i love language and i love this term so much
the source is here, and the original JPN post is here
it's a very good post about the author, a Japanese artist, dealing with harassment from western antis over OMORI fanart, and learning about "proship" discourse, written as an informative piece for others to learn from, and as a warning of how to deal with potential harassers
it also sometimes hits raw as fuck like here

Woooooooow.
The, presumably, usual bunch of unhinged cunts have officially bullied glimmerglanger into deleting all of their fucking fics. You know, glimmer, who was always so fucking polite, always real fuckin nice and happy to share their work and wrote hundreds of thousands of words of fic to share with everyone to enjoy for free. Great fucking work. We really are the worst, most toxic fandom going on 46 years in a row.
You're all a bunch of fucking ghouls. I hope you slice your hand open next time you're chopping vegetables, you insufferable, unlovable, soul-sucking cunts.
Get fucked.

🚨 A harasser calling the Police on a trans artist over Warhammer 40k BDSM porn art and genshin impact 🚨
The harasser seems to be on Tumblr as well so be careful. Situation is very new and currently still ongoing and people is talking about this
TW and CW for the contents below:
Tumblr media
Okay so someone on Twitter is harassing, stalking and doxxing, making false bigotry accusations and calling the cops on an artist over Warhammer 40k art and stuff about genshin impact that person seems to be very upset that the artist is drawing bdsm porn gore Warhammer 40k and they don't like art about Childe x Xiao?...
And they don't like art about Childe getting fucked by the tentacle monster or tortured or shipped with "the wrong person and not their fave"
This is the harasser Twitter account and Tumblr sock puppet account btw. I have no idea if the harasser might have a main Tumblr blog but could be hence why I'm posting this here because the harasser can be anywhere on Tumblr especially on Genshin
Edit: *sighing roll my eyes. Of course it's the people like this always. I had to update the tag now to include pro vs antis stuff... lord...*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see the harasser is making these unhinged accusations about the artist and calling them racist slave owner Nazi (yeah probably the harasser is one of those people who believes that if you like Warhammer 40k then you are a Nazi)
I haven't seen any evidence of the artist doxxing a poc so far while the harasser literally calling the cops on other people over shipping and fan art
Tumblr media
MissingOldRose has been harassing the artist for MONTHS both on Tumblr and Twitter, made concerning and threatening comments about the artist pets and also countless false accusations.
Also you noticed that the harasser is HARASSING THE ARTIST SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY FELL SQUICK?! WHY DID YOU SWAT/CALLING COPS ON SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU FELL SQUICKENED OVER FREAKING GENSHIN IMPACT AND WARHAMMER 40K FAN ART?!
Also accused an SA survivor (the artist) as a rapist over personal vent and fan art. I can't do it anymore with modern fandom. Especially with the fact that cops was called to arrest a TRANS PERSON over fan art. LGBTQA+ people are often the target of police brutality and unfair treatment both from the legal system and that's happening in the western world that supposed to be progressive countries.
In my country LGBT people have no protection
Another important detail
Tumblr media
Yeah fyi for some people who wanting to call the cops or swatting other people over ship/art/ stupid ass shipping discourse, as quoted:
"Anyone has free artistic expression and they (the cops) don't find anything wrong at all with my art"
If you possessing and distributing CSEM yeah you can go to jail. BUT YOU ACTUALLY CAN'T REPORT SOMEONE OVER THE ART OF CHILDE GETTING HIS ASS RAMMED BY TENTACLES OR 40k ART.
Thats a false report and you won't go to jail over Genshin Impact shipping and art.
The situation today still ongoing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember the harasser is on Tumblr, last time i check the soc account is still exists and they MIGHT have main blog on Tumblr as well especially on Tumblr Genshin (but who knows just careful)
If you know MissingOldRose on Tumblr and Twitter or you know if they have main Tumblr account please be careful. @abusiveartistsfuckoff account as listed above is used for harassing and stalking on people Tumblr. Even if this situation doesn't impact you directly. What if that person (especially if you are on Genshin Impact fandom) doesn't like your ship or you art then threaten to do the same to you?
Also have some compassion for the artist please
Sorry for tagging this with genshin, doesn't mean to polluted the fandom but it's just an awareness since the harasser is on Tumblr and also a part of the Genshin community. It's really sucks because the game itself is really fun but by god some people in the Genshin fandom often went too far...

The fact that Nick Mohammed has to write this post makes me mad. And yet, Nick's situation is sadly not unique, so many actors of colour have to deal with negative fan reaction and harassment from the fandom, and often, they have to deal with it alone. (It's almost akin to a fandom initiation for actors of colour at this point.) I really do hope that the white actors and producers will address this and support Nick regarding this, but based on experience, I'm not holding onto hope.

DC FANDOM PSA
Hi folks!
This is a friendly PSA to warn y'all about an individual who has initiated a one-man harassment campaign against anyone even adjacently Snyder-positive.
PLEASE BLOCK THESE URLS:
adwiniguess a/k/a ladybakasta
This person seeks out Snyderverse blogs/posts and harasses the poster via comments, reblogs, and even direct messages. They have actually threatened both myself and a friend and I can only assume they've done the same to others. After the original blog (adwiniguess) was blocked/reported, they made the new blog (ladybakasta) to block-evade and will inevitably do the same again.
Block the urls and report to staff for harassment and we can hopefully get this person ousted from the site entirely.
Thank you!

THIS PERSON HARASSES AND TALKS SHIT ABOUT PEOPLE IN THE INSIDE JOB FANDOM
I made this post on Twitter and decided to keep it off Tumblr so she wouldn’t get attacked here but screw that. She’s still harassing people on Twitter and made a petty remark on a comment I left on her fic MONTHS AGO. I ignored you for months and if you’re being petty, fine I’ll be petty too
Tumblr media
Shylioness14, RazerMyBeloved on Ao3, and @/firebreatah/Breagannnnyeah on Tumblr and has been harassing me and many others for months.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It started with me posting about Ron. I love Ron. I made a lot of content for him because I love his character. I know not everyone likes him, but she goes out of her way to comment on my Ron content about how much she hates him, going as wishing he would SH and kill himself. I hoped she would have stop but she has resorted to abusing the anonymous feature on Tumblr just to keep sending me hate comments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know this is her because she leaves her opinion about how she feels about the show cancellation public. This Guest account doesn’t take a FUCKING dumbass to find out who it is! When ONE PERSON is happy about the Inside Job cancellation, you know who it is! She had a vent account where she boasted about Inside Job being cancelled and makes fun of the fandom for being sad about CANCELATION. She boasts about how mature she by making fun of us and sending anons messages to US!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DO NOT SUPPORT AS SHE IS STILL CONTINUING THIS BEHAVIOUR EVER SINCE HER CALL OUT IN EARLY JUNE! THIS IS MY TWITTER POST MADE IN EARLY JUNE!! SHE HAS DONE THIS ON MULTIPLE SOCIAL MEDIAS!!! REPOST IF YOU WANT BUT DO NOT HARRSED THEM

Insight from “Izzy Canyon” on racism in the OFMD fandom and putting our cards on the table
This post below is in response to this one by @ourflagmeansgayrights
Phew! Thank you for hanging tight for this! First, I wanna thank you for sharing your vantage point in the fandom. It can be really easy to forget that we’re all seeing different things at different times in our dashboard/timelines/feeds so it means a lot that you’ve been trying to expand your viewpoint to meet me halfway (especially hard to do when there’s strong emotions involved). On my end, I joined the ofmd fandom through Twitter in mid-May (correction: it was closer to early or mid-April) and have been properly active on Tumblr since November 2022.
The attitude that you described adopting during the early fandom days (leaning into discomfort in order to center the perspectives of fans of color) is something that I’ve seen reflected in my circles within “Izzy Canyon” and outside of it too.
I can see why there‘s been a perception that people pushing back against “izzy critical” posts by complaining about the targeted harassment Izzy fans have been receiving were attempts to shut down conversations about racism—diverting attention from racist harm by pointing out a different issue is common tactic after all. One that me and the people who have been pointing out the targeted harassment of Izzy fans do not care for. At the core of this pushback is the fact that we are part of a fandom culture that refuses to ignore racism (good) while also enabling a social dysfunction where antiracist rhetoric is used to exact abuse against members of our fandom community, including fans of color (bad). This is a solvable problem.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to meet you halfway on the list of grievances you and other "izzy critical" folks compiled by including the voices of Izzy fans. This took the form of a container worksheet (linked below) that was based on the list you provided. A friend (@uselessheretic) generated clarifying questions to help establish a common ground that’s set on finding effective, restorative ways to address racialized harm in our fandom community. Before presenting this container and the input of Izzy fans, I want to make two requests and address your input on white favoritism.
Invitation to pursue a restorative approach
I use the word “restorative” multiple times in this post. This is in reference to restorative justice, which is the framewok I’ve been trying to apply throughout my exchanges with you and other “izzy critical” blogs.
I learned about the notion that we could apply a restorative justice approach to harm done in the ofmd fandom through this brief image thread by a fellow ofmd fan about how to practice Restorative Justice in Social Media Spaces. I can’t recommend this resource enough.
Tumblr media
Request to focus on Behaviors vs People
In reference to the story you shared about a Black fan being called scary: I didn't know about this incident before you described it. What you described is indeed a racist microaggression and it’s behavior that I refuse to enable. If the attitudes reflected in this incident are indeed still pervasive in the fandom, then we need to address it. What I've seen work is an approach that‘s more “hard on the issues and gentle on the people.”
A lot of “Izzy fans” shared insight that supports a statement you made on your last post: that a lot of the grievances in the list are not exclusive to “izzy-positive spaces.” With this in mind, and in the spirit of working together to address the cultural problem we have in our hands, I want to request that we steer away from thinking of the list of behaviors and beliefs as coming from a “type/genre of izzy fan” for the following reasons:
The social structures in fandoms are largely flat (non-hierarchical) and interpersonal (not institutional), which is why culture change is more achievable if we focus on influencing changes in behaviors as opposed to people. Even if there’s items on the list that are more common on the “Izzy side,” it’s easier and less antagonistic for community members to deal with problem behaviors than with problem people. (Of course, there’s always exceptions to this.)
Constructing a “type/genre" of fan who's rife with racist beliefs in a fandom as supportive of social justice as the ofmd fandom, doesn't inspire behavior change: it makes a scapegoat out of “Izzy fans” and encourages a punitive, adversarial mindset. This scapegoating has the following unintended consequences for BIPOC:
A. It supports exclusionary and inaccurate assumptions about BIPOC who disagree on popular race-conscious meta or simply enjoy Izzy: that we are deficient in some way (prioritizing white comfort over the safety of nonwhite fans) or that we simply don’t exist within the scapegoated subset of fandom (talking about “izzy fans” and “BIPOC” as if they’re separate, adversarial categories).
B. This scapegoating ALSO facilitates white guilt by giving white fans in the wider fandom easy “outs” to avoid evaluating their own implicit biases towards BIPOC. All they need to do is avoid the “izzy side of fandom,” uncritically promote popular race-conscious meta posts, and follow accounts that are run by people who disclose that they are not white. No need to cultivate vulnerable, equal, honest relationships with fans of color, just stay quiet when they talk about race and support their positions, even when you disagree. No need to stretch your imagination to give depth and dimension to the many characters of color we have at our disposal–just focus on the two canon romances of Ed/Stede and Jim/Oluwande. I have witnessed these attitudes in the OFMD fandom at large, including “Izzy Canyon.” Ascribing the bulk of racist behaviors to a subset of the ofmd fandom unintentionally offers the rejection of other fans (“Izzy fans”) as an easy alternative to doing the slow, reflexive, emotionally demanding work of confronting the racial prejudices we all bring into fandom.
This particular request and observations are informed by conversations with BIPOC and white people within “Izzy Canyon.” They are also informed by my own formal+informal training and experience teaching organizers in my local community how to adopt racial justice lenses. I would also be remiss not to mention that at least half of the BIPOC who supported the development of this post have real-life experience leading antiracist and restorative work in their own communities through education and grassroots organizing. We know just how challenging it is to talk about and dismantle racism.
On white favoritism
I don’t know how much awareness there is about this on the “izzy critical” side of fandom, but uselessheretic wrote a guest post in Stitch's Media Mix about concrete ways in which fans can uplift characters of color and subvert white favoritism. I am curious about perceptions among “Izzy critical” people about this article, since it does carry important insight about fandom culture and is incredibly well-grounded in antiracism.
Finally, your expansion on white favoritism (“fans who have fixated on izzy and whose brains will not let them create anything but izzy content…”) struck a deep chord, especially among BIPOC contributors. So much so, that someone added this item to the worksheet and so many people responded that it needed its own page. I will let their input speak for itself and add that a lot of it resonates for me.
Invitation to "talk it through" (aka "the container")
This worksheet is grounded on the list of grievances you compiled. It's meant to be a container where “Izzy likers” and “Izzy criticals” alike can share an understanding of each other’s experiences with harassment and racism in the fandom. This is putting all the cards on the proverbial table. Kinda like…
Tumblr media
As of now, the worksheet has been filled out by “Izzy Canyonites” from Twitter, Tumblr, and Discord. BIPOC Izzy fans were the first to contribute to the sheet and make up the majority of voices in it.
In filling out this sheet, my asks to “izzy critical” fans (especially nonwhite fans) are to (1) read the existing input from “izzy fans” and (2) answer the questions in the empty cells.
(If you’re an “Izzy fan,” please DO NOT ADD to the worksheet. I’m good to receive DM’s if u need to get anything off your chest)
Without further ado: here it is
My hope is, if there’s a collective desire, that we can brainstorm more effective approaches to mitigating and preventing harm (especially racist harm) in the fandom together.
Ok that’s what I got. Big shoutout to all my Izzy Canyon friends (old and new). I know this shit is emotionally charged. Love you all and love our creative, fun, loving corner of the fandom. ❤️ Special shout-out to friends who are impartial to Izzy but care about the psychological and emotional safety of fellow fans: your influence is super grounding 💚
Finally, big appreciation to the ppl on the other side of the izcourse who went through the trouble of giving their two cents. Particularly BIPOC. That was neat of y’all and I do hope to see more of what you have to say. 💛

Fandom Harrassment comes about from a sort of... paradox of Internet Culture.
You go onto the Internet and get into Fandoms to get away from reality. It's a break, a respite from the world's woes. You're here to have fun.
However, something happens.
Maybe a new episode wasn't up to snuff.
Maybe a new season has a major downgrade in general quality.
Maybe a character developed in a way that didn't gell with you.
Either way, you're upset.
Sometimes it's something you throw out into the ether just to let off steam before pressure can build.
Sometimes you want blood.
And when, say, a writers and/or creator of said story you were into happens to be on Twitter (X can eat it) or any Social Media site that allows you to make contact with them, they pretty much opened the drawbridge for anybody to invade their kingdom.
So you fancy yourself as the hero flying in to face the one that "betrayed" you and seek to verbally attack them. It's criticism. It's you defending what you love. It's... harassment.
And of course, you think you're the only one when you're caught up in your furvert but there are many others like you acting out this fantasy and not realizing that one the other side is... just person just like you.
They're barely paid the living wage you'd expect them to have.
They barely have control over how freely they tell their story when operating within a studio looking for disposable entertainment than art.
They're just doing what they feel makes for a good story.
But them being so down to Earth lets them being the sacrificial lambs while the studio heads who are out of touch with... reality really are unaffected by any fandom harassment.
But you don't consider these nuances because... fandom's suppose to be an escape from reality. And on the internet, there's a dissonance between talking smack to somebody in real life and talking smack to somebody online with text.
Except that death threats and other general insults are serious business.
So which is it?
Is Fandom just this fairground where everything goes compared to real life?
Or...
Is it a battleground for where it's your way or the highway?

Snapedom. I don’t like callouts but I feel I need to. As this is a matter that deeply disturbed me to see happen within our community.
User @idioticconsultingdetective, over on Twitter harassed someone for reading noncon Snape fics, and when they deleted their Twitter proceeded to continue to harass them on tumblr too.
They had supporters from @halfbloodre and @potionsev in this gross harassment campaign across multiple social media platforms. They had no sympathy or forethought in the idea that someone could use reading and writing about dark things as a way to process personal trauma. Because as it turned out, their target happened to be using the noncon fic in that way and their harassment prompted them having to talk about it. I don’t know if it was the first time they ever did, but they fact they did after this gross harassment, should make these responsible parties feel ashamed. They are bullies. Plain and simply.
The one who instigated it to cross platforms has deleted their posts and has attempted to change their username in a cowardly move without so much as an apology. But I have reblogged several of the posts and screencapped their Twitter exchanged. On top of reported them for their harassment.
I don’t post this to ask you to harass them. In fact I STRONGLY discourage you to interact with either of them. Don’t give them the attention. In fact IGNORE them.
Instead I’m simply informing you of their actions. And to not repeat them. Just because someone reads something dark, does not mean they endorse it in real life. And why they read something does not give you any reason to demand WHY they read something. No one owes you an explanation for what they read or write.

300 Works on AO3 Check In
I now have 300 works up on AO3. The only harassment from Antis I've received is a hate Ask from an Izzy-Anti and a nasty comment from an anon really upset that I included a pit bull in my fic.
I've also gotten dogpiled, rude comments, and my works reported for talking about racism, but those people don't typically identify as "Antis".
For that matter, you get people who do identify as Antis but don't harass anyone. And most people in fandom have something they dislike but keep that to their own blogs rather than harassing anyone, even if they feel really strong about it. Like, in my current fandom (The Locked Tomb), a lot of the fandom really does not like John Gaius (my blorbo) or second cousin incest ship Camilla/Palamedes (my OTP), but I have not received any harassment for my fandom content here.
So let's talk about strawmen, exaggerated harm, and Making Up A Guy.
See, the reason I started doing these check ins is that I'd encounter breathless warnings about Antis harassing people across fandom. Don't leave comments turned on for your dark fic, the warnings would go, or you'll get harassed. You can't ship X without getting harassed, I was told.
And it just wasn't matching up with my experiences, even though I'm a prolific fic writer who writes a variety of content for a multitude of ships.
Oh, Antis who harass people exist. Like I said, I've encountered them. And I've seen the same happen with others. But I feel like the fear of Antis on a pan-fandom basis outstrips the actual threat. (It seems like some fandoms have a worse Anti harassment problem than others. Our Flag Means Death is bad, and I've heard horror stories about Voltron. But that's the thing: the warnings I see don't narrow their scope to a few specific fandoms; they treat it as if every fandom is as bad as Voltron.)
Now let's talk about Tiffany G. Last year, Tiffany G ran for the AO3 board. Now, like all candidates, she had to meet certain volunteer requirements; not just anyone can run for an AO3 board position.
Tiffany G made some comments about wanting to push back against misconceptions of AO3, and fandom lost its damn mind. She got accused, no lie, of being an infiltrator spy for the Chinese government. Hey, if you're ever wondering why the AO3 board isn't more diverse, it's because when a Chinese fan ran, fandom rallied together to slander her as a spy for the Chinese government. Fans openly celebrated when she lost. Which, you know, has to be a really shitty experience for a devoted AO3 volunteer.
And she was positioned as an Anti and a threat to fandom.
Fandom collectively Made Up A Guy. The phantom menace they'd made up didn't reflect who Tiffany G actually was or what she wanted. It was a caricature - a strawman for fandom to band together and destroy. But there was a real human person being targeted by all that ire.
So what's going on?
Well, out in meat space, there is a lot of censorship and repression, from the U.K. banning protests to the U.S. banning everything from books to gender affirming care to a thousand other shitty things happening all over the globe.
And that can make people feel genuinely powerless. Making Up A Guy to destroy is easy. It makes people feel like they've accomplished something.
But they haven't accomplished anything.
Well, except for probably making one dedicated AO3 volunteer (Tiffany G) feel like shit. Good job, everyone. You didn't stop fascism, but you hurt one random person.
And this is what all the warnings about Antis harassing people are about, why they're broad instead of narrow and why they tend to overstate the [real!] problem.
Because it's about Making Up A Guy that fans can feel so brave for opposing.
Because that's easier than actually doing something.

What do you guys do about harassment and overcoming fear online?
genuine question.
I am an artist. I want to make things and post them. I am scared to make things and post them because I don't want to be canceled over something I didn't even know was a real problem nor do I want people to target me. I don't mind judgement, the real fear is constant dog piling and harassment that stuff may bring. how do you guys cope? do you just ignore them? I am autistic and I barely understand how people work and what is entirely socially acceptable, so advice would be appreciated!
