For the top 5 prompt: Top 5 Eggman boss battles.
This is yet another list that probably shifts depending on the day, because there's a lot of good ones.
5.
Tumblr media
An underrated one. Like Rush Adventure in general.
There's no deep reason, I just think it's a neat fight, and since it uses the Jeweled Scepter, that grants it a plethora of unique magical attacks that you don't often see in an Eggman battle.
4.
Tumblr media
I couldn't decide between these two, so fuck it, they're both here. Can you blame me? They're both well-known, and for good reason.
The Egg Walker marks the end of Tails' story, and it follows up the race to the missile in the city. The battle itself is fine, if perhaps a bit easy, but Eggman's tranquil fury in the cutscene prior really sells the mood. Shame he's rarely been given opportunities to show that side of himself since then. But that's where Stellar comes in. Either way, between that and Tails standing his ground, it's a great moment for both characters.
As for the Viper, we all love the obvious meme, but like the Walker, the fight is also fun in itself, and is reasonably tricky for a final boss. But as weird as it might be to say, the ending is what really makes it for me. The way the music stops the instant you get the last hit in, the way Tikal warns you about his kamikaze dive, the way the lonely sound and visuals of the explosion lingers before culminating with what could be mistaken for a volcanic eruption... awesome.
3.
Tumblr media
It's an awesome mech. It's an awesome battle. It's an awesome moment for both the hero and the villain. Capped off with descending towards the center of the earth. As someone who considers Unleashed flawed in ways that I can't ignore, even I can't deny that this is one of the game's standout moments, and it deserves all its praise. I'd argue it's a better final boss than the actual final boss, and I'm not just saying that because the latter is another giant monster... okay, maybe that's part of it.
Shout out to the Generations version, because I really enjoy that one in its own right.
2.
Tumblr media
Oh boy, here comes the controversial one. How dare I put anything from Forces on a top five that isn't derogatory, amirite.
In all seriousness... look, say what you will about the fight itself. I think it's alright, but I get why it might be considered perhaps a little anti-climactic compared to what it could have been as far as gameplay goes. And you guys know that I always consider gameplay to come first and foremost, no matter how good or bad the story of the game in question is, so it's not like I'm ignoring that part. And of course, there's the Nega-Wisp Armor reskin aspect that everyone complains about, which caused Twitter to throw the baby out with the bathwater and consider Eggman's position as the final boss to be the true problem. Which is probably why the final boss of Frontiers ended up being a talking ballsack. Thanks, everyone.
Anyway, all that said, I think there are certain elements that elevate it in spite of its ultimately okay status. There's the music, but that goes without saying for a Sonic game that isn't Chronicles. But another factor is the combination of the seriously underrated sound design, with the complete and utter silence on Eggman's part, which like @skaruresonic, I interpret it as the doctor being too focused on killing your ass that he disregards his usual banter, and like the Egg Walker cutscene in SA1, I think the effect really works, regardless of the actual intent or reason behind it.
So yes, I'm putting it as #2 for these overlooked attributes. I'm not sorry.
1.
Tumblr media
The finale of S3&K will always be particularly special to me. There have been many great Eggman throwdowns, but this one illustrates how the doctor's high octane levels of pure determination rival Sonic's own; perfect for an arch-nemesis. There have been godlike figures who go down after a single fight, meanwhile this mortal man belts out a bonanza, because the mere concept of giving up the Master Emerald does not compute.
The build-up also goes a long way: S3&K as a whole establishes and maintains this aspect of Eggman's character throughout. He's going to get the Death Egg back up and running, and nothing is going to stop him. His robots set the jungle on fire. He himself destroys the ruins in Marble Garden, in the hopes that Sonic will get killed in the process. He's not even phased when the Death Egg falls smack dab into a volcano; his dedication never wavers. Then come the endgame, where he finally fucks off with the Master Emerald after telling Knuckles it was Nothing Personnel Kid, which is followed up with a dramatic chase through the crumbling Sky Sanctuary, which then culminates in the final showdown aboard the eponymous vessel... and then continues even after it blows up.
It's iconic, it's fun, it's climactic, and Eggman's ridiculously exaggerated refusal to quit being on full display cements it as one of my favourite Eggman portrayals, despite hailing from a 2D game with no dialogue.
Honorable mentions (that currently come to mind):
Death Egg Robot, cause c'mon, it's a classic. This mostly refers to the original Sonic 2 version as well as the variations in Generations and Mania.
Egg Shrimp (Sonic Advance 2), for being petty enough to abduct Vanilla after his plan's been foiled, and for the badass moment afterwards in which Sonic narrowly saves Vanilla.
Egg Emperor, because I don't care if it's Metal Sonic, it's an Eggman mech, he's trying to mimic Eggman, shut the fuck up or I'll do a in-depth Shadow the Hedgehog level tier list. The design is rad as hell, and it has the iconic TAKE THI-TAKE THIS, TAKE THI-TAKE THIS.
Egg Salamander (Sonic Rush), for capping off the dynamic between Sonic and Blaze... and because Wrapped in Black.
Nega-Wisp Armor, because the fight is fun despite its simplicity, and it's noteworthy because Eggman finally got to be the true final boss of a 3D mainline installment for the first time. And it only took a decade...
The endgame for Mania, in which Eggman menacingly jumps around in a Pokeball and then holds his own in a three-way standoff instead of being tactlessly upstaged like he's nothing.'
The one in IDW that doesn't exist.

You know what? It’s been a while since I shared my thoughts on the IDW comics, and I wanna get back into that. Let’s talk about Issue 55!
Tumblr media
Right away this cover art is fucking GREAT! Might be some of the best in the series. I’m a big fan.
Tumblr media
First off, the Egg Walkers back! Cool! The Egg Mobile is nice and all back Eggman tromping around in a big legged version of the thing has always been fun.
Secondly, love that Metal just rushed in to attack Sonic immediately without Eggman’s orders. Weather it’s just Metal’s prime programming to kill Sonic, or his own free will beginning to creep through is up in the air. And I like that.
Tumblr media
Really faked me out here, thought for sure we’d have the classic horror trope with Surge jumping down right before Eggman fully realizes where she is. But Eggman being quick witted enough to realize where she is and shooting that close to her is way better!
Also Eggman having a gun will never not be funny to me. Sure it just shoots lasers but god the image of Eggman holding a pistol is metal and hilarious at the same time.
Tumblr media
I’m so god damn happy with what Ian and Evan have been doing with Eggman this arc. The fact that this is the second time in 6 issues that he has grabbed and attacked a character with his bare hands is amazing and really paints him as the threat he’s meant to be. Eggman being physically stronger than he looks, while still needing to rely more on his machines, is just a fantasic bit of characterization.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God I love the way the ENTIRE panel is washed in color whenever Surge uses the wisp powers. It’s absolutely stunning and is a FANTASTIC showcase of her power.
Tumblr media
HOT DAMN CHAOS DRIVES ARE BEING ACKNOWLEDGED!
Tumblr media
You know after two mini-series of “Starline manipulates people for his plan, they find out, he almost dies, Starline manipulates people for his plan, they found out, he DOES die,” it’s great to be reminded, post-mortem, Starline is an absolute genius and could have been a genuine terrible threat to the world had he not been so focused on one upping Eggman.
Tumblr media
I love how Sonic and Eggman aren’t working together yet here, but are smart enough to know that both of them are enemies to Surge and coming at her from both sides like this before confronting each other is a good play. Also Metal looks AWESOME!
Tumblr media
I continue to feel so bad for Surge it hurts. The crippling paranoia and anxiety over both her own safety and Kit’s is heart breaking and really makes me want to see her come out okay in the end, which unfortunately I don’t think will happen at this point.
Tumblr media
I have nothing of value to say here i just like the image of Eggman drinking water like a professional athlete.
Tumblr media
I gotta say it’s a little jarring to see Eggman so quickly accept Sonic’s help after he was so stubbornly against it in Sonic Frontiers, but I guess he just knows that he’s in a completely modified base that he’s unfamiliar with, has no form of transport anymore, and his only form of defense is Metal Sonic who would probably struggle against Sonic and Tails at the same time.
Plus I really can’t blame the writing team for it since they were almost certainly writing this before Frontiers came out and only Ian knew what was going on in that story and he didn’t work on this issue.
Tumblr media
And there it is folks, that sweet, horrid realization that Surge isn’t just some brute who Starline hired, but a horrific creation of Starline who doesn’t know anything else than to hate Sonic. God this arc is creepy.
Tumblr media
And once again a reminder that Starline is an evil genius on the same level as Eggman, just blinded by his own ego. Eggman admitting himself that Starline was brilliant but only AFTER he’s dead is great to see. I adore a villain who respects their enemies abilities and Eggman is prime for that.
Tumblr media
Kit continues to look creepy and Sure is doing the Vegeta pose.
But enough about that I wanna talk about how calm Surge looks in those first couple panels. Or at the very least not angry like she usually is. Surge has been fighting running around and fighting non stop since Issue 50 and she’s clearly scared of the fact that Sonic and Eggman are working together. She’s tired, she’s scared, and she doesn’t know what else to do but to fight Sonic.
Tumblr media
And oh BOY this last page is pretty!!! I cannot stress enough how amazing the art of this series is, it’s astounding!
Conclusion
Surge and Kit continue to be really fun and compelling villains and I’m so glad they’ve been added. Feels like we’re getting close to the end of this first major arc involving them, but whatever happens next issue I hope that the two of them can continue to appear in later comics down the line. Giving Sonic more of a rogues gallery is always neat to me, even if Eggman deserves more of the spotlight.
8/10

Talking about characters that are in Sonic Forces Speed Battle but not Sonic Dash so I can pass the time
see title. under a read more because very long post. really just using this post as an excuse to pass time while i watch a 7 hour youtube video in the background.
Storm
Tumblr media
since I’m doing this in order of Sonic wiki then Storm is first. Weird to me that he’s not in Dash yet. Core series character instead of a variant or anything, and there’s precedent for Extreme Gear in Riders since Dash already exists. Would hope Storm gets added soon.
Wave
Tumblr media
Everything said about Storm applies to Wave. As a sidenote it’s so weird that I guess Olympics aside we’ve had to wait until a Sonic Forces tie-in mobile game to see the Babylon Rogues again really.
Chaos
Tumblr media
Dash seems a little more hesitant to introduce playable villains for some reason? Which sucks. Chaos is one of the series’ oldest villains, needs to be playable in Dash smh.
Eggman
Tumblr media
As above hesitant to add villains, although there’s at least more justification here since Dash has Eggman battles as parts of any given run. But just make it so those don’t spawn lol. And have Eggman. It’d be awesome. He’s like the second most important character in the series, come on.
Gamma
Tumblr media
Dash only added Omega like a little over a month ago or something idk, wouldn’t expect Gamma to get added for a while perhaps. Idk. Hopefully they do though. Shocker but “hopefully this character gets added soon” is gonna be said a lot lol. More characters is fun.
Tikal
Tumblr media
Again just a regular version of a core character, zero reason not to add. Pls add soon.
Zavok
Tumblr media
Sigh. I did just say more characters is always better bc hey harmless mobile game why not? But I could really take or leave Zavok lol.
Zazz
Tumblr media
As above although Dash has a Zazz boss battle still which is funny since it was added as a Lost World tie-in lol. But yeah if Zazz gets added ever then just make it so he can’t fight Zazz, something like that idk.
Zeena
Tumblr media
yk something fucked is that these 3 are the only Deadly Six members in Speed Battle at all - so they added half of them then gave up. I know I don’t care about the Deadly Six at all but that just feels incomplete. Anyway add them to Dash or don’t I don’t really care. Add literally every other character first pls.
Super Sonic
Tumblr media
Yeah okay now this one annoys me because Dash added Movie Super Sonic before regular Super Sonic and that’s sad. Pls add Super Sonic it’d be cool we love him.
Sir Gawain
Tumblr media
Yeah weirdly the other knights of the round table are in Dash but Gawain isn’t. And it’s not just that he’s the last to have been added either because the current Dash event is for Paladin Amy which despite some Black Knight influence obviously isn’t actually a Black Knight character at all and is just a variant of real Amy. So Gawain is just missing. Very sad.
DJ Vector
Tumblr media
PLEASE ADD HIM I NEED HIM SO MUCH HE’S DRIPPY AS SHIT
Punk Zazz
Tumblr media
Did you know Tails doesn’t have any variants in Dash or Speed Battle (wouldn’t say movie versions count as variants really) but Zazz does. Fucked up.
Unicorn Cream
Tumblr media
This is so goofy I love it please add it
Lantern Silver
Tumblr media
for variants of characters I like all I can really say is “yeah sure add it this is fun”
Lucky Whisper
Tumblr media
Having said what I just said it’s also wild to me that Whisper gets a variant even despite being a comic character. But Tails has none. I don’t actually mind much here tho bc I like Whisper lmaoooo, bias is based. Yeah sure add to Dash.
Spring Cream
Tumblr media
gee bill how come your mo- but yeah sure add it
Tropical Storm
Tumblr media
add his regular first but sure add this to. Still feels wild that no Tails variant but Storm has one.
Tidal Wave
Tumblr media
Exact same comment as above.
Ice Slicer Jet
Tumblr media
Funny to me that Storm and Wave get like tropical theming but Jet? Ice hockey. Sure lmao.
Quarterback Zavok
Tumblr media
same opinions as with Punk Zazz.
Infinite
Tumblr media
He’d be fun come on add him :(
Mephiles
Tumblr media
I’m cheating because he’s not out in Speed Battle yet. But he’s upcoming! So put him in Dash too.
Super Shadow
Tumblr media
same stuff with Mephiles - upcoming but I want him in Dash also. Also would like Super Silver since that completes modern super forms except Burning Blaze which also actually should be added. Dab.
Darkspine Sonic
Tumblr media
Not in Speed Battle just yet either but coming eventually. So add him to Dash also.
That’s the post lol. Was that a worthwhile read? Who knows.

Top 5 villains that are truly scaring me
They're here, they're queer. I am human and I have fears and the writers that created those villains just struck right on them.
5 The hunters from Bambi
Tumblr media
I HATE hunting and hunters more than life. Which says a lot.
I grew up next to a forest, with pets, and I remember hearing the gunshots when the hunting season started, and be terrified, keeping my cats close in fear of them being a 'casualty'. Hunters here are all old bigoted assholes who drink half their weight in cheap wine and go in their merry way to kill everything that moves in the woods. I hate them and I have always had the deep sated fear of one day being killed by one, and be called a hunting accident that people don't care about. I don't live near that forest anymore so the likelihood of that has dropped, but the sight and mention of hunters or hunting still prompts that fight or flight response.
4 The judge and jury from Paranorman
Tumblr media
Laika knows how to make their villains, there's no doubt in that. The trial members, judge and jury, condemning a little girl, they terrified me. Being different is a crime. Being just different enough to make people uncomfortable could very well end up with your murdered, and the law that was meant to protect you will wipe your murderers' hands clean. It's not a new concept, but I've always been the weird one everywhere I went, especially in childhood and adolescence in a small village then town. I've always carried with it the knowledge that anytime the majority is against me, rules will change and bent to give their reason when they assault and hurt me. The world is unfair, and if I understood it early, I was never fully able to accept it...
3 Monstro (the whale) from Pinocchio
Tumblr media
I always wanted to be a mermaid. Went to biology uni in the great plan to make a live tail that could allow a human to be adapted to underwater life. But one thing was never going to work out. I have a deep, instinctual fear of deep waters and whatever giants they contain. Being faced to face with a monster like that whale, I would freeze and be killed instantly. I could never swim fast enough to escape it. I couldn't run, I'd be powerless against a giant. Also the animation of it in Pinocchio (which was pretty fucking scary all on its own) was great and violent and powerful, which accentuated that fear in me.
2 The Other Mother from Coraline
Tumblr media
Again, Laika is gooooood at making villains that scare the crap out of me. But as awesome as Laika's version is, it's surprisingly soft compared to the orginal book. Having loved the movie, I made the mistake of reading the book. I was scared shitless for weeks. No offense, Neil, but DON'T READ IT AS AN ADULT ! Apparently it passes better when you're a kid, even if it's not, you know, not scary. But as an adult it's blood-curdling. Still have nightmares. Which, weirdly enough, have nothing to do with the 'spider' aesthetic the Other Mother has in the movie. I'm violently arachnophobic yet this one didn't trigger it.
Honorable mentions :
The Aunt and cats from Lady and the Tramp : once again, unfairness has a face. They are the good ones, and no matter the crap they do behind closed curtains, they look all good and proper and that's all that matters, right ? You, imperfect and unproper as you are, must be the one responsible. You'll be the one punished.
Rasputin from Anastasia : I love him, don't get me wrong. He's fabulous and awesome. But first I really, really don't like corpses of any kind. And second, Anastasia may be extremely lucky but I am extremely unlucky. If Rasputin decided to kill me, I'd be dead by the end of the day.
1 Gaston from Beauty and the Beast
Tumblr media
Society, people, they love him. (Also why the live action sucks)
I get it. He's beautiful, successful, strong, rich, he's perfect in any way. All you can hope for in a man and husband.
That man can never do wrong, and they'll follow his lead. He's brave, it must be a worthy fight he'd asking of them.
How can that man not be right, after all ?
I know Gaston. I met him before. I'll meet him again. And each time I have the terrifying thought "if he assaults me, nobody will side with me." If Gaston forces himself on someone, and it turns sour, it's the victim's fault. One way or another.
After all, how can that man not be right ?

Favorite and Least Favorite Ghidorah Incarnations
Probably gonna regret making this post, but it’s been a long time coming, so let’s do it. I guess I should warn, not suitable for people sensitive to opinions that might be different from their own. Can’t believe I have to say that about a list of fav Ghidorahs, but alas...
Anyway, enjoy!
-
Let’s start with my Top 5 favorite Ghidorahs! Going from my most favorite down! All five of these are amazing and any one can easily become my #1 at any given time! :D But at the moment, my number 1 is...
Showa Ghidorah
Showa Ghidorah should come to nobody’s surprise, given how much I’ve been writing about him lately! I admit though, it wasn’t always like this. It took some time for him to grow on me, and he actually used to be one of my least favorite through design alone. But he has grown exponentially on me, and now I love everything about him! The manes are unique and I love the crescent moons on his heads too. His eyes are so big, and I feel they have more expression compared to other Ghidorahs. And the inspiration of the more traditional Eastern-style dragon is there in his face too.
His backstory and personality, though, is what really got me to change my mind about the character. His personality is perfect as far as I’m concerned! Coming from space to destroy planets just for the lolz, cackling maniacally all the way! Even the fact he was mind-controlled was something for me to delve into in my stories, on how such a thing impacts the character. It really opened my eyes to the more subtle parts to his personality, like I realize that Ghiddy wants NOTHING to do with Earth. He tried to destroy it once and that failure is all he needed to know to stay away. The plot device of mind-control is used to keep him coming back in future movies! Even when he defeated Godzilla and Rodan, he chose to fly away back into space! There’s layers to his character if you look deep enough!
There’s just so much story-potential to this guy, I love it! Even in real life, he has an arc, going from one of my least favorites to being the top of this list! That’s definitely special!
Overall, a lot of love for this character, often wrestling with Legendary for the number 1 spot! Speaking of which...
Legendary Ghidorah
The one that started it all for me and they’re second on the list?! Blasphemy!! Nah, seriously though, Showa and Legendary really do often switch places for me all the time! Just right now, Showa has squeezed into the top spot. For now........
Anyway, Legendary Ghidorah needs no explanation for being a favorite incarnation of the character. Whilst Godzilla has always been a very vague presence in my life, KotM’s is what had me diving headfirst into the fandom, all because of Ghidorah. Their design is amazing, sleek and intimidating! The detail that they whip up storms just by flying creates an awesome menacing atmosphere everytime they’re on screen!
The personalities between the heads is unique, providing all sorts of material for my writer side to explore! Their backstory is left open for me to explore as well, like where they came from and how their species functions! It’s been a lot of fun! I may be slightly burnt out from how much I’ve written and posted about them, but make no mistake, I still ADORE this Ghidorah and I have them to thank for starting this whole page in the first place!
Shin Ghidorah
That’s right, Shin Ghidorah exists in official TOHO canon and he needs more love!!
Shin Ghidorah was one I was introduced to not long after I learned Kamata-kun (oh, and Shin Godzilla) was a thing. With my obsession with Ghidorah, I wanted to know if there was a Ghidorah in the Shin universe and after some digging, I found that there was! Featured in a ride in Universal Studios Japan! And better yet, videos of it exists on youtube! I loved it the second I saw it!
The design is amazing and surprisingly unique! This is because Shin Ghidorah was originally a scrapped concept for the original Showa Ghidorah! Like, Shin Ghidorah is basically an oversized three-headed Skullcrawler with wings! Because you see those “legs” he has? Those are actually ARMS!! Ghidorah could’ve been a giant Skullcrawler all this time!!
I also love his movements, oddly enough. He doesn’t just fly, he SWIMS though the air, something I don’t recall seeing in any other Ghidorah!
The only thing I don’t like about him... is the fact that he wasn’t around longer! A shame the ride is so short, I would’ve LOVED to see more of him in a movie. Oh well...
Grand/Cretaceous Ghidorah
Both are the same individual, so they’re both in this entry! I remember learning about him through a video talking about Ghidorah’s most sadistic moment and this was it. Grand Ghidorah kidnaps children with the sole intent to devour them, but he doesnt eat them right away, no. He holds them hostage to stew in their terror, returning to them every so often just to listen to their screams and cries. You know he’s enjoying every minute, knowing he’s torn families apart. Without a doubt, all this is just a game before he destroys the world as Ghiddys do. The way he toyed with Mothra Leo, leaving him to suffer after beating him to near-death. Or the way he possessed one of the Mothra twins to try to kill her own sister! It was great! He has such a regal design too! I can see why the fanbase have come to call him Grand King Ghidorah, he’s absolutely majestic. Shame he’s overshadowed, likely due to not being in a Godzilla movie.
Cretaceous Ghidorah has a more Western-dragon look to him and it works. He is basically a baby Ghidorah and he is so cute! His big eyes and squeaky roars, I love it! He also SOMEHOW made me feel sorry for my least favorite dinosaur! That's some true power right there!
The regeneration ability too, is amazing! This is likely where Legendary got the idea, but Grand does it better by regenning from just a small piece of tail left behind. Just badass, all around!
Void Ghidorah
A controversial pick, I know. I made a whole post about my detailed thoughts on Void Ghidorah, see here. Long story short: I think he has great potential, just suffered from piss poor execution. I love the idea of turning this alien dragon into an interdimensional GOD, with followers and everything. His full-body model looks amazing! He’s the biggest and most powerful Ghidorah yet, the biggest kaiju in the entire franchise in fact, and I don’t see him ever being topped. Granted, I dun really judge how much I like a kaiju based on how strong they are, but it’s a bonus here. He needs all the help he can get!
Adding more, his roars are insane, not just a combination of Showa and Heisei Ghidorah! But sounds that are truly otherworldly.
Void Ghidorah deserves love, and a better movie. Guess I’ll just settle on Godzilla: Star-eating Wings as the go-to Void Ghidorah video!
-
I have no real opinion on the new ride Ghidorah, as I have yet to watch the full "movie” and thus, can’t judge how well I’ll like it compared to the others. So for now, tis neutral.
-
Now I’m totally going to get hate for this list of “least favorite Ghidorahs”, but this is my opinion. I don’t like any of them, and they’re all outshined by my favorite non-Ghidorah kaijus, and some even being beaten by my “meh” kaijus! Anyway, this is gonna go from “best” least favorite to my “worst” least favorite. Here goes:
Heisei/Mecha-Ghidorah
Tis no secret that I don’t particularly like Heisei’s version of the character. I’ve mentioned it more than enough. Oddly though, I liked the design when I first looked through Ghidorahs from past movies, and I DISLIKED Showa Ghidorah’s design. How things have changed when I learned more about both of them...
Now I’ve grown to not like Heisei very much. They took Ghidorah as an alien dragon that destroys planets for fun, and turned him into pets that I’m sure are meant to be cute, but just remind me of Furby’s in how creepy they are (tis not the good kind of creepy either!). I like the scrapped idea of him being an attempt to clone Showa Ghidorah from DNA left behind when he destroyed Venus, so I keep that canon in my head just for some attempt to like him more. Tis why I call him “Kitty Ghiddy” whenever I write him, I legit cannot take him seriously. Such a shame that he’s basically replaced Showa Ghiddy on merchandise, so it’s harder for me to find said Showa Ghiddy because of this thing. Oh, well.
Oh, and he replaced the BIDIBIDI of Showa with generic Rodan calls. And he also turns into a good guy at the end of the movie with Mecha-Ghidorah, and.... well, go down to the next entry for my thoughts on stuff like that.
GMK Ghidorah
He’s a good guy here. They nerfed the fuck out of him by having him be a juvenile (not even done well like Cretaceous Ghidorah), and turned him into a good guy. Granted, he was never meant to be in this movie in the first place and it shows. I’m a villain kind of person, and Ghidorah’s evilness is one of the biggest draws to his character for me. So taking that away... It just doesn’t work for me. It says something when I like GODZILLA more than Ghidorah in a movie. His design is okay, so at least he has that going. But...
Desghidorah
I really don’t like the design of the character. That’s literally it. I think four-legged Ghidorahs are very awkward looking; Ghidorah has a lot going on as is, three heads, two wings, two legs, two tails. Adding more legs... it’s just too much going on that tips the scales from ‘awesome’ to ‘messy’ in my mind. I can’t explain too well why I really don’t like the four-legged look to Ghidorahs, I just really don’t. But credit, he does pull off the look slightly better than the last one on my list.
AND MY LEAST FAVORITE GHIDORAH AND LIKELY TO GET A MOB ON ME IS.....
Keizer Ghidorah/Monster X
“An awkward horse” is what someone described him to me as, and I can’t help but agree. Again, that four-legged look breaks it for me but somehow, he looks EVEN MORE awkward than Des. I just can’t look passed it. Maybe it’s the front legs, or the wings looking too small for his body. Des just LOOKS a bit more natural in his four-legged-ness.
Making it worse for me, Keizer has a second form that I REALLY don’t like: Monster X. They don’t even resemble each other. I can’t help but feel MX was supposed to be his own Kaiju, but they felt pressured to make Ghidorah the final boss so they combined them. Dunno if that’s the case, but it feels like that to me. Not even getting into the “how the hell does a dragon come out of THAT, where does it all GO when he changes back?”. And the biggest thing: I don’t like human-looking characters. I don’t care for human characters at all in any sort of media, or anything that resembles humans too closely. I skip human scenes entirely just to get to the monsters. Tis why I don’t really care for gijinkas either. As far as I’m concerned, I like the kaiju for being kaiju, and making them human just takes away all things interesting.
If Ghidorah kept everything intact about his personality, but you made him human... I wouldn’t even give his character a second glance, much less devote my Tumblr page to him! But yeah, tangent over. Monster X just looks too human for my tastes.
Plus, tis hard to compete for my attention when you’re in the same movie as FW Gigan! It says something when Showa Gigan and Showa Ghidorah can share the screen and I love them both, but FW Gigan completely outshines FW Ghidorah...
-
So there we go, a complete list of my thoughts for every Ghidorah incarnation that I can think of. Hopefully I didn’t miss any. Again, these are my opinions and you’re free to like whatever Ghidorah. I’mma sleep now.

Medea’s Anime/Game Superlative of 2019
Well it’s that time of the year where I look back on the animes I’ve watched and the games I played with this outdated meme quiz from 10 years ago. But I still do it for the fun of it! As usual, it doesn’t matter what year the anime or game came out. If I messed with it this year, it counts for the honors. So if it came out two years ago (which feels like forever ago), it counts. Let’s get at it!
Tumblr media
First Fandom of 2019: The Promised Neverland
Episode 1! That’s all you need to watch to officially get hooked to this series. I jumped on this title at the beginning of the year not knowing what to expect due to Aniplex and Crunchyroll whoring this particular anime months prior. But once I saw the first episode, I was immediately hooked. It shook me to my core to watch one of the most graphic scenes to come from this year. I was captivated by Emma, Norman, and Ray’s plans in order to escape their doomed fate of becoming food for creepy demons. Each episode, I was at the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Is Gilda in cahoots with Sister Krone? Will Don learn the truth about what really happened to Connie in episode 1? Can Ray be trusted? IS NORMAN STILL ALIVE?! Come on, I’m like really far ahead in the manga. I want to see Norman and Emma together again. I’m so happy this series is getting a second season in 2020.
Tumblr media
Favorite Main Character of 2019: Haru from My Roommate is a Cat
It was a close call this year for main characters and normally I don’t shoot for main characters. This year I will admit that I fell in love with Chika from Kaguya-sama. Plus, I still love me some Lana from Pokemon Sun/Moon! And I finally started part III of Jojo’s, so Grandpa Joestar is just the awesome OH MY GOD that I need. However, they all lose out to a cat! Yeah, just like that one year where I picked Nyanko-sensei as my favorite main character, I’m doing it again.
I know Haru can’t actually talk back to her human, but the audience can hear what she’s really saying and it’s absolutely amusing. She was funny when she thought the word “Haru” meant food. She’s so adorable when she’s playing with whatever catches her eye. She’s got quite the personality (almost tsundere even). But I gotta admire Haru too. Before she was adopted, Haru was on the street trying her best to look out for her younger siblings. Even giving them more food scraps when she would go hungry herself. After Haru was adopted by Subaru, she eventually warmed up to him as “her human”. It was a learning experience for both as Haru didn’t know how to react to having a human care for her and Subaru has never taken care of a cat before. But Haru is a loyal kitty who loves her human. Hell, she ran away from home because she feared her human collapsed somewhere. Haru’s the greatest!
Favorite Villain of 2019:
…Dear God, give me the strength to pull through this one.
Tumblr media
Princess Malty “Myne, Bitch, Whore” Melromarc (The Rising of the Shield Hero)
No, this is not me insulting her. These are all her official names. Really! In many of the animes I watched this year, the villains were pretty hit-and-miss with me. I’m in the middle of watching the elven uprise with Black Clover and didn’t want to talk about that this year. Fairy Tail’s villains are just okay. And I didn’t watch Frieza this year! So let’s talk about the ONE villain who even out-trump’s the actual villain to the series.
It only took one episode for an entire fandom to turn on one single character. A single lie that figuratively speaking threw our main protagonist Naofumi under the bus, kicked him in the nuts, shanked him, robbed him, and thrown him off a cliff. Myne did so much throughout this series. She lied about being raped. She abused her power to get what she wanted. She set up someone to fail constantly. She attempted murder on her own sister (several times) just to keep her status as first in line to the throne. And she cheats so she gets her way! It was so sickening to watch this vile woman for more than just one episode. When you created a character who was so disgusting and revolting as a secondary villain, you did something right! It’s like with Shou Tucker and Father from Full Metal Alchemist. Ask any anime fan and they’ll definitely remember Tucker over Father. Myne is this anime’s Shou Tucker! And I have to give her some credit, she is now one memorable villain. And aren’t villains usually supposed to be despised? I, Naofumi, most characters in Shield Hero after episode 21, and all of the internet can come together in agreement to say, we hate Malty, Myne, Bitch, Whore.
Final insult on the matter, she’s a cunt!
Tumblr media
Favorite Video Game Character(s) of 2019: Piers & Marnie (Pokemon: Sword and Shield)
I knew point blank that Marnie was going to be my favorite rival in this game. I knew I was going to enjoy the antics of her yell squad (a.k.a. Team Yell) too. But I never expected to meet her brother and enjoy him too. Like in more recent games, Pokemon has given your character a total of three rivals to look out for. And while Hop is just the British version of Hau and Bede is just…a fuck-face, Marnie was someone who marched to the beat of her own drum. She recognizes a powerful foe and has a level of respect for her rival. She has her own fanbase, but isn’t totally arrogant about it. Plus, she doesn’t mind helping you out and giving an extra boost in battle. Plus that smile scene is just too adorable for words. And then there’s Piers!
First of all, I just love the design of this guy. What did I say when I first laid eyes on him? It’s like if David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, and Sid Vicious threw up on a pentagram crafted from Hot Topic gear and this dude emerges! And much like his sister, he marches to the beat of his own drum. That’s why he’s the only gym leader in Galar that doesn’t use the Dynamax method. I would have been satisfied if I only got to see him once or twice in the game. But I was blessed when Piers came to my aid to take down the Marco Cosmos thugs AND take on all the rogue Dynamax pokemon in the post-game. I’m impressed! Out of all the people they picked to help the protagonist and Hop in this adventure, it was Piers. I am ever so happy by this. I am so heavily invested in this guy that I’m already thinking of fic ideas involving him.
Tumblr media
Favorite Game of 2019: Pokemon Masters
As much as I really do love Pokemon Sword and Shield, I gotta give it to the mobile game this year. This game not only made one of my reoccurring dreams come true, but gave it something no other Pokemon game has been able to do in over twenty years. HUMAN VOICES! The trainers, they speak! AND YOU CAN CHANGE BETWEEN ENGLISH AND JAPANESE! Do you have any idea how much of a win this is for me! I know they’ll never have Tracey Sketchit in the game, but this still rocks my world. Do you know how much I love hearing Mamoru Miyano play a dickish bad guy? Do you know how badly I need to hear Daisuke Ono on a day-to-day basis? I’m a voice queen!
I know I don’t usually like to give praise to freemium games for the mobile phones, but this game is quite nice. I mean, yeah, you really do have to save up your gems in order to (hopefully) get the 5-star trainer that’s currently advertised and the urge of wanting to open up your wallet to actually purchase gems is tantalizing. Not as fucked as Fate/Grand Order, but you get my meaning. Unlike a lot of the freemium games, this one doesn’t limit you so much to play (unless you spend fake or real money in the game). You can super train all you want and not lose stamina! Plus, I like these special sync moves between trainer and pokemon. And there’s just something about seeing all of these different trainers from all these regions together and interacting with each other. Despite never seeing a lot of this in the anime, manga, or previous games.
Tumblr media
Favorite Het Couple of 2019: Retsuko x Haida (Aggretsuko)
In one of my baby accomplishments this year, I stopped being a tight-wad and splurged on a Netflix account. Right around the same time it becomes unpopular. Hahaha! Why does this always happen to me?
Throughout the series, we’ve watched Retsuko take chances with a lot of guys including a charming polar bear, a red panda with the brain of a pot plant, and the world’s handsomest donkey. But Retsuko has friend-zoned her workmate Haida the whole time. Meanwhile, I and pretty much like 90% of the fanbase ship the fuck out of this. Rightfully so! Haida has been admiring her from afar for so long. He tries his best to be supportive of her in the office and elsewhere. He was even nice enough to run back to the office to try and help Retsuko with the last-minute paperwork thrown at her on Christmas Eve. Hell, we watched him at his best in the season two finale helping to corner Tadano. And even though she turned him down at the end of season one, I still hold out that there’s hope. I mean, it was right after a break-up, so it was kind of the right call for Retsuko to not go out with Haida. Season three could give us this ship in the end. I know Retsuko doesn’t see Haida as boyfriend material as of now, but I have a feeling it can change.
Tumblr media
Favorite Yuri Couple of 2019: Atsuko “Akko” Kagari x Amanda O’Neill (Little Witch Academia)
That’s right, Akko and Amanda. This is the one Yuri ship I’m leaning on more than all the other ones. I know she wasn’t involved in the infamous love-bee episode, but that still didn’t stop me from making dirty jokes whenever these two girls were together for an episode. And that’s what makes it better! Akko and Amanda’s relationship wasn’t tampered with because of a love bee, what they have is real! Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating. But whenever I see them together doing something in an episode, I can totally see them as something more. Then again, my mind is warped.
Besides, this is as close to a yuri couple as I got this year. I can’t mention the one second we got of Ymir x Historia from Attack on Titan. Yayoi and Shion didn’t get much in Psycho Pass 3. And it’s leaps and bounds better than that OTHER anime I watched with two girls. Happy Sugar Life? More like a big pile of nope!
Tumblr media
Favorite Yaoi Couple of 2019: Mafuyu Satou x Ritsuka Uenoyama (Given)
You knew it was coming! I was rooting for these two boys since they met in episode one. And even though I had to hold it back a bit when I learned of Mafuyu’s grieving, I still hoped that one day, these two boys would defy the odds and become the sweetest couple of 2019. Was I correct? While it wasn’t as full-blown gay as Yuri on Ice, it still gave us so much.
As I mentioned, Mafuyu was in a relationship prior to meeting Uenoyama. And this one ended in heartbreak as Mafuyu’s lover dies. But meeting Uenoyama, Mafuyu was able to smile again and got to play the instrument his previous lover left behind. Mafuyu was able to shake off the sad shackles of the past and start life anew. Now is this feeling mutual? Of course! Uenoyama dealt with the worry of “will he, won’t he” and by the end of the series, the audience seems pretty satisfied with the outcome and hope for the best of these sweet boys.
Tumblr media
Fandom That You Didn’t Expect To Get Into: Domestic Girlfriend
2019 has given me surprise amounts of incest! This year alone I wound up watching several surprise incest anime plots including Kiss x Sis, Marmalade Boy, and Eromanga Sensei. And those of you who are not on the up-take, surprise incest is primarily a love plot involving your step-sibling. But there was just something about Domestic Girlfriend that I just couldn’t shake. I couldn’t believe I binge-watched this entire series. I couldn’t believe I picked up the manga immediately after the finale. I couldn’t believe…that I didn’t despise this anime! Yeah, usually anything with even a whiff of incest, I throw in the trash and put a bullet through its head. This one, I did not.
Simple story! Boy named Natsuo fucks a random girl and also has a crush on his teacher. Natsuo’s father tells him he’s getting remarried. Then, BIG BOMBSHELL, the random girl that got fucked and his teacher are now going to be his step-sisters. Concept alone was just fifty shades of messed up. I mean, who the heck do you root for in this situation? Throughout the 12 episodes I went back and forth either rooting for Rui or Hina. And for episode, I rooted for Miu, the cute literary girl. I was so intrigued that I had to dig through the manga for more answers. But I enjoyed this trashy soap opera! I doubt it’ll get a sequel, but it was…fun for the most part. Too hot for television fun! And if that makes me trash, well call me Forky because...
Tumblr media
Yeah, I can admit that freely now.

Fandom That Made An Unexpected Comeback: Fruits Basket
*squeals* I never thought this would come back into my life. One of my all-time favorite animes was returning with a reboot. AND IT WAS GLORIOUS! Oh sure, the first half of this series was literally a shot-for-shot remake of the original Studio Deen anime. But even that was enough to make me love every frame of it. Fruits Basket was just one of those animes that grabs you with the intriguing tale of a cursed family that changes into members of the zodiac. Then they take you on a fun ride with silly moments like Kyo and Yuki fighting each other or Ayame telling his ridiculous stories or Hatsuharu flashing some guy his junk. But then this series takes you on a detour of the most heart-wrenching stories involving heartbreak, bullying, gangs, abandonment, and hiding your true self.
This show re-introduced us to the many colorful and complex characters that exist. From the ultra-flaymboyant Ayame to the complex Ritsu! Many of these characters have severe baggage coming and going and you just wish the best for them. And seeing Tohru reach out to just about everyone in her own way, to tell them she’s there for them and she accepts them all for who they are, it just gets to you. 18 years was too long to keep this gem away from us. Welcome back Fruits Basket, we missed you.
Tumblr media
Fandom That Inspired the Most Crack: Zombieland Saga
I know it came out last year, but I got the opportunity to finally watch it this year. And it was every bit of crazy as people told me it would be. Who would have thought mashing zombies and idol shows together would be a good idea?
Seriously! You’ve got Mamoru Miyano voicing the craziest character to date, who’s a necromancer who brings back seven girls from the dead. Puts special makeup on them to fool unsuspecting audience members! All to bring life back to the Saga prefecture. Add another layer to the WTF cake, these dead girls are all from different times including 2008, 1997, the showa period in the 1980’s…you even have one from the freakin’ 19th century! But that’s not all! These girls end up becoming an idol group singing different kinds of genres. One episode they’re head-banging to metal rock and the next IT’S A FRIGGIN’ 8 MILE RAP-BATTLE! And then you have this one girl named Yamada Tae. She doesn’t speak and usually makes weird noises throughout the entire series, but we don’t care! We freakin’ love her! And even with the oddball girl, she’s not the craziest character on here. Who needs a Best Girl category when you know the best girl is just going to be the crazy dude in the shades!
I’m absolutely cereal on this! Kotaro Tatsumi STOLE this show for his own! With his crazy antics, constant shouting random phrases every five seconds, and eccentric behavior, this made for one of the most entertaining animes I’ve ever watched.
Tumblr media
Last Fandom of 2019: Pokemon: Sun & Moon/2019
I know I spent the greater part of Sun/Moon bashing several aspects of the series. But Sun/Moon was gradually getting better compared to its slow start. This year we’ve got some extreme character growth from some of Ash’s friends and even pokemon. I was amazed to watch episodes featuring Lana, Mallow, and even Sophocles growing. Lana up against Kyogre, Mallow’s thank you to her deceased mother, and Sophocles mastering Z-moves, all of these were great! Add to that, a Pokemon League that showed all of us up after 20 years of disbelief of Ash ever winning a competition. Where HE WON THE FUCKING COMPETITION! With the exception of one of the matches, this Pokemon League is definitely one for the history books for Ash. From his epic dog fight with Gladion, to the six-on-six with his mentor, to taking down a massive Ultra Beast, to taking on an island deity! All leading up to one of the most beautiful goodbyes and finale! Seriously, I screamed balls when I saw a pregnant Professor Burnet.
And my high continues with the new continuation of Pokemon 2019 (yeah, still the name). First of all, praise Arceus the animation has improved! Secondly, I am fully digging Ash and Gou traveling together. In answer to your question, yes I’m already shipping the hell out of them. Third, having these boys travel all around the pokemon world has given me so much hope in the world. The boys are going to be traveling the pokemon world revisitng old places including Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos. I know I was disappointed in Ash not soley traveling to Galar and having Pikachu wear a Sherlock Holmes hat, but this I can’t cast to the side.
Tumblr media
And yes, I support Ash x Gou like a beast!

Top 10 dramas of 2020, second half
10. My Dangerous Wife: Korean version of Gone Girl. The first 6 episodes are crazy and it just nice to see some similarities between this one and the US one. Just want the wife to get away with everything and hope her husband suffers or dies, idc 😬❤
9. OCN Train: So a try at a thriller dark mystery with some romance. Now i reallllly liked the leads a lot and was even more invested when they introduced the parallel world. Granted the last 2 episodes kinda went downhill but overall i reallly enjoyed it
8. Still 2gether: A shorter run than its prequel but much more mature and had them as a establish couple. Loved seeing what happens after happily ever after and the problems that arise and how they both deal with them. LGBT romance done and written pretty well.
7. Tale of the Nine Tailed.. Now this was a surprise because i was trashing this show before it aired. The CGI is not so great but the actors and characters make up foe that in their chemistry. Loved the batshit crazy female lead so much (shes always ready to stab a bitch even her own mom). Tbh im not thatttt invested in the romance for the lead but its cute. Also Lee Tae Ri being back for a villain role was so right.. So right.
6. 18Again... Now imma just say it i didn't reallly like this show but the way they had Kim Ha Neul and Lee Do Hyun together was pure genius. I only watched their scenes and my big teeth bf Wi Ha Joon. Sorry to Yoon Sang Hyun but he just isn't my cup of tea, especially after Ms.Perfect where he played the worst husband in tv history
5. SF8: The Prayer.. I still get so heated inside from this episode. Just insane story telling in only just one hour. Lee Yoo Young plays two roles and they also mix god into technology in a very interesting way. The highlight of this was when lee yoo young playing both characters created chemistry with herself, one as a human and one as a robot. Just crazy how she did that.
4. Penthouse: High budget ass dramas. They came to give everything and that includes a star cast. 90% of the characters are all rich and terrible people who do anything somehow to gain even more money and power that they have... miss lee ji ah is the star player here starting from a damaged housewife who gentle to a mastermind checkmate player whos is in charge of giving revenge while still having everyone be clueless that she's gonna destroy them
3. I told Sunset About You: lgbt stand up!!!! The best thai show of 2020 and just soo fucking good. The writing and production is insane. They really went to give us a proper tv show with amazingly realistic gay characters. The way the leads can create such longing and yearning without words is truly one of a kind. They have many scenes where they just smell each other or touch each other. It just so passionate and touches the heart.
2. The School Nurse Files: Say hello to the kdrama of the year. 6 episodes of feeling like you did a line of cocaine. Yumi plays a fucking awesome character who just weird and i love how they don't try to change her or make her more pleasant. Now sir Nam Joo Hyuk just hit his peak in this one. This was such a different character than any other ones he played before. He just had this special spark in this. Like we won't ever get this from him ever again. I am praying for a season 2 cause i feel like they did rush it but the budget is expensive so who knows. But its definitely a show u want to rewatch so many times.
AND NUMBER 1 GOES TO NONE OTHER THAN: CHERRY MAGIC!
A 12 episode drama about two office workers who slowly fall due to the fact that Adachi becomes a 30 year old virgin and gains the ability to read minds through physical contact. 2 very different characters that fall in love but in such a timed manner. Everything feels natural and so well put together. In ways the character's help each other in dark times that they both didn't know how much they mean to each other. I love how simple it is in terms of how its a gay drama and the issue of being lgbt isn't such or even treated as a problem. It's just two guys falling in love.
Loved how Japan created some very awesome lgbt shows. Really looking forward to some of the movies they had suppose to come this year but was pushed back due to covid. Thailand has gotten better as well for their lgbt( and we are getting a i told sunset about you season 2).
Korea worst year for dramas i gotta say. I watch some many show on 2x speed its ridiculous lol.

Psycho Analysis: Hol Horse
Tumblr media
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
So last year I thought it was a good idea to try and review all of the enemy Stand users in Stardust Crusaders in a totally random order. The results were… mixed. Some of them I think came out okay, but others? Not so much. One of them was just an entire backhanded attack against some guy who decided to say “No one likes your analyses” because I think ProJared was a creep. It was, quite frankly, a mess, and I never bothered to revisit it and never thought I would, even though I still hadn’t covered the glorious, wonderful human being who is Hol Horse.
Well, now, after playing Heritage for the Future and All-Star Battle as well as just becoming a bit more knowledgeable on JJBA, I’ve decided to not only give Hol Horse his dues, but also at least briefly go back over or cover the other Stand users and give them a rating or an updated rating, as the case may be. So buckle in, this is gonna be a long one, and it’s all gonna start with everyone’s favorite incompetent henchman.
Hol Horse is probably one of the most amazing characters Araki has ever created. Hol Horse is in possession of a powerful Stand, The Emperor, which is literally a magical gun that fires bullets he can control the trajectory of. By all accounts, Hol Horse should be the single most dangerous foe that the Crusaders face, more than even Vanilla Ice. This guy should be able to shoot them all dead without a second thought! There’s just one tiny little caveat:
Hol Horse is a fucking moron.
This man is cowardly, incompetent, and just the punching bag of cruel misfortune as all his plans constantly go awry and he is constantly knocked on his ass. And yet, Hol Horse is still the most beloved enemy Stand User of Stardust Crusaders, and it’s not hard to see why. Because despite all of his bumbling, Hol Horse just oozes a sort of cool you just don’t see every day.
(For best results, listen to this the whole time while reading the following).
Motivation/Goals: Hol Horse is one of the few henchmen of DIO who is motivated purely by his own greed… at least, at first. Eventually he has his ass handed to him one too many times, and he decides to try and assassinate DIO. This goes about as well as you’d expect, and Hol Horse – not just part of it, the ENTIRE Horse – is so scared out of his mind that he decides, yep, loyalty to DIO is the way to go! It doesn’t work out, but hey, he tried, right?
Performance: Imami Williams gives Hol Horse that raspy, American charm he needs in the anime adaptation. With his voice and the animation combined, we get to see our favorite smarmy sharpshooter who can’t shoot for shit shoot his shot and miss every time, and it is simply glorious.
Final Fate: Hol Horse kidnaps Boingo and forces him to work with him to finally get his revenge! With the prophetic skills of Thoth and the raw damage that can be done with Emperor, there’s no way they could lose! And yet, as is always the case with Thoth, things go horrendously awry and Hol Horse, despite having the ability to control the trajectory of his bullets, ends up shooting himself and knocking him out of part 3 for good.
Best Scene: Really, just the entirety of the episodes where he teams up with Boingo, especially when he tries holding up Polnareff. Considering what comes after and what came before it, it’s just the dose of lighthearted fun needed before you watch all of your favorite characters get brutally murdered by DIO and Vanilla Ice,.
Best Quote: There is only one line it could be, and it’s Hol Horse’s response to Thoth’s suggestion he kick a woman in the neck: “Listen, Boingo... I am the nicest man in the world. I have girlfriends everywhere. I might lie to a woman, but I'll never hit them! It doesn't matter how ugly they are! Because I respect women!”
That’s right, everyone. Hol Horse drinks Respect Women Juice.
Final Thoughts & Score: Hol Horse is simply astounding. The character is such a colossal screwup that he shouldn’t be as good as he is… yet he is. The dude is gifted with the most incredible power imaginable, and yet somehow he is never able to do a goddamn thing with that power! You control where the bullets go, dude! How can you not hit anything?! It’s interesting how his cowardice and lack of motivation makes him a perfect representation of the inverted Emperor tarot card, but hey, tarot motifs are par for the course with the Stand users.
But there’s something charming to how pathetic Hol Horse is. He’s always plying second banana, he’s a dirty coward who turns tail and runs when things aren’t looking good for him, he never wins a single battle, he didn’t even kill the one guy it seemed like he killed… but throughout it all he still has this sort of smarmy charisma to him that makes him impossible to hate. It’s no wonder this guy has girls all over the world, because he is a world-class charmer. There’s also how Hol Horse is just a character who really, really lives by his own personal philosophy – that is to say, he always likes to be #2, never going into a fight without backup. It’s kind of refreshing to see him always stick by this, even to his own detriment; it’s hard to hate a man who’s principled to that degree. And, of course, this man respects women. Good on him.
It helps that Hol Horse’s inexplicable popularity has led to him getting his time to shine in outside media. Heritage for the Future has two versions of him, his regular form and one that partners him with Boingo, and in skilled hands his Emperor finally gets to live up to its deadly potential. And he’s no slouch in his return appearance in All-Star Battle, and what’s more impressive is in that game he is part of the base roster while Joseph and Iggy, two of the main heroes, are relegated to DLC! You heard me right: the bumbling cowboy who did not win a single fight or even come close to it and spent a lot of time shooting himself managed to beat out out two iconic heroes from the same part onto the roster! Horsey Man must be doing something right.
As this video shows, Hol Horse is one of the most influential characters in the JJBA franchise, having helped to shape the franchise going forward and helped to inspire the traits that made beloved characters like Guido Mista, Gyro Zeppeli, and Yoshikage Kira as legendary as they are. Hell, Hol Horse is just so awesome he almost got to be a protagonist, but Araki decided that Horsey was too similar to my favorite big-titty Frenchman, Polnareff. This means Hol Horse never got his time to shine as a hero, and so stayed a villain til the end… but hey, can he really be that sad if he gets a 10/10 on Psycho Analysis?
Actually, maybe he wouldn’t like that. He likes to play second fiddle to others, after all. But I guess that’s just the curse with these JoJo villains who want to not stand out; they always end up being the best and most memorable characters.
Anyway, now that we’ve got the best of the best out of the way, it’s time for...
Psycho Analysis: DIO’s Other Henchmen
I’m just gonna give my brief thoughts on these guys. Most of them are pretty one-note oneshots, but there are a few who rise above that and manage to be something else entirely. These guys were a learning experience for Araki, and his enemy Stand users of the week definitely improved with later parts, with Vento Aureo really cranking it up to 11.
But for now, we’re stuck with these guys.
Gray Fly: I actually stand by my opinion from my original review of him; he’s nothing incredibly memorable, but he’s a solid start to the adventure and he is directly responsible for diverting the journey onto the course it ended up going on. Without him, things would have likely played out far differently. A 5/10 is still a good score for him.
Fake Captain Tenille: He actually gets bumped down to a 2/10, due to my changes in how things are scored. He’s not amusing enough to be in the “So bad it’s good” category of the other 3s, he’s just really lame and forgettable, and he still somehow manages to lose when he has the advantage. What a dweeb.
Forever: If you think the monkey boat fight is dropping in score, you’re mistaken. Forever remains at an 8/10 for being such a delightfully weird curveball that helps set the tone for the franchise to follow.
Devo: One of the weirder playable character choices from Heritage for the Future, and certainly not one I like too much; he’s also a random event that is pretty useful in All-Star Battle’s online campaign, so that’s a good mark for him. If nothing else, he gave a good showing of Polnareff’s skills when under pressure, so… yeah. I think a 5/10 is good enough.
Tumblr media
Rubber Soul: This review I regret because I was backhandedly responding to that guy who weirdly decided to bring up my distaste for ProJared in a review of Arabia Fats and Kenny G. I do mostly stand by what I said; Rubber Soul is one of the more amusing minor foes, if only because of his ridiculous performance as Kakyoin. Still, it really sucks he was just a clone character in Heritage for the Future… put he gets points for  having the iconic cherry-licking as a taunt. 6/10 is where he remains.
Tumblr media
J. Geil: Again, my opinion hasn’t changed: J. Geil is a mountain of wasted potential, but at the very least he makes for a good antagonist for his brief appearance and hey, he’s the one who helped bring us the beautiful hunk of man that is Hol Horse, so I’d feel bad giving him less than a 7/10.
Tumblr media
Nena: I honestly think Nena is one of the most boring Stand users of the part, which is sad because her episode gives Joseph the spotlight. She’s just really gross and uninteresting, and you’ll likely forget her after her episode is over. 2/10.
Tumblr media
ZZ: ZZ is not particularly great, and his design is just there to be a joke, but it’s hard to totally hate a guy who manages to roll references to Christine, Duel, and the album cover for Eliminator by his namesake into one. I think he’s more of a 4/10, but probably on the higher end there. He’s not great, but he has enough going for him to keep me from hating him.
Tumblr media
Enya: So if I thought that J. Geil was a waste of potential, I feel this even more so for his mother Enya. Despite being hyped up as this big, intimidating right-hand woman to DIO early on, she gets one appearance where her Stand is defeated by Star Platinum pulling a power out his ass and then is unceremoniously killed by Steely Dan of all people. I will give her this: her interactions with Polnareff are absolutely hilarious. But when all you have going for is some jokes, don’t be surprised when you end up with a 6/10, which you’re pretty much only getting because even despite the mountains of wasted potential you’re really not that bad.
Tumblr media
She do be looking hot in the OVA tho.
Tumblr media
Steely Dan: My opinion is unchanged; he’s a solid 7/10 oneshot douchebag. Nothing more, nothing less. His level in the PS1 game seriously blows, though.
Tumblr media
Arabia Fats: I was too hard on this guy. While I meant everything I said, and his episode is boring filler, does it really make him a bottom of the barrel all-time worst villain? No. It just makes him a crappy joke character. 2/10.
Mannish Boy: I regret not getting to this guy last time, because aside from Forever he’s probably one of the most insane Stand user of the part, seeing as he is an infant. Like, he’s just an evil baby who can kill people in their dreams. And he gets defeated by being force fed his own crap. Much like Forever, it’s fun to speculate where exactly DIO found this guy; did he just go to a nursery and start jabbing babies with the Stand arrow? Did he meet this guy at a Cairo night club? What exactly is Mannish Boy’s origin? He’s just so utterly and hilariously inexplicable. He’s definitely a 7/10; he doesn’t quite have the shock factor that Forever did before him, but let’s not pretend an evil talking baby Stand user isn’t one hell of a weird twist.
Tumblr media
Cameo: This guy really lives up to his name; his Stand is the one that gets the most screentime, with the actual Stand user being relegated to a – you guessed it – cameo appearance at the end of the fight. Thankfully, his Stand is an enjoyable take on jerkass genies and gives a pretty sad and disturbing episode that not only features my man Polnareff, but also marks the point where Avdol returns and brings “Hell 2 U!” I think he deserves at least a 7/10, even if this is mainly for Judgment. Still, a Stand is a representation of the user’s soul, so I think it works out.
Here’s the Stand:
Tumblr media
And here’s the man behind it:
Tumblr media
Midler: Midler is one of the single most interesting characters from the pre-Egypt half of Stardust Crusaders, and is the point where Stand users really started to get interesting. Her Stand, High Priestess, has a really funky and unique design, and her battle serves as the final roadblock before the Crusaders arrive in Egypt. Despite never appearing onscreen, with only her unconscious body being shown at the end of the fight in a way that obscures her, she got to appear in Heritage for the Future with an awesome sexy belly dancer design and a badass moveset that makes her a really fun character to play as. Taking everything into account, I think she just barely scrapes into the bottom of the 8/10 pool, though really this is mainly for her playable appearance.
Tumblr media
N’Doul: My opinions really haven’t changed on him. He’s still an 8/10.
Oingo & Boingo: These guys are, in a word, hilarious. In between the grueling, brutal fight with N’Doul and the later fights in the part, these guys bring some much needed levity to the proceedings. Oingo gets an entire episode where he just completely bumbles about as he attempts to impersonate Jotaro to assassinate the Crusaders, failing at every turn and only managing to blow himself up in the end. Boingo fares a little better, eventually getting roped in to Hol Horse’s scheme to get some revenge, which leads to one of the funniest episodes of the entire series as Hol Horse and Oingo hold up Polnareff. I think they collectively get an 8/10 for being two of the funniest Stand users in the part. They even get their own unique end credits in the anime (with Hol Horse joining in on the fun when he teams up with Boingo)!
Tumblr media
Anubis: Again, my opinion is unchanged, though I must say him having technically three playable appearances in Heritage for the Future does make me have at least a little more fondness for him. Black Polnareff, Chaka, and Khan are all amusing characters to play as and all have some awesome theme music. Introducing the concept of Stands being able to exist independently of their Original user is pretty neat, as well as the idea of a Stand that can switch users like it does. 7/10 is still what I’d give it, but I think that it’s pretty telling that this is probably the “weakest” character in the Egypt arcs in terms of being a villain, and yet he’s still pretty cool.
Tumblr media
Mariah: Completely unchanged. She still deserves an 8/10, because her episode is hilarious, her playable appearance in Heritage for the Future is a blast, and she’s just really frikkin’ hot. I’m not gonna lie, she’s probably my second favorite enemy Stand user out of the Egyptian ones. I may or may not want her to step on me.
Tumblr media
Alessi: I’m going to be honest here: Alessi is my favorite of the Egyptian Stand users. He’s an ax crazy coward with pedophile undertones who is just an utterly demented and sick individual with a seriously intriguing Stand that de-ages its victims. It’s a damn shame he never crossed paths with Joseph and de-aged him, but when he’s just such a hilarious and hateable lunatic with an incredibly fun playable appearance in Heritage for the Future (complete with awesomely creepy theme music!) it’s hard for me to give Alessi anything less than a 9/10. Attaboy!
Tumblr media
Daniel J. D’Arby: My opinion is honestly unchanged, but I think I’d bump him down to an 8/10.
Pet Shop: Again, unchanged really. It’s hard to give a character as busted as he is in Heritage for the Future anything less than a 9/10 any way you slice it.
Telence T. D’Arby: Opinion unchanged, 8/10. I don’t have much else to say here, besides Xander Mobus rocks.
Kenny G: See Arabia Fats above. I got irrationally mad over a dumb joke character. He’s not going above a 2/10, but he’s not worth really getting mad about.
Vanilla Ice: I still think he’s the only enemy Stand user besides Hol Horse who deserves his 10/10. My opinion of him remains unchanged, but I would like to say he’s easily one of my favorite characters to play as in All-Star Battle.
Tumblr media
Nukesaku: Ok, he’s not an enemy Stand user, he’s just some weird vampire… zombie… thing. Still, I feel he’s at least worth briefly mentioning, if only because he’s probably the only easily-defeated joke villain Araki did from the first three parts who is particularly memorable. Wired Beck and Doobie are really not all that memorable, but Nukesaku at least elicits a few chuckles – he even gets cameos in Heritage for the Future as well as getting to be a stage hazard in All-Star Battle. For what he is, I think he deserves a 5/10.
Tumblr media
And with all these enemies taken care of, that just leaves one more Stand user to talk about.. one whose Psycho Analysis has been sitting in my drafts for a year now...

So I finished Kulipari and I have Thoughts
doing season 1 and 2 here
The Good:
a lot of it, honestly.  Writing, character designs, backgrounds and lore are all pretty neat!
The animation in season 2 improved quite a bit over the stillted-ness of season 1!
Jarrah and Killara are fucking awesome villains/antagonists and you can’t change my mind.
Voice acting... very nice. bonus points for having mark hamill in there, you know me
the whole concepts of dreamcasting and nightcasting are actually really cool? like we don’t know all the details yet but i want to know more!!!
Stinger is my son and you will not harm him.
KILLARA
time actually passing and characters growing up
Pippi is adorable and I’m still cross she didn’t return for season 2
The neutral:
Animation is by far not as good as the teaser trailers released promised. Not inherently bad, but a bit false advertising if you ask me.
Darel is not a very compelling main character, but he’s not downright poorly written either. He’s just kinda... standard, especially for fantasy heroes.
Tasmanian devils do actually have tails and no stripes. I’ll just chalk that up to creative liberties.
We have literally no idea where Stinger came from. Marmoo didn’t even have a son in season 1 but then suddenly in season 2 he has an offspring. I’m not counting this under the Bad though because this may have been resolved in a further season... if we got one.
There is no LGBT+ rep, in case you were hoping for some.
May have to put this under bad but idk... just something feels wrong about the levels of anthropomorphism in this series? Like there’s anthro bipedal reptiles and shit, but their mounts are non-sapient komodo dragons that go on all fours??? While other reptiles are all sentient? Just kinda weird. For mammals it’s kinda weird too, but at least they look very different. With killara it kinda looks like he’s riding a non-anthro bigger version of himself.
The Bad:
Animation in season 1, false advertising aside, is kind of low quality for the time it came out. It still uses flash or similar programs, which can be used effectively, but in season 1 they looked very stilted and stiff a lot of the times, like they were too afraid to go outside of the puppet’s boundaries. It luckily gets better in season 2, though!
I don’t get the point in having asymmetrical designs if you are going to mess them up quite a lot. Stuff like scars or blind eyes shifting places, just distracting. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed.
Marmoo, for our Main Big Bad, is a really underwhelming villain. He’s just the big and strong type who is not the most clever one around. When you have great villains around like Jarrah, who are so much more subtle and cunning, I don’t much care about this dude. Especially since he keeps dying and being brought back, he gets old quick.
Similarly, Darkan is another underhwelming bad guy because he is kind of just... diet Marmoo.
While I praised the time skips before in aging up characters, I don’t get why they were selective about it. It’s implied quite a few years passed as we see the trips being young adults now, yet none of the other characters seem to have aged (from season 1). Darel is still a young adult, as are his friends. Jir hasn’t aged a day despite already being old in season 1, stuff like that.
Ending season 2 (presumably the last one since it’s been years since we got an update, though never an actual cancellation) ends on a cliffhanger? Multiple, in fact? Hello? I want more Frog Series! It can’t end with the Big Bad being back???
I really don’t like Koa
The racism against scorpions. Even if it is at times framed as being “well-meaning” or “for Stinger to find his true self” or whatever, it’s still that, racism. Even his best friends suspected him of poisoning Jir just because they had a kerfuffle before (which was again caused by Jir being hard on him and commenting on the whole “you’re a scorpion act like one”).
I really liked this series and I still hope for a season 3, but by now I’m pretty sure we don’t get one since it’s been three years since the last season went live and as far as i know there has never been any confirmation of a new season. There was going to be a comic series I think but that got canceled. Then again, the series has never officially been canceled by Netflix that I know of, either, so maybe, one day?
Either way Netflix please stop leaving people in the dark if their cartoons are going to be canceled or not, especially if they have open endings *cough thedarkcrystalageofresistance* *cough kulipari*

How would canon class 1A handle monsters? Or handle the monster version of themselves?
Woah! That was quick! It hasn’t even been 10 minutes! XD But I think I’d have a few ideas for this!
Okay, so, SN is for Supernatural and C is for Canon/Classic!
Here we go:
Aoyama
SN!Aoyama and C!Aoyama I feel wouldn’t really react to each other, SN!Aoyama would probably be a little cocky, I mean, “I can do magic, have the most fabulous wings and fly! And all you have is a pretty little naval beam? How cute~”
C!Aoyama Does really like his fairy self that much.
Ashido
SN!Ashido and C!Ashido probably find each other really cool! SN!Ashido is amazed by the acid that C!Ashida is able to create acid from her hands, C!Ashido is amazed about how SN!Ashido can perform magic and fly! SN!Ashido is also so small! So cute! C!Ashido introduces SN!Ashido to modern society while SN!Ashido talks about life in the forest.
Asui
SN!Asui and C!Asui find each other and their word’s amazing. While C!Asui is probably amazed by the fact that SN!Asui can perform magic and that she can shapeshift into different creatures! SN!Asui would be amazed by C!Asui’s reality Heroes? Villains? Humans are the only species? She finds it really interesting!
Iida
After getting over the fact that SN!Iida is a fucking horse, C!Iida will probably start to ask questions about SN!Iida’s world. What are the rules in their society, what their legal system is like, etc. (some questions that would confuse SN!Iida because what the fuck is a legal system) though, once C!Iida is calmed down, they both talk about each other’s world, SN!Iida probably explains the history between humans and monsters as well. (People in class probably try to persuade them to race each other)
Uraraka
C!Uraraka finds SN!Uraraka adorable! She’s so small and cute! She can do magic! She can fly! That’s so cool! All the while SNUraraka! is the same! C!Uraraka is big and cute! She has magic (They see Quirks as magic at first) too! She can fly just like SN!Uraraka can! But is a little confused about how C!Uraraka gets sick from her flying? Hasn’t she gotten used to it by now?
Ojiro
Ummm, what? C!Ojiro is probably a little intimidated by SN!Ojiro, his tail makes him so much taller and it’s so long, really powerful, I mean, C!Ojiro’s tail is pretty strong too but SN!Ojiro’s tail is crazy strong! Though the intimidation eventually fades away and they’re friendly towards one another
Kaminari
“YOU HAVE MAGIC?!” “YOU CONTROL LIGHTNING!?” “What!? No! My Quirk is electrification! You know, like electricity?” “What’s electricity?” “Bro-”
Their two brain cells can’t handle this! They’ll self-destruct!
Nah, just kidding. They find each other pretty cool! SN!Kaminari thinks that C!Kaminari literally shooting lightning out of his body is amazing! C!Kaminari thinks that the fact that SN!Kaminari uses his magic through music is the coolest thing ever! Instant buddies!
Kirishima
C!Kirishima is also a little intimidated by SN!Kirishima at first. I mean, SN!Kirishima can turn into rock, breathe fire, fly, not to mention he’s a fucking dragon. I mean come on, how cool is that! However, he quickly gets over it when SN!Kirishima mentions that they want to become a forest guardian (sorry, left this part out!), C!Kirishima talks about his want to become a hero, they both bond over manliness.
Koda
C!Koda and SN!Koda bond over animals! C!Koda introduces SN!Koda to his bunny and SN!Koda talks about all the different animals that are in his universe to C!Koda. SN!Koda goes on to show what more he can do with his magic while C!Koda watches in awh!
Sato
I feel C!Sato gets a little nervous when SN!Sato mentions that he’s a werewolf because in modern society werewolf are depicted as humans that shift into huge, dangerous beats during full moons. Tough C!Sato calms down after SN!Sato explains that he’s fully aware in his wolf form and wouldn’t hurt anyone! C!Sato explains his sugar Quirk to SN!Sato then the change to the topic of cooking/baking and C!Sato shows him modern food and how to cook it.
Shouji
I think that C!Shouji would be in a mix of awe and nerves because while they’re similar in many ways SN!Shouji is literally a descendant of god-like beings that used to roam their (SN) world, C!Shouji just has a cool Quirk. SN!Shouji would probably ask a few questions about the modern world though and they have a discussion about their two realities
Jiro
C!Jiro would probably be a bit disappointed a first because she’d probably want to be something more edgy like a vampire or werewolf but when she sees SN!Jiro’s abilities first hand she’d quickly get over it. SN!Jiro would probably be interested about C!Jiro’s Quirk, ask questions about it, then C!Jiro would most likely introduce SN!Jiro to modern music and instruments.
Sero
I feel C!Sero would find it cool enough that there’s another version of him from another universe, I think he would be ecstatic that his counterpart is part spider! (I headcanon that C!Sero really likes arachnids!) SN!Sero would probably be interested in his tape, thinking it was webbing and would probably ask why it comes out of his elbows instead of his wrists (Yes I imagine when SN!Sero is in his human form his webbing comes out of his wrists like Spider-Man, leave me alone!) and why it looks like that. They’d probably go off into a conversation about their abilities as well.
Tokoyami
They chat about their mutual fondness about darkness and the arcane. SN!Tokoyami takes about his duties as a demi-deity while C!Tokoyami discusses heroism and his want to become on. SN!Tokoyami is intrigued by C!Dark Shadow while C!Tokoyami looks up at SN!Dark Shadow in awe. (Because that’s a big fucking dog)
Todoroki
They’re hesitant about one another a first, C!Todoroki thinks SN!Todoroki is merely a quirk user trying to trick him somehow while SN!Todoroki thinks it’s some spell-caster trying to trick him, or worse, one of his father’s henchmen trying to drag him back to the Lower Realm. The appearance of the others and their counterparts calm them both down though. They’ll be neutral about each other, but eventually, they’ll start to ask each other questions.
Hagakure
They’re both so excited! C!Hagakure finds SN!Hagakure’s powers are so cool! SN!Hagakure thinks the same about C!Hagakure’s Quirk! They both bond really quickly, C!Hagakure wants to show SN!Hagakure around their modern society and SN!Hagakure wants to show C!Hagakure the forest that she had grown up in! Oh, they both become so hyped!
Bakugo
Just a lot of shouting. Come on, it’s Bakugo we’re talking about. They’ll probably start a fight with each other too to see who’s stronger. That’s all, we all know how that’s gonna end.
It’s just fucking chaos.
Midoriya
They are both so excited! C!Midoirya shows his counterpart all of his hero journals and SN!Midoirya shows C!Midoirya all of his monster journals. They both gush about All Might and the differences between them, they probably compare Quirk and magic together, it’s an awesome experience for those two!
Mineta
Two outcomes: C!Mineta would probably mention how grotesque SN!Mineta is and then get chased by SN!Mineta with a club or they both bond over their disgusting perverse thoughts and tricks. Either way, ew.
Yaoyorozu
Probably instantly dive into a conversation about the differences and the similarities about their worlds, compare their lives and whatnot. They act neutral to each other but they’re both actually really excited, I mean, what an opportunity, meeting yourself from a different reality, it’s amazing! They also bond over their shared hate of Mineta. SN!Yaoyorozu shows her magic and C!Yaoyorozu shows her Quirk. SN!Yaoyorozu probably tries to teach C!Yaoyorozu how to use magic.
(Name)
As soon as they see each other’s its game over. C!(Name) is gonna explain memes to SN!(Name) and get her to learn a bunch of stupid shit while SN!(Name) is gonna teach C!(Name) all the pranks that they can perform using the nature around them. They introduce their own versions of Squishy, talk about their experiences with losing their parents, but it’s mostly gonna be the most chaotic meetup in existence. Seriously,
run while you still can.
Also, Class 1A handling just normal monsters? They should be okay as long as they are friendly! Most monsters are friendly! They’re just nervous around humans because humans aren’t really fond of their kind! Showing you trust a monster means that they have nothing to worry about! Although, not everyone monster is easy to get along with, some hold a grudge against humans because of huntsman, but their Quirks should keep them safe, as they are seen as magic, so they’ll just be mistaken for Wiccan or maybe a deity of some kind.

2. What's your favourite Sonic game and why?
Mania! With S3&K at an extremely close second place. Like, 1% close. (Just like how Spyro 2 is only 1% ahead of Spyro 3 for me.)
I think S3&K has the advantage in terms of story progression, but I love Mania for how it takes the S3&K formula and basically refines it even more, on top of how extra vibrant and CD-esque the game is thanks to the gorgeous sprite work, and the legendary compositions of Tee Lopes are the icing on the cake. Then the Plus version came along and made the game even better by adding Mighty and Ray (both of whom are just as fun as the main trio IMO) and introducing Encore Mode, which reminds me of the team up gimmick in Advance 3.
And it introduced these guys.
Tumblr media
8. In your opinion, which Sonic game had the best bonus stages?
Already answered.
11. What's your favourite moment from the Sonic series?
There's... a lot that I could mention there. There's no shortage of great moments across the series. Tails saving the city from Eggman in SA1, Eggman's brilliant trap in SA2, Shadow telling Mephiles to fuck off back to MySpace in '06, Metal Sonic being a scary badass in the OVA, the intros for CD and Unleashed, Sonic putting Erazor in his place and comforting Shahra afterwards...
But I think I'll go with this one.
Tumblr media
I mentioned before that I believe S3&K has the best story progression out of any game in the series. A huge part of this is because of just how well it encapsulates how insanely determined Eggman, this mortal man with a brilliant brain, can really be.
From the moment Sonic arrives on Angel Island, he's already carpet bombing the jungles on the off chance that you might become a casualty, and for the rest of the game, he never slows down. He destroys entire levels in an attempt to kill you (Marble Garden), he attacks you while the Death Egg is in the middle of its ascent (Launch Base), he even uses the functions of his beloved spacecraft to superheat the volcano of Lava Reef, and continues to attack you even after he's done so. Which is then followed by him going full Sheev on Knuckles and swiping the Master Emerald, despite you having just defeated the doctor moments beforehand.
So you're transported to Sky Sanctuary, braving the perils of the clouds and confronting Mecha Sonic (whose design is still a bad mothafucka), and at the very last moment, you finally make it onboard the Death Egg. It all culminates here. It's time to take this thing down for good. But Eggman is prepared. Very prepared.
Tumblr media
He throws a gravity-altering device your way. Is this it? This little thing? No, that's just the starter. The main course, as you'll soon discover, is this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Great Eggman Robo, a titan of metal whose size rivals Baby Bowser in Yoshi's Island. Its two phases may be simple, but the scale is well and truly felt. A logical evolution of the Death Egg Robot from the last time you faced the madman aboard his ship.
Tumblr media
But it doesn't end there. It's all going in flames, yet the doctor isn't stopping. He's trying to get away with the Master Emerald. You beat him down one last time, and... he's still getting away. Why isn't he giving up? Time to chase him down in space.
Tumblr media
You follow him through an asteroid field, trying desperately to catch up with him. When you finally do, he's no less prepared than he was before.
Tumblr media
But you soldier through, and destroy his craft. He goes down... and then comes back up right after, with the Master Emerald still in his hands. He is never going to stop. It's getting out of control, the asteroids are doubling, getting in the way of your rings. You're this close to losing him...
Tumblr media
But at long last, you land that final hit. He's down. Truly down. You did it. You beat him.
Tumblr media
In a game that already cemented his refusal to give up from the start, the finale of Sonic 3 & Knuckles shows you what a great villain Eggman is, and what a great hero Sonic must be to keep up the whole way through.
Compare that to Mephiles, who transformed into the mighty god Solaris, got in a fight with three super hedgehogs, and died instantly. What a wanker.
19. What's your favourite zone from the classic games, if you have one?
You should all know by now that I am not good at picking out levels I like in a franchise like this. Too many of them are awesome and/or pretty. D':
Can I at least pick one for every main/sort-of-main Classic installment?
Sonic 1: Marble (the level design may be blocky, but I like the aesthetic)
Sonic 2: Hill Top
Sonic CD: Quartz Quadrant
Sonic 3 alone: Launch Base
Sonic & Knuckles alone (THIS ONE WAS REALLY HARD): Sky Sanctuary
Knuckles Chaotix: Marina Madness
Sonic 3D Blast: Rusty Ruin
Sonic R: Radiant Emerald
Sonic Mania (SO WAS THIS ONE): Press Garden

Oh my God, you guys! We finally get to check in with my other lost babies. Also, Sanji and Brook are there.
I wonder how this little off shots of total diaster human beings is faring.
Oh, lost and separated on a mysterious island on the middle of a thunder storm while a yonko is right on their tail?
Tumblr media
(I kid, Brook. Your skeleton puns have won me around.)
Yep. Sounds about right.
Sanji-Kun
I feel almost bad, because in the lead up to this it was playing that cheerful little musical cue and doing that half shadowed camera work it does when it wants to ramp up your excitement. Like guess who it is you guys? I mean, yeah, we know it's obvious but... You're excited? Right? Right? Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod IT'S-
Let me stop ya there for a second.
See, despite all the right camera angles and sound edits, there is a teeny-tiny small problem: Sanji's story-beats just make me uncomfortable too often and, try as I might (and I really have tried because Nate, Merri and Em all love him) I just cannot care about him for any longer than the length of any specific, nonsexism filled scenes in which he might be temporarily awesome.
So I'm sorry all your excitement build up had to go to waste there. I--
Tumblr media
(Pictured: One of my favorite characters in those show. Also: Sanji and Ceaser)
Wait.
Wait... Is that? It is!
The return of the gas jacket!
But goddamn, I love this overly villainous labcoat so fucking much! I mean, first, it just looks cool with the smoky edges, right!? Actually, I am all over Cesar's design. It's definitely a case of a villain who is neither conventionally handsome not does he have a devilish charm to make up for it and yet I find his design so attractive! I think I would break it down like:
Physical Acumen: 4/10 - would likely not tap dat gassy ass and now that I've typed that definitely wouldn't
Personality Appeal: 2/10 - actively sought to committee Nazi science crimes. Still isn't Vander Decken though so... Congratulations.
Over All Design: 8.5/10 love it love all of it
Also, the fact that Ceaser went out, bought a labcoat, and then patiently sat there embroidering the word GAS on both sides amuses the hell out of me. And, yes, it must be embroidered (or stitched or at least ironned on but that would be less recommendable since I imagine keeping your labcoat with a constant collar of visible gas has to create some condensation) and not just a construct of his powers, because it's on both versions.
And that is one of my favorite things about this baby. When he is put in those seastone handcuffs it turns into just a normal labcoat. Like honestly without that snog effect it's kinda meh. And that makes me love it all the more.
You see, he could have gone with an entirely gas jacket, but clearly it was really important to him to have that added layer of protection offered by actual labcoats while still looking properly evil. Of course, maybe he already had a labcoat that had GASGAS across the chest and after he ate the fruit it seemed wasteful not to wear it (plus it makes his aunt Mindy happy to see him in that Christmas gift she sent him.)
Chopper!
Tumblr media
(Chopper!)
Chopper!
How I've missed you sweet fluffy baby. They tried to make up for your absence by making Donflamigo oh-so-fluffy, but it wasn't the same.
Although, I mean, I do kinda have a question about why you're dressed as an American football but you're busy. It can wait.
Quick side note: I know biology and chemistry are very different fields, but come on Ceaser. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REINDEER AND A RACOON!? REALLY? Hell, my area of specialty is Victorian Novels and I think I could answer that one.
Tumblr media
(And the Reindeer defense line has done it again? Can nothing get through this line of racoons?)
You know what, I should have never questioned you, Chopper my main doctor (sorry Law, but look at him!). Clearly you did require that football equipment since immediately after I said that you tackled Ceaser to the grown like a bad ass boss.
Ah, look how cute he is trying to be so scary!
Brook
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wait? What has happened?
Let me get this straight. There was a Mysterious Woman™. You and Nami were so distracted by said Mysterious Woman™ that Sanji - SANJI of all people - got seperated from you. From you, Nami, and a Mysterious Woman™?
Look, I'm sorry this story does not check out at all.
(Admittedly this section contains nothing about Brook but I fit TWO different skeleton puns into posts today so he knows I'm thinking if him.)
Nami-Chan!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There she is!
I have a lot of favorite character types, but two big ones are the honorable idiot fighter and the good hearted but first a survivor characters, and what Zoro is to the former Nami is more than happy to balance out on the latter.
She's not going around looking for ways to hurt people, necessarily. She has a.moral compass. But push comes to shove and she's tripping you and getting v the hell out of there before you have time to stand up and shove her back. Much like when the fighter has everything else stripped away you know he'll make the big, stupid but honorable sacrifice a survivor is someone who may have plenty of other goals but when you get down to the bare bone (how can you not? That's all Brook is. Yohohoho!) Of the matter a survivor is going to be the one who lives, damnit.
That's this bitch right here and I adore her for it.

Sonic 001 for the ask meme! Your turn owo
Favorite character:
here he comes, rougher than the rest of themthe best of them, tougher than leather
KNUCKLES!!! he’s a cranky loner with a loud voice and a bigger heart, plus he’s red. he checks just about every box i have for ‘favorite character qualities’. Tails is a close second, because he reminds me of myself when i was little.
Least Favorite character:
i guess Zavok, because he just doesn’t seem very interesting to me? i never played Lost World, but i don’t really see why he’s been in multiple games (and the comic) ever since.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
Knouge (she thinks he’s sweet), Sallicole (that one’s halfway canon and also LESBIANS), Sonadow (shadow fell first), Sonknux (knuckles has 1 braincell and its doing its best. sonic lost his braincell a while ago), Tangaze (Tangle has a crush the size of the Death Egg), and uhhh my OC Aria/Espio (cringe culture is dead. also they’re both bi)
Character I find most attractive:
EGGMAN ehhh i guess if i have to pick then idk Blaze maybe???? idk
Character I would marry:
marrying Blaze would give me the benefit of being married to a princess, but i can’t tolerate being close to the ocean for long amounts of time...
Character I would be best friends with:
Tails probably. i have a track record of making friends with kids (i don’t really understand how, but they’re cool) and we’d probably take turns blathering on about our interests
a random thought:
the members of the Jackal Squad were probably Infinite’s family, most likely his siblings, since they all have the same fur and eye color.
An unpopular opinion:
MOVIE SONIC IS ADORABLE AND LOOKS BETTER THAN A GOOD NUMBER OF POKEMON IN DETECTIVE PIKACHU AND YALL CAN MEET ME IN THE FUCKING PIT
My Canon OTP:
Knouge has been hinted at in character profiles and such, which im pretty sure counts.
My Non-canon OTP:
my OC Aria the howler monkey and Espio. i know i havent posted about Aria on tumblr but i love her and Espio fell for her first
Most Badass Character:
honestly? Amy Rose. i have a lot of respect for the feats of the Piko Piko hammer, AND she was the co-leader of the Resistance
Most Epic Villain:
Metal Sonic. he’s a murder-bot based off of Sonic so he’s cool by default, and his personality (even outside the OVA) is so cold but so badass
Pairing I am not a fan of:
pretty much anything with Silver. i HC that Silver is a decedent of Sonic, Shadow, and Amy’s, and i prefer his relationship with Blaze to be platonic. i don’t really dislike Silver ships, i’m just not really into them.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
everybody says Shadow and/or Tails (and i agree) so im gonna say Knuckles. yes, he’s gullible and can be clueless sometimes, but that’s not his entire personality. he’s stoic, he’s cool, he’s strong, when he gets angry it’s justified!! in past games, the writing tells us that he is smart, he’s just out of his element and naive about the world like 99% of the time. i think the writers started applying Boom!Knuckles’ personality and intelligence (which by itself was ok imo, but they could have just made a different character with how different he was to other versions of the character) onto Modern!Knuckles, and that’s when the shift got really obvious.
Favourite Friendship:
SONIC AND TAILS!! me and my brother used to be really close when we were little, and i see me and Max in those two.
Character I most identify with:
Tails, i suppose. related to the question above, i always felt like i was trying to catch up with my brother when we were little, and nowadays it’s more just us doing out own thing and me showing him complicated stuff relating to my interests that he doesn’t really get and forgetting he doesn’t know zoology technobable
Character I wish I could be:
ooooooooooo, that’s tough. abilities-wise Knuckles because come on punching through walls and treasure-hunting and burrowing and gliding is awesome, personality wise im gonna say... Eggman. confident, does whatever the hell he wants, always gets back up failure after failure, but still has fun with what he does!

Cait Sidhe
Another writing AU of mine that I’ve started: Gabriel Agreste realising he should do better as a father and receiving the Black Cat miraculous, then making the decision to become someone his son can look up to, having already failed to do so as a father.
AKA the good AU where Gabriel isn’t a total shit and actually makes attempts at being a good dad.
• He becomes Cait Sidhe. (Pronounced Caught Shē) His transformation is a black suit with a white tie, and a mask. Instead of ears, his hair is separated into two parts, and slicked back, like a constantly on edge cat. He has a waistcoat with a single long coattail. It moves like an actual tail. The staff is strapped to his leg, and he’s constantly using it like it’s a cane when idle, then wielding it like a sword when fighting.
• He figures out Marinette’s identity as his crime-frighting partner (protege? Who knows. She’s a child but she’s not to be underestimated) very early in the game. Adrien comes home and tells him about the gum incident, and he later hears Ladybug telling him the same story. It’s not too hard putting the pieces together.
• Ladybug/Marinette becomes a very good influence on him, and frequently gives him advice on how to be a better father. He told her about his strained relationship with his son and how he wishes to do better, but doesn’t know how. He also mentioned that his wife is no longer in the picture to help him. With Marinette’s help and suggestions, Gabriel slowly rebuilds his relationship with Adrien. They talk and spend time with each other much more often.
• In return, Gabriel offers advice to Marinette, knowing that she’s a designer herself. He doesn’t out his own identity, but he does mention being in the fashion industry, and is constantly giving her pointers. He also teaches her how to deal with media, and how to gain the right connections. Sometimes he has to have long-winded arguments with her just to get her to submit her designs for fashion contests.
• Adrien, instead of developing a crush on Ladybug, falls head over heels for Marinette. In this universe, Adrien didn’t work up the courage to correct Marinette, so Marinette has no idea that he didn’t put the gum on her chair, and therefor doesn’t have a crush on him. Gabriel knows about all this and finds it both hilarious and devastating at the same time. He doesn’t remember teenagers being so complicated. Communication is key, children.
• I don’t know who will be the threat in this universe yet. I played with the idea of Adrien being Papillon, but c’mon, Adrien would never. He may have the perfect backstory for the typical villain, but what makes him a great character is that despite it all, he has a heart of gold. I can’t for the life of me change that, AU or not.
• Gabriel is constantly trying to make his son look good in front of both Marinette and Ladybug. Adrien is absolutely mortified by it, and is also wondering why the fuck not only his father, but Cait Sidhe himself is trying to make him seem impressive in front of both his crush and the spotted superheroine. Marinette’s just confused, but also a bit amused, especially when it’s coming from Gabriel. She thinks it’s typical fatherly bragging.
• Marinette gushes about how awesome she thinks Gabriel Agreste’s fashion skills are and he’s greatly amused by it because dear lord wait until she finds out who he is. She’s clearly a driven individual, strong in her decision to make a name for herself on her own terms without riding on the coattails of another. She’s actually the first girl Gabriel full-heartedly supports being Adrien’s love interest.
• Marinette isn’t aware of the fact that Cait Sidhe knows her identity, so all of her attempts at hiding it around him is highly amusing. He never tells her.
• Gabriel, having already an extensive amount of knowledge about the miraculous stones from his time in Tibet, educates Marinette on the history of the stones frequently, and answers any questions she has regarding them without hesitation.
• Gabriel and Plagg surprisingly get along. They’re both grumpy old men and bond over being grumpy old men together, and gossip with each other when Adrien’s not around. Plagg always refers to Marinette as “Adrien’s Girlfriend” or “your kid’s soulmate.” Plagg encourages Gabriel to let loose a bit, which is helpful in his overall relationship with Adrien.
• Marinette somehow ends up being friends with Adrien in her Ladybug mask, and Adrien spills that he never actually put gum on Marinette chair, and feels really bad that he never corrected that assumption. Marinette is drowning in guilt and does her best to build a friendship with him the next day outside the mask.
• Gabriel starts showing up to Adrien’s recitals, basketball games, fencing matches, and even came for Parents Day. He’s taking Marinette’s advice to heart. It’s worth it to see his son’s face light up.
• Gabriel sees Nino attempting a date with Marinette like in that Animan episode and promptly ruins it as Cait Sidhe. Yeah, that was probably a shitty thing to do, but that’s his SON’S girl right there. Back off.
• Gabriel starts riding in the car with Adrien to and from school, and decides to change the route so that they can stop by the Dupain-Cheng bakery every morning. Adrien immediately figures out what his dad’s trying to do and is dying from embarrassment. Gabriel somehow becomes friends with Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng. They don’t seem bothered by his personality, and even go out of their way to give him helpful parenting tips. They see that he’s trying.
• Honestly I just like this AU bc I like to imagine a better version of Gabriel that is actually redeemable and can learn to do right by Adrien. Awkward, but trying his best, and growing into a better person.
Y’all can do whatever you wish with all of this. Wanna write something about it, go ahead. Wanna add your own HCs, go ahead. Wanna construct your own villain for the story, go ahead. I just wanted to share an AU that’s a lot less angst driven.

@captain-calamaria
The second one felt more completed and stronger than the 3rd game, specifically in terms of story and the final reward.
In Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, the story is Spyro wanted to go to Dragon Shores for a vacation since the Dragon Realms had a seemingly neverending storm. But, when going through the portal, he’s instead sent to a whole new place: Avalar.
In Avalar, the place is being invaded by the newcomer villain, Ripto alongside with his henchmen, Crush and Gulp. Ripto destroys the portal, forbiding Spyro from going back however, Elora whispers to a fairy to distract Ripto, making Crush hit Ripto and Gulp swallow his scepter, getting rid of his only source of magic and power. We learn that we need to get all 40 talismans from all the locations in Avalar to be able to defeat Ripto so, it’s up to Spyro with the help of Hunter to collect all the Talismans to be able to defeat Crush, Gulp and Ripto for once and for all.
We then learn that the reason why Avalar got invaded by Ripto and his henchmen was due to Hunter inputting his birthday date as coordinates which resulted in the superportal intercepting with the portal that Ripto was going through. To avoid more of them to come out from said portal, Elora commanded the faries to scatter the Orbs around, essentially the principal reason why the Orbs are in such strange, hidden places and why some have the Orbs with them. Hunter, mentioning that Ripto seemed to have a dislike for dragons, Elora gives the Professor the idea to get a dragon to Avalar and the place better suited to intercept with the Dragon Realms is Glimmer.
Ripto, who is thought to be dead after the battle with Gulp, does get a new, powerful sceptor after he convinces Moneybags to give him bombs which he succesfully gets the power crystal from the superportal that the Professor was going to use access the Dragon Realms by doing a surprise attack.
This game kind of answers the general questions like how did he appeared, why are the Orbs scattered around Avalar and even answers why the Talismans are needed through one of the first cutscenes in the game.
The reason for Ripto’s hate on dragons is also very self-explainatory:
Ripto is a dinosaur-esque creature who doesn’t have any physical form of flight, any physical form of attack, the only physical form of attack he has his charge with his horned head which even that is risky and, he’s physically very, very small - his only source of magic is his scepter and even that really depends on the crystal on his scepter;
Dragons are these powerful, diverse sized creatures who can breathe fire/ice, fly, glide, run, charge, headbash, climb, swim and, debut on the 3rd game, are the fucking source of magic. If I was the same creature as Ripto, I would hate dragons as well because, Ripto’s species has a large disavantage against them;
And Spyro proves that even if a dragon is small and young, he can still take down Crush, Gulp and Ripto (albeit with help).
The Sorcerer, however, seemed to have physical strenght, large size, given her first battle with Spyro, she seems to have a lava-resistant skin and, albeit only in the reignited trilogy, she is going to have a spiked tail and a nuzzle with crocodile-esque teeth.
Tumblr media
Even if she doesn’t have her scepter, she would still be able to bring a fight with her own strenght and, mentioned on the former post, her reason for their banishment and possible hatred for them isn’t explained at all.
One thing I almost forgot to mention is Ripto encounters Spyro more than once, which, the more times they encounter eachother, the more angrier Ripto gets which makes sense due to Ripto’s hatred for dragons and how his tiny, young, purple dragon keeps fucking with his plans.
I noticed that the Sorcerer... doesn’t actually encounters Spyro at all, it’s Bianca who encounters him more than once which is a shame because, I would love for the Sorcerer and Spyro to encounters each other and havw their first interaction, like, the Sorcerer finally realising what is she going to battle against or deal with.
Imagine, if you will, this large, strong, powerful, wingless dragon/reptilian-esque creature with an egg on her scepter finally discovering her biggest intruder... is a tiny, young, purple dragon that’s there to stop her evil plan. Out of all her threats, it had to be a small, young dragon... she would laugh her ass off which, in return, karmar would be a bitch and she wouldn’t believe in her eyes how much commotion can this fucking tiny, young dragon create.
Then, there’s the final battle, the said scattered orbs around the world are needed (well, 40 of them as opposed to all 64) to open his door.
Right before the final battle, we get, despite the at-the-time’s graphics, a pretty, fucking, epic, climatic cutscene between Spyro and Ripto, ending with a wonderful quote from Ripto:
“Dragon, you have sealed your fate!“
All together with a wonderful close-up of this face:
Tumblr media
And cue to a That One Boss, epic, hard, challenging final battle where if Ripto is fucking bringing his A++ dino game, well you gotta bring your A+++ dragon game into the fucking arena. And, who could forget that fucking wonderful, epic, track? (of course, depending on the version you had)
And, from what I’ve gathered, he really brings up a big, challenging final fight after multiple (in terms of boss battles, two) encounters with him.
First phase: Catch three orbs which will give a certain power where you can either flame him, plasma blast him and supercharge him but, don’t let him catch them or else he’s going to roast your ass;
Second phase: He fucking builds a Robot!Gulp which means you can’t flame him to catch the orb, this time, you have to snag the orb from him to blast the fuck out of him or if Robot!Gulp gets it, he’s going to be the one who’s going to blast the fuck out of you;
Third phase: Let’s end this challenging battle with a superflight & superflame combo as the floor is literally lava and it’s a flying final boss battle.
Like, honestly, this is fucking awesome. As someone who only had 4 disney games (Dinosaur, Donald Duck: Going Quackers, Peter Pan in Neverlands and UP (aka the only game with an actual flying level)) and 5 Tomb Raider games (Angel of Darkness, Legend, Anniversary, Underworld and 2013), I would fucking love this boss battle and, honestly, this is one of the few things I legit can’t fucking wait to see in the Reignited Trilogy, specially how I love his new desing.
And, after this final battle, you can go to Dragon Shores to not only have a little fun fucking around with the things in there but, you can also get an infinite superflame for 100 and something% the game which you can use for a new game+ (aka use an infinite superflame on an entire new game, ain’t that fucking awesome (correct me if I’m wrong)).
The Sorcerer’s two final battles on the other hand... I still think it’s a shame that they relied on using vehicles as opposed to use your own powers or even special things that would grant you special powers.
And, of course, no reward for 120% the game (to my knowledge, do correct me if I’m wrong).
But, does both games look interesting to play? Oh, fuck yes, they do. I’m not going to lose my interest over a few flaws, heck, Spyro 2 also has flaws and Spyro 3 fixes some of them and even with that in mind, I still would love immensely to play them.
