Circular knitting machines are fun! I'm hoping to get through some of my ancient acrylic stash with this thing. Made a hat in two hours.
... Now I'm bored again

part 2 of today’s notes, just yarn stuff
Oh god, they don’t even make Fun Fur yarn anymore! D:
This is what I get for using other people’s destash yarns. On the other hand, Hobby Lobby has another brand of “eyelash” yarn. Oh, the Michael’s website has another-nother brand; didn’t see it in the store, though. I spent a LOT of time there, too. Amazon has options, too, so I guess I’ll wait to order there.
Thankfully, that’ll keep me out of JoAnn’s and HL. Tomorrow’s shopping will be returning to Goodwill and then a music store.
Y’know, there were some really pretty, soft yarns that could’ve been substitutes, today. One was an alpaca blend, and the other was Caron Latte Cakes in “red macaron”. They were so soft and lovely that it kinda defeated the purpose of pairing the “fur” thing with Red Heart Super Saver. These were bulky enough on their own. ========
Also, my phone isn’t letting me transfer files (photos) via usb. I’m irked, because I’d love to share some pics right now. Gotta wait to get home, so I can grab my password notebook and log in on my phone. *sigh* Ah technology.

The Florence Sweater
I actually made this back in May. lol. I got selected as a pattern tester for The Florence Sweater (pattern found here). This was lots of fun, since I've never been a pattern tester before 😅😅😅😅. I loved this yarn back when I used it for my mom's wrap (it's really soft). Luckily the sweater itself isn't too hot and I can still wear it throughout the year 👍👍👍
Yarn: Caron Latte Cake (bought a while ago, but I think the color is "butter cookie"), bulky (5) supposedly

I’ve been crocheting a lot of these whales lately (pattern is by 1DogWoof on Etsy) and I think I’m becoming obsessed. I made this one as a big ol’ “fuck around and find out” - I had the remains of a Caron latte cake left and no clue what to do with them, so I made the top of a whale with it. The gauge was very funky for a while, but I’d say it worked!
I call him Mr. Pinky and I love himb

And she's finished! (Minus the pesky task of weaving in... way more ends than I feel like weaving today😂😂)

This blanket was truly born out of a lot of frustration and creative block, but I am thrilled with the result. And I'd like to think I learned a little something along the way. Now, I've been crocheting for more than half my life, so a couple of different sized granny squares is not exactly tough to wrap my head around. But allowing myself to make something simple, soft, and just for me is something I've struggled with a lot.
Hell, before I knew I was making this blanket, I tried making a marginally more complicated shawl with the same yarn. Sure, it kept my interest a little more, but the yarn made it nearly impossible to see the pattern. So I ripped it out, started again and again. Nothing felt right.
In the end, I just went back to my roots and started a granny square. I wasn't even sure I'd keep it. But I just needed something to keep my hands busy, and at least I get something that is truly wonderful to snuggle under.
Now that it's all done, I've realized that not every finished piece needs to be The Thing. If all you can manage is a simple pattern with some fun yarn, then make it. That's all it has to be. And every once in awhile, especially if you're feeling creatively blocked, just make something simple, soft, and self indulgent. You'll thank yourself.

Their eyes are blue with no pupils. They have an open dark orange beak with a red tounge sticking out. My roommate always asks me who I’m making the current project for, so when I told him that I was making this for ME, he was blown away. I LOVE soft and fuzzy sweaters, so when I saw this new Latte Cake yarn by Caron, I knew what I was making. This is my “I’m listening to a meeting” project. You know, those meetings where you need to be doing something in order to pay attention. Some people ride their bikes, I just happen to crochet.

New vest! My first time using Caron’s Latte Cakes line, this one is in shades of brown and cream. It can be worn like a traditional vest or pinned a couple of different ways depending on the body type of the wearer. I can’t say enough about this yarn, it has a fuzzy type of effect and is really soft and lovely. ❤️ $35
