summary: a little stream rekindles feelings that had been lurking somewhere in between the lines. Or have they?
a/n *hits chest* guilty, guilty, guilty... yet I had to write this because I was about to go insane. Don't come for my head. Had never written for this man before. Enjoy. 🤍🫧
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It was supposed to be a chill night. Nothing big. Nothing special. All Vince wanted was to hang out with a couple of his old friends and mess around for a bit on stream. He needed to get his mind off the last couple of games that weren't his best. And it was just that—a good evening filled with goofy jokes—until Brian went quiet for a minute before saying, "Uuu, Y/N is coming over," and Vince's body nearly had an out-of-body experience. One that makes you fella as if, suddenly, you are standing a foot away from your body, and it almost feels like tunnel vision, but then it all snaps back into place. Yet Vince pulled the most neutral facial expression he could master before saying, "The one from the game?" making Brian simply hum in confirmation as he typed out a message to you.
The thing was, that it was stupid to even pretend that Vince didn't know you. Or that he only had seen you in one of his games as Brian's plus one. Well, besides being one of the NHL investor's daughter—a tag you shook off with a frown every time. You had made quite a name for yourself on your own. You had graduated from medical school with honors. And had opened a boutique in downtown Chicago... Not that Vince was keeping tabs or anything.
The truth was that he had never paid much attention to you at sports events or gatherings. Not that you were there often. But something about you standing there in the stands during his last game had messed with Vince's brain chemistry, and Vince just hadn't been the same ever since. He had, of course, asked Brian about your friendship and felt even more whiplashed when his friend casually shrugged while saying that you two had known each other for years. A friend of a friend. And since the energy was comparable, you had stayed in touch.
"Vince, keep the chat entertained while I let her in," Brian got up quickly, but not before stopping to address chat too, "Guys, your favorite person is here." Vince was once again left wondering how many times you two streamed together. And kicking himself for never really finding the time to watch his friends' lives. Laughter echoed from the hallway, and Vince had to mentally tell himself not to look back so he wouldn't come off too desperate. Paying extra attention to the sea of messages about how everyone was so excited to see you.
"Make some noise, make some noise," Brian shouted as he sprinted back, clapping his hands. He pulled the mic to his lips, "The one and only, Y/n Y/L/N." Your laughter filled the room, quickly followed by the clicking of your heels. "You are insane," you muttered, stepping through the door. A slight surprise washed over your face when your eyes fell on Vince, sitting in one of the chairs, but it was quickly masked by a warm smile. "Oh, hey, Vince," you muttered before leaning forward slightly to wave at the camera.
"Hey guys, long time no see. Please tell me that you've been making fun of Brian for me", you smirked, sticking your tongue out at him. "Changed my mind; I don't want you here," he huffed, playfully pulling at your hand. Vince blinked a couple of times. Finally realized that he had been staring at you the whole time, but then who could blame him? You had caught his eye back then with a messy bun, baggy jeans, and his team's jersey on. Now, with a black dress, heels, and full of glam. Lord was on his side, and he was sure glad that he had been sitting.
"Do I know Vince?" you read, your eyes darting to the awfully quiet hockey player to your right. "Yeah, we met. Was at his game, actually", you nodded slowly. "I should know all the rules by now, but..." Pulling a face, you shook your head. You avoided the games like a plague. Daddy's girl in the stadium. Those words alone made you want to run. You would rather fall face-first into dog shit. "We'll get you to more games, and you'll get it in no time," Vince's voice made your head snap back to him. The fucker dared to smirk too. Oh, but you knew his type. Heard all about it, and two could play this game. "Is that an offer?", you asked innocently. Vince only shrugged as he leaned back in his chair, "A fact." Your eyes stayed glued to each other. You hated how you could never get a read on him. How could a guy look both like the biggest mistake and like a gift from the Lord himself?
"They want to see your fit, Y/n," Brian's voice made you blink. Turning your attention back to the camera, you muttered, "Oh, wait," you backed up slightly. Trying to fit at least most of your body in a frame. "Do a twirl," Brian clapped his hands like a kid, making you shake your head. "Of fuck you, that's stupid," you muttered. "No cap, do a twirl," he motioned with his finger for you to do as he said. You rolled your eyes, but then you did feel cute today, so a little hype has never hurt anybody. "It's nothing," you said as you twirled a couple of times, "a black dress and these awful heels." You lifted one of your feet slightly, showing the sparkly, black heel.
"My turn!" Brian shouted, stepping up front as he went on a rant about what he was wearing. You stepped aside with a giggle. He was way too excited to do this, so alcohol had to be involved in this steam in some way. "Sponsorship event?", Vince said under his breath, clearly only trying to catch your attention. "You know it...", breathing out, you let out a sigh. People might call you ungrateful for this, but you hated attending anything that involved your father and his money. You were like a shiny toy for him. "Do you hate them?", he asked, catching a slight frown on your face. "Tell me about it," you said, laughing under your breath. "I ain't a fan as well," he added with a nod. "Oh, I know", you muttered, stepping aside from his chair.
"I will go for now; I need to get out of these before I start bleeding all over the floor," you chuckled, pointing to your feet once you found a minute of silence. You didn't want to just get up and walk out, so one way or another, you would have to find a little excuse to slip away. "Just get them off here," Brian muttered, not seeming to care as he scrolled through his playlist, looking for a new song to sing along to. "And flash the chat while doing so?", you rolled your eyes, "You wish for free content like that." You were about to wave your last goodbye when Vince cut in, "I'll get them." For a split second, you had hoped that you had misunderstood his intentions. So you just shook your head with a polite, "It's okay," but Vince scooted his chair closer. "No, no, I got it," he muttered, bending over.
A breath hitched in your throat as you felt his hands on your skin. "No, Vince," you muttered. But he just continued pulling at the strap; his warm fingers touching your cold ankle, sending shivers down your whole body. He fidgeted with it for a moment, but with an awkward angle, it sure wasn't an easy task. You were hoping that he was just going to give up, but his palm grasped your leg just slightly above your knee as he nudged it to a more comfortable angle for him. You nearly let out a shriek, but it turned into you biting your lip. Your hands pressed against his shoulder as you steadied yourself.
But God the feeling of relief once he finally pulled the scrappy shoes off. Near heavenly. Making your head fall back as you hummed in delight, "Remind me to boycott high heels from today," you muttered. Not to mention that you didn't miss the way Vince's hands lingered on your skin before he pulled back away from you. His gaze moves upwards to catch your eyes. And the urge to just take his face between your fingers and... Pull yourself together, Yn. You turned away quickly. Hoping to hide the slight blush on your cheeks. "It was nice seeing you guys", you waved your hand to the camera before quickly picking up your heels and padding out of the room.
Vince's heart was beating so hard against his chest. He was toying with a dangerous line. Girls like you were off-limits for a reason. The rules were pretty clear, too. It was bad enough that this was on the internet. One stupid move and his head would be drilled raw with people screaming at him. Nor did it help that your daddy dearest had spent some pretty coin on his team this year. Yet Vince was itching to get up and follow you. Little could be done with the cameras on, but outside this room, where no one could see you...
"Do you want another drink?" Vince said, causing Brian to shake his can, which, to Vince's luck, was indeed empty. "I'll get..." Brian had started, but Vince was already up and out of his chair. "I've got you, man," he said, tapping his friend's shoulder. He only had one shot at this. You can only get lucky so many times. But he didn't even need to go looking for you because the moment Vince rounded the corner to the kitchen, you were there. Leaning against the counter with your hands crossed over your chest.
"You're following me or something?", you muttered, tilting your head to the side. Vince tossed the empty cans out. "Or something," he muttered back. "Now you think you're funny?", you raised an eyebrow at him, pushing back from the corner to step closer to him. "What do you want, Dunn?", you asked, narrowing your eyes at him. A smirk tugged on his lips. That devilish one. One that turned him from an angel to a man of sins in seconds. "Back to the last name once again; you know I like it." His words were breathy and low as he reached up to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear, causing you to pull back.
"You look really good," Vince muttered, letting his eye fall down your body. Following your curves before your laughter filled the empty place. "Why are you laughing?" he asked, frowning slightly. Pinching the bridge of your nose, you shook your head, "You came here to tell me that I looked good?". This guy was something different. Yet your fingers reached up to his jaw, brushing over his jawbone. "You're adorable," you muttered. This time it was Vince who was pulling away, "I'm not adorable."
You bit your lip, trying to keep a serious face. Of course, he would get offended by a comment like that. "Yeah, I forgot that you're an angry puppy, my bad," you said with a firm nod of your head. Vince let out a huff, licking his lips as he stepped forward once more, towering over you. "Careful," he breathed out, leaning closer to your face. "Or what?", you urged him, not willing to back down. Your own hands moved to rest against his chest as you stepped on your toes. His warmth seeped into your palms. Vince's arms were pressed on either side of you. Caging you within his arms, "Or you might see a very different side of me." Your smirk matched his now as you bit your lip, tilting your head to the side. "Like..." you pushed on, wanting to see just how far he would let himself go.
"Not afraid that daddy will get mad?" The warm feeling in your stomach turned to ice. The smile faded from your lips as you reared back. "Oh, fuck you," you hissed, pulling at his arm to get away from him. You should have known better. "Y/n," Vince tried to grasp your arm, but you yanked it away quickly, "Forget it, Dunn." With a quick look around the kitchen, you grabbed your stuff and headed straight to the door, cursing yourself for willingly choosing to come here in the first place.

neurosurgeon!hongjoong × reader
buy me coffee ?
where love and peace is held, i never expected for this to happen. i planned and i planned, i expected, and i hoped, but it was never you. you held what i wanted hostage to make room for you, the thing that i needed but has no means of acceptance. deny me, live your best life.

At this point, you found yourself in somewhat of a choreographed dance with the father and son duo manoeuvring the child in question. Usually, you would have to move quickly between taking Kijoong's things out of the car and making sure that he wouldn't make a run for it, even going as far as installing a car seat, iPad holder, and small containers of cereal and snacks, effectively turning your car into a mom car. Now, you simply needed to focus on Kijoong because Hongjoong would instinctively take your bag and any of Kijoong's belongings with him. Then, the two of you would basically lock Kijoong's hands in each of yours and making sure that Kijoong wouldn't have any means of escaping or running away as your bodies would block his sides.
You both call it "inmate transfer" and others pointed out that it's actually called "the family hold". You both were confident that "inmate transfer" is correct.
"I think I stuffed myself stupid," Hongjoong huffed, taking a moment to readjust his pants before resuming the walk back to the elevator from his dedicated parking spot. You couldn't help but snicker in amusement at the way he was so comfortable with you, totally different from the person you first knew less than three months ago. "I told you not to get a second plate, Joong, this is all on you," you teased which caused Kijoong to chirp, "Yeah, Joong," he teased, sticking his tongue out at his dad. Hongjoong squinted his eyes at the two of you, "Hey, I finished my main course, I EARN that dessert. And you had some, (y/n), you can't talk shit about my decision," he huffed before crouching down to Kijoong's height, "And that's daddy to you, mister," he said, poking Kijoong's nose.
Teasingly, you raised an eyebrow at Hongjoong, "You asked me to spend my day off with you and Kijoong, I think I reserve the right to call you out for eating a plate of two waffles drenched in maple syrup and ice cream after finishing a whole ass pasta by yourself. And while we're on the subject, who eats carbonara at 10 am?" "Yeah, Joong, who?" Kijoong teased again, this time drawling to poke fun at his dad even more. "A hungry man using food as a reward for a week of hard work," he said in a mocking tone, causing you to raise an eyebrow, "So is this your way of telling me that I've done a good job?" you teased.
"Do you think you've done a good job?"
Suddenly there was a wave of seriousness over the two of you (Kijoong was blissfully unaware, of course, what with kicking pebbles around as he held onto your hands). You momentarily stop in your steps to look at Hongjoong, "What?" Hongjoong stopped in his tracks as well to look back at you, "Do you think you've done a good job so far? Are you satisfied? Are you happy working here?" Already had a feeling that the discussion was coming, you wasted no time in going straight to the point, "Is this about my employment ending?" Hongjoong was kind of glad that you brought it up first as he didn't really know how to say those exact words (In all honesty, Hongjoong didn't know how to say a lot of things to you but one conversation at a time). "Kind of, yeah," Hongjoong confirmed.
For a moment, you pursed your lips and resorted to continuing your walk to the elevator as Kijoong, still in his own world, tried to get you to kick the pebbles with him.
Feeling obligated to explain, Hongjoong opened his mouth again, "I should clarify, I'm not asking you because I'm reviewing your work or anything. In fact, I just want to know if you're happy which I think is the biggest factor in sticking with a job." You could tell that he was trying his best to not be confrontational and your lack of answer would soon make him cry. "Good because if that was your way of firing me after all that we have been through, I would be so pissed, I'd actually give Kijoong back his toy gun." Hearing his name and toy, Kijoong perked up and started jumping excitedly, "MY GUN!?" he exclaimed, hopeful but you immediately shot it down, patting his head with your free hand, "No sweetie, and please don't interrupt your daddy and I are talking."
Relieved, Hongjoong chuckled and shook his head, "At this point, it would make more sense if you leave in the middle of the night and move away to Antarctica or something. But I know you wouldn't," "Hey, I might," you pointed out, rolling your eyes, "Push my buttons enough times and I'll pull a disappearing act so fantastic, it would get Best Performance award at the Grammys or something." Hongjoong's eyes widened, thinking that you were serious, "What, you mean to tell me that you'd consider leaving us?" there was a slight panic in his voice that made you crack out rather loudly, "Oh my God, Joong, calm down! I was just joking! You know I love working with you and I'll be honest, I'm kind of attached to the cutie pies of apartment 801 so it would take a lot for me to not want to continue working with you," you said lightheartedly, pinching Kijoong's cheek affectionately.
It was only when you both stepped inside the elevator that Hongjoong realized what you just said. "Wait, did you just say 'cuties'? As in plural?" Confusedly, you raised an eyebrow at him, "Um, yeah? Why do you think I keep feeding you? You're basically Kijoong-sized XL and I love the boy to bits," this time, you couldn't help but scoop Kijoong into your arms and blew a raspberry on his cheek, making him giggle from the ticklish feeling. There was a mix of feelings that surged through Hongjoong's body and he couldn't pinpoint on the cause as the giddiness was so palpable he could taste it at the tip of his tongue. The sheer feeling rendered him speechless and he could only find his voice when the elevator door opened and the three of you stepped out.
"So... You love me?"
In all fairness, Hongjoong meant that as a joke. Or so he said. He so totally doesn't lowkey hope that you'd say yes. But he was totally expecting you to roll your eyes and call him stupid.
The last thing he expected was for you to step closer to him, nudge his hip with yours and grin, "What do you think, Joong? What do your own feelings tell you?"
A sudden wave of excitement-induced nausea washed over Hongjoong, his body forcing his brain to prepare to have the talk. The one talk he knew he had to have with you considering the revelation he made (through Seonghwa pointing it out but he was not about to give his friend the credit).
You saw that his brain was trying to connect the dots and it was entertaining, to say the least. But at that moment, it dawned on you that you had just opened the door to a conversation you had only planned to have but even that plan was not solid. So to feign being coy, you took quick steps to get to Hongjoong's apartment first. "Hey!" Hongjoong exclaimed when he realized that you had taken off on him and he followed suit. While the distance from the elevator to this unit was not long, he caught up with you quick but it was because you had stopped in your tracks in the middle of the hallway, eyes trailed forward which caused him to look in the same direction.
It was like seeing a ghost. Well, a ghost from his past. Because out of all the moments in the timeline of his life, he would never have expected to see the person he was seeing. Not after what happened in the past.
"Minhee?" he called out.
Minhee, his ex, pushed her body off of the door and smiled gently, eyes looking over to Hongjoong before it settled on you and then on the boy who looked at her confusedly, not knowing who she was but he was intuitive enough to sense that there was something going on. You took notice of this when Kijoong suddenly turned around and clung on your body, refusing to look at his birth mother.
You, on the other hand, couldn't help but stare at her. She looked like the pictures you had caught glimpses of when you were cleaning but... Happier. She looked pretty and well-kept, exactly like how a young lady from a respected family should what with her all-white get-up and expensive bag. The nasty side of your brain immediately made comparisons and you came to the conclusion that you and her were vastly different and though momentarily, the thought of her being the kind of person that made Hongjoong commit flashed, leaving a nasty remnant that felt itchy.
"Well, aren't you going to let an old friend in?" she smiled.
Hell, even her voice sounded nice.
How were you going to fare?

Bobby's 2023 Media Wrap-Up
Tumblr media
So! Like I said before, this past year I kept a running list of everything I watched, every game I finished, every new album I listened to, etc., and wrote one-paragraph blurbs with my thoughts on every single one. Please enjoy this journey through everything I liked, or didn't like, in 2023, with my favorites of the year listed at the bottom.
(Yes! This is long!!)
Some notes:
I mainly only included things I finished. Exceptions are marked with an asterisk.
I included some YouTube stuff as "TV shows" - mostly particularly long, high effort video essays and documentaries.
I was a bit less adventurous than I'd like to have been this year. Part of this was just that I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up with Big Releases I felt obligated to check out, and part of this was just executive dysfunction from burnout. Wait until you see how long it took me to beat Mario Wonder lmao
Yes, I need to read more books. I don't read a lot of books these days. I need to get back to Discworld.

Tumblr media
1/15: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (MSQ) - Very slow at times, the Primal shit is generally extremely lame to me outside of the boss fights themselves, but god if the quality of life improvements over WoW, the JRPG energy, and the fact that it Actually Has A Story carry it pretty hard.
1/18: Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island miniseries - One of the most creative and compelling uses of the Sonic IP… ever? Fantastic little self-contained arc about the struggles of Eggman’s abandoned creations that gracefully weaves between heartfelt optimism and moody horror with some of the best art ever seen in a Sonic comic.
1/18: Mega Man X4 - Glad I finally actually beat this after never even beating any of the Mavericks as a kid! I can see why it’s a lot of peoples’ favorites. The gameplay has very little of that X series bloat and is just fun, especially after getting X’s armor upgrades. (But the story really is a long series of missed opportunities.)
February
Tumblr media
2/2: Donks - Felix Colgrave continues to be an exceptional artist. The sound design on this is fantastic and really sells this short as something unique. Had to go back and watch his older stuff again after this.
2/4: Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (3.0 - 3.3 MSQ) - I get it now. I get why people say this is just a proper mainline Final Fantasy game built into the framework of an MMO. That shit ruled. Not even walking back the drama in Ul’Dah from the end of ARR can sour me on it because the main storyline was so strong.
2/8: Disneyland's Forgotten Sci-Fi Rock Band - Live From the Space Stage - A nice and honest tribute to a group of artists who could have easily been forgotten. In hindsight this feels like a precursor to Kevin’s Disney Channel jingle video, a tribute to the unsung artists pouring their hearts into “lesser” art for a megacorporation, art that was designed to be transient but sticks with people nonetheless.
2/9: Metroid Prime Remastered* - Not gonna finish because I just played through the Wii version in 2021, but still. Very, very pretty remaster.
2/16: Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - It’s more Theatrhythm. What more could I want
2/17: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (anime) - Probably the best part of the anime so far (assuming they continue on to SBR). A near perfect mix of the more structured plot of part 5 with the goofiness of parts 3 and 4 that crescendos into a fantastic, bombastic, emotional, bittersweet ending. The use of footage from the original opening and the new ending set to Roundabout in the finale were perfect, and made me intensely nostalgic for the early days of my JoJo fandom between seasons 1 and 2 of the anime.
2/22: Aggretsuko Season 5 - I don’t really know what to make of this one. Once you get past the agonizing initial arc all about Haida where Retsuko has to be his overbearing mommy GF who flips out and starts spying on him when she’s left on read and chides him when he misbehaves, it feels like an improvement over the previous seasons. But I don’t know how much of that is due to the extremely low bar set by season 4. And then the ending is extremely rushed and anticlimactic. They got legally married and the only acknowledgement was a shot of them signing the paperwork in a montage partway through the final episode?????????
2/24: Double Fine PsychOdyssey - God, what a journey the making of this game was. I already loved 2 Player’s past efforts at documenting Double Fine’s process, but this takes it to a whole new level. This feels culturally significant. The depth and honesty with which they depict not just the nitty gritty of making a game, but also the inherent struggles of working on a collaborative creative work for years at a time, is astounding. Not to mention that they were there to capture the shift from office life to remote work as COVID hit. So much of this would have been nightmarishly stressful to watch if I didn’t already know how successful the game was, but that’s just because they really didn’t sugarcoat it. And yet even after all that, it leaves me feeling optimistic about video games as an art form in a way that the constant headlines about cynical live service games don’t. There are still people out there pouring their hearts into making real art, and this is their story. Everyone who plays video games should watch this.
2/25: Cracker Island (Gorillaz) - New Gorillaz albums feel like less of an event these days, but after Humanz it feels like they’re just more chill with the project and their ambitions with it. Every couple years we get some more laid back jams from Damon along with some fun new collabs. Hard to complain. Favorite track: New Gold
2/25: Pool Kids (Pool Kids) - I discovered this band because Derek knows them and was excited when they got a song added to Fortnite through the Bandcamp collab. Always down to find more cool indie rock bands I can vibe with. The mix of dreamy vocals and energetic riffs on some of the tracks here almost fill the Crying-shaped hole in my heart. Almost… Favorite track: Conscious Uncoupling
2/25: Insane in the Rain (insaneintherainmusic) - I thought it was really funny timing when Carlos announced that his first original project would be a jazz fusion album inspired by acts like T-Square and Casiopea right as I was getting into those two specific bands. The final product does not disappoint. Favorite track: Insane in the Rain
2/26: Get Up Sequences Part Two (The Go! Team) - I’ve never been one to believe that a band’s sound has to remain exactly the same forever, but it really does hit you hard that the first two tracks here sound like classic The Go! Team. Their more recent cleaner sound is still here too, though, for a nice mix of old and new. Favorite track: Divebomb
2/28: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Season 1) - Oh my god. Oh my god. I got distracted around the time I was finishing SLARPG, but finally catching up now, wow. My assumption that the seemingly lighter tone of the series compared to the prologue was there to lull us into a false sense of security before twisting the knife when war finally breaks out was spot on. This is peak Gundam.
March
Tumblr media
3/4: Pizza Tower - One of the best platformers I’ve played in a long time. It transcends its blatant Wario Land inspirations with the sheer speed at which Peppino can move and the way things like the level design, his wall running, and even the hidden ability to do a second lap around the level reward getting into a flow state where you’re just constantly moving. This is the type of game that wants to turn you into a speedrunner. My only real complaint is a few iffy enemy designs that I wish would get patched.
3/6: Bloons TD 6 * - I bought this before bed one night on a nostalgic whim and then the next morning woke up and saw the Steam receipt email on my phone in one of the most “what did I do last night” moments of my life. I like when the monkeys pop the balloons.
3/7: The Book of Boba Fett - I put off finishing this show for a very long time but finally caved upon the release of The Mandalorian season 3. This show spends four episodes failing to make me give a shit about Boba Fett trying to be “the daimyo” and drive the drug trade off of Tatooine, then just gives up and becomes season 2.5 of Mando, which in turn feels like it undercuts the main series. It fails as both its own story and as a spinoff. I know that finishing this after Andor did it no favors, but WHOOF.
3/12: Obi-Wan Kenobi - Some interesting ideas in the first half hinting at a more introspective show, but it’s mostly swept aside in the back half so it can become a generic Star Wars adventure remixing things from A New Hope and Rebels (and apparently Jedi: Fallen Order). Action scenes have zero stakes because you know nothing can happen to any of the returning characters and none of the new ones are particularly interesting. Why there’s a second climax hinging on a Luke Skywalker death fakeout eludes me. Obi-Wan throwing the rocks at Vader is one of the funniest things in Star Wars history. But it was still better than Book of Boba Fett, I guess.
3/19: The King of Braves GaoGaiGar - Wow, cool robot indeed… GaoGaiGar isn’t going to blow anyone away with its writing, but sometimes you just need a really fun monster of the week mecha show with great action and lovably goofy characters. This is a show where like 20% of every episode consists of recycled transformation, combination, and signature attack sequences and I ate it up every time because they look fucking cool as hell. I don’t care. I’d watch Final Fusion another 49 times.
3/21: The Last of Us (HBO) * - Watched the first two episodes out of curiosity, but I’m not sure if I’ll continue because I don’t give a shit about The Last of Us. It’s definitely a well done adaptation, though, even if I know it’s inevitably going to devolve into miserable torture porn with questionable politics if they adapt Part II faithfully. The ending of episode 2 also lines up perfectly with where I stopped in the game in 2013 lmao
3/27: The Future is a Dead Mall - Decentraland and the Metaverse (Folding Ideas) - Another banger from Dan Olson. This time the premise inherently gives him more time to just show off a bunch of stupid ugly bullshit made by crypto guys, which is fun. My main complaint was that I wished he would’ve brought up Second Life more as a point of comparison (a thing I basically always want out of discussion of “the metaverse”), but he at least did touch on it in the last section.
3/31: The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog - I can’t believe after years of begging for the supporting cast to get more and better material in a Sonic game I got my wish in the form of a freeware murder mystery VN released for April Fools. This kicked ass.
April

4/7: Berserk - Completed Miura’s run and caught up on the chapters that have been released posthumously. It’s hard to say anything that hasn’t been said about Berserk, universally agreed upon as one of the greats of manga and fantasy fiction as a whole. What begins in its first few volumes as a nihilistic and edgy action comic built to facilitate as much sex and gore as possible quickly evolves into something deeply human and vulnerable and beautiful, both figuratively and in terms of its lavish art. The world sucks and is immeasurably cruel, and you will see that cruelty illustrated in graphic, sickening detail repeatedly throughout the series. (Perhaps a little too often throughout the Golden Age, where it feels like Miura never misses an opportunity to threaten Casca with sexual assault mid-battle.) But the point isn’t to wallow in that misery. It’s the story of a victim of horrific abuse learning to slowly open up to others, having those people he cares about torn away from him in the worst night of his life, hardening himself into a cold killing machine, and then slowly learning to open back up again, even if it means leaving himself vulnerable to more hurt. Anyone who says that the series peaked with the eclipse and went downhill in the “Guts’ JRPG Party” era is missing the point. Guts needed to find new people in his life to care about, to begin to find happiness again. Because no matter what unspeakable things Guts has gone through, it’s still possible for him to heal and to be loved. It takes time, but eventually you stop and realize that life has moved on.
4/8: Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe - Skipped it upon release because I didn’t particularly care for the minigame in Triple Deluxe, and I didn’t miss much. It’s fine as a little distraction, but not as a standalone rhythm game with only seven songs. If you don’t bother with the hard modes or chase after high scores this game is 15 minutes long. Oh how I yearn for Kirby to get the Theatrhythm treatment.
4/10: The King of Braves: GaoGaiGar FINAL - Eh… It was okay. Lots of cool robot fights, but said fights are stitched together with a mediocre plot that tries too hard to be more “mature” than its unabashedly schlocky kids’ show predecessor. Not crazy about the ending, either, which tries to be a bittersweet farewell closing off the series once and for all while also teasing that maybe there’ll be ANOTHER sequel after the OVA series they literally called “FINAL.” Ah well.
4/11: The Owl House - Sad to see this one go, but it’s hard to imagine them doing a better finale than this, even if they had gotten the six seasons they deserved. I’m not as obsessed with The Owl House as I probably would’ve been had it come out when I was, like, 20, but it’s a really fantastic show for all the reasons people always say. Great characters, great world, great story. I love that this starry-eyed fantasy story about a teenager finding love and a place where she belongs is also set on the rotting corpse of a titan with Hieronymous Bosch-inspired scenery and freaky monsters everywhere. What a great mix. If anything, I just wish I would’ve watched the first season as it aired so I could’ve had more time with it.
4/29: Mega Man Battle Network 3: Blue Version - FINALLY beat this via the new collection, 20 years after playing it as my first Mega Man game. (Technically my first was White, not Blue, but whatever.) There are more annoyances than I remember - lots of really really bad forced backtracking sections where you have to revisit every previous part of the internet, low chip drop rates, some really aggravating bosses like BubbleMan and KingMan, etc. But it’s still a great time overall. It’s Battle Network. In the back half the story gets surprisingly emotional, too. I was always under the assumption that the Hub stuff never came back up much in the story after 1, so I was pleasantly surprised with how relevant it was to the emotional arc of 3.
4/30: Mega Man Battle Network 4: Red Sun * - Yeah I’m not playing through the whole thing lmao. I just wanted to play the first couple hours for nostalgia’s sake, and as a baseline for how much better the rest are. Even before getting deep in the game and having to deal with all the shit gated between doing two new game+ playthroughs, it’s immediately obvious how much of a downgrade this one is. Tons of glaring errors and typos all over the script, blander music, a way more boring aesthetic for the internet, and a premise that mostly just recycles the tournament idea from 3.

5/14: The Venture Bros. - Glad I finally sat down and watched all of this with Anthony after having seen one (1) episode as a teenager and a bunch of random clips in the years since. Great show. Some jokes in the early seasons haven’t aged gracefully, but what the show grows into over time... man. Hank and Dean go from being the butt of the joke to being characters you actually sympathize with - while still also being funny little goofballs. And the journey Henchman 21 goes on throughout the show. Man. Amazing that a comedy like this could run for 20 years and maintain its level of quality. Can’t wait for the movie.
5/18: Future Me Hates Me (The Beths) - Okay yeah I’m now just discovering bands through Fortnite lmao. I can’t complain really, they pick some really great indie artists for the in-game radio stations. Anyway: It’s very easy to win me over with a combination of energetic power pop, catchy guitar riffs, and earnest lyrics like this. One of those albums where three or four tracks in I know I have to buy it. Favorite track: Not Running
5/18: Jump Rope Gazers (The Beths) - Ditto. Favorite track: Dying to Believe
5/18: Expert In A Dying Field (The Beths) - Another good album. (I’m listening to these in release order.) I’ve been a bit slower to warm up to this one, initially thinking it was a little too mellow overall, but it might be my favorite after a few listens. Some real high highs. Interestingly, the lead singer’s New Zealand accent is also coming out more in her singing? Favorite track: Your Side (or maybe Head in the Clouds)
5/19: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - As a Mario fan, I think I enjoyed it? As a movie, less so? It was decent, in spite of feeling like they came up with a list of fun action setpieces first and then wrote the absolute bare minimum possible for the story scenes tying it all together. Full thoughts here. (This is the first movie I’ve seen this year, huh? I really don’t watch a lot of movies.)
5/23: Don't Know What You're In Until You're Out (Gladie) - I feel like I don’t like Gladie as much as I should. Their style of noisy indie rock is very much in my wheelhouse, and I do enjoy listening to them, but I dunno. Maybe it’s that the particular style of vocals makes it more monotonous to me. A good album nonetheless, if not 100% my thing. Favorite track: Nothing
5/24: City Slicker (Ginger Root) - Yes I am still making my way through Bandcamp artists I heard on Fortnite don’t @ me. Any excuse to get me to listen to some cool city pop-inspired funk like this is a good excuse. Favorite track: Loretta
5/24: Rikki (Ginger Root) - Favorite track: Why Try
5/25: Spotlight People (Ginger Root) - Favorite track: The Classic
5/29: Succession - A good dramedy series that increasingly focuses more on the drama than the comedy as it progresses, but it’s hard to complain about that since the drama is so compellingly produced. I enjoyed it. That being said, I kind of rankle at the claims that it’s The Greatest TV Show Of All Time. It’s great, don’t get me wrong. Amazing performances all around. But the show LOVES to spin its wheels, to repeat itself, and to let most of its interesting dramatic developments fizzle out before anything really comes of them, almost as if the show is constantly getting bored with its own ideas. To some extent this is intentional - Logan Roy is the untouchable billionaire, his kids fail at everything (but will nonetheless remain billionaires), and in the long run none of them really give a shit about anything other than their own status. But it’s not like things tend to visibly impact anyone else, either, be they supporting characters or the world at large. Even the Big Scary Election, where the Roy siblings are directly responsible for plunging the nation into chaos, ultimately has zero impact on the finale a mere two episodes later. Certain Other Things do have an impact in the last season, though, allowing things to meaningfully change for the cast and for the show to sit with the ensuing drama, which has stopped me from souring on Succession more. There was finally a payoff for something. But it does still kind of feel like a show that goes in circles until it’s ready to call it quits, even if those circles did contain a lot of great acting and music along the way.
5/29: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - I’d watched the first 12 episodes when they originally released, but I guess the Netflix binge release and the fact that all three “seasons” came out in one year led to me waiting until it finished… and then I just never got around to finishing it. Glad I fixed that! Really fun and stylish cartoon with an art style reminiscent of Teen Titans, a hip hop-filled soundtrack, dynamic fight scenes, and a colorful post-apocalyptic world filled with mutant (mostly anthropomorphic) animals. I’ll admit that at times I do kinda roll my eyes at Kipo’s unshakeable belief that everyone can be friends in a way that I don’t necessarily with similar shows like Steven Universe, and not every joke lands, but I dunno. It’s a kids’ show. That’s to be expected. It doesn’t detract from the overall package for me.

6/1: Craig of the Creek (Season 4) - It’s been years and I’m still processing the fact that kids can turn on Cartoon Network and hear Jeff Rosenstock. Anyway! Craig continues to be one of the best cartoons on TV, consistently funny and creative and way more engaging than a show about a bunch of kids LARPing in the woods has any right to be. This season turned into One Piece with the gang effectively hunting down the Poneglyphs in search of a legendary treasure. The kids think it’ll be magic. It isn't. An increasing number of cartoon logic gags aside, this show is firmly set in the real world. Does that make it any less interesting? Hell no. Season 3 turned a game of capture the flag into an all-out five episode war between the heroes and villains, filled with dramatic turnabouts and a climactic guest appearance from Del the Funky Homosapien. I’m sure however they wrap things up in the (sadly shortened) final season, it’ll be great. (Also? I would watch a whole show based on that “what if” episode that jumped forward to everyone’s 20s.)
6/6: Barry - Holy shit, what a show. I ended up binging it in less than a week in a cycle of “okay, just one more episode.” The way this show is able to swing between tones and genres while still feeling like a cohesive whole is truly masterful. It’s a layered character drama, a tragic crime thriller, a farcical comedy, an understated action series, a surrealist morality play, and a scathing satire of Hollywood, all in one. Even within the criminal underworld subplots the show ranges in tone from Breaking Bad to Paddington 2. And it works! While the show naturally gets bleaker over time as it confronts the repercussions of Barry’s murders, it never completely loses sight of its comedic roots. My favorite episode was easily season 2’s “ronny/lily,” a mostly self-contained episode that somehow manages to keep throwing the perfect curveballs to escalate its dark comedy.
6/12: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) - Y’all heard of this movie? Pretty good, it turns out. (I’d seen the theatrical cut before, but this was my first time watching the extended edition. I’ve also only seen parts of the other two movies, so it’s time I finally watch all the extended cuts. The Gollum game pushed me to this.)
6/13: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) - give it to us RAW and WRIGGLING
6/17: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Extended Edition) - I’m not crying YOU’RE crying
6/22: Clone High (Season 2) - While the first episode being about “cancel culture” (or, more accurately, a teenager from 2003 being transported to 2023 and putting his foot in his mouth a lot) put a lot of people off, I ended up enjoying the new season of Clone High. The new clones grew on me as the season went on and their roles in the web of teen romance melodrama crystalized, and it made me laugh a lot, and Cleo/Frida is galaxy brained. Also they played one of my favorite Antarctigo Vespucci songs like a minute into the first episode. I don’t think I could really ask for much more.
6/28: The Mandalorian (Season 3) - I'd been watching this weekly but put off the last episode for no real reason. Responses to this season have been all over the place, but my blistering hot take is… it was fine. Is it as good as the first season? Probably not. But Mando no longer needs to carry the whole franchise on its shoulders and set the bar for how good the live action Disney Star Wars shows can be, because Andor exists, and it’s never gonna top Andor. The Mandalorian is free to just be a pulpy space adventure show where Giancarlo Esposito plays a scenery-chewing cartoon villain and a little puppet does wire stunts. These are things Andor cannot and should not do, but that’s Star Wars, baby. It’s delightful. I could watch Grogu get underhand tossed like a sack of flour all day.

7/2: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Season 2) - LOVE WINS. (More nuanced take from way later: It definitely feels like a lot of the more messy political conflicts in this show got swept aside by the big final battle where some more easily resolved family conflicts take center stage. I’m not sure the ending is the most satisfying. But also this show only got half the episode count that damn near every other Gundam show ever made got, so that might be a factor here. Idk. Still one of my favorite Gundams.)
7/4: Final Fantasy XVI (watched Anthony play) - I had to write my longest Medium article ever about this one because I was so frustrated
7/10: Home Movies - “Things I like that I’ve never seen in full” has certainly been a recurring theme this year. Home Movies remains an all-time classic of animated comedy that went out on a high note before things got stale or the characters became parodies of themselves. While it’s mostly known for its funny improvised banter, throughout the last season you can really see the arc where Brendon no longer enjoys making movies, yet he feels obligated to keep using them to escape from the real world. In that light, the ending where the nature of their dysfunctional makeshift family is cemented, Brendon’s camera suddenly breaks, and life moves on really does feel like the perfect note to end on. Truly one of the best to ever do it.
7/15: The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom - Wow. Just… wow. I had serious doubts about TotK in the months leading up to release due to how close Nintendo was playing their cards to their chest. I didn’t want this to be a Saints Row IV, where the game is fun enough but the recycled map makes it feel like a rehash. Instead, I found a game that made me look at BotW’s map in a whole new light, brimming with so many more things to do and people to meet. Add on a better, more versatile set of tools, more varied dungeons and bosses, and a story that I felt was told somewhat better and we’ve got a real contender for my new favorite Zelda game. It was hard to tear myself away, but as this list shows, it’s been basically the only game I’ve played since it came out.
7/16: Sonic Prime (Season 2) - I liked the parts with Shadow and Chaos Sonic, but I’ve come to the sad conclusion that most of this show is just mediocre. More thoughts here.
7/18: We ♥ Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie - “I’m a dog, but I love Katamari Damacy.” Truer words have never been spoken.
7/19: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - Pretty good! It didn’t blow me away, but after how bad the Bay movies got I’m just thankful to have a decently cohesive Transformers movie where the human story is okay and I like the bots (although half of them needed more screen time), even if it is just another Hollywood blockbuster about two sides fighting over a macguffin that devolves into a big CGI battle against an army of nameless monsters in the third act. This is basically a mid-tier MCU movie but with Transformers, which won’t do much for most people, but again: the bar was underground.
7/22: The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart - God DAMN. A phenomenal ending for the series. While I would have loved to see a full final season to get some more one-off episodes in there, this doesn’t feel creatively compromised in any way–either due to the time constraints, or due to a desire to make it more marketable as a movie. It really does feel like they just took their outlines for the canceled final season and gently massaged them into the shape of an 84-minute movie, and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s completely on par with the previous seasons. A hilarious and fitting sendoff for one of the greats of adult animation.
7/23: Beautiful Katamari - This was one of my first Xbox 360 games, but a frustrating temperature-based level made me put it down for 16 years. “Maybe it won’t be as bad now that I’ve beaten the first two games and am better at Katamari,” I thought. Nope! Still an absolutely dogshit level. But also, turns out the whole game is only like two hours long lmao. It’s still Katamari, so it’s still fun - the final level in particular, which seamlessly takes you from ground level all the way to space, feels like a logical endpoint for the series - but beyond that it just doesn't have the same soul without Keita Takahashi's input.

8/4: Doom Singer (Chris Farren) - I’ve been waiting so long for Chris and Jeff to do another Antarctigo Vespucci album, but god damn. This is the best of Chris’s solo work, and a contender for his best record, period. Every track’s a banger, with more energy than some of his previous solo work but also a good deal of variety. Favorite tracks: First Place, Cosmic Leash
8/4: Transformers Earthspark (Season 1) - This show had a bit of an uneven start, unsure if it wanted to have the emotional maturity of a more serious action cartoon or a preschool cartoon where the characters have little kid mood swings and outbursts and learn basic lessons. It also felt like it was speedrunning its Wholesome Found Family Dynamic with characters who just met, which didn’t feel earned. While these problems never completely go away (see: the cheap and corny way the otherwise very dark season finale suddenly resolves), the show improves quickly, and the positives outweigh the negatives. It’s so great to have a Transformers cartoon that feels fresh, giving us a post-war setting with a bunch of new characters and new dynamics between the Cybertronians and the humans. The returning characters are also uniformly great as the old veterans overseeing the new generation. (Reformed Megatron! Danny Pudi as Bumblebee! Steve Blum returning as Starscream! Keith David as Grimlock!!!) And those super dynamic action scenes! I can nitpick, but Earthspark’s a ton of fun, and easily the best new Transformers cartoon since Prime and Animated.
8/5: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (remaster) - Everyone who told me this game was a masterpiece was right. I had played the first chapter when it dropped as the demo for the iOS version years ago, but never went further than that until now. What a game. Absolutely incredible through and through. Great story, great twists, great characters, great puzzles, great art direction. Everything comes together so perfectly to form a totally unique, unforgettable package, a top tier video game murder mystery. Everyone should play this, preferably going in as blind as possible.
8/15: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Season 16) - Wow! Recent seasons of Sunny have been kind of up and down, with some interesting experiments (Mac Finds His Pride, the Ireland arc, etc.) paired with some comedic duds. Most of this latest season is standard fare for the series with fewer big creative swings, but it’s just hit after hit in terms of comedy. Not a single dud, whether we’re seeing Mac and Dennis try to start a rental business for inflatable furniture or watching the gang meet Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, believing the entire time that the latter is Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle. Even the attempts at topical comedy landed better. Easily the funniest season in years.
8/16: One Piece Film Gold - It’s easy to see why this one has kind of been forgotten in the wake of Stampede and Film Red, which revolve around established fan favorite characters, but this was still pretty fun. Perhaps a little too long, but it’s fun to see the Straw Hats fool around in a giant casino and do a heist. They definitely cranked the fanservice up even more than usual in this one, though, as I probably should have expected for a movie made alongside the anime’s adaptation of Dressrosa.
8/17: One Piece: Stampede - This one goes for a different kind of fanservice. While most One Piece movies are isolated from the ongoing plot and its expanded cast of characters, Stampede instead asks “What if we just put damn near every active character on the same island and had them fight?” The answer: a fun time! It would get old if all of the movies were like this, but after a bunch of movies that are just like “the Straw Hats are gonna land on another new island and fight some more weird guys” it’s fun to see characters like Law and Buggy and Smoker get in on the fun. It’s also nice to get a movie with the Wano era art style, and Usopp surprisingly gets some really good character moments in here.
8/18: One Piece Film Red - This really is the best of the One Piece movies, huh? (Baron Omatsuri is a close second.) It really feels like a change of pace after the last four with the most interesting and emotionally engaging story out of any of them. And even if the events of these movies are never canon, it still feels significant in my understanding of Shanks as a character as we move into the final phase of the manga.
8/21: Pikmin 4 - The opening hour of the game made me really question if they’d changed too much, with all the focus on your new dog unit over your Pikmin and the extremely dull, drawn out dialogue scenes with your new companions back at the base. But once I got into the swing of things I had a blast. This is probably my new favorite Pikmin game. There’s a great mix of activities here to keep things fresh. I also really ended up liking Oatchi’s role as basically your second captain who can also serve as your tank or a rideable mount. The Dandori stuff and nighttime missions in particular show off how useful Oatchi is for your multitasking without necessarily overshadowing the Pikmin.
8/22: Never Get Tired: The Bomb the Music Industry! Story - I literally backed this on Kickstarter eight years ago (my name is in the credits!) and then never got around to watching it for no reason. It’s on YouTube now, and Jeff’s got a new album out next week, so now feels like the perfect time to watch it. And man… what a great documentary. Obviously I’m just a fan of the band, but this also really spoke to me as an artist. Jeff wanting to stick to his principles and give out his music for free and play cheap all ages shows, his discomfort over the idea of selling merch, and the struggles that come with not playing the game like that… It's hard. They readily admit that Jeff is an idealist, that people fight him on this stuff, that he’s missed out on some big opportunities because of these stances, and that he’s had to compromise a bit on some of these things over time. But that incredible climax with their final show, including a full opening performance of the slowly building “Campaign for a Better Next Weekend” and the closing performance of “Future 86” where the whole audience is singing along as the members of the band are hugging and crying… it’s beautiful. This may have been a band where the members had to go back to their shitty day jobs after every tour because they weren’t selling out arenas, but their art meant something to people, and that makes it all worth it.
8/25: Nimona - I haven’t read the original comic (yet), so I can’t compare them too much, but it’s nonetheless pretty apparent that some things were softened and easy kids’ movie jokes were added by the studio to squeeze this graphic novel for teens into a PG animated movie. Regardless, the emotional throughline hits REALLY hard, particularly the very blatant trans allegory and the climax. (It’s no wonder Disney was afraid of this movie seeing the light of day lmao.) The animation is also very squishy and fun to watch throughout. Great movie.
8/26: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Spider-Verse really has done so much for animation, huh? This one was as good as everyone said. Beautiful use of stylized color and lighting throughout, and every time this movie very conspicuously shifted to different framerates for a flashy fight scene it owned. Very cute and heartwarming story, too, which thankfully gave its second act plenty of time to explore the cast and let them go on their journey, unlike a certain plumber movie that came out a few months later. Also I would let Death [redacted]
8/28: Holocure: Save the Fans! - This isn't really something I can beat, but I've been addicted to Holocure lately. I don't even watch VTubers aside from maybe seeing a funny Korone animation every now and then, this is just a really, really good freeware Vampire Survivors clone with a huge roster of varied characters to pick from.
8/31: HELLMODE (Jeff Rosenstock) - A new album from Jeff is always a major event for me. If there were any worries that he was starting to go soft at 40 (because one of the three singles off this album was a gentle acoustic piece), the frantic opening of this album put those worries to rest. The first two tracks are Jeff screaming out for help as he’s pulled in a million directions by the chaotic state of the world, a theme that becomes the thesis of the album. I’d say it lags slightly in the middle, but overall this is another extremely well-rounded record full of bangers that’s unapologetically Jeff, with possibly my favorite closing track he’s ever done. Favorite tracks: I WANNA BE WRONG, 3 SUMMERS

9/3: One Piece (live action, Season 1) - They did it. I can’t believe it, but they did it. While I have my nitpicks (Usopp and Sanji don’t get enough big moments to shine), this is an extremely solid and faithful adaptation of the first few arcs of One Piece with a great cast. For the most part the changes feel smart and logical, and the big emotional beats of the story are all there and executed very well. I doubted it a little in episodes 2-4, where the Orange Town and Syrup Village arcs saw some major changes to shift the action indoors, and the increased focus on the drama in favor of repeating every gag and battle from the manga 1:1 took a bit of getting used to, but by the end I was having a blast. It’s a different take on One Piece, but it still feels like One Piece. Genuinely very excited for season 2.
9/4: Pseudoregalia - A great little N64-style 3D Metroidvania focused on platforming and very satisfying movement. I always love entries in the genre that are less prescriptive in what order you have to tackle areas in, a la Symphony of the Night or Hollow Knight, and this one’s great in that regard. While there are a number of new moves to find, most of the map is open to you very early in the game, and smart use of your moveset can allow you to “sequence break” without even realizing it. (You would not believe how long I went without getting the wall run.) I do wish it had a map, but that’s already being patched in.
9/6: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk * - Not a bad game at all, but I quickly remembered how bad I am at skating games, so like… eh? Not sure I have much desire to play past chapter 2. Also the soundtrack is sadly kinda hit or miss for me outside of the obvious Naganuma tunes.
9/9: The History of the Minnesota Vikings (Dorktown) - Jon Bois never misses. Even as someone who doesn’t actively follow sports, Jon Bois is a master storyteller, using graphs and statistics and funny anecdotes to explore these deeply human stories. He can convey why people care so much about these teams, these people, and sports in general, and how our popular sports reflect on American culture. He could tell the story of just about any team or player in any sport and I just know I’ll come out the other side a misty-eyed fan. And what a fascinating cast of characters we have this time, with origin stories for everything from the Hail Mary pass to a Minnesota state supreme court judge to the Griddy. Nine hours well spent.
9/10: Timespinner - A fun and highly polished Metroidvania that maybe doesn’t quite have enough of its own identity in its quest to replicate Symphony of the Night…but also, like, this was pitched as a Symphony throwback on KickStarter in a pre-Bloodstained, pre-Hollow Knight world, so I can’t really blame ‘em! Stopping time to avoid boss attacks is fun, the pixel art is gorgeous, and I liked the dark science fantasy story about warring empires and meddling with time a lot more than I thought I would - lore journal text dumps and all.
9/14: The Decay of Sam & Cat (Quinton Reviews) - All the stuff at the end with Matt Bennett (the actor who played Robbie on Victorious and Sam & Cat) in this was really good and sweet. It’s that kind of thing that makes these videos feel like they’re still worthwhile on some level. But the padding and the things Quinton chooses to spend the colossal runtime on does drive me more and more insane with each passing Nick sitcom video. I don’t know how much longer he can keep this schtick up. I hope he’s able to move on to other things before too terribly long instead of continuing to extend this “miniseries.”
9/19: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales - AKA Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 1.5. It’s fun for the same reasons Peter’s first game was fun. I had a good time swinging around New York again in preparation for the sequel, and there’s a lot of cute stuff with Miles becoming Harlem’s neighborhood hero, but WOW did the Underground v. Roxxon conflict fall flat for me.
9/20: I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson - I understand so many posts now.
9/25: Spider-Man (2002) (rewatch) - It’s you who’s out, Gobby! OUT OF YOUR MIND!
9/25: Futurama (Season 8) - I was ready to be a hater, recalling the fact that Futurama has already had three “perfect endings” with the show getting a little weaker with every revival. Then I watched the first new episode on a whim and thought it wasn’t bad, so I was like, eh, sure, I’ll watch the rest. Overall Hulurama is hit or miss. There are chuckles to be had, and it sure as hell beats modern Simpsons, but almost every episode is either a belated take on an overplayed Topical Issue (the pandemic, Amazon, cancel culture, etc.) or a direct sequel to an old episode people liked. Or both! It’s also really noticeable that certain voice actors sound way older - Billy West is struggling with the Fry voice in particular, and it hurts his comedic timing. But just when all hope seemed lost after the nigh-incomprehensible toy-themed anthology episode, possibly the worst episode of the entire series… the last episode, where the Planet Express crew explores whether or not the universe could be a simulation, was really, really solid. Great note to end on to make me not regret my time with this season as a whole.
9/26: Spider-Man 2 (2004) (rewatch) - Once the GOAT, always the GOAT.
9/27: Spider-Man 3 (rewatch) - Revisiting this movie for the first time since I saw it in theaters… it’s not bad. It’s fine! It continues to have the heart and sincerity that make the first two movies work. It’s just not as concise with three villains vying for the spotlight, but I also wouldn’t cut any of them, necessarily. I guess Eddie/Venom would be the easiest, but Peter getting the black suit and giving in to his resentment feels too central to cut. (Yes, even with Emo Peter becoming a meme.)
9/28: Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake - I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this one, especially since I was never really a fan of the genderbend episodes in the original show. (At the time they mostly just felt like an excuse to crank up the teen romance stuff to 11.) But MAN. This was a fantastic coda to the original series. It made me care about Fionna and Cake and their friends as their own characters separate from their original counterparts, it gave the Simon/Betty arc a much more satisfying (if no less bittersweet) resolution than the original finale had time to do, and it even managed to be a multiverse story that didn’t make me roll my eyes in 2023. A+ all around. Makes me wanna rewatch the original show again. [spoiler: I did]
9/29: Meanwhile (aivi & surasshu) - It’s been a whole decade–they were busy with, you know, all the music in Steven Universe, among other things–but we finally have a new aivi & surasshu album! Their chiptune/piano fusion style is familiar, but they’ve definitely grown as composers in subtle ways. Favorite track: Time Travel

10/1: This is Financial Advice (Folding Ideas) - A lot of the nitty gritty finance law stuff turned into white noise for me, but still, great video. I had no idea that the GameStop stock craze devolved into this bizarre cult that thinks they’re going to crash the global economy and rise from the ashes as the new kings with the value of their GME stocks. Glad this video exists to try and balance out the narrative.
10/5: Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon DLC - Good ideas, absurdly frustrating and tedious execution. Full thoughts here.
10/10: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (rewatch) - I didn’t plan this, but very fitting that I would end up rewatching this on 10/10.
10/12: Half-Life Alyx but the Gnome is Self-Aware (wayneradiotv) - ha he! (Seriously though, that finale was a fucking masterpiece. The RTVS crew has an incredible knack for using the framing device of video game livestreams to blur the lines between comedy and horror, or ironic anti-humor and complete sincerity. I’ve never seen anything else like this.)
10/15: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Not sure how much I can say that hasn’t already been said. The most visually creative movie I’ve ever seen, grounded by some really excellent storytelling about Miles (and now Gwen) that’s probably better than his actual comics. But it also does feel like it’s about to end and then the movie just keeps going like ten times over lmao. Can’t wait to watch this a second time on a better TV.
10/20: Sonic Superstars - A mostly really solid and fun 2D Sonic game that’s unfortunately dragged down by an extremely hodgepodge soundtrack and some overly drawn out boss fights. I spent HOURS trying to beat the final boss of the bonus scenario (which is required for the true ending in this one) before giving up. Really a shame that that’s the note I’m leaving the game on, because I otherwise enjoyed it, but ah well. More thoughts here.
10/27: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 - Another good Spider-Man game from Insomniac. Liked the story more than the one in Miles Morales, but maybe not as much as the first game. Extensive thoughts here.
10/28: Venom - Was in the mood for more Venom after the game. As expected this was not a very good movie, but the dynamic between Eddie and Venom made it a fun watch. Tom Hardy is constantly about to shit his pants in this movie. It’s great.
10/28: Venom: Let There Be Carnage - I had a way better time with this one. Is this a good movie? No. But it cranks the insanity of the first movie up to 11. Goofy as fuck in an extremely watchable way.

11/5: Pluto - An absolutely masterful series that anyone interested in sci-fi needs to watch. The anime adaptation was great, and I immediately understand why people who’ve read the manga speak so highly of it. Really makes me want to get into Astro Boy more, and also read some of Urasawa’s other works.
11/18: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - Wow, just wow. When news of a Scott Pilgrim anime broke I was cautiously curious to see if we’d get a more direct adaptation of the comics, and instead it veered off in the exact opposite direction in the best way possible. This is almost entirely a different story, one that’s in conversation with the previous versions (sometimes in very meta ways), and I think it’s really valuable to see O’Malley revisiting these characters with new things to say about them. The major story divergence gives us a chance to examine the characters from a new angle - particularly Ramona, who’s the real protagonist of this version, and the evil exes, who completely steal the show. This was a great reminder of why I fell in love with this series as a teenager. I now genuinely hope we get more Scott Pilgrim.
11/22: Void Rivals (Issues #1 - #6) - The first arc of the new Robert Kirkman series that kicked off Skybound’s new “Energon Universe” is now complete, and I’m left thinking Void Rivals is… okay? I thought the first issue was a decent (if not particularly original) sci-fi comic with an appealing art style, which just so happens to also briefly have a Transformer in it so there can be a Big Surprise. And the series still hasn’t quite shaken that feeling to me. It’s an okay sci-fi series that arbitrarily dedicates a couple of pages of every issue to something from Transformers, but I’m not really sure what the shared universe stuff adds to Void Rivals, or what Void Rivals adds to Transformers and GI Joe. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
11/22: Journey to EPCOT Center: A Symphonic History (Defunctland) - Yeah, gotta be honest, I only got halfway through this one. It seems like Kevin just 1) really wanted to push himself creatively and 2) make a love letter to Epcot, and while I respect that, I think it suffers as a historical documentary. It’s Fantasia but for the creation of Epcot. That might be very impressive on a technical level, but it feels more like a piece of Disney propaganda than prior Defunctland videos due to a lack of context and nuance.
11/24: Aperture Desk Job - A short, sweet, and funny little tech demo for my new Steam Deck set in the Portal universe. More effort was definitely put into this than was strictly necessary.
11/26: ESCHATOS - I am not good at bullet hell games, but I enjoy them from time to time and I really love this one’s FM synth soundtrack, so I picked it up on a whim in the Steam sale. I only beat it on Easy, but still, I had a lot of fun with it! It’s straightforward but very flashy, with the camera dynamically zooming around from set piece to set piece at ridiculous speeds and each level segueing directly into the next. The lack of a powerup system on the main mode in favor of just needing to know when to use your different shot types makes it feel very approachable.
11/27: Lunistice - A great little 3D platformer with a good soundtrack that I had fun hunting down all the secrets in. This is an easy recommendation for fans of games like Kirby or Klonoa - whimsical games set in colorful dream worlds where the underlying story can get a bit more somber. (Although the story in this one is mostly told through mildly cryptic lore dumps, so your mileage there may vary.)
11/28: Spark the Electric Jester 2 - The leap from 2D to 3D here is impressive, but this is very clearly a rough draft for Spark 3. Very, very fun Sonic-style 3D platforming, but the combat is lacking and the storytelling is just kinda bad. More extensive thoughts on this and the above two games here.

12/2: Fortnite (Chapter 4) - This was my first full chapter of Fortnite, after having been roped into the game by the siren songs of Zero Build mode and Goku during Chapter 3. This means it’s harder for me to compare this chapter to previous ones, but still, Fortnite remains a genuinely very well made Battle Royale shooter that’s a blast with friends. If I have any complaint about this Chapter, it’s that they would regularly introduce zany ideas and then slowly reel them back in, whether it was the Augment system or the increasingly mundane movement items. It also felt like it was a little too easy to get the perfect loadout in every match, meaning the final showdown would almost always be against players with Slurp Juice and gold shotguns. And I missed the smaller mid-season map updates of Chapter 3. But overall I still had a really good time, and look forward to playing more for the foreseeable future.
12/4: Plagiarism and You(Tube) (HBomberguy) - This will get written off by many as “YouTuber drama,” but this really is an excellent video essay that feels like the kick in the pants that YouTube needs. If video essayists are gonna be a major source of information for so many, then they gotta have standards. I also think it does a good job of highlighting the people that have been plagiarized and trying to drive more attention their way in an attempt to right those wrongs.
12/6: Transformers (Skybound comic) - We only got the first three issues of this in 2023, but I just HAVE to say something about how incredible this series is here. Daniel Warren Johnson is knocking it out of the park. This is the new bar for Transformers. The hand-inked art is extremely dynamic and full of character, and the story is using the familiar beats of G1 Transformers but doing very new things with them. You can tell this from the very first page, but the emotional scene of Optimus accidentally crushing a deer in the forest and realizing how fragile life is on Earth sealed the deal for me. And yet in the very same comics Optimus can do suplexes and clotheslines and lord knows how many other wrestling moves on Decepticons, and it doesn’t feel like tonal whiplash? These comics just fucking rule, and anyone with even the slightest interest in Transformers should be reading them.
12/8: What We Do in the Shadows (Season 5) - [spoilers] WWDITS has very much settled into being a status quo show. Every season has its own little arc where one or two things change to keep things interesting, but then everything returns to normal by the end. Guillermo finally becoming a vampire, only to become a human again in the end, might just be the most egregious example of this yet. But also… the show’s still really funny? And I continue to be happy that Kristen Schaal has stuck around as a series regular as the Guide. So it’s hard to complain. I could see the show running out of steam over the next few seasons, but it’s still hitting for me right now.
12/12: Pony Island - Finally got around to this since the trailer for the sequel dropped. I feel like playing this years later in a post-Inscryption world where Pony Island is a known quantity kind of lessens its impact, but still, it’s a fun and funny puzzle game where you try to hack your way out of a possessed arcade machine. I’m not sure I found it particularly scary, but I’m not sure it’s supposed to be? The way the game messes with you during the Asmodeus “boss fight” was probably the highlight for me. I also like being able to say things like “The part where you have to not kill Jesus was so hard. I kept getting terrible butterfly patterns.”
12/16: Breaking Bad VR but the AI is Self-Aware (wayneradiotv) - As always, Wayne and co.’s commitment to the bit is unrivaled. This kind of got interpreted as just a way to troll HLVRAI fans, but so many moments in this genuinely made me laugh out loud.
12/18: Soul of Sovereignty Prelude - As someone who would list Cucumber Quest as a big creative influence, I was naturally very excited for this first chapter of GGDG’s new visual novel. Their mentality of both scaling things back in terms of labor while also going more shamelessly self-indulgent in terms of storytelling after burning out on making webcomics has really spoken to me, and WOW, the end result of that new process of theirs is shaping up to be something really special. The art and music are sparse but extremely evocative, giving you the rough sketch of the world and letting your mind fill in the rest. The story blends literary high fantasy vibes with the style of fantasy seen in ‘90s JRPGs (you can definitely tell this came from an idea for an RPG), but rather than constantly winking at the audience and making self-aware video game references it plays these storytelling ideas extremely sincerely, giving them real dramatic weight while still indulging in fun tropes to their fullest extent. While it’s a far cry from their most famous work with much more mature content, GGDG always excels at creating characters and worlds that immediately grab me. I can’t wait for the rest.
12/18: Barbie - I’m only… what, five months late for the whole Barbenheimer thing? Perfect timing. Anyway! On the one hand, I get the critiques saying that this movie is just a major corporation funding a self-aware feminist critique of their own product as a marketing ploy. And I kinda agree with that. And the movie is a little too long, and I don’t really know what to think of the way the Barbie/Ken conflict plays out. Anthony asked me to summarize what the story ended up being about, and I had no idea what to even say. But also… I did still like the movie? We don’t get a lot of cartoonish, absurdist, fourth wall breaking comedies like this anymore, and this is a good one of those. Also the whole cast is great, the set design is kind of stunning, and the cinematography is consistently appealing. I wouldn’t say it’s a revolutionary work of feminist filmmaking by any stretch, but it’s a good comedy movie.
12/21: Dr. Stone: New World - Man, Dr. Stone is great. I’ve said this many times, but I just love that this series uses all the trappings of shounen that would normally be used to hype up the protagonist learning a new move to instead hype up things like the protagonist building a loom or a hot air balloon. It’s shounen Bill Nye. I didn’t completely love everything about the Treasure Island arc this season, but it all built towards a really fun climax with a lot of satisfying turnabouts where the heroes use their ingenuity to just barely win.
12/23: The History of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out World Records (Summoning Salt) - Truly one of my favorite Summoning Salt videos ever, even with how repetitive Punch-Out can get to watch. It’s just so hard to beat “and that runner… was me.”
12/24: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - What more can be said that hasn’t already been said? It’s the best and most creative 2D Mario game since the ‘90s. The only real flaws are that it’s a little easy, the Search Party stages are annoying in singleplayer, and I wish that every boss prior to the final boss wasn’t just some form of Bowser Jr. fight. But those aren’t nearly enough to drag the whole experience down. It was a blast.
12/24: Do a Powerbomb! - Got this from Anthony as a birthday present. This is the previous series by the creative team currently doing the new Transformers comics I was gushing about a few entries ago. Even with the high bar set by those comics, Do a Powerbomb! exceeded my expectations. Holy shit. An absolutely entrancing fantasy wrestling miniseries full of dynamic, energetic action and tons of heart. These comics where a guy wrestles a giant talking orangutan almost made me cry. Twice. An instant favorite.
12/25: Adventure Time (rewatch) - We ended up finishing our rewatch of Adventure Time (the main series, anyway) on my 30th birthday, which feels appropriate. I already kinda knew this, but this rewatch has truly confirmed that Adventure Time is my favorite TV series of all time. The entire show is even better on a full series rewatch. In hindsight, even parts that annoyed me when they aired end up being important parts of the beautiful tapestry that is this series. The many low points of Finn’s adolescent love life are important stepping stones in his growth as a person, which leaves him in an extremely satisfying place by the end. Jake having kids didn’t get to be a huge status quo change because they grew up instantly, but then they did a bunch of fun episodes about Jake’s relationships with his adult children that deepened him as a character. And most of the big lore questions they kept teasing over the years (“Where’d the humans go?” “Who are Finn’s parents?” “When’s Finn gonna get a robot arm?” etc.) ended up getting satisfying and creative answers, because the show left itself the room to figure those things out later. This is a truly special, one-of-a-kind series, one that lasted nearly 300 episodes and yet still seems like it was over too soon. And yes, I did in fact cry during the final montage, like I knew I would. I will always cherish this show with all of my heart.
12/25: Olive the Other Reindeer (rewatch) - Haven’t seen this one since I was a kid! It was a favorite of mine back then, and while it might not be quite as funny as I remember it’s still very cute, with a 2D/3D hybrid art style that remains very unique and appealing. As an adult I can also appreciate the cast they got for this, with like half the cast of Futurama bolstered by guests like Michael Stipe from REM and The Sopranos’ Joe Pantoliano.
12/26: Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio - Anthony and I capped off our Christmas with the most jolly and festive stop motion movie of all! Jokes aside, man, what a beautiful movie. The animation is immaculate, and we really just don’t get children’s animated films like this anymore. Ones that overtly feature real world politics and religion and so many other dark themes in a way that doesn’t talk down to kids or sugarcoat things. This one hits hard. We need more movies like this.
12/31: Oppenheimer - This was an interesting one. Despite being three hours, the way that first hour jumps around in time makes it feel like Oppenheimer is constantly being propelled forward through life at a breakneck pace, swept up by the rising tide of nationalism in spite of his personal left wing politics, never really reflecting on what he’s doing until it’s too late. Then when he’s no longer useful to the empire, he’s chewed up and spat out, only to eventually be honored as a national hero as a symbolic gesture. It’s a compelling story. However, I’m a little torn on how certain aspects of history were framed. Does the abstraction of the bombings detract from the true weight of those events, in favor of sympathizing with the man who built the bomb? Or is it clever a way to show how the realities of the war were compartmentalized away by people who were complicit in its most heinous acts of violence? One minute a bunch of physicists are talking theory, thousands of miles away from the theaters of war, and the next they’ve killed 200,000 people. So which is it? Eh, probably somewhere in the middle, I guess. But I liked it overall.
12/31: Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe - I’ve been really surprised by how good this rerelease is. It kind of flew under the radar for me. I liked the original game, but at the time it also almost felt like the New Super Mario Bros. of Kirby. It was a straightforward throwback game where you went through a grass world, then a desert world, then a water world, etc., and also they added four player co-op. But returning to this one after the kinda mid Star Allies has made me appreciate just how solid RtDL is as a Kirby game. I really like the updated graphics, too - yes, even the new cel shaded outlines around the characters - even though I didn’t think it looked that great in screenshots. Also the two new copy abilities (Sand and Mecha) are fun, the minigame collection is shockingly fleshed out to the point that they could’ve sold it as a standalone eShop game, the collectible character masks are fun, and the new epilogue mode where you play as Magolor is one of the coolest bonus modes they’ve ever done. This is a top tier Kirby remake any fan of the series should check out.

You nervously paced around the elevator, clutching the booklet in your hands with a fierce grip. Taking in shallow breaths and jumping slightly when the elevator doors ding open on your floor. You held the booklet close to your chest as you quickly walked past other hotel guests, hoping that they wouldn’t notice you. You search for your room number and dig out your keycard to be let in. Swiping it on the door, and with a soft click, you pressed on forward. The cold air of the hotel room gives you a slight jolt as you look at your surroundings, first checking out the bathroom. It was a sliding door with no locks that slid easily with a little push. You stepped on the tiled floor, and the first thing that grabbed your attention was the huge floor-to-ceiling mirror right in front of the doorway; "Woah.." Woah… woah…….. There was a small echo in the bathroom as well when you spoke out, causing your shoulders to hunch up even more. You glance at the two sinks and then the large shower across from them. ‘Enough to fit five people…’ You thought to yourself, imagining a scenario where five people would use that shower together with a blush.
The sinks being right across from the shower means that the sink’s mirror is also across from it, giving anyone showering the perfect view of themselves. You let out a shaky sigh. ‘This hotel really knows what it's doing, huh…’ Backing out of the shower to check out the rest of the room, a king size bed, a tv, a small couch on the corner, and other very normal things you expect in any hotel. You were expecting a whole wall of whips and chains, to be honest. Glad to be mistaken around that, you sat on the foot of the bed, smoothing out the booklet that had been wrinkled to all hell since you had been crushing it in your hands this whole time. You bit your lower lips as you opened it, your eyes scanning through all the names, pictures, and descriptions scattered in the pages.
Your friend had recommended this service to you, tired of hearing you whine and bitch about how you were going to be a virgin forever. A ‘Escort Service’, your friend had tried it before, multiple times, they said, and every single time they left with a smile on their face, legs trembling, and pussy wrecked. With a bit of pressure from your friend, you finally decide to take the plunge and see what all the hype is about. You already booked the hotel room and paid for everything, the only thing left was to choose who you wanted to be your first…..

Looking out the window of the passenger seat of Natasha Romanoff’s car, you couldn't stop yourself from smiling as she drove. The sun was shining in the light blue sky, but the air was relatively warm. It's a beautiful day for a race. You felt like you were going to jump out of your skin from how eager you were, but you had to play it cool.
“You know you’re allowed to be excited about today.”
So much for playing it cool.
“I’m a little excited,” you said, giving her a smile as you looked away from the window. “Okay, I’m really excited. I’m glad you invited me.”
“I’m glad you accepted. You said you liked motocross when it was brought up in the work chat," she pointed out. You went to a few races back home. They were fun. "I’ve wanted to introduce you to a couple of the guys and I thought today would be perfect.”
Since you moved to the area a few months before, you hadn’t had time to make many friends. You somehow managed to hit it off with Natasha, your coworker. She had a cool, almost intimidating, energy about her that you appreciated. Her actions and words were deliberate and calculated, while you sometimes led with emotion. She admitted recently that she admired that, along with your grit, because it showed her how honest you were.
Not that everyone appreciates it.
You wouldn’t necessarily call yourself argumentative, but you were vocal. Your parents heard from teachers often as you grew up that you stood up for what you believed in, pushed the envelope at times, and wore your heart on your sleeve. While some thought that those were admirable traits, others wrote you off as emotional or snappy. It didn’t always hurt when that happened. A smaller circle of people who accepted you was better than a large group who didn’t care at the end of the day.
Maybe I can find that here.
“What’s the sour look for?”
“Shouldn’t your eyes be on the road?” you half teased, not wanting your thoughts to cloud your good mood.
“You’re regretting wearing the skirt, aren’t you?” her lip quirked up, not quite smiling.
“You TOLD me to wear this!” you reminded her.
“I suggested it because you said you couldn’t remember the last time you got laid.”
You huffed a little. "Boys suck. I need a man."
By definition, you weren't a jaded girl about love. Though your friends back home sometimes reminded you that you had a bit of a wild streak, especially when it came to boys. You liked the rush of excitement in the beginning and the thrill of not knowing what would happen tomorrow. Somewhere along the way, your wants changed. You still craved excitement, but also wanted the guy you fell for to stick around once the euphoria faded. You wanted to be loved.
Am I asking for too much?
"Oh, some of them here are very much boys. A few are decent men."
“So, you brought me out here to introduce me to a couple of your guy friends, watch them race, and help get me laid?”
She waited a beat before she answered. “Something like that.”
“I’m not going to hook up with some random racer,” you smiled, though getting laid did sound nice. Sex wasn’t the beginning and end of everything for you, but you hadn’t been fucked in months and you were starting to get frustrated. At least I have my trusty toy.
“I wouldn’t judge you if you did,” she said as the car began to slow down.
“Nat…” you began, turning as much as you could in your seat to face her. “I have a perfectly good vibrator at home. It’s dependable and doesn’t talk back.”
She gave you a knowing look once she parked in the grass parking lot, evident even through her sunglasses. “You want someone who talks back.”
You bit your tongue before you could say you wanted someone dependable, too. “Maybe, but not too much. I don’t want a pushover, but I don’t want an asshole either.”
“Was that why it didn’t work out with that guy back home? What was his name? Frank?”
You wrinkled your nose a bit. “He was only a partial asshole. He was also part sex god and a had a self destructive streak a mile wide,” you said.
Frank was a free spirit, always up for an adventure. You knew he was never meant to be the guy you ended up with forever, but you were drawn to him nonetheless in the beginning. Sex could only distract you so much from the lack of direction in life and occasional drug use. In the end, you couldn’t fix him and he didn’t want you to.
You still wished him well.
“Are you looking for Mr. Perfect?”
“No, I’m not. Mr. Perfect doesn’t exist because someone like that doesn't have flaws. That isn’t realistic. I just want a guy perfect for me."
"That makes sense," she agreed. "Someone who gets you."
"Exactly. I'm a lot to handle, but-"
"You're not," she interrupted. "Guys get away with being brazen all the time. Girls should be able to do the same."
"Thanks, Nat,” you sighed a little. She was right. “I just want someone who appreciates me. Someone who pushes back when I push, but lets me be vulnerable, too," you explained before you sat up straight. “Wait, why are we talking about this? This is race day.”
Natasha hummed thoughtfully as she tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear. “Okay. Let’s go.”
What is she up to?
You bit your lip as you got out of the car, replaying your words in your mind as you smoothed out your skirt. You wondered if you set your expectations for guys too high. It doesn't matter. I'm not here to pick up anyone, even if the racers look hot with their gloves and the way their asses look in their pants and everything else.
It was crowded as the two of you began to walk, but not overwhelming. It was still a bit early. You saw the track ahead before you veered off toward the trailers. "You sure they don't mind meeting me now? We could always wait until after the race," you offered.
"I promised I'd stop by to wish them good luck.”
“Remind me again who I’m meeting?”
“Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers, both 450 riders and two of the best in their class. Been best friends since they were kids," she replied. "Might see a couple of the others, but that may not be until after the race."
You remembered seeing a few photos of Bucky and Steve on Natasha's social media page. Both were handsome, but the brunette with the steel blue eyes caught your attention. From what you heard in passing, he was single.
How the hell is a guy that handsome not seeing anyone? Maybe he’s a manwhore, which is his choice. Nat doesn't seem like the type to hang out with assholes.
"Fair warning. Steve is usually a bit quiet before a race, but Bucky can be a bit unpredictable," she told you.
"What do you mean?"
"He may be grumpy or just stare at you. It intimidates a few people. Please, don't take it personally if he does.”
"I'm a big girl. I can handle it," you promised. "Though I'm questioning why you thought it would be a good idea to introduce me before the race. And no promises that I won’t make a face if he stares.”
Natasha gave you a rare smile before it quickly fell. “Shit,” she whispered, walking a bit faster. You fell in step beside her, hearing heated voices ahead. Two men, racers by the look of their outfits, were standing inches apart and the larger of the two looked ready to come to blows before a third rushed over.
“Stay the fuck away from my bike!”
“Buck, step back. He isn’t worth it.”
"I wasn’t anywhere near your bike. You’re paranoid.”
“You’re a fucking prick!”
“Hey! You boys causing trouble?” Natasha called out, trying to break the tension as you got closer.
You recognized two out of the three men as they looked your way. The one who pushed his way into the middle with dark blonde hair and a trimmed beard was Steve Rogers. He looked a bit thankful for the distraction, even though he could hold his own from the looks of him. If you had to guess his height, you would say 6’3 or 6’4. The baggy arms of the red, white, and blue jersey didn’t hide how muscular he was.
You didn’t recognize the man on the left with the dark brown hair, but you saw him give you a once over with a smirk. His eyes almost matched his hair color. Between that and the black and white jersey against his tanned skin, you were sure girls flocked to him.
Handsome. Cocky. And he's looking at me like he owns me.
And the man on the right? That was Bucky Barnes. Just as tall and broad as his best friend, but he looked like a cobra ready to strike. And seeing him in person, oh, he was very much your type. His eyes really were like steel as they bore into yours, strands of his medium length caramel hair framing his gorgeous face as he clenched his fists. He looked like sex and danger personified, the kind of man who would devour you if you let him.
Well, I’m fucked.
You were also glad you wore that skirt.
“Only trouble is this fucking prick messing with my bike,” Bucky snapped, pointing at the other brunette.
“Maddox Rumlow. Good racer, big ego, even bigger prick,” Natasha whispered to you, almost making you snort with laughter.
“For the last time, I didn’t touch your bike,” Maddox calmly spoke, smirking as he cocked his head to the side. “And I don’t need to mess with it to beat you. I can beat you on my own just fine.”
“And I can beat your face in just fine,” Bucky gritted.
That shouldn’t turn me on.
Maddox didn’t look phased. If anything, he looked amused. “If I were you, I’d worry about finishing the race and not messing up my other arm. Not unless you want a matching pair.”
“That’s enough,” Steve said through his teeth as Natasha inhaled sharply, the only telltale giveaway that she was upset. And that upset you. Bucky was her friend and you felt protective of him for that reason. “Seriously, what’s your problem? You never give Levinson or Jensen or anyone else this kind of grief.”
“I’m not giving Barnes grief,” Maddox had the nerve to look wounded, looking at a few others who had ventured over, likely wanting to see if there would be a fight. “No one wants him to get hurt. Again.”
Glancing at Bucky, you saw him clench his fists even tighter. That’s when you heard the slight whirr. Natasha didn’t give you the details, but she mentioned that he lost his left arm some time back and received a metal prosthetic in its place. You couldn’t see it with the shirt and glove covering it, but the tick in the brunette’s jaw told you that Maddox’s earlier comment struck a nerve. It struck a nerve with everyone.
Oh, fuck this guy.
“I’m sorry, your name’s Maddox?” you asked sweetly to catch his eye, looking him up and down the way he had to you moments ago.
“I am,” he answered with a charming smile, licking his bottom lip as he shamelessly checked you out again. If he eye-fucks me any harder… “Haven’t seen you before. What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Steve had to bring his arm up to keep Bucky from moving toward him, making you pause before you said your name. Is he just done with his shit? “Nat says you’re a good racer.”
“Good? One of the best,” he corrected you. “You’ll see.”
“So humble,” Natasha said under her breath.
“Are you messing with Bucky here because he’s your biggest threat?” you guessed.
“I wouldn’t call him a threat. More like friendly competition. It never hurt anyone,” Maddox smirked as Bucky glared back at him.
He’s trying to get under his skin and it’s working. Well, two can play that game.
“Right. Keeps people on their toes. I get it. But I bet he has a kickass nickname,” you said, giving Bucky a soft smile before you looked back at Maddox. “Do you have one or should I pick one for you? Maddox the Meager. Mediocre. Or should we just go with what he called you: Prick? Maddox the Prick has a nice ring to it.”
The smirk Maddox wore instantly went away as Steve’s eyebrows shot up. Natasha let out a hum of approval as you looked at Bucky out of the corner of your eye. He had a smirk on his face and you couldn’t help but clench at the sight of it.
God, if he smirked at me like that while he’s between my thighs…
"What was that?” Maddox asked, the false charm completely gone from his earlier tone.
“Meager, mediocre, prick,” you rattled off easily as his nostrils flared. “Well, what else should I call someone who eggs someone else on before a race? Doesn’t seem like 'friendly' competition to me. I kind of get it, but just because he has a couple of inches on you-"
"I'm taller than him," he cut you off.
You raised an eyebrow, "I wasn't talking about his height."
Maddox's mouth set in a grim line as you heard a couple of low whistles and chuckles. Doesn’t feel good to have someone go after your ego, does it? “You have a mouth on you.”
“So I’ve been told,” you shrugged a little.
“I like it," he grinned, but there was nothing friendly behind it. "I can think of a couple of things you can do with your mouth, sweetheart."
“I’m not your sweetheart.”
“And she’s not interested,” Bucky said, making you shiver. Unlike the fury you heard when he snapped at Maddox previously, all you heard was ice in his tone. Maybe that was the reason you didn't mind that he spoke for you. “So fuck off.”
For a split second, Maddox looked furious. He recovered quickly as he straightened up and winked at you. “We’ll see about that,” he said, taking a few steps back. “See you on the track.”
Bucky turned away from you to watch him walk away, giving you a chance to check out his ass. No, no, no. Don’t look. Fuck, I want to squeeze it. He swung back toward you as your head snapped up, giving you a full head-to-toe view of him. The red and grey of his motocross gear suited him. You noticed after a moment that he was also effectively blocking Maddox from your view as he walked away, forcing you to look at him instead. “I like her, Nat.”
Okay, why did hearing that make my heart stop?
“I knew you would,” the redhead replied, nudging you with her shoulder. “And I knew you’d make an impression, but I didn’t think you’d have fans.”
“What?” you blinked as she nodded to Steve and a couple of others you didn’t recognize. You were the center of attention. Even Bucky’s eyes were still on you. “Hi. Why are you all staring at me?”
Steve chuckled a little. “Because we’re not used to seeing someone putting Rumlow in his place. The guy’s a bully on and off the tracks, but fans and sponsors seem to love him. I’m Steve, by the way,” he said, holding out his gloved hand as he gestured to the guys behind him with his head. “That’s Sam and Joaquin. Natasha’s told us all about you.”
“Nice to meet you,” you said as you shook it, noting that he was careful not to crush your hand. “All good things, I hope.”
“All good things, but I’m a little bummed I missed the show,” Sam smiled, running a hand along his buzzed hair. There had to be something in the water since he was built, too, though he was slightly smaller than Bucky and Steve.
Joaquin, the smallest of the four men, gave you a small smile. “Care to give a repeat performance?”
“Only if Levinson gets to see it. He’ll be pissed when he hears he missed it, too,” Sam joked.
“For now, the show’s over,” Nat said, shooing them toward the trailer.
Except for Bucky.
He caught your eye as he moved closer to you. He actually looked relaxed. And he smiled at you. “I’m Bucky. Nat really has told us a lot about you, which isn’t like her.”
Oh, he has a gorgeous smile.
You repeated your name for him, a little disappointed that he didn’t shake your hand like Steve. "Yeah, I noticed she can be a bit guarded, but she really has done a lot to make me feel welcome here."
"You like it here?"
"Yeah, I do," you nodded, the small talk unexpected, but nice.
“Do you make it a point to jump in to defend complete strangers or am I the exception to the rule?”
You had to smile at the question. “You’re Nat’s friend, so you’re not a complete stranger,” you teased, making him smile more. You wanted him to smile again. “And while I don’t know the history between you two, I could tell from the small interaction that he was being an ass. I’m not exactly known for holding my tongue.”
“I don’t doubt that. Not every day people call him a prick to his face. Well, besides me."
“The shoe fit,” you shrugged, not at all ashamed. “And I’d say it again.”
“You’re a little spitfire, aren’t you?” he grinned, putting his hands on his hips.
“I guess you could call me that," you smiled. You liked it. "You know, I was half expecting to meet a grump. Nat said that’s how you are sometimes before a race.”
“I usually am,” he said honestly, lifting one shoulder in a shrug. “Until that prick showed up, hanging around my bike and looking in my trailer.”
“Why did you let him get to you?” you asked curiously.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He looked disappointed in himself. “I don’t know. I’ve never liked the guy and he never liked me. Had it out for me from the start," he explained.
"Probably because you really are his biggest threat."
"That and he comes from a family of assholes. He’s a good racer, I’ll give him that, but he plays dirty and doesn’t care who gets hurt as long as he gets ahead. Worst part is he acts like he’s a good guy when almost everyone else is looking.”
“So, he really is a prick,” you teased, kicking a bit of grass with your shoe.
“Yeah, he is. I don't think he's used to a gorgeous girl seeing through him. And I’m never going to let him live ‘Maddox the Prick’ down, so thanks for that."
He thinks I'm gorgeous?
“Glad I could be of service,” you smiled. “If I can give you one more thing? Unsolicited advice, but try not to act like a hothead to your competition."
Bucky's brows pinched slightly. It was adorable. "I'm not a hothead."
“Maybe not, but you kind of acted like one. Did you notice that Maddox didn’t raise his voice or step forward when you snapped at him? He made you look aggressive, which is probably how he wanted you to look to anyone else who saw it,” you explained. Stop talking. Why am I talking so much? “I think he was trying to goad you into a fight and or at least rile you up to throw off your game.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched and unclenched as he regarded you. Fuck, I upset him. He didn’t move away from you though and you refused to squirm or back down under his gaze.
“If Steve hadn’t held you back, would you have punched him?”
Bucky slowly nodded after a moment.
“I probably would have tried to hit him, too. Not sure if Nat told you, but I tend to lead with emotion. Act first, question later.”
He grunted in response, giving you what you assumed was his grumpy glare.
Welp, it was fun being your friend while it lasted, Nat.
“For what it’s worth, I’m glad you didn’t hit him. Because he would have won and guys like him don’t deserve to win,” you said, touching his right arm before you quickly dropped your hand. He didn’t ask you to put your hands on him. “I’m sorry. I talk too much and you didn’t ask for my opinion.”
“Who said you talk too much?” he questioned, stepping forward when you stepped back.
“I just did,” you answered.
“Well, you don’t,” he said quietly.
“I don’t?” you asked in disbelief.
He shook his head, his eyes warmer than you expected as he looked at you. “No. You tell it like it is. You should hear Steve when he goes off on his tangents. Punk acts like he’s doing me a favor whenever he does.”
“Oh,” you said, surprised as you smoothed out the non-existent wrinkle from your skirt. His eyes followed the movement, though he tried to be discreet. “Most guys would’ve told me to ‘fuck off’ after that.”
“Show me where those guys are so I can teach them a lesson,” he said seriously.
A knight in shining motocross gear armor.
“No need for that,” you smiled, feeling better now that you knew he wasn’t offended by what you said. “But I appreciate the offer.”
He moved forward another step and you instinctively leaned in closer. Something crackled in the air between the two of you. You wondered if he felt it, too, or if you simply imagined it. “Thank you for defending me and for the unsolicited advice. I shouldn’t have let him get to me.”
He smells really good. Like a woody citrus. Who smells that good before a race? “You’re welcome. Thank you for not telling me to ‘fuck off’.”
You both laughed, that electric current flowing through you again. “So you think he was just trying to get under my skin, huh?”
“I could be wrong, but I think so. And I don’t want to see you lose to a guy like that.”
Bucky looked over your shoulder, the warmth disappearing from his eyes. “I won’t lose.”
You turned your head to follow his gaze. Maddox was by his trailer a short distance away, but his eyes were on the two of you. Maybe he really was threatened by him.
Bucky gently took your wrist to turn you back toward him. "Rumlow keeps checking you out. He wants you," he stated.
"Is that a problem?" you asked, glancing over at Maddox again. He smirked in response when he made eye contact. You had no intention of doing anything with him, but wondered if Bucky cared because of his own self interest or yours.
“You acting uninterested will make him want you more. He likes a challenge.”
"Doesn't surprise me," you said. Some people liked to go after what they couldn't have.
"He's good. I'm better."
You heard the complete confidence in Bucky's voice and you believed him. "I guess I’ll see for myself," you teased.
"Kiss me."
You studied Bucky for a moment as you faced him again, waiting for him to say he was joking. He didn't. “Say that again?"
"Kiss me," he repeated slower, somehow making it sound like a suggestion and not an order.
"Kiss you? You just met me.”
“And I still wanna kiss you.”
Your gaze went to his mouth. The offer was tempting, but you knew if you felt his lips against yours that you would want more. "Why? For good luck?"
"Yeah,” he answered, his lips shifting into a devilish smirk that made you clench. “And to piss him off. Maybe I want to get under his skin, too.”
You bristled at how casually he said that, even with the heat flowing through your body. “I'm not a pawn or chew toy for you dogs to play with."
He laughed, tugging you close. All the anger you saw from him a short time ago was gone, which quelched your anger, too. "Lucky for you, I play for keeps. Also not big on sharing."
"Sounds like a you problem," you retorted, but didn't step away. “But if you really want to piss him off, I have another pair of lips you can kiss instead."
His eyes lit up as he leaned in close, his lips an inch from yours. "You offering?"
Your stomach flipped as he placed his other hand on the nape of your neck. "You accepting?"
Natasha cleared her throat as she appeared beside you, almost making you step back. She invited you to watch the race with her and implied that she wanted you to have a good time, but she shouldn’t have to watch you flirt with her friend. "You two can finish this later. You have a race to get ready for, Barnes."
"Good luck," you said with gentle sincerity.
Bucky closed the gap between you and pressed his lips against yours. They were softer than you expected, a complete contrast to his hard, muscular frame. Instead of pushing him back, you molded your body against his. The kiss only lasted another second before he pulled his mouth away. You exhaled, wishing you had parted your lips to let him explore. Judging from the flash of want in his eyes as he stared, the small kiss got to him, too.
"Barnes? Barnes!" Natasha said, snapping you both out of whatever spell you were under.
Bucky cleared his throat as he took a step back. "Just gave me all the luck I need," he grinned, licking his lips. "Mmm. Is that cherry? I like it."
You wanted to smack the smug expression off his face and kiss him again. How the fuck can a brief kiss leave me aching? "Sweeter than any pie you've ever had."
"I believe it. Hope I get another taste," he winked as he grabbed his helmet. You hoped he didn't see you shiver at the implication.
“C’mon, let’s go,” Steve said, but there was a smile on his face and Sam’s as well.
"Hey, Rumlow!" Bucky yelled.
Maddox glared over at him, no doubt having seen the kiss. "What, Barnes?"
"Winner gets a date with her," he declared, pointing at you.
Oh, fuck no. "Excuse me?"
"You're on," Maddox called back. It was like they didn't hear you or simply didn't care.
"Bucky, what the fuck did I say about not being a toy?" you snapped as Nat grabbed your arm. It was a good thing she had a strong grip because now you felt a bit volatile.
“Consider it a payment for the unsolicited advice,” he simpered at your slack-jawed expression.
"You can't bet a date with me."
“But you’re the grand prize. And I told you, I play for keeps,” he said, slipping his helmet on as Steve yanked him back by his right arm. You could see Sam trying not to laugh.
Yeah, you better put your helmet on so I don't throw something at your ridiculously handsome face.
“I’m not a fucking prize!”
"Sorry, doll!" he said, gesturing to his covered ear. "Can't hear you with my helmet on."
“Nat, tell him!”
“After all that? And after I saw you check out his ass?" she smirked.
Of course, she saw that. How does she see everything?
"You were checking out my ass?" you heard the smile in Bucky's voice as heat rose to your cheeks. “It’s all yours after I win.”
You were torn between flattery and something you couldn’t even pinpoint. "Thought you couldn't hear anything," you gritted, hearing his chuckle as the redhead pulled you away.
“Can’t wait for our date!”
Your heart nearly stopped as you looked back. His helmet shielded his face, but you could still feel his eyes on you. “In your dreams, Hothead!”
“You’ll be in my dreams tonight! And you know that isn't my nickname. It's actually-
"It's Hothead."
"Whatever you say. Spitfire."
“I hope she knocks your ass in the dirt,” Sam laughed.
You chortled as Nat continued to drag you away. “What the hell just happened?"
"I think you have a date.”
"I don't have a date yet," you huffed. "Unbelievable."
"Which part?" she asked deadpan. “The fact that he already likes you, that you like him, or that you two kissed?”
Some of your anger faded as guilt crept in again. Bucky was her friend and you shouldn’t have let him kiss you. "Nat, I’m sorry. If I made you uncomfortable-"
"Woah," she held a hand up to stop you. "Not uncomfortable with you two flirting. You're adults. Plus, I've seen much worse from some of these guys."
"But he's your friend."
"You're my friend, too, and a huge step up the girls that normally flock to him. And you managed to calm him down, which is impressive."
"So, if I made a move or he made a move on me, you would be totally fine with that?" you didn't hide your suspicion.
"He already made a move," she threw a glance over her shoulder before looking ahead again. “I’m totally fine with it.”
You thought back to the conversation in the car, how she hinted at wanting you to meet her friends and get laid. “Wait. You wanted this to happen.”
“Wanted what to happen?” she asked.
You were tempted to grab and shake her. “You know what! You were trying to set me up without setting me up.”
Her stare was impassive as she looked at you again. She had a good poker face. "To be perfectly honest, I was hoping for the two of you to hit it off,” she admitted, clearing her throat. “I may have overheard him tell Rogers that he was interested in meeting you after I told them about you. He hasn't dated in a while, so him showing even a hint of interest was a good thing."
A rush of air left your lungs as you stopped walking. Part of you took what you heard as a compliment. "That’s why you told me not to take it personally if he was moody. You wanted me to like him. Nat, why didn’t you just say so?”
“Because I didn’t want you to feel pressured to come for that reason and didn’t want you to feel awkward if you didn’t like him. I wanted it to just happen. And if it didn’t, no big deal. You would’ve been none the wiser.”
Calculated. Deliberate. “I feel a bit hustled.”
The redhead pursed her lips. “I get why you feel that way, but don’t hold that against him. I haven’t seen him let his guard down so quickly for anyone.”
“How did he let his guard down?"
“He actually listened and talked to you. He flirted with you. That’s not something he does with everyone,” she swore. “Plus you defended him in a way that didn’t make him look weak by shifting the focus back to Rumlow.”
You wanted to believe her. You liked that he took you by surprise. And you really liked his brief kiss. He took a risk and, you had to admit to yourself, it paid off because you couldn't stop thinking about it. “I just don’t want to be a prop for him to beat Maddox.”
“Barnes may have said that to piss him off, but the chance of getting a date with you is extra motivation for him to win. So if the only reason you’re upset is because you want it to be a real date, believe me when I say it would be.”
“You actually think I’ll honor that if he wins?”
“Yeah, I do,” she said. "That guy you want who talks back? Pushes, but lets you be vulnerable, too? That could be him. And how will you know if you don't try?"
Why does she have to be right about that?
In the very short time you knew Bucky, you felt excited, aroused, out of sorts and more. It felt like whiplash without the pain. You wanted to know what else he could bring out of you. And the racer seemed to want to know you, at least a little. What did you have to lose?
“I want him to win,” you said in defeat, chewing on your lower lip. “I really want him to win.”
“He will,” Nat’s voice was soft, but firm.
Don’t let me down, Bucky Barnes.
Tumblr media
So, what do we think? I can't wait to share more of these two after Break Check. Love and thanks for reading!

Time Alone.
Jey Uso x Reader
Rating: 18 +
Warning: Smut & a slight mention of a stomach bulge.
“Time was something that didn’t even seem to exist to you. But, your husband Jey does sure know how to have a fun time.”
A/N: I just had to write a little something for my Main Event Jey Uso, and after seeing his Instagram story this past week… It was my destiny 😭😭. I did say that I would release this yesterday, so let’s just consider this a little Valentine’s Day piece.
GIF: @rebecca-quin
Tumblr media
Being a business owner of your own makeup brand, Zeta Cosmetics, and being a full time mother to four kids was really tough. Even though your husband Jey, was a big time help and support system, it was still super difficult to balance everything. And you’re blessed to have such smart and active children, but you’re starting to think they’re a little too active.
The fact that three of your children had different after school activities, was a WHOLE struggle in itself. Your oldest daughter, did humanitarian volunteer work for an hour after school, then softball practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. NOT to mention, she just got her first job, and guess who has to take her to work? Yup… it’s me. Then, your first son, wants to be an all sport MVP, cause he just plays every single sport there is. So, his practices are just all over the place. Your second daughter is a cheerleader for her brothers football team and has weekly cheer competitions. The hair, the makeup, the uniforms, and that monthly fee… She’s lucky she looks absolutely adorable with that little bow on her head. And your last child, which is your son, is only 10 months old. So, he’s basically the Pomeranian that you keep in your purse DAILY.
Kids are such wonders, but mama needs a break sometimes.
“Hey baby”, your husband Jey said smiling through the phone. “I miss you so much. Why did you have to leave me this week for your crazy ass twin?!” You said chuckling.
“Put some respect on my name sis.” Said the crazy ass twin himself, Jimmy. “I ain’t gotta do a damn thing, you took my man from me”, “He was mine first anyway”. Jimmy said sticking his tongue out at you. “Okay, okay, let’s not fight.” Jey said sternly. “But, listen baby I know how tired you are, and I wanna make sure my lady good. So, pack a little overnight bag, the jet is gonna be ready in about four hours.” “What are you up to boy?…” You said smirking slightly.
“Don’t worry about it, you know I got you girl.” Jey said showing that blazing smile. “Okay, but what kind of clothes am I supposed to be wearing sir?!” “Well, I was hoping you’d be wearing nothing. But, it’s somewhere a little tropical, so I guess that gives you the chance to just to what it do”. “Can you not talk about Y/N being naked, I think I’m gonna throw up”, said his goofy older brother. “I know you not talking Jimmy. Don’t let me get Trin on that ass.” “Y’all just stupid”, Jey said giving a breathless laugh.
“But, I’ll see you later tonight, alright baby.” “Wait… what about the kids?!” “I’m WAYYYY ahead of you. I got my mom and pops on that.” Thank god he had that sorted out, even though it’s gonna be a little hard to leave my babies, we could use some time alone. “I’ll see you tonight.” “See you tonight”. ~FaceTime ends.~
5 hours later
Jey is the best you could ever ask for. After packing your overnight bag, and saying bye to the kids. It was you and the love of your life… forever. He took you to a quick day and a half trip to Cuba. The villa you guys were staying at was absolutely gorgeous and the workers were radiantly exceptional. “This is so beautiful baby.” You said blushing. “I’m glad you like it, you know the Tribal Chief knows all the vacation hot spots.” “He damn sure does. But… he never stayed in this specific room. Right?!” Jey looked at you and said, “I’m pretty sure they have multiple honeymoon suites.” “Thank god, cause you don’t know what that man does.” You said barely being able to hold in your laughter. Jey laughed along with you.
Since the trip was pretty short, you guys had to make the most of it. By sleeping first, since there was no time difference and it was late at night. But, by tomorrow you guys would be up and at em’.
Soon the morning came and the workers at the villa surprised us with a lovely breakfast. Following us taking showers and getting ready, it was time for the tour. The tour guides showed us around the city and as we were on the tour, we jumped straight into every single activity there is to do. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing. Even though I don’t smoke, cigars are something that are widely used in Cuba. So, one puff wouldn’t hurt. After our morning and afternoon endeavors, we stopped by La Guarida in Havana for a lovely dinner at the top floor of the restaurant. He is more than you could ever ask for.
Jey always seemed to have a tough exterior, but he was a huge softie for anything romantic. We later arrived back at our villa and where a trail of rose petals and sensuous candles led into the bedroom. “Now… what is this Joshua?!” You said turning to him with a sly smirk on your face.
“Its some time alone that you deserve”.
As we have both known from experience… we had to blow out all of the candles first. Jey then took my waist into his hands and held me tight. As if he didn’t want to let go. We started to make out with one another, our tongues fighting for dominance, and Jey winning the battle. He gently laid me on top of the comfort heart shaped bed and pulled the zipper of my short bodycon dress down. Jey started to my massage my breasts as if he were yearning for them. I slid the rest of my dress down my body, as Jey continued his assault on my breasts. “Mmmm…-, it feels so good baby”. I moaned to my husband as he said, “Imma make you feel something real good.”
He quickly removed my panties and flipped me over to all fours. Jey pushed his hand into the middle of my back to get me to arch. “That’s just how I like it baby, stay like that”. I then heard him pulling off his shirt and unbuckling his belt from his slacks. His pants made a thud onto the white marbled tiled floor and the bed plummets down as he arrived on top of it. “Aaaaa- oooHhh my goddd”. I moaned loudly as Jey dove right into my wetness. His tongue basically playing mind games on me. It felt like I didn’t know where I was.
“Shit tastes so fucking good mama, I could eat it all day if I could.” His words of appreciation make me gush out even more. The intimacy levels were through the roof as he paused his eating to finally give me what I’ve been wanting.
He entered me so smoothly, as my cunt was slick. “Damn baby, it’s like a waterfall up in here. That’s what I do to you… huh?!” Jey said. “Yes baby that’s what you do to me, now please fuck me.” “My pleasure.” Jey said as he started to profoundly pound into my hot sex. My moans couldn’t stop, the pleasure was just too much. “uhh-huh—hhhh”, my moans started filling the room. Jey started to pull on my hair and spank me repeatedly. “You like that shit.. huh?!” He said. “Ye-ssss, I love ii-ttt, give me more”. And Jey did as you wished. It felt as if he was in your stomach, as that thought crossed your mind. Jey put his hand onto your stomach and said, “You feel that baby, I’m in your stomach.” You took your hand from the sheets and placed in onto your stomach.
He really was in my stomach
I felt his cock bulge into my stomach and my eyes rolled back. Jey continues to give it to me and I felt my climax reaching its point. “Baby, I’m gonna cum.” “Go ahead baby, I’m there with you”. Jey said as his thrust became sloppy and grunts lowered. We both reached our peaks at the same time. I lied flat on the bed and Jey right beside me. “That was so good baby, we gotta do it like that every time”. Jey said with his forearm over his face. “But, we need more time alone before that.”
“You know I got you on that baby.” Said Jey smiling at you.
Just some more time alone.
THE END.
Let me know what you guys think about this and if I should write for more members of the Bloodline. Maybe even for other superstars

Hi there. How are doing? I saw requests are open and I just had to put something in. Could I please have Zoro (or Sanji, I put both because I can’t decide), with a female reader who is their best friend as well as girlfriend who joins the Strawhats at the same time as them? Like how did they join? Did they come at the same time or did their boyfriend come back for them so they could join the crew? I hope that makes any sense. Thank you.
zai says:G5 TRAILER GOT ME ON THAT GRIND. also new format for when people ask for specific gender readers💯
ˏˋ«────── « 𓆩♡𓆪 » ──────»
RORONOA ZORO
Tumblr media
this goes for both of them but i see his girlfriend joining the crew like how usopp did, luffy saw her as an ally so therefore his friend so basically she’s held hostage the minute they have a conversation
you run into luffy when he walks around the town with koby loudly lookin at zoro, which was one of the dumbest things he did
“you’re looking for zoro? what for?” luffy looked at her with bright eyes, he’s easy to read and it was clear he was glad she asked “well im gonna get him to join my crew!” she laughed loudly then regained her composure “…you serious?” (louis reference)
you still showed him around anyways as you explained the predicament your boyfriend was in, and luffy being luffy being himself took it upon himself to talk to him which caused her to roll her eyes. you try to stop him because the only reason y’all are on the island is because of the deal he made but ofc luffy don’t listen
when he asks zoro to join his crew you have to bite back a laugh because he was literally held hostage
he turns around “hey! what are you laugin for you’re joining my crew too!” she looks around and points to herself with a single brow “hm? what me too? i don’t think so i don’t plan on becoming a pirate. you boys have your fun.” she laughed and looked at the two. once she locked eyes with zoro she fought the urge to roll her own, his eyes screamed “if i’m in this you are too.”
SANJI
Tumblr media
you talk to luffy when sanji is being stubborn. honestly, luffy takes a liking to you and he wants you to join his crew too. in his mind if he could get both of y’all on his crew the more gang the better
she taps the pirate on his shoulder and smiles “i heard what you said to sanji a while ago. if you really want him to join your crew i’ll talk to him for you.” she leans against the railing of the balcony and looks out at the sea “from what i’ve been told he thinks he owes the old man something you know? he’s trying to pay off some debt he gave himself. but” she turns to face the captain of the straw hats “i want him to join your crew. you seem like a good guy and he’s not going to achieve his dream by sticking around here.”
nami totally loves you too by the way! she’s all “hey if he can’t join the crew why don’t we take y/n instead i like her more”
luffy swears up n down he not leaving till sanji joins his crew. he asks you about sanji but you can only do so much because sanji is his own person! the minute sanji decides to join luffy’s crew he talks to you first
“i think it’s time for me to leave this place y/n.” he sits against the outside wall and takes a slow drag from his cigarette “you don’t have to come with me of course i know how much you love it here.” she gently laughs “yeah because there’s nothing like a sea restaurant and serving pompous marines…you know that luffy guy made me an offer to join his crew too.” he’s eyes widen and he quickly turns his head to look at you “he did?!” she nods “so it sounds like the straw hats have two new members huh?”
when y’all save nami she’s so excited that she’s no longer the only girl on the crew. she’s totally your wing woman and if you need any alone time with sanji she has your back

I JUST READ YOUR KILLUA RELATIONSHIP HEADCANONS AND I AM SCREAMING. I was wondering if you could please do some domestic Killua headcanons, they don't have to be married headcanons because i know some people aren't comfortable with it. Thank you, take care!
Domestic Killua Zoldyck Relationship Headcanons
Author's note: Hi anon! I'm so glad that you liked my other headcanons so i give you these!
❥ He's used to waking up early for training and stuff, because he always had to for training when he was younger but now that you've gotten him addicted to sleepy morning cuddles and now he complains to no end whenever either you or him have to get out of bed
❥ Like the poor boy will so firmly in denial
❥ "Killua, Love, we have to get going, it's 6am."
❥ "No, it's not, go back to bed, baby."
❥ He has great memory and is always double or triple checking his bag or pockets to make sure he hasn't forgotten anything, so he almost never forgets anything and this helps you out too because he likes to check you're things and packs anything you've forgotten for you along with a little note wishing you a good day.
❥ THIS MAN CAN COOK
❥ I know people may think this is kind of a stretch but I headcanon that before he ran away, he learned a lot from the cooks working at his family mansion.
❥ It also really feeds his ego when you compliment his cooking skills lmao. Also he 110% uses his claws to cut up food.
❥ "Hey, pretty face, get me a knife, please?"
❥ "They're all dirty, hold on, let me wash one for yo- okay then."
❥ He still trains pretty often like around 4/7 days a week, so not as much as he used to but he's still staying on top of his game, more so out of habit than him wanting to but he does still enjoy it.
❥ But lets remember that he has a very, very, very large amount of stamina so he can train for a long time.
❥ So more often than not, you get tired before him so you go to get a drink or eat and just watch him workout, you know, for ideas for things to next time, definitely not check him out, no sir 😭
❥ Going grocery shopping with him will go one of two ways. Either, he has a list, he’s a man on a mission, he’s determined to stick to the list, he’s a man with a vision, nothing shall sway him.
❥ Until he enters the store and sees some new chocolate or candy that he hasn’t tried. All that resolve? Gone.
❥ You end up getting things that you guys actually need and he’s just standing there with like 50 packs of whatever it is that he bought lmao 😭
❥ He likes to take you on at least one date every week. But he’s started avoiding parks, (unless you want to go ofc) because once a little kid called him an old man because of his white hair and poor Killua practically died.
❥ When you two were decorating your shared home, he wanted pretty neutral oe dark colours but he caved when asked for a brighter colour scheme but he, to this day, still says it looks like a Teletubbie threw up in there, but he loves it.
❥ Movie nights happen often but he didn’t want to watch titanic at first because he said, “It’s going to be so boring and lame.” but cue him at the movie literally a sobbing mess😭
❥ He never recovered lmao
❥ He tried to start a flower garden and just forgot about it for a week and all the flowers died. He restarted it but you take care of it for him because he’s still pretty forgetful about it but he’s convinced he’s done it all himself because you decided not to tell him.
❥ You know that one meme that’s like, “You’ve been home for an hour and a half and not even once, not one time have you tried to cuddle me and it’s pissing me the fuck off, I want my fucking cuddles.”? Yeah that’s him, he gets so moody without physical contact from you, it’s hillarious.
❥ He likes to make fun of people who can’t do basic house chores but then you walk in on him wrestling a fitted sheet and swearing like a sailor😭
❥ He can cook, as I’ve mentioned before, but he also like junk food and it won’t do shit to him because of his fast metabolism.
❥ You guys have a cat named flip-flop (thank killua for that) and he SPOILS it so much.
❥ “Come on, Y/n, Flip-flop would never scratch the curtains. Isn’t that right Flip-flop?” And it meows like it’s agreeing.

Delta Landscaping Chapter 11: Right on Target
Tumblr media
Series Summary: In this AU, the boys of Delta Force start a new business post-Colombia.
Series Masterlist | Chapter 11 A03 Link
Rating: Explicit (18+) No smut in this one, just some angst.
Word Count: 6.8k
Previously on As the Mule Falls: We got a heavy dose of Frankie, learning a bit about his backstory as well as the relationship between his sister, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. Valeria is a detective, literally. Did you catch who her partner was? 😉 Benny signed up for a fight a little sooner than he’d like, but thanks to Will and Connor, he’s going to start training. The Neighborhood Watch learned a bit about Cousin Joel thanks to Melissa’s research.
On this Episode: Frankie is still in Dallas, being the best uncle. We get a scene with the Pikes. Will and Katie get in their own heads. Benny and Santiago go to Melissa’s for a consultation. Connor helps scout some of Omar’s fights. There’s a Target run, literally. Will and Katie go to Target on the hunt for birthday gifts for Olivia’s boys. Will and Katie open up. (I made a little moodboard for this episode).
Chapter Warning: Difficult parent relationships. Unsupportive partners. Domestic Marcus Pike comes with his own warning.
If you ever have questions about any of the content, please reach out. The last thing I want is for someone to have a negative reaction. Overall this is a happy, silly series but it is grounded in some reality.
*Cue the theme music and roll opening credits*
TUESDAY
“Hey Hermano, how’s it going? How’re the kids?”
“Oh they’re great, they’re already so big, Pope” Frankie chuckled. Santiago called to tell him that the cleaning lady needed to reschedule for later in the week. Frankie had a few moments to himself while Valeria and Alyssa got the kids ready for bed so he was happy to catch up with his friend. “Leia is so beautiful man, and Antonio is a lot of fun. Took him to his first Rangers game today.”
“Nice! He like it?”
“Loved it, especially once V told him I used to play. I bought him a baseball and we found an old glove of mine Pops kept. We’re gonna toss the ball around when he gets home from school tomorrow.”
“I’m glad you’re having a great time man, I really am.”
“Thanks, me too,” Frankie smiled to himself. “How’re things there? You behaving?”
“Funny,” Santiago rolled his eyes. “Yes. I’ve been busy, had a date last night, and may have another one tonight.”
“Nice. You been over to Benny and Will’s?”
“No, haven’t been that way at all since you left. But I will tomorrow, Benny and I are headed over to Melissa’s.” Frankie gave a sarcastic grunt, prompting Santiago to fill in the gaps. “I texted him earlier today, by the way. We’re all good. Did you know he signed up for a fight?”
Frankie sighed, “Will told me. I wish Benny would have said something before he called Herb. That guy’s going to feed him to the damn wolves.”
“You think it’s going to be bad, huh?”
“Not if we can help it. The guy was a boxer, so not the most ideal match-up for Benny’s style, but we’ll figure it out. When I get back we have to make sure he’s sticking to his training. Hoping this compressed timeframe makes him focus.”
“Yeah, he doesn’t have a lot of time to prep, huh?”
“No, but if anyone could do it, it’s Ben. Oh shit, I gotta go. I have to read the kids their stories.”
“Tio Francisco to the rescue!” Santiago laughed. “Ok man, hey I’ll see you in a few days. Can you text me your flight stuff Thursday night? I’ll set an alarm for myself for Friday so I don’t forget.”
“Sounds good man.”
WEDNESDAY
Will shuffled into the kitchen, surprised Benny wasn’t already up making himself an egg white omelet and coffee. Another difficult night of sleep made Will extra groggy, so he grabbed one of the larger coffee mugs and brewed two K-cup pods in succession. This morning he had an early volunteer shift at the VA after switching shifts with someone the day prior. He wanted to have time to come home and get ready for whatever the evening may hold with Katie.
Although they were on a mission to buy birthday presents for Olivia’s twins, Will hoped they would have some time to hang out afterward too. He was enjoying getting to know Katie. She was funny, smart, and had a calming presence, which he didn’t realize how much he needed. It was nice to have someone other than the guys to talk to.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of heavy steps coming from down the hallway. Benny turned the corner, his red and black basketball shorts slung low on his hips. His silver pendant rested in the patch of hair on his chest, glimmering as the sunlight caught it. Will assumed Benny had a shitty night too based on the state of his brother’s hair, which was sticking up in various directions.
“Hey man,” Benny yawned as he walked towards the coffee maker.
“‘Sup Ben.”
“You’re up early.”
“Can say the same for you,” Will leaned against the kitchen island watching as his brother grabbed some coffee creamer from the refrigerator.
“Hmpf,” Benny scoffed.
“Shitty night?”
“Yea. You?”
“I’ve had better,” the corner of Will’s mouth slightly went up. “What’s the plan for today?”
“Welp, I’m gonna go to the gym here soon, or go for a run, I haven’t decided, maybe both. Pope’s coming over around lunch and we’re going to Melissa’s.”
“That will be interesting,” Will chucked.
“Yeah, no shit. Anyway, we’ll see how that goes. But I was thinking of having Connor over later. Gonna start to go over some film of this Omar guy. The kid found some of this guy’s fights on YouTube.”
“Oh really? Nice, that’s good.”
“Yeah, figured we could order some pizzas or something if you want in on that.”
“Oh ah,” Will rubbed the back of his neck. “I have plans tonight.”
Benny perked right up at the sound of this, the corners of his mouth going up slowly before he was full-on grinning. “Oooo, what plans do we have tonight?” He waggled his eyebrows.
“Nothing like that,” Will rolled his eyes. “We,” he pointed to Benny and then back to himself, “need to get a gift for the twins. Party’s on Saturday and I don’t want to scramble at the last minute. I mentioned it to Katie and she said she’d help me out.”
“Oh, I’m sure she’s going to help you out in more ways than ow-” Benny feigned an injury, even though all Will did was push him in the chest. “You can’t injure me, I need to be in fighting shape,” Benny could barely get that out without busting into a fit of laughter.
Will tried to keep a neutral face, but he cracked a smile. “Don’t be dramatic. And I’m not trying to put any pressure on it man, she’s nice. I’ve … I dunno, I’ve liked having a friend.”
“I’m your friend,” Benny offered, giving some puppy eyes coupled with a dramatic pout.
“You are Bean, but with her, it’s…different.”
“How different are we talking?” His eyes narrowed over his coffee cup as he took a sip.
“I’m,” Will sighed. “I’m trying to figure that out. There’s clearly something there, but I don’t know what that something is right now. I...I don’t want to mess shit up.”
“I get it, she’s special to you, I can see that,” Benny smiled. “She’s cool as shit and for what it’s worth she seems to really dig you too. She’s always all smiles when you’re around.”
Will got a distant look in his eyes, which Benny knew well. His brother was processing, trying to sort out his thoughts.
“Look, don’t try and figure it all out on your own,” he clapped his brother’s shoulder. “Have fun. Enjoy time with your …um…friend. See what happens…”
“Yeah, we’ll see.”

“Vic? Vic, where are you?” Marcus called out as finished buttoning up the cuffs of his dress shirt. He and his family were living in a short-term apartment the local FBI office set up as part of his relocation package. It was…cozy…to say the least and his wife, Victoria, was chomping at the bit to close on their dream home and finally move in.
He came around the corner to their kitchenette, where Victoria was busy cutting up some strawberries to top Nicolas’ stack of pancakes. The boy quietly sat at the coffee table in the living room doodling in a coloring book, while his little sister Mariella happily sat in her highchair smearing some yogurt around. Victoria looked up as she heard Marcus’ footsteps, her eyes softening at the sight of her husband.
“It’s not a big place, Marc, I can’t go far,” she laughed as Marcus came up behind her, kissing her neck. “Mmm, I like this suit. Que guapo,” she turned around in his arms, straightening his tie before resting her hands on his chest.
“You know you’re as beautiful now as when I first saw you?” He wrapped his arms around her waist, making her giggle as he kissed her.
“Ewwww no kissies!” Nicolas called over, prompting Marcus and Victoria to pull away from each other with a smirk.
“Hey! I just love your mom, Nico,” Marcus smiled over to his son. “Besides, I have some good news.” His eyebrows shot up and he was trying to suppress a big smile.
Victoria tilted her head to the side, observing her husband. He was usually chipper, especially in the mornings, but something seemed different. “Ok, shoot, what is it?”
“Ah, I thought you’d never ask!” He put his arms on her shoulders, squaring her up to look at him. “What if I were to tell you, we’d be able to cook breakfast in our own kitchen by next week?”
There was a pause as Victoria took in what Marcus said before glee danced across her face. “Oh my gosh, are you serious?” She squeaked, throwing her arms around his neck as he lifted her off the ground.
“Just got a text from Ethan. Everything went through, the sellers are going to virtually sign. We could close as early as Monday, but since you start work next week I wanted you to tell me what you want to do.”
“Shit…I mean shoot,” her eyes cut over to Nicolas, who was in his own little world coloring a dog with a green marker. “Well, let me talk to the school and see what we can do. Vanessa is moving down this weekend, so she can at least help with the kids. I can’t believe we’re so close!”
Marcus smiled back at her, the corners of his eyes crinkling. “Whenever you want to do it, he said he could make it happen.”
“Ooo, actually, I wonder if we can make Monday work! Tuesday is the 4th so I’ll be off and daycare is closed, we can start to move some stuff that day.”
“I think that’s a great idea, I’ll text Ethan later,” he kissed her forehead.
“Mariella!” Victoria turned around to see her baby, smearing yogurt around her high chair. Just as she was about to reach into her hair, Marcus intervened.
“Slow down there pumpkin,” he cooed. “You eat the yogurt, see,” he pantomimed eating the yogurt, which prompted a fit of giggles from Mariella.
The ring of his phone alarm snapped Marcus back to reality. “Ugh, shoot, I have to get going.” Victoria gave him an exaggerated pout, which turned into a smile as he kissed her. “Have a good day. I love you.”
“Te amo,” she kissed him back.

Today’s workout was a tough one for Benny evidenced by the way his shirt drenched with sweat clung to him. His muscles felt heavy, no doubt due to the quick ramp-up in activity thanks to his upcoming fight. He decided today called for some cardio and weight lifting.
As he walked through the front door, he figured he had just enough time for a quick shower and a power nap before Santiago showed up. It was times like this he was thankful his friend was always late to everything. He decided to take a quick detour to the couch, sprawling out to stretch his muscles a bit. As he scrolled through Instagram his eyes got heavier and heavier and eventually, he closed them for just a moment.
Pounding at his front door combined with his phone vibrating on the coffee table woke him with a bit of a startle. As if by instinct, he immediately shot up and took in his surroundings, on the defensive in case any threats were around. Realizing he was in his own home, and not in a jungle with a rifle in his hands, he blinked and slowed down his breathing. He heard his name being called and once he registered it was Santiago’s voice, he let out a breath and opened the door.
“Hey Pope,” he gave a half smile, ushering Santiago inside.
“You look like shit, you just wake up?”
“Fuck you….maybe.” He ran his fingers through his hair and his eyes narrowed. “The fuck is that?” He pointed at Santiago’s neck. “Someone give that to you or d’you get so desperate you used the vacuum cleaner, ow!”
Santiago smacked him upside the head with one hand while the other covered his neck. “First of all, fuck off. Second of all, yes someone gave it to me.”
Benny tilted his head. He couldn't help the accusatory look that swept across his face.
“I went on a date last night, nice girl I found on an app…and before you make a smartass comment, it was a real dating app.”
Benny threw his hands in surrender, “I didn't say anything. You planning on seeing her again?”
“I dunno we'll see.”
“Well…she certainly um…left her mark,” Benny was ready this time, blocking Santiago's arm and the two play fought for a second.

The day was dragging on painfully slow for Katie. The start of a new month meant lots of planning meetings where people droned on and on about goals while offering the most bullshit rah-rah speeches for motivation.
She'd been texting with Megan off and on all day about random things, their usual daily stream of consciousness coupled with funny memes and gifs.
Megan: So Wine Wednesday? 🍷
Katie: Can't. I have some errands to run tonight.
Megan: Oh what's on tap? An exciting run to Target?
Katie: Damn, actually yes. Am I that predictable? I'm going to get a gift for the twins.
Megan: Wait, I thought you already got them those Lego sets?
Damn, she doesn't miss anything.
Katie took a deep breath before composing the next text, knowing what the response was going to be.
Katie: I did, I'm helping Will.
She waited, no immediate quippy response. Instead, she saw the chat bubbles start and stop before she finally got a response.
Megan: Nice! What else do you have planned 👀😏
Katie: Not sure, I told him I'd help him wrap it. Figured we'd pick up dinner. Idk I haven't planned it too much.
Megan: Yes, please help him wrap it. 😆
Katie: What's that supposed to mean?
Megan: Make sure he wraps his 🍆
Katie: I'm sorry, did David steal your phone? Where is Megan and what have you done with her?

“So you have any idea what she may want us to do?” Benny readjusted his baseball cap, flipping it backward as he and Santiago walked over to Melissa's.
“Just vaguely, some stuff in the backyard, I don't know the specifics.”
“Hmpf.”
“What?” Santiago countered with a pointed tone.
“Just, you're not one to jump at the chance to get your hands dirty. It's one thing to help us because we force you, but it's something else for you to do it willingly.”
“I'm trying to be nice. Besides, who knows? Could be fun…I had a lot of fun fixing up your place. It was nice for us all to…I don't know, be together again. Working on something and seeing it come together.”
This admission made Benny stop in his tracks. “Damn, Pope…that's…really nice, man. It's nice to hear you say that,” his face softened, one of the corners of his mouth curling up as he reached for Santiago's shoulder.
Santiago gave a forced smile before clearing his throat, “ok, enough with the sappy shit. Let's go.”
Santiago rang the doorbell and the door flew open a few seconds later. Melissa was all smiles, although Benny noticed her head slightly cock to the side at one point when Santiago turned his neck and his hickey was visible.
It was a rather quick consultation. She had a blank canvas to work with in her backyard. Benny brought his notebook and quickly started to sketch a few ideas down which she loved. They went back and forth a bit, Benny drawing and erasing several times since she was a bit indecisive as to the placement of a few things. They finally landed on a couple of flower beds, some rockwork, and a few palm trees. Nothing too elaborate. They reasoned it would take a couple of weekends to do at most.
“Can I keep this Benny? I'll show Danny when he gets home this weekend and then we can start. Maybe next week?”
“Yeah, of course, wanna take a picture of it on your phone? May be easier to have a digital copy.”
“Oh yeah, sure.” She snapped a couple of photos of the pages in his notebook. “Well, thank you boys again. I'll uh…see you around.” And with that, she politely ushered them out, closing the door a bit forcefully.
Benny waited until they were well down the block before he broke the silence. “Damn, she's maaad at you.”
“Huh?”
“Dude, she barely looked at you. It's the most she and I have ever talked. Your little friend there seemed to rattle her,” he gestured towards Santiago's neck.
Santiago shook it off, “Nah. I think you're reading into it.” Wanting to change the subject, he quickly transitioned to asking what Benny and Will were up to this evening.
“Will's hanging with Katie and Connor is coming over to watch some fights with me. Wanna help?’
“Sure. Yeah, sounds good.”

When Will arrived back from his shift, Benny and Santiago were on the couch playing a video game. Well, Benny was playing, Santiago was cursing up a storm, annoyed that he couldn’t beat Benny. Will was a little surprised to see Santiago still there, but the two seemed to be having fun, despite Santiago’s frustration. Laughing to himself, Will went down the hall to his bedroom, deciding to check in on Frankie before he got ready.
Will: How's uncle life treating you?
Frankie sent a couple of photos. One of him and Antonio all smiles at a Rangers game wearing matching shirts and the other of him lying on the ground of Valeria’s living room with Leia crawling all over him with the biggest smile across his face.
Frankie: So fun. They're great, you'd love them.
Frankie: How's Ben?
Will: Eh, he's ok. He's been training and tonight he's going to watch some of the guy's fights
Frankie: Benny? Watching film? Holy shit, if Coach Montoya could see him now.
Will: No shit right?
Will: Well, hey, I don't want to keep you. I'm glad you're having fun. Give the kids a kiss and tell Vale and Lys I said hi.
Once he was showered and dressed, Will walked back into the living room, a soccer game now on the TV.
“Ok, ah…don't wait up for me,” Will smirked as he grabbed the keys off the hook and checked to make sure he had his wallet and phone.
“Oh don't worry we won't, you kids have fun tonight,” Santiago winked.
Will tried to quickly, but nonchalantly leave before his brother could make a smartass comment. Unfortunately for him, Benny was too quick and managed to make a joke about not being a fool and wrapping his tool. Will rolled his eyes and walked out the door, hand raised in the air giving his brother the finger as he closed the door.
Truth be told, it has been a while since Will had sex. He was confident in his abilities, thanks to years of practice, but Katie was different. She wasn’t some random hookup, she was someone he could see a relationship with – the problem was he wasn’t quite sure what type of relationship that would be. He pushed aside that thought and got in his Jeep for the quick drive down the block.
When he parked, Katie was already walking out the door, ready to hop in and go. She looked effortlessly beautiful, her hair up in a ponytail with a baseball cap on. Will recognized her leggings, it seemed she had a lot of the same style just in different colors. Practical, he reasoned. She paired them with an oversized Star Wars-themed T-shirt. It was from the newer stuff Will wasn't as familiar with.
“Hey, thanks for picking me up,” she said as she climbed into the Jeep, reaching over to give him a quick hug, which he reciprocated. She breathed in his scent, which smelled like Irish Spring soap.
“Course. You're the one helping me after all,” he pulled back slightly and smiled, his hand lingering on her back just a beat before he let go and returned to face forward to put the car in reverse. “You have a good day?” He turned around looking out the rear window, one hand on the back of her headrest as he reversed out of the driveway.
“Not bad, halfway through the week so that's exciting. How about you?”
“Good, easy. Had an early volunteer shift this morning.”
“Ooo how was CVS? Pick up anything exciting?”
He laughed. “No, Mr. Andrews switched it up today and wanted to go to Walgreens.”
Katie exaggeratedly gasped, “Whaaat? No way! Look at him coming out of his shell.” She smiled as they continued their small talk on the short drive over to Target.
As they walked up to the store Will slightly turned and pointed at her shirt, “I gotta ask, who's on your shirt.”
She stopped walking. “Wait. Are you serious? I thought you were a Star Wars fan.”
Will smirked. “I am, of the original stuff. I haven't really paid attention to anything recent.”
“You don't…you haven't watched The Mandalorian? Isn't Boba Fett your favorite?” She pointed to the tattoo on Will’s forearm.
“Mandalorian…that's the one with baby Yoda right?”
Katie dramatically clutched both hands to her chest. “His name…is Grogu.”
Will laughed as he grabbed a cart, leading the way to the toy section.
“The Mandalorian is seriously so cool, you'd love it,” she knocked her shoulder into his. “We should watch it!” She offered with a hopeful smile.
“Yeah ok, I'm willing to give it a shot since it comes so highly recommended. I trust you,” he smirked.
She gave him a quick smile and returned her gaze ahead, but he could still see her smiling out of the corner of his eye. When they reached the toy aisle, Katie went through a bunch of different options. Will was adamant about finding something different for each of the boys, figuring they each had their own distinct personalities and interests.
Katie knew one of the boys was really into card tricks, so Will picked out a magic set. The other was obsessed with Fortnite, something Will knew absolutely nothing about. Luckily, Katie's best friend at work had a son about the same age who was equally as obsessed with it, so she knew enough to navigate the selection. She also texted Olivia to make sure the boys didn’t already have what they picked out. Will was thankful for her due diligence since they were able to make a quick swap. Apparently, David and Ty had already bought one of the items Will picked out.
The pair was efficient, a little too efficient. Will didn’t want their trip to end. He was having fun just walking up the aisles, so he suggested a loop through the store. It was surprising to him to see all the random stuff that ended up finding its way into the cart. He reasoned it had something to do with the fluorescent lights or some subliminal messaging in the soft rock playing through the store’s speakers. It gave him flashbacks to his fiance who could not be trusted inside a Target by herself for fear she'd buy the whole damn store.
It was amusing to see how excited Katie got over the most mundane things. She smelled nearly every new scent of hand soaps and she went absolutely giddy over these fabric bird figurines donned in various themed outfits. But what Will enjoyed most was seeing her smile. Based on the limited knowledge he had about her recent past, it sounded like she hadn’t had much to smile about.
When they reached the checkout, Katie emptied the cart putting all of her stuff down followed by the birthday gifts. She slid a divider between the two sets of items.
“What’re doing?” He furrowed his brows, reaching for the divider and putting it back.
“It's so the cashier knows whose stuff is whose silly. You really don't do a lot of shopping huh?”
Will rolled his eyes, “I know what that thing means, but no I'm taking care of it.” He started to reach for his wallet.
“What? No I…”
“I insist,” he cut her off. “This…has been a lot of fun and you saved my ass by texting Liv. Please? I want to.”
She sighed, resigned to the fact that she wasn't going to convince him. “Fine. Under two conditions.”
“Shoot,” he smirked, leaning forward onto the cart’s handles. He was amused at how quickly she folded.
“One. I get dinner. You keep that in your pants,” she motioned towards the wallet in his pocket. There were a couple of teenagers in line behind them who started giggling since all they could see was Katie pointing to Will’s pants. “Fuck,” she brought her palm to her forehead. “You know what I mean.”
“I do,” he laughed, putting his hands in his pockets. “Ok, go on, what's the second condition.”
“I get to name him Will,” she picked up one of the fabric bird figurines and held it to Will. The bird was decked out in the stars and stripes, fitting for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
He rolled his eyes and chuckled, “Sure, Kat.”

“Is pepperoni ok?” Benny looked between Santiago and Connor to confirm before placing his delivery order.
“Yeah that works for me,” Santiago nodded.
“Thanks, Benny,” Connor chimed in.
“‘Course. Thanks for helping me scout the competition,” he winked.
After placing the order Benny went to the kitchen to grab a few cans of soda. He placed the assortment on the coffee table and Santiago quickly grabbed coasters for them all, knowing how annoyed Will would be by rings on his coffee table. Benny was about to sit down when he realized he had forgotten something and ran back to his room. He emerged a few moments later with his trusty notebook in his hand and a pencil.
“Ok, I'm ready now!” He plopped down on the couch.
“You're taking notes?” Santiago looked over a bit confused.
“Yeah…you used to take notes when we'd get briefed on missions, what's so different?” Benny countered.
“You're right Benny, sorry. So…where's this guy from?”
“Well, I looked him up and he's from Queens.” Connor offered as he queued up the first video.
At the mention, Santiago perked up, “The guy's from New York?” Connor nodded, looking at Benny confused. “What's his name again?”
“Uh, Omar Assarian.”
Benny side-eyed Santiago, “What, you know this guy?”
“No, I don't, but I may know people who do. I mean, I did grow up in New York so, I dunno let me see.” Santiago started typing away at his phone as Benny nodded to Connor to start the video.
They intently watched the fight and then another and then another. Benny would ask Connor to pause the video every now and again so he could take some notes. He keyed Connor into some of Omar's strengths and weaknesses along the way, noting that the man had great footwork, which made sense given his boxing background.
“You think you can beat him Benny?” Santiago cut in.
“I think so. As long as I can get him to the ground and off his feet. Not really looking to get punched in the face by a boxer if I can help it.”
“I guess I never asked, do you have like a specialty or something?” Connor asked, taking a bite of his pizza.
“I'm good at a lot of things,” Benny laughed to himself. “Uh, I started off as a wrestler, it was one of the sports I did in high school. So I'm good at submissions I guess, and grappling. I also learned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which helps with the submissions. MMA to me is like…a game of chess. I know you see all of these kicks and punches and shit, and I can do that too, but there's something about finding that…weakness in an opponent and just exploiting it. That’s what I like the most.”

“There, all set,” Katie smiled as she finished curling the ribbon of the last gift she wrapped. She looked over to Will, who was sitting cross-legged next to her on the floor of her craft room.
His eyes softened when they met hers, the corners of his mouth perking up. “Perfect. Thank you, I uh…couldn't have done it without you.” She looked down and brushed his compliment aside, starting to pick up the scraps of wrapping paper and ribbon. “Besides, if I'd gone with Ben, we'd probably still be in the toy section,” he laughed. “We would have come home with a bunch of shit. I didn't realize there were so many different kinds of Nerf guns. Lil Bean would have lost his damn mind if he had that many options as a kid.” He chuckled, relieved to see her laughing.
“Wait…Lil Bean?” She furrowed her eyebrows, clearly wanting Will to fill her in on the apparent nickname.
“Ha, yea that's what we called him growing up. Joel really is the only one who still calls him that consistently, I guess because he's the one who came up with it,” he chuckled, clearly reminiscing on some fond memories. “Benny has always been tall and lanky, like a string bean.”
“Aww…poor Benny!” She stuck out her bottom lip.
“Ha it's ok, he ended up kinda liking the name. I think if I came up with it, it wouldn't have gone over so well.” He got up offering her his hand to stand up. “But since it was Joel’s idea he ended up coming around.”
“So, you're close with your cousins then?” She asked, her hand lingering in his just a beat longer than she intended before dropping it to quickly gather up the presents.
“Uh yeah, Joel and Tommy are basically our brothers too. And then once Frankie moved down the street we were a starting five,” he laughed, following her out of the room and back to the living room.
“Where does Santiago fall in?”
“Pope? Oh, I met him during basic training. He was my battle buddy,” she gave him a confused look, “we couldn't go anywhere on base alone, we had to travel in pairs. The two of us got assigned to each other and I guess I've been stuck with him since,” he laughed.
Katie observed Will’s demeanor. He was so much more relaxed and at ease when he talked about the guys. His bright blue eyes seemed to shimmer. It was clear to her that he cherished those he held close.
“Aw that's cute, you two make a nice pair,” she winked, sitting down on the couch. She turned on the TV and started to click buttons on the remote.
“Oh please don't tell him that,” Will groaned.
“It's so sweet that you guys have each other.” She looked over and smiled.
Will noticed her smile didn't quite reach her eyes, it was a bit guarded, a brief wave of sadness washing over her before she pushed it away. He recognized the behavior since it was something he did too. He didn’t say anything right away, letting her navigate the menu on her screen, queuing up the show.
He cleared his throat, “You have people too, right? Megan? The rest of the neighbors?”
She looked over at him with a tight smile, “Yeah. Yeah, they’ve been great. Honestly, if I didn’t have Megan…” she trailed off, shaking her head and taking a deep breath before she looked over at him. She was met with a warmth in his eyes, something she’d grown to seek. It made her feel seen. “And at work, I have Miranda. She was my first real friend when I moved down here, you’d like her she’s awesome.”
He tentatively reached his hand to her thigh, keeping an eye on her reaction, before giving her a reassuring squeeze. “Well, you have me too…ahem, and the guys. You need anything, we’re here, y’know that right?”
She put her hand on top of his, returning the squeeze. “Yeah. Thanks, Will. I appreciate that, hasn’t always been the case.”
“Look, ah, I…if you don’t want to talk about it that’s cool, but I’m here if you do.” He rubbed the back of his neck, hoping she picked up on the subject he was referring to.
“Thanks. I won’t bore you with the story, it’s not really that exciting,” she said with a tight smile.
“It’s your…reality. I don’t find that boring.”
She turned towards him, one knee tucked up on the couch. She took a deep breath. “Things started off well. Seb was charming and swept me off my feet,” she started to fidget looking down at her hands. “But as time went on, I felt like my interests mattered less and less. It was small comments here or there, but it eventually became more frequent…like, I don’t know…like I was annoying him with the things I got excited about…So eventually I just either stopped doing those things or I’d do them in secret.”
“You sound a lot like Benny,” he gave a small smile once her eyes met his. “His ex was like that. It was like living with our dad again. She really wore him down.”
“Can I ask how?”
Will cleared his throat, turning to face Katie, their knees touching as he rested his arm on the back of the couch. “Benny’s a good man. He’s a talented kid in so many ways. Good at everything, it’s actually kind of annoying sometimes,” he chuckled. “He just…finds something and suddenly he’s great at it. Happened with baseball…wrestling…the army. He was one of the most elite snipers in the whole force. He could do all of these crazy calculations in his head in seconds and was super accurate. It’s one of the reasons his call sign was Ace.”
“Wow, I didn’t realize all of that.”
“Yeah, he doesn’t like to talk about it. Don’t ever call him Ace,” he cautioned before continuing. “We’ve ah…we’ve had to do some pretty bad stuff, stuff we aren’t always the most proud of. It’s weighed on him over the years, on all of us really…” Will trailed off, realizing he had already said more than he should have. The guys all tried to be as vague as they could when it came to their military service.
“Hey, you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to but if you do I’m here,” Katie squeezed his hand.
“Thanks, Kat,” he smiled, before continuing. “For as talented as he is athletically, he’s just as talented with creative stuff. Hell, he may be even more talented when it comes to that. In his heart, he’s an artist. He draws, sings, plays guitar. He had this dream when we were younger of being a comic book artist. He’d draw these little cartoons for me, all of these elaborate stories that somehow were all connected, I don’t know how he did it,” Will laughed. “But one day our dad found his notebook and lost his shit.”
Katie tilted her head, her forehead creasing, “why?”
Will took a deep breath, “Oh, it’s complicated. But I think at the core, our dad had this vision for Ben. Pro scouts were coming to watch him play baseball before he got to high school. Basically, our dad saw anything that wasn’t revolved around sports as a waste of time. Our dad is, uh, competitive. And he took a lot of pride in the fact that his boy was a prodigy.”
“How’d that make you feel?”
“Me?” Will was caught off guard. He’d never had anyone ask him that before. “Um, I guess…I think I felt a lot of things. A little jealous, I guess. I had to work my ass off to be halfway decent at anything and Ben didn’t even have to try it seemed. But I also wanted to protect him. I saw how excited he got when it came to stuff like drawing and music, it made him happy. Like really happy. Our mom supported him as much as she could. They had a little hiding spot where she’d stash some notebooks and colored pencils and stuff for him. But my dad found it one day and threw it all in the trash. Shit, he all but set it on fire before I stepped in. Stuff at home got kinda bad after that which is why I left the second I could. I always felt a little guilty I guess, leaving Benny there by himself.”
“Is that why he enlisted? To get out of a bad situation too?”
“I think it was kind of a fuck you to our dad. He turned down a full-ride scholarship to play baseball at Texas and a contract to play in the minors. Our dad didn’t talk to him for months. Benny would call home, and if Dad answered he’d immediately give the phone to Mom. But, eventually, Benny did what Benny does and he excelled. Once he got handpicked for Delta Force, our dad started to change his tune.”
“Damn.”
“Yeah…took years for their relationship to get to a halfway decent place. I think that’s why Benny has always had a soft spot for Joel. In many ways, Joel was more like a dad to him than ours was.”
“How about you and your dad?”
“Eh, it’s…complicated. The way he treated us…our mom, it’s…not how I’d do things, I’ll say that much.”
“Well, you are your own person,” she offered her hand again to him, rubbing circles on the back of his hand. “I can see how much you love your brother and your friends. They’re lucky to have you. You’re a good man too, Will.”
Will sat quietly for a moment, his eyes sought Katie’s. He felt a warmth cascade over him. Even though he was sharing a lot about Benny, his own past was wrapped up in so much of it. Opening up like this took months with his VA therapist, but Katie listened without judgment, and with genuine curiosity.
“Sorry, I kind of unloaded all of that,” he chuckled. “I guess it’s not really something I think about a lot.”
“I hear you on that,” her eyebrows shot up, a sarcastic grin on her face.
“So what were the things you kept from your ex?”
Katie was a bit caught off guard that Will turned the conversation back to her, she hoped that he’d get distracted by his own story and forget. She should have known better, Will was too considerate of a guy to dominate a conversation.
“Oh ah...I guess a lot of the little projects I came up with. I’ve always really loved interior design. That’s what I thought I wanted to go into when I was younger. I wanted to design houses that would end up in magazines, y’know?”
“What changed your mind?”
“I have the misfortune of being good at math,” her sarcastic tone made Will laugh. “When it came time to look at colleges, my parents really wanted me to pursue a business degree. I think my dad got a kick out of me potentially following in his footsteps. I know they didn’t mean it, but they kind of always made my design stuff seem like my little side hobby rather than something I could really do. Hell, I helped my mom redesign parts of our house when I was in high school.”
“What happened when you got to college?”
“I kept collecting photos and notes of design ideas. My college dorm room looked so nice, I had people coming to me to help them with theirs. I had like an unofficial side business,” she laughed. “Then when I graduated and I was off on my own I finally had a place to make how I wanted. And then I met Seb…” she trailed off, clearing her throat. “I eventually moved into his place. He was…particular about his space so I didn’t really feel like it was mine. I felt like a visitor. Which is why I was so excited when we finally started looking at houses. He told me I could do whatever I wanted.”
“So did you?”
“Ah, yes and no. I wanted him to feel comfortable in the space, so I’d ask questions here and there to gauge what he liked and didn’t like. He’d make…I don’t know, little comments about how something looked stupid or was a waste of time. He also wasn’t handy at all so I had to do it all myself. I guess I eventually stopped caring.” She looked down, fidgeting again with her hands.
“But you have this place, right?” He gave her a small smile, motioning to the space around them. “You can make this into whatever you want.”
“Yeah. It’s an overwhelming thought, but … I don’t know, exciting too.” She looked around.
“Hey, how about instead of watching this,” he motioned to the television, which had moved to a screensaver due to the lack of activity, “we talk about your ideas for the kitchen? We can come up with a plan for the projects you have in mind.”
A big smile came across Katie’s face, excited that Will was genuinely interested in hearing what grand plans she had for the space and that he was willing to help.
Next Time on As the Mule Falls: We pick up where we left off with Will and Katie. Frankie returns home to Tampa (for real this time, I need to get him back to Florida for…reasons). The Neighborhood Watch descends upon the local skating rink for a party that’s sure to be the best in the galaxy.
A/N: Hello! Apologies for the delay in getting this chapter out! How do we feel about Katie and Will? Melissa was a bit salty about Santiago – do you think they’ll talk about it or avoid each other?
Thank you so much for reading and supporting this story. Some of these storylines are starting to come together and I’m excited about where we’re going!

So so proud of Omar. I am so happy he is let in to new types of media. SvD and DN are the biggest national morning news papers in Sweden. He has been in evening papers and might be silly but I am glad he is covered in these papers. And now also Hellenius Hörna and Så mycket bättre. Thank You TV4. Now let’s hope national radio stations let his music in as well.
Here are some bits of the interview in SvD. It resembles his Sommarprat and nothing new for us really but a really nice interview with a nice tone in it and it will reach many households in Sweden that still has morning papers…
He talks about where he was a few years ago from the interview and I think it’s beautiful that he opens up about feeling lost, experimenting and on his journey to get to know himself and feel confident being who he is and that he also dares to vocalize his dreams. Remember that Jantelagen is strong in Sweden and vocalizing such big dreams is not usual. His journey continues!! I so want for him to reach his goals❤️
They start off with his FO&O and talk a out his bringing and his mom and dad and moving to Sweden.
One thing he hasn’t touched so much on before is how being known so young affected him:
“It was the sickest thing I've ever been through. It was both a kick and very scary to break through, especially when you were alone in town or going home on the bus. I was up in Stockholm and felt very watched. It was an emotional rollercoaster.”
He takes a deep breath.
“Every single person my age has known about me since I was 14 years old. It has been very intense and probably affected me in different ways. I've probably become more shy and stick mostly to my friends that I've had for many years.”
(We know he always pick stay home and that he is very close to his friends and has a circle of friends he feels safe with. And then about after FO&O)
“I released a few singles, but then the pandemic came and everything was put on hold. That's when it started.
Omar Rudberg puts one hand in his baggy leather jacket pocket and looks out through the Connection Hall in the Slaughterhouse area, where we met on a cool autumn afternoon.
“I was incredibly lost. Both in my professional role and in myself. I had no idea who I was or what I was going to be, what I liked and didn't like.
He set out on an experimental journey.
- I tried to find myself and started hanging out very intensively with friends. We hung out every day and became almost like a collective. It was incredibly fun and above all nice to see people who were in different ways.”
(I also liked this part where he talks about his creativity: )
“In the new homeland, the song and dance continued to be palpable, as did Omar's wild imagination. By the age of eight, it was so intense that his parents took him to a child psychologist.
- What they reacted to was that I didn't need toys. I could just enter another world, be chased by dinosaurs or have the worst action movie in my head. But I wasn't crazy, the child psychologist noted, just a child.
The creativity and musical gift can be traced to the grandmother and the mother. Early on, the latter ensured that Omar participated in talent competitions, often with success.
(And then more in creativity and using it to find yourself)
- My friends and I started trying different types of clothes. We played music and got dressed up. Some tried to put on makeup and nail polish. I really experimented. Those who are not in the know immediately think that a guy who wears make-up is gay or transgender - that bothers me. Make-up should not have to have an orientation, it should be for everyone. Now I wear black eyeliner when I feel like it without being ashamed.
Playing with the outside became a way to find home more in one's inner self, and the fact that Omar was named Best Dressed Man of the Year by the magazine CafĂŠ this spring is something of a receipt for that.
- I have realized that I have to feel comfortable, stable and free with who I am if I am to be able to move forward in life. Clothes clearly play a role in that. They can also help me get into a certain character more easily.
(There is more text in YR and Karusell but he gets back to: )
“Although it is as an actor Omar has become known in recent years, it is the music he wants to focus on the most in the future. A few days ago, the new single Off my mind was released and tonight is the premiere of this year's So much better on TV4, where Omar is one of the participants.
Perhaps the participation will also be revenge for Omar as a solo artist.
- Yes, I hope people are reminded that I'm actually a singer at heart, it's music that I love the most. I'm looking forward to releasing an album eventually and especially to playing live.
A decade has passed since Omar Rudberg first broke through, when I ask what he thinks life will look like in another ten years, he first laughs at the thought of being 35. Then comes the answer:
- I want to have done the sickest gigs, have had several hits and be out on a world tour. I want to be in a Latin American TV series or movie and for my own company to be worth an incredible amount of money. I will not buy a Lamborghini, but a nice apartment for my mother so that she can be free as a bird. I want to give back everything I got from her.
He runs his hand through his slightly wavy hair and walks over to the mirror to get ready for the photo shoot.
- I would never have dared to have it this way a few years ago. Thankfully, I am much more confident in myself now.
You're not as lost anymore?
- No, I have grown a lot in recent years and now I feel stable enough to take myself forward in life. But I'm probably not quite there yet, the journey continues …

So I was browsing Tumblr since I like to do that sometimes, and bam! I got hit with a fic inspiration... Anyway here you go misfits! (This is set after the new hotel is built)
Girls' day feat. Angel Dust:
“Uh why the fuck is he here?”
Those words came out when the last of the invited arrived at Charlie’s little get-together. It was Angel Dust wearing a beautiful pink crop top and black shorts with sparkly neon pink heels as he grinned. “I was invited toots.”
“Ya got a problem with Angie?” Cherri growled at Vaggie, who lifted her hands in defense. “No, just thought he'd be with the guys..”
Angel Dust just laughed. “You're just jealous cause I can easily out girl ya toots.” He playfully sneered, fluffing up his sexy chest fluff.
Vaggie just growled a bit, though blinked as she heard the door only to see Charlie come back with the cutest looking outfit on, which was free flowing grey crop top with small sleeves that exposed her shoulders and a beautiful pair of casual jeans. Instantly she blushed a bit and looked away. “Ha, look at the blush on the fuckin’ munchkin!” Cherri chuckled, nudging her best friend Angel who joined in with a snicker. Even Niffty who sat on the couch couldn't help but giggle. “She looks like a lamp.”
Charlie pursed her lips clearly not liking the teasing. She flashed the others with her demonic red and white eyes to get them to stop. “Uh whoops, so uh what cha got in the box?” Angel laughed nervously.
“I'm glad you asked, since it's a girl's day I figured we could have a fun spa session!” The princess grinned, placing the box down and opening it.
Inside said box was a bunch of different skin care products, nail polish, scented body lotions, and much more. “I ain't one for just relaxin’ but Angie convinced me.” Cherri stated picking up one of the nail polish, a beautiful shimmering yellow like his eyes. Her face fell since it had only been several weeks since the battle with heaven.
“Seriously Cherri, ya needed it, besides we all miss our little snake.” Angel placed one of his arms around her. “Now let's see how this color looks on ya sugar tits.” He grinned trying to cheer up his best bud.
Vaggie smiled a bit. She knew the loss of Sir Pentious weighed on everyone. However, with the new hotel, it was a chance to move forward. She went over to the box and smirked. “He did like the smell of mint.” The angel held up some hand lotion to Cherri, who blinked.
“There wasn't a day where I didn't see that snake with either a cup of coffee or tea.” Angel mused as Cherri took the lotion with a nod. To her it felt weird, people actually being nice, to have had a man who complimented her mind instead of her hot as fuck body, and that kiss, fuck it had been kinda hot.
Cherri smirked a bit. “He was fun to pick on, the slimy shit.” She took off her gloves and casually applied the lotion. It really wasn't her style but she didn't mind it.
Charlie smiled a bit seeing how Cherri relaxed. She was hoping to recruit the bombardier but the woman had turned her down. “So Angel..” She smirked in a sing-song like tone. “I saw the eyes you were giving Husk. What's up with that?” She playfully poked the spider.
Angel blinked and cleared his throat. Even Cherri looked up at him and smirked evilly. “Don't you start too!” He groaned but blinked as Niffty giggled.
“I'm not one for the gay stuff, but I did notice ehehe. He always pours your drink first.” She smirked with her wide toothy grin. “I think that cat has grown soft.”
Angel blinked at Niffty, but then had a soft smile of his own. “During the before battle shit I wanted to stick by the guy and enjoy his drinks and company.” He admitted with a light blush.
“I saw you two flirtin’ durin’ the whole thing!” Cherri nudged with a grin.
Charlie squeed having the same look she had when Sir Pentious confessed his crush for Cherri to her. “I'm rooting for you Angel!”
Vaggie lightly punched his arm. “You got this.”
Angel just chuckled and hugged the girls. “Daww you ladies are makin’ me blush!” He grinned. “Now which of these would Kitty like?” He asked while releasing the girls so he could dig through the box.
Charlie smiled and picked out a gorgeous starry night nail polish. “This would look so good on you, Vaggie!” She grinned as Vaggie blinked. “Alright hon, go ahead.”
Angel chuckled seeing Charlie take out a nail care kit first. “Could you do my nails too blondie?” He asked “Sure!”
Cherri blinked being tugged on by Niffty who held up a very pretty perfume bottle. “Try this, it smells really nice!” The little maid grinned, spritzing some onto Cherri’s wrist. “Oh, it's kinda got a musky scent.” She mused as Niffty nodded. “It smells nice doesn't it?”
“Reminds me of the shit Pen would wear.” Angel replied with a smirk. “Where’d ya find that one Niff?”
“I got it from the store, I also sprayed every bottle so I could find the right one.” She snickered since she made the clerk really pissed that day.
“Ya turned the store into a mustard gas situation?!” Cherri smirked and ruffled Niffty’s hair. “Yer a fuckin’ freak, I like ya.”
Angel rolled his eyes but then looked at Vaggie and tilted his head. “Hey toots, why are ya sittin’ cross legged?” He asked with a playful smirk. “Are ya tryin’ to hide your tiny ass feet?”
Vaggie flipped him off. “I don't see you taking off your heels. So you don't get to say shit.” She retorted with a smug look.
Angel grumbled and flipped her off right back. He didn't exactly like his feet, hell when he did his pornos he begged Val to keep his sexy heels on mentioning that sick fucks would be extra horny for the mystery. Cherri looked over and got up. “Hey Angie?”
“Yeah?” Angel looked at Cherri. “Wanna try on these fuckin’ sexy ass heels?” She grinned showing Angel some beautiful black leather laced up heeled boots.
The spider demon's eyes lit up as he took the shoes. “Fucking hell Cherri Bomb, where did ya get these beauties?”
Vaggie blinked and tilted her head. “Those actually look nice…” She added seeing the beautiful pink trim along the top and sole. “I know right? Bought these bitches for Angie cause the fucker loves his sexy heels.” Cherri showed a wide grin as Angel chuckled.
Charlie giggled, seeing the heels. “What are you waiting for? Try them on Angel!” She playfully coaxed, having finished applying the nail polish to Vaggie's beautiful nails.
Angel blushed a bit however looked at the girls. “Turn around for a sec and I will.” He replied looking at his glittery heels.
Vaggie noticed his hesitation and sighed. She was going to regret this but took off her own heels to reveal cute little feet making Charlie squeak. “You want me to paint these too?” She asked as Vaggie nodded.
Angel blinked at the gesture, he then looked at Cherri who looked a bit surprised but smirked. “Don't worry Angie, I'll beat any dumbfuck who messes with ya.” The bombshell grinned patting her spider boi on the shoulder.
The pornstar gulped a bit but nodded as he started undoing the buckles of his beautiful sparkly boots. He gave Vaggie a small thankful nod as the latter smiled a bit. Soon his small cute spider-like clawed feet wiggled free, tipped with his pinkish white fur and small little claws. He looked over and spotted Charlie who had removed her own shoes revealing small red hooves. “Huh…” He smiled a bit, feeling a little less awkward thanks to the two girls.
“Here catch.” Vaggie tossed Angel some beautiful glittery neon pink nail polish. “Hey thanks Vags.” He smirked looking it over.
Cherri blinked but smirked a bit. These folks were alright in her book even if some were a stickler for the rules. “Here let me apply it.” She asked Angel who blinked. “Oh sure..”
Niffty easily grabbed one of Charlie’s hooves, making the princess yelp and started to look it over. “Ooo! Kinda like what Alastor has, except yours are smaller than his..” The maid giggled only to be accidentally kicked in the face when she touched a ticklish spot.
“Shit! Sorry Niff!” Charlie gasped, looking horrified. “Yay pain!” The maid cooed springing back up from the wall she had smacked into because of the power behind the kick. “Do it again!”
Cherri just laughed. “Damn, looks like the goody two shoes has some power. Ya practically punted the tiny bitch.” She smirked as Charlie groaned. “I didn't mean to!”
Vaggie had to shoo Niffty away to keep the maid from trying to get Charlie to kick her again. “Hey Niff, check this out, there's bleach in the next room!” Angel smirked as the maid instantly scurried off with a rabid expression and grin. “Thanks…” Charlie sighed in relief.
Angel winked at Vaggie as a ‘the favor has been repaid’ gesture. The angel smirked a bit and casually started to pamper those cute little hooves. “It's a spa day isn't it, you get some pampering too princesa.” (Princess)
Charlie blushed as Vaggie massaged the ankles. She then looked over at Angel who smirked playfully. “Aww ain't that cute, betcha two get into some fun kinky shit in the bedroom eh?” He teased as Charlie started to blush and sizzle. “I think they're those vanilla type fuckers. Looks like it anyway.” Cherri smirked as Vaggie grumbled trying to pay no mind to the teasing though her golden blush was starting to show again.
The more lewd duo laughed amused at the flustered couple's reaction, though Angel smirked a bit at his painted toe nails, he soon slipped on those beautiful boots looking more comfortable.
--
While everyone was chatting, Charlie got a phone call. “I'll be right back, babe.” She gave Vaggie a kiss on the cheek and left to take it.
Cherri and Angel smirked at Vaggie who gave a confused look. “What?”
“Hey feather duster, wanna spice yourself up for your girl?” Angel smirked holding up some lotions. “Don't cha wanna see yer blondie practically fuckin’ sizzlin’?” Cherri chimed in with a playful smirk. Niffty giggled seeing Vaggie squirm.
“I know what she likes, I don't need your help..” The angel turned away with a cute huff. Though the golden blush gave it away that she did want to.
Angel smirked and nodded at Cherri and Niffty. “This is gonna be fun.” The spider man took out a comb and some hair products. “W-wait!” Vaggie gulped while caught off guard.
After an hour Charlie came back into the room annoyed. “Husk says that my dad and Alastor are fighting again, and they nearly burned down the lobby with a cook off..” She groaned coming back into the room. “Huh?”
Cherri and Niffty blocked her view. “And done!” Angel grinned moving away. “Go ahead and let the blondie through.”
“Ehehehe, enjoy the treat princess.” Niffty bowed and scurried away.
Cherri gave a thumbs up and moved as Charlie looked very confused. “What are..” She couldn't finish her sentence as she then spotted Vaggie.
“Hi hon..” The angel blushed with her hair looking so fluffy and wavy now. There was even a braid that brought some of the bangs back to expose the soft features of Vaggie's face. Charlie just stared as the scent of both apples and lavender filled her nose. “Ha! She's speechless!” Cherri laughed and gave a thumbs up to Angel.
Angel chuckled but blinked, coming over to Charlie. “Uh hello? You there, blondie?” He poked her, and Charlie fell over red-faced. “Whoa!”
Cherri just burst out laughing as Vaggie ran over. “Ya made her a fuckin’ knock out Angie!”
“So… pwetty…” Charlie mumbled her eyes swirling with her tail out wagging. She looked like she was drunk. “Come on sweetie, let's get you off the floor..” Vaggie easily picked up Charlie who laid like a cute little snake, her face looking dopey and in love.
Vaggie looked at Angel who gave a smug look. She grumbled but fist bumped the spider twink who grinned at his work.
Though the rumbling of the hotel made this day come to an end as Lucifer was chasing Alastor who was laughing like a mad man, with Husk coming out and shaking his head, clearly not drunk enough for this shit.
(This all started because I saw Vaggie had tiny feet and remembered the fact Angel didn't like his own feet...)

Good day, I have a request to make regarding your current ao3 that you wrote.
Ok imma stop with the fancy English. I read your ao3 titled "there was nothing left for me" and absolutely adored it so I want to ask if you could write a good ending.
Like when izuru was outside talking about how unpredictable the ocean is and no amount of luck will ever bring makoto back, immediately he said that, up in the sky, is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! Its a heavily damaged helicopter hurdling towards him at mach 4. The helicopter crashes right next to him with rubble from the helicopter flying everywhere without hitting him. His curiosity gets the best of him and you'll never guess what he finds inside. A very beaten up and bloody scars makoto who looks like his on the brink of death.
That was the idea I've been brainstorming ever since I finished ur fic. So thanks for reading and incase u actually take this into consideration (I'll be very glad if u do) please take your time I don't mind waiting
(Ur fic has done crazy stuff to me like once in every 10 scenario sessions I have it's based on this fanfic Thank you so much for writing it)
ARCK TY SM!!!! That fic was the only thing that made me feel like I can't possibly write anything close to that quality anymore and needed to get more deeply into my zone but I'm glad you liked it!!!
And for the ending, it was extremely inte ded for me to make a very open-like kinda ending to ensure something like these! You can imagine ANY scenarios regarding of what happened and with the kind of ending I go for COULD lead to tons of possibilities!
It could be Kamukura destroying the foundation and still feeling empty inside, or who knows maybe he find Makoto's coffin while at it? Or maybe Makoto is *still* alive yet just wandering aimlessly after escaping and tricking everyone of his death? Who knows who knows, that's what fun about them!
And to indulged in your one of many scenarios of ending for this fic.
Kamukura wouldn't pay attention to anything else, as said, the agonizing turmoil crashing on everything he had build up for. But he *does* aware of the sound above him, and just like that his ultimate talents switched without command and stood aside a few good feet away, in a certain spot, as a vehicle crash down next to him.
I don't believe Makoto could even still be standing after surviving an execution from *Munakata* of all things, that man won't let him breath. So in this case, some of his other friends and sister had helped him out of the dire situation. Judging from Byakuya's scowl towards Hagakure it seems that it was the teller's responsibility in controlling the helicopter, but knowing Byakuya's distrust over something so life-threatening to someone like Hagakure, it seem he was suppose to be temporarily held control over it until some *bad luck* happened.
Toko was there, Komaru was there, Byakuya left his knot tying rushed to go over to Hagakure, leaving the body—
The body that was still moving. *breathing*. Though shallow and slow, definitely in pain, slightly trembles perhaps from the large injuries and the shock from literally falling from the sky. The sight of it managed to make Kamujura's skin pricked, muscles tightening, and eyes frozen to one sight of one subject. Komaru calling onto the body she held is when Kamukura can feel the freezing water washed over him and wiped the toxins in every parts of his molecules.
"Makoto please hang on—"
Makoto. He can see it clearly now, the messy hair of brown with strands sticking out in multiple places, damped with sweat, paler than necessary to be consider healthy, the while shirt soaked with red, his whole figure is writhing as if cold and taking shallow breath as if drowning, he couldn't see the calming olive eyes when the lids clenched shut, eyebrows pinching together closely that the skin wrinkles, his teeth grits and released from pain and to breath, holding onto the major blow of the injuriy that could have really taken his life dearly.
"Kamukura?" The sister called out, and for once, he paid attention, "please— please, help him– help my brother please, h-he's—"
He doesn't let her finished before his whole body moved in instinct, swiftly picking the deathly cold body that's far more than Kamukura's own, and as he made contact with Makoto, he can feel multiple talents surge through him all at once; ultimate hunter checking any possible threat on his surroundings, ultimate bodybuilder to properly hold Makoto without shaking too much of his injuries, ultimate medic to check anymore major wound aside from the one Makoto covered.
And when Makoto finally squint an eye opened to stare directly on Kamukura's clouded crimson ones, smiling in a shaky manner with a relief undertone (for once, Kamukura *understood* that. Instead of *knowing*), he spoke, in an exhale, his voice whispered; "I..... tol' you.. that I'll–.... be......back..—"
And ultimate runner to quickly take Makoto back to the base of the island.

Tumblr media
It's hot. Sweltering hot. And there's nothing on God's green earth that can provide sufficient relief except to hide from it. That is, if you're lucky to. Even then, sometimes it's not enough. It has hit record high temperatures and this type of weather was never intended for this part of the world.
It's so hot outside, Mickey decided to close the pub down for the day and let Ray work from home. There is no need for them to run around the city and if he's honest, he'd rather stay in the comfort of his air conditioned home anyways. Even the born and bred Texan can't get use to the heat.
And you? Never have to work a day in your life, but you choose to because even though your parents can afford to, you don't want to rely on them for financial support. Well, if there's a new shiny car you want, you know they'll shell out the money without question for their only child, but everyday living expenses, feeding yourself and putting a roof over your head, you want to be able to pay for it with your own hard earned money.  Also, the beauty of your job is, most days you can work from wherever you want. It's essentially a remote job and when you're not at the office, you usually work from your own flat or at a cafÊ, but today you're doing it in the comfort of your boyfriend's house. You had invited yourself over this morning when he casually mentioned that he's working from home today and he didn't have the heart or stomach to turn you away when you greeted him at the front door in a short slinky sundress with his favorite morning pastries fresh from the bakery.
Now, you're nearly finished with all your tasks so you're bored. You're just waiting for your boss to email you back for approvals and you know she can take forever to get back to you. You look over at Ray who is seated at the dining room table, working quietly. That man has not left his seat for the last five hours since this morning. Even though he's working from home, he's still dressed in his pressed jeans, button down shirt with his sleeves rolled to his elbos, waistcoat and a tie. You don't know how he does it. Your sundress doesn't even feel light enough for you to beat this heat. While you appreciate the central air Ray has in his meticulously designed house, the unprecedented 40 degrees temperature outside is affecting the performance of the air conditioning unit. At least you're not sticking to the leather couch. It's really a good thing you have nowhere to go.
You've got to admit though, you admire Ray's discipline and focus. You've tried to distract him all day to keep him on his toes - and to have some fun - and it's like he's got invisible blinders and earplugs on.  It first started small, like constant tapping your finger on the table or shaking your leg when you know he hates that.  You would make an obnoxious refreshing 'ahh' sound after every loud sip of water. You almost spit out your water once seeing the stern look Ray the gave you after you did it probably for the 50th time that day. Then it escalated to you grabbing his butt or running your fingers through his perfectly coiffed hair, flustering him for a moment. At some point you purposely dropped your pen in front of him and bent over to pick it up, but he seemed oblivious to it. You even tried to get his attention by blatantly rubbing yourself under your dress at one point while he was on a call with Mickey, but he avoided your gaze and was so concentrated on his computer screen. You're pretty sure he saw you in his peripheral vision though. For a second you might have had his attention, but he continued to work seemingly unaffected. You can now see why Mickey hired him.
With nothing else to do, you check the time and decide it's time for your lunch break.
"Ray, are you hungry?" you ask him, breaking the deafening silence in the room. You needed to hear something other than the occasional clicking and clacking from both his and your laptops.
Ray brings his wrist up to check the time.
"Very. I'm almost done with this. Should probably order takeaway. It's too bloody hot to... cook..."
Ray's sentence dies off as he looks over at you getting up from the couch and bringing your arms up above your head to give your back and shoulders and good stretch from sitting on the couch for so long, letting a moan slip out as your muscles loosen. He adjusts his glasses as his eyes wander down below your waist where the hem of your short sundress rises, stopping just at the top of your thighs, but he notices the undercurves of your ass peeking out just enough as you twist your waist from side to side. When you look over at him, Ray quickly turns his attention back to his notebook, scribbling nonsense to pretend he wasn't distracted at all.
"Yes, Daddy," you answer before letting out an exaggerated sigh.
He pauses his task, his pen in midair, to look up at you with wide eyes and look of warning. You coyly look back at him with the slightest smirk, amused by his reaction.
"What? I didn't mean anything by it," you tell him, but he's not convinced.
"It just rolled off my tongue," you shrug.
Ever since you and Ray started exploring power dynamics in your relationship, which you both enjoy very much, you like to push it a little further each time just to see where it goes. Since this is still new to you and Ray, no rules or expectations have been established yet. He is more experienced in this than you are so you're still figuring out what works for the both of you and what you want out of the experience. You typically don't call him Daddy outside of the bedroom or scene, but you're feeling playful right now.
As if on cue, the tip of Ray's tongue darts from between his pink lips, just enough to wet them before returning to its hiding place, with his gaze still on you.
"I'm going to grab some ice water. Do you want any?" You ask as you saunter over to the kitchen.
Ray hooks a finger into the collar of his shirt, tugging on it while clearing his throat.
"Uh, yeah, sure. I could use some," he answers and then starts loosening his tie and unbuttoning his waistcoat to shed the extra layer.
Ray continues to watch you when the back of your dress rises again as you reach up to grab two glasses from the top cabinet. Of course, tall man, tall shelves. You have to tiptoe and use the countertop as leverage, leaning against it and practically climbing on it, making your backside stick out a bit and allowing Ray to have a better view under your dress, but not enough to see everything. You hear Ray clearing his throat again. After successfully getting the cups, you fill each with ice and cold water from the dispenser.
You walk back to the living room, heading towards Ray and place the glass on a coaster next to him. No water rings on this oak table.
"Thank you," Ray says as he turns to look up at you. "Good girl."
His attempt to hide his smirk didn't go unnoticed. You, on the other hand, have no shame in showing how his praise affected you. You feel your cheeks getting warm - and not because of the weather - as you flash him a wide grin.
"Have you picked a place for lunch yet?" he asks after taking a gulp of his much needed ice water.
"No, not yet. What are you in the mood for?" You snake an arm around his shoulders and slide yourself onto his lap while balancing your own glass of ice water in your other hand.
Ray watches you take a sip of your water. You shriek when a drop of condensation hits the exposed skin at the top of your chest. You glance down and remove your arm from his shoulders to wipe off the water. You seize up for a moment when another droplet hits you but realize how much relief the cold water brought you. A lightbulb goes off in your head.
"Actually, I'll go pick us up some lunch, yeah?" you ask, looking back up at him, catching his eyes focused on where the water fell on you. You clear your throat and his eyes move up to meet yours.
"Uh, yeah, sure, whatever you want," Ray quickly says before shifting his attention back to his work. "I'd like to finish this, please. Off you go."
Ray gently pats your butt and you move off his lap.
"I'll be back in a splash."
You lay a quick peck on his cheek and leave your glass of water on the table before going to grab your purse. Ray notices the condensation of your glass pooling onto his pristine table and immediately wipes it down before placing a coaster under it. His eyes twitch for a moment as he looks over to call out to you but you're already out the door. You dread the heat outside, but it'll be all worth it.
***
Ray had finally taken a break. He didn't realize how stiff his muscles were until he actually got up from his seat, giving them a stretch and loosening them a bit before taking a stroll to the bathroom. All the water he’s been drinking is finally catching up to him. When he walks back to the dining and living room, he expected to find you as he thought he heard you come in, but you're nowhere to be found.
"Hm," he curiously hums. Maybe he misheard.
As he gets comfortable again to continue working, he notices a translucent neon blue plastic gun with an orange tip next to his laptop. He picks it up to inspect it, the clear liquid content sloshing around as he turns it over and shakes it. For a moment, he glances over at his laptop screen and does a double take when he sees something he did not type up in large bold letters:
"WANT LUNCH? FIND ME."
Ray adjusts his glasses and lets out a heavy sigh.
"Love, I don't have time for games right now," Ray shouts, not knowing if you are even within earshot of his voice.
When he gets no response, he just shakes his head and goes back to work, but is interrupted by his growling stomach. He ignores it, taking a sip of his water when he suddenly feels something wet and cold hit the back of his head. He immediately flinches and ducks, quickly turning around to find no one. After a quick scan, he puts the glass of water down on the coaster and cautiously looks again. Everything seems to be in place and not a soul in sight. Just then, Ray's phone rings, startling him for a second. He quickly checks his phone before turning his attention back over his shoulders.
"Yes, boss?"
While listening to Mickey, his eyes stay vigilant of his surroundings, darting around behind furniture and walls for any sign of you.
"Yes, I'll send that to you right now."
He quickly hangs up the call and slips his phone back into his pocket, turning his attention back to his laptop to send the information Mickey had requested. Just as he clicks on the "send" button, he feels another squirt hit his face. He instantly turns his head towards the direction where it came from and sees movement from behind one of the couches. He recognizes the pattern of your short dress peeking out from where you're crouching down. He wipes his face and glasses with his handkerchief and then grabs the water gun. He slowly and quietly rises from his seat with the gun pointed out in front of him, holding the plastic toy like a real one, except his finger is on the trigger because he's ready to squeeze at any given moment. There will be no warning.
After a few moments of absolute silence, you curiously poke your head up to look over the top of the couch and stiffen as soon as you make eye contact with Ray and see him heading towards you. You gasp when he starts moving quicker. You run like hell to the kitchen, using the island as a barrier. The two of you circle the island as he chases you, both trying to predict which direction each of you will go.
At some point he pauses to shoot you, but you were able to duck in time to avoid getting hit. When you pop back up and try to shoot him back, you shriek when you see him rounding the corner so you sprint off but not without getting hit in the back with water, making you squeal. You jump into the first room you see, into his study. You crouch down and hide behind one of the large accent chairs most further into the room.
You're expecting Ray to walk into the room any second as he was close behind you, but you don't hear any footsteps. In fact, it's too quiet. After a few seconds, you cautiously peek around to look towards the door, waiting for him to emerge, but nothing happens. Peeking out a little further, you carefully look around the room.
You slowly get up to your feet, trying not to make any noise. Once you've steadied yourself, you freeze when you suddenly feel something against the side of your neck and one of your arms, the one holding your own water gun, twisted behind your back. You try to wiggle and move away but his other hand swiftly comes down to grab your other arm, also pinning it behind you, rendering you helpless. You try to kick back but he pushes his body up against yours, trapping you between him and the back of the tall chair.
"Did you think you were going to outrun me?" Ray asks, holding your arms steady.
"Maybe," you huff out, still struggling to get out of his grip.
"The sun must have fried that pretty little head of yours when you went out there."
"Yeah. Maybe you should take a look at it for me."
You're not in the business of hurting Ray, but the adrenaline running through you has got you feeling a bit competitive and also bratty. You swing your head back, hoping you won't break his nose, but just enough to distract him so you can get loose. Expecting his face to collide with the back of your head, instead you quickly find yourself pushing up against the decorative wallpaper. Quick on his reflexes, Ray avoided your attempted head bash and pinned you against an adjacent wall, carefully to not hurt you, but limiting your movements even more.
"Did you seriously just try to knock me in the face?" he asks incredulously.
"I knew you would move out of the way," you lie. You really underestimated his skillset. You know his line of work, but you thought he was just a paper pusher and chauffeur and the guns were just for show.
He’s a proper gangster. You’ve never seen him use a gun before, but you suppose that’s by design. Also, your own combat skills are very limited so you're not sure what you thought would happen.
You notice something pressing against your ass and you push back against it.
“Careful, love.” Ray warns, pushing back. “Finger’s on the trigger. Don’t want to get wet now, do you?”
"How do you know I'm not already?"
You usually don't really care for guns. You've witnessed toffs showing off their toys and shooting skills, particularly the men in your social circles. Flaunting their wealth won't do since you also come from money, so they need to find other ways to get your attention, but that doesn't do anything for you. Rich men with big guns? Big deal. You've seen too many of those. Unless the world is coming to an end and you need to hunt for your own meal, it's pointless. It's just an ego stroke for them. A gun measuring contest if you will. You're pretty sure they don't know how to defend themselves if it came down to a gunfight.
However, never having ever seen Ray in action with a gun before, you realize now that when he wields them, it gets your blood flowing. You've never been drawn to or attracted to guns, but there's just something about it when Ray handles them. He’s careful, precise and intentional with how he uses them.
He has nothing to prove. He utilizes it on a need-to basis. He knows it’s not something to flaunt and doesn’t need to whip it out to show everyone how big his cock is. He’s subtle and stealthy and that makes him that much sexier. You’re now both afraid and turned on by imagining him with a real one. That kind of power is like an aphrodisiac.
"The gun fight was supposed to cool us down but I guess it's doing the opposite, eh?" you say, pushing back again.
Ray looks down between the two of you to see you grinding back against the tip of his water gun. He curiously tilts his head to the side.
"This turns you on, doesn't it, love?" Ray asks into your ear, leaning in and putting his weight on you, causing you to groan.
"Maybe just a little," you admit.
"Just a lit'le? I can smell you," Ray growls. "You've been teasing me all day, love. Distracting me while I'm working. Being a naugh'y lit'le brat."
"Yet you've kept a straight face and focused the entire time," you respond. "Quite impressive really."
"Let's just say you'll never win a poker game against me ever," Ray adds.
“Well, now that I know—“
You get interrupted by Ray's phone when it rings. You feel Ray shifting, pinning both of your wrists with one large hand and tucking the gun into his belt before he reaches for his phone in his pocket.
"Yes, boss?"
You try to shimmy out of his hold as he's on the phone, but you have no luck. His long fingers are firmly gripped around your wrists and the weight of his hips are pinning you against the wall.
"Sure, boss. I'll take care of it as soon as my lunch break is over."
He hangs up and slips his phone back into his pocket and retrieves the gun, continuing where he left off. You feel your dress hiked up and there's a pause. You're wondering what's the hold up and you try to turn, but Ray pins you back against the wall. You flinch when you something running up and down your slit and let out a low moan when you feel it brush up against your clit.
"You're not wearing any knickers under that short dress and you went out in public that way?  You've been more than naughty. You've been a bad, bad girl." Ray states.
"And what are you gonna do about it?" you tease.
"You're playing a dangerous game, kitten."
A guttural noise sounding almost like a purr comes out of you when you feel more pressure against your core.
“What are you going to do? Shoot me?” you taunt.
“Don’t think I won’t.”
“Oh, love. You're just hangry," you add.
"Hangry?"
"Y'know, hungry and angry--"
"I know what it means!" Ray quickly spits out right before his stomach audibly rumbles.
"See. Hang--"
"There are other things that are a bit more pressing at the moment," he interrupts while pressing his crotch into your backside.
You bite your bottom lip and hum, pushing back.
"I know you get off on me manhandling you like this--"
"I know you also get off on manhandling me like this--"
"You somehow don't know when to stop pushing Daddy's buttons, do you?" Ray presses the tip of the gun against your opening.
"No, Daddy! I--" You gasp and moan when you feel the gun start penetrating you.
"What was that, kitten?"
You bite your lip and thrust back, trying to fuck the barrel of the gun. You moan when feeling it pushing in deeper.
"You needy slut. Look how desperate you are," Ray growls.
You have no response except to enjoy the feeling between your legs until it disappears. You whimper at the withdrawal, but suddenly you're pulled away from the wall and tossed onto one of the nearby couches. You quickly turn onto your back, but you're met with his gun in your face. Testing his reflexes, you fake a lunge at him and he presses the tip against your lips. You slowly open your mouth, feeling the plastic slip in deeper the more you open up.
Ray watches you as he starts undoing his belt and jeans. You start to move your mouth over the barrel, licking and gently sucking on it, bobbing your head up and down.
"You dir'y lit'le whore," he smirks. "My dir'y lit'le whore."
Ray pushes your legs apart with his knees and aligns himself with you before shoving himself into you. You moan around the gun and your eyes roll back. While holding himself up with one arm, Ray's hips pull back and slam back into you.
"God, you're so fucking wet. You really do get off on me manhandling you, don't you, slut?" He continues to slowly drag himself in and out of you.
You don't quite respond. You just continue orally pleasing the gun as you feel Ray torturing you.
"But it's not fair when you need to be taught a lesson."
Ray's free hand goes for your throat and he thrusts into you rhythmically, at a medium pace.
You moan around the gun again and arch up, feeling pressure on the sides of your neck and cervix. He is not wasting time as he's pumping in to you deep and hard.
His grip around your throat tightens and you start to feel yourself fading. Shortly after, you tap on his arm. He immediately loosens his grip, gently massages your neck with his fingers. He pulls the gun out of your mouth and tosses it aside.
"You alright, kitten?" he asks, stilling his hips to give you a few moments. He leans down closer to you to examine your neck. “Are you good to continue?”
"Yes," you nod.
"Yes, what?" His grip on your neck tightens again, but not as strong as it was before.
"Yes, Daddy," you answer and then Ray places a quick tender kiss on your forehead before slipping back inside you, continuing where he had left off.
This was not going to be a slow chase, but it doesn't need to be because he is hitting you in all the right places, both inside you, around your neck and most importantly, your brain and pain sensors. You've both learned degradation and pain gets your blood moving, but Ray always balances it out with praise and affection. They're like yin and yang.
"Not wearing your panties out in public in that short dress? You were desperate for attention, weren't you? And teasing me all fucking day. Is this what you wanted?” Ray goes off.
Not being able to speak in the moment, you simply flash him a smirk as he continues to pound into you relentlessly. You can feel your walls start to flutter when you feel Ray smack your face.
“Don’t you dare cum. You haven’t earned it. This is your punishment.”
“Yeah? And what if I do?” you push back.
With that, Ray releases your neck, pulls out of you instantly and then starts jerking himself over you.
“No! I’ll be good for the rest of the day,” you pout and whine.
“Too little too late, princess.” Ray continues to stroke himself, getting himself closer.
“Please, Daddy?” You show him your saddest puppy eyes as you reach down and gently rub yourself to relieve some of the pressure building, spreading your legs a bit more. “I’ll be a good little kitten for you. I promise.”
Ray’s hand slows down as he watches you.
“I know you wanna cum inside my pussy and claim what’s yours, don’t you?” you continue to tease.
“Who’s Daddy’s fucking slut?” Ray asks.
"I'm Daddy's fucking slut," you mewl.
“And who owns this cunt?” He follows up.
“You do,” you answer.
“That’s right, and don’t you ever forget that.” Ray shoves himself back inside you and you gasp, feeling yourself full again.
You run your hands over his chest and move up to his face, slipping your fingers coated in your own arousal into his mouth. He sucks and licks on them before grabbing your wrists and pinning them above your head. He drives himself into you over and over again, sprinting to the finish line. You’re close to your own and you’re not sure how much longer you could hold back.
“Cum for me, kitten!” Ray grunts.
You finally let go and feel Ray spurting inside of you as you milk him, grinding up to meet him. You both moan loudly as your orgasms take over.
After you both take a moment, Ray pulls out of you and takes the bottom of your dress to clean himself off before tucking himself back in and making himself presentable again.
“Ray! This dress is dry clean only!” You scold him.
“That’ll be a lesson for you,” Ray nods. “Besides, that’ll wash out.”
“I’m not so sure…” you say, examining the white stain that’s forming.
“Love…” Ray starts.
You look up at him as he reaches in to grip your chin. He moves your head left and right, touching and checking for any marks or injury. He then inspects your wrists, seeing some light bruising. He brings them up to his lips and kisses them.
“You alright?” he asks, looking straight into your eyes.
You nod. He continues to stare at you for a second before planting a kiss on your lips. Both of your growling stomachs interrupt the moment.
“Come on, love. This is cutting into my short lunch break. I’m going to have to work through it.” He offers you his hand and you take it.
He pulls you off the couch and after you get to your feet, you fix your dress.
“The water gun was a fun clever idea but don’t you ever shoot that inside my house again, you understand?” Ray says as he leads you out of the room.
“Okay, fine!” you reply.
He swiftly swats your butt and you squeal.
“Yes, Daddy!” you correct yourself.
“That’s my girl.” He leans in and plants a kiss on your temple.

Leorio friend head canons:)? Just like general stuff for being his friend
Ooooh yess been meaning to start writing about Leorio on my own for a while, but looks like the asks beat me to it lol Thank you for requesting this! I definitely have thoughts about being Leorio's friend
🩵Friendship with Leorio HCs🩵
Tumblr media
Med school:
You and Leorio enrolled in the same med school at roughly the same time, and ended up in the same class.
However, he didn't seem really interested about making new friends at first, only interacting with you and other classmates if necessary and focusing on his studies. Though he'd occasionally show up to parties to pick up ladies.
You were admittedly curious about him, not only because rumors had it he was a Hunter, but also because of how passionate and determined he was to really make what he studied for into a career.
The opportunity to finally talk to him presented itself on a quiet afternoon in the school's library.
Oddly enough, Leorio wasn't busy studying that day; he was just sitting on a window sill, trying to call someone on his phone. You saw him sigh, concern plastered all over his face... then he noticed you staring at him, flinched and went back to acting as if nothing had happened. "Oh hey y/n! S-sup?"
You ask if everything is okay, and he tries to deflect the question at first, but eventually gives in and tells you about a friend of his, Kurapika, who hasn't been answering his calls lately, and he's very worried for him.
You listen to Leorio, offer some words of comfort. He's really glad that he got to talk about this with someone, and that if you ever needed someone to talk to he'd always be available.
Ever since then you two have made it a habit to chat during breaks and hang out outside of class, going out for a coffee or studying for exams together.
Caring to a fault:
The closer you got to Leorio, the clearer it was that he's willing to put the people he loves above anything else.
When for whatever reason you miss class, he's always the first one to send you a text asking if everything is okay.
He also tells you what topics were talked about that day, if there's any assignments, and even sends you the notes he's taken during class! He wants to make sure you don't fall behind on your studies.
Leorio would also take all your concerns seriously, whether they have to do with your mental or physical health. He's completely willing to offer unbiased advice, and genuinely gets concerned if you tell him you've been feeling unwell and you can't figure out why that is yourself.
Man's going to spend hours researching your symptoms, and find ways to make you feel better.
Once he develops his Hatsu he's even more efficient at that, and often jokes that he won't charge you a dime for a diagnosis. You know full well he wouldn't charge anyone money for that, that's just not the kind of guy he is.
He tends to behave as a big brother a lot of the time, even reminding you to eat and drink if you're one who often forgets to, and even makes sure you get enough sleep.
Basically, he's always looking out for you.
Good fun:
Of course, being caring isn't the only thing he's got going on for him, the guy is also genuinely fun!
There's never a boring moment when you're with him, whether it's because he's gotten himself into trouble or because he's just bringing you with him to a party... you never really know with him, sometimes it's both.
Really, only he can turn a chill party night into a game of 'run away from an angry boyfriend', just because he flirted with the wrong girl there.
And of course he drags you off with him, because buddies stick together!
On nights where things do go well, he has the bad tendency to get absolutely wasted, but it's alright, he's the funny kind of drunk, he gets all wobbly and starts talking nonsense until he falls asleep, probably on you. He's a mess.
Leorio at heart is a pretty adventurous guy, so whenever you guys are free from classes and exams, he often suggests to go on hikes and such.
Although a lot of the time, those hikes turn into him paying very close attention to the plants growing in the area you're exploring, taking note of any medical plant that could come in hand, because "You never know how much equipment you're gonna have on you to practice first aid!"
He's really resourceful like that.

Bunty aur Babli AU with Bridgerton couples
You know I’m glad I’m not the only one that has a thing for any movie Rani Mukerji is in, because it makes me feel validated as a fan. This is a funnier version of the classic Bonnie and Clyde dynamic. Which I loved.
This one would have made a super good Polin au, where Anthony gives Colin an ultimatum of either get a serious job or be disinherited, and Portia likewise tells Penelope that she either gets married to a random old suitor or she’s going to be kicked out of the house. So both Colin and Penelope get the brilliant idea of running away from home on the same day, and find each other on the same ship to America. Colin of course can’t let Penelope travel alone, and proposes that they stick together as friends until they make their fortune in America and return home rich.
Easier said than done. Turns out that when you’re nobility and your practical skills amount to very little in the new world, finding work is easier said than done. That is until Colin and Penelope team up to get revenge on some business man who fooled Colin into giving away a family keepsake, and in the process of recovering the heirloom and getting the businessman thrown into jail they discover that they are both very talented at conning people.
So Penelope proposes that they simply make some money tricking the rich, until they make enough to go back to England and buy themselves a piece of land. With her Lady Whistledown skills of sussing out information and Colin charm, it’s easy to wear a disguise and pretend to be some Nigerian Prince that needs a thousand pounds. Or some fortune teller that can communicate with the dead and needs a wealthy widow to deed Colin half her fortune. Why can’t Penelope pretend to be the long lost daughter of a politician, if the politician had affairs behind his wife back, then that’s his fault.
Turns out that the more money they make, the less they want to go back to England, despite the fact that Penelope knows that Colin’s elder brother has sent bow street runners to track them down and bring them home. Colin instead thinks that he would rather start his own family with her, the woman who has quickly become the love of his life and not only his partner in crime. In all her life Penelope believed that she wasn’t destined for adventure, but an adventure with Colin is really all she’s ever wanted. Not only because she has always been inlove with him but also because he compliments her mischievous nature perfectly. And really what they do isn’t that bad, people are giving their money willingly, with a little con men persuasion sure, but it’s not like Penelope is helping Colin rob a bank. Getting married is only going to make the adventure more fun and she is helpless to resist him. Just as he is helpless to resist her.
I like to think that Anthony eventually catches them before the police does, and they are forced to give up their life of crime and return to England. With some very heavy string pulling on both the Featherington and Bridgerton side to avoid being recongized in England as wanted criminals in America. But Colin and Penelope never truly give up mastermind ways, and still sneak out to con a noble or two every once in a while.
And that’s the tea
