Everyone stood completely still as they listened to the steady beeping that signalled the call had ended.
Riven saw Sky place a hand on Bloom's shoulder in the periphery of his vision, but he didn't dare to look at the fairies or his friend.
The guilt was threatening to drown him. If he had taught Musa how to fight like she had asked him to, she would have been able to better defend herself.
Worry and fear sank in as images of what could have happened filled his mind. Had those things gotten her? Hurt her?
Was she even still alive?
A nudge on his shoulder startled him and he gazed up to find Dane's eyes on him, an expression of empathy on his face.
It was too much. He didn't deserve his sympathy
With a harsh motion he shrugged him off, stepping away and towards Silva. "Same plan. We're going inside now." Riven nodded, trying to focus on his words above anything else. He needed to be concentrated, needed to swallow his own feelings and empty his mind so he could be the perfect soldier he was trained to be.
Slowly but steadily everyone began to move, grabbing their weapons and preparing for the attack. Riven followed along, his heart heavy and his mind numb.
He should have never let himself get so attached to her in the first place. It was a stupid mistake.
Even as he was fighting the manipulated Specialists alongside Sky his thoughts were reeling around a certain fairy. "Didn't think I would ever see that look on you", the blonde muttered under his breath as they snuck through the dark corridors of the school.
"What are you talking about?" Riven didn't look at his friend as he peeked around a corner, temporarily relieved to find it empty but staying alert.
"You're worried", Sky pointed out, his own sword drawn as he followed closely behind. "We're heading into bloody battle and a psychopath has taken over the school. Hell yeah I am."
Sky inhaled. "That's not what I mean. You're worried about her." He didn't have to say a name to know who he was talking about. "Just don't want her to die now after I carried her all the fucking way to school."
"Oh that's what it is. And here I thought you had a heart."
He was joking, of course, but it still stung. Even more because Sky was right. And if he saw how much he really cared, then how bad was he at hiding his feelings?
"I might be an egoistic dick, but that doesn't mean I don't care what happens to the fairies. No one deserves this shit." They rounded another corner and Riven stopped in his tracks as his eyes caught onto something on the floor.
A phone. Musa's phone.
This was where she had been when she had called. Where she had gotten attacked.
As Sky gave him cover, he crouched down, examining the phone before slipping it into his pocket. He would give it to her when he would see her again. Because he would. He couldn’t allow himself to think anything else.
But his stomach sank as he noticed the drips of blood on the floor. Red blood that could only belong to a person. His fingers gripped the sword a little tighter and he could feel Sky's eyes on him, but ignored him.
"This way", he muttered, following the line of blood. It led them further into the school and where they suspected the fairies were kept. “Hold on.” Sky reached for his phone, drawing his brows together when he looked at it. “Bloom’s upstairs. Something has happened with Sebastian.”
Riven looked at his friend for a moment, taking in the conflict on his face before sighing. “Go. I got this.” He saw the hesitation in Sky’s eyes as he lowered his sword. “You sure?”
Riven waved him off. “I’ll be fine. Now go and make sure your girlfriend doesn’t burn down the whole school.”
Sky offered him a nod and he saw the concern behind his eyes before he turned and left. The little redhead had really stolen his friend’s heart.
Riven would never admit that he admired them for what they had. That it made him even a little jealous sometimes. But he wasn’t the guy for relationships. Nothing about him was boyfriend material. His recent breakup with Beatrix had proven that yet again.
With cautious steps he continued his way alone, careful to be quiet and ready to attack or defend himself if necessary. But to his surprise and unease the corridors were empty.
Perhaps the other specialists and the monsters had been called outside where the real fight was taking place. But the lack of opponents still made Riven feel on edge. It seemed too easy.
Finally he reached the room where he could make out the group of fairies. Most of them seemed well enough. A bit raddled, scared and exhausted, but alive and unharmed.
The door squealed when he opened it and the noise echoed through the tunnels, alerting everyone who was near to his position. But nothing happened. No one came.
As fairy after fairy rushed past him, some sending grateful and relieved smiles his way, Riven scanned the room. Most were keeping their heads low and it was dark so it took him a moment, but then the realization struck him with full force.
Musa wasn’t among them. She wasn’t here.
“Hey”, he turned to one of the boys who was just marching past him, holding him back with a hand on his arm. “Have you seen Musa?”
The redhead shook his head. “She was never here.”
Riven let him go without another word, closing his eyes for a moment as his answer sank in. If Musa had been taken but never brought here, where the hell could she be?
He knew the fairies were expecting him to guide them outside, or at least somewhere safe, but he couldn’t turn away and leave. Not without her.
“Go through the East corridors. I cleared them on the way here so they should be monster free”, he quickly briefed the last one to pass him, a tall boy with brown curls. “You’re not coming with us?”, he asked surprised and Riven shook his head, his eyes already fixed on the corridors he hadn’t searched yet.
“There’s still someone I need to get.”
With that he left, his heartbeat the only sound guiding him through the darkness.

Note
They could have fixed Musa's cast by revealing that she really is Darcy. If I'm being honest, Musa!Fate looks a lot like Darcy, she reminded me of that because of the use of her powers in the second season, they even share a color, purple. It's like Musa!Fate has Musa (her story) and Darcy paired together. Although I will always say that the phrase that Riven says to Musa in the first season of Fate "don't get in my mind" is a phrase that Riven could perfectly say to Darcy.
Riven in the first season of Fate looks more like an edgy Brandon, but with toxicity and having a relationship with the villains (Beatrix).
He would like to be the Riven of Fate the Riven that he really is. It's funny how the character changed in the middle of the second season, but I think it changed because of the criticism the showrunner received, rather than because of an intention to evolve the character. The Riven from the first season and the one from the second season half are different people. The Riven from the middle of the second season is closer to that of the Winx.
If there was Rivusa in the second season, it was because of the criticism the series received, not because there was an intention to build a slow romance. If they had wanted to do it from the beginning, there would have been more scenes in the first season. And there was only one, which was fan service.
Musa being Darcy could’ve been a very interesting route to take. Especially since her powers really do align more with Darcy’s than with Winx Musa’s
Rivusa was absolutely the show’s way to get some of the fans of the OG to come back to s2.

Yuletide 2022 Letter
Dear potential writer,
I hope this letter finds you well, but if not, then I hope this year’s Yuletide gives you an extra dose of happiness to diffuse these chaotic times. A great story can be the simplest way to turn around someone’s day and make life just a little bit brighter.
Thank you so much in advance for even taking the time to read this and consider writing for me. Due to the new requirement this year of opting in with treats, know that I am open and grateful for any that you may choose to write.
Below are my desired fandoms/pairings and story ideas, but please don’t feel stifled by the prompts. I’ve also listed my general likes and dislikes at the very bottom if you decide to go a different route.
Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs:
Characters: Leah Cornick and Bran Cornick
The world Patricia Briggs has created with Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega is ever-growing and continues to astound me with its complexity. It feels so real and has such a lush history that every surprise revelation is both shocking and simultaneously feels very organic to the story. I think the urban fantasy/paranormal aspects are handled very well, especially the werewolf dynamics and rules that Briggs has created.
One of the biggest shocks to me from the Alpha and Omega companion series is how much I’ve come to love Leah. I, like most readers, absolutely hated her when she was introduced in the Mercy Thompson books. But as we’ve come to learn more about her backstory and her relationship with Bran, I have a new level of understanding of why she is the way she is. She is so much stronger and more nuanced than I would have ever believed her capable. And while I still like Bran, he’s also a much more flawed person than I'd originally thought. I realize there are a lot of books in this world, so don’t worry about spoiling anything with your potential story. You can include as much or as little of the newer books as you’d like. I’m also going to keep my prompts relatively simple for this pairing. I only ask that Leah and Bran are not broken up. If you’d like to just write them in an adventure story without any romantic elements, that’s totally fine. I would like them to remain together, though.
Story ideas:
What are the dynamics like between Bran and Leah now that he knows more about her past? How has his understanding of her personality and actions changed with these revelations
For a long time, Bran and Leah were together without really being “together” in the emotional sense. I’d love to see them learning more about each other and falling in love all over again.
Leah is constantly full of surprises. What is something that she does that surprises Bran and/or the pack (preferably for the better), and how do they react?
While some of the more recent books have focused more strongly on Leah and Bran than in the beginning, I’d still not consider them the main characters so we don’t always get to see the full fallout of all their storylines. Taking any of the major plots involving them and giving their perspective or showing what happens later would be wonderful.
Becoming Elizabeth (TV 2022):
Characters: Elizabeth I of England and Robert Dudley 1st Earl of Leicester
There is so much that we don’t know about the inner workings of the Tudors. What we do know, though, is absolutely riveting. Who doesn’t love stories of royalty and betrayals and struggles for power? In a world that was dominated by men, Elizabeth I being a queen in her own right is part of what makes her so fascinating. Her refusal to marry just adds to the intrigue of what was going on in her mind during all of these important historical events that we only get glimpses of in books.
Becoming Elizabeth is the first show I’ve seen that dedicates so much story to the early years before Elizabeth even takes the throne. From feeling estranged from her only remaining family to being emotionally manipulated by a man twice her age, she is portrayed as such a flawed yet sympathetic character. The only ocassions where we see her actually act her age and be herself are when she’s with her friend, Robert Dudley, the only one who was truly on her side. We don’t know exactly what happened between the real life Elizabeth and Robert, but with the fictional show versions I wish circumstances were different and they could have found a way to be together. If you prefer them as just very supportive friends, most of the below prompts should still work, I would just ask little or no focus be placed on Robert's two marriages.
Story ideas:
I'm crushed we won't be getting future seasons to see Elizabeth take the throne. I'd love to see a story exploring the progression through her brother's death and sister's ascension to her finally becoming queen. How does Robert support her during any/all of these moments?
Even though I knew she was going to decline him, I still wanted to reach through the screen and shake some sense into our future queen when she turned down Robert's proposal. We know from history that Queen Elizabeth was plenty successful without a man at her side. But it doesn't make someone weak to want to be loved. What could have happened if the proposal was accepted?
I found the scene in episode 8 where Edward Seymour apologizes to Elizabeth for not stopping his brother's inappropriate actions very refreshing as we so rarely see in historical dramas any acknowledgment that these predatory behaviors are wrong. We even got an indirect acknowledgment from John Dudley when he was reading Kat's account of Elizabeth's treatment. It would be interesting to see how Elizabeth's perspective of Thomas Seymour and what he did shifts over time. We can assume that Robert knows some of what happened, but his realization that he may have gotten some of it wrong, reaction to the truth, and support to Elizabeth's emotional recovery would be a nice addition as well.
Political machinations and all of the scheming are part of what make these dramas so fun to watch! Departing from some of my more serious story ideas, I want to throw in a suggestion of just something bantery and tropey. Fake dating for political gain with ultimately friends to lovers! Throw in humorous exasperation from Edward Seymour and John Dudley who don't know how Elizabeth and Robert are so oblivious.
Fate: The Winx Saga (TV):
Characters: Riven and Musa
Despite this show’s flaws, I became instantly enamored with it. Season 2 was an improvement over season 1 in some ways, and a regression in others. One of the main positives that came out of the second season was more interactions between Musa and Riven. I was sold on them from their single (I think?) scene in the first season, and even though they still didn’t have a lot more screen time together, what they did have was *chef’s kiss*.
These two are so natural together and you can see that they genuinely enjoy being in each other’s presence. In season 1, they gave off more enemies-to-lovers vibes and I expected more of the same this season, which we got with their banter and butting heads over Musa’s specialist training. However, I was shocked by how soft Riven could also be with Musa from their discussion of Musa’s lost powers to the image of Riven carrying her prone form after battle. I’m so hopeful for another installment so we can get more relationship development and more of their insane chemistry!
Story ideas:
Episode 5 was a gift sent straight down from heaven. From Riven's pleased expression when we "saves" Musa from Terra's ministrations, to him trying to figure out what's bothering her when they're fighting, to him sitting down with Musa when she's stuck on the track and having a heart-to-heart... I want more soft Riven protecting Musa from her well-intentioned friends and having the serious conversations that need to be had. Whether it's about her not wanting her powers back in season 2 or her learning to cope with them next seadon (or something else entirely!).
It was no mistake the way the ending scenes of the second season were set up, with each fairy being comforted by a loved one. And of course Musa's comforter was in the form of Riven bring her the magic-supressing bracelets and them practicing together. We see you writers... Training sessions are practically their love language at this point. As they start to recognize their feelings for each other, what sorts of conversations do they have and what issues do they work out in the middle of a session?
I like to imagine Riven being the proud boyfriend when he hears of Musa's fighting skills coming in handy when reacuing Flora, while simultaneously being angry that she didn't have any back-up in a dangerous situation. Except, maybe as Sky has to remind him, Riven isn't Musa's boyfriend and perhaps he needs to stop being scared and avoiding the inevitable. This could even be set past season 2 when the gang getting Bloom back. There are a lot of opportunities for Riven to be the doting and overprotective not-quite-a-boyfriend.
Any type of enemies-to-lovers story you want to write would be welcome. There is so much potential here for some wonderfully angst-filled scenes! It could be reluctant allies as they work toward a common cause, fake dating to get information on someone, their friends trying to pair them up despite their protests, etc.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (TV 2022):
Characters: Elrond Peredhel and Durin IV
To get this out of the way first, no, the first season was not perfect, nor was it even "good" at some points. There were many missteps with pacing and characterization. Still, I found myself sitting down each week to watch the newest episode, and I did become increasingly invested in the characters. In particular, I loved when the episodes focused on the dwarves. Durin was an immediate favorite of mine as I found him to have one of the most compelling storylines.
One thing I did appreciate with the direction the show took was the focus placed on Durin and Elrond's friendship. The actors were absolutely convincing in their portrayls of best friends that had been apart for years and were seeing each other again with a lot of history behind them. They were simultaneously heartwearming and hilarious together. Almost all of my laughs and cries were during their scenes, and each week my main wish was just to see more of their interactions and to hope they didn't become estranged. Durin and Elrond have so much going against them, but I think their bond of friendship is strong enough to prevail. I personally only see Durin and Elrond as friends so would prefer nothing overtly romantic between them. If you want to include a romance, I like all of the canon relationships (both within the show and in general Tolkien lore). I just ask that the main focus is on Durin and Elrond's friendship.
Story ideas:
All the backstory! How did their first meeting really go? It seems that Elrond was actually the one to save Durin, but the tale of the trolls sounds like a wild and hilarious time.
Durin was a better friend than I with how quickly he forgave Elrond for missing his wedding and the births of his children. I would have required a lot more groveling. Show me a Durin that is a little slower to forgive and makes Elrond do some crazy things to earn that forgiveness. Or if you want to go really off path here, change up history and have Elrond and Durin reconnect much sooner than two decades (late to the wedding perhaps?).
I truly have no predictions of how closely the show is going to follow canon given the contents of season 1. That being said, I think it would be interesting to see Durin's reaction to the rings being created, his conversations with Elrond about the rings (and perhaps Sauron), or just in general a scene(s) of Durin and Elrond conversing about the events that just took place. If you are familiar with the Tolkien canon and where the story may go, feel free to include pieces as you see fit without fear of spoiling.
All the times Durin and Elrond have supported each other over the years and have been more like brothers than just friends. Could be funny, serious, or both!
Things I don’t like:
Non-Con/Rape/BDSM/Sexual Violence/Graphic Sex – I like my characters to be happy and everything within ships to be 100% consensual, no question about it (mentions of non-con if it occurred in canon is fine). I also prefer plot over porn, especially with one-shots.
OT3s – Two people per romantic relationship, please. Any more than that makes me uncomfortable.
Character Bashing - Unless a character is a bad guy in canon, I don’t want to read hundreds of words about how awful they are, especially if they are one of the characters that I requested. Don’t take it out on the characters. If you hate my pairings, just write gen.
Things I love:
Hurt/Comfort – There is nothing I love more than one character comforting another. The hurt can be physical, psychological, or both.
Happy Endings – I’m all for the realistic endings… but if they could be plausible AND at least happy-ish, that would be amazing.
Expanded Scenes/Contorting Canon – Feel free to expand scenes and change up the canon to your heart’s content as long as it makes logical sense.
Humor/Banter/Snark – I thrive on this stuff.
Bonding/Building Relationships – Whether it be a friendship or a romantic relationship, I adore reading about two people growing closer together. When characters know each other so well that they can have conversations with just their eyes or anticipate the person’s next move (especially if it’s to the surprise/confusion of everyone around them), my shipper heart is thrilled.
Dark to Light - Seeing a character come out of a bad mindset or situation and get better is so satisfying.
Happy writing and I hope you get the Yuletide gift of your dreams!

Real life pov:
The sun has been up for hours. Musa is asleep in her bed, the blankets covering her body from the cold as she feels a shifting weight beside her. The fairy opens her eyes slightly and sees her boyfriend moving in his sleep. She just put an arm around him to bring him back against her chest and looks at the time on the clock in her room. The time for the start of classes is near, especially for Riven who has his specialist training in less than an hour. Musa watches her boyfriend sleep with serenity. His closed eyes, his little smile and his calm demeanor prevent Musa from waking him up. It breaks her heart to have to wake him up. After a few minutes of reflection, the mind fairy delicately leans towards Riven and gently places a few kisses on the boy's face in order to be able to gently wake him up. She delicately places a kiss on his pink lips and as she sits up, she hears a slightly raspy voice speak: "Another."
"Another what?" Musa replies with a slight chuckle in her voice.
"Kiss me again."
"Hmm?"
"Please..."
She finally comes to put her hand on the young man's cheek and bends down to kiss her boyfriend. Riven can feel butterflies in his stomach as his lips touch Musa's in a long kiss.
They separate a few seconds later, out of breath.
"Why such a pleasant awakening?" The boy asks as he lays back, absently stroking Musa's hip.
"You have practice in not even thirty minutes."
Riven sighs as Musa laughs at his reaction.
"Come on, stand up, big boy."
He frowns and stands up reluctantly.
An hour later, after practice, Silva gathered all the specialists for a quick meeting. Riven goes to sit on the grass between Sky and Kat. He doesn't understand why, but Riven feels a bad vibe, something bad is brewing and a slight panic begins to creep inside him because he doesn't know what.
"Why are we gathered here?" The boy asks Sky.
"You do not know?" Answers the blond.
"What don't I know?"
"Uh..nothing nothing..."
Riven frowns even more when he sees his best friend not answering him when he knows what's going on. It is at this moment that Silva appears and clears his throat to attract the attention of his students and bring silence.
"Hello everyone, some of you already know about it but today is an open day. Some parents will be present and I would like you not to change any of your habits, stay natural we want visitors to see the day to day in our establishment."
Students begin to get up to resume their normal activity. Yet Riven still feels that thing deep inside him, that feeling of discomfort. There is something hidden from him and he doesn't appreciate it at all. He gets up and as he walks towards Silva, Sky follows him.
"Saul can we talk?"
"What's the matter ?" Ask the teacher at the same time to put away the swords for the next lesson.
"What are you hiding from me?"
"Nothing at all..."
"No, no absolutely not, we always said there was no secret between us and there, you and Sky are hiding something from me. If you don't answer me, I'll ask Stella and you know very well that she will answer me ."
The more he talks, the redder his face becomes with anger and stress. Silva finally replies: "Your parents will be there."
At these words, Riven feels his world crumble. The barriers and walls he's been creating for years are crumbling before his eyes, the bricks of his armor are coming aggressively at him. He hasn't seen his parents for years, they abandoned him. Why would they come? He does not understand. He doesn't understand and at this moment, Riven doesn't know how to do anything but run away, as usual.
A few hours later, Musa comes out of her botany class. She tucks her book into her bag as she puts on her headphones so she can walk the halls undisturbed and engrossed by other people's thoughts. While her eyes are frozen on her playlist, looking for a good song, she runs into someone. The fairy looks up at the person to apologize and quickly realizes it is Sky in front of her. The blond has a panicked look on his face and the anguish he feels could be felt miles away.
"What's going on Sky?" Musa asks, removing her headphones and putting them in her pants pocket.
"Have you seen Riv?"
"No why? What's going on?"
The specialist does not want to answer. He doesn't want to worry Musa.
The boy's panic is so impressive. Musa has never felt so much fear in someone. This emotion comes away from them to go crashing against the walls. It flows everywhere. It breaks into pieces and reforms. It floats up to them. And takes Sky in his arms. Anguish, this destructive feeling. This worries Musa.
"Sky please tell me."
The boy comes to scratch the back of his neck with some discomfort. Though he talks, maybe Musa will manage to find Riven.
"Today is open house, and his parents will be there..."
"What?!" Musa opens her mouth wide in shock.
"Yes and Riven ran away, he doesn't want to be confronted by them. Please Musa tell me you know where he might be."
She nods. Staring off into space, trying to dig into her brain to figure out where her boyfriend might be. And that's where it tilts in her brain: "I think I know, I'll send you a message if I find him."
As she is already going the opposite route, Sky calls her.
"What?"
"Watch out for him, watch out for you two."
Musa nods slowly.
With a determined step, Musa enters the forest. She knows he's there, on the rock she often goes to when she needs to clear her head. And she knows he's there, because they're the same person. The fairy walks faster and faster and the leaves crunch under her shoes. The further she goes, the clearer the noise becomes. She hears heavy sobs. After a few more seconds of walking, she finally finds him. She knew he would be there.  She see him beneath her eyes and what those eyes see breaks her heart. Riven is half seated against a rock. Hot tears stream down his face and his eyes look so tired from crying that they are red. He has a cigarette between his lips which he holds in a trembling hand.
"Love?"
Riv looks up at Musa and a sob escapes his lips. It's the first time anyone calls him Love, it's the first time Musa calls him Love. He instantly extinguishes the cigarette on the rock then puts the rest of the cigarette in his pocket. He doesn't want to throw it on the ground and pollute it. Awkwardly, the boy wipes his tear-filled face with his sleeve.
"Oh Musa, sorry."
"Sorry for what Riven? You didn't do anything." Said the fairy walking towards him.
She puts her bag against the rock then comes to stand in front of him.
"Sorry." He repeats with a trembling voice.
"Riv don't apologize."
The boy lowers his head. Musa, meanwhile, delicately raises the boy's face so that he looks at her. She smiled softly at him. Riven's heart skips a beat, overwhelmed by Musa's sweetness. It must have taken so much violence to become this gentle.
"Sky explained to you?" Riven asks as he turns his face to place a kiss in the palm of Musa's hand.
""Yes, he explained everything to me." Answers Musa, coming to delicately caress the boy's cheek.
"I don't understand, really I'm trying but I don't understand why they come back. They abandoned me, abused and insulted me all my childhood and now they come back?! It doesn't make any sense."
Riven frowns trying to understand the sense of the situation, "What am I doing Musa?"
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't want to see them."
"So come on, let's spend the day together."
Riven nods vigorously and stands up. He picks up Musa's bag as she sends a message to Sky saying that for now, everything is fine.
Musa's pov:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a few hours in Riven's room, the two lovebirds finally decide to go out to look for food in the cafeteria. They cross the corridors holding hands.
"Do you want to eat at the cafeteria or shall we go back to your room?"
"I'd rather go back to the bedroom, I don't want to risk running into my parents." Riven replies, shaking the fairy's hand a little more.
She comes to gently caress the specialist's hand with her thumb to calm him down. He comes to open the door and holds it for Musa to pass. After that, they both head for the food. Riven chooses the food and begins to take it, however the canteen woman offers to put the meal in a paper bag to bring it back with them more easily. The specialist thanks her and turns around to find Musa retyping her space buns with pins.
A small chuckle escapes Riven's mouth as he speaks, "Do you want some help Pixie?"
"Don't make fun of me Riv, I'm hearing your laugh huh. But yes help me please."
The boy's laughter intensifies as Musa sticks her tongue out at him. He approaches her and comes to tie up the buns with the pins that the fairy hands him. He winks at her when he's done and she smiles back. It's such a bright, reassuring smile. Riven falls in love with her again every time she smiles at him like that. To keep from blushing at that beautiful smile, Riven turns to take the bag of food. While they are in the hallway, Beatrix rushes at Riven. Moreover as he gets up, Beatrix signals to Musa not to take the road they were going to take. She doesn't understand why and that's when she falls from nose to nose with eyes that are so bright green and so resembling Riven's. His father. And his mother on his arm. She turns her gaze to her boyfriend and sees him breathing harder and harder, stuck in place. Beatrix waits on the side for a reaction and their friends are standing behind Riven's parents, a sorry look on their face. Saul is there too, next to Sky. After a deep breath, Riven takes Musa's hand to leave.
A deep, sizzling voice is heard.
It's Riven's father who speaks: "We come to see you and you run away? You haven't changed at all."
Musa feels the anger and sadness burrowing from Riven next to her. He continues to walk though and the fairy whispers "You should be ashamed."
"You should watch who you hang out with, son." Launch the old man.
Everyone looks at Riven with horrified eyes. He slowly lets go of Musa's hand and turns back to his parents just as slowly. And without warning he almost throws himself on them. Fortunately, in the meantime Silva has managed to get between them. He tries to get Riven as far away from the other two adults as Riven screams angrily.
"Saul let go of me, let go of me so I can smash them. Who do you think you are? Do you want to speak ill of me? No worries. But never dare to hurt the people I love again because I swear otherwise even hell won't be painful enough for you."
The specialist's face is flushed as he struggles in Silva's arms.
"Riven.." Tries to talk to her mother.
"NO, NO! I SPEAK NOW. You have belittled me, abused me, abandoned me and now you come here and claim any right to me and my life. Never. I make it clear to you that I have my own life, that it's Silva my father, that in my eyes Sky, Stella and Beatrix are like brother and sisters, because they are the ones who lived with me, not you, them. Never speak ill of my girlfriend again. You are anything but parents to me but that's it, I don't give you the power to hurt me anymore."
It's his life. His. And no one can take that away from him.

With HEX 2023 behind us and being only a few hours away from wrapping up yet another year, I just want to say a HUMONGOUS thank you to @fitztragedy and @skloomdumpster - the most wonderful duo of Discord admins I’ve met so far! I am forever grateful to you both for creating the Winxsource server where I’ve met some of the best people in the world (both of you included ❤️). I can only imagine how difficult it is to not only create the event calendar for the whole year but also keep it running and fixing up all the details in each event. Of course, we also have our wonderful mods to thank for streamlining the process (yes, you @septemberrie ) ❤️ So, thank you all for giving me a chance to be part of this wonderful group of people, for urging me to participate in events, and for literally making some of the worst days somewhat more bearable 🥰
It’s not much, but with a few free hours between plane rides, I whipped up a short Rivusa and Skloom drabble for my Rivusa and Skloom queens 😆 I know it’s short and it doesn’t even begin to express my happiness and feelings for everything you do, but I hope it does let you know that we in the whole server adore you guys 🥰
Ps. A huge shout out to the amazing and super talented people in the Winxsource server. I have never met a group of people that’s so brilliant! Each one of you guys makes me want to strive for better things and I am really thankful for that ❤️
Cheers to another happy year filled with Fate events and wonderful, wonderful art!
“I just can’t stand him sometimes!” Musa groaned as she slumped on the sofa in the suite, closing her eyes and letting her head fall back.
“What did he do?” Stella, the ever-so-subtle Riven disliker (to put it mildly), asked without moving her head away from inspecting her new soft pink nail polish, her tone matching the bored look on her face.
“I don’t understand it!” The empath sprung up, startling the other girl. “How can someone pretend to be so self-centered-”
“Pretend?” The princess quirked an eyebrow, still holding an uninterested note to her words.
“-and keep arguing with me knowing he’s completely wrong.” Musa jumped from her seat and stormed off to her room, only to return a second later and stride to the counter in the makeshift suite kitchen. “Idiot,” she murmured while taking a sip from the glass of vine she poured in for herself.
“Musa?” Bloom slammed the door open, turning her head around. “There you are! Come with me,” she said as she hooked her arm under hers and started walking back toward the door.
“Wha- Hey!” The empath barely got enough time to slide the glass on the counter, watching it oscillate and slowly stop. “Where are we going?”
“I have something to show you,” the ginger replied, pulling her out of the suite and walking fast down the hallway.
“But I have more to tell Stella. Ri-”
“Yeah, yeah, tell her later.” She made a sharp turn, her hand gripping the mind fairy’s tighter to make sure she wouldn’t stammer from the way she was practically running in the school halls.
“Can you tell me where we’re going at least?”
“Secret.”
Musa’s eyes flickered purple. The way Bloom uttered that one word made that little voice in her head that always pushed her to use her powers in situations that could be deemed intrusive rear its head. There were some of the usual emotions - a hint of anger enough to fire up her powers, a pinch of worry saved for everyone she knew, a huge amount of love. But none of those interested her; no, it was a tiny hazy dot the fire fairy tried her best to hide.
She knew it was wrong - Riven had told her countless times to stay out of people’s heads and not mess with them. But the fairy was hiding something and by the way her hands started getting warmer around Musa's wrist, the empath had a hunch it was something concerning her.
So she did the only thing she could think of at that moment that wasn’t going to hurt their friendship.
“Bloom,” Musa rooted herself to the ground, tugging her hand back, “What’s going on?”
The ginger pivoted on her heels, her eyes rampantly moving around. She tried to grab Musa’s hand again, but the other girl quickly reacted and pulled the hand to her chest.
Well, that was weird. Musa had never seen her friend react like that - something aking to scared, like she was running out of time. But the emotions she was feeling - excitement and expectation to the point the empath got dizzy from it - didn’t align with her actions.
“We really don’t have time for this, Musa.”
“Time for what?” She pushed, taking a little step back as a way to show her she was not only not going with her but also was ready to run back if she had to.
“Oh my…” Bloom groaned exasperatedly. “Look,” she pushed her chin up, the black pupils eating up their blue cuffs, “Do you trust me?”
“Bloom-”
“Do you. Trust. Me?” She put a heavy emphasis on every word, never wavering her gaze.
Musa felt defeated. Because of course, she did. The girl had saved them multiple times; Musa herself had put her life on the line several times so Bloom would live on to save the world. So how could she say no now?
“OK,” she muttered and started walking back to her.
The second she came a foot away from Bloom, the ginger grabbed her hand and started sprinting, dragging the empath behind her. She dashed left and right, avoiding a few students, but leaving Musa to crash into them, papers flying in every direction. And yet, the fire fairy didn’t seem to notice a thing - not Musa yelling for her to stop and certainly not the rest of the students screaming some very colorful words at them.
“Made it!” Bloom finally announced. They came before Sky’s bedroom, facing the door.
Musa leaned forward, her hands on her knees, and started bringing in all the air she could pull in tiny rapid puffs. It took her a minute to regain herself, after which she straightened up and began screaming at the girl next to her.
“Are you insane?! What the hell was that?!”
“Door,” the fairy panted, trying to point to the room before them. Bent forward, she held the same position as Musa had a few seconds ago, only her hair was flipped down, hanging in front of her face.
“Yeah, that’s the door to your boyfriend’s room. Now what the hell did you drag me here for?!”
“Door!” Bloom used every single ounce of strength she had left to look up at the empath and point at the door again. “Go in you idiot!”
Pushing her from behind, Musa hit the wooden rectangle before her - nose first. “Ouch!” she said, rubbing the sore spot and imagining what she’d do to her friend once she turned around.
But before anything else, the door swung open, and against her better judgment, Musa gazed up. She had a few other words to say, all curses of course, but they were gone as she was left there staring at the all-familiar green jades.
His features were soft, eyes slanted into two crescent moons, a gentle smile gracing his lips. The harsh lines of his cheekbones stood out from the light crashing into his back. He looked ethereal at that moment - his hand outstretched, reaching out to her, calling her, while rays of light protruded from everywhere behind him.
Musa was helpless, she knew that. She knew that no matter how mad she was at him, no matter how many times he’d say something stupid and get on her nerves, one smile out of him and she’d melt like snow on the first day of spring.
“You OK, love?” His hand still floating between them, Riven moved to close the distance but stopped at the last second. She felt a strange duality in him - one pulling him toward her and the other urging him to wait. “Muse?” He called her name in the sweetest notes she had so far heard, making her blush and place her hand in his.
Riven bit his lip but immediately covered it with a smile, hoping she had missed that tiny wave of relief washing over him. Because the second her hand had landed in his, the storm in his heart had settled.
He had been an idiot, no point arguing there. But there was something uniquely interesting in making his girlfriend angry. Well, he apparently had to work more on his limits.
The Specialist closed his fingers over hers, warmth sparking at the base of her digits and spreading like electricity through her body. He lightly pulled her inside, closing the door behind him.
One glance at the room and Musa was left speechless. The place had its usual arrangement - two beds, two desks, and a huge dresser. Only now, everything was covered in a dark shade of red and orange, shadows dancing over the walls and furniture.
Tiny flames floated in the air, casting different colors to every surface, reflecting in a million freckles of different sizes and shapes. Their tails curved until they broke free from the body, turning into small sparks that disappeared in one blink.
Riven’s hands snaked around her from behind, nuzzling her hair on one side, until he chose to rest his chin on her shoulder, sighing in contentment. That sound itself pulled the empath out of her daze and she turned her head to look at him.
“Wha-“
“I really am sorry, Muse,” he whispered, the color of spring painted in his eyes. “I shouldn’t have said that. Can you forgive me?”
His emotions were all over the place. There was a lot of guilt, plenty of remorse, anxiety, love, hope… She could get lost in the whirlwind only he knew how to create with only one simple action. But she loved it. She loved him because no matter how messed up he or she was, they both weirdly fit together, like two pieces of a different puzzle perfectly aligning with the rest.
“How can I not when you were ready to commit arson for me?” the empath giggled, turned in his hands, and kissed him.
。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚
“Do you think they made up?” Bloom asked, playing absentmindedly with her boyfriend's fingers dangling over her shoulder.
“I’m pretty sure they’re already making new dents in the wall next to his bed,” the Specialist chuckled and kissed the top of her head as they walked back to the suite.
“So what are you going to do for the rest of the night?”
“What? I’m not invited to stay with you?” he asked with mock hurt, adding a short and hitched breath in to drill in his point.
“Oh, come on.” She jabbed him in the ribs and continued, “I just thought you wouldn’t want to come since Aisha is there.”
Sky didn’t reply. He simply hummed and they kept walking, passing the classrooms and the halls, and going for the fairy dormitories. They walked hand in hand, with his other one still draped over her shoulders, pulling her closer ever so slightly on every 10th step they made.
It felt good to have her next to him. The smell of her cotton flower shampoo reminded him of his childhood days, running down the meadows surrounding his house, stumbling on rocks as the gentle breeze lightly tapped him on his cheeks every time he’d turn around.
The softness of her skin felt soothing under his ruff digits - years of training carved into them; tiny memories of his hard work, poured blood, sweat, and tears. But none of that came to mind when her touch neared him; when her touch barely hovered over his skin, leaving goose pimples skid over his body.
Sky sighed in satisfaction, feeling his body relax when Bloom replied with a sigh of her own and squeezed his hand gently. They came to the suite and she pressed the door open, revealing complete darkness.
“Where is everyone?” Bloom fumbled for the switch, hitting the wall several times until she got it. There was a clicking sound but nothing happened. “Aisha?! Terra?! Stella?! What happened here?”
The Specialist sensed her rapidly raising urgency so he put a stop to it before it went off the rails. He grabbed her hand and turned her to face him, saying, “They’re all out and will be for the night.”
His words were calming, spoken slowly and tenderly. It made the anxiety in her lower until it was only a faint whisper, and she let the tension out by exhaling through her nose.
“You could’ve told me.”
“And where’s the fun in that?” he laughed, pulling her in for a hug. “Now, ready for your surprise?”
Her head bumped into his chin with the speed it flew up. Bloom’s eyes sparkled in anticipation, a big child-like smile stretching her lips. She nodded several times, earning herself a kiss before he pulled her toward her room.
Opening it, the ginger let out a small gasp. The room was covered in flowers of all kinds, vines arching along the walls and the legs of her bed, sprouting small buds of different colors along their length. Several thinner vines fell down from the ceiling, their endings twisted in a spiral, holding bunches of yellow bells that cast a soft bumblebee-colored glow. It looked like the forest had been brought to her.
“You always say you want to frolic outside,” Sky said in her ear, kissing her temple. “So I brought outside to you.”
Bloom couldn’t dignify his actions for she could only stare at the view before her, mouth agape. She had always known her boyfriend was a softie and listened intently, hanging on every word she’d say. But that was something everyone in love did. This here though? It was as close to forever as love could ever get.
“You’re…” Words eluded her, her throat suddenly very dry and scratchy. So she didn’t reply anything more, but simply turned to him and smashed their lips together.
No, nobody could ever be like him. Bloom was certain that nobody in the world could come as close to being as perfect as Sky was. He knew her in and out and chose to stick with her no matter what. And if that wasn’t enough, he did things like this!
“I love you,” she said, breaking the kiss and pulling his head to hers, their foreheads connecting.
“I love you too, Bloom.”

If signing isn't an option then please spread the link, spam the hashtag or let others know of its existence (respectfully, of course) as this marvelous person did to me. Every little bit counts.
Hopefully our voices are heard and even if they aren't we'll know we tried. That alone means a lot as a fandom.

To be honest the only thing I can appreciate about fate is that they provided nuance and linear character development to Rivens character that doesn’t reset after a season without reason. I think they were really setting up the slow burn for future rivusa and I honestly thought they were the best part of the show. The only thing fate probably did better in addition to how anyone of all genders can be fairies or specialists was the nuance added to rivusas relationship and dynamic. The cartoon always made them the drama and reused plot points to pad runtime which is so infuriating. But I felt like fate kinda managed to keep their core dynamic (besides ultra petty arguments that were so unnecessary) of banter etc while maintaining Rivens bad boy persona while simultaneously being able to show he cares for Musa in some way (they definitely knew they were nostalgia bating with him carrying her in fate and even winx club official posted abt it on ig).
I will not lie though I kinda eh abt rivens casting too. Freddy thorpe is so hot and rlly has sexual tension with everyone but a cookie cutter white boy wasn’t exactly what I was expecting to be riven. I know riven is more racially ambiguous but I always thought he was Asian like Musa or waisian because of his narrower eyes. (I do acknowledge everyone does have a diff take on the race of this man and the purple onion head isn’t helping) Even if they wanted him to be a cookie cutter white boy, they could have at least gave him the magenta hair?? Like it probably doesn’t even need to be fully magenta like maybe magenta dip dye might have worked?? Could have given him manbun or a ponytail to give somewhat of a semblance to his spikey hair. Eh maybe future ideas for the new live action reboot of they wish for some accuracy
I will admit I was actually pretty invested in Riven and Rivusa in season 2. I always thought both Riven and Helia were mixed, bordering on white passing so the casting for me is also meh but he did a good job with what he was given.
The only thing I genuienly enjoyed (aside from Bea) was that they let Riven grow even if it was a little bit and they seemed to somewhat understand what made Rivusa appealing.
