Making my own post cause I don’t wanna put it in the notes of that gifset I just reblogged but WHY does nobody talk about how fucking MEAN it was of Ed to knock all the books out of Stede’s (Lucius, technically, but still) hands during the learning raid? Like??? I know SOME people wanna erase all his faults and iron out all his kinks and make them all Izzy’s fault and everything but you’d think when it came to their OTHER Blorbo’s feelings getting hurt they’d like? Be more upset about that?

Granted I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else talk about it either so 🤷‍♂️. I have the memory of a person with a bad memory so its entirely possible I’m just forgetting someone’s meta, in which case: I forgor.

Its just. Like it gives very much ‘bully’ to me. I imagine its no coincidence its the same episode where Ed goes on to basically VERBALLY bully Stede too?

I have to wonder if its maybe meant to be an indicator that Ed WAS all in on the ‘murder Stede and steal his identity’ plan? I know some people interpret the end of 1x4 as him lying to appease Izzy (I’m personally 50-50 on that tbh, lying? Nah, appeasing Izzy? Sorta? That’s his little guy! He doesn’t wanna lose his little guy!!) or whatever but he’s not like. Super TRYING to teach Stede piracy? And he’s not particularly nice to him until Stede is life changingly nice to him first?

The way I view Supernatural, with having barely watched into the second season before giving up and then learning more about it against my will via tumblr, is about the ecological balance between the mundane and supernatural in the same way herbivore and carnivore population control required Yellowstone to bring back the wolves so the whole ecosystem didn't turn to shit and die.

But Sam and Dean were an invasive species and every "bigger and badder bad" was just evolution trying to reintroduce wolves to get rid of them only they kept killing their competition, and reviving each other from the dead, leading to larger and larger escalation.
