Why I Adore MK1 Reptile (A Small Thread)

I really love and adore the fact that Reptile is having such a good life in this new timeline. For once, not 99% of his intros are people finding him repulsive, hideous, or gross...

He genuinely has a sweet and fun relationship with characters who absolutely DESPISED him in previous timelines. Clearly, being treated as an ACTUAL person really helped his psych in the long run. Some of the intro dialogues imply that some of the characters don't think Ashrah won't achieve her goal in the long run. Do you know who goes out of his way to prove that wrong? REPTILE.

He's living such a good life that he's no longer constantly groveling to people who treat him like garbage, but instead is actually helping and contributing to things in Outworld.

And the best thing about this? The intro dialogues imply that he graduates to a HIGHER status for his job.

Reptile was clearly blessed in this timeline to actually live a life he deserved, and I'm so thankful that it happened. From the very bottom of my heart...

Mk 1 men reacting to someone insulting their s/o right in front of them? Aka how to commit suicide in 12+ different ways

Reiko would not tolerate any slander to his partner and would instantly get up in the face of the person who dare insult you

He doesn't do the pleasures himself. Instead he advises you to beat them into submission while he watches with a coy smirk

Is very offended and doesn't sit idle when he hears it. He'll move past you tell them to try repeating that again

He's threatening but only in body posture and and facial expressions. If they were to throw a punch his way, he'd catch it and headbutt them

He's upset at what he hears and feels like lashing out towards the one who insulted you

Syzoth regains his composure and instead comes to your side and gives you a compliment and tells you not to listen to fools who like to bark like dogs

He laughs, maniacal and wicked. He tells them, through chocked laughter to repeat what they said

Once they do, he laughs some more before beginning to viciously beat them to death, screaming at them to never insult you again

Raises a brow and asks them to try and say that again because they must not be talking to you, his perfect partner

Trips them with his staff before spitting on them and leading you away with a caring smile

Hums a laugh, while looking them up and down. He claps his hands telling them that was a good attempt at an insult but Shang Tsung will show them real hurt

Absolutely eats them alive with his words. Tearing them apart and absolutely destroying all their confidence with just his words alone

Sneers toward the one who insulted you and walks over to them slowly. He looks up them up and down very quietly

His hand finds their neck and he squeezes tightly until they can no longer breathe before dropping them to floor

Gets up in the person's face and begins telling them to say that again and more than that while he begins to back them into a corner

He corners them and threatens them. Tomas tells them if they dare say another word, he'll have them choking on their tongue

Raiden tries to defuse the situation and is then insulted too. He doesn't mind, he simply nods his head

But then he quips back with something witty which angers them and they go to hit him but Raiden is too quick and dodges it before easily subduing them

Isn't one to stand idle after hearing someone insult you. He calls out to them, calling them an asshole before pushing them

Kung Lao begins threatening them and says if they're gonna try and be a tough guy then try to be one with him and see what happens

Absolutely furious. He can't hope to contain his rage and he's grabbing them by the collar and shoving them against the wall

He lashes out at them with his words and nearly crushes their throat but he sees you from the corner of his eye and you look scared. Bi-Han stops then, dropping them to the floor and rushing over to you before the two of you depart

Asks if he heard thar right and wraps on arm around their shoulder. He shakes his head and gives them a hardy slap on the back

Johnny offers some "friendly" advice by saying that if they dare say anything like that again, they'll have no more teeth left to talk with

Any insult given to you is an insult to him. Shao does not take kindly to insults

He doesn't say a word to them, merely crushing their head with his large hand before returning to your side as if nothing happened

Furrows his brows. He wants to get you out of that situation as quick as possible He leads you away from that person.

When the person who insulted you tries to follow, Geras is quick to freeze them in time and break their nose before continuing on his way with you

Tells them it is unwise to insult the lover of someone powerful and when they laugh in Liu Kang's face he sighs

He had hoped for a peaceful ending but it seems that not an option. He sharply kicks them straight in the gut, sending them colliding into the wall

His heart hurts knowing someone has disrespected you. Kuai Liang gets between the two of you and stares them down

Tells them if they are looking for a fight, they'll find one quickly and that it will not end well. Flames will engulf his fist as a show of power

Baraka has had many insults thrown at him but hearing one being thrown at you? He will not tolerate that

He grabs them by their shirt and begins threatening to turn them into minced meat if they dare insult you again

There's so much more you had to do, so many more conquests to be had. He's desperate and panicked, he looks wild and mad as he holds you in his arms, blood coating his hands

Kenshi is cold, freezing as he holds you and boiling crimson spills from your body. He tells you it will be alright and that help is on the way

He says this more to convince himself rather than convince you. You know the truth but he can't accept it. Tries to stop the bleeding with his hands, with anything he can find but it won't stop so he continues to fool himself into thinking you will pull through this even after you have breathed your last breath

Disbelief, shock. This can't be happening again. How could he have let this happen again? How could he have failed you?

He's begging you not to leave him. Syzoth pleads for you to stay with him and not to close your eyes no matter what. He can't lose you, he can't be alone again. He needs you, you can't leave

Almost can't believe it's happening. He laughs but it's not a typical one from him. It's empty, breaking apart

He tells you to get up, to stop playing games and fooling around. Havik begins demanding you move, you stand up but you don't, you can't and soon he is grabbing at his head and screaming. He can't process that he's losing you. This isn't supposed to happen

At a complete loss. He wants to believe what he is seeing an illusion, some nasty trick but this is reality

Believes he can save you. He just needs to use your blood to heal you but he can't no matter how hard he tries to wield it. It is not within his power to do so. Curses himself that he so weak, that he cannot save you from dying

Shang Tsung breaks. All that charm, all that wit is reduced to man who is desperate to save someone from death. It is an impossible task

He holds you, he calls to you. Shang Tsung cries over you as you bleed out in his arms. He mutters to himself that he will find a way to save you but it falls on deaf ears and soon he is thinking how can he bring you back

Devastated and begs for someone to come and save you. He pleads for help but there is none to come. He is helpless, he is powerless

Quan Chi vows to never be this powerless again. He promises to reclaim your soul and bring you back to him and never let you go again

Inconsolable. An absolute sobbing mess of a man. He apologizes over and over to you. He tells you that he hates how he couldn't protect you, how he failed you

Tomas cannot cope with the sight of you dying in his arms. Once so full of life now bleeding out and turning cold. He hates this, he wants to take your place but that is impossible. He has not the ability to change time

Tries to hold himself together and remain hopeful for you. He even tries to make a light joke about how it's just a scratch but the both of you know better

Soon he begins to cry and tell you that he's sorry. Raiden says he is not ready for you to go, that he wants more time with you. You two planned to see the world together but what was there left to see now except chilling death?

All that proud and tough guy facade he wears crumbles apart and now he pleading and desperate for you not to die. He swears and calls for help again and again but he knows there is no salvation coming

Kung Lao screams, holding you close as he curses the world and all of its gods. How could they have let you die? How could they have determined this to be your fate. He curses them again and again as blood continues to fall

All composure is gone. How could Bi-Han hope to remain steeled when the love of his life begins to die in his hands. He cries even when he tries not to

He holds you, looking at your expression as it pales. You're losing blood to quickly, he can't stop it. You're dying, you're going to die and he weeps and sobs. Bi-Han keeps you close even after your body has gone much colder than his own. He doesn't want to let you go. His brothers have to pull him away from your body

His sadness manifests through anger. He is raging, screaming and killing everything that is left in front of him. He will not rest until they are all dead

Shao will hold you but it's too late. You are gone and his hand falls and eyes close. He doesn't cry. Shao doesn't know how to shed tears but he is frozen and silent. No one dare approach him now

Although Geras knows death is a part of life, to see yours is destroying. He doesn't want it to happen, especially as he holds you close and watches you bleed out

He thinks for a moment about re-writing this moment but he knows he cannot. Geras must not be so selfish to twist time in order to bring back the most important person to him

Broken. Completely heartbroken. He had tried so hard to protect. Liu Kang had slaved over keeping you away from such a fate and even still death has found you

All he can do is hold you and look upon you as life quickly leaves you. He apologizes and tells you how this is his fault for not protecting you enough and for not keeping you safe

Kuai Liang is completely defeated. He feels as though he is doomed to lose all those who come into his life. All he cherishes seem to be taken from him

Silently cries but tries to smile as he holds your hand and tell you just how much he has loved you. He will always love you no matter what, nothing will ever stop that. When your body has become so cold, he still weeps and finally begins to sob

Never had he wanted to lose anyone else. His family, his way of life and now you too. Baraka feels as though he has been cursed by creation

Tries to stop the bleeding but he knows it is too late. Still, he tries and tells you to keep holding for just a bit longer. You do not have that time to spare and when your breath has left you, Baraka screams and wails

Liu Kang

Liu Kang was rarely ever rough with you. In fact, the only way he'd do it is if you either verbally say it's fine, or if he knows you're poking the bear just to get a reaction. And when you get a reaction...there's no going back. You've kissed with your back to the wall several times, and every time was gentle and loving and laced with care. However, if you've presented that you were that desperate for him to give you the attention you deserve, he will gladly be a little rougher in pushing you back with his lips on yours. Just be prepared for him to leave some handprints on your waist.

Reiko

Reiko is a warrior. Hardened by battle and discipline, so the way he kisses you usually starts off that way. He can't help it. Not only is it the way he was raised and what he was told a man is "supposed to be", but it also came with how his partners were to be treated. When it came to you his sense of duty and protection spiked every single time. So here you were, well within his unintentional bear hug as your back was against the wall. His kisses always started off like he was going away to war/fight (because he usually was) but he would eventually melt and become smoother because you're by his side.

Sub-Zero

Bi-Han, a truly complex character. I believe that whoever captures his heart will be the main obsession in his life. In this case, it is you. He constantly needs to be on you, around you, see you, hear you, you name it. He can't get enough of your lips and this is especially apparent the way he's almost always pushing you to the wall while kissing you. Can we blame him? He's a tall hunk of touch-starved and the only thing that will satiate that hunger is roughly making out with you every chance he gets all while still knowing how to treat you like a porcelain antique.

Havik

Havik...this guy. Even though I'm pretty sure it's not canon I still feel like he'd regenerate and degenerate for fun and for different purposes/occasions. For the sake of my sanity I can say I found him fine as hell before his face got fucked up, and so did you. But you don't mind him either way because you love his crazy ass. Allow me to set the scene: You say something snappy to get his attention and boom...he regenerates his facial wounds just to back you against the wall and shut you up with pure smugness and arrogance behind his kiss. But, this is what you wanted, nonetheless. And you'd do it again!

Johnny Cage

Who's to say Johnny Cage wouldn't try to get you in one of his films just so he could keep getting takes of him backing you to a wall and kissing you? For Elder God's sakes, he's the one who wrote the script! And of course it's something dramatic like him being a villain that captures the hero and tries to convince them to ditch their position to be with him. Dude would totally think he's Loki (did i say that bc i think it would be hot if Loki did that to me? ..don't worry about it!) He's for sure fucking up his takes on purpose and you know this, but you only pretend to be irritated and maybe even fuck up a few yourself.

Scorpion

Kuai Liang, the romantic this man is. Like Liu Kang, he's never rough with you. Except it would take a little more convincing to let him know it's fine for him to act on his feelings when he wants to. With him, his kisses are slow and gentle. They will always start off like that even if he has a hard day. All he wants is to hold you, but it's like whenever your back hits the wall a gear starts turning in his brain. The idea of you having nowhere to go and enjoying it? Not even an Elder God is pulling him from your embrace. He gets handsy and a lot more affectionate around this time; he's kissing your face, neck, and shoulders too, because why the hell not?

Geras

Geras is a special case. He's an immortal who has never experienced romantic love before. So naturally you will have to teach him some things and even point out things he has observed that can be taken as romantic love. But he's still a man who has seen a lot, so this guy knows what kissing is and how to kiss. Surely you didn't think this giant fine ass immortal being didn't know how to treat his partner? Crazy talk! Understand that when you introduce the classic wall kiss by showing him what to do, he's leaning in to kiss you as he lifts you in his arms with no effort to be found and there won't be kissing going on much longer!

Some MK1 headcanons

Multiverse (as in the characters that are your allies or you have to fight at the end, from different timelines)

I have had so many thoughts about what these guy’s timelines are like you have no idea-

-Kitana Khan and Jawspell (Kitana+General Shao and Mileena+Quan Chi fusions) are from the same timeline. Kitana overthrew her mother and she rules Outworld with an iron fist while Mileena, (who tried to use dark magic in an effort to cure herself of Tarkat) is the Royal mage and is her sister’s trusted advisor

-In Titan Kitana’s timeline, the umgadi doesn’t exist. Her version of Tanya is similar to MK10 Tanya, who wishes to separate Outworld from Edenia

-Johnny Savage (Johnny Cage+Baraka fusion) comes from a reality where tarkat spread to earth. He is the leader of his universe’s tarkatans, and despite his monstrous appearance, he’s actually pretty similar humor wise to Liu Kang’s Johnny Cage

-he is ultimately more angry and wishes to spread Tarkat, wanting people to suffer as he does

-in Firefly’s timeline (Li Mei+Scorpion fusion), she was instead claimed by the Lin kuei instead of the Umgadi and was taught pyromancy (instead of having it innately like Kuai Liang)

-Screen Demon (Ashrah+Johnny Cage fusion) and titan Kung Lao are from the same timeline. This version of Kung Lao helped Ashrah escape from Quan Chi’s control, but was ultimately powerless as she became consumed by the fame Hollywood brought her

-Titan Subzero’s version of Kuai Liang was murdered by Shang Tsung, causing him to fight his version of the sorcerer for the hour glass to become its keeper, ultimately killing him. He is horrified when he meets Liu Kang’s Kuai Liang, seeing his scar and learning that another version of himself was responsible

-Frostbite (Nitara+Subzero fusion) learned cryomancy in an effort to help defend her people

-lizard queen (Sindel+Reptile fusion) comes from a timeline where centuries ago, Zaterrans overthrew the Edenian lineage and took the crown for themselves, thus resulting in a Zaterran lineage ruling Outworld

-Quantom Chi (Geras+Quan Chi fusion) is from a reality where Geras rebelled against Liu Kang, tired of servitude. He learns dark magic and kills his version of Liu Kang

-the good versions of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi (those who fight evil Titan Shang Tsung and Titan Quan Chi)are also titans, but are also reformed as they both started out like their current MK1 counterparts

-if you picked Reiko in the final Armageddon sequence, it’s obviously not the current timeline’s Reiko. This version of Reiko comes from a timeline where he was raised by a version of Baraka who never got tarkat and is still a soldier. Therefore, he’s much more merciful but still a very deadly soldier

-Dark Thunder God Kung Lao (I think it’s Kung Lao? I couldn’t tell during the Armageddon sequence) comes from a timeline where he grew extremely jealous of his version of Raiden. Influenced by his timeline’s Quan chi, he kills his best friend and steals his amulet in his pursuit of power

-The Shao that aids Liu Kang in the end (the one that appears if you pick general Shao) comes from time line where he and Liu Kang have swapped places. A former Outworld soldier, he saw the beauty of earth and decided to protect it. Liu Kang, hungry for power, became a conquerer who shows no mercy

Bonus! Zaterrans!

-there are variations among their species that make them look like other sorts of reptiles in their regular forms, for example

-crocodile-like Zaterrans having longer, more v-shaped snouts, visible lower teeth, and a much slimmer build for moving through the water

-Zaterrans resembling thorny devils being a bit shorter than most other Zaterrans, but being able to defend themselves with their thorny spines and is able to project blood from their eyes

-Komodo dragon Zaterrans with longer tails and having a bite force and jaw strength that is stronger than most Zaterrans. Their jaws open extremely wide

-then for chameleon-like Zaterrans (such as Khameleon herself) , they have their crests, curly tails and independently mobile eyes in their reptile forms

-in their reptile forms, Zaterrans can survive EXTREMELY long periods without air in frozen water (or colder weather). (Some reptiles can go up to 3-4 months without air!) if their variation doesn’t permit this, than they can hunker down in safe places, slowing their metabolism and limiting their movement, waiting for the cold weather pass

-this is basically a process some snakes go through call brumation-in human or reptile form, Zaterrans commonly sleep with heated or weighted blankets, just on warm surfaces in general

-females are usually bigger than the males

-there’s really no “mix” of variations, as if a “regular” Zaterran would have children with a more crocodilian-like Zaterran, then those children would exclusively look like one parent in their reptile forms
