Okayy we got a Voyager science officer cosplay to make, here(wa)s the plan:
Using an existing pattern I found on etsy, I made adjustments based on vibes reference pictures of Janeway from Night and seeing what other people have made before (shout out to thresholdbb I was Looking at their past cosplays).
Tumblr media
Treksona presentation to illustrate the changes I made~
Tumblr media
Half the battle was decoding what the vintage pattern instructions were trying to tell me 🤡 but eventually with the help of the internet and my mom on call I figured out each step!
Oh and I had to learn how to iron and how the whole dang sewing machine worked, oiling it, threading the bobbin and needle, I even took apart the foot pedal at one point because I thought it wasn't working lol.
The mockups below, I made one out of Swedish tracing paper and the next one out of cotton (curtains I thrifted) after confirming that it would probably fit:
Tumblr media
Turned out pretty good but I decided to move the front seams over just a bit...
Laying out the final pattern:
Tumblr media
Cutting out the final pieces was really exciting it was starting to look like something!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Detail shots below... I didn't feel like I could get the crispness I wanted for the shoulder points with the machine so I did it by hand :')
The shoulder pads were very exciting to put in as well!! I asked the person at JoAnn what the difference was between the two different shoulder pads I had picked up and they said one was more 80s power suit-- that was definitely the one I wanted for this jacket hehe
Tumblr media
The final jacket below with a top I found on ebay (also found boots from there)!!! I ended up putting the sleeves in with a machine and ummm there's some puckering I'm trying not to be annoyed about h a h a. I may go back and fix that eventually I don't know... The invisible zipper I got didn't work either so I need to replace that somehow too hrm.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I thrifted pants because I didn't want to tackle a whole other piece; I just added fabric to the bottom because they were a smidge short and then cut the iconic vent.
Tumblr media
Here's the jacket on me, taken with a weird camera angle so the shoulders are a bit wonky at the edges haha but look!! I lined everything up so well!!
(comm badge and pips from etsy)
Tumblr media
I felt ready to go hop on a ship sign me up for first contact I'm ready 🫡
Awright Lessons I Learned:
sewing projects take much much longer than anticipated (I went to stsf and was sewing licherally the night before and morning of. I know it's the convention experience but I was a tad stressed lol)
hand sewing in particular takes forever but I enjoyed it!
people are right to complain about setting in sleeves what da hell was that
flannel (what I used for the black part because it matched the pants the best) was great to work with
linen (the best teal they had in the store) was not!! doesn't iron well, doesn't sew well I don't want to use it ever again <3
this was my first sewing project Ever and I still was pretty hard on myself e h e..........much to think about...
Final words of wisdom from my mom:
Tumblr media
Back to the Scully blouse soon!! After a little break :) Thanks for reading!

I got that picky eater autism the way I don’t even know what food those things you mentioned are DDDDD: you like them so they must be good asf hehehe cooking for me would be fun bc there’s sm stuff I haven’t tried!! My favorite type of food is Italian probably and (this is so fucking stereotypical of me) I really love burgers and fries and steak😭😭😭😭😭 I’m going to ask the stupidest question okay do you guys have Olive Garden? I’m not asking because I think its peak Italian food rather I’m curious if you guys have it hehehe OMG THE HUMAN MEAT THING HAHWJWJDHD you being unhinged towards me I love it<333 I know you tell me to not hold back but you better not be either okay;) I’m actually really sensitive when it comes to taste like I can tell when things are off so I would know something is off, but I don’t think I would suspect it’s human meat but knowing you maybe I actually would. Your eagerness STOPPPPPP JUST LIKE HANNIBAL and just like Hannibal, you know a lot about human meat cooking AKAKSJDJDJDJ HOW DID YOU LEARN ALL OF THIS? I find it very interesting though, so thank you for sharing hehehe SEE that’s why we love Hannibal and Will they’re fucking insane together<33333333 they’re making me so much worse it’s bad LMFAO I’m so unhinged now kill me before it gets worse
DAMN RIGHT THEY SHOULDNT MESS WITH YOU<3333 PLAYFIGHT WITH ME!!!! I haven’t in so long JUST NO BREAKING MY GLASSES if someone broke my glasses when I play fought with them, I think I’d actually murder them props to you for not doing that ALSO SAME people underestimate my ability as well when it comes to play fighting >:)))))) OH YEAHHHH I kick hard as fuck too hehehe OOOOO you thought about me while reblogging that?????????? AaaaaahHhhHhhajajshdhdh that makes me so !!!!!!!!! I love that you thought about me while reblogging something:] my cute lil vampire<33333 ribs are cool!!! I saw this wild gif the other day of like…the organs expanding in there I was like 👁️ I’m so disconnected from the idea that these organs are in me like the other day I was like (PLS DONT ROAST ME THIS SOUNDS DUMB) “oh my God there’s literally a skeleton inside me right now. What the fuck” I swear I have this realization every couple of months, freak out and then forgot about it until I freak out over it again BAHAHAHAHA it’s such a weird thought to me. Awee nooooo it’s so hot there you must be excited though bc it’ll be colder soon!!! And then you can wear your more elaborate fits:] I think all of yours are cool baby even the more “basic” ones you probably look so good in your oversized band tees<3333
I’m glad you liked it so much;) Of course you do you’re perfect<33333 and all mine<333333333 Look at you being so good for me and knowing you belong to me. That’s better<33333 Damn I should’ve stopped holding back my possessiveness ages ago fuck haha if I knew you liked it like this I would’ve goddamn. You know tonight I was thinking about you again (let’s be real when am I not) and I was thinking about how I want you to ruin me until I can’t think straight. I had my shirt in my mouth and I realized later that I bit hard on it without even realizing hehe there was this big bite mark on the shirt WKQJWJSHDHDHDH like you could see the teeth n everything it was crazy I didn’t realize I was biting that hard oops >.>
Hehe I've got picky eater autism too, but that's why I love cooking so much, I get to decide exactly what is in my food! I'd love to introduce you to new foods! I can make you some delicious Italian gnocchi <3 I loove me a good home-made hamburger too, me and my housemate make the most delicious hamburgers, she gets to put her hands in the ground beef and mix everything together while I tip the ingredients in x) It's not a stupid question! Olive Garden isn't a thing here, but many American fast food chains don't exist here :( (We don't have Wendy's cuz there's one singular restaurant in the country that trademarked the name before Wendy's could xD That restaurant is also a front for a weed shop btw) Hehe I promise I won't hold back either cutie <3 I've always been morbidly curious about cannibalism, but I started researching it in earnest for my Serial Killer Cannibal Frank fic. I've got some graphics saved, but most of my 'knowledge' is just me extrapolating information I know about cooking other meats hehe. Human is very similar to pork in the way that it's prepared and how the fat renders down and such, so all you need is to compare human cuts of meat to where those cuts would exist on a pig and take the fat content and muscle denseness into account :] They're sooooo insane together and I fucking love it, not enough characters get to be insane like that <33
Yesss I wanna playfight with you, see how much strength you've got in that cute little body of yours <3 I won't break your glasses if you don't break mine xD I think about you a lot hehe, whenever I see something that reminds me of you <3 Ohhfuck that gif sounds so cool! Yeah it's kinda insane to think about what's going on inside of you. I got kind of a slap in the face the other day while I was talking to people who stopped taking biology somewhere in high school, cuz they didn't realise there's a different fluid between your cells than blood. They thought your body is just kind of a blood sack, and I don't think I could live with having that little knowledge of what's going on underneath my own skin haha. It's so so soooo hot :(( I'm sweaty and ill every day because of the heat :( Can't wait for it to be winter so I can think about you cuddling me to keep warm-- and another methods to keep warm ;) <3
All yours, baby <3 Just like you're all mine <3 I'd love to ruin you, want you to be delirious, can't think straight, can't even say proper words <33 You're so cute with that bitemark on your shirt <33 If I'd put my fingers in your mouth would you bite down on them like that too? Leave me a nice little mark to run my fingers over and look at? You'd be the cutest all ruined by me like that, with your pretty noises for me and pretty eyes looking up at me, do you think I could make you cry, cutie? I bet you'd look so pretty. I'd wipe away your tears after we're all done and taste them, I want every part of you <3

kayn masterpost
(long post)
hey guys. as you guys are all probably aware, im a bit of a kayn enthusiast and he’s by far my favorite champion in the game. that being said, i play him a lot. i have over 500 games on him, and my ranked winrate hovers between 59-62%, which I know isn’t that great but that’s not the point. ive met a lot of people who are new to the game or new to jungle who have asked for recommendations and i kinda just wanted to give my input on why i play kayn and why he’s a strong pick. im by no means an expert, but I do have plenty of experience with the champion and would love to see more people playing him. if anyone has something they would add or change, feel free to do so; i want this to be as informative as possible for both new and experienced players. so without further ado, let’s get into it. **a lot of this is written with game terms so msg me if there’s something you aren’t sure on**
strengths and weaknesses
jungle is a pretty volatile role right now, with the meta going every which way, so it makes sense that im going to talk about kayn as a solo queue jungler. here’s a few things that kayn offers in solo q, as well as a few of his shortcomings. ill explain a few of these in detail later on, as well as how you can play around them.
pros:
- fast, healthy clear
- insane map scaling with e and q
- inventive gank pathing
- incredibly versatile
- strong mid/late game
- low skill floor with a decently high skill ceiling
- percent max health dmg from rhaast
- mixed damage from shadow assassin
- high mobility
cons:
- laughable early game
- needs items to function
- useless** until form
- cant deal with most meta junglers
- loses most 1v1’s
- no strong crowd control without form
- your team will always pressure you to go rhaast
- big learning curve with gank pathing and positioning
kayn is understandably weaker before his form, which is often one of the reasons he can be frustrating to play in the early game; however, he’s actually quite strong early if used right. kayn is one of the few junglers who can do a full clear and still be full health, considering that you kite and smite effectively. his clear is also extremely fast, giving him more time to be creating pressure on the map. at levels 2-3 specifically, you will usually finish your second camp before your opponent, giving you a few extra seconds to make plays. ganking early as kayn is crucial to doing well, as the sooner you get your form, the better off you’ll be.
because of kayn’s lack of cc and fast clear, a lot of newer kayn players will attempt to power farm and scale; however this is highly ineffective for establishing mid game dominance. as kayn, you should be ganking and skirmishing as often as possible, both to establish dominance and get form points. also, only ganking lanes who give you your desired form points is not that good of a strategy and can result in you losing the early game. regardless of the form you want, you need to be ganking lanes that are either overextended for no reason, or your winning lanes. these ganks are always more successful in the long run, and even if you get the wrong form, the wait usually is irrelevant if you’re winning.
another mistake i see is kayn players underestimating their damage, especially to objectives. at full health, kayn can actually solo drake at level 4 (more safely at level 5) and a lot of kayn players i see dont take advantage of this. if your lanes get early priority and you have it warded, go for the drake after your first back. the enemy team will definitely not expect it and you should be able to do it with no interruptions. additionally, with conqueror, kayn actually outputs a surprising amount of damage in skirmishes. don’t be afraid to make aggressive plays in the early game because of his weaknesses, play him like you would play any other jungler in terms of ganking and objective control.
clear
kayn has a lot of options for how he can do his first clear, and identifying which path you should be using is crucial to succeeding in the early game. The basic 4 paths i would recommend for kayn players are:
- red (leash), raptors, blue side
- red (leash), krugs, enemy gromp
- raptors, red, krugs, scuttle
- enemy wolves, enemy blue, enemy gromp
red (leash) into raptors into blue side:
this path is great if you do not win a lvl 3 fight with the enemy jungler and they start their red. with this route, you and the enemy will end up on opposite sides of the map and from there you can either gank or ward. it’s also the healthiest, although it doesn’t get you to lvl 3 the fastest. i would also recommend this pathing into lvl 2 gank junglers, as you will be by mid around the time they would look to gank, allowing you to countergank if necessary. do not go red into raptors into krugs unless you know you are ganking a side lane and will succeed, otherwise you waste time walking.
red (leash) into krugs (into enemy gromp):
another great route to run if you know the enemy started their red. this is the fastest route to hit level 3 and gank, as you can q over the wall to their blue side to get there faster. this also completely avoids pixel brush wards and is generally not a predictable . it also sets you up to gank a side lane from behind, which is the best way to guarantee success. i would not run this route and invade if you don’t know where the enemy started, as you might waste time walking to something that isn’t there. alternatively, going red, krugs, raptors is somewhat inefficient and can make you waste time walking so be careful running that route.
raptors into red into krugs:
this is one of kayn’s original routes, but I only use it if i am 100% set on ganking/counterganking at level 3 in a side lane. it’s slightly slower than red start routes, simply because you will not be receiving a leash, but works well if you are against a level 3 jungler like hecarim. this is also a decent route if you are unaware of whether you will be vertical jungling, as it allows you to stall for a bit before moving to gank or take blue side. do not run this route if the enemy jungler starts blue side as it leaves you open to invades and counter plays on the opposite side of the map. for example, if you see the enemy jungler goes blue to red, rotate to your blue side to counter their movement instead of full clearing.
enemy wolves into enemy blue/gromp:
debatably kayn’s best invade pathing in terms of vision avoidance and unpredictability, if the enemy jg starts their red, you can invade their wolves and get level 2. it’s about as fast as raptors start, so you don’t lose much time, from there, if you know their blue is warded, you can e to sneak around the ward and take their gromp. if not you can either steal blue or leave. this route does not get you level 3 quickly, but it is a good setup for a gank. you can also run this route if the enemy jungle starts blue, and you can either leave their jungle or attempt to cheese and steal their level 1 buff. be aware of how deep into enemy territory you are though, it’s easy to get collapsed on if you aren’t careful.
*notes*
notice that I haven’t added any allied blue starts which is because of how inefficient the route is for kayn. red side gives you red buff and has 2 aoe camps while blue side only has one, and it also doesn’t even give you lvl 3. plus, blue buff is useless for kayn in fights so it’s just not really that effective. however, if there is no other option, then don’t risk dying and just start blue.
another note for first clear, if the enemy jungler typically cannot clear raptors or krugs before level 3, you should attempt an invade on these camps. best case you get their camp, worst case you put a ward down and leave. it’s an easy way to get a lead over the enemy, as well as some respawn timers for later. this also applies to wolves, if you’re willing to make that commitment to an early invade.
finally, a bit of elaboration on early cheeses. if you know exactly what camp the enemy jungler is on, you can e through the nearby wall and attempt to smite steal the camp and leave. be incredibly careful when doing this, but if you know you will lvl up/deny a level to the enemy jungler, feel free to engage on them afterwards. this takes a bit of game knowledge to do, as well as good timing, but it can be a really strong way to tilt the enemy jungler and get free xp
ganking
kayn has one of the best abilities for initiating ganks in the game, but learning how and when to gank is crucial for coming out on top early. denying and avoiding vision takes time and practice to learn with kayn but by the time you get good at it, they won’t ever see you coming. kayn has 5 options for ganking, all of which have specific strengths and weaknesses that I will elaborate on.
- river gank
- drake/herald pit gank
- enemy jungle wall gank
- lane gank
- **reverse lane gank**
river gank:
this is the standard gank path for most junglers and is usually the one you’ll be running when the enemy team is pushed to your tower. you can either walk through river and save your e, or e through the wall closest to you to get into the lane. this gank pathing is solid, but i wouldn’t recommend it before your first back. the most important thing to getting this gank off is denying vision, so make sure to buy a control ward and scanner on your first back. use the scanner before you walk into the river and any wards there will be disabled, allowing you to gank without being seen (for the most part). also, don’t use this if the lane is towards the middle since you won’t be able to do much and they’ll run away. for mid lane especially, make sure the opposite bush is warded so you don’t get counterganked at the start
drake/baron pit gank:
used for the side lane where drake/baron pit is closest to the enemy. clear wards at drake and use your e to go through that wall and the one by tribush in order to get into the lane. id still recommended using scanner, just in case tri is warded, but this usually puts you at the best angle for ganks. be wary of how close you are to the enemy tower though, because you can easily get hooked/pushed into tower range if they see you coming. this route is only effective on pushed or even lanes, and can be used mid if you simply go the other way. if the enemy laner and your laner are fighting under your tower and the enemy isn’t backing off, do not run this route
enemy jungle wall gank:
used for the side lanes where drake/baron pit is on your side. similar to the drake into tribush gank, you go through the wall behind the enemy and flank from behind. if you go through drake/herald pit to the enemy blue entrance you should avoid river brush wards; however, you should start using scanner the second you get into the pit in the case of deep wards. this gank does work mid, but you run the risk of taking turret shots if you aren’t careful. if the enemy laner and your laner are fighting under your tower and the enemy isn’t backing off, do not run this route.
lane gank:
mostly used in side lanes where your team is about to engage or already has. this pathing is most effective if you have someone with a hook/pull/root like thresh or darius since you won’t be flanking from behind. this gank is effective regardless of where the wave is, but takes a bit of practice to do well. it also works best with shadow assassin because sa gives the enemies less time to react due to how fast he is. this gank is an effective way to countergank, but also allows you to back out easily if you get counterganked. for mid you kinda just run it down and help your laner, not much to say there.
**reverse lane gank**:
by far the worst gank option that could ever come out of league of legends. it hovers between stupid and broken, so use it accordingly. basically you gank from behind the enemy t1 turret and e through the wall into the lane. this only works on side lanes and honestly shouldn’t even be used then. buy a scanner and time the upcoming minion waves if you’re going to do this. i hate it.
*notes*
if you are counterganking a lane, don’t bother with fancy theatrics, just use the route that will get you to the action the fastest. for example, don’t drake/herald pit gank if the enemy team is under your tower, you’ll spend too much time walking.
also, scanner is absolutely necessary to flanking from behind and should be purchased early in the game. tell your team to get controls too.
shadow assassin vs. rhaast
this is really the last thing I’ll be talking about since micro and itemization is a bit niche and it’s not really worth mentioning, so just look up matchups and whatnot. im not really going to be giving you the strengths and weaknesses of each, but rather how each is played because it’s pretty obvious what each brings to the team.
shadow assassin:
sa is more of my main than rhaast is, meaning i can give you guys a few more tips here than there. you should run shadow assassin in 3 general situations
- your team has tank shred/ a bruiser
- your team has no ap
- the enemy team’s carries are squishy
obviously there are exceptions such as a full tank enemy team or your team having no tank and needing one, but those are the general situations. often, your team will give you reasons to run rhaast instead, but these are NOT reasons why you should.
- “rhaast is more meta”
- “we have no cc”
- “they have too much peel”
rhaast is the better pick in terms of utility but that does not mean he is more meta. additionally, if your team has survived without cc they can likely continue to do so (death is the greatest form of cc). finally, a good shadow assassin player will have absolutely no regard for enemy peel if they position and engage correctly; people slip up all the time and you are there to capitalize on that.
shadow assassin is far more versatile than rhaast is, and is less limited to landing his cc and staying alive. that being said, sa has a far higher skill cap than rhaast does and should be played accordingly. sa is best used like any other assassin, weaving in and out of teamfights and making picks; however, sa also has incredibly short cool downs, unlike most assassins. you should constantly be using your w and e to poke and scout around before a fight, just make sure not to die while doing so.
if you have blue buff, e all over the place and be annoying as hell. you’ll usually pose enough of a threat to get them to back off/ reposition so use that to your advantage. honestly there isn’t much i can tell you about teamfighting with him because you kinda have to learn that stuff yourself.
when ganking as sa, you can pretty much run any route effectively, but flanking from behind is always preferable.
personally, if you want to climb, shadow assassin is just so much better at solo carrying than rhaast is but im pretty biased so. if you’re trying to close out a game early, always go shadow assassin. that’s about it.
rhaast:
if for some reason you feel morally obligated to go rhaast, only do it when you absolutely cannot go shadow assassin. if your team has absolutely no cc, go rhaast. that’s honestly about it. it does come down to personal preference mostly, so if you do enjoy rhaast more don’t listen to me and play rhaast. anyways, rhaast can act both as a frontline and as a backline diver, so play accordingly to what your team needs. your job in fights is to just q w q w q w and survive. you’re only really useful bc of the tank shred and knockup so don’t hesitate to let your team handle the dps. as rhaast, it can be easy to overestimate your damage and healing, so only go into fights you know you can win. think of rhaast more like base kayn with cc rather than having a different playstyle.
more importantly, you are not an assassin so don’t play like one. rhaast is easily kited and his abilities are easy to avoid, so don’t dive the backline for kills if you are alone. if you do have to dive the backline, your job is to keep them cc’d and out of the fight for as long as possible so your team can clean them up at the end. if you’re playing frontline, peel for your backline and hit as many people with your abilities as possible. you heal for a pretty substantial amount of damage so don’t be afraid to tank major enemy abilities for your team. if you think you’re going to have to do all of the damage in fights late game, reconsider choosing rhaast.
finally when ganking with rhaast, always flank from the sides of behind and wait until all enemy mobility is blown to w if possible. you really rely on your w to pull off successful ganks as rhaast, so play accordingly and don’t blow it for no reason.
—-
well guys, that’s about all. sorry for the long post, but i just wanted to get a little bit of knowledge about kayn down on paper, as it might help a lot of people looking to learn him. tl;dr, kayn is a strong pick with a lot of room to improvise and adapt to your opponent. he’s a pretty forgiving jungle champion, making him a decent pick to learn the role with. as i said earlier, if you guys think anything here should be changed or elaborated on, just reply or dm me directly. good hunting!

KH TerraVan Tribal AU
Always Updating/WIP
Notes:
Note, this AU was inspired by superfluous-Vanitas tribal AU art. Note i have added my own plot line, ideas, and different creatures that hail from the games The Isle and Ark: Survival Evolved. Thus, the creatures/mounts that that characters have in this AU are NOT to be changed unless its been stated in the canon AU story line.
Notes 2:
If you wish to use this AU please be sure to give me credit for it! And if you have questions, please feel free to pm and ask me! Or comment below and I’ll answer as soon as i can.
Notes 3:
Note, this is a TerraVan ship AU thus this ship is NOT TO BE CHANGED. Another ship that is not to be changed is IsaLea! These ships are set in stone! Other ships are free to be added!
Notes 4:
Any and all other characters that are mentioned will be in different tribes depending on the story line! If you dont see a character name on any of the lists below, assume they currently do not play a super important role!
Notes 5:
Note creatures that are listed as a character Mount i will not be adding photos of for as there are quite a few! Please feel free to look them up as most of them come from the Game Ark: Survival Evolved.
Notes 6:
Note, Adding ocs is fine, however please do not ship them with characters who are already a canon ship for this AU!
Note 7:
Note, information here can be found on the Kingdom Hearts Rp amino and the Kingdom Hearts amino as well, i go by Prince Vanitas in the Kingdom Hearts rp amino and Rox on the Kingdom Hearts aminos.
AU Information:
°This AU takes place during a time where Dinosaurs and people lived at the same time. Though this doesn’t mean there isn’t modern day technology when it comes to the scientific aspect. Meaning the ability to genetically modify dinosaurs is possible. However it’s only possible if the tribe has the means and knowledge. This takes the ideas of taming dinosaurs from the game known as Ark: Survival Evolved and some ideas, creatures and things of the like from the horror survival game The Isle. I do not take credit for the creatures from either of these games or the Kingdom Hearts series. This AU was inspired by someones art of a tribe AU for the TerraVan ship you can find them on Tumblr as superfluous-Vaniats so go check them out, give em some love!
World Information:
Based on the Idea that Dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time, this tribe AU revolves around Vanitas, the adopted child to the Seeker’s Tribe leader Xehanort, and his Mount a odd looking ( Hyperendocrin) T-Rex who goes by the name of Hypo. In an effort to cease a constant tribe war between the Guardians Tribe ran by Tribe leader Eraqus, the two have decided on an arranged marriage between Vanitas and Eraqus’ own child; Terra. Though, while Vanitas seems to easily go along with the plan, Terra doesn’t. As the weeks go by, Terra and Vanitas learn more about each other and about the past Vanitas can’t seem to remember about himself.
Tribes:
Seekers Tribe:
A tribe that specializes in Predator taming. This by far one of the larger Tribes that can be found in the area, and a Tribe who’s leader leads with a firm, iron fist. Their skills in taming predator type creatures makes them a force to be reckoned with. The people from this tribe are seen as cynical, cunning, cold and distant. They take habbitance in the wide open plains of the land, and a medium sized portion of the dense forests by the plains. Though there seems to be something more…sinister with it’s tribe leader then what meets the eye.
Seekers Tribe Notable Members:
Xehanort:
A mysterious old man who seems to always know more then what he lets on. The tribe leader who rules with an iron fist. With golden eyes he watches over his tried silently all while training his somewhat rebellious adopted child. Though he is anything but a loving man, strict and off cold, he is not a tribe leader to be messed with.
Vanitas:
Child to the Seekers Tribe leader, local and resident trouble maker, owner of a powerful mount; Vanitas is the next in line to rule the Seekers Tribe. Taken in at a young age after he and his strange T-Rex (who was a just a young as Vanitas was at the time) starving and wounded by none other then Xehanort himself. Seeming to be a sort of ‘freak’ among his own tribe members, Vanitas is often found out in the dense woods alone or out in the grassy plains of his tribe’s territory with his T-Rex Mount; Hypo. He is to be wed to the son of another tribe’s leader to merge the two together and end a constant war they seem to be at.
Isa:
Resident voice of reason to both Vanitas and Lea, and seeming to be one of only two people in the entire tribe who sees Vanitas as a friend. Head of the Allosaurus hunting party, he keeps a cool head and logical thinking to almost everything he does. He may seem distant and cold, but once one gets past that hard exterior he’s kind and gives sound advice to any who seek nothing but honest answers and opinions.
Lea:
Second in command of the Allosaurus hunting party; Lea is all spitfire personality and a unpredictable person over all. He happens to also be Isa’s significant other making their Mounts the Alpha pair that run the pack. He also is Vanitas’ best friend and usually the one who is ride or die with him. Despite this, Lea is cynical and can flip on a dime when a job needs to be done. This makes him a valuable asset to the hunting party. He is also Vanitas’ constant support as well as being more then ready to defend him should anyone try to pick a fight with him.
Luxlord:
Third in command of the hunting party, usually the last person to take charge. This isn’t due to him being incapable, but merely because it’s rare for both Lea and Isa to not be available. A gambler and always willing to take risks he usually is the one who leads the more risky missions but we his history of good luck he’s managed to always come back alive and the hunting party unscracthed. Laid back, but a bit cocky he and Vanitas have a bit of a complicated like and hate relationship. As Luxlord is okay with supporting him, but rather put the good of the tribe before him in a heart beat.
Guardians Tribe:
A tribe that specializes in Herbivore taming type creatures. This is typically a peace loving tribe, though it’s leader is always prepared for a war, he never goes looking for it. As a decent of the first settlers of the land, this Tribe’s leader is a kind hearted man with a wisdom that leaves anyone who seeks advice from him stunned. His tribe takes up the cliff sides, some plains and a small portion of dense forest. Not a extremely large Tribe, but one that is constantly having issues with the Seekers Tribe.
Guardians Tribe Notable Members:
Eraqus:
One of the kindest Tribe members, a once old friend to Xehanort and a man with wanting the best for his tribe. Wise, calm and understanding to a point, Eraqus is loved by his tribe and is respected by many others who have encountered him. Despite having been a friend to Xehanort back in their youth; something drove them apart and now both their Tribes are always at each other’s throats.
Terra:
The Protector, Son to Tribe Leader Eraqus himself, and one of few Tribe’s people who has a predator type mount; a T-Rex by the name of Ash. Clam, cool and collected Terra is a man of few words and the future tribe leader. Physically Strong and strong willed; Terra is never one to give up easily or underestimate opponents of any kind. He is to be wed to the son of another tribe to cease a decade long war and is not pleased about it.
Aqua:
Resident Healer and student to Tribe Leader Eraqus, she is loving as she is honest. With her Shantungosaurus Mount named; Eva, they are a duo that is rarely seen far away from the Home as she tends to sick and injured. She is also originally from another tribe who was wiped out by the Seekers tribe, thus her hatred for them runs deep. Her years friendship with Terra allows her to understand his displeasure with the arranged marriage, she can often he found with him and their third friend.
Ventus:
The youngest of the Trio, Ventus is a young boy with a uncanny ability to quickly tame most herbivore type dinos. He is also one of a few small handful of tribe members who have a Predator type mount. With his Ceratosaurus named Avea the two make a perfect team when it comes to River fishing. Though despite this, Ventus is a bit shy and prefers to stay at home or stick close to Terra and Aqua. Like Aqua, Ventus once originally came from a different tribe. What tribe he came from however is unknown as he himself doesn’t recall.
Roxas:
Twin brother to Ventus, sometimes harsh and sassy, Roxas is usually always off with the Tides Tribe hanging out with Sora and his two friends. Though when he is not with them, he’s with the hunting part of his Tribe, as an elite member of the Hunting party, Roxas has a Utahraptor mount named Oblivion. Together they make a deadly team, often hitting their pray when it’s unexpected.
Tides Tribe:
One of the kindest Tribes in the Land, this tribe dwells and lives along a large part of coast line and distant islands off thr main land. A peace loving tribe and oddly enough one that has rarely been attacked, this seems to be due to the many trade deals that this tribe has to other larger Tribes. However, this doesn’t make them a target. This tribe specializes in water based creatures due to their constant travels between the main land and tiny off set islands. However, it seems this tribe had and still has issues with children of the tribe being kidnapped or going missing.
Tides Tribe Notable Members:
Mickey:
A young man who rules a tribe that dwells and rules over the Tides tribe. Kind, laid back and caring he can always he found helping the members of his tribe be it with simple tasks or heavy duty tasks such as hulling in fish nets or building new homes. He is a rather new Tribe leader having been a tribe leader for only about four years, making him one of the youngest Tribe Leaders around.
Sora:
A happy go lucky boy with a sun bright smile and a even brighter personality. Always smiling, kind to everyone and willing to see the good in anyone he meets, Sora is one of a kind and never fails to put a smile on anyone’s face. With his Kaprosuchus Mount named Riptide, it’s not strange to see Sora often fishing while on the back of this creature or he could he found enjoying a sunny day with his two best friends. It’s also said he once had a twin, though all he remembers is the one night he was hidden by his older twin while their villa was raided by another tribe. What became of his twin he doesn’t know, but seems to feel at blame for his disappearance.
Riku:
Adopted child to Mickey, future Tribe leader and a boy who comes off as the residents cool kid. However, considering he is best friends with Sora, it’s suspected he’s just as kind as he is. However, to those he doesn’t know, Riku is distant, cold and can come off as a bit of a jerk. Unlike his friend who has a semi- aquatic or completely aquatic like creature, Riku has a Megalosaurus as a mount named Dawn. He can be found during the day hanging out with his friends while at night he’s off with a night but I party group.
Kairi:
A girl who originally came from a completely different tribe at the age of four, she now lives with the Tides Tribe and seems to love her new home there. She is the third and final best friend to Sora and Riku, she can often be found with the two, watching over their daily shenanigans or scolding them for whenever they do anything that gets them into trouble. Unlike her friends, Kairi has two small “Mounts” the first one being a Shinehorn named starlight, and the other a small Featherlight named Sparks.
Demyx:
Local musician, a laid back guy and generally very easy to get along with. He seems to get along with a lot of kids as he helps the mothers of the tribe keep an eye on the younger kids. He’s often found at the harbor playing his guitar like instrument while chilling on the back of his Aquatic mount, a Liopleurodon by the name of Storm. He often times plays music during the Tribe dinners or for the birthdays of Sore, Riku and Kairi, making him someone the teens and young kids go to go have fun or relax.
Deep Land Tribe:
A mysterious Tribe that keeps to itself, not much is known about this tribe but it’s suspected there is more to them then what meets the eye. What is known that this was the Tribe Xehanort originally came from before braking off and starting his own tribe. Though the man has never spoken a thing about them.
Deep Land Tribe Notable Members:
Xigbar:
A mysterious, one eyed man with scars that litter his face. Cocky, and giving off a dark vibe; this man is not the actual leader of the Tribe but is currently acting as tribe Leader. Where the actual tribe leader went, is unknown. However, it is known that the scars on his face and the missing eye are a result of an unsuccessful attack he lead on the Guardians Tribe, the one who caused tue injuries was Terra himself. His Mount is known at the current time.
Larxene:
A young woman with a sharp tongue, and even sharper knives. Her aggressive personality makes her perfect for being the second in command of her tribe’s hunting party. She’s ruthless, harsh, and hates most if not all children, this includes children of her tribe. Thus this leads to her usually leaving them for dead should they mess up or join the hunting party, leaving them on their own without help. Her mount is currently unknown
Marluxia:
leader of the Hunting party, he is as handsome as he is cynical. His joy for playing mind games, or toying with his pray makes him a deadly opponent. Despite this, unlike his second in command he can be a man of logic as well, he’s not afraid to question the motives of his own tribe and seems to have bigger plans for himself and anyone else who joins him I whatever plans he has in store. His Mount is currently unknown.
Even:
Scientist, cynical, mad even. Even is what many would see as the book definition of a mad scientist, though he would say otherwise. Despite this, no one dares argue the fact that he is indeed intelligent. This has lead to his tribe being the most advanced Tribe on the main land when it comes to Generic Modification in dinosaurs. Though, while others see his practices and experiments unethical and cruel, he doesn’t think so. His Mount is also currently unknown.
Xion:
A young, troubled young lady who seems to be miserable in her tribe. She is part of the hunting party, but despite her clear displeasure in being part of her tribe, it is unknown as to why she doesn’t leave. She’s skilled when it comes to tracking and setting up traps, making her a valuable asset to the Tribe. Her mount is currently Unknown.
Naminé:
another young lady who doesn’t seem content with her tribe. What her role is and what she does is completely unknown she has only been seen once and that was by Vanitas. Before he could even ask who she was and if she needed help, she managed to turn tail and run, loosing him in the dense forest.

Passion is overrated 7 habits that you need instead
Image: Shutterstock / ChingChing
Its common wisdom. Near gospel really, and not just among young people and founders. Across generational lines, sentiments like those from Steve Jobs 2005 commencement at Stanford have been engraved into our collective consciousness:
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.
In other words, follow your passion. Theres just one problem: Follow your passion is dangerous advice.
Thats a troubling claim, but it comes straight from Cal Newports investigation into the details of how passionate people like Steve Jobs really got started as well as what scientists say predicts happiness and fuels great accomplishment.
Newports not alone. In recent years, a host of leaders, academics, and entrepreneurs have all come to the same startling conclusion: nearly everything youve been told about following your passion is wrong.
Here are seven habits you need instead.
1. Not passion, purpose
Ryan Holiday, author of Ego Is the Enemy:
Your passion may be the very thing holding you back from power or influence or accomplishment. Because just as often, we fail with no, because of passion. [P]urpose deemphasizes the I. Purpose is about pursuing something outside yourself as opposed to pleasuring yourself.
Until about a century ago, passion was a dirty word. Classical philosopher like Socrates and Marcus Aurelius saw passion as a liability not an asset: an insatiable and destructive force. Why?
Chiefly because passion is dangerously self-centered. In fact, our own modern descriptions of passion betray this inward bend: I want to [blank]. I need to [blank]. I have to [blank]. In most cases, whatever word finishes those sentences regardless of how well meaning it might be is overshadowed by the first.
Purpose, on the other hand, is about them, not me. It reorients our focus onto the people and causes were trying to reach, serve, help, and love. In The Happiness Hypothesis, psychologist Jonathan Haidt describes this pursuit as a striving to get the right relationships between yourself and others, between yourself and your work, and between yourself and something larger than yourself. If you get these relationships right, a sense of purpose and meaning will emerge.
Passion makes us bigger. Purpose connects us to something bigger and in doing so makes us right sized.
2. Not passion, picking
Shaa Wasmund, author of Stop Talking, Start Doing:
No is a far more powerful word than Yes. Every Yes said out of obligation or fear takes time away from the things and people we love. When an opportunity appears connected with your passion, its even trickier. Instead of snatching up everything that might get your closer to the life you want, give yourself the space to pick carefully.
Good is the enemy of great. Thats how Jim Collins put it anyway. Learning to say No is easily one of the most vital skills we can cultivate. And yet, even if youve mastered No to the obvious stuff, passion rears its head.
The blinding effect of passion leads us unthinkingly into projects and meetings that, in truth, are dead ends. Worse, they sap time and energy that would otherwise move us forward. When Tim Ferriss asked journalist Kara Swisher what message shed put on a billboard for millions to see, her answer was a single word, Stop.
And thats what picking is all about: slow down, pause, evaluate, weigh, and only then make a clear-headed choice. Picking involves, first, putting a time buffer on our decisions, particularly decisions that appear connected with your passion. Second, running our choices by an objective third party: a friend or colleague who can call out our blind spots.
Sleep on it. Reach out. The sun will rise tomorrow. And be ruthless with your Nos.
3. Not passion, practice
Angela Duckworth, author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance:
After youve discovered and developed interest in a particular area, you must devote yourself to the sort of focused, full-hearted, challenge-exceeding-skill practice that leads to mastery. You must zero in on your weaknesses, and you must do so over and over again, for hours a day, week after month after year.
We all love shortcuts. The allure of getting more by doing less is seductive. But are there times when doing more equals more? Absolutely.
The classic illustration comes from David Bayles and Ted Orlands Art and Fear where a ceramics teacher divided his class into two groups. The first was told theyd be graded on quality. The other, quantity. To get an A, the quantity group was required to produce fifty pounds of clay pots. Not exactly an artistically inspired assignment. And yet, when grading time came, a curious fact emerged: the works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity.
What accounted for this reversal of expectations?
Easy: while the quality group held back laboring under perfectionism the quantity group got busy. They practiced. And thats good news. If greatness came down to passion or worse, talent then itd be reserved for only a select few. Practice means greatness is doable one tiny step after another.
4. Not passion, planning
Liran Kotzer, CEO of Woo.io:
Passion is indeed very important, but what most people don’t know is whats needed to achieve their true potential. Whether its to acquire new skills, get a promotion, or achieve what they want, it all starts with having a plan based on real data and real-world options.
The only word less sexy than practice is planning. And yet planning is a golden thread woven through the lives of artists, leaders, and entrepreneurs alike. The trick here is that plans need not be grandiose. Rather, they shouldnt be.
Optimism is wonderful when it comes to our dreams. However, when it comes to whats next the nitty-gritty actions thatll get us there optimism kills. Infected with passion, our plans lose touch with reality. We overestimate strengths and underestimate challenges. Beyond the real data and real-world options, we build castles in the sky. Thats one of the reasons platform like Woo, which lets you get feedback from companies and headhunters anonymously, are so valuable.
Where passion disconnects us from reality, planning especially planning of the SMART goal and number-crunching variety drives home the true state of affairs.
That true state rescues us from false expectations, show stoppers, and resentment. As a good friend of mine likes to say, The question when youre trying to bring a dream into reality shouldnt be, What going to go right? It should be, Whats going to go wrong?
5. Not passion, positioning
Jason Stone, founder of Millionaire Mentor Inc.:
Passion can only take you so far. After that, if you don’t have the skills, the tools, the resources, the knowledge, and the track-record to move forward, take risks, and expand. Otherwise, you wont be able to position yourself as an authority. Positioning is key to make sure you are ready when opportunity strikes!
Humans are associative creatures. We think and act not in isolation but by comparing and contrasting.
The basic approach of positioning, wrote Al Ries and Jack Trout in Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind, is not to create something new and different, but to manipulate whats already up there in the mind, to retie the connections that already exist. This is especially true when it comes to how other people see us.
Passionate people often come off as self-inflated. Theyre legends in their own minds. Positioning means leveraging who you are and what youve done as a springboard to whats next. It embraces the associate nature of other people and while it still leaves room for confidence acknowledges that how others perceive us is more real, at least to them, than how we see ourselves.
6. Not passion, peripheral
Troy Osinoff, author of My Bad Parent: Do As I Say, Not as I Did:
People that think they completely understand their world are the most susceptible to overlook new opportunities. Peripheral is about establishing an unwavering curiosity to use your existing knowledge in uncovering new patterns and trends both for the sake of your personal development as well as the success of your business or career.
Passion makes us myopic. We become so focused on the desire inside us, we lose sight of whats around us. Objectivity the ability to see the world as it truly is atrophies in the blinding light of passion.
Adopting a peripheral perspective forces us to examine the margins. It widens our view. Rather than rush headlong into disaster, were able to spot not just the pitfalls but the opportunities we would have otherwise missed.
How? By cultivating curiosity. Questions like, What am I missing? What am I ignoring? Who could give me a fresh take? are vital in every area of life. Likewise, so is putting ourselves in new situations, reading books outside our passions, and intentionally pursuing people who have nothing to do with what it is we think we want.
7. Not passion, perseverance
Brian D. Evans, founder of Influencive and Inc. 500 Entrepreneur:
The person who calls themselves a student is more a master than those who try to wear the title. Get up when you get knocked down. Come back stronger, faster, and (above all) smarter. The constant desire to learn and overcome has helped me achieve everything. You must persevere.
Although it might sound odd, perseverance is as much about putting in effort as it is battling ego. Drunk on passion, masters are doomed to repeat failures in the name of pushing through. In contrast, students do more than hone their craft; they learn from their mistakes.
Asked if the Patriots historic comeback in Super Bowl LI was his greatest game ever, Tom Brady replied: [W]hen I think of an interception return for a touchdown, some other missed opportunities in the first 37, 38 minutes of the game, I dont really consider playing a good quarter-and-a-half, plus overtime as one of the best games ever but it was certainly one of the most thrilling.
Certainly Brandy persevered, and itd be nice if that guaranteed success. But sometimes you wont come back to win it. At least, not in the moment. Jobs will be lost. Pitches turned down. Relationships ended. And reviews harsh.
Failure, however, isnt just an inevitable stepping stone toward success. Rejection is part of success itself. As Louis CK put it to a budding comedian, The only road to good shows is bad ones. Just go start having a bad time and, if you dont give up, you will get better.
Is passion a bad thing?
Understood rightly, no. But as the be-all-and-end-all? Yes.
Cal Newports prescription was skill: passion is the result of excellence, not its source.
Far from a magic bullet, passion can mislead us, blind us, and even turn us in on ourselves. Newport was right: Follow your passion might just be terrible advice. Thankfully, these seven habits put passion in its place so that the fire Jobs spoke of doesnt burn out but endures.
