Today is Sir Terry Pratchett's birthday. So, why not celebrate with some of the easter eggs we have in Good Omens that are all about him.
Mind how you go.

I like to do this thing every now and then where I compare my old artworks to my new ones, because I find it fascinating to see my progression over the years. I'm always struck with how much about it has changed, yet how much has stayed the same. And Sam Vimes is the perfect subject for this, because I just don't quit drawing him. XD
Here's to many more years of art to come!
Also, today happens to be Sir Terry Pratchett's birthday! As he himself wrote: "A man is not dead while his name is still spoken". Thank you Pterry for sharing your passion, humor and imagination with us through your books. It means the world.

As a little Terry Pratchett tribute today I wanted to draw the two fictional men that have inspired me to create more than anything has in a long time.
And also a little tribute to the community surrounding these books that makes me want to share my creations instead of hiding them away. It's meant more than you know.

Basing on an enormous feedback of likes and reblogs that I am gathering at this post I decided to try drawing another version of Vimes among dragons. Once again I am forced to apologise for my colouring

Pratchett trying to shoehorn in a romantic partner for Drumknott at the end of Unseen Academicals is honest very funny in retrospect because the lad shows up two more times before the series concludes and is still romantically unattached which implies that despite Vetinari and Margolotta’s best efforts to play matchmaker something must’ve gone so wildly wrong that it made the two of them not want to engage with each other any further.
So because of this oversight, my headcanon is that when Drumknott and Miss Healstether had their little rendezvous they argued over who had the better filing method which ended in Vetinari and Margolotta having to physically separate and restrain them to keep them from killing each other. It’s the first and only time Vetinari ever had to reprimand Drumknott in his entire career all because he bit Margolotta’s librarian during the altercation. However, deep down he was more than a bit amused watching two mild mannered individuals throw hands over a ring binder so it was more of a halfhearted, “don’t do it again,” kind of scolding.

Happy Birthday Terry Pratchett!
Tumblr media
Every year for Terry Pratchett’s birthday, I like to celebrate by reading one of his books and talking about him.
Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors. I first found out about his books in 2012 right after reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I was looking for other books similar to it and Terry’s Discworld series was recommended along with Good Omens by both him and Neil Gaiman.
“No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away"- Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
I read Good Omens in 2013 and fell in love with it instantly. At the time, I promised myself that I would read the Discworld series some day but put it off because of its size (it had 39 books at that point). I didn’t start the series until 2017 and finished the final novel, The Shepherd’s Crown in 2022. Over the years, it went from being one of my favorite series to my favorite series. I cannot recommend it enough. It's incredible.
Tumblr media
Terry has been an inspiration of mine ever since I first picked up one of his Discworld books. I read the series mostly in publication order and I personally recommend doing so if you plan on reading the entire series. There are so many ways to get into it. The only book I read out of order was Hogfather because I wanted to read it at Christmastime that first year. It's one of my go-to rereads every year.
Even though I didn't find myself loving the first couple of books, they still had me wanting to read more from this brilliant man. Terry’s writing style is one of a kind and I will never be able to get enough of reading his work. I have read 60 of his books and I plan on reading every single piece of literature he has written. They are insightful, funny, and so damn clever.
Today, I am going to start The Science of the Discworld that Terry wrote with Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen. It is the first book in a four-part series that has Discworld stories mixed with science. I’m interested in seeing what happens and how the wizards accidentally create the Roundworld. The Unseen University books are a mixed bag for me. Sometimes, I really love them and then other times I don’t. Though, I am looking forward to seeing what trouble those old fools cause. I cannot wait to get to the second book because it deals with Shakespeare.
Some of my favorites of his books are: Hogfather, Witches Abroad, Night Watch, Thief of Time, The Wee Free Men, Going Postal, Wyrd Sisters, and Good Omens.
Thank you for the words, Terry. I wish I could have met you. Your ripples will continue on for a very long time. Happy Birthday.
“People think that stories are shaped by people. In fact, it's the other way around.” Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett

A dream fanfic by NaturallyTeal ~ 10th Day
Happy Terry Pratchett’s Birthday (28.04.1948) everyone!!! 🎈🎁🎂💐❣️
Tumblr media
Summary:
The Secret Dream Diary of a Good Omens fan (anonymous, he) who contracted a severe case of the fandom-typical brain rot from watching S1 & S2 too often, reading too much fanfic on AO3, and spending altogether too much time engaging on tumblr, digesting gifs, fanart and meta.
He dreams about Good Omens every night.
Short dreams, daily.
~~~
10th Day: The Long Globe
I dreamed that Terry was sitting in his armchair in the bookshop, reading to me from “The Long Earth”. I was spilled over the couch like a Crowley, listening in reverence. The doorbell chimed and Joshua hurried in, greeting Terry like the old friend he naturally was, and telling him we had to get a wiggle on, the Second Coming wouldn’t summon itself. Adam, the young one, would be waiting for us at the Globe in the seventh universe to the right.
Terry donned his hat and scarf and took the white marble bust of Adam under his wing.
[previous day]
I’m planning to post one _short_ dream daily, for 20 days. If you like, subscribe on AO3!
There’s also a “mailing list” (tagging in the replies) here on tumblr, let me know if you want on it! 😇😎
~~~

Terry Pratchett Day 2024
I cannot express how much Terry Pratchett's books mean to me and how they've changed my life. My love for them and for Terry is ineffable~
Choosing only a few of his masterpieces is impossible, but have the ones that are most meaningful to me:
Like the first book of his I read (ironic, I know, that wasn't the very first part of the Discworld series, but it still did get the job done)
Tumblr media
The first one I read in English because I ran out of the ones translated to my native language
Tumblr media
Terry just got equal rights and representation right, no matter if it's about women, undead, queer or anyone excluded
Tumblr media
First the witches themselves, later with Tiffany's support, they resonated with something in me, helping me to choose my own path and my own philosophy. It may sound naive or silly, but for me it runs deeper than you can imagine. This was his last book but I'm forever grateful for each and every one of them
