I have a big announcement about the She Series book.....it's getting published!!
Last summer we began talking with the people at Media Labs (an imprint of Macmillan: https://us.macmillan.com/publishers/media-lab-books/) and they are publishing our book. This is thanks to all of you who supported our Kickstarter, you all made this happen and I am so grateful.
We had a meeting with the publicity and marketing team and apparently pre-sales are super important. If they are high, the book will be more widely available.
Right now, Barnes and Noble is running a 25% off on all pre-sales with the code PREORDER25: Barnes & Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/.../she.../1145097316...
But even more importantly, PLEASE PLEASE spread the word? Share it with any book clubs, parent groups, library groups, teachers, anything you can think of? If you think there is a group or a blog or anyone we should reach out to, please let us know. It's my dream to see this in actual physical stores this Fall but we really have to push to make that happen.
Also, have been a few changes to the book. Due to space, they have removed 20 essays so this book is an even 100 portraits. Also, they changed the title and the cover a little. BUT it's now a lot less expensive and shipping might be easier if you aren't in the US. We will still carry the original in our Etsy.

🐉REVIEW RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 How has it taken me this long to read a T. Kingfisher book?! Nettle & Bone captured me with its opening passage, but then held my interest with each character added to the traveling party. I adore Marra with her social awkwardness and determination to see each difficult task through to the end. As Marra and her new friends plot to kill an evil king, and the characters trust enough to share details of their lives, the story explores the concept of heroism. What makes a hero? Is it the seemingly impossible tasks they overcome? Their willingness to sacrifice themselves for the greater good? Or could it be simply the decision to choose goodness when you have a capacity for evil. Kingfisher’s tale of a woman whose value is determined by her fertility, is especially timely. The fight for reproductive rights has always been of high importance, but with the recent overturn of Roe v Wade, this story hits more emotionally than it may have a year ago. Nettle & Bone centers on a quest for vengeance and the rescue of a beloved sister. But at its heart, this book is a battle cry for reproductive freedom. With heavy themes and dark settings, Nettle & Bone still manages to be a light read with humor spread throughout. The traveling party is rounded out with the affectionate Bonedog and a chicken “with a demon in her.” And the banter between characters is affectionate and wry. They remain lighthearted despite pursuing a quest they believe is destined to fail. In the author’s note, we learn this novel began as a short story. I hope I can find it online, as I’m curious to see how this tale evolved. I also want to know more about the blistered land, visited briefly. It seems there is more story to be told there than the little bit shared in Nettle & Bone. #nettleandbone #tkingfisher #ursulavernon #torbooks #fantasybooks #bookreview #feministbooks #mybodymychoice #reproductiverights #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CfzOqRapCv6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a big ol' alien dude to sweep me off my feet solely because he IS a big alien dude...and sometimes I'm not. There’s love accumulated over stretches of time that they haven’t met and so you understand that moment when Tom and Claudia are walking in Cairo markets replete with their filth and fragrances, why he wants to buy her something….anything. They both don’t know if there is a future, times being as such, and hope is a flighty word. That desperation to offer something tangible, because who can hold love, is my favourite part of the story. It’s as human as it gets. Penelope Lively’s Claudia- the custodian of lost Hungarians, enterprising, almost fearless, leaving behind her wake of bad decisions, a spunky historian. She is a handful and age has nothing to do with it. As a feisty chit of a girl or as a supposed dowager, lying on white sheets, forgetting the names of things, pretend-sleeping through family visits- there was no point when I wasn’t rooting for her. No two people are born in the same family- siblings meet their parents at different growth trajectories, so each has a different childhood. History is something like that- how the world moves for an Indian is different for how it moves for a Ukranian, a Sudanese, an American. So when Claudia aspires to retell the history of humankind, in effect, it is her version of the world she is offering. Ambitious, much? But then we all think we have a tomorrow and the next year and a life planned till 80, so who isn’t? Travelling through time with Claudia was like diving into the vortex- levels fly past, and everything’s happening simultaneously on them. Lively was right- memory doesn’t care for chronology. Neither is it that clinical nor as neat. I loved the same version of events retold through different character perspectives. Moon Tiger isn’t a romantic read, lest my opening lines put you off. More like a manual for living- if we are going to take up space, might as well make the most of it. PS: The cover. I detest it. #moontiger #penelopelively #delhireader #delhibookstagram #bookerprizewinner #femaleauthors #readingwomen #feministbooks #bookflatlay #delhibookstafam #historicalfiction #smallbooks #recommededreading #womenwhoread #2023readingchallenge #bestbooks2023 #indianbookstagrammer (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn3YEEEL7HZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#feministfriday di @miss.fiction #feminist #feminism #simonedebeauvoir #ilsecondosesso #filosofiaesistenzialista #mito #fuckpatriarchy #proudfeminist #femminismo #nonunadimeno #bookstagram #booksforfeminists #feministbook #grlpwr #lovebeingawoman (presso Paris, France) https://www.instagram.com/p/CM5EBMgngn4/?igshid=1dgf9jk60w8sk

WORDSLUT: A FEMINIST GUIDE TO TAKING BACK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
A brash, enlightening and wildly entertaining feminist look at gendered language and the way it shapes us.
English is scattered with perfectly innocuous words that have devolved into insults hurled at women. The word “bitch” originally meant male or female genitalia. “Hussy” was simply a housewife, and “slut” was an untidy man or woman.
Feminist linguist Amanda Montell explains why words matter and why it’s imperative that women embrace their unique relationship with language. Drawing on fascinating research, and moving between history and pop culture, Montell deconstructs language – from insults and cursing to grammar and pronunciation – to expose the ways it has been used for centuries to gaslight women. Montell’s irresistible intelligence and humour make linguistics not only approachable but downright enthralling.
Wordslut gets to the heart of our language, sheds light on the biases that shadow women in our culture and shows how to embrace language to verbally smash the patriarchy.

BOOK LOVERS! My sister, Jill Celeste, recently released her book, LOUD WOMAN! Yes, writing runs in the family! Jill has loved the world of books since she was a child, always carrying one around with her. I’ve read the book and it’s excellent. Very moving and inspirational, especially for women empowerment. It’s a memoir, too, and she shares her struggles through life and how she overcame them. I couldn’t believe when I read that an ex had tried to strangler her, a secret she never revealed to me (probably a good thing for him 😡). Find out how she handled it! This would be such a great book for a young girl, too. Her goal is to reach a major bestsellers list such as USA Today or NYT. To do this, she needs 5-10k in sales this week, and the last day to help is today. Could you help? Here’s the link to purchase: jillceleste.com Also, could you share this post on your social media to spread the word? Thanks so much! 💛 Keep on reading 📚 #booklaunch #bookrecommendation #booksforwomen #bookstagram #booksuggestion #buythisbook #empoweringwomen #feminism #feministbook #feministreading #feministwriting #inspiringwomen #jillceleste #loudwoman #memoir #nonfiction https://www.instagram.com/p/CUSHZseL-_o/?utm_medium=tumblr

We 💜@feministbookclubbox! Happy Small Business Saturday! "I'm Renee Powers. I founded Feminist Book Club in the spring of 2018 to connect feminist who love to read with their next favorite book and with other feminist readers. I also wanted to utilize my gender studies degrees in a way that creates actionable change. Over time, Feminist Book Club also became a space to showcase the businesses of other woman and minority genders. We've featured innovative products like @vixedbco vegan baking mix and sassy products like @flipem_thebird gloves. We've celebrated kidpreneurs with @confidentgrlnet bath bombs and Jewish grandmas with @matzoproject. And to continue the celebration, WE'RE RUNNING A SALE ON ALL OUR PREVIOUS BOXES! Studies have shown that when we shop at woman-owned businesses, we can lift generations out of poverty. So why shop just one woman-owned business when you can get a box (or two... or three...) of books and products from several at once? Head to feministbookclub.com/shop to check out the sale (link in bio).
