A cheap day out with the kids at Billy Bobs Myerscough
What a fantastic afternoon we had down at Billy Bobs Outdoor and Indoor undercover play area. It was a dry afternoon and i was looking after my Niece 7 and Nephew 4, so we thought it was a good time to go and have a look at the new attraction that has recently opened so that we can let our guests know and recommend it.
Here’s the low down…
Located off Garstang Road in Barton, Preston is close to the M55
Plenty of free parking when you get there
£2 entry fee for children which gets them a wristband for 2 hours play
Large outdoor play park and an indoor barn which has rope swings, zip wires and slides
Kiosk sells milkshakes, ice cream, waffles and pancakes
You aren’t allowed to bring in your own food
Toilets look like port a loos but inside they are actually proper toilets!
From the Shippon Luxury Holiday Let it is approximately 20 minutes drive you turn off the main A6 at Southplanks and follow the drive to the right to the Billy Bobs car park. Parking is free and its a large car park, entry to Billy Bobs is £2 per child for 2 hours of play which we thought was great value for money.
Once inside the kids went to the indoor play area, it was a Saturday afternoon and relatively busy but not too busy. The indoor barn is subdivided into 3 sections to the right there are quite a few slides for the kids to enjoy, rope swings and bales of hay. Plenty of seating for the adults. The middle section again rope swings and a soft foam pit and a bucking bull. To the left a couple of zip wires. The children were all having fun , i would recommend to have your coats on as it can be a little chilly.
Outside there is a large outdoor play area with lots of climbing frames in the style of transport vehicles all with slides. There is a couple of catering vans where you can purchase ice cream, hot food,hot and cold drinks all at reasonable prices again plenty of seating areas.
The other great attraction is the old American School Bus that is fitted out with tables and chairs so that you can go in there and have your refreshments, The children can also pretend to drive the bus too.
To summarise we had a great afternoon here, the kids had lots of fun we will certainly be going back, it looked like they are developing the site further there is another one at Skipton which has an American Diner https://www.billybobsparlour.com/.

One of my favourite local places to visit that is FREE.
One of my favourite places to visit locally is Beacon Fell Country Park. It really is only a few minutes drive from The Shippon Luxury Holiday Let and is FREE day out . It can get busy during the holidays in the summer its lovely to take a picnic and have a seat on one of the many picnic benches dotted around the park.
The Beacon Fell Country Park consists of 110 hectares (271 acres) of woodland, moorland and farmland. The Beacon Fell summit is 266 metres (873 feet) above sea level and offers spectacular views of the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay. On a clear day it is even possible to see the Isle of Man.
There is an abundance of wildlife for those who are prepared to be observant. Rabbits and hares are frequent and are easily spotted. Roe deer are a little more elusive, but patience may well be rewarded! Stoats and weasels can be seen running across the road or clambering over the dry stone walls. As many as 11 species of dragonflies and damselflies may be seen around the ponds during the summer months.
There are numerous walking trails to suit all abilities, there is also a cafe where you can enjoy a hot lunch or an ice cream or just coffee and cake. The visitors centre also hosts events and exhibitions.
