Alright so I've read a few fics about Luffy being one of big moms kids and it gave me an idea.

Charlotte d. Luffy

He'll still be Dragons kid, in return for having a kid with linlin the revolutionary army got to freely go across her territory, Dragon feels terrible about this (foreshadowing).

Anyway growing up Luffy was loud but he wasn't talkative, you could rarely get a word out of him but you knew when he was around because he was never quiet, unless you pointed it out, then he shut up.

Because Luffy didn't grow up first with a bar maid 12 years older then him then in a forest, he got a proper education, he still spent a lot of time in a forest though.

This is how he meets Dragon who gains Luffy's trust through chess. Over time Dragon gets Luffy to question how Totto land is run.

By the time Luffy is 10 he agrees to go with Dragon.

Since Luffy isn't with Ace and Sabo, Ace leaves with Sabo and also nearly dies. So when they're 13 and Luffy is 10 they meet and kick it off.

They're the only other people besides Dragon that can Luffy to talk more than a few more minutes.

This is how the ASL will live on.

Back a Totto land big mom is rampaging over losing her member of the D clan, Katakuri is worried about his little brother and Perospero isn't showing it but he's worried too.

Shanks meets Luffy randomly and for some reason Luffy still gets the Nika fruit and the strawhat.

Fast forward 7 years Luffy is in the east blue for revolutionary army stuff and meets his future crew including Coby because I said so. With that the Strawhats form.

Now whole cake island arc, this is when they Charlotte's suspicion about Luffy are confirmed, Katakuri and Luffy still fight but by the end of it Katakuri is hella proud of his little brother.

Oh and big moms pissed, and Lola had a fucking heart attack when she saw Luffy again.

I love that there are some characters that have such a strong personality and background in their source content that every fic author writes them the same way.

-Like how Toji is always a horny, dominant asshole who always says pet names like "doll." He's also usually written as a dad who cares but is generally bad at fatherhood. I will say that it's pretty 50/50 tho as far as him being super loyal or super adulterous.

-Or how Katakuri is always written as a stoic man who only cares about work and is exclusively loyal to his family (big mom especially). So many of the fics I've read involve arranged marriages that both parties are opposed to and the couple struggles to get along, but eventually Katakuri starts to warm up and usually the pivotal moment in the relationship involves his scarf. There's also frequently a point in the fics, after the couple starts getting along and falling in love, that big mom tries to ruin everything and Katakuri has to choose between his wife and his mom, and it's a major deal for him to disobey linlin but that signifies his final piece of character development.

-Fics with Trafalgar Law are usually pretty angsty and involve Law spending a ton of fucking time studying in his office (falling asleep at his desk is in almost every single fic), not wanting to get into a relationship (or at least making sure that the rest of the crew doesn't know about it), lashing out and lying instead of actually admitting to his feelings (mainly being vulnerable - which are usually him being in love or him being terrified of losing the one he loves), and pushing his lover away until he has to actually admit his feelings to himself and the lover. Oftentimes he has to admit his feelings after having to save his lover or after the lover gives him an ultimatum and threatens to leave the crew.

Will the Charlotte siblings ever learn about Ringo mom Yinyin?

I did contemplate about this because there wasn’t really something I can insert into the plotline, but if I did, then one way it could have gone would be like this-

Years and years into the future, perhaps during the era where a certain boy in a straw hat sets sail from his home island to adventure in the grandline, or even perhaps after the boy and his crew wrecked their way through Tottoland after saving their crewmate:

Katakuri would find himself needing to take a deep breath away from it all, away from the wreckage and rebuilding of Tottoland. Mama is still recovering, and the rest of the family is waiting for her to wake before they storm Wano. And Katakuri finds his elder sibling (cousin, really, but none of them intends to change their title for Ringo despite the truth) secretly preparing a small ship on a remote coast away from Whole Cake Island. Bundles of flowers, little packages of sweets and the like.

He doesn’t need to ask, because they’re all used to Ringo drifting in and out of their lives. Mama has banned him from staying in Tottoland after all, and this time is no different. But then Ringo takes one look at him and offers him to tag along, just a short trip to a island a week or two away. It’s a small unremarkable island with only a tiny town, surrounded by many sandbanks and changing tides.

Katakuri would decline at first, but then Daifuku and Brulee and the rest of his siblings would push him to go (“we can handle things here just go take a short vacation before you collapse on your feet you idiot”). Perospero just wacks him and tells them to get the fuck out already, he has already made up an excuse to Mama for him. So Katakuri goes, his first trip with Ringo alone that isn’t meant for a mission for… over a decade? It’s a nice change of pace, and he’s got two weeks before he has to head back.

And so on that island, Katakuri would accompany Ringo and learns about the unmarked grave resting along the sandbanks. He would watch Ringo scatter flowers and watch the packages of sweets sink under the waves. He finds out that Ringo comes back to this island once every few years. And he would listen, quietly, as he learns about what’s left of the memory of Charlotte Yinyin.
