Summary: Aliena Welsh has been living in the universe of the show Peaky Blinders for 2 months now. She’s beginning to make a life and a home for herself, but she’s been avoiding calling Thomas by his name. And he wants to know why.

A/N: So, I forgot to add something very important. I am not from Liverpool. I do not know the proper way scousers talk. I’ve done some research and watched movies, but I will not advocate that it’s perfect. I’d love to get my readers’ opinions on it, and if enough responses come back saying that I shouldn’t show her accent in the writing- it will be gone! Also, this is the pronunciation of Aliena ( A Lee ay nah ). Thanks for reading!

So, I've been with the Shelby's for two months now! It has definitely been something! I mean Polly is very strict and for the first couple of days I was taking care of John's kids, she was watching over me like a hawk. I mean I didn't mind and I totally appreciated it. I dealt with me own family members, meaning I could've dealt with them however I wanted but these weren't me kids to punish. So, that's where Polly helped me out. She set me boundaries.

With the cooking, I learned a lot of things. Like how to make eggs and bacon and sausage for breakfast. I can basically make anything Polly has taught me for the past 2 months. I also clean the house regularly. I do the sweeping, moping, the trash, and the laundry. I honestly don't mind. What's fun is that Polly found out that I didn't know UK currency and how it worked and she taught me it along with Finn. But, Finn actually already knew how to count money. He was 10, of course he did! He was there so that Polly could keep an eye on ‘em.

I'm currently working on buying our weekly groceries for the main house, and for John. For the main house, Polly helps me out, but for John's house, I have to figure it out on me own.

I was doing the kids' laundry as I watched over them. Katie, the eldest at 7, was helping me along with her sister Ilsa, who was 6. Robert, who was 4, was playing with his younger brother John, who was 3. I found out that John had knocked up Martha when they were 16, resulting in little Katie. They had Ilsa a year later, waited 2 years and had little Robert, and then baby John Jr. was a result of John Sr.’s vacation days during the war.

I was scrubbing harshly against a stain when I noticed things had gotten out of hand. "Robbie, don't hit your brother so hard! You'll regret it when you're older. Katie, dear, you need to space out the clothes more! Ilsa, you need to scrub that spot harder." I shouted at them.

Ilsa huffed. "Aliena, I want to go play! Why can't I?"

"It's not that you can't, sweetheart. It's just- I need your help. I have to take care of all of your clothes along with your father's, along with your uncles’ and aunt's clothes. I would have your brothers do the same if they were any older, but they aren't. They would just mess the clothes up or not wash them right. So, as much as it pains me to prevent you from playing, I need your help, alright?"

She groaned loudly. "Fine! But only because you need me." She muttered while sporting a big pout.

I chuckled at her and reached over to pinch her pout. She flinched at it.

"Aliena, why would I regret it?" Robbie shouted.

"What?" I asked with my eyes squinting as I tried to get a good look at him.

He ran towards me, which made Johnny follow. "Why would I regret hitting this annoying bugger?" He repeated while pushing his brother's head.

I tsked at his antics. "You'll regret it because he'll grow bigger one day and give you a beating back. Mark my words, he'll learn to get you when you're weak!"

"No, he wouldn't!"

"Oh, but he would! It's what siblings do you see. I'm not telling you to never hit 'em because I know that's how you both play, but just don't make each other cry. Okay?"

Robbie tilted his head as if in deep thought before agreeing and running off with his brother.

I sighed knowing that he probably told me a blag.

Speaking of blags, you know that story I fed Thomas when I first arrived here was total bullshit, right? The truth is me whole family, nieces and all, are back in California in one house. Me da and ma aren't dead. Me sister doesn't have a husband, but does have a daughter. Me brother doesn't have a wife, but actually has 4 kids. Me da's brother is not mental, but lives with me gran. I forgot the reason why. And me mum still talks to her family all while maintaining the mentality that they are jealous of her because she's a stay-at-home mum. Also, I was dead-on about me body being younger. I had to have been 16, at most, because when I was 18 me features began to be more defined, and now I was stuck with this baby face again.

When we were all done with the laundry, it was late afternoon. I made us all lunch, and then let them all run abar with their friends with the expectation of little Johnny. Him and I were going back over to Polly's. He once asked me about this decision, and I told him it was because he was too young. He pouted and groaned, but accepted it nonetheless.

I opened the door to the house and he bolted right in. I laughed at the sight. I went straight away to the kitchen and put on an apron. I had to, ironically, make sandwiches for the boys. Finn probably found something to eat or Polly made him something, but it was my responsibility to feed the older Shelby brothers.

"Finn, take care of your cousin while I go 'n feed your brothers!" I shouted as I finished making the last sandwich.

I put a plate on top of the other holding two sandwiches and I had the third one set on its own plate, ready to be served. I opened the door by hitting it with me bum. I was instantly overwhelmed by the yelling and shouting of countless men that were in the betting shop. I had to weave me way through clumps of men as well as maintaining awareness of all their movements, so that they don't bump into me!

John was closest even though he was actually the farthest. But he was the only one out of his office. Always near the blackboard that one.

"John, I have your lunch!"

He smiled at me while taking the plate. "Thanks, love!"

I nodded in return. Then, I went for Arthur's office. I knocked, he saw me, and told me to come in.

"Here's your lunch, Arthur." I separated the plates and got one of the two sandwiches to place on the plate.

"Ah! Finally, some fuckin' food! I swear Aliena, you make a mean sandwich. Thanks, doll." Arthur said before taking a huge bite.

I said "you're welcome" with a rather embarrassed smile and left. I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me. Now, I was holding one plate in my hand. I inhaled largely and puffed my cheeks as I exhaled.

'I swear I'll never get used to 'em.' I thought.

I walked over to Thomas' office, knocked, and was allowed to come in. I turned the knob and took in the sight. Thomas Shelby kept his head down, inspecting his documents while nursing a ciggie that was in-between his two fingers resting there with his arm bent on the desk.

"Your lunch, Mr. Shelby." I whispered as I set his plate down.

He didn't even lift his head as he muttered "thank you." So, I just left.

I wiped my hands on me apron, walked back into the main house, and closed the doors behind me. I walked back into the kitchen and tossed me apron on a chair.

"Finn, is your cousin still alive?"

"Yeah!"

"Good! Keep him that way for the next two to three hours!"

"Okay!"

After serving lunch to the boys, I had to start cleaning the house. I beat the dirt out of rugs, I swept away dirt, and moped the floors afterward. When I was done with that I was taking down clothes that I've just washed yesterday. Then, I got ready to start ironing them, but mid through it was around 4 o'clock.

I had to stop and go find the rest of John's kids. I got little Johnny and walked back to the flat, but when I got there, I found all three of them waiting outside of the door. I was able to start dinner with ease that night. Katie helped me make chicken soup. She was always so adorable. It took little over an hour. I ate with them, and then told Ilsa it was her night to wash the dishes.

She’s so stubborn, reminds me of meself. I bet she’ll be a boss feminist when she gets older. I can imagine her now, marching for Women’s Rights.

Anyway, I ran over back to the main house and helped Polly finish making their dinner. It was basically chopping and peeling. When she didn't need me anymore, I had to go back to the kids. I was up with them 'till 8:30 and then I had to tuck them into bed. I got done by 9, but little Johnny came out abar three times before settling down. When I was confident they were all asleep, I tidied up the house a little more. I just put away a toy or two that they'd missed.

It was 11:37 in the night when John got home. He thanked me and gave me a pound before sending me on me way. With a pep in my step, I trod over back to the main house.

I got me key to unlock the door, stepped in, and then locked it. With a key still in me hand, I rested against the door. Me hand with the key was clutching on the doorknob for dear life, me body thudded softly as it collided with the door. I closed me eyes and let out a heavy sigh. I rested there for what seemed like an eternity. But I got meself back up. I took the pins out of me hair that finally managed to form and maintain a proper bun. Me cheeks puffed as I exhaled and I shook out me hair. I put me pins in me coat pocket as I made me way to the couch. Me body just plopped down and I just relaxed.

Me feet and back soon started to ache. So, I took off me shoes and socks, and started massaging me feet and rolling my ankles. I followed up by cracking me back, and then going upstairs to me room. I started placing everything nicely and where they were supposed to be. I changed into pajamas, which was just a dress. I attempted to fall asleep in bed, but ended up failing. Instead, I went downstairs, grabbed the tub, heated up some water, and drew meself a bath in me own room.

The only way we could cleanse ourselves here was in a tub. It wasn't installed into the house, oh no! It was quite literally a grey tub, and I have to use another tub for me hair. When I was done, I poured me hair water down the kitchen drain, and then worked me way with the water I used for me body. Afterward, I settled down in front of the fire that was in the living room. I sat in front of it while wringing the water out of me hair. The crackling of the fire as well as its heat was comforting. So much so that I found meself dozing off.

It was during that allotted time that a hand suddenly shook me. Frightened, I gasped, rolled on to my knees from leaning on me thighs, and tried to focus on the person who jolted me awake.

"You know, you'll end up catching a cold if you go to sleep with wet hair right away?" Thomas said while kneeling down beside me. "And your hair will be a pain to deal with if you don't brush it soon."

I nodded while looking at him with hooded, unfocused eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Shelby." My voice sounded hoarse like I actually had been just awoken from a nap when in reality all I did was close me eyes for a second. Me eyes kept wanting to close. I chose to rub me arms to keep me awake.

"Do I make you uncomfortable, Ms. Welsh?" He asked while properly sitting down next to me.

I squeezed me eyes shut, silently cringing. I knew I was making it obvious, but I figured that he was used to it. Hell, even Arthur and John don't talk to him without minding themselves.

With a tight grip on me arms and an equally tight smile I said, "No, not uncomfortable, Mr. Shelby. But I am intimidated by you."

He nodded silently. "Intimidation is often used as another word for fear."

I giggled at his words. "It's actually a synonym for frighten or terrify, but also overawe. Which means to be impressed by someone to like the point of speechlessness." Me hands were now an active part in our small conversation.

Only reason I knew that was from searching up the word so much!

"So, am I correct to assume you're telling me you're impressed by me, Ms. Welsh?"

I pursed me lips while leaning me head to the side, resting on me arms that had been crossed on top of me bent knee. "I guess. What I'm really trying to say is that… I don't know actually. I just don't want to cross a line with you, in all honesty. If I were to say something wrong- like a mispronunciation! Arthur and John would 'ave a laugh and a joke, but my expected reaction from you is silence. Silence can be the most daunting thing."

Thomas hummed while looking at me silently.

I couldn't stop a giggle and pointed at him. "See! Like that! Are you just being understanding, or are you judging me?" I laughed even more afterward, and then I yawned.

Through squinted eyes, I saw Thomas smirk. It was small. I'm sure it was really a half-assed smile.

"I see that you call my brothers by their names. Even though I insisted from the moment we met for you to call me by my name, you don't. Is this the reason why?"

I hummed. "I guess. I mean, well, you're my boss. I figure you have to use, you know, the proper terms. It's my first job 'n all! I didn't want to do anything to mess up." I said while tracing over the patterns in the carpet.

"Well, from the way I see it, I am your boss and your boss is giving you an order."

I tried to stifle my giggle and hide me smile, but it didn't do much since he had eyes and ears. "Fine. Thomas."

"Aliena."

After that, he went up to his room. Me fatigue was oddly gone yet at its worst at the same time. It took me another hour before I managed to drag meself up and sleep on the couch.

You and Adam have been neighbors for a few years now. You live on the same floor, one door down from each other. It was rare for you to ever see him. You work during the day and you’re not really sure what he does, but most of New York works odd hours. He is probably in the service industry. Although you pegged him more as the eccentric type, creative, maybe a writer. Whatever he did with his time, the two of you only talked a handful of times. Neighborly pleasantries. “Hi’s” when you pass in the hallway. He once helped you carry a heavy package up the stairs. There was a dog last summer that you had to corral back onto an odd makeshift leash that Adam must’ve constructed himself.

Sackler was definitely interesting. But never anything but nice to you. Always offering a genuine toothy grin and bright eyes. Unlike the other “interesting” characters you encountered throughout the city.

It’s been a long week and today hasn’t gone by any faster. You’re ready for several glasses of wine, your couch, and mind numbing television. But it seems that fate -- and your friend Sam following behind you -- had different plans.

As you round the top of the staircase, you’re talking over your shoulder, and literally run straight into Adam.

Of course.

Fuck he is...solid. You feel like an old cartoon as you shake your vision back into focus.

“Oh ffuuckin shit,” Adam grunts. Waving an iPhone in the air and pointing at it like it has a personal vendetta against him he says, “Sorry fuckin cell phones. I don’t know WHAT THE FUCK IT WANTS FROM ME!” He’s yelling directly into the thing like he expects it to answer back. As he looks up he sees who he ran into. He figured it would be one of the old bats that always seem to get in his way when he’s in a rush. But all he sees is you. His cute neighbor from down the hall. His frustration flees and he feels like he’s lost control of every other brain function.

You wince through your teeth and rub the skin where your neck got twisted all weird in the collusion. “Ahhh shit, Champ. You okay?” he asks, reaching up to help you massage at the sore muscle. Like you’ve had this intimate relationship for years. And maybe you had. Maybe all those one word greetings and friendly smiles and waves were enough to develop some unspoken bond.

But obviously it couldn’t be that serious.

“Mmmh yeah Sackler. I’m good. Nothing a little stretching can’t fix,” you chuckle in response, swiveling your head this way and that to loosen up. “Maybe just look out where you’re going next time.” He jabs his finger at your chest, “Huh. I could say the same thing about you there, Champ.” With that, you shake your head and squeeze past him. He bids you and Sam adieu (his literal words) in his usual dramatic fashion.

You are fully prepared to file this bump along with your other innocuous Adam Sackler encounters.

You and Sam are only half way through your first bottle of wine and first episode of Love Island (the UK version - and they’re only an hour long even though it feels like a lot happens each episode) when you can tell they’re about to burst. You roll your eyes and say, “Yes Sam?” “I think you should hook up with that weird Sackler guy!” they burst. Something about that word - weird - makes your heart hurt a bit for Adam. You always had the feeling that he was misunderstood for his passions. “Come on. He’s not weird. He’s just a dude doing his own thing. And I don’t even know him well enough to know what ‘his own thing’ is,” you dismiss the suggestion. “Okay sure. But he’s clearly into you, Champ,” they wiggle their eyebrows on that last word. How many times can you roll your eyes tonight? Maybe you should start keeping count.

“I. Dare. You.”

Fuck.

Sam knew you wouldn’t, couldn’t turn down a dare. Neither of you did since the inception of your friendship. One of those stupid things you say in the middle of the night that never goes away. Although it seemed like Sam was daring you more than you were daring them.

Faced with the ultimate checkmate and no other moves left, you down the rest of your glass and take a couple extra sips from the bottle. “Fine,” you spit as you stand for the door. “But you’re buying pizza when I get back.” Sam throws their hands in the air, accepting the wager.

Add another tally to the eye roll count.

As you leave your apartment, you realize you only have like 10 feet to figure out a game plan. You couldn’t really just walk up to this practical stranger and say ‘hey wanna fuck?’. Could you?

You shake any inhibitions from your body, decide to just wing it, and knock on Sackler’s door. On the other side, you hear crashing and clanking before he yanks it open. And of course he’s already shirtless. And sweaty. Why is he so sweaty?

“Ohh heeyy yoouuu. You’re not here to sue me or anything are you?” he chuckles nervously. Instinctively, your hand finds its way to the back of your neck. “Nah man. Who do you think I am? Mr. Anderson?” you point a thumb towards the other end of the hall. “Fuck. Yeah. That guy thinks he fuckin owns this place. So what’s up then?”

“Wanna fuck?” you ask, more straightforward than anything else you’ve ever said in your life.

Sackler nearly chokes on the spit in his mouth. But he couldn’t be more fuckin wired. He’d been waiting for this day since you fuckin moved in. “I thought you’d never fuckin ask, Champ,” he says with a devilish grin, stepping aside. Finally letting you into the world that was the enigma of Adam Sackler.

killed playing with a fake gun. he reached for his waist band and was shot twice, the entire incident happened within two seconds. Tamir would’ve been 17 today.

killed due to looking “suspicious”. trayvon had come back from buying skittles and a watermelon arizona when a volunteer neighborhood watch person shot trayvon. he would’ve been 25 today.

killed for carrying a knife. officers had placed him in a van giving him a rough ride, where they drive erratically while the detained has no seatbelt, broke his legs, and was put into a coma. he died of a spinal injury.

killed for being at a party. an officer had fired three rifle rounds into a vehicle, shooting him in the head. Jordan was described as hardworking, smart and always smiling.

killed asking for help. his car broke down so he went to a neighborhood and knocked on doors for help. he ran towards police for help and they opened fire shooting him 12 times. he was a football player for the Florida A&M University Rattlers.

killed attempting protect her child. she had suffered from lead poisoning and there was no mobile crisis team called in to de-escalate the stand off at her home. she leaves behind two children.

killed for selling cd’s and exercising his 2nd amendment right. officers tasered him, forced him to the hood of a sedan, then to the floor and shot him six times while he was underneath them. he was known as “cd man”.

killed for wanting to talk to his girlfriend. he had attempted to enter the ambulance she was in when officers arrested him on the ground and was shot. he had hopes of attending college.

killed exercising his 2nd amendment right. officers were called because jeremy had suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. he struggled to put his hands up in his wheelchair and shots were fired, killing him.

killed for not using her turn signal. during a traffic stop, she was forced out of her car, tasered, had her head slammed into the ground, and feared her arm was broken. she was found hanging in her cell. Sandra was passionate for BLM.

killed because she could not afford bail. she was arrested on minor assault charges and sent to riker’s island complex. two months later she was found dead in her cell, she suffered from a seizure disorder. she was apart of the House of Xtravaganza.

21. 𝐓𝗼𝐧𝐲 𝐌𝐜𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐞

killed for defending themselves. several men attacked him earlier in the day so he went to get revenge and was shot by police after he pointed a bb gun. Mcdade was a trans man and people in his community are asking for justice.

22. 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝗼𝗼𝐤𝐞𝐫

killed for accidentally backing into a car. the driver of the car held her at gunpoint when a crowd gathered and they started to assault her. Muhlaysia was found dead near a golf course. her cousin said “she was picked on because she is transgender."

IT’S A BIG WORLD OUT THERE

Leaving Borneo was hard for me. Really really hard. This place was like home. I had family there, people I trust, people I love and truly care about. Malaysia was in familiar in a way I can’t really explain, it was a feeling like I belonged there. Heading to Thailand was a big deal, bigger than it should have been. And I remember not wanting to go at first. 

Things didn’t get easier when I checked my mails the day before my departure and I saw that my flight was delayed so much that instead of just changing the plane in KL I had to stay overnight. This was something I didn’t expect at all but it was actually doing me a favour. Some of you might remember Andy (wildlife photographer, married to Maureen, stayed with them for a couple of days in the Owl House in Ba’Kelalan). Andy happens to live in KL so I asked him to stay at his place for the night. He and one of his friends (who happens to be a uber driver) picked me up at KL Central, we went for some nice Indian food and chit chatted for what felt like a couple of hours. That evening (mostly spent at that Indian place and later at his apartment aka “the batcave” where you have by the way a stunning view over KL) was full of laughter, great stories and really good conversation. It was like reuniting with an old friend and was exactly what I needed before leaving Malaysia for good.

 Thank you Andy, for giving me those last couple of hours in that beautiful country! And I’ll stick to my word, it is still a see ya and not a goodbye

THAILAND

Phuket gave me a rather unpleasant welcome. As soon as I stepped out of the airport (again massive delay of flight. If anyone of you ever plans a trip to Asia NEVER take Malindo Air!!! they are rude, always late and I think I never had less space in a plane) I immediately wanted to go back. Outside of the airport were like a billion people, Thai and foreigners. It was horrible. Taxi drivers yelling at you and following every tourist that was stupid enough to slow down for a sec. Tourists pushing their way through the crowd. HORRIBLE! It was just too much for me as I was never a big fan of crowds but after the peace and quiet I enjoyed in Malaysia it was downright terrifying. Anyway I managed to get away from the busiest spot and tried to find the cheapest way to Phukets pier where my ferry to Koh Phi Phi departed and where I was finally meeting the family friend I was supposed to meet a day earlier. Because of my delay and too many people I made a big mistake. Dumbest thing I’ve done so far. I forgot there was an hour difference between Malaysia and Thailand which meant I had one hour more to get to the pier. However, I thought I had one and a half hours for a way that’s supposed to take one hour with the bus (cheapest way to go, 150 Baht) which departure was 40 minutes later. So I figured I had to go there on the fastest way (and most expensive, 700 Baht) and took a taxi. Fuck me, I spent almost five times more than I had to just because I was being stupid. Here’s my advice for you: always let your phone set the time zone automatically and you won’t make this stupid mistake!! I assure you my day got better as soon as I was on that ferry. I met my travel mate, we chatted for a while how everything’s going and arrived on the stunning Phi Phi islands! We didn’t expect so many people to go there but it was still a breathtaking view.

We shared a nice bungalow in the hills with a pretty good with over the island and far away from the loud beach parties at night (you can hear them on the whole island). After exploring our accommodation we went swimming on a smaller beach. The sea was stunning, almost hot and really clear. That day we watched one of most the beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen from the beach with some nice fruit shakes and me trying Pad Thai (Thailand’s national dish) for the first time.

The second day we started exploring the small city and decided to go out at night. Well, I decided to get really drunk. Which I did. We went to a pretty cool rooftop bar, wandered around in the town and ended up at the beach parties where we enjoyed watching the fire show, Limbo and dancing.

My body thanked me for the mixture of delicious cocktails, beer and (free) shots with a massive hangover the next day. I cured it at a nice beach bar with a mango shake and some really good fried noodles. I ended up staying at that place for more than two hours because that one Thai (former tour guide) working there started telling me about Thailand’s main attractions, where to go an what to see. He’s a funny guy, always smiling and joking around. I went to that bar again in the evening or rather night after I got my first bamboo tattoo! Funny thing: I went there by myself, a little bit nervous and ended up chatting with a really nice american guy for the whole procedure who joined me for a drink after that.

The following day we continued our trip to Koh Lanta. I’d really like to tell you something about that island but I’ve been sick for the whole time we spent there. Yeah, had a really fun time there! But at least now I know that you can just walk into a pharmacy and buy some penicillin without prescription. Oh, I actually have one thing to say: I watched Dark while I lay around in our hotel room (almost dying) and I strongly recommend watching the show!!! That’s it for Koh Lanta, sadly.

Less than a week ago I spent three days in Krabi, exploring the cute city and area. On my very first day I discovered a beautiful buddhist temple! Think I sat there for two hours just enjoying the sensation of finally being alone. It was very peaceful. That and having a full body massage that night made me sleep like a baby and fully recover.

The next morning I went for a day trip to Rai Leh. It’s really close to Krabi, you go from the city to Ao Nang Beach where you take a long-tail boat to the Rai Leh. This place is stunning. Just beautiful!! But way too crowded in my opinion. Which made me go climb up all the way to the viewpoint and later to a small lagoon on top of the hill. Climbing up to the viewpoint is exhausting but manageable. Going to the lagoon is not for the weaker hearts. There are some points where you only got a rope to hang on or some bamboo-ladders (not trustworthy at all!) to climb down. Good for me, tho. Cause that meant not a lot of people went down there. That lagoon was magical. Like a home for fairies. Probably the most beautiful thing on Rai Leh, definitely worth a visit.

Truly shattered I fell into bed that evening and woke up to a morning full of excitement. You wanna know why? Well, I decided to try something new. That morning I started hitchhiking. Usually not a big deal, but it turned out to be rather difficult because where I started (Ao Luek) NOBODY spoke english. So i had to write down some useful phrases in Thai (took me ten minutes for like four sentences). That actually helped even though it led people to the conclusion I had no money at all (Thais are not familiar with the concept of hitchhiking).  So I ended up in a truck with Bunsong and his sleeping daughter who took me home to his family to offer me accommodation. He lives near a town called Surat Thani. This area was so originally Thai that they don’t speak a word english except for “hello” and “thank you”. How did we manage to communicate? Google translate for the win. Just try to imagine spending nearly 24 hours with a bunch of people and the only way you can talk to them or explain yourself is via a translation app. They didn’t really understand me, were really concerned and started buying me food and cooking for me even though I insisted they should not. Everybody wanted to take some pictures and talk to me (how??) and was really really kind.  I would say first time hitchhiking in Thailand went good. Strange and complicated but good!

The day after I got to the airport nearby to meet Raf (a guy from couch surfing who wanted to join me). We met up and started half an hour later and had a lucky strike! David, a cute old guy from the UK who happens to live in Thailand for seven years, picked us up and gave us a lift. He brought us to a small temple in the middle of nowhere (Amphoe Lang Suan - Na Phaya) right at the sea and even offered us to give us his bike as long as we are around. We asked the monk if we could stay for the night and he agreed immediately. To be honest I never met a stranger person than that monk, he was just downright crazy! Whatever, we stayed at the temple for a night. A night full of bugs and spiders and two hours of sleep.

David came to see us again and offered that we could stay at his house if we want and now I’m here in Lang Suan, exploring the area (hot springs, luminescent plankton, temples and beaches) with Davids bike and babysitting his dog, Charleen, for two nights because he is on a business trip. Funny where you end up when you’re hitchhiking, I quite like it. We’ll see where I end up next.

This world is getting bigger and bigger. Basically it’s not, it’s still the same no matter how much time flies by. But for me it is. Every decision brings me closer to exploring, every day gives me a thousand opportunities to see and understand the things that are so different than back home. It’s scary sometimes but what would life be without overcoming your fears and go further and further from where you started.

I feel such a weight of stress lifted off my shoulders now I’m in Canada, this place honestly feels like a home away from home !!!

I underestimated how much I’ve missed my family over here & how well we get along, it’s so sad they live so far away. We have so much in common & I just love them so much. I mean in many ways the distance is good because it makes me appreciate the time we have way more, but of course it also means I rarely get to see them in the grand scheme of things

I’m so proud of myself for eating so well the last week, but it’s a lot harder now eating out with everyone because we aren’t going to vegan places & I just have to make do with whats there & it often means my body doesn’t get what it needs so I get these mad feelings of deprivation by the end of the day & end up eating heaps of whatever I can get my hands on. It’s not ideal, but spending that time with family is way more important & I can get back to properly nourishing my body when it’s more convenient. Reminder to everyone that life is more then food & it isn’t about being perfect all the time

it’s hilarious comparing Canada day to Australia day - in Canada it’s a family orientated day with marches, music & community celebration, whereas in Australia it’s literally just everyone getting absolutely on the piss

man I’m so determined & excited to get super fit & healthy while I’m away. It’s been up & down with my anxiety from all the travel which has really mucked my ability to find balance, but now I’m really getting there & it feels so good. Add the stability of home when I get there & I think everything will feel right as rainbows
