if you could predict your own perfect ending/happy endings for each of the characters, not just romantically, but individually as well, where do you hope they all end up by the end of the show? i'd love to know your thoughts...

Let's see...

I want to see Preach continue to teach and really inspire kids. If he can manage the classroom and earn their respect and then foster in them a desire to learn??? Hopefully he gets paid more and has tenure as all educators should. I'd love to see a fostered mentorship with Jordan and the continued closeness he shares with Coop. And I hope he and Amina make each other so, so happy.

I want to continue to see the closeness between Denise, Laura, and Grace. I want Denise to find herself a man who is thoroughly blown away by her and worships her if she still wants that in her life. I want Grace to be super settled and happy with Carter, and I hope that carries on in Oakland if that's where they want to be. Hopefully she'll be a badass city planner.

And I want to see Laura thrive in whatever she's passionate about. The teaching thing was a 180 for me, but if that's what she wants to do, she should. Not sure if she'll have a new partner, but she'll definitely be surrounded by her family and loved ones.

I want to see JJ helping people. He loves people and has a big heart that should be in use. Maybe he'd take part in social work or as a candy striper or something. He doesn't need the money, so he can really follow whatever passion he wants. And I want to see him with a boyfriend, but that's a pipe dream for now.

I want to see catience together and stronger than ever as a team. I fear for Patience's life if she continues singing, and she was so wishy washy about her fame and passion this season. So no clue what I want to see her doing. And I absolutely want to see Coop killing it as an incredible lawyer. I've been very on board with this new focus for her, and I'm excited for her.

I want to see jasher together with their kid. I want to see Jaymee continue to bring the best out of Asher, and I want to see Asher continue to be a stable force amidst the uncertainties Jaymee faces day to day. I want to see them as a strong family unit, whatever that looks like. And I want to see Asher continue to put his coaching talents to great use. Love this career path for him.

I want to see Spelivia together and married and thrive as the true power couple they are. I want to see Spencer as the star he is in the NFL and Olivia out in the stands cheering him on. I want to see Olivia with a handful of Pulitzers and continue to make serious change in the sports world and/or the rest of the world. I want to see them with a kid because they have so much love to give as potential parents. I want to see them surrounded by their family and friends.

I want to see Jordayla married and hopefully with a little girl. That would be full circle for Layla's time capsule. I want to see Jordan as QB in the NFL, and if he happens to find another passion later on, I want to see that too. It'd be very cool if he and Spencer were on the same team still, but I can't bank on that. I want to see Layla as a producing mogul where she eclipses her dad in talent and success. And I want to see Jordan and Layla keep the people in their lives that they cherish close to them.

I want happy endings for everyone! I want to see ambition and success and joy and continued friendship and so much love.

Nothing brings me greater pleasure than when Luke and Jess exchange silent glances like “Can you believe this corny shit?” The meeting is being held to discuss the feud between Taylor and the Hippie with the farmers market. This seems like a personal dispute that could have been an email.

At the meeting Taylor Karens harder than he's ever Karen'd before.

Why don't you mind your god damn beeswax, Rory-No-Job-Gilmore. This is getting old and frankly kinda weird. I’m really raring for one of those delicious scenes where Jess or Dean takes her down a peg.

After the meeting adjourns, The Convention of the Male Karens + a wildly out of place Kirk meet outside in order to remind Luke what a piece of shit his uncle was and that they’re not going to his funeral. Taylor sure sounds confident that the people of Stars Hollow won’t also spit on his grave and sing a happy song when he croaks. Frankly I don't even think there will be a grave. I've always envisioned Taylor being stuffed into a sack and tossed over his beloved bridge to become swan food along with Shane, who Jess slaughtered after the Dance Marathon.

There isn’t enough rock throwing in this show. In my gritty unrated Gilmore Girls reboot titled The Hollow, more people will throw rocks at Taylor Doose.

I paused just so I could enjoy a few moments of anticipation before she reveals what the exciting Early 2000's internet application is.

Golly! I miss this early 2000's optimism about a Future with Internet.

It's streaming in right now, but sorry Lorelai, she can't send you any pictures of Prague. Corporate tech overlords have deecreed that picture taking is forbidden and must be blocked with a blacked out screen of death. No Prague for you.

That's rich coming from Miss "Brainwashed By Dean Forrester".

Jess Mariano: Toils in the coffee mines every day and night before and after school for sub minimum wage and eventually, on top of working a second job, minds his business, dutifully pours your coffee, no chit chat, all business. No one tips him. Lorelai Gilmore: Does a mediocre job taking orders for 1 hour and gets a 4 star Yelp review because she's Quirky. Lorelai to me, TWWGG: What's a Yelp? Me: Nevermind.

Rory, I mean this in the kindest, gentlest way possible, because I know you are a sensitive soul... Fuck all the way off. Fuck you and also your boyfriend and your mother (okay, she's not that bad in this episode). The "Get back to work" routine wasn't cute the first time when he was trying to enjoy a few precious moments to himself before school, but now he's literally working. He's like a foot away from you. Let the boy go upstairs and jerk off, sheesh. What a weird z-plot.

Rory works a job for two days and becomes drunk with power.

I really hope that when Lorelai goes back to work, Michel has some choice French curse words for her after leaving him in a lurch to cover her shift 3 times in a week for Diner Guy.

Hey look Rory, a job opening! You gonna apply or what?

This was really sweet.

So many things are throwing off the balance of the Gilly Girls Universe lately. Rory gets a job and becomes a control freak. Rory pays for her food. Lorelai dispenses reasonable advice. Lorelai's meddling is at a minimum. Lorelai is uncharacteristically pleasant. Dean is nowhere to be found (is that why Lorelai is so tolerable?) Scott Patterson without a hat.

The embodiment of evil

Nothing would stand in the way of this man’s twisted fantasies.

As Jayme Closs boarded the school bus, she had no idea of the evil that was watching. Happily chatting to her friends, Jayme didn’t notice Jake Patterson, 21, on the way to his job at a cheese factory.

Patterson was a man with disturbing fantasies. He dreamed of abducting girls. Seeing young Jayme, he’d chosen his victim. Jayme, just 13, loved sports and dancing. As an only child, she was everything to her parents James and Denise.

But nothing would stand in Patterson’s way. Obsessed with his fantasy, he found out where the Closs family lived.

Visiting their house twice, he was scared off both times. But, on 15 October 2018 - his third visit - Patterson put his sick plan into action. It was 1am when he pulled into the Closs’ driveway in Barron, Wisconsin, USA. Dressed in black, he wore a mask, hat and gloves. He’d even shaved his head and put fake number plates on his car.

As he approached the house, the Closs’ dog started barking. Alarmed, Jayme woke up and saw a dark figure approaching the house. She ran to wake her parents. James immediately saw the intruder was carrying a gun and told Denise and Jayme to hide in the bathroom.

They locked the bathroom door and cowered together in silence as James went down to investigate. James shouted through the front door. But, as he did, Patterson lifted his gun and shot James through the window, right in his head.

Jayme’s brave father was killed instantly.

Determined to get to Jayme, Patterson blasted his way into the house. When he came to the locked bathroom, he started kicking down the door. Frantic, Denise called 911. But she didn’t get a chance to say a word. Patterson had barged his way into the bathroom.

There was Denise, desperately hugging her terrified daughter.

Patterson ordered her to cover up Jayme’s mouth with duct tape, but impatiently snatched the tape from Denise and did it himself, binding Jayme’s hands and ankles. Then he lifted his gun and cruelly shot Denise in the head, in front of her petrified daughter.

Leaving Denise’s body in the bath, Patterson dragged the distraught and hysterical Jayme out of the house and into his car. He then drove the girl to his remote cabin, 60 miles away. There, he burned the clothes that Jayme was wearing, and dressed her in a pair of his sisters old pyjamas.

When the police arrived at the home of the Closs family, they were horrified. There were so many questions about what could have happened.

Where was Jayme? Could it be possible that she’d shot her parents?

But the theory was fast dismissed - and the police realised then that Jayme was in danger. They launched a nationwide manhunt, with volunteers searching the area and thousands of dollars offered in rewards.

But, as the months passed, hope of ever finding the teenager safe again faded and vanished. Little did anyone know she was being held hostage.

Jayme's life with Patterson was hell. When he went out, he'd force Jayme under his bed and barricade her in, with no food or water.

Too scared to move, she'd already seen Patterson murder her beloved parents. What would he do to her if she disobeyed him?

But on 10 January 2019, after 88 days held hostage, Jayme saw her chance to escape, Patterson went out for a few hours.

So, using all her strength, Jayme pushed her way out from under the bed. She put on a pair of Patterson's shoes and ran. Soon, she came across a woman walking her dog and begged her for help.

Concerned, the woman took the underweight and disheveled teenager to her friend's house, and called the police. Both woman now recognized Jayme from the missing person posters plastered all over the area.

Meanwhile, Patterson had returned home to find Jayme missing. He jumped in his car, but soon after was arrested. Jayme was traumatized, but finally safe. And, as she tried to recover from her horrendous ordeal, the police wanted to find out more about Patterson.

He had no criminal record. People who knew him said he seemed quiet, unassuming. Yet, he'd committed the most unthinkable crimes.

In March 2019, Jake Patterson pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional homicide and one count of kidnapping.

Jayme didn't appear in court, but her lawyer read her victim impact statement: "Jake Patterson took a lot of things that I love away from me," she wrote. "There are some things that Jake Patterson can never take from me. He can't take my freedom. He thought he could own me and he was wrong. I will always have my freedom and he will not."

Sentencing Patterson to life in prison without the chance of parole, the judge said, "There is no doubt in my mind that you are one of the most dangerous men to ever walk on this planet."

He called Patterson the 'embodiment of evil'. In a final statement to the court, Patterson claimed remorse. "I don't care about me, I'm just so sorry." he said, fighting back tears.

But his empty words can do nothing to erase the horror he inflicted on that innocent young girl and her parents.

Kidnapping of Jayme Closs

Jayme Lynn Closs (b. July 13, 2005) is the only child of James and Denise Closs of Barron, Wisconsin. On October 5, 2018, Jake Patterson drove to the Closs home to kidnap Jayme Closs. Activity in the home deterred him, as he was afraid he would leave witnesses. Patterson made a second attempt two days later but again aborted for the same reason. On October 15, he made a third visit, this time armed with a shotgun. Shortly before 12:53 a.m, Patterson parked his car at the end of the driveway. Wearing a black coat and ski mask, he approached the front door of the home, carrying the shotgun. James Closs, 56, shone a light on Patterson through a glass pane in the front door and asked him to show him his badge. Patterson called out, "Open the fucking door!" Patterson fired once, fatally shooting Closs. Forcing his way into the house, Patterson checked every room in the house because he wanted "no witnesses left behind." He found the bathroom door locked and began shooting it down. Inside the bathroom were Denise Closs, 46, and Jayme. Denise was comforting Jayme, who was crying loudly. At 12:53 a.m., Denise Closs made a 911 call.

While Denise Closs did not speak, the operator heard a disturbance and yelling before the phone call disconnected. When the dispatcher called the number back, they reached the voicemail of Denise Closs. Patterson bound Jayme's wrists and ankles using duct tape, then fatally shot Denise Closs. He dragged Jayme outside, almost slipping on blood, placed her in the trunk of his car, and drove away. The police arrived four minutes after the 911 call. Patterson later told investigators that he pulled over 20 seconds down the road from the house. Deputies sped by with emergency lights and sirens on. Neighbors said they heard two gunshots but dismissed them since hunting was common around their homes. After arriving at his cabin, Patterson made Closs change into a different pair of pajamas, then forced her under his mattress and sealed off all exits before going to sleep.

Patterson believed that Closs was too afraid of him to make any escape attempts. He “never put special locks on doors because she wouldn’t escape.” They also slept on the same bed. Patterson would rarely let Closs out of the cabin, only for brief walks on the lawn after checking for bystanders. On the afternoon of January 10, 2019, Patterson told Closs he was leaving for a couple of hours. He put her under his bed before boxing her inside with his belongings, per his usual routine. After he departed, Closs pushed out the objects around the bed. She ran from the house wearing a light shirt, leggings, and a pair of Patterson's sneakers. Closs came across a local woman, Jeanne Nutter, walking her dog. Nutter recognized Closs from news reports and immediately took her to a neighbor's house. After police were called, Closs told them "Jake Patterson" had killed her parents, taken her, and kept her prisoner just a few houses away from her current location in the neighborhood. The neighbors described Closs as calm, quiet, dazed, and surprised that they recognized her from news coverage.

The police arrived around 4:45 p.m. and removed Closs from the area for her safety. The description Closs provided for Patterson and his vehicle enabled deputies to spot his car just minutes afterwards when Patterson drove by the house. After a deputy stopped him, Patterson exited his vehicle and said, "I did it."

A hospital admitted Closs under guard. The next morning, they released her to the custody of her aunt, Jennifer Smith. Hormel, the parent company of the Jennie-O store where Closs's parents worked, announced on January 24 that they would grant $25,000 reward money to Closs for rescuing herself.

Womens Murder club 2007

Women's Murder Club is an American police procedural and legal drama, which aired on ABC from October 12, 2007, to May 13, 2008. The series is set in San Francisco, California, and is based on the series of novels by the same name written by James Patterson.

Thoughtz:

I love the friendship between the main characters.

Lindsay Boxer is our main spunky main character. She’s hard working and cares about getting justice for her victims. Unfortunately her hardworking nature ruins her personal life as a result.

Dr. Claire figures out the forensics of the case getting all the info she can get from the body. She’s sweet and cares about her friends.

Cindy Thomas a reporter who is the newest addition to the team. She’s hilarious and can always be found at the crime scenes.

Jill Bernhardt is a lawyer. She’s constantly arguing with Denise Kwon. She’s a bleeding heart.

Overall a solid show. I wish it had gotten a second season I would have liked to see where it would have gone.

What do you think the bidding war between Layla and Denise would have looked like in 5x10 if Layla had the chance to bid on Jordan? What do you think Olivia's reaction would have been and how do you think Layla would have explained herself?

hahahaha fun thought. Denise is so funny.

She left no room for any lady to bid on Jordan. So that would've played the same. She would've said, "Sold to me!" And Jordan and Layla would've exchanged frantic looks. Layla might've been too stunned to do anything.

And Jordan might've said, "Well, wait, is that fair?"

And Denise would've fired back with, "Get a move on, honey. Your time in the limelight is done." And he would've looked back and forth from Layla to Denise and been like, ok?

So Layla would've slumped back in her seat. And Olivia might've noticed the silent exchange, but she also might not have. She probably would've noticed Layla's sudden mood shift. And she'd have asked what was wrong, and Layla would've sighed and said "nothing."

Then there may have been room for her to press further and ask, "Were you gonna bid on Jordan?"

And Layla might've blushed and said quickly, "Yeah, you know, we agreed beforehand that I would for Jaymee."

And Olivia might've opened her mouth to say something else but maybe would've been distracted by Spencer, or Layla would've received the cease and desist request or gone to "run an errand."

Touched by Angels -- Musing 287

Lay Down Your Weary Tune— Surely this is Bob Dylan moved by angels

From his very first (1962) album “Bob Dylan” through (1966) “Blonde on Blonde” I not only admired Bob Dylan; I not only listen to all his records, constantly; I not only learned how to play his songs; I not only memorized his lyrics; I deified him.

To me, then a northern Sweden teenager, the U.S. phenomenon called Bob Dylan brought the remote, real, important outside world to my cold, snowy, and by comparison unimportant doorstep.

New York, to me just a step or two above myth and fable (though it was, it must be said (since I am Swedish), the town where Ingemar Johansson, on the 26th of June, 1959, scored a third-round knockout against Floyd Patterson in their first World Boxing Champion title bout—I, along with the rest of my country, was awake at two in the morning or thereabouts (on the 27th), to hear Arne Thorén deliver the play by play, or blow by blow rather, on Swedish radio), this mythical city and all its magic was sung into my northern universe by this nasal American who spoke for a generation, though he always denied this.

Later in life, I came to wonder if some of his songs were not actually amphetamine-induced streams (nay, rivers; nay, floods) of consciousness. Dylan’s close friend Bobby Neuwirth once said that “Like a Rolling Stone”, still a very long song, originally sported fifty-odd verses—that’s a flood that just kept on flooding.

Apropos of which, I have remained amazed all my life at how Dylan remembered all the words during live performances.

But fast forward some years and all was no longer well in my Dylan universe. A friend of mine had told me that Dylan had stolen “Blowin’ In the Wind” from some unknown upstate New York folkie (my friend also happened to be from upstate New York). I did not believe her when she told me, and I’m not sure I believe her now.

HOW-ever, I had found out that Dylan was not beyond helping himself to available non-Dylan fare and then serving it up as his creation.

Clearest case in point: the traditional “The Parting Glass” (to listen: see below) which Dylan lifted almost wholesale and recorded and released as “Restless Farewell” on his “The Times…” (to listen: see below) album. This is so clearly a rip-off that if History could sue, it would have filed its complaint ages ago, and won hands down.

But then, as if to make up for this and set everything right in my Dylan universe again, there’s “Lay Down Your Weary Tune” (to listen: see below).

This song, which actually never made it onto an official Dylan Album—it was an outtake from the “The Times They Are A-Changing” sessions—is such a magic pearl of a song that I can only conclude that Dylan was moved by angels.

Many others agree. The Byrds recorded it on their second album “Turn! Turn! Turn!” (to listen: see below) and Billy Bragg championed the song as well.

Dylan was 23 when he released “The Times…” but when you listen to “Lay Down Your Weary Tune” you are listening to a much older man, perhaps an immortal one.

Lay down your weary tune, lay down Lay down the song you strum And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings No voice can hope to hum

Struck by the sounds before the sun I knew the night had gone The morning breeze like a bugle blew Against the drums of dawn

Hearing this, I’m hearing Rimbaud singing, I am hearing Rumi laughing. Unearthly. I’m listening to Robert Frost or Walt Whitman or Denise Levertov. I’m hearing the Nobel Prize committee giving serious thought to awarding Dylan that most coveted of all literary prizes. Oh, yeah, that’s right, they eventually did just that.

The ocean wild like an organ played The seaweed wove its strands The crashin’ waves like cymbals clashed Against the rocks and sands

I stood unwound beneath the skies And clouds unbound by laws The cryin’ rain like a trumpet sang And asked for no applause

Hearing this, I’m standing by my own Pacific Ocean shore and I can hear the organ play, I can see the seaweed weave their strands and the rolling waves of incoming tide horses crashing on the sand; and I wonder, how did he know?

The last of leaves fell from the trees And clung to a new love’s breast The branches bare like a banjo played To the winds that listened best I gazed down in the river’s mirror And watched its winding strum The water smooth ran like a hymn And like a harp did hum

I hear Robin Williamson’s “October Song” (Dylan, by the way, said he loved The Incredible Sting Band), I see Swedish October forests, and I can smell their sweet autumn decay settling in for their long, snow-covered slumber. And so he adds, by way of leave-taking the final round of refrain.

Lay down your weary tune, lay down Lay down the song you strum And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings No voice can hope to hum

I was in my sixties when I decided to learn how to play this song. It was a labor of love performed by stiffening fingers and leaky memory. But I learned it and I played it, even recorded it (privately) as a tribute to the immortal Dylan.

And to this day I remain convinced that poetry is the language of the angels.
