Hi TT, hope you are doing well. Similar to that IB question, if you had to pick 5 fav scenes from KHKT, Sanjivani, and EBSS, what would they be? Have a great weekend!
Oh man, took me a while and some perusing of lbs and archives.....
KHKT
Obviously the iconic episode 3 reaction of Rohit to watching Sona’s show the first time.
This one.
The scene where Sonakshi’s taken into questioning about Mhatre and Rohit and her meet during that short interval.
Rohit and Sonakshi hiding in the bathroom and overhearing those aunties gossip about them.
Rohit’s love confession.
Sanjivani
This one.
This one.
This one.
(+ 5 + 6 + .....) These.
EBSS
Literally any time Janhvi recites a doha by Sant Kabir.
The ‘Lag Jaa Gale’ dance between Kabir/Kavya, just before he has to leave to go “surrender” or whatever.
This one.
These glimpses that lasted like a second and half; that all together may count as one scene.
Ranjeet’s 80s and 90s pulp movie references (Gunahon Ka Devta, Paap Ki Aandhi, etc.)

I’m starting EBSS and first things first: why is this only a bhabhi/bhaiyya pairing?? I feel cheated, Shrenu and Zain would’ve had so much romantic chemistry ffs!

Merry Christmas TT. This has been in my mind for a few days. What is your opinion about audience liking Jennifer's Maya, but loathing Shrenu's Jahnvi/ Pooja? My opinion on the liking part is based on beyhad having a second season.
Merry Christmas, anon! 🎄🎄🎄
I think it largely has to do with the conceputalization/writing of the shows. Beyhadh is a more ~modern~ show, whereas EBSS was within a more traditional joint family setting. Shaadi and the exalted position of badi bahu are seen as sacred, and for that to be sullied so? Not acceptable.
I also think Maya was accepted more than Janhvi/Pooja coz her actions could clearly be written off as a result of her established mental imbalance - I haven’t watched either iteration of Beyhadh, but I know that the character is written/promoted from the very start as someone who should be feared because of her unhinged, obsessive nature that shocks; Pooja on the other hand operated in a very planned and calculated manner as opposed to the anarchic way Maya works. Pooja was also maybe seen as a greater evil for targeting a *gasp* family *gasp* indiscriminately from the elders to the kids, because she was not portrayed as someone whose lost a grip on reality/society’s norms of behaviour (even though a discerning viewer/human being with empathy could tell for sure that she had her share of mental issues and trauma.) Pooja also had two opposing personalities to constantly play - the Good Bahu v/s the revengeful angry daughter who is also kind at heart and cares about the marginalized, which was probably difficult for the TRP audience to compartmentalize and discern between.
Overall, it’s the ecosystem of the show(s). Bad bahus are never accepted, because shaadi and sasuraal must be respected no matter what. Also, Maya is just an easier character to understand coz she’s less faceted/complex as a character than Pooja (as far as their mental states and motivations are concerned.)
