The Meaning of the Schwanenritter
I love the naming here, because there are a multitude of meanings. The first, most obvious meaning, is "swan knights", alluding to the Germanic fairy tale about about a knight who rides in a swan-drawn boat and assists a damsel in distress, provided that she does not ask him his name. This is the meaning that the wiki goes with.
However, there’s a more fitting second meaning. See, the German word for swan is schwan, not schwanen. The plural would be schwäne, though schwanen is an archaic form.
Schwanen is a verb, meaning "to dread". Though the origin is uncertain, it is connected to the old Germanic association of swans with fate and the Norns. There's a synonymous expression in German “Schwansfedern haben/tragen„ directly translating to "to wear swan's feathers" and meaning “to dread”.
We can even see the connection between fate and swans in English, with the phrase "to sing one's swan song", a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent for most of their lifetime.
I think this connection seems fitting for our Khaenri’ahn knights who piloted the ruin golems in a last-ditch effort to combat the cataclysm. It was a final attempt, a dying song, of a godless nation who, though traditionally pitted against against nations ruled by archons, still felt a kinship and responsibility to their fellow men.

Delusional thought: Khaenri’ah is said to be VERY deep underground (so deep that from the gates in Sumeru you still need to go down I think to reach it), sO
Option 1: there are 7 doors on the way to Khaenri’ah and we will slowly descend and open each one with the help of remaining singular oculi we collect in Teyvat bc the Seven were there for a reason and their powers can probably be used for containment purposes
Or
Option 2: there are 9 doors separating 9 circles/areas from each other in Khaenri’ah with the central area being the lowest point&the heart of the kingdom, because Khaenri’ah is deep and underground and abandon hope, all ye who enter here-

Quick theory about Dainseif or however you spell his name.
The destruction of Khaenri'ah happened 500 years ago. The traveler along with their sibling are 500 years old also. The sibling was partners with Dainsleif, but the sibling also wished to overthrow celestia, perhaps in the goal of making teyvat a world without the rulership of gods. Naturally, you’d think that this goal would rub off onto Dainsleif too, making it a joined ambition.
Now think back to how the whole destruction of Khaenri’ah happened; there was a doctor/experimenter who’s experiment turned the people of the city into monsters. This angered Celestia, causing the gods to go to war with Khaenri’ah.
From the reaction of what the sibling had when they saw the ruins of the city, it’s safe to say that they were fond of the place. Dainsleif had a curse cast upon him around the same time, but after many years later, he sees the sibling after partnering with the traveler.
The sibling isn’t happy with Dainsleif, furious even. “He’s a bad man.” Is what they say.
So, putting this all together: The sibling and Dainsleif were travel partners, they both might have shared similar ambitions, Khaenri’ah had a doctor that caused the ruin of the place, Dainsleif did something so bad that he had the curse of suffering for an eternity placed upon him, the sibling is hostile towards him, also his clothes resemble that of the abyss.
My theory is that Dainsleif was the doctor who caused the destruction of Khaenri’ah. Idk it’s been a while since I last saw him, so I don’t remember his exact explanation for most things.

Thinking about the KaeyaJeanDiluc friendship where they grew up together and they were CLOSE & sure maybe Jean felt like Diluc & Kaeya were closer since they were brothers & sure maybe Kaeya felt like he had to keep secrets from the two of them bc they would never understand but they were like. A trio! A team!
& then Diluc’s 18th birthday comes around and everything goes to shit and Diluc LEAVES so they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc but just Kaeya & Jean & in some ways Kaeya and Jean get closer because of it but there’s also a pronounced DISTANCE where Jean doesn’t know how to reach Kaeya anymore & Kaeya is even more determined not to tell Jean anything & they both lose themselves in their duties to Mondstadt while also missing Diluc and ALSO, despite everything, offering each other unconditional support
& then Diluc comes BACK & in addition to Kaeya & Jean there’s the shaky reestablishment of Jean & Diluc and Diluc & Kaeya but it’s not THE SAME. they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc; Jean & Kaeya are knights and Diluc will never be a knight again & they all changed while Diluc was away & none of them know how to talk to each other anymore AND YET there’s still an undercurrent of trust!! Not fully, especially between Kaeya & Diluc, but Diluc still calls on Jean during the archon quest, trusting that she will keep their secrets even though as the acting grandmaster she should probably not. Jean says in her about Diluc voiceline that she understands why Diluc hates the knights & is working hard to make them an organization he can trust again. Kaeya covers for Diluc’s darknight hero escapades & fondly reminisces about their childhood in front of him. Diluc invited Kaeya to dinner at the winery & (afaik) never told anyone about Kaeya’s origins. Kaeya tells the traveler that they need to give Jean their full support and planned a birthday party for her. Jean left Kaeya in charge of Mondstadt when she went to the golden apple archipelago! On some level they recognize that their goals still align!! There’s still trust and love there but there’s also this gap between them that none of them know how to cross and I just!!!

Imagine back then people actually fighting for theirs live to love in Khaenri’ah because it was one of the most technologically advanced nation at that time
Imagine back then people actually went to study there
Imagine people paying a large sum of money to take a vacation there
I think Rhinedottir still remembers her home back then.
Now all they talked about are monsters and dark secrets. No one remembered that in the middle of the town square in the city of Khaenri’ah, people were laughing and living their honest lives

Ok but like real quick
If Aether/Lumine are the prince(ss) of Khaenri’ah, to son/daughter or at least descendants to Irmin, then why are their pupils circular?
I’m aware ideas and concept for stories as long as Genshin’s will change over time, but still.
If there’s one person to have the signature mark of Khaenri’ah, it may as well be the royal heirs, right?
That and they don’t follow one of the descriptors of Khaenri’ahn?
Pale Princess & the 6 Pygmies (it’s about the Abyss Order) describe a Moonlight Forest whose denizens have fair skin, pale/light colored hair & blue eyes. If we’re using that as a descriptor for Khaenri’ah then they don’t really follow all of those; Again, if one were to follow the standard of Khaenri’ah, then would it not be the royals of Khaenri’ah?
(Though again, Chlothar has black hair, but otherwise every other Khaenri’ahn we’ve met has had blue eyes, including Kaeya, who only has blue star eyes to indicate he’s a Khaenri’ahn at all.)
Edit: a bit more in the comments!

Thinking about the one-eyed King Irmin mentioned in Hidden Strife.
The writings are as follows: "Remember always that it was the Alberich Clan, who did not have royal blood, who stepped in as regents when the strength of the one-eyed king Irmin failed."
"Though we could not restore Khaenri'ah to life, we of the Alberich Clan should lead lives as those who blaze like fire, rather than those who wallow in the embers
"I saved this one memento from the fire 'Father' made while he wasn't paying attention. This was in violation of our principles. Our clan's affairs should never be recorded.
"Now that I look at it, his handwriting was as grieving as a smoking ash pile. There is no way that I can write something like that, living in Mondstadt as I am."
Irmin is mentioned, in volume 6 of Legend of the Divine Halberds (which you should read if you want to understand my theory)
The first Divine Halberd, Irmin, once pierced the Axis Mundi and connected the nine worlds. Now, its replicas had proliferated across the heavens.
Several of the replicas are spoken of. One of the aforementioned replicas, probably named after the fire god Loki’s weapon, Lævateinn, is further associated with fire.
But unbeknownst to him, this was the greatest cursed sword of all, that had once burned the entire world to cinders: Laevatain. If the fire-realm runes constituted the mystery of the fire realm, Laevatain was its pure unadulterated, unquenchable reality.
The sword had extinguished after the world was burned, but having assimilated the rune of the fire realm, it burned bright once more.
Another of the replicas:
"This is the Sword of Flame, the 'Katakugosha.' It was made from the shard of the Divine Halberd that was the Dharani of the fire realm. Sorry... in language that your Majesty would understand, it's made with the runes of the fire realm, one of the God King's nine realms."
The books also the motifs of blindness of one eye, a father who is not the real father, and the world burning.
As you are aware, a halberd is really a type of polearm, so I am surprised that these nine replicas of the Divine Halberd would be swords. There’s a chance they’re all just weapons, and that that term is used very broadly. I have a theory that Lævateinn/Laevatain is actually the Staff of Homa. Or that the Staff of Homa is one of the replicas.
In real life, Loki, a deity associated with fire, crafts the weapon. It’s unclear what exactly it is; its name means “wounding wand”, “wounding staff”, or “wand of destruction”, but it has also been called a sword, a javelin, and a sure-striking arrow. It is the only weapon capable of harming Víðópnir, the bird (sometimes a rooster, sometimes a falcon) that sits atop the world tree Yggdrasil/Mímameiðr. That’s the same tree as the German “Irminsul” and may represent Celestia, and Venessa who ascended as a falcon to Celestia.
Historically it is attested in the poem Fjölsvinnsmál as such;
"Lævatein is there, that Lopt [Loki] with runes
Once made by the doors of death;
In Lægjarn[Loki]'s chest by Sinmora lies it,
And nine locks fasten it firm"
Sounds familiar, right? The Staff of Homa is described as such in-game.
A "firewood staff" that was once used in ancient and long-lost rituals.
And this is part of its lore. I would encourage you to read the whole thing, if you want to understand.
Though these rites have been forgotten over time and with the coming of peace,
Those with fire in their hearts can still hear these whispered words from flickering flames when they find themselves faced with an imposing darkness:
"Only an unbound flame can purify this world."
