i randomly was looking up Girl Genius bits out of context and saw a bit of Adam/Punch after he meets up again with Agatha following the time skip and 1. I love this guy, he's smart and cool and a huge patchwork monster, but I already knew that
2. for a while I've had this vague idea that the in-universe depiction of him as a comedic doofus contrasting that he was ACTUALLY a highly intelligent and sensitive person that people considered simple-minded because he was mute (and that he HATED this) is a commentary on how many adaptations of Frankenstein rarely depict the Monster as he was in the novel: a very smart and sensitive person, at least at his best days.
and this would seem to confirm it because I noticed that the SPECIFIC cadence of his speech once he shows up with his voice repaired, along with word choice, is uncannily similar to the way the Creature himself speaks in Frankenstein. (Dimo commenting that getting him to shut up is actually the hard part could be seen as a cheeky commentary on how the Creature is... WORDY, to put it politely.)

I've had almost a week to sit with today's page (Patreon!), and I think I'm somehow less coherent about it than I was a week ago.
Spoilers for the Girl Genius page for February 28, 2024, under the cut...
...the spoiler is the whole page.
Oh my great and various gods, look at them. Look how cute they are. Look how happy. They are their whole world, just the three of them, and just for a moment their whole world is right.
They're together again. And it's that simple.
Nobody's keeping score, nobody's handling anything "like gentlemen, of course", nobody's hesitating or uncomfortable or anything but perfectly happy right here.
"You're here!" Agatha says, and it sounds so much like "You're home!", and home is where the three of them are, together.
Look at the joy on this page.
My heart. My whole heart.
And yes, exciting and stressful things are going to happen after this. There is a Third Journey out there, with so many ways to break our hearts, so much drama to play out, so many cliffhangers to dangle us over. But we will always have this page, this one perfect moment.

There are conversations to be had in-world, and our cuties should have them, but...
I think we're getting our OT3.
Side note, this page is now one of only two Girl Genius story pages, ever, to be saved whole and entire to my screensaver file, to pop up and delight me at random in days and years to come. (The first was "Agatha is Dreaming...", which is also my phone background.)
