Some tidbits about Ada so far.
In the previous world, her fragile body was encased inside Deus Machina: Nirvana. Despite becoming a marionette, her conscious still lies within that she'll protect her brother Carl, who unintentionally became the wielder of the said Nox Nyctores.
Yet in an unexpected twist of fate, the Clover siblings were transported to a world they're not familiar of. Moreover, they were even separated while the marionette's mechanical body was in shambles.
While Carl's whereabouts were unknown, Nirvana was found in a ruined church by a group of hoodlums who were initially rummaging for any resources they may find useful. At first, they thought that this puppet was merely an object yet with valuable parts. But at a closer look, one may see flesh underneath the ceramic face.
As soon as they retrieved her body, their boss had taken interest to this marionette. The said boss, who actually runs an organization that plans to take over the world, recreated Ada's body will keeping her human remains and the Core. Had it made her appear more human, her arms and lower body were made of different properties.
Serving to a new master, her duty is to follow orders from the who gave her another life. Yet with her memories of her past being erased, will she ever recall those who are important to her in her past life?
If she meets her brother soon, will she be able to regain her memories?

Fact of the day
Celica and Nirvana used to be really close. There were times when Celica would just cuddle up to the doll and Nirvana would try her best to pat her on the head. The two cooked together, and Nirvana would walk Celica to and from school.

Submitted Prompt: Flowers of the Nirvana and the World of Green.
Who wants to read more about hawkmoth’s stupidity in making nonsensically powerful Akumas?
Well, this AU is here to show you that the canon Gabriel has better chances of dying and killing everyone instead of getting the two miraculouses.
——-
So we know how this goes.
Someone in paris gets upset for one reason or another, and Hawkmoth gets the feeling that this Akuma will definitely win this time, especially if her powers are off the charts.
This time, it’s two 10-years-old sibilings who were sad because, well, they both like nature, flowers, plants, gardening and all that, and they hate the fact that some people tell them not to care about the flowers getting hurt by Akumas or other reasons because this can be fixed and all will be fine, right?
-
Regardless, at some point they get too upset about this and the vllain targets them and they both transform into Nirvana Flowers, a nature-themed Akuma who have a much more powerful and improved versions of the powers of Poison Ivy (DC comics character that can control plants). They both had a green colored skin, had beautiful clothes made flower petals and vines, and their hair was a mix of red and white, with few hints of other flower colors somewhere in their forms. Their Akumatised object is a bunch of seeds they were planning on planting somewhere close to their home.
They have full control of any plant in Paris, can control their growth speed and make them grow from something as small as a seed, and they can as well “connect” with any plant lifeform to a degree.
Unfortunately, their desire for simply protecting and nurturing the plant life was corrupted, and the Akumatised sibilings desired nothing more than “permanantly dealing” with the horrible humans.
They use their power to first make the plants and flowers close to their position grow at a rapid rate, and have said plants unleash their seeds (if they have any), and then control the seeds and have the seeds turn into plants, and repeat the process again, and as time goes, the amount plants being made becomes exponentially higher, and the plants start attacking the terrified population that is trying to escape, but some simply can’t and they fall prey to the plants that got a craving for their “nemesis”, the humans.
Hawkmoth looks pleased seeing the chaos, feeling completely confident that the heroes will lose this fight.
The Akuma’s power is spreading faster than the heroes can deal with, and they were quickly put on the defensive.
It was the day of his victory, he believes.
Unfortunately for him, he forgot one thing.
His house has not only plants, but it practically has a huge garden where Emilie’s body is, and that’s not even taking into consideration the amount of fauna that is around his mansion.
The Akuma does, and they use this to directly have the fauna grow and practically lock down the mansion, closing the doors and windows with branches and vines.
Hawkmoth doesn’t realize a thing as the sound of the plants was not as high as the screams outside, but he does when suddenly, the glass window shatters, and branches and vines quickly enter and bind his limbs before he processes anything.
The fauna, connected to and guided by the will of the Akuma, recognize the terrorist, and go straight for the miraculous before he can retaliate.
Gabriel finds himself detransformed, his miraculous taken and being transported to the Akumatised kids away from the eyes of the dwindling population.
This time, there is no deus ex machina to help save the day. The akuma had simply better powers that could be easily dealt with if quick enough, but were bery suited long and tiring battles, and had a lot of luck in that the Akuma had enough time to prepare.
Ultimately, the heroes lost, their miraculouses taken away after they were imprisoned by the plant life with no escape. There is no need to tell what happened to them afterwards, or to the rest of the worl as the Akuma put their sight on the areas outside of Paris.
In the end, the Akuma managed to deal with the entire population in the world, and the entire planet was full of energy-filled and living plants, flowers, trees, including those that were on the verge of the extinction.
The humans had all -except the Akuma- had disappeared, and the world was full of vibrating wild life that thrived under the rule of the two Akumatised kids for who knows how long.
So what’s the morale of this story?
Well, it’s simple:
If you were a magical terrorist that simply wants to take two pieces of magical jewelry, never ever give your victims some insanely overpowered world destroying powers that can harm you, and be satisfied by just giving them some detecting and stealth abilities. Those simple powers can work a lot better instead of some ability to literally throw the earth into the sun.
Throwing the earth into the sun may be flashy and cool, but better be alive to get the fruit of your work. Understood, stupid Hawkmoth? :)

Soul Eater
A unique drive that creates a black and red mist that turns into magic element(seithr) and drains everything it touches, devouring the souls of those around it, using them to heal its wielder and strengthen their life-force. The strongest possessors can control Soul Eater, making sure to limit this aura solely to contact; kissing a victim can drain the life-force much more quickly. Soul Eater has difficulty regenerating wounds caused by Nox Nyctores weapons, especially those caused by Deus Machina: Nirvana because its claws were made from Kushinada's Lynchpin.

Winning artwork from the BlazBlue Portable Release Illustration Contest
Comment from artist Izumi Yuukawa;
"It's a great honor to receive the grand prize. Since it's for an illustration contest, I thought I would draw the characters that I liked, but I liked all the characters from CT so I ended up cramming them all in. Since there's only fascinating characters, it was fun to draw. BlazBlue is the best!"
Comment from Mori Toshimichi;
"Izumi Yuukawa, congratulations on the grand prize. I thought the usage of color was very good, and the overall composition was arranged very neatly. I think it's quite difficult to draw all the characters together in a group, but please continue to love BlazBlue's characters in the future as well."

Mini Fanfic #2: Sibling's Quarrel (BlazBlue)
The masked swordman and the Grim Reaper began to Duke it out in front of Kagura's office, clashing their weapons with one another.
Hakumen: This will be that day that you WILL die by my blade, Dark One!
Ragna: ('Tch') In your dreams, you masked bitch! I'm just getting started here!
But before any of them could continue, a young woman with her Deus Machina , named Nirvana, stopped them from going any farther.
Celica: STOP!!!!!
Ragna: (Turns to see Celica and Nirvana in the middle of their match) C-Celica? What the hell are you doing?
Hakumen: Sister Celica! Why must you interrupted our fight in a time like this?!
Celica: Oh I dunno.... maybe it's because I saw my two boys trying to kill each other with no mercy!! And in front of Mister Mutsuki's front door.... seriously, guys?! Why are you two trying to hurt each other like this?
Hakumen: You must understand, Sister. (Points at Ragna) This man is the true essence of darkness itself. And I must do whatever it takes to destroy him at all cost!
Ragna: (Facepalms before groaning) Do I really need to tell you how many times this jackass tried to kill me? I swear, He makes Jin look like a saint in comparison...
Celica: Well either way, I'm disappointed in the both of you! Mr. Hakumen, I understand that your task are important and all but you shouldn't try killing your own brother like that! Ragna may be a lot a things, but he's absolutely not the bad person here!
Hakumen: (Surprised by Celica's words) Sister...
Ragna: (Smirks at Hakumen) Heh. Serves you right, asshole.
Celica: (Turns to Ragna) And as for you, mister, while I understand that it annoys you that Hakumen (and basically everyone else in the universe) is trying to kill you and all, that doesn't mean you have to stoop up to their level like that. You're an amazing person, Ragna. And I don't want you to let people get to you like that, you know?
Ragna: (Also Surprised) You really think that I'm a good person?
Celica: Of course I do, silly! You may be a Grim Reaper, but to me, you'll always be my hero, Ragna The Bloodedge!
Ragna: (Shocked by Celica's words) Celica....
Celica: And I also think that you two should try and get along with one another. Whether you want to believe it or not, you two are brothers. And brothers shouldn't try and kill each other on a daily basis like this.
Ragna: ('Heavy Sigh') Can't believe I'm saying this, but you have a point, Celica. We really should stop killing each other one of these days...even if I do hate his guts...
Hakumen: While I also don't want to admit this, I believe that you're right as well, Sister Celica. We'll try and get along for your sake.....no matter how troublesome it may be...
Celica: (Smiles Brightly) Thanks you guys! (Pulls Ragna and Hakumen in for a group hug) I know it may be difficult to do so now, but it really means so much that you'll try and get along. I know i might not be your real mother, but you guys are still important to me. And I wanna do whatever I can to keep you boys safe.

Hey so I started ORV about 2 weeks ago and I need to place down my feelings and I hope y’all appreciate it. Most of my predictions about immediate events turned out to be wrong, like they were through most of the novel, but some of the longer ranged ones might still be possible, and as you will read i haven’t edited these, so most of my stuff will be wrong, but I don’t much care, it’s stream of thought. Enjoy
Chapter 0-206
* Dokja will bookmark and use either Jonghyuk’s regression, or Nirvana’s reincarnation.
* Dokja will devour a constellation’s story in order to get their stigma, rather than go through the process of bookmarking it, with my personal guess being zeus and the lightning carnival since that’s been mentioned a bunch and he already has electrification.
* when the fourth wall has devoured things so far, dokja gets a better understanding of the being, so maybe if he devours a constellation like, say, zeus, he will gain a better understanding of the constellation to allow for bookmark
* Soon enough he’ll use unidentified wall to communicate with his allies, probably the underworld, maybe Uriel, definitely Jonghyuk and co. outside Seoul in an attempt to consolidate his power before the coming storm of the nebulae opposing him.
* Yoosung will find a way to be a sacrificial bastard like Dokja so she can upgrade her stigma from him by following his story.
* The fourth wall makes a lot of sense both as a representation of Dokjas inner thoughts and subconscious, mostly seen as the ways that he’s been traumatized, such as with his mother, are when he becomes most like the fourth wall and the benefits are lost.
* The being inside the wall that his mother saw is unclear to me, i could maybe see the subconscious pride and confidence that he has with himself and the knowledge he possesses, but it could also be the author in some fashion, especially with that bit of advice he got in the outer god’s stomach
* The fourth wall is a great piece of writing for every reason possible, but also makes sense within the universe as to how it can do this stuff: we see everywhere that when a constellation wants to do something direct, it has to use up probability, and anyone that wishes to oppose its actions can use some of that probability as well such as with Kyorgius (I don’t remember how to spell his name, the tiny man), or even the outer god, and probability storms are when nobody will use this probability to oppose them, the universe sets the balance right. And so the fourth wall uses probability
* The fourth wall represents two things: 1. how probable is it that a book character can affect a reader? that’s unlikely right? even more so to be able to know the reader in some intimate fashion? and 2. we see sparks every time someone tries to read his mind/abilities. the fourth wall essentially absorbs that probability and stops the skill, and i think a similar thing happened with the unidentified wall as it seemed to be using a lot of probability to do anything and the fourth wall just took it all in “with a bigger spark”
* the unidentified wall i think will possibly become “identified” as something, either a definite thing straight from ways of survival, or it will be open to possibility like Heewon’s crouching figure, in which case i see like a 30% chance it is influenced by the fourth wall and becomes something similar to it
* I definitely think there’s a possibility the secret plotter is related to the author, and you see it much more when in a reread the constellation seems to occasionally hear his thoughts or potentially understand more about the situation than it should be able to, without being overboard obvious about knowing dokja’s attributes.
* ok and with it laughing when he forces down the fourth wall, like he could tell what happened, and when he was “snapping at the great old ones looking at you,” I’d say he’s pretty damn powerful, maybe even more than narrative grade, and maybe it’ll just be the christian god or the devil or whatever something, but it could also be the author i think
* As we’ve seen most clearly from Dokja’s use of the sword song of the maritime war god, but not Jihye’s ghost fleet, constellations can have multiple stigmas, so i at least am predicting Dokja will give the fourth wall or possibly character list, or maybe even a copy of the ways of survival text (i definitely don’t think she’ll get ORV or bookmark though, those are protagonist powers), as a stigma later on for Yoosung, but i def could be wrong about that.
* I think there’s a possibility Sooyoung will tell everyone that Dokja is a reader before he gets back, but i could see it not happening.
* when 41st Yoosung is born as a dokkaebi, i wonder if using her channel will break the contract he and Bihyoung have. i think he might switch over to the channel for his covert revolution actions at the very least, and just block channel access to the vedas and the other nebulae, and might switch over his scenarioing to the new channel entirely
* actually, when he was in Seoul, he said his contract was cancelled, so maybe he can stream with the both of them now, or even just 41st Yoosung
* i think there’s a possibility that Sooyoung actually did plagiarize the text, but just doesn’t remember, either because she’s becoming more like a character like the two prophets, because when the author deleted the text from the internet her mind got frazzled, or when she made her first clones, the memory of reading it went with it and got destroyed when the clone died
* the author in the first chapter said that their story won a contest, and while in retrospect it seems like a lie, i wonder if there’s the possibility that like with peace land, who’s author sold the setting, if the author wrote the story either without meaning to
* like if Sooyoung actually did just write her own story from a dream, maybe the author did the same and just got more of the dream enough to realize the coming reality of the story, and maybe the dream was them acting like actual prophets to the world before the constellations were going to show up anyway
* the debt/free service time mentioned by the dokkaebi in the beginning is interesting, and i wonder if the end of the scenarios is having enough coins to buy either the planetary system or even just more time of free service away from the constellations.
* Dokja might eventually get more attributes, maybe something like writer or fanfiction writer or revisionist to get new powers given the ways he’s changing the story, either something like avatar (or maybe he’ll just use bookmark for that) as a way to either die more or make a nebulae out of one constellation, or some bullshit reality bending power like writing is, or just like a more reliable use of the other constellations’ Deus Ex Machina to do anything he wants, with enough probability of course
* compounded because in his attributes window we see more skills ■’d out
* given Myungoh’s daughter, will Dokja be adopting a 4th child in the near future?
* maybe asmodeus wants to feed the 73rd demon king to his child
* do you think anyone we’ve met, maybe someone from the constellation banquet, has the ancient dragon’s heart we see Dokja looking at in the Ichthyosaurs’ stomach?
* does/will Dokja look very different from how he did previously because of the golden dragon heart (which based on the heart we’ve seen previously should give him a lot of regen and storage of his magic) and the arm? along with the rest of the broken pieces that became his ruined body that probably only vaguely resemble his face? and the demonic energy he had before and might have again, and maybe ending up as the 73rd demon king
* his face is apparently blurry to people, even with a new story on it, i wonder if he’ll lower the fourth wall to let people see him at some point
* Jihye mentioned that his face is blurry, but Gilyoung has mentioned that he looks fine, so to me that indicates it’s maybe the fourth wall
* do you think there will be any romance by the end? i get the Jonghyuk and Dokja romance implications, but at least as far as the Fate goes, it looked a lot more to me that Dokja’s true love was the love of a good story, and that he died from the story he told with his friends, that proof alone isn’t enough for romance to me, so i could see it ending with none, no romance at all and the story just ends with Dokja and his 7 adopted children.
* why are there 72 demon kings, but they’re in the 73rd demon realm and asmodeus has 32 realms under his control? is there a mistranslation or a misunderstanding going on or what?
* maybe asmodeus absorbs/devours/suborns any demon king that he can and just takes his land, and so he wants the 73rd realm
* could be related to the question of asmodeus’s child above
* i think destroy evil from samyeondang might come up in the demon realm
Chapter 207-214
* I love Uriel now I think, and Biyoo
* i wonder if Dokja can bookmark unidentified wall, or if Hayoung can learn bookmark
* I’m unsure if the revolutionary will end up being a bad person or not, because i think I might have a problem if Dokja just kills the revolutionary, but maybe they’ll sacrifice themselves, or die elsewhere, or maybe they can give it up willingly, idk
* i could see the end of the novel being all the star stream being destroyed, which means no dokkaebis and no stories, so the constellations start to die, and we either get a sad ending of Dokja dying as a constellation, or we get a nice one of him (and maybe some other nice constellations) surviving on Biyoo’s Bootleg, or maybe the same barstardry he pulls, with him doing another “I don’t die when I am killed” and coming back from death again
* I wonder if Hayoung and maybe Dokja will find/convince the 15 year old to allow/make a way for Sooyoung to keep her sanity while following the story, like maybe a new story for the constellation, idk
* ooh shit, Dokja having read the story is spreading, yoo sangah at least suspects, i wonder if everyone will know by the time he gets back
* it’d be a funny scene if Uriel notices Biyoo’s Bootleg and tells Jonghyuk about it to avoid the dokkaebi, and so they miss each other for a bit until Dokja does something stupid/self-sacrificing enough (maybe by a plan from the Duke) that Jonghyuk realizes it’s him and comes and saves him
* i had a dream the dokkaebi had british accents whenever they spoke, and the idea of a foul mouthed floating cat going around saying “oi cunts moider each other or ah’ll shank ya nan” is just hilarious to me
Chapter 215-224
* <3 <3 Fuck Kim Dokja <3 <3
* I figured the hair was going to be involved, but not explicitly that
* If Dokja can find a way to with relative consistency summon the soldier, that’s great
* ok asmodeus is the king of the 32nd. ok, not 32 of them
* Dokja normally says no to potentially unfair support like this from constellation level beings, but i’d actually like to see him deal with asmodeus and just manage to manipulate it so that he is the king of all demons or something
* If Dokja gets support from Asmodeus, than the demon will probably leave his incarnation body there and use it as a puppet to pop in when needed even as he attends to matters in his own kingdom most of the time. This’d open the possibility of Dokja getting to adopt another child, which is always good to see
* I’m also real curious how the possibility of the people who were once characters finding out they were, and what differences there will be to the “real” people, although the fact that the two prophets are characters now is intriguing
* So far it’s just Sangah who knows, but I wonder if Heewon and the others will even be allowed to understand the concept, given the ways the filtering has prevented it in the past

TIFF 2018: Day 2
Tumblr media
Films: 4 Best Film of the Day: Shoplifters (pictured)
Shoplifters: Japanese director par excellence Hirokazu Koreeda’s film, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, works in quiet subtle ways, that affect you without you quite knowing why, like watching a strewn pile of dead leaves skitter across an otherwise empty field. It opens with what appears to be a father, Hatsue (Kirin Kiki), and his adolescent son, Shota (Jyo Kairi), as they smoothly stake out and steal from a large grocery in Hokkaido. They work in such harmonic tandem, he blocking the clerk from view at key moments, his son slipping items into his backpack without hesitation, it’s almost like a military exercise. Bringing the booty home to the rest of their family, Shota’s mother, young aunt, and grandmother, Hatsue spies a forlorn young girl (Miyu Sasaki) stuck alone, cold and hungry while her parents are MIA. As if snatching a package of noodles off the shelf, he picks her up and takes her into their ramshackle but loving crew. In Koreeda’s world though, very little is directly as it seems at first. As we get to know these characters in more depth over time, their apparent relationships turn out to be something considerably different, and they become less easy to understand if no less endearing. The film works in small, carefully arranged scenes, which are artfully staged, fitting together like bits of an interlocking puzzle. Every member of this oddly concocted family are one kind of con person or another, whether they utilize hoary magic tricks, shoplifting strategies, or burying bodies under their small apartment.
Kursk: Submarine movies generally have only one direction to go, and that is straight down to the bottom. If the sub isn’t outright sinking, it’s threatening to, which, like your standard romcoms or slasher flick, puts into motion a whole bunch of predictable outcomes, depending on whether the director’s vision calls for dramatic pathos (the crew drowns) or joyful deus ex machina (the crew miraculously escapes). But here, director Thomas Vinterberg is working from a notorious chapter in Soviet naval history: During the latter years of the Cold War, one of their most sophisticated nuclear subs had an accident en route to a training exercise, leaving the majority of souls on board blown apart or drowned, and the survivors in a tight race for survival, only to have the military decide the crew’s fate based on international appearances. Given the nature of the form and the reputation of the incident, Vinterberg had no choice but to dig deeply into the crew members lives in order to connect the audience with these poor, doomed seamen. He gives us enough snippets of the homelife of the men — using the tried and true start-with-a-wedding maneuver — and one in particular, Mikhail (Matthias Schoenaerts), with his pregnant wife (Léa Seydoux), and young son, to invest us. He also utilizes other devices: In a moment of supreme irony, many of the ranking crew were forced to hock their naval watches in order to properly fund the wedding of their good comrade the night before their ill-fated launch, a deal that comes back to haunt them fiercely when things go to hell. The Soviets are shown to be blitheringly incompetent, with a much weakened and neglected military (early in the film, the sailors are denied their monthly wage again, hence the need to hock their timepieces), and the kind of insufferable pride that would allow such a thing to happen, bitterly resentful of any offerings of international aid, but in truth, they react no differently from any other would-be superpower. As much as we may want to be able to dump down on Soviet buffoonery, we have to accept we’d likely meet equal fate under similar circumstances. We’ll have to take cold comfort that the Russians, in drowning far below the surface, make for remarkably similar corpses to our own.
What You Gonna Do When The World’s On Fire? The way Italian director Roberto Minervini works is mysterious unto itself. Deeply embedding into a community – and he’s latched onto the deep rural south in recent films – he creates sort of docu-narratives, setting up scenes with real participants, and to some degree choreographing the action. The effect is like watching a drama of almost pure verité, with just enough elements of staging to meld the two forms together. This film, shot in southern Mississippi and Louisiana loosely connects several different character threads and situations: In one pairing, a couple of brothers, the youngest one healthily scared of a lot of things, try to steer clear of the trouble and violence that plague their streets; in another a regrouped “New Black Panther Party” takes to the streets and tries to effect radical change one protest at a time; a middle-aged woman loses her bar, and tries to go out on a high note; and a Big Chief goes through the laborious effort to put his elegant costume together in time for Mardi Gras. The connection is tenuous – beyond its attention to race and class, and the struggle it is for people to just get by under these murderous conditions – but Minervini’s cinematography (by Diego Romero) is so gorgeous, with its black and white compositions, that it hangs together stylistically in a way that makes the whole thing work. It’s hardly coherent, but as a sizable slice of life document, he captures something of notable significance.
Beautiful Boy: Timothée Chalamet, the young actor who was so beguiling in Call Me By Your Name, seems to have it all: Staggeringly good looks, fantastic acting chops, and a genial likability that translates perfectly to the big screen. In Felix Van Groeningen’s adaptation of the twin memoirs by Dave and Nic Sheff concerning Nic’s struggle with addiction, those qualities are perfectly turned on their head. Nic, too, seems to have everything going for him – loving, though divorced, parents (Steve Carell and Amy Ryan), a beautiful house up in the mountains above San Francisco, and a bevy of talent as both a writer and an artist. But the draw of “chaos” is too strong with him, and he turns to drugs to prop up his sagging self-worth nonetheless. Van Groeningen is hardly a moralist, nor is he any kind of romantic (as those who have watched the powerful but difficult The Broken Circle Breakdown can attest), so the film, which could easily have played like a standard redemption arc, becomes something a good deal more harsh and unfulfilling. If we cling to those narratives for fear of our own children plunging over those particular waterfalls, it’s just as important to understand the true extent of horror such a situation can produce. By the time Dave turns away his son, and gives up any sense of control of being able to keep him alive, we’ve come pretty much to the opposite pole from where he started. The most shocking element of the film isn’t any of the deprivation Nic forces upon himself, it’s the numbing effect he eventually has over his father. The performances are strong across the board, but Chalamet again proves up to the task of taking on remarkably nuanced and difficult characters and bringing them to full life. Because of Van Groeningen’s inherent coolness – the soundtrack, featuring everything from vintage Nirvana, to Sigur Ros, to acid jazz – and emotional distance, it’s nothing cathartic, just realistic – if highly privileged – people suffering continuous trauma.
Tomorrow: After an early interview, I plan to rush over in time to see the Welsh mystery movie Gwen; pop by Donnybrook to see my man Jamie Bell get his head dented in; go to a public screening of David Lowery’s The Old Man & the Gun in what may be Robert Redford’s last role before retirement; and close out the day by (shhhh!) watching a midnight screening of David Gordon Green’s updated Halloween re-conception.
