Today is Amber’s third birthday, this character of mine has always been my favorite and this year I decided to make some changes. Her design has been updated with a new look, but her personality is still wreckless and fun, same as she’s always been. Happy birthday Amber, you’ll always be my favorite

Note
Found you out for your undead unluck posts (because they are very few of those) and I wanted to know what other things you are into? Other mangas, games, shows, whatever you enjoy.
For manga, I read basically everything running in Jump at any given time, but these are my highlights off the top of my head
Medaka Box
The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You (not Jump, but Jump adjacent)
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
One Piece
Oumagadoki Zoo
Shaman King
Straighten Up!
Hinomaru Zumou
Cipher Academy
Yugioh
Chainsaw Man
Saint Seiya (begrudgingly)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Enigme
Act-age (heart-breakingly)
Buso Renkin (see above)
Rurouni Kenshin (again, see above...)
Rave Master (spitefully)
Law of Ueki
Katekyo Hitman Reborn (bitterly)
Psyren
Tangentially, I also like the A Certain Magical Index novels and the Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases novel
For games, I'm wholeheartedly a Nintendo guy and I go out of my way to play as many first-party Nintendo games as I can, though I'm a bit more flexible than I am with manga
Wario Land (favorite overall series)
Legend of Zelda (Oracle of Seasons/Ages are my favorite games of all time)
Megaman (all of them, but Zero/ZX are my favorites)
BoxBoy
Frogger (the GBA games are the best)
Pokemon (HeartGold and Arceus are the best so far)
Super Mario (3D World and Odyssey are my favorites so far)
Kirby (Forgotten Land is a strong contender against Squeak Squad as my favorite)
Advance Wars (though I'm bad at them)
Fossil Fighters (GIMME A REMAKE!!!)
Picross (I am VERY good at them)
Hamtaro (Ham-Ham Heartbreak is SO GOOD)
Shovel Knight (I honestly think that they are the best action platformers ever made and I'd buy a full game for each Knight into infinity if given the opportunity, but gun to my head I'd say Specter Knight was my favorite)
Medabots (I would kill to be able to play the whole series, I've been informed that the one game I've gotten to play is widely considered the worst, so the rest must be pretty damn good for me)
Shadow of the Colossus (wish I could forget it to play from scratch)
Persona (still like 3 best)
Radiant Historia
I don't watch a lot of shows anymore, but...
Baccano (THE anime of all time in my opinion)
Eden of the East (the SECOND anime of all time)
Epithet Erased (I show it to everyone if I can)
Pushing Daisies (I don't know if I necessarily want a season 3 at this point since its been over a decade, but I'd sure appreciate like...a continuation comic or something)
The entire DCAU (except the Zeta Project cus I've never gotten to see it and I'm not paying for it on Amazon, and also excluding the two tie-in movies from the last few years cus they were both bad; for good measure, I'm including Teen Titans here even though it's not actually DCAU)
Digimon (unpopular opinion but I'm partial to Frontier)
Tiger and Bunny (season 1, at least)
Also, you didn't ask, but I'm already dedicating time to this, so I'll throw in a few other media too
Movies:
Die Hard (1 and 3 specifically, still haven't seen 5)
Repo! the Genetic Opera (this movie defined my life for a long time in a way that no other film has and is the only one to ever prompt me to write fanfiction)
Everything Everywhere All at Once
Knives Out
Godzilla (the whole series, though Vs. Gigan is my personal favorite)
Prince of Egypt
My Cousin Vinny
Baby Driver
Clue
Nightmare Before Christmas (watch it every year if I can)
Devil's Carnival (same creators as Repo and those songs are pretty much all bangers)
Edge of Tomorrow (though I still think All You Need is Kill is better)
Kingsman (only the first one, and the second one nearly knocked it off this list entirely)
Grosse Pointe Blank
Disaster Artist
One Cut of the Dead
Snake Eyes (this one is admittedly Homestuck's fault)
Jumper
Music:
Citizen Soldier (pairs well with Undead Unluck)
Five Finger Death Punch
10 Years
Celldweller
Rise Against (pairs well with One Piece)
Three Days Grace (both Adam Gontier and Matt Walst)
Disturbed
Nickelback (sue me; also pairs surprisingly well with Rave Master)
Blacktop Mojo
Slipknot (pairs well with Chainsaw Man and Fire Punch)
Avenged Sevenfold
Red
Bullet for My Valentine (pairs well with Jujutsu Kaisen if you'd believe it)
Sabaton (pairs well with Golden Kamuy)
Rammstein
Blue Stahli
Les Friction
Otherwise
Shaman's Harvest
Otherwise (pairs well with Hinomaru Zumou)
System of a Down
Breaking Benjamin
I probably missed a ton of things all over the place here, but these are the ones that stick out in my mind as important to share, either because I currently enjoy them or because they were a part of my formative years and stuck with me long enough that they still influence me
There's probably a lot of nostalgic things that I just haven't thought of in a long time, like...Flint the Time Detective or Zatch Bell that I would add on if I remembered them well enough to be able to hold a conversation about, but I don't, so I won't

Other than eo and 7th dragon what other series have you written for?
Other series I've written oneshots/drabbles for are:
Bleach (oneshots/drabbles of Ukitake and an unfortunately unfinished novel)Hetalia (a few Australia centred oneshots and novel Bloody Mary)Tales of Vesperia (pointless and humorous oneshots of Yuri/Flynn)Cross Edge (a lot of oneshots centred around Lyner)Kingdom Hearts (two oneshots - Leon/Cloud)Trinity Universe (Two oneshots of Kanata and Recit)Fossil Fighters Champions (one oneshot - friendship)Pokémon - Black/white, XY, gold/silver, platinum/diamond/pearl (a few oneshots with a 2-shot and a 3-chap fic)
Best place to check them out is at wattpad
Etrian Odyssey is really the only series that I've written and completed full-length novels for. For everything else, it's either short drabbles, oneshots, or 2 to 3 chapters in length ^^

Meeting my Fossil Fighters Characters
Since I’m still relatively new to posting here I wanted to take the opportunity to showcase some of the characters from my Fossil Fighters story I’ve made illustrations of over the years. Hope you enjoy 🙏
Alex Agamemnon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alex comes from the middle of nowhere, a small town deep in the mountains, but his passion for Fossil Fighting still shines through. A lot of that passion comes from a history with the sport that’s rooted in his family, though Alex still never imagined he’d ever get a chance to pursue those dreams of his. Where he stands now, he may be an inexperienced rookie, shy and unsure of himself, having to deal with being away from home, but he always keeps moving forward in the hopes that he’ll make his family proud someday.
Speaking of family, Alex has a kid sister, Louise, and a dog, Luke. Since none of them are familiar with traveling, I’d like to imagine that they’d be pretty amazed with seeing the ocean for the first time.
Alex, like his mentor, enjoys using air types. It’s made all the more passionate through his first Vivosaur partner: Via
Amber Koulourakia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By far my favorite character, Amber is simply here for the fun of it. Growing up in a town very popular with Fossil Fighters docking in from overseas, she always felt incredibly stuck in her life. It’s like her dreams were right at her doorstep, but she could never make it to where she wanted to go. Now that she’s actually made it to Arkeos Island, her new biggest challenge won’t be her lack of battling experience, but her lack of social skills…
Amber’s birthday falls on St Patrick’s Day, so whenever it comes up I try to go all out. This illustration is a couple of years old, but is still one of my favorites of anything I’ve made. (Also unfortunately her hair in all of this old art is a bit outdated, but I haven’t made anything with the updated “curly hair” design she has)
In terms of vivosaurs, Amber has a soaring soft spot for sauropods. I’d imagine her closest partner she’s eventually find definitely being Seismo (one of my personal favorites).
Kris Robin and Tyrus Therapo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I put Kris and Tyrus together for now because they’re have many similarities to them when first getting to know them. Both of them are perfectionists in their Fossil Battling, and are the two strongest members of their Fossil Battling team. Founded and led by Tyrus, based in Bockland Fossil Park (located in a European area of the world) The Bockland Monarchs have cemented themselves as the world’s premiere team to beat thanks to Tyrus’s incredible unbeaten streak. As he began growing his team, he discovered Kris and quickly took her under his wing. Together, they hope to cement the Monarchs’ reputation as legendary.
Kris almost exclusively uses neutral vivosaurs. Tyrus will take an entirely competitive approach, not caring about theming or gimmicks, just efficiency. He also has a vivosaur form I’ve designed, though he wouldn’t have a realistic way to obtaining or using it for himself.
Rhia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rhia the albino Dinaurian is such an enigma, she truly deserves her own full post to try and explain the bulk of her history. In terms of art, though, she’s also my oldest character by a large margin, and as a result has a good amount of illustrations and fanart to choose from. This piece from her birthday 2022 is still my favorite, though.
Rhia also has a vivosaur form, but like Tyrus would have no realistic way of achieving it for herself. Just another thing I wanted to design for her, though I do have some ideas of how she might come about obtaining the tech.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed🙏 have a good night

Tumblr media
Round Two has officially begun! Here is our updated bracket, and as before, Group One will be going up at the same time as this post. This round will be run in more or less the same way as the previous one, with a group posted each day and a losers' bracket after all groups are complete.
What will happen with the winners of each round's losers' bracket, you may be asking? Will those results affect anything down the line? Well...we'll just have to find out, won't we? :)
Anyway, our Round Two matchups are:

Jake (Dog's Life) vs. Sam (Sam and Max)
Holly (Super Lesbian Animal RPG) vs. Rex (Fallout: New Vegas)
Sumo (Detroit: Become Human) vs. Lord Arcanine (Pokémon Legends Arceus)
As before, just be nice and keep any negativity to yourself. Rest assured that all of these dogs are going to go to the park together after the competition to play and get lots of treats. I'm personally taking them there.
Best of luck to everyone!

Five must-have games for Nintendo Switch
Let's Switch it up. (Alvaro Reyes via Unsplash/)
The Nintendo Switch is admittedly a compelling gadget on its own, but unless you are into expensive paperweights you’re going to need to pick up a few games to keep that thing in your hands and off that pile of paperwork. Having Nintendo pumping out games from your favorite childhood franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong means that there isn’t a lack of great games, but it’s worth digging past the obvious to unlock the system’s full charm.
Breath of the Wild. (Amazon/)
OK, so we said it’s worth “digging past the obvious,” but frankly you can’t talk about the Nintendo Switch without bringing up the legend. You’ve probably played a Zelda game before, even if you don’t consider yourself a gamer, so you’ll find yourself interacting with familiar characters in familiar settings, But past that, this is a unique Zelda experience. Free of the guardrails of the past, you guide Link through an open world, picking up fragile weapons to fight off the goblin hordes that have besieged the land. You explore glorious, rolling landscapes in search of secrets, chickens and physics-driven puzzles. The only real knock against this game is that it is too big. If you need a strict story to guide you forward you might find yourself just giving up.
Desert island game. (Amazon/)
Yes, Nintendo Switch games have a nasty habit of being extremely cute. But we challenge you to find one kinder and more engaging than Animal Crossing. It’s up to you to build a community populated by cute talking animals on an abandoned island. You get to create tools, houses, decor, and landscapes all while gardening, fishing, and fossil hunting. Plus, you can invite your IRL friends to explore your island community by sharing a simple code.
Love is a battlefield. (Amazon/)
The Fire Emblem series is a revered staple of the strategy genre, and its last three installments remain standouts of the diverse Nintendo 3DS catalog. It’s no surprise then that Three Houses is a good reason to own a Switch. The surprise here is just how much there is to do in the game. From schooling, training, and managing your troops to mastering the deep and challenging combat, there is almost too much to do here. You’ll quickly be charmed by the cast of characters and looking forward to stumbling over an ally’s missing journal, or jewelry so you can return it, win their favor, and then invite them to a tea party (seriously).
It’s a me, Mario! (Amazon/)
It’s easy to be jaded when it comes to Mario games. It’s not that most of them aren’t decent—it’s just that if your reference point is an installment from the NES or SNES, it’s hard to imagine how to improve on the tried and true formula. Super Mario Odyssey will smack that jadedness right out of you with a compelling mix of gameplay formulas that only occasionally break the Mario mold. Yes, you still can stomp goombas, travel down sewer pipes, and battle Bowser, but with 3D worlds that you can roam freely. Thanks to your symbiotic, mind-controlling cap you’ll soon be doing things you never dreamt you’d see in a Mario game, like, say, romping through brick walls as a towering T.Rex, or becoming a chain-chomp. At times you’ll flatten into the 2D world for typical gameplay and then burst right back into the fully rendered world replete with platforming, puzzles, and riddles.
Get smashed! (Amazon/)
The chaotic, irreverent, and strangely addicting Super Smash Bros. throws iconic video game characters into living arenas full of traps, tricks, and perils. Ever wonder who would win in a fight between Pikachu and Megaman? This may not be the only way to find out, but it’s got to be the most fun. Battle with more than eight players at once with a staggering roster of fighters and arenas that includes every single one featured in the series’ past as well as a heap of new content. You can very well enjoy Super Smash Bros. without ever actually understanding what’s going on, thanks to sharp animations and cheeky comedy, or you could master the game and join the growing competitive Smash Bros. community.

You can very well enjoy Super Smash Bros. without ever actually understanding what’s going on, thanks to sharp animations and cheeky comedy, or you could master the game and join the growing competitive Smash Bros. community.

On this unfortunate winter star, the one that just so happened to catch my eye, I can only wish that next year will be different somehow.
I wish everyone the best with the start of a brand new year

I’ve been posting on other online platforms about Fossil Fighters for a long time now, and most who are familiar with what I share know that a lot of my content has a heavy focus on original vivosaur ideas. With these vivosaurs I come up with, as well as the stats I create to go with them, I notice that there are often people questioning whether what I come up with would be balanced or not from a gameplay standpoint.
Tumblr media
As I’ve gone on with developing this unique vision for my vivosaurs, I’ve also slowly refined my idea of Fossil Battles entirely. All of us are aware that both the original Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters Champions don’t have the best balancing in the world. There are certain cast members and even a few core game mechanics that allow so many otherwise memorable characters to fall to the wayside, and with the stats I was coming up with I was only further encouraging that type of hostile environment. The more I worried about whether something I was coming up with would feel realistic or balanced the more I considered the fact that the formula itself may have been broken in the first place.
There have been others in the community that have projected their own ideas of how to change things up regarding gameplay, things like adding new elements or even having customizable skills. Because the series felt like it had ended so suddenly there's become so much to dream for in a potential sequel. These are the people that inspired me to attempt something similar myself back when I was making my vivosaur last year. It inspired me to take a step back with my thinking and ultimately led to me creating a total re-imagining of the classic battle system we all know and love.
That's the thing, the games may not be perfectly balanced, but I always find how these games work to be something that's just inherently fun in a very unique way. Above everything else, with this project I wanted the new system I was creating to still have the "feel" of having a good old-fashioned Fossil Battle. These games have incredible potential for an interesting competitive landscape, just if only some of those unbalanced mechanics were to be adjusted. This is what I strive to achieve the most with my ideas: an environment where every vivosaur has something practical to them, a format where you CAN win using your favorite vivosaurs. The only thing that should stop you is how well thought-out and unique of a strategy you can come up with.
Fossil Fighters Odyssey is a personal project of mine that I've technically been working on for over half a decade now. Still, I think it's most important to stress the fact that everything I come up with and will be talking about in this post is for fun. This shouldn't explicitly be seen as a vehicle for a potential fan game, I make these things for my own enjoyment and have no plans or obligations to turn any of these ideas into tangible content in the future. We all can pretty unanimously agree that it’s fun to dream about a theoretical continuation of this franchise, especially because of how it felt like it came to such an abrupt halt in a way none of us were really ready for. This project is simply meant to represent the changes I'd most want to see if that were to ever somehow happen, and that vision of mine simply might not appeal to your individual preferences.

But now moving to the fun stuff itself. I strive to be as in-depth as possible when taking into account how I would rework the gameplay, taking a comprehensive look at the entire series. To keep things feeling familiar while also feeling like an "evolution" of sorts, I found it most compelling to try and utilize standout mechanics from all three of the previous games. Yes, that includes Frontier because, while I can't defend its battle system as a whole, I do think there are some features it introduced that can really enhance potential team building and strategy (mainly referring to the boost system it uses).
Since there are far too many changes to cover in a text post, I created a PowerPoint to explain everything in a more presentable and organized way. The link to it can be found directly below this paragraph, with the presentation being separated in order of different areas of discussion, from how vivosaurs have changed to the differences in the battle system to new and altered abilities and so much more! Plus, attached to this post are the stat sheets for every single vivosaur, #1-300. My own vivosaurs as well as the 10 unique vivosaurs from Frontier are included in the lineup, and all the vivosaurs you're already familiar with have received numerous changes and enhancements to their skill sets so that they can thrive in this new Fossil Battling format.

(Disclaimer: not all of the vivosaurs have artwork to correspond with their dino medals, but those will be hopefully trickling out down the line in the future.)
To round things out, I definitely want to thank the people that have already been supporting me and the things I create these past few years elsewhere. Without the level of the recognition and approval I see from the people who always respond to what I make, I definitely never would've come this far with developing my ideas. You guys are the ones who've been enjoying these things, from vivosaurs to characters to the overarching story I hope to one day be able to share with you all. I owe it to you for allowing myself to become as invested in my favorite series as I now am. And hey, depending on how people react to what I have here I may make another post outlining the more creative story and character elements I have in mind…
Thank you to everyone who's been there for all this time, as well as anyone willing to read through everything I've been able to put together here, this project never could've been completed without you all for me to share it with.

Hey just wanted to say that this while Odyssey thing looks Really REALLY cool!!! Forgive me if it's already stated elsewhere, but how do you plan on releasing it when its done?? Like is it gonna be an emulator thing or more of a standalone type of thing?? Also I Love the character designs you've been putting out, and I think I followed you a while back just for those lol. Anyway keep up the good work and consider me excited!!
Thank you for reaching out, you’re very kind! In terms of the things I’ve been posting, everything that I make is simply for fun. I just enjoy getting to share all the things I come up with, and it motivates me to make what I share feel that much more interesting.
I don’t have any experience with game design, and I don’t have plans to develop anything I come up with to be part of an actual fan-game. I like creating vivosaurs, giving them stats, and imagining what tweaks I’d make to how a Fossil Battle works, but I feel like I’d be in over my head if I were to try and program any of those things. It simple doesn’t interest me enough, and I’m nowhere near experienced enough 😅
However, very big big however, my biggest passion with Fossil Fighters is its story and its world, and that’s what I want to work on with what I create. I study filmmaking in school and want to go into some kind of career as a creative writer, and my biggest personal project is Fossil Fighters Ofyssey, my own idea of where the story of the first 2 games would go from where they left off, 9 whole years later. Since I finished developing my cast of original characters and vivosaurs, I’ve been trying to shift gears to thinking of the story I want to tell using them. I’ve worked out outlines and currently am working on writing finalized scripts (some of them I’ll probably post here), the dream would be to someday illustrate my story in a manga/graphic novel format, but again I don’t wanna go further into video game territory.
I apologize for the really long-winded response, this is just my biggest personal passion and I’m really appreciative that there are people who enjoy seeing what I share enough to ask me these kinds of questions. Thanks for hearing me out on all of this, I wish you the best as well! 🙏
