Hey, y’all! Stories Update!!

Hey, y’all. So, I know I haven’t exactly been posting much on here lately. I’ve, in a way, taken a small break from writing my Negan/JDM stories for a bit. But, that doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped writing. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! I just wanted to let y’all know that I haven’t stopped writing. In fact, I’ve been working on stories with @mychemicalimagines and @supernaturalwritingbunker. I decided I would let you know what they were, in case y’all wanted to go check ‘em out! If you love my Negan writing, feel free to check out these other stories I’ve worked on/been working on! They’re listed in alphabetical order, based on the first name then by the first name of the fic, unless otherwise stated (i.e. the Jasper Hale “You’re My…” Series). Stories we haven’t posted yet don’t have links, but everything else does. I’m hoping that I’ll get some more inspiration to keep writing for Negan here soon. We’ll see! Stay safe. *For the stories listed below, I’ve separated based on which blog it’s from, and whether it’s a movie or show fic. Beyond that. I’ve separated them based on which show or movie it is, and if applicable, I’ve indicated if it’s a series or not. I’ve included the title of the story, what it’s status is (finished, in progress, or on hiatus), how many chapters there are, and the relationship pairings. If it’s on hiatus, the main reason for that, unless otherwise indicated, is that we just aren’t quite ready to finish that particular story. It’s like having a kid, watching it grow, and then them being all grown up. You wanna hold onto that innocence for as long as you can. XD Another reason that they might be on hiatus is we just haven’t had any mojo for writing it. Now, for the “in progress” stories, we are still writing those, but, some haven’t been updated in awhile because they aren’t getting enough love for us to want to continue. American Pie: o erro de Adam Herz

Em 1999, o crítico de cinema Roger Ebert escreveu: “Nada é repugnante demais para as novas comédias. Repugnância é o objetivo”. Foi com certa infelicidade que Ebert publicou tais palavras, indignado pela apelação ao humor nojento e grosseiro estourando as bilheterias de American Pie ao redor do mundo. 

O filme, escrito por Adam Herz, aposta quase todas as fichas no absurdo, explorando comportamentos grotescos e situações infelizes como alívios cômicos — por exemplo, quando Steve Stifler acidentalmente bebe um gole de cerveja com sêmen, ou quando Jim Levenstein é flagrado pelo pai ao se masturbar com uma torta na cozinha de casa: são cenas de grande repulsa, construídas com o objetivo de transformar a aflição dos personagens na finalidade humorística da história. 

American Pie, lançado em 1999, foi um grande marco para comédia pastelão no mundo do cinema, mas não foi o primeiro filme desse gênero a chamar atenção — o canadense-americano Porky’s (1981), ou clássico estrelado por Cameron Diaz Quem vai ficar com Mary? (1998), são grandes exemplos de longas categorizados como teen sex comedies (em tradução livre: comédias de sexo adolescente) que precederam o tão polêmico American Pie. 

A questão, porém, é que o grotesco não passa de uma mera característica do filme. O ponto principal é simples e direto: sexo. Assistir a American Pie é passar uma hora e trinta e seis minutos testemunhando um grupo de jovens garotos, estudantes do ensino médio, inferiorizando uns aos outros por serem virgens. 

O enredo central do filme conta com cinco amigos que, a três semanas da formatura do colegial, fazem um pacto: terão sua primeira relação sexual até a festa dos formandos. Toda a história se desenrola ao redor dessa trama principal, enquanto os estudantes (Steve Stifler, Jim Levenstein, Paul Finch, Chris Ostreicher e Kevin Myers) expõem mulheres e suas intimidades, exibem garotas como prêmios, as enganam, humilham uns aos outros e alimentam o tabu da virgindade. 

Sabrina Vega é psicóloga especialista em sexualidade. Ela comentou sobre a pressão retratada pelo filme, explicando que, mesmo sendo um lançamento de mais de duas décadas atrás, vários elementos da história ainda persistem. No início do filme o personagem Kevin Myers faz um discurso inflamado, onde propõe o desafio de que todos percam a virgindade nas próximas três semanas, até a noite do baile — “É nossa masculinidade em jogo. Precisamos tomar uma atitude”. 

Sabrina destacou o malefício desses estereótipos. “O filme deixa bastante clara a diferença entre expectativas de meninos e meninas sobre a primeira relação sexual, transmitindo a ideia de que os meninos precisam passar por esse rito para provar sua virilidade a qualquer custo. (...) Essas mensagens reforçam um estereótipo sexual machista e ultrapassado, além de retratarem uma visão superficial e que não contém a realidade das relações.” 

American Pie é recheado de machismo, exposição, tabus e, especialmente: masculinidade tóxica. O professor e filósofo Everton Marcos Grison esclareceu o significado desse termo, recente nos debates sociais. “Masculinidade tóxica é  (...) uma espécie de culto violento, que ressalta a brutalidade como característica principal de meninos, jovens, e homens, além de haver um culto ao falo como representação de força, domínio, controle e imposição social.” 

O professor analisa, também, a forma como a indústria cultural alimenta esse tipo de comportamento danoso. Segundo ele, garotos e homens são bombardeados por afirmações machistas “em um sentido que ultrapassa o grotesco. É uma espécie de animalidade.” 

O receio em tratar a sexualidade como algo natural vai além de uma questão cultural — essa hesitação restringe a abertura ao diálogo, fazendo com que jovens e adolescentes sintam vergonha ao tirar dúvidas ou comentar o assunto, e os efeitos dessa barreira podem ser mais intensos do que se imagina. Sabrina Vega explicou a importância de se conversar sobre sexo sem preconceitos, ressaltando que isso pode afetar o desenvolvimento emocional e relacional do indivíduo. 

De acordo com a psicóloga, muitas pessoas podem acabar se submetendo a situações desconfortáveis ou até arriscadas, na tentativa de se enquadrarem em padrões impostos pela pressão social. “Isso pode deixar marcas para o resto da vida, que podem ser crenças limitantes a respeito do sexo, dificuldades de relacionamento, expectativas inconscientes a respeito dos parceiros, ou uma relação crítica com o próprio corpo.”

Fora a pressão externa retratada em American Pie, há também uma clara representação do papel da família na sexualidade dos jovens. O personagem Jim Levenstein (interpretado por Jason Biggs) tem algumas conversas com seu pai ao longo do filme, e todas elas expressam a mesma ideia: como é vergonhoso ser virgem. 

O pai (Eugene Levy) fala com o filho de forma indireta, sempre hesitante. É claro o constrangimento que ele sente por Jim nunca ter tido relações sexuais e, assim, acaba inferiorizando o garoto. O Sr. Levenstein dá revistas pornográficas de presente para Jim, o incentiva a buscar uma parceira e chega, inclusive, a tratar o filho com pena, deixando-o claramente desconfortável ao oferecer conselhos não solicitados. 

O psicólogo Bruno Ribeiro falou a respeito do preconceito que os familiares têm ao abordar a sexualidade, sendo que deveria ser tratada simplesmente como uma parte natural do ser humano. “Algumas crenças culturais podem trazer a ideia de que é algo errado ou impuro, e com isso o assunto se torna um tabu nas famílias.”

Sabrina Vega sugeriu alguns pontos a serem observados para que pais e responsáveis possam abordar a sexualidade de forma saudável e natural com suas crianças e adolescentes. Segundo ela, é essencial que o ambiente seja amigável, acolhedor e livre de julgamentos. “Por ser um tema que carrega esse peso de tabu, as informações acabam sendo veladas, repassadas de modo informal, o que pode gerar muitas crenças limitantes, pré-conceitos e dúvidas.” Ela destaca a importância do espaço de confiança e respeito, para que os jovens se sintam confortáveis ao exporem suas dúvidas e questionamentos. 

A jornada do longa-metragem se estende por pouco mais de uma hora e meia. O tema central é o sexo e a perda da virgindade e, ao longo da história, conflitos secundários se desenrolam: festas do colégio, encontros, estratégias para que o desafio das três semanas se cumpra, conversas entre os amigos, entre muitos outros. 

American Pie é um filme de protagonistas masculinos, cujas trajetórias reforçam comportamentos estereotipados resultantes de uma cultura machista e obsoleta. Desta forma, não é difícil concluir: as personagens mulheres são reduzidas à objetos sexuais, instrumentos de fofoca e humilhação. 

Desde que Steve Stifler apalpa as nádegas de uma garota distraída durante uma festa, até quando Jim Levenstein faz uma transmissão ao vivo da personagem Nadia se despindo em seu quarto — são incontáveis as situações em que as mulheres têm suas intimidades, corpos e direitos violados. 

Uma das garotas que ganha mais destaque no enredo é Victoria Lathum. Interpretada por Tara Reid, Victoria é a namorada de Kevin Myers (Thomas Ian Nicholas), um dos cinco amigos no grupo. Enquanto ela espera que sua primeira relação sexual seja especial e romântica, Myers está preocupado com o prazo estipulado por ele e seus colegas. Ao longo do filme ele passa a tratar a namorada de forma doce e simpática, esperando que, desta forma, ela aceite se deitar com ele. 

Não apenas agindo de maneira forçada para que Victoria ceda às suas vontades, Myers também expõe detalhes de suas vidas sexuais, debochando da namorada e a constrangendo. A garota, em certo ponto do filme, ao conversar com uma amiga, comenta sobre como isso a deixa desconfortável, mas logo defende o namorado — afinal, segundo ela, é um homem, e é nisso que homens pensam. 

A fala de Victoria é rápida, mas deixa muito clara a construção social em que os personagens estão inseridos: homens são feitos para sexo e poucas emoções; mulheres são feitas para romance e muitos sentimentos. A personagem, mesmo que involuntariamente, tem um discurso sexista. Isso não significa, de forma alguma, que Victoria escolheu essa linha de pensamento — efetivamente, é apenas um exemplo perfeito de como tanto homens quanto mulheres são submetidos às garras da masculinidade tóxica. 

De formas diferentes, esta é uma questão que acomete a todos os gêneros. O professor Everton Marcos Grison falou sobre essas distinções. “Para os homens, a masculinidade tóxica é de formação. Está na base da cultura em que o indivíduo vai se estruturando. (...) Para as mulheres, o machismo se apresenta como resultado (...) de uma cultura e da formação dos homens. A violência é descarregada nelas. Isso é tão terrível que, por vezes, elas próprias passam a ver normalidade nisso.”

O personagem de Kevin Myers não é o único a moldar uma personalidade para conseguir o que quer. Outro exemplo dentro de American Pie é Chris “Oz” Ostreicher (Chris Klein), jogador do time de lacrosse do colégio que passa a frequentar as aulas de coral porque, de acordo com ele, as garotas ali são todas virgens. 

Com o intuito de impressionar as cantoras, Oz passa a fingir uma sensibilidade que jamais teve, sem qualquer consideração pelas meninas que tenta conquistar. Além disso, seus amigos passam a caçoar de sua escolha, fazendo piadas sobre sua sexualidade — dando a entender, assim, que qualquer homem que faça parte de um coral é gay, e que ser gay é algo ruim e digno de discriminação. 

Outro acontecimento chamativo é a relação de Jim Levenstein com Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), uma intercambista da Tchecoslováquia.  Os jovens combinam de estudarem juntos na casa do garoto, e Nadia pede alguns minutos para trocar de roupa depois do treino de ballet. Seguindo a sugestão de Stifler, Levenstein ajeita a câmera do computador para transmitir ao vivo imagens de Nadia se despindo em seu quarto. 

A intenção era que seus amigos assistissem à garota, mas, por algum erro, a transmissão acaba alcançando todos os alunos da escola. O acontecimento chega à família de Nadia, e ela é imediatamente forçada a interromper o intercâmbio e retornar ao seu país de origem. Jim Levenstein não sofre nenhuma consequência por tê-la posto nesta situação de vulnerabilidade. 

As circunstâncias acima descritas são apenas alguns dos exemplos que American Pie proporciona para uma análise mais ampla da sociedade machista na qual vivemos. A arte e a realidade andam em conjunto — em sua sensibilidade, essência, política e representatividade. 

Sobre o assunto, Grison destacou a relevância do cinema como elemento social. “Os filmes falam também da realidade e reproduzem padrões.” Fora isso, ele comentou que o audiovisual “tem caminhado muito para questionar os modelos retrógrados e machistas” na atualidade. 

É de suma importância que os padrões tóxicos sejam reconhecidos na estrutura de sociedade em que o mundo se encontra, para que, desta forma, novos hábitos, mais justos e saudáveis, possam substituí-los. A arte, a cultura e o engajamento social são grandes engrenagens para a construção de uma convivência harmoniosa, com base em respeito, igualdade e equidade.

im so whimsical and joyous (procrastinating) and im also losing my mind so here is another of my analyses of Oz and Stiflers' dynamic. here's one that I can't really explain that well, so you'll have to bare with me -

from the deleted scenes of the original AMERICAN PIE :

joking around. barely paying attention to anyone else in the group. In typical Stifler fashion, he mocks Oz's job, acting all dismissive, poking fun at him - all that stuff.

now this doesn't seem like an important detail, at first.

Well, let me pull up this scene from later on -

(ps the original script makes me laugh SO MUCH i love it)

Despite acting as if he doesn't give a flying fuck about Oz's job - STIFLER KEEPS NOTE. So much so, that he's able to recite where Oz would be when asked.

Better yet, Heather knows for a fact that Oz has other (arguably more respectable) friends. Yet, she chooses to ask STIFLER, of all people, to help - if that doesn't show how solid their bond is, I don't know what does.

goodmorning all im here to analyse all the Oz + Stifler scenes/interactions I have saved because they are so pookie to me. for reasons that i cannot explain. sigh

from the original AMERICAN PIE :

(ignore finch this isn't about him smh..)

i would like to point - Oz is the only one to get a nice nickname from him*. "Nova" - or, "Casanova, the guy with all the moves". Sure, "Fuckface" is another nickname he gets - but good lord listen to the way he says it. No malice intended there. And he's so excited to see him, too; and the way Oz returns that energy, even when the rest of his friends aren't all that keen on Stifler.

Stifler just. Disregards everyone else, in favour of Oz. The only presence he's worried about at the party later is Oz's. I guess it helps that Oz is the only one of the group to really have any sort of connection with him.

*(edit because holy SHIT I've just missed something so big) Oz doesn't just get one nice nickname - By technicality, there's two.

"Ozzy". A diminutive of a pre-existing nickname; and, if I remember correctly, Stifler is the ONLY ONE to call him "Ozzy" regularly, across all movies.

The odd thing about Stifler - he's weirdly incessant that everyone in his immediate social circle gets laid (excluding Finch, as they're not exactly friends), as soon as possible... Everyone aside from Oz.

With Kevin - He made fun of him for not having sex with Vicky, despite how long they'd been dating. With Jim - He sets up the entire plan revolving around the webcam. But as soon as Oz shows interest in someone... He becomes strangely discouraging. Insisting that it'll never happen, especially with the likes of Heather.

Heather is a whole different topic - But Stifler, mainly throughout 1 and 2, has a blairingly obvious disliking towards her. There's a hard clash in personalities between them, first off... But that's a topic for a later analysis (stay tuned 😈‼️)
