insane to me that we introduced autumn olive to be decorative and now they're fucking everywhere and choking out native ecosystems and people don't even know you can eat them

shoutout to my dad because he has to lose like 20 pounds for a surgery at the end of july and to accomplish this he made me go on a walk around our block with him twice (~15 cals burned) and then came inside and to refresh himself had a large glass of whole milk

#and then i mowed the lawn because he stopped doing it ages ago and he sat and played video games #and told me I should make him green tea because it helps with weight loss #it’s like dude the thing about green tea that helps with weight loss is drinking green tea instead of eating food #and/or drinking whole milk #if you’re just drinking green tea on top of your previous diet it doesn’t do anything more #honestly if he just stopped eating dessert; Fritos after dinner; and drinking milk I think he’d be in a much better place #regardless he is unlikely to lose 20 pounds in like four weeks #this same thing annoys me with my mother too. she exercises all the time #and she’s always moving #but just losing weight by eating less would be so much easier on her mobility and comfort

To my neighbors who put out hummingbird feeders yet trap and relocate or even possibly kill squirrels, chipmunks and wild rabbits:

I love to break it to you, so basically you're doing everything wrong and I hate you. Those guys mow your lawn and poop and fertilize everything around them. Rabbit poop is said to be an excellent fertilizer. Without those creatures you deem nuisances, your gardens won't do as well and neither will your flowers. If your gardens and flowers aren't diverse and fertilized, you're not going to get hummingbirds en masse. You're the reason why we have such a lack of biodiversity in our neighborhood. If you're unhappy that all we have is grackles and blackbirds and sparrows then look at yourself and you'll find the problem very quickly. There's nothing wrong with those guys, but if you want more variety you need to provide variety to sustain them. You need multiple being on every level to support an ecosystem where they can find what they need to thrive.

Well, my Chinese Broccoli plants that I had growing in the two pots beside this one flowered & died awhile back. I assume their seed went into this container & now I have 2 more plants! 😆
