This past weekend Pattern Talent had a first time experience participating in a craft fair! All thanks to my friend and a huge supporter @luk.its.joanna my one-woman show business was taken to Polish-American fair in Doylestown, PA as a part of her Magic of Poland shop that featured artwork and designs by artists from Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. Being from the neighboring countries of Poland and Belarus, Joanna and I share a lot of cultural references and an appreciation of nature, the countryside and the wildlife (cue wild strawberries, mushrooms and woodland critters before they became a trend :). I would like to introduce the final (for now!) collection of my silk scarves - In The Dark! It is inspired by the night - real and metaphorical, ocean depths, night time forest and all the shades of the dark. The night holds so many beautiful things. It can be the time of quiet, rest, contemplation and mystery, happy solitude or shared sacred time. It can also be the time of adventures, travel, lit city walks or star naming. Luminescent marine fauna, nocturnal birds, insects and animals, flowers that only bloom and/or smell at night - with a touch of divination and magic - were my inspiration for this collection. VASE FULL OF LOVE is the next prompt for the #bloomingmarchweek challenge. 🌼🌸 Flowers are love indeed, don't you agree? I wanted to do a peach-yellow bouquet and made this one out of about 10 reference photos. 🌼🍑 I was going for a celadon ceramic vase which I think didn't translate very well, oh well! This is the biggest watercolor bouquet I've ever done. Surprisingly, I'm happier with the flowers and not so happy about the vase. But that is definitely not the biggest problem in today's world! Plus, we are blessed with the modern gift of Photoshop, so I'll see what I can do. When I paint something, I'm so focused on flaws in the end and it's all I can see. It takes time for me to be able to look at my artwork like another person and see the general picture. Not focusing on the damn vase 😅 Can anybody relate? I think we're beginning to see a pattern here 😉 (pun intended)! Hi 👋🏼 I'm Darya, a surface pattern and textile designer and artist. I enjoy creating designs for home interiors and stationery (but really, I'm not limited by the area, it's more about the inspiration, technique and process for me). I've been searching for my art style for quite some time now as I use about 3 different, even conflicting ones (1️⃣ soft and sophisticated watercolor, 2️⃣ flat kids' designs and 3️⃣ sketchy brush work. With 4️⃣ - sprinkles of line drawing 🤪). I have been trying to bring them all to a common denominator and here's the result 💁‍♀️ I get bored when staying too long in one niche, even a favorite one. I've been struggling with this feeling as it's very common for me to switch but it seems to be frowned upon and misunderstood. I'm currently reading a book by Barbara Sher about "scanners" - people who just have a different way of thinking and thrive on multitude.
