Arash Sadeghi Has Been Released
Tumblr media
Arash Sadeghi is one of the most respectable Iranian activists. He has been arrested multiple times since 2009 for his activism. He was arrested recently in October 14, 2022 and finally, after months of being tortured, he has been released.
Arash has been diagnosed with a bone tumor and while in jail, he wasn’t getting the necessary treatment.
I can’t tell you how happy the Iranian community is that Arash has been finally released. All political prisoners must be released!

Russians demand the return of Navalny's body to his mother, Lyudmila Navalnya.
The whole world can see the obscene criminality and utter inhumanity of Putin and his terrorist infrastructure. What's worse than the poisoning, arbitrary imprisonment, medical torture, and murder of an innocent man is the cover-up. The blatant lying, the withholding of even the most basic dignity in death, and the prolonged emotional abuse of a grieving family.
Worse, this is only one example of such criminality. As I write, numerous others are shut behind bars in Russian prisons, controlled by those far more criminal who openly take orders not from the law, but from the terrorists in the Kremlin. Vladimir Kara-Murza is still in prison. Ilya Yashin in still in prison. The Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich is still in prison. Liliya Chanysheva is still in prison.
And so on.
ОТДАЙТЕ ТЕЛО АЛЕКCЕЯ НАВАЛЬНОГО!
RETURN ALEXEI NAVALNY'S BODY!

You cannot be for the opposing side and their actions and "values" in the least if you actually risk your freedom and safety to protest against them.
The bravery of people who stand alone and face the regime, nothing in their hands but a sign
Russia is not monolithic, no matter how much the regime tells you they're "united"
The people who support the regime have 100% freedom to say what they say.
Those who oppose it are of course afraid to speak.
But some still do anyway. Even after all the examples they have of protesters arrested, harsh sentences. Horror stories of what happens to some.
Some people in Russia are still free. The freedom in their hearts won't be crushed, even if their physical freedom is taken away.
If freedom still burns in one heart, there is hope, because it can ignite thr freedom in others' hearts and eventually spread like wildfire.

okay, if you have ever made or reblogged a “hold your nose and vote for biden” post, this is for you.
here’s the fucking thing about these kinds of posts. i've been seeing them since i first returned to tumblr in, I think, late 2022? they've certainly increased in frequency since october 7, but they were there before too, ready to counter any kind of opposition to biden that has cropped up. many of them are not just trying to educate people about what positive things biden has done, which, like, at least I can understand the motivation behind those ones? but so many of them are directly in response to people criticizing biden, and their only real point is “sure you’re upset at this thing biden did, but have you considered the election?” starting YEARS before the next presidential election, mind you.
and october 7 only made that clearer. i don’t think it had been a week before i saw these posts cropping up. can you not see how fucking ghoulish that is? to look at the rightful pain and anger of those whose relatives and communities are being slaughtered with active american support, to respond to one of the few pieces of agency most americans have in influencing what their governments do – their vote – by saying “yes but trump would be worse.” as if the primary people you’re lecturing – palestinians, muslims, arabs, black people, indigenous people, disabled people, other marginalized people – don’t remember exactly how bad it was under trump!
and even if you think not voting is an empty gesture – something i, who studied political science at a mainstream american lib college, who has worked as a field organizer on a previous democratic presidential campaign and for several policy campaigns, who currently works in public policy in america, used to believe, but have absolutely changed my mind on – what is in no way an empty gesture is saying publicly that you will not vote for someone. the arguments people usually have about why simply not voting is bad are that you can’t tell why someone is not voting, so it is as likely to be apathy or disenfranchisement as it is a political statement. but saying publicly that you will not vote for someone, and why you will not vote for them, absolutely is a political statement, and potentially a powerful one! but you choose to negate and/or ignore that by trotting out the “lesser of two evils” bullshit.
and then there’s the whole “yes but people will DIE under trump”. PEOPLE ARE DYING NOW. even if you’re fucking racist and have decided that palestinian lives don’t count, have you forgotten biden’s ongoing covid minimalism and dismantling of the CDC’s covid research and prevention infrastructure? have you forgotten his increase in spending for law enforcement scant years after the murder of george floyd and his administration's surveillance of protesters, including cop city protesters? have you forgotten his recent ramp-up in deportations of undocumented immigrants, including the active continuation of many trump-era policies?
maybe you have forgotten all those things and do purport to care about palestinians, but you just think that biden is doing his best to influence netanyahu and is getting nowhere! but then you must have forgotten all of the things that biden and his administration themselves have done to further this fucking genocide, including:
continuing to send arms to israel
putting together a military task force within days of yemen’s red sea blockade and attacking yemeni ships
bombing yemen
bombing syria
bombing iraq
vetoing three ceasefire resolutions at the united nations
testifying to defend israel and its genocide and occupation at the international court of justice
refusing to rescue palestinian-americans stuck in gaza
halting funding to the united nations relief and works agency for palestinian refugees (UNRWA) based on israeli claims that 12 of UNRWA’s over 30,000 staff were hamas agents, even though u.s. intelligence has not been able to independently verify this
lying that he’s personally seen photos of babies beheaded by hamas when he hadn’t because they didn’t exist (and even when his own staff cautioned him that reports of beheaded babies may not be credible)
questioning the number of palestinian deaths reported by the gaza ministry of health (when even israel has not questioned them, since they are in fact proud of those numbers)
perpetuating lies about hamas having committed the attack on al-aqsa hospital
questioning united nations reports of adults and children raped by israeli soldiers while claiming to have proof (that no one else has seen) of hamas doing the same
honestly so many more things that i can’t remember them all but others feel free to add
or maybe you haven’t forgotten any of that, and think that you’re still justified in lecturing people about why they should vote for biden, because you genuinely believe trump would still be worse. if that is the case, you have still failed to see that by saying you will vote for biden no matter what, you are part of the problem of biden continuing to act like this. because biden is counting on fear of trump to win him this next election no matter what else he does. despite his appalling polling numbers, despite the knowledge that he is losing the palestinian-american vote, the arab-american vote, the muslim-american vote, the black american vote, the youth vote – despite all of that, he is secure in the idea that he will still win because he is better than trump. can you not see how that allows him to act without impunity? how it becomes increasingly impossible for his base to influence what he’s doing if he thinks that they will be with him no matter what? this is how you make yourself complicit to biden’s actions, by not affording anyone even the slightest power to hold him accountable for anything.
and in most cases, the “hold your nose and vote for biden” thing is the response of people who aren’t even being instructed by others not to vote for biden. it is their response to people saying they themselves are choosing not to vote for biden. fucking ghoulish.

Palestinian coed tortured during her period, just for joining a Leftist student org.
From the Israeli Newspaper Haaretz
Mays Abu Ghosh, who I featured here before, because of her brutal and humiliating torture of being tied in the banana position, while on her menstrual period, and denied menstrual products and underwear. Endured all that torture on the flimsiest of pretenses, even according to the Israeli media.
Tumblr media
"Now Mays is in prison and, according to her lawyers and other sources, she has been tortured during her interrogations. The five counts of the indictment against her sound serious and terrifying, but are for the most part revealed as ridiculous when the details are known.
The “unlawful association” that Mays, a fourth-year student in the media department at Bir Zeit University, is accused of belonging to is the left-wing students’ organization, Qutub. Israeli authorities claim that Qutub is affiliated with the outlawed Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, but the student group denies any such connection."
In this article attacking the "Palestine Writes” literary festival at the University of Pennsylvania, she is the 1st "dangerous terrorist" listed, all because she was convicted in an Israeli kangaroo court, even by the standards of the Israeli media, simply for belonging to a leftist student organization. They focus media attention on the Islamists, but this is how leftists and socialists are treated. Intentionally exasperating our natural menstrual pains to intensify our torture is such a depraved level of hatred of women, down to our very biology. And then after all they did to her, they make it as if she victimized Israel.
Tumblr media
This is how Mays was tied for 3 days, without sleep, while on her menstrual period, denied tampons or underwear. This is the infamous banana stress position.
“The most severe thing was three days in a row without being allowed to sleep,” Mays, 23, said. “I had to stay in a chair and if I closed my eyes, a soldier would come over and shout at me. I was slapped in the face continuously.”
Mays was forced to stand and bend her knees, with soldiers pressing hard on her shoulders. She had to remain in such painful positions for long stretches of time.

Saman Yasin after weeks of being subjected to severe and inhumane torture tried to commit suicide. His father has confirmed that he is doing better.
He is not the only political prisoner who has attempted suicide and will not be the last. Others have committed suicide after being released. They are being tortured both physically and psychologically. The human body can only take so much before it breaks. We have to fight for them, be their voice and be the strength they can draw on. Let’s not forget them.
Be Saman’s voice.

(CNN) A Russian court on Monday scheduled Brittney Griner's trial to start Friday, according to her lawyer, and ruled the WNBA star's detention be extended six months pending its outcome.
Griner -- who has been held in Russia since her arrest at a Moscow airport on allegations of attempted drug smuggling -- attended the preliminary hearing in person Monday, arriving at court handcuffed and flanked by guards in black vests, according to a photo by AFP photographer Kirill Kudryavstev.

“There has always been a surplus of servitude and a deficit of freedom in Russia. We value those who grovel, which is why Russia remains a ‘nation of slaves and princes’ to this day. Russia has a great number of people of talent, yet they lack the possibility to apply their talents. I think that progress in Russia is inextricably linked with personal freedom, which is the key to success.”
The words of Boris Nemtsov, one of Russia's most talented, honest, and bravest politicians.
It was in this month nine years ago that Nemtsov was gunned down in front of the Kremlin. The murderers were able to escape thanks to the CCTV being deliberately turned off for the several minutes when the attackers descended from their vehicle and shot Nemtsov repeatedly.
As with the murderers of so many other Russian dissidents, the Russian state has refused to hold the murderers accountable. That is because, as usual, the murderer was Vladimir Putin.
Nemtsov worked alongside Alexei Navalny in the early 2010s. In February 2015, Alexei Navalny was in prison based on fabricated charges. When he learned that Nemtsov was murdered, he quickly identified the culprits: the Kremlin. As a testament to the cruelty and inhumanity of Russia's state authorities, Navalny was forbidden from attending Nemtsov's funeral, though he did later attend a memorial march for the fallen Russian politician.
One month after Nemtsov's murder, his friend Vladimir Kara-Murza suddenly fell ill and almost died. In 2017, the same thing. Kara-Murza is now in prison for condemning Russian war crimes in Ukraine. Russian entrepreneur Yevgeny Chichvarkin warns the world via Dmitri Gordon's YouTube channel that Kara-Murza is next on Putin's list.
Five years after Nemtsov's murder, Alexei Navalny fell ill and almost died of poisoning, which later turned out to have been with the banned chemical agent, Novichok. Further investigation showed that the same FSB agents who had masterminded the attack on Navalny had also used Novichok on Vladimir Kara-Murza, the writer Dmitri Bykov, and other Russians who suddenly died without explanation.
Now, nine years after Nemtsov's murder, Alexei Navalny has been killed by the same terrorist regime that gunned down Nemtsov that night in February.
This is intolerable. This is heartbreaking. This is devastating. This must never happen again.
DOWN WITH PUTIN!
DOWN WITH RUSSIAN TERRORISM!
FREE RUSSIA FROM TERRORISM!
JUSTICE FOR NAVALNY!
JUSTICE FOR NEMTSOV AND SO MANY OTHERS!
