Mint has been merged with Credit Karma, and the result is incredibly disappointing. Do you have any suggestions for a replacement budgeting app?

We were hoping YOU could tell US!

No seriously, we are also devastated at the closure of Mint (merger, whatever... the point is Mint is no more). It was our go-to recommendation for budgeting software.

The best alternative we know of is YNAB: You Need a Budget. But I haven't done a price comparison yet, and we haven't personally tested it.

Anybody have some good alternatives to Mint?

O' highly esteemed and knowledgeable Bitches, I first off wanted to say that I am one payment away from fully paying off my beater of a car and the thought of having that extra money to throw at other bills is exhilarating! Secondly, because of this extra money I am looking into possibly consolidating my other bills. Interest rates on credits cards are too fucking high and it's seemingly impossible to make a dent in paying anything off. A friend has told me to look into Credit Karma to search around for loan providers before committing to a bank, but I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with sites like that. Is Credit Karma and other sites like it trustworthy enough or should I stick to my guns and go with my bank for loan?

Credit Karma is considered very safe and legitimate. We endorse it, and after looking at its security measures, I can confidently say I'd use it myself if the need ever came up.

We also advise shopping around for loans, rather than just going with your personal bank for convenience's sake. You can get much better terms if you hunt around, and Credit Karma can probably help with that. We explain a bit more about shopping around for loans here:

How Credit Report Errors Occur

Credit errors can occur for a couple of reasons:

Mixed Files: Someone could have the same name or a similar name to yours and they applied for credit and the file got mixed up with yours.

Identity Theft: Someone could have stolen your social security number and they opened a new account in your name.

Furnisher Errors: Furnishers are banks, debt collectors and others that report the information that shows up on your credit report. A clerical error could have occurred.

Re-Aging of Old Debts: Certain debts are supposed to age off your credit report within a certain amount of time. Re-aging can occur when a debt is sold to a third-party collector.
