but just for u gabby, here's a ghost story (or just a spooky microfic...)

The four of them settle around the fire, the warm glow just barely illuminating all of their faces. Sirius crowds into Remus' space, and Regulus hold's James' hand in his lap, playing with his fingers.

He wasn't sure about coming on this camping trip when James had first suggested it to him, but he can admit now it hasn't been too terrible. Turns out setting up tents or hunting for proper firewood isn't too terrible with James around.

They'd just eaten s'mores, and it's now time for spooky stories--something James seems far too excited about.

"Pads, hand me the flashlight, I want to go first."

"Why should you go first? Maybe I have the story of a lifetime!"

"Do you, Sirius?" Regulus taunts.

"No...but that's not the point!"

"Then give James the flashlight!"

Sirius grumbles his agreement and tosses it over to James. He catches it with his one available hand and flicks the switch, illuminating the area in front of him. Turning it to face himself, James holds the flashlight just under his chin, giving his face an unsettling look.

He looks over at Regulus and grins, and it's then that Regulus is aware that whatever James is about to say, he isn't going to like it one bit.

"Alright, this is going to be short and sweet. And I don't even have to make anything up....it's a dream I had the other night. Very scary."

Regulus isn't sure where this is going, and he trades a look with Remus who looks equally as confused. He looks back at James, and is met with an eerily deadpan stare. It looks unnatural on him.

"Once upon a time, on an unassuming Wednesday night, I had a dream. Well, more of a nightmare really." He pauses, presumably for dramatic effect. Regulus can see the beginnings of a grin threatening to take over James' face.

After a long moment, James finally says, "I got married to Lily."

Regulus has never screamed louder in his entire life.
