Everything we have yet to see in the series (as of ep 6) that was shown in the trailer.

1) Charlie with Alastor's Microphone!?

Er hello, wtf how what when were how!? Did Al give it to her to use or is this kinda like one of those oh no character died/is gone and all is left is this moments?

2) The Hazbin's preparing for extermination day.

Aw Sir Pentious's lil outfit he looks so cute <3 Angel with the feather hat and tie love that too. It's almost like he just tore off an outfit from on top of his usual clothes but idk. But like this paired with the song in the trailer. UGH! I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT!

3) Whatever this scene is!!!????

[The little picture on the door is of Husk, Angel, Nifty and Sir Pentious with the word "Besties!" under it] istg if they kill off Angel Dust ;_; Look at Charlie she's crying AJDHKHKGADACAHFAHFAHFQFGJAUG. Did he get redeemed? Did he die? Did he get captured? Did they all die/get captured?

4) ROSIE MY GAL!!! <3<3<3

No comment I love Rosie and can't wait to see what's in store with her. Does Charlie get another overlord to help her out? Idk but either way ITS ROSIE!!!! (I just hope they don't go the Mimzy route with her too cuz I might genuinely cry)

5) Alastor going apeshit (again)

From the sign on the side it looks like he's on the roof of the Hotel. Trying to protect it during the angel attack maybe? Hmm

6) Rebuilding of the hotel

You just know this is gonna be such a sweet scene. Love Vaggie with that pony tail she's rocking it! (Also has Charlie always had that kinda magic because it looks super similar to what Lucifer's looked like too?)

I read somewhere on here that the reason Lucifer acted so weird and out of it its because he is in deep depression.

and gods

the scene in ep8 where he says "im gonna fuxck you!" and then "what did i say" IS GOLD AND IT REMINDED ME THAT

you can clearly see how much he is still super out of it, but gods he is TRYING he is trying so fucking hard and he still dont get completely out of it, his brain is not working properly due to his depression and so HE IS NOT ACTING ACCORDING STANDARS he is weird and not functioning and he is STILL TRUING TO BE BETTER, HE IS TRYING TO HELP HIS DAUGHTER, HE IS TRYING TO GET OUT OF HIS BAD MOMENT

he is not yet quite there, he still has things and mental lakes (how do u call them in english??) he needs to get over, but its a process and in this essay i will-

Y'all, my man Lucifer just likes himself some duckies.

Anyway, feel free to read through my rant of why I think he likes ducks so much. SPOILERS for S1 Ep8 toward the end.

So in case you don't know, there's this famous(ish) Christian story called "The Devil and the Duck". I'm gonna try my best to summarize it here.

This boy gets a slingshot as a present and decides to be a little shit and impulsively uses it to shoot his grandma's pet duck. This kills the duck and the boy feels extreme guilt. His stupid bitchass sister reveals that she saw the whole thing and holds the boy's guilt over his head (remember this phrasing for later) and makes him do her chores and stuff for him, using what he did as blackmail and a guilt-trip.

The boy for a while keeps doing his sister's bidding until he cracks under the guilt and exhaustion from all the chores, and in a break down he apologizes to his grandma, admitting what he did to the duck. The grandma then reveals that she saw what happened from a nearby window, and although she was deeply hurt by what the boy did, she still forgave him immediately. She says that she'll always love the boy since he's her grandson and that seeing his immediate regret was enough for her. She was just waiting for him to admit it, apologize, and stop letting his sister manipulate him.

In the story the boy represents humanity/any person, the sister represents the devil, and the grandma represents God/Jesus. The boy commits a horrific sin and feels immense guilt over it and the sister/devil holds the sin over his head and tries to convince him to do her bidding since the sin was so great that there's no way that grandma/God could forgive him. The lesson of the story's pretty obvious from there: don't let the devil guilt you with your sins into giving up and turning against God since God sees all your sins and faults and still loves you and forgives you anyway, so long as you apologize and repent for your sin against him.

I think Lucifer as we see him in Hazbin Hotel is placing himself both as the devil (obviously) but also the boy in the story. He's clearly interpreted more as a sympathetic, guilt-ridden figure. He surrounds himself with memorabilia of his greatest regret: the downfall of man (hence the apples and snakes.) Now keep in mind that I've highlighted the phrasing of "holding over [one's] head", well that's because that's the specific phrasing used in the story. Now look at Lucifer's hat. It has the snake and apple. Lucifer is LITERALLY holding his greatest sin over his own head and has given up on his dreams and happiness in favor of doing the bidding of his own personal devil: his depression. He's let himself whither away in isolation and gave up on trying to be a proper king for the people he granted free will to since in his mind they're all wretched sinners abusing that gift. All he sees is the bad side of humanity.

I think to him the duck symbolizes the dreamer still inside him, that bit of hope left in him, that hope that even though he's the cause of evil in humanity he'll still one day be forgiven and maybe even be let back into heaven. We see heavenly figures like Sera and Emily feeling clear sympathy for him in S1 Ep6. They don't hate him, they just fear earning the same fate. Even going into S1 Ep8 we see him decide to stop letting his depression rule over him and help Charlie redeem sinners. He's working to, in some way, repent for his greatest sin because, thanks to Charlie, he's seeing the good in humanity again.

Do I have any way of knowing if this is even REMOTELY accurate? ...No... but I like the thought of this being the reason behind Lucifer's duck hyperfixation, and I haven't seen anyone talk about this or bring this possibility up. Anyways, thanks for reading my little rant :3

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I THOUGHT I LOST MY FAVORITE SILLY GUY FOR A DAMN MINUTE!

Okay, chris aside, lemme break down Sir Pentious’ “death”.

So upon realizing that Adam directly needed to be defeated to stop the war with Heaven, and stop the extermination, Pentious KNEW he would probably die…

SO HE KISSED CHERRI BOMB AND TOLD HER TO REMEMBER HIM, THAT CORNY ASS BASTARD the way I would have done the same with my crush if I had one.

AND IN THE SCENE FOLLOWING, YOU CAN JUST TELL HE MEANS BUSINESS! My baby’s all grown up🥹

AND THEN ADAM JUST WIPES OUT PENIOUS’ WHOLE SHIP WITH A FLICK OF THE WRIST

AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS IT, MY PRECIOUS LITTLE GUY, MY SILLY, MY SNAKE BOI, WAS GONE FOR GOOD! I wasn’t alone, right?

AND THEN HE SHOWS UP IN HEAVEN, BEING THE FIRST SUCCESS OF CHARLIE’S REHABILITATION PROJECT, AND “LIVING” ON!

LIKE HOLY FUCK!

Also, Sera and Emily’s reactions, stop—

They both recognize Pentious from the meeting in episode 6, and when they see him—

Emily looks THRILLED, Charlie managed to get a truly good person in Heaven. Sera looks HORRIFIED, Charlie managed to get a SINNER past the pearly gates!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I also wanna compare Sir Pentious’ sinner and redeemed look.

Right of the bat the most obvious difference (other then the obvious color change) is his hood. It previously had a rounded edge, the closest thing to slits being the black coloring at the edge forming triangle shapes. In his new design the end of the hood has triangular edges. More on his hood, the eyes inside are gone, as are all the eyes on his tail too, however his hood does have several pink spots to resemble his eyes he had their before.

His googles have also been swapped for a nice pair of heart glasses. His hat changed too, the mouth on it appears to be gone (though that could just be the angle), and the hat itself looks less aggressive. Not to mention the halo. And the bowtie used to have an eye in the middle, now having a heart. The shirt under his suit jacket is also different now.

Now look, I don’t wanna be the basic bitch pointing out color changes, but there are some I find interesting, other then the black and grey of his clothes being white now.

His eyes were previously solid pink with black pupils, now the sclera is yellow with pink pupils, the same goes for his hat and even his goggles. Also I would like to point out all the black is gone from his appearance, not just his clothes, but his skin which used to be a dark grey/black is now purple looking.

Main point of this post, I’m glad my silly is alive (kinda) and redeemed!

Probably gonna make more posts for Hazbin soon.

HAZBIN THEORY (SPOILERS)

As we know, Sir Pentious was one on the characters to die in the Season 1 finale, leaving his place in the cast vacant. However, in the original cast, Sir Pentious's "mad scientist/inventor" role was taken up by Baxter, a fish demon.

They do have a handful of similarities, however they are few and far between. They both have eccentric poses, yellow goggles and are both scientists of some kind.

We also got confirmation that Baxter is a canon character, despite originally thinking he was scrapped.

He showed up in the opening scene in the pilot, in the full show for a few seconds in S1, Ep2, and once again in S1, Ep8.

He also has an official pin, which he got before his official debut.

Since he's appeared so many times and the "mad scientist" role is open, Baxter might appear in Season 2 and take Pentious's spot in the hotel. This is my personal little idea for now.

Also, not sure if this means anything, but in the 'Chasing Rainbows' scene, he was placed between the only two main characters in the shot.

We also know the full show has been planned since the pilot, as we see Lucifer and Adam confronting Charlie in the opening scene, so Baxter's placement may or may not have been deliberate.

ramble: thing is, im actually not sold on huskerdust as a romantic couple atm (in future? who knows) but i do like whatever foundations loser baby set up for their general dynamic as a whole and i can work from that with whatever direction the canon chooses to go in, which is proooobably romantic, considering the cues (but again, who knows)

this as a microcosm of general things that at times have me go "hmmm" about the first season, which most of the time (not always, but mostly) comes down to pacing. husk isn't a character with much focus in s1. his dynamic with angel, while not not set-up could be seen as a "yeah, we'll put those two together," rather than feeling totally organic. most of husk's and angel's dynamics before loser baby have been about husk not wanting angel in his space and then not much (anything?) between ep4 and ep8 that wasn't at least partly group-based

i could pick up on other non-huskerdust related things that came out of the blue and went quite quickly, especially in the latter half of the season, where the jump from "six months" to "one month" to "now" felt kind of jarring

but in the end 8 episodes is indicative of general show culture these days where it seems everyone has to fight tooth and nail to even get that much per season, when really hazbin hotel s1 wanted at least 12 episodes in order to have more time to breathe and set up character dynamics not at breakneck speed, and heck, maybe 8 was the original goal. i doubt it though, hiiighly doubt it

all this to say i have a lot of grace for wherever the show does take things if it's trying to push so much into whatever time it's been offered with the ever-hanging (but perhaps slightly less-so post-strikes?) uncertainty of cancellation after 2 seasons. the conditions to create a story and then get that story out there... suck. and it's harder for 8 episodes (or even 12) to hide flaws than a 22 episode season of yore (with its own issues as construct but still... easier to disguise blemishes and take their time)

on the flipside helluva boss seems content to just keep trucking at whatever speed it's on, doing pretty much what it wants to do, but without any Big backing a la amazon and with everyone involved doing 100 other projects at the same time. so... sometimes it does things well, sometimes less-well, but overall just... vibing. 25ish min episode at a time every 3-5 months. granted i haven't experienced the personal pain of that yet, having started it in january, but on it goes and i'll be suffering soon enough

for very different reasons im pretty forgiving of pacing-related stuff that might (has and probably will again) come up in either show. more than anything they've got very visible constraints, so im happy to fill in the blanks with fandom -- for example if huskerdust is written as romantic by the end without developing properly, ive seen ample cool ideas and fanarts that give it more texture and breadth and/or i'll simply look at other things with the characters that aren't shipping them together -- because mainly they're just very fun shows with a bunch of messy queer characters in them, with some great singing and voice acting. the universe of these stories is so open and welcoming to play in, im just in it for a good time

also, in the end, no they're not that deep (except for when they want to be), but they're also a still-rare example of queer genre tv for adults that isn't that deep, but still incorporates relevant queer narrative themes in fun, moving, often complex ways, especially genre tv where lead characters tend to be queer until proven otherwise and this queerness in and of itself is well-written and nuanced. like yeah, i am in it for plots that hopefully stick the landing in the end, but if they don't they were still a very fun, inviting time that had me as a target audience and this a rare privilege to have with a bit of fun fiction

what am i saying in the end? loser baby is a banger, thank you for the song and all the other songs. i think angel dust and fizzarolli should hang and make out and talk about terrible bosses sometime, but the likelihood of these shows having a crossover with all the weird copyright stuff around these days is probably minimal. it's fine. (argh)

Craving a fic about Cherri and the gang discovering Sir Pentious got redeemed and then her deciding to become a permanent resident of the hotel in honour of him for them to be together. At the same time while Sir Pentious is trying his best to be mean (he can't bring himself to be properly mean/all efforts of being mean backfire and somehow end up being good deeds) and is on the now verge of jumping off the nearest cloud cliff and hoping for the best to reunite with Cherri and his egg bois again.
