George Clinton: The Rhythm of Vision One of the best things I like to do is just randomly go for a long walk to kill time even though people in LA hate walking (y’all call yourself wellness freaks but you ain’t!) and stumbling into art shows. Well this was a holy grail. I stumbled into one of my favorite galleries, Jeffrey Deitch, for the opening of George Clinton’s first art exhibition in Los Angeles. These guys have only one scry I like, while also being dragons I had/have high expectations for. In the case of BigMouth, I miscalculated how much the tert would connect the primary and secondary (wanted to maybe make him point, when it came out.) Soooo, stained it is.

EveningNews had to be "night sky" themed, as I'm sure you'll agree. It's a shame I have to sacrifice one gem gene for another, but this is just too perfect.

Concerning DeLaSoul (old-school groove/funk inspired rap group), I hope it's been made apparent by now that the "funky" dragons have a tendency to be eye-burners ;)

Day 25:  #mayvinylchallenge :  Sounds Good At 33 Or 45 RPM This was one of those challenges where I knew exactly what I would choose... 🔺️ Funkadelic - Let's Take It To The Stage b/w Biological Speculation [1975] "Funk used to be a bad word", George Clinton preaches at the beginning of the single version of the title track from 1975, and he and the funk mob mean it.  Talking mad shit about the funk bands of the era, including the "godfather/godmother" James Brown. Rufus (Smoofus), Earth, Wind and Fire (Earth, Hot Air and No Fire) and Slick and The Family Brick (Sly and the Family Stone), Funkadelic posed themselves as the upper echelon of Funk and their contenders as the poor runner ups.  It was incendiary...and amazing! For the B-Side, Funkadelic included the 1972 track "Biological Speculation" from the album "America Eats Its Young", and it's a lovely gem.  Espousing about God, the laws of nature and the crossing of both, "Biological Speculation" is a steel pedal funk track that stands out as one of Funkadelic's most diverse, venturing into a normally-not-ventured musical style while remaining an oddly country-funk style throughout the production.  Can y'all see my point?  Of course you can. Unfortunately, my personal 45 single of this has a crack in it.  Eventually, I shall replace it with a solid vinyl copy.  The single shortens the song, removing then B-word from the phrase "What's in the bag, b****?" with an old-school beep, and edits to the length overall is worth it enough to have the original edit as a timepiece.  And with "Biological Speculation" as a B-Side, what better pairing is this?  It's the best of two transitional periods of Funkadelic's history.
