“When morning comes, once again I’m a convenience store worker, a cog in society. This is the only way I can be a normal person.” 🐟✨🐟✨🐟 Sayaka Murata’s novel Convenience Store Woman is a quirky read about a woman who has worked in a convenience store for 18 years and cannot fathom her life beyond the store. This translated contemporary literary fiction is incredibly unique. At times funny and sometimes sad, this novella like book was deeply compelling. I found that once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down - I had to know more about Keiko Furukura and the store she felt so connected to. Keiko has always been different, and so she tried to mimic others to fit in with them because she knows that she isn’t understood or considered “normal” by the people in her life, and her choice to stay in her job and remain unmarried. When she decides to “adopt” a former male coworker who also has trouble fitting in, that’s when things in Keiko’s life become way more complicated, rather than easier, as she intended. Incredibly intriguing, this book was a joy to read, and I’d highly recommend it to fans of literary fiction! 🐟✨🐟✨🐟 Convenience Store Woman is book 13 for 2021. #bookstragram #books #booksofinstagram #booklover #bookphoto #reading #aussieswhoread #avidreader #bookwhore #aussiereader #bookdragon #reader #readersofig #booksofig #bookcommunity #bookish #bibliophile #readersofinstagram #bookstagrammer #booklife #bookaddict #girlswhoread #readinggoals2021 #auskiwibooksta #bookquote #conveniencestorewoman #conveniencestorewomanbook #sayakamurata #translatedfiction #contemporaryliteraryfiction https://www.instagram.com/p/CLWkiZkAz2_/?igshid=1qvh22vyqdvrq
