#he does not think the gerudo hate men

@vigilantdesert !
there were many reasons a zora could never travel to the valley of the gerudo. one could simply dry up and wither away under such an intense sun, or perhaps it was the very lack of water that prevented them that exposure to hydration that could allow oversight. in sidon's case, it seemed all too clear to him as he opened his arms to the chieftain in kind, walking alongside her through the field of central hyrule.
Tumblr media
" how extraordinary!-- so if i were to somehow arrive at your gates, i would be denied? " to think, royalty of a neighboring nation could be so easily declined simply for their gendered role. it certainly made sidon rethink things, especially with how he perceived himself. masculinity was suddenly a sin far too prevalent, or perhaps that was the provoking thought on behalf of the gerudo? mind boggles and swims about like a beached fish, desperate for answers and the chance to breathe calm once more.
" is there any chance you could further explain, urbosa? "

ITS MANDARIN WARRIOS AGAIN I KNOW I JUST SENT IN TRANS WARRIORS HEADCANNONS BUT I HAVE MORE (shout out to my cousin for helping come up with this):
anyways
CW for extremely implied (like two or three lines) of trans/homo/queer-phobia
the chain goes to gerudo town and they stop at the kara kara bazaar where wild explains that they need vai outfits since they don't let men in (or if TOTK has happened, he can't let men in with him, even if he has clearance) and the group has varying reactions, from sure whatever (legend, hyrule, twilight, time), HELL YEAH/sure, that sounds kinda fun (sky, wind, four,) and the captain just stares at the outfit for a second an quietly nods. in fact, he's weirdly quiet the whole visit to the female city. Time seems in tune with whatever is going on with captain, and gives a tiny "don't" sort of gesture at one point when twilight tries to talk to the captain.
Legend, who wears skirts all the time, who's worn dresses and cheerleader outfits and you name it, gets worried for a different reason. while most of his hyrule either wasn't there or didn't care, he's run into quite a few people (creatures? beings?) who don't hold the same values, and legend thinks the captain has finally snapped and has secretly been a raging homophobe the whole time. (no, legend does not have trust issues wdym)
legend takes warriors out on a "night patrol" after seeing him pace and fidget and pick at the outfit for the 16th million time. they walk pretty far out, far enough that the lights of the city no longer dim the sparkling night sky. legend stops dead in his tracks and turns to warriors like: "dude if you're really gonna be a hateful piece of dookie then i will make your life miserable again because i will not let you hurt my brothers like that" and warriors, who's dealing with awful dysphoria rn, whos super uncomfortable because people kept staring at his burn scars, who hates the hot sun and the itchy desert and is super overstimulated just breaks down bc he thinks he's been betrayed by another brother.
Legend is very surprised bc he was expecting to fistfight a bigot not consoling his brother who has planted himself down against a rock and his melting down in front of his eyes. warriors awkwardly explains whats really going on, and legend feels supers guilty and embarrassed for thinking so poorly of his brother. blah blah feels, cheesy stuff, they talk, then they start making there way back to the inn, after a promise from legend to keep quiet. to make it up to him, the next day legend decides to go drinking with wars since time and twi are needed for something else (up to reader what that thing is) yada yada hurt/comfort, the end
(Bonus: warriors helps legend pick out skirts and dresses because he has a much better eye for fashion -though legend would never admit it- and knows how the sizing works and what pieces go where, and they bond over the lack of pockets)
-mandarin warriors

THE LITTLE “:)” AT THE END OF THAT WAS DIABOLICAL.

forgive me if I sent this before sdfg But I sorta have this headcanon about the Gerudo? Gender is fucking weird to me anyways, so my brain looks at "they only have a man every 100 years and he's destined to be king" and i'm like 'but why tho'. I like to think their view of gender just doesn't translate well into Hyrulian/a language with gender binary. There are technically trans* people born into the Gerudo (*everyone is assigned 'female' at birth) so they are able to sustain themselves just fine. But the role of like, champion or king or whatever you want to call it, there's a distinction from the average person. Ganondorf isn't special because of his, err, equipment or anything. But this nuance is lost on Hylians, and centuries of misunderstanding contributed to this idea of "ah gerudo only have 1 man" (always did find it backwards that divinity is feminine in this series, yet it's almost always Zelda's father The King who is in charge and gets to be a character)
Ohhh the famed question of Gender Among Gerudo!!!
Okay, so. I think I'm a little weird in that regard. First, I think I need to be a little transparent about how I write, because it changes the way I go about this sort of things. I tend to be the sort of person that kind of gravitates around fictional cultures with really weird gender components and pressure points and then want to scratch at them and push them to their breaking point, because it interests me to see characters struggling to make sense of their identity in these contexts.
Again, all of this is about my own approach/my own creative curiosity and not at all a rebuttal of any other approach!! I'm super interested to see gerudos interpreted across the fandom, it's always so endlessly fascinating!!
(I'm putting it under the cut because I don't know if my own approach interests you, so just in case!)
So. While I think that it would also make sense for gerudo to think of gender in way that are radically different than hylians, I'm personally interested to take the claims at face value and see what sort of people that would create --for better and for worse. I am a big fan of the gerudos, but I also see gender (and especially masculinity) as one of their messiest pressure points.
The reason why that interests me is that an enormous part of Descant's subtext is Ganondorf being completely overwhelmed by the notion of masculinity and its expectations. Having no real blueprint to even understand what being a man is even supposed to imply beyond old legends about kings long dead, more myth than people, the contradictory, vague and messy expectations of the gerudos women who hardly know any better than him (but might say that they do, right Koume&Kotake), and hylian men who are literal threats to his life, actively hated by his people and who get imprisonned/killed if they ever get inside gerudo lands... How in the world are you expected to construct a stable perception of yourself in a context like this? And that's excluding the differences between hylian and gerudo perception of masculinity, or the insane stuff that hylians do project upon him based on their own understanding of gender and gender dynamics. In the end (in Descant), it's Darunia who does the most for him in that regard, though pretty much without realizing it nor the importance that it holds for Ganondorf, and then uhhh everything goes well forever and nobody's people gets eaten by a reanimated dragon very importantly.
I am taking a rather dark interpretation of the gerudos in OoT by taking their situation so literally, buuut I'm that kind of writer unfortunately for everybody involved. :((( This makes their relationship with hylians and their own brithrates very very dire in a war context, makes Ganondorf's appearance in the equation all the more important --but also very... questionable in a lot of ways. Extreme arbitrary gendered power combined with absolutely crushing gender expectations you can't really run away from, and expectations that are far from neutral (that's some wild shit to project onto a literal newborn is all I'll say). I think a Ganondorf raised in such a context might try to do anything for his people, buuut a part of him might also cultivate some resentment for the role bestowed upon him and the fact that he can't just be. This would have uhh implications once he gets a whiff that divine power (so self-definition at its most absolute) is a goal he can strive for.
What can I say, I'm interested in the mess!!!
But I also think trans gerudos are completely fair game, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a social space for trans gerudo to exist without this kind of pressure, especially when, culturally, masculinity is also a function --but I also think sheikahs might be much, much better at the whole gender thing than gerudos are as a culture tbh.
And as far as Goddesses being feminine while Zelda not holding actual power... I agree that it feels weird. I decided to handle this as hylians using it as an excuse to have the Goddesses relegated as religious passivity --blessed symbols of balance-- while having the concrete messiness of down-to-earth power be the domain of men; less pure and heavenly, but also, by definition, more power.
(I think this also changes a lot across Hyrule's history, but again I'm talking OoT era)
Thank you so much for your ask!! I hope I didn't overspill with my own headcanons haha

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
Honestly I write Ganondorf as a switch BUT I argue that he prefers to bottom a lot more over being a top. What is my compelling argument? Well, I think it has to do with how he was raised. What he knows is that women are entirely self-sufficient, they can be soldiers, rulers, merchants, caretakers aka they can do anything under the sun. They don't really *need* men to take care of their day to day needs, and they make it clear that they find men in that sense somewhat useless. When it comes to men, the Gerudo place more emphasis on finding someone who will be a companion and someone to raise a family with. Sometimes, I feel like Ganondorf must feel so lonely in the position he finds himself in, Gerudo through and through in his soul but in a body that the Gerudo themselves holds in less regard (but not you, they tell him, while they talk about how useless men are). So, I think he would personally have very complicated feelings around what it means to be a man, and I think bottoming, especially with someone he trusts, would help him assuage a lot his insecurities? Complicated feelings? (and I just think he probably finds it more physically enjoyable, like Ganondorf doesn't half ass anything, he is taking ALL the pleasure). (And I don't know a part of me does really believe that no one ever tried to crack the facade that Ganondorf puts on, like if someone did I think he would...enjoy someone taking care of him ya know, like the way a Gerudo woman would imagine herself being taken care of.) 3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr Worst take? I'll keep it to fandom but it was that one time someone wanted to headcanon that Ganondorf's name didn't sound "Gerudo" because his name is actually a slur Hylians used for him that he chose to reclaim. I have so many issues with this take starting with what in the ever loving fuck? 6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
Zelinkers. Not all of them, but a lot of them. I don't hate Zelink; there are a lot of Zelink fanfics that are amongst my favorites but man, the fans. A lot of them act like they are being prosecuted for liking the most popular ship. A lot of them have made it their personal mission to harass people who like other ships, even the most vanilla ones. In the past, the majority of people who harassed me for defending Ganondorf and liking Ganondorf ships were Zelinkers. Most of the weird racism around the Gerudo when it comes to fanfic I have found in Zelink fics. Anyways, I like Zelink but you will never, if rarely, catch me interacting with anything Zelink in an obvious way because reasons. Link to questions!

I miss you ganauru fics. 🖐️😔 What are your favourite headcanons about them? Like, would they be a cute couple if they didn't hate each other so much?
I’ll be honest anon, I don’t really have any interest in them if they don’t hate each other? The draw for me has always been the conflict between them, the obsessive focus they inspire in each other as men similarly attracted to power with such different aims and beliefs about themselves. Would they be cute…? Would they be sweet, affectionate with each other? We’ve seen Rauru be that way with Sonia, but my take on Ganondorf is that he’s spent so long lonely, his emotional needs left unseen for too long at crucial ages—ie, far far younger than he is now—that he has crusted over emotionally and has little capacity for joy or kindness that isn’t caught up in cruel domination. So a cute Ganondorf isn’t something I’m interested in in a canon-compliant capacity. I mused once, in response to another ask, about an AU scenario in which Rauru descends to the desert rather than central Hyrule first and he and Ganondorf are drawn to each other there, but my musing started and ended with that ask, and even if I were to continue in that vein, it wouldn’t be with the aim of writing a cute romance; it would be examining what kind of changes they would work on each other by meeting at a different time.
I hope I’m not coming off as too harsh, anon.
Some headcanons! oh this post is getting long—
I forget if I’ve said this anywhere but a crucial part of the dynamic between them is that Rauru is physically attracted to Ganondorf, to a debilitating extent, but Ganondorf’s attraction to Rauru is more to the thought of dominating him and having power over him. Sex is a way to enact this desire this while the kill-him-and-take-over-his-stupid-kingdom plan is still a work in progress, and honestly the chance to call him very dirty names and feel him react to that is at least as satisfying if not more so than intercourse itself.
In contrast—and I only noticed this recently—Ganondorf’s fantasies of killing Rauru are much more physical and visceral than Rauru’s of killing him are. Rauru’s fantasies of having Ganondorf executed are very hands-off; he has no interest in wielding the axe. What makes him shiver inside is the thought of his word, his officially sanctioned power, overpowering Ganondorf’s more physical strength. Fascinating!!
I have the headcanon that Zonai can’t get drunk, and in early drafts of what-wasn’t-ACNOC-yet, Rauru tells Ganondorf this—to a flash of indignant anger as though this is something Rauru hid from him, letting him think he could manipulate Rauru this way. In the fic series as it stands… I don’t think this has ever come up. After the second time they fucked it became less beneficial to Rauru to smugly share this fact with Ganondorf, because that means he’s making this obviously unwise decision completely sober.
Rauru is pansexual and dynamic-wise thought he leaned entirely submissive (this is how he is with Sonia, and with other partners they’ve had) until Ganondorf dropping to one knee in his formal audience set several new mental pathways on fire all at once. Ganondorf on the other hand is purely dominant—there is no part of him that desires to be submissive—and—ok—look it feels presumptuous to declare anything about Ganondorf considering I still feel like an interloper to LOZ fandom, but—as I’ve been writing him he’s either gay or his sexuality is so centered on domination that the way he is expected to interact with potential Gerudo brides does nothing for him. There’s something there that repulses him, drives him even further from connection with his people. And so his connection with Rauru is novel to him, something that’s genuinely scratching an itch he’s never had scratched before, albeit in a quite unwholesome way.
I’m sorry anon, I really do have nothing cute for you. There were moments when they almost connected, when they were almost two people who could have been friends. But after a split-second spark of empathy this only made them loathe each other more, for being someone who would inspire that want without ever really being what they wanted.

DC
The Pizza Delivery Girl’s Guide To Gotham City - Morveren
People who lived outside of Gotham City would most often think of it in terms of its heroes and villains. About Batman and Robin, Joker and Harley Quinn.
People who actually live in Gotham City would only think of one thing: surviving.
Who cares about the people in costumes when your house has been bombed for the fifth time, or your wife has been taken hostage just because she worked in a bank?
Or, in your case, when you have to make regular deliveries to places where even Batman feared to tread?
Because let's face it. In a world full of superheroes and costumed villains, the real heroes are the ones who make sure that people get their pizzas in forty-five minutes or less.
Zelda

Princess Zelda – the girl who killed Calamity – would love to fade into legend, but Link’s bought a house, he’s fighting off monsters, and he’s selling giant horses to strangely familiar Gerudo men. She'll never have any peace now.

[It's always been interesting to me that, not only does the source material make it sound like the carpenters were arrested just because they were men, as the carpenters seem to think, but that this has become the pervasive idea in the fandom, too (and it doesn't help when Aveil says she used to hate all men except for Ganondorf but that's another conversation).
I honestly always read it as not only were the carpenter's trespassing (it actually sounds like it wasn't the Gerudo that asked them to fix the bridge; according to the head carpenter, Mutoh, he says they came to fix it of their own accord because the Gerudo themselves are the one who destroyed it) the Gerudo aren't just a gang of thieves someone can join. They're a literal race of people with their own culture and practices, and it's frankly insulting for someone to be like "lol hey can I join your club???" So of course they're going to be thrown in the pokey: they're trespassing AND being disrespectful.
And yes. I know Aveil gives Link the honorary membership. Don't talk to me about that shit. In short, I think it's stupid and was the only way they could think of to give Link access to the Fortress without having to sneak around every time. Which whatever but HRM.]

003: urbosa, mipha, sidon, zelda, teba (no revali bc i know you will rank him first)
I mean you're not wrong-
I wrote whole essays, sorry. I've just been in a zelda mood recently, for no reason, no reason what so ever,, totally
No. 5, Urbosa
I'll be honest here, I'm not a big fan of Urbosa. Nothing against her, it's just nothing about her character really appealed to me. I also really hate the Gerudo Desert, so that probably isn't helping.
No. 4, Sidon
I haven't played through botw in a while, so I've probably forgotten or overlooked something, but his character always felt so dependent if that's the right word? idk. But I think his story relies a lot on Mipha and his grief, which does make sense thematically, but makes him very one-note. It's also why I'm not big on sidlink, since the pairing is rather dull in my opinion. Just say you think Sidon is hot, why bring link into this? (of course, no hate to sidlink shippers)
No. 3, Teba
It physically hurts me to place him here, but the Vah Medoh quest was very underwhelming compared to the others, which made Teba's character feel disappointing. Not bad, but disappointing, considering the other companions. But that's not to say there's nothing there. I'm fond of the connections between him and other characters, which was scarce with Yunobo and Riju especially I feel, (less so with Sidon but it doesn't hit the same). I think that's also what drew me to Rito Village instead of the other towns in game, that sense of community and closeness. His relationships with the other villagers are great worldbuilding, like his rocky yet caring relationship with Saki, his "friendship" with Harth, the obvious love and proudness he feels for Tulin, and his admiration for Revali is really cute. I hope totk brings more life to these characters (same goes for Sidon), but I'm not hopeful. Still! Love me some bird men!
No. 2, Mipha
I would put her in 1st, but that would make me a hypocrite :) Most of her true characterization comes from aoc to me, because just like Sidon, her character in botw is mostly based on her love for Link, which turned me off for a long time, especially considering the difference between zora and hylian aging, which I usually decide to ignore or change in some way (which on a side note, was originally fine until the english localization which turned Finley and Sasan's relationship from platonic to romantic?? guys what the fuck). I would've put Mipha lower on this list originally, since I have the same qualms with her character in botw as I do Sidons, but aoc kind of saves her for me. She feels more realistic now, because real people definitely do not make their one personality trait about another person, definitely not. I really like aoc as a whole, because it was basically $60 for champion content with a free fighting game attached. The interaction she had with Daruk about sparring made my heart soar, I really hope we get some champion content in totk, even if it's just a memory or two.
No. 1, Zelda
Zelda hits all the right marks for me as a character, with her personality and actions in the games feeling very real and personal, to me specifically. Her storyline is not only great worldbuilding for the franchise as a whole, being the first time we've heard of her failing to unlock her sealing powers (to my knowledge), but also relatable. She is a teenager, and has lots of pressure on her. She acts out and is frustrated with the world around her. She is basically reduced to a vessel for the sealing power, and it must do wonders for her self esteem. She takes this frustration and anger out on the people close to her. I can only speculate on what this must have done to her mental health, and let's not even talk about post-calamity. As I said before, her character hits very close to home for me, and that's why she has the top spot on this list. This is actually the same reason I like Revali so much, as both of them feel very personal to me. I also think her dynamics with the other characters are *chefs kiss*. You know she was besties w/ Revali. I'm very curious to see what they'll do with her in totk, considering choices revealed in the trailer I'm not too happy about.
This was a fun one to write, even though my fingers hurt now. It's not often I get to write out my thoughts, so thank you!

Response to that: https://www.tumblr.com/tatert07s/709332638837702657/your-entirety-of-your-reply-to-me-is-pure-nonsense
@tatert07s
Your entirety of your reply to me is pure nonsense because nowhere did I fucking say people aren’t ALLOWED to draw Brown people with their booty cheeks out.
Neither did I. I specifically said: "Are we not allowed to draw brown people in NSFW outfits if they have a fantasy outfit that makes you think of a specific real life culture, is that what you're saying?" It was a question, and not about drawing brown people naked.
You literally talked about the WOMEN characters in DA and whether or not if my conversation actually pertained to real Orientalism. Yes it fucking does 💀💀💀 because Orientalism literally affects WOMEN first. But okay, I can’t read when I literally ANSWERED that FOR YOU.
No. This is what I said: "You cited all men, 0 women. So is it really about orientalism and racism, or could it be more complicated and you focused on a specific reason because it fit what you already view of the world? Because I doubt you think orientalism doesn't impact female characters, right?" Again, it was a question, because I was pretty sure you think orientalism affect female characters, and I wondered why you centered it about males. You then answered that you centered males because that's what popped up in your mind, which is a fair reason. Like, I'm not sure why you feel like you need to misconstruct my arguments over and over again when my words are just right there.
You did not read Orientalism by Said, because if YOU PAID ATTENTION, it was not ONLY a damn art movement. It was an art movement that was initiated by European colonizers in Asian and North African countries. That art movement, UNFORTUNATELY, painted an incredibly bad IMAGE OF OUR CULTURES.
I indeed did not read it, but none of my arguments go against what you're saying there. Every country who has stereotypes will have a bad image of their culture displayed in media. It's not unique to orientalism.
Because of Orientalism, many of our Black and Brown populations face a lot of hate crimes and have to deal with incredibly dehumanizing insults about our people. Thinking we’re a threat. Ask anybody on what their thoughts are about the Middle East, because 9 times out of ten, they’re going to be repeating a lot of the same shit by thinking Brown people are some sorts of terrorists or barbaric savages (this specifically stems from Orientalism btw)
Yeah, it's horrible, but this has nothing to do with Dragon Age.
Also, that drawing you linked of Dorian is 100% a perfect example of the Orientalist shit you people draw regarding Brown people. And it’s not because his “movements” are feminine. That outfit he wears, it literally NOT the original version of the belly dancing outfit because raqs sharqi did not look like that. That outfit, was a result from again, COLONIZATION. It was influenced by the Egyptian ghawazi preforming act. And if you looked on Google. The clothing literally required more covering, but you were still able to belly dance. Modern day belly dancing outfits have more exposure because OF BASTARDIZATION.
I think you again, mixed some of the stuff I said regarding femininity, but it's okay. Raqs sharqi may have not looked like that in the past, but culture changed. Now, in youtube videos that I could watch extensively, they all looked like the youtube video I linked in some ways. Artists will not be able to guess that the way practicians of that art dress is not the way they used to in the past, and nor should they care, because they're not trying to make a historically accurate raqs sharqi outfit. You cannot claim they're racist for not doing a thing they have no knowledge of and can't access unless they do extensively historical researches with no video whatsoever to actually draw movements from, for a fantasy drawing that is not here to depict reality.
The outfits are very pretty btw.
Gerudo and the entirety of BOTW, draws from cultures in West Asia and North Africa. If your ass can somehow recognize that Aladdin is Orientalist, then you’d know that BOTW literally exhibits a stereotypical POV of Asian and North African cultures the same way as Aladdin.
BOTW is inspired by west Asia and many other parts of the world, but it doesn't claim to happen in those locations with the same populations. Aladdin does. In order for it to be orientalism, as you said earlier, you need to portray a specific culture in a bad manner. That is why Aladdin is orientalism, but neither BOTW nor DA are.
I am not going to waste my time arguing with you because a lot of the shit you’re saying is BULLSHIT. And somehow you keep on bringing up Japan, as if every Asian culture had been Orientalized by Western powers. Literally the prefix to Orientalism, Oriental, is a descriptor of somebody from the Eastern side of the world.
I referenced Japan once in that post before, because that is a culture I know better than any other one. I studied the Meiji period, specificially the moment when the world pressured Japan to modernize. Back then, there was also a lot of orientalism from people visiting the area in the XIX century. Here, your book is even quoted: http://asiainfocus.dk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/wacky-japan.pdf
Also, this is such an embarrassing statement to make because it seems like this only applies to you. Culture can play a big part in people’s identity, and their clothing. Japan has distinctive clothing, food, language, and traditions that pertain to only their culture as East Asians. Because that’s literally who they are 💀💀💀. The Gerudo Link outfit and the Gerudo people, are directly taken from West Asian and North African cultures. Heck even the baggy pants that the Gerudo people wear are sirwal/saroual pants.
Culture exists, but people are more than their cultures. French people have a lot of different cultures across the country/islands, we're still all French to the same degree. It is reductive to think that only one specific culture is determining factor to call a population a specific population, and it is inaccurate. Culture also changes all the time, the culture from 40 years ago isn't the same as the one today. It's an ever evolving status. I won't repeat myself in regards to the Gerudo things.. I've said the same argument 3 times, if you're unable toget it, it's fine.
Fuck off. You people are despicable and you’re only proving me right by how little you understand Asian culture by even trying to insert a video as your so-called evidence for that drawing. You’re hilarious LMFAOOOO
Researching the topic I'm discussing about and asking questions is bad apparently. You answered none of the questions, antagonized me constantly, been horrible altogether, and then complain about the DA fandom. Maybe the issue is you actually. I hope you get stepped on your toes because you're behaving horribly as a person.

Tumblr media
u know. u dont rlly like. get a good view of these guys when ur balls deep in a battle with them, but the more i get like closer looks at them the more i go ???? like idk. everything about them looks backwards and wrong. but as far as backwards and wrong goes its not a bad look and the boss theme is a banger so 4/10 maybe dont jump on my ass every time i step one foot onto the desert :/
Tumblr media
i just. i dont dig it. idk why. aside from the fact they’re a monumental pain in my ass, and now everytime i hear a beep even slightly resembling a guardian i shit my pants, but. idk??? as far as robots go its not like. terrible. they’re like the milfs of robots. the milves, if u will. a rilf. except i wouldnt. so its more like riwlf. but even that leaves too much up to interpretation so im just gonna call em a cunt and go. 4/10 leg game strong

Tumblr media
a hefty motherfucker. a chunk of a lad. big large. the fact this is like one of the easiest blights makes it more forgiveable to me but like whatever its got going on with the 80s hair needs 2 be sorted out. i like its moves but it doesnt hang upside down like waterblight :((( 5/10 calm down kate bush
Tumblr media
ok who doesnt like gun arms. and a gun back. this things like fuckin megatron. the whole face plate thing doesnt look bad either. honestly its kind of a look? but its dickheadery in aoc makes me wanna set shit on fire so :// 6/10 hot but will not leave u alone 😔

Tumblr media
ok i didnt realise how many arms this motherfucker has and the whole hairline behind the ears thing is not a great look. especially w the beard. in fact the longer i look at it the less sexy it becomes tbh. 3/10 they tried to make arachnophobia sexy and it didnt work
Tumblr media
10/10 i will be taking questions in my inbox but i wont be taking constructive criticism and you cant make me

annoying revali anon again... im sorry but I want to ask more, your post about link's age was really thoughtful, even though most of the info is in the game I didn't think about it and I never saw other people talk about it (even if so many people are always aking guesses about link's age!) so I want to ask, do you know Revali and Sidon's age too... please and thanks...
Ok, Sidon is easy but Revali is a tough one! And I don’t have the time to source properly. I’ve actually been writing a post about the ages of all the relevant BOTW characters (that’s why I had this info at hand for that other Link post too!) but adding quotes, screenshots, etc. takes a lot of time.
So here is a very informal answer until I manage to compile everything:
- Adult Sidon is, canonically, older than 100 (obviously XD) but younger than 130, I estimate around 110ish since we know he’s much younger than Rivan (who’s over 130). Sidon is also canonically considered more on the “young adult Zora” side than on the “middle aged Zora” side (for comparison, Bazz and Gaddison are confirmed middle aged). Zora a bit younger than 100 are more or less already considered adults or late teens (like Dunma) so Sidon might had been an adult for a while. I hope this made sense lol.
Regarding the current twitter drama: Zora mature in a very different way, much slower in general, and not necessarily perfectly proportionally slower than the other races. You can’t equate Zora age to Hylians, don’t ask “would that make Sidon around 23 in human age” that makes no sense... he’s a +100 young adult by Zora standards because he’s a Zora.
- Revali’s most likely just barely an adult, and somewhere around the same age as Link (17-19). For reference, this is everything I had to say about Link’s age / LINK /. Anyway back to Ravioli Pasta Boy, we can only make a good guess about him being around that awkward age between teen and adult. I’ll try to explain as short as possible:
- I’ll start saying that, unlike the case of the Zora, Rito age and life expectancy are the same as for Hylians. We can infer this from Revali’s own dialogue in the Champion’s Ballad, as well as from Creating a Champion. The book also tells us that Kass is considerably older than Teba, but we have nothing to compare them to Revali, that I have found. While the Zora talk a lot about their age (since it’s relevant to Link’s past and his old bonds with them) we have no numbers to compare for the Rito, sorry. STILL, go on and read:
- Revali uses “boku” to refer to himself in Japanese. It would be very awkward for anyone other than a male child/teen to use “boku”. An adult man would use boku in some settings, not in the way Revali does in my opinion (I explain why on this other post) but some people disagree... so I won’t say this is conclusive evidence on it’s own BUT I can stack this hint with the next few ones:
- Urbosa's Diary: “Revali is of the youngest Rito generation” (the diary has different wording in the different localizations but ultimately says that).
- Urbosa’s diary putting Zelda, Link, Revali and Mipha in the same age group (yes, Mipha too, don’t ask me I didn’t write this game lol)
- Revali’s considerably shorter than the other Rito adults (and I’m not even talking about Teba who is actually taller than the other Rito men).
- Other more speculative hints:
- Revali still has the same face markings as the Rito children. It might be just a design choice but why not mention it. A lot of the stuff in this game is very deliberate, so yeah.
- Revali’s emotional immaturity;
- The fact that he was designed to be Link’s rival (stated in Creating a Champion);
- The fact he didn’t have any descendancy, unlike Urbosa or Daruk, even though he loves his homeland and his people so much, he gets along with children, and all he ever wanted was to see the Rito thrive. One would think, he didn’t have the time to have a family :(
- The age gap between Revali and Teba matching the trend of the other co-pilots in which one is an older adult (Urbosa, Daruk, Teba and Sidon) and the other a youngster (Riju, Yunobo, Revali and Mipha). Creating a Champion says Yunobo is “a young adult Goron still growing” and I think all of us can see how that’s very possibly the same case with Link, Revali and Mipha.
- Creating a Champion also highlights how adult/big/confident Teba is that he isn’t bothered at all by criticism, being mostly aware of his own shortcomings, feeling no shame and just working hard. A big contrast with Revali, who while being just as hard working, is a bit of a bratty kid and an overachiever who hates being caught in what he considers “a moment of weakness” (a moment of shame). So, again, deliberate decisions while designing the characters.
I might be missing something big but that’s all for now! I’m confident most of the facts are correct (please notice that I mentioned when I make estimations and when I speculate, versus when I’m giving actual canon data and quoting!). Again, I haven’t put together all my sources yet, the quotes are from memory an paraphrased, double-check before quoting me on this ;D
Also! Do what you want with this info, make your own conclusions. Link and Sidon’s age frames are a bit more restrictive and Zelda literally turned 17 the day of the Calamity (I think the only character with her age set in stone lol), but otherwise the game and book would be like “eh, Riju was designed to look around 12 but Gerudo mature faster... Paya was designed to be around Link’s age, between 18-20... Purah is, uh, 120, kinda......... Link found the Master Sword when he was 12 or 13, maybe........¿¿?...?” like, what do you mean, does Link not fcking remember if he got the sword when he was 12 or 15 lmao!!!! Assholes!!! XD
So like, yeah ahahahha. You think Revali is 17? The game says Sure Why Not. You say Revali’s 24 and a short king? Perfectly possible too honestly. We stan short King Revali, wow much sass in such smol birb. Big bow go brrrr
Last thing about Teba and Revali because I wanted the Age of Calamity SPOILERSSS at the end:
 - In Age of Calamity *SPOILERSSS*  Teba’s dad instincts kick in on a couple of occasions... there are many battle combos I haven’t seen yet, but at least once Teba goes to Revali to give some emotional support (in the battle before the last, I think); in another occasion to help him speak his true feelings (as in literally voicing them in Revali’s stead because Teba is that blunt and Revali is... you know, like he is.) As it happens between the other co-pilots, the older one often reassures the younger one (Mipha and Sidon still have an older sister/younger brother dynamic even if Sidon came from the future and is now literally older than her lol so the rule still applies! XD). So again, I feel like the age difference between Teba and Revali is noticeable, even though Teba is still a young dad himself... but I honestly feel that if someone wanted to say both Revali and Teba are like, 25, no one could tell them that the canon says otherwise XD

Undeath in the Era of the Hero of Time: 2
aka the Tragic tale of the Composer Bros, that one Freaky Poe Collector Dude, and how all of them are actually Sheikah (and probably most of the other Poes, too)
Tumblr media
R.I.P. Here lie the souls of those who swore fealty to the Royal Family of Hyrule. The Sheikah, guardians of the Royal Family and founders of Kakariko, watch over these spirits in their eternal slumber.
Former composers of the Royal Orchestra, Sharp and Flat were born in Kakariko and so destined to serve the Royal Family.
However, by the time Link gets to meet them, they have already perished and their spirits have lingered due to their attachment to their work and research, which is twisting them into Poes. Note their green eyes (which we have established is synonymous with spiritual energy), and how their forms retain much of their human features. This is including the Triforce symbol which continues to manifest beyond death, signalling their loyalty to the Royal Family is likely what keeps them bound.
They were very likely members of the Sheikah tribe themselves, given they were at least as old as Impa, and prior to the wars, Kakariko was not open to Hylians.
“I am one of the ghostly composer brothers of Kakariko Village. All the people in this village are born to serve the Royal Family of Hyrule.”
"Though we never could figure out the power of the Triforce, we had almost completed our study of controlling time with the tones of ocarinas. Uh, I mean... Actually, we did complete that study! We would have been famous, if that hateful Ganondorf had not tried to steal our results. We could never let him reap the fruits of our research! That's why we gave our lives to protect the secret."
“To tell the truth, each of us was studying a different song, one to summon the sun and another to summon the moon. If you were really sent by a member of the Royal Family, I will tell you about the results of our study. We inscribed it on the royal tombstone.”
This is noteworthy for a few reasons. Firstly, we must note the freshness of their deaths-- it has only been a decade, approximately, since the wars came to a close. They have died as a result of Ganondorf’s interest in the Ocarina of Time and the Triforce, which seems to be a relatively recent series of events.
Their souls are kept in Poe lanterns, which upon their defeat, is again very green as if to reflect their strong lingering humanity. Given the overall nature of most Poes in the game and what we observed earlier of the Bros’ preserved human traits, I think this is sufficient evidence to say they are recently deceased
They also seem to be stuck still in their most recent state of mind, with the exclamation of ‘YOU KILLED ME... Unbelievable! Wait, you’re not one of Ganondorf’s Men, are you?’ when Link strikes them down and releases their lingering soul. It suggests they were expecting to be killed by Ganondorf, or more accurately, ‘Ganondorf’s men’.
Tangent> [ Which I was given to assume (and the manga suggests) is his followers among the Gerudo, but they’re women, and whether or not they mean it to be HENCHMEN in a broader sense, it’s a weird snag to describe them just as men. It could mean monsters, specifically, but in game, it feels as if OoT Ganondorf doesn’t quite roll like that yet. The manga suggests he does. TwinRova is brainwashing people at this stage, or experimenting with that, and it’s very hard to tell who is inside an Iron Knuckle suit.
Link gets asked from time to time if he’s one of Ganondorf’s men, too, despite being a Hylian. And the aLttP booklet mentions that when Ganondorf got into the sacred realm, he murdered his followers who’d gone in there with him. The coup was sudden, too. It’s plausible there were a number of soldiers that he’d convinced to betray the King and follow him to glory. ] < Tangent end
Nabooru does say ‘he and his followers have killed people’, however, to confirm there is a possibility that the Composers were flat out murdered.
However, I suspect something a little more unfortunate than that.
Tumblr media
[Ganondorf] tried to steal our results. We could never let him reap the fruits of our research! That's why we gave our lives to protect the secret.
We were assigned to study the hereditary mystic powers of the [Royal] family.
Zelda’s prophetic dreams and her talent for music based magics were probably central to these studies, her connection back to the Goddess of Time (Hylia), as well as their work with the Ocarina itself.
The Historia does posit that the Ocarina might be made of the same material as Timestones in Skyward sword, which in retrospect seem to be closely tied with Hylia and ancient Sheikah tech as well, so the connection between that and their research on the time controlling properties of the Ocarina fits well.
What Ganondorf probably wanted to find was the Song of Time, being that he needed to play it on the Ocarina as well as offer the spiritual stones to open the Door of Time in order to open the sacred realm and, really, he has no way of learning that song otherwise.
In actuality, though, Sharp and Flat had simply discovered the Sun’s Song, which one could play to speed up time to the next day or night. A song with a connection to Hylia’s Divine power to alter the flow of time, indeed, but not he one he was looking for.
It’s easy to forget that the Ocarina of Time itself was a valuable treasure of the Royal Family, and one of the Composer Bros notes that their studies were being conducted in the strictest of secrecy.
Those studies (the ones they conducted around the power of the Triforce, in particular) may also have been how he found out about the use of the Spiritual Stones, in gaining access to the Sacred Realm. This would mean Ganondorf knew about the Ocarina first, which led him to discover the rest, and I’ll explain why that may have been the case.
My thoughts are that the stones were, prior to the unification, all solely within the possession of the Royal Family. I believe that the unification treaties were settled around the gifting (and fair separation) of the Keys to the Door of Time amongst the allied races, as a an assurance that no bid for the Golden Power could be made without unanimous decision.
The Gerudo, being still quite militarised, labelled as thieves, and Ganondorf coming to swear fealty to the King later than the others means he did not yet merit one of these keys. I think that given the Master Sword and the Entrance to the Sacred Realm itself were front and center within the Temple of Time, and the Royal Family knew that, the Gerudo may actually have stood to be given the Ocarina itself as part of their own treaty.
And again, given the likelihood is was carved from timeshift stones once localised to the Desert region, and Ganondorf’s penchant for music, that would make sense. Without any knowledge of the Divine songs, either, there was no harm in allowing his people to be the caretakers of the Ocarina.
I’m going to assume this was the reason Ganondorf managed to get his hands on some of the Composer Bros’ work, at least.
And, I think when they first became aware of the attempts to steal their papers, realising that the full bulk of their research also focused on the mystic qualities of Royal Blood and the Triforce as well, they physically destroyed their research notes in an attempt to keep the Royal Family’s secrets from him.
It is possible that it became apparent that they could be captured, and Twinrova could easily transport them to the Spirit Temple for brainwashing. Then, they could be made to tell them everything they knew. They may have heard rumours, or been threatened with an ultimatum.
Given Zelda was the keeper of the Ocarina of Time, and that Sharp and Flat themselves seemed to have been Sheikah researchers, it stands to reason that Impa was well appraised of their findings as well. I think the Composer Bros were personally close to the Princess, and that their disappearances may have been part of what started her mistrust of Ganondorf alongside her visions. Impa never once doubted Zelda’s feelings about him, and this is a possible reason why-- she may have known about his attempts to steal the research and the deaths of the brothers.
But there was nothing incriminating enough around their deaths to pin anything on Ganondorf or his followers, evidently, even if privately, Impa knew better.
So when they say, ‘we gave up our lives to protect the secret’, I’m pretty confident that means they took their own lives to protect the secret in an honour based suicide.
And I believe they took their lives in the Royal Tomb, after inscribing the Sun’s Song on the stone.
Tumblr media
Given their graves in Kakariko, this means it was very likely Impa herself who found their bodies, or the evidence of what they had done, and presumably understood why. I don’t know what she told the King, but unable to prove the Gerudo King’s involvement, the sad thing is that the court probably just assumed a terrible accident or that the brothers cracked under too much pressure.
Whatever the case, their service was recognised and their graves organised (again, likely by Impa, as she was the head of Kakariko). This may also mean that she had the unfortunate task of overseeing the burial of the very last few survivors of her clan, knowing full well nobody would ever know what they had sacrificed.
So how does this tie in with the Poe Collector?
Tumblr media
The owner of the only apparent Ghost Shop in Hyrule, the Poe Collector is a very strange individual. Most prevalent theories have speculated that he is the Armory Guard who was very dissatisfied with his lot, and wished something interesting might happen. This is primarily because they occupy the same spot, and the Poe Collector seems to recognise Link, and knows his name. The Triforce Sash he wears, as well as the crude drawing, also suggest some prior connection with the Royal Family, though given the rag-like state of his clothes and the seven year time gap, this was long ago.
But there is also the possibility that he is the Creator of the Eye of Truth, a reclusive Sheikah who was banished from Kakariko by Impa for dabbling in dark magics and necromantic practices, who once lived atop the Well of Three Features.
While this is typically thought to be Bongo Bongo itself, the two share many of the reasons the connection can be assumed, and I think the Poe Collector actually has a stronger case for it.
Shikashi, the old wise man living firstly in Castle Town and later in Kakariko, tells us a bit about the Sheikah and the history of the town, notably mentioning that once, a man lived where the well is now.
“Have you heard the legend of the "Shadow Folk"? They are the Sheikah...the shadows of the Hylians. They say they swore allegiance to the King of Hyrule and guarded the Royal Family. But with the long peace, no one has seen a Sheikah around here for a long time.  However... I heard there is one Sheikah woman living in the castle...”
"A long time ago... There was a man in this very village who had an eye they said could see the truth! Now usually, you have to train your mind's eye most strenuously to actually see the truth... But this fella, no, they say he had a different way of doing things... His house stood where the well is now..."
It seems as if people don’t actually know what happened to the Shiekah. Most assume that they must have died out, possibly from casualties in the war. In my last post I touched on the History of the Sheikah and their likely roles in the way, including the possibility of a faction divide (not unlike what happened with the Yiga). Instead of going off and doing their own thing, though, it would appear the defaulting Sheikah were practicing dark magics, and are very probably a large part of the various criminals sent to the Twilight Realm by the previous sages, including the last Sage of Spirit.
Of course, it is entirely possible that a few of them got away. The Poe Collector may well have been one of the lucky few.
Given the Gerudo Fortress is close to Hyrule and its occupants are known mostly for banditry, I’m assuming that’s a more recent military outpost built leftover from war to control traffic to and from the Desert, and that there was probably somewhere more like Gerudo Town or the nomadic tent villages ala FSA as prior settlements. It may even be the case that the Gerudo were not actually part of the civil warring, themselves, able to avoid it given their isolation.
If THAT were the case, it lends far more credence to why the King of Hyrule gives Ganondorf such a large benefit of the doubt-- he has a limited prior history with the man, which appears to have been positive albeit at arms length, given their shared religious asset (the Spirit Temple). He would have no previous military clashes with Ganondorf or any real reason to believe that him coming forward and electing to unify his people with the greater Kingdom of Hyrule could have much in the way of ulterior motives. At face value, Ganondorf is merely making a sensible political move (one probably thought of as humble and noble, ironically) for the prosperity of his people.
And since is clearly in the process of this close to the game’s beginning, it can be reasoned that up until Nabooru, there was a very different Sage of Spirit taking up residence in the Spirit Temple (regardless of its clear Gerudo craftsmanship). In fact, Twilight Princess shows us these original sages as they were before Ganondorf takes them out during the seven year gap (at least in one of their available forms):
Tumblr media
Which might explain where a lot of the Sheikah have gone, when you also consider the Spirit Temple possesses a lot of mirrors as a theme, and seems to later be totally remodelled into the Arbiter’s Grounds. In fact it has one that even looks suspiciously like it might be the OoT representation of the Mirror of Twilight (aka a Portal to the Underworld). The interesting thing about it, is the big platform on chains lowers down in front of the Goddess, as if giving criminals a chance to repent for their sins before being lifted up and (presumably) falling into the reflected portal to Twilight on the platform beneath them.
It should also be noted that the Hover Boots (Saint’s Feet in JP)  and the Eye of Truth (the the Man atop the Well made) are both Shiekah artifacts that are needed by Hylians to access the Spirit Temple, and the guide happens to be a Poe. Meanwhile, the Gerudo have figured out their way there with horses and flags.
This cannot possibly be coincidental.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Returning to the point, these all serve as potential threads of vital connection between Ganondorf and the Poe Collector, especially if he is a former Sheikah who served the Royal Family as his sash might suggest.
In the Seven year gap, Ganondorf successfully attacks all but the Sage of Light, Rauru, who presents himself to Link both as an owl (Kaepora Gaebora) and as an old man, presumably for familiarity and comfort. No kid wants to wake up as an adult suddenly and be greeted by a white ghost dude with a detached mask for a face and floaty hands.
With both the Shadow and Spirit Sage influences dampened, and the Hyrulean Royal Family done away with, the Poe Collector reappears. In the time he has lived without the Eye of Truth, or even whether or not this was the case all along and he created the thing for others using his own insights, he has obviously ‘extensively trained his minds eye’ to see the unseen. This is what the single, glowing red eye is symbolising beneath his cloak, and it by itself is a fairly potent indication of a Sheikah.
Like Sheik, his clothing features loose white material and his head is covered. His cloak is purple, where dark blues and purples are associated with the Shiekah as well, not unlike Sheik’s body suit and Impa’s armour.
And, if he is indeed the Man from atop the Well, the Poe Collector stands to be a valuable informant to Ganondorf as well, perhaps even the source of knowledge that leads the Gerudo King to release the seal on Bongo Bongo.
It’s probably why he knows who Link is, and keeps tabs on what he’s up to.
He would have the prior connection to the Spirit Temple, a resentment for the Royals, other Sheikah and Impa, and he would --as somebody who advocated for the opening of and presumably dark control over the sacred realm-- be very much aligned with Ganondorf’s goals and actions. He is shown to praise Ganondorf and seems very appreciative of what darkness he’s managed to unleash upon the land.
And finally, he is the only remaining resident of Castle Town, yet seems entirely unbothered by all the ghosts and roaming dead. The walking dead would not a problem, however, if as the former Master of the Well and a Dark Sheikah, he can actually control them.
Tumblr media
Again, I touched on Poes in my last post, but I want to make a suggestion:
What if Poes are specifically born from the lingering spirits of the Sheikah?
This garden variety poe looks to be dressed in white and purple, which fit a Sheikah aesthetic and match the Poe Collector, too.
A green flame? I am taking this to be a symbol of a spiritual force that is retaining some humanity, especially in the case of Poes, with Flat and Sharp as excellent examples.
Most common Poes tend to be yellow eyes and flames, which seems to indicate the loss of that humanity; they’re now prone to attacking humans, and other sources of vitality and magic, to sustain themselves. Red flames might indicate this sort of level in general, but a little stronger, perhaps stuck with an emotion like anger.
Poes that have fed on an ample amount of vitality since the loss of their humanity, and have grown magically stable, seem to be prone to colours like Blue. This seems to indicate potent magical force in the undead, after the shedding of all humanity, perhaps closely tied with the cool blue flame present in OoT.
A purple flame, given the association of the colour with hatred and malice and dark magic in the general Zeldaverse, I’m going to take at face value. A purple flame would indicate a malevolent spirit. This is common from enemies like Big Poes.
That’s a pretty loose stab in the dark, but those are my educated guesses.
So, why would they be Sheikah spirits? Everywhere you find a Poe, it makes sense for a Sheikah presence to be there.
The Graveyard? Undoubtedly many Sheikah. Sharp and Flat? Sheikah. Hover boots and the Eye of Truth, to find an ‘inviting ghost’ that leads you the rest of the way? Presumably a Sheikah who has taken that duty on beyond death. The Field? Fallen Sheikah were part of the war casualties, while the Hylian soldiers seem to form stalcreatures.
Tumblr media
Even the Poe Sisters, who were likely once the resident keepers of the Forest Temple upkeep. If you have never noticed, the Temple itself seems to be an overgrown fortress of a kind, with battlements and magic portraits, fallen soldiers turned Stalfos, and evident ties to the Royal Family. The Poe Sisters, not unlike the Composer Bros, retain distinct features even in their death. They do not speak to Link, but they are not hostile either, save for Meg at the end who engages him and a light test of combat.
They are there, held by their duty and loyalties, still doing their jobs in overseeing things. It is absolutely reasonable to assume that these ladies may well have also been high ranking Sheikah, especially as it seems they were immune to the magics of the forest which would otherwise render them Stalcreatures upon their deaths, like the soldiers.
The flame rules are applying a little loosely to them, but overall, seem to fit.
It certainly would be an interesting thing to note, if the Poe Collector was a former Sheikah, the Maker of the eye of Truth who lived atop the Well, who defaulted to pursue dominion of the Sacred Realm with Dark Magics and ultimately escaped persecution. His house was demolished, he has nothing but praise for Ganondorf, he wants the world to get worse and he has no fear of the dead... and he collects Poes.
The lingering souls of the Sheikah foolish enough to lose their lives in service to the Royal Family.
That’s worth thinking about.

So, while chilling I, naturally, started thinking about breath of the wild and a thought occurred to me... ‘Why have I never seen anyone talk about how the depiction of the hero in the cut seen that plays during Kass’ recount of the battle 10,000 years ago has red hair?’.
Tumblr media
[ID: screen shot from the cut seen, zoomed in on the hero. The stylised illustration depicts a person dresses in blue and red, holding the master sword and has flowing red hair. End ID]
Now, this could just be stylisation, but Link has always been some kind of blond.
Tumblr media
[ID: A page from the Hyrule Historia showing the dates and various designs of Link through the different games. In each he is wearing some variation of his green tunic, shield and sword, and he is blond, or has very light brown hair in each. End ID]
Furthermore, the illustration that depicts the princess has blond hair.
Tumblr media
[ID:  screen shot from the same cut seen, zoomed in on the princess. The stylised illustration depicts Zelda wearing a white dress with flowing blond hair. Her arms are outstretched shooting out gold light. The complete triforce is to the right of her. End ID]
So, why is there this sudden deviation from Links design in this cut scene? This isn't something that Link or Kass is looking at, I don't think it appears anywhere in the actual game itself. Only the audience is shown this.
But... do you know who does have red flowing hair just like the illustration of the hero?
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer. Zoomed in to focus on the emaciated corpse of who is suspected to be an incarnation of Ganon. He has very long, matted red hair that has faded in colour and is wearing a red or orange robe around his waist, gold arm bands and a headpiece with a glowing yellow jewel in the forehead part. His body is arched backwards, and his face contorted in pain as a blue disembodied hand adorned in geometric gold jewellery grasps the centre of his chest, the red-black energy of calamity pours out from under the hand. The grey-green tone of the scene washes out the true colours. End ID]
Yeah, dehydrated Ganon. So basically, what I’m saying is is that maybe the hero depicted in the cut scene isn't a reincarnation of Link, but rather Ganon, or, at least a Gerudo king. In addition to this, the illustration of the hero depicts him with green eyes,
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot of the hero in the cut seen zoomed in on his eye. End ID]
And who else has eyes that colour?
Tumblr media
[ID: Left Image is a zoomed in cropped screen shot of Riju, she is resting her head on her right fist and is looking out towards the viewer. She has green eyes, red hair, blue lipstick and is wearing ornate gold jewellery and head piece. Right image is a zoomed in cropped screenshot of Urbosa facing the left of the image, she also has red hair, green eyes and blue lipstick. End ID]
So, not only does the depiction of the Hero have red hair but he has the green eyes of the Gerudo chieftains. Green eyes too is something that Link has never had, as he usually has blue, brown or black eyes depending on the style and design of the game/official artwork. Furthermore, this also contrasts to the black used for Zelda’s eye in the illustration,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Image 1: zoomed in and cropped image of Zelda’s eye in the cut seen. Image 2: the same image of the Hero’s eye from before. End ID]
The difference is subtle, but obvious side by side. Depicting his eye as green was undeniably purposeful. The evidence that this is a Gerudo man and not a Hylian man is building up...
From the time line, we know that Link isn’t always successful, or even exists at the same time as something catastrophic happening in Hyrule, so perhaps 10,000 years ago the reincarnation of Link failed to manifest, but a reincarnation of Ganon did. And, with Demise being a separate entity in the form of the Calamity, it didn’t poses him and so was spared from the curse that binds Gerudo kings to evil. Therefore, he would have every opportunity to be a hero, and take the place that Link failed to fill. Or, alternatively, the reincarnation of Link and Ganon became one.
We know that Gerudo women have to find men from other places to have children with, so a Gerudo chief and a Hylian man having a child together is most certainly a common occurrence seeing how close the two peoples are to one another both geographically and socially. So, perhaps 10,000 years ago a male child was born to the Gerudo chief and her Hylian partner, and this child was the reincarnation of both Link and Ganon as per the parameters of Malice’s curse.
In the Hyrule Historia, it is stated that Demise’s flaming red hair is a call back to his eventual connection to Ganon as his ‘”incarnation of hatred”, and the reincarnations of Link and Zelda are a result of blood relation to the first hero and princess that defeated him.
So, going forward, lets assume that the hero depicted is a reincarnation of both Link and Ganon simultaneously. Ultimate good and ultimate hate fused into one person that is capable of both the greatest good and evil. Furthermore, someone who posses both the triforce of courage and power. Since we don't know where BOTW falls in the time line, it can be assumed from the presence of the Arbiter’s Ground’s from Twilight Princess in the desert of BOTW that BOTW follows the timeline where the triforce is not re-fused as it is in Wind Waker. However, looking back to the image of Zelda in the cut seen, a complete triforce is before her at her feet.
With two of the triforce pieces being possessed by someone with courage and power that choose to be good, it would make sense for the princess then to have the opportunity to reform the triforce and use all its power to repel and seal the calamity.
Okay, so that’s all very well and good but... how does that make dehydrated Ganon the hero from 10,000 years ago? Well, perhaps there was still malice inside the hero, perhaps the Zonai wanted to make sure that Demise, malice and Ganon stayed gone... And this is where I would like to turn this theory over to everyone else.
Please feel free to rip this apart or add your own ideas onto this theory. I honestly don’t know if anyone else has this theory because I really haven't seen it talked about before on like the Zelda theory channels I watch on youtube or anywhere else online.

Can we get Sooga fucking Link in Gerudo armor? Like he just thinks its a pretty little thing in cute clothes??
I. Love this idea. Surprised it us so long to get here tbh. Let's go!
"This is ridiculous.”
“Oh come on, Sooga!”
Kohga had found Sooga to be a bit of a stick in the mug lately, so he commanded both Cil, and another blade master to take him out for a night of fun. So far, Sooga wasn’t having any. They were at a recently made bar, found right at Kara Kara Bazaar. The place was jumping, but Sooga was the only one not having any fun. Clif shrugged.
“If you want to go home and disobey Kohga’s orders, be my guest.”
Sooga mumbled, running his hands through his hair. It was one thing to waste time on something as stupid as drinking, but the fact that they were doing so OUT of disguise, made Sooga EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The third Yiga, a rather foolish one named ‘Von’, chuckled, nudging Sooga by his shoulder.
“Look, NO ONE knows who we are here. We could give them any bullshit name, and just have some drinks.”
“I don’t like either of you seeing my face.”
“it’s why we’re ALL like this! We’re ALL vulnerable out here. Now come on Sooga, ONE drink! Cil, back me up here!”
Cil gave a shrug of his shoulders.
“Kohga DID give us rupees to spend on you. You might as well take up on his generosity.”
Sooga took a deep inhale. He HATED being away from his Kohga. But, this WAS a command, who was he to disobey?
“Fine, fine. I will have ONE drink, then we’ll go home, and we’ll tell Kohga I had my fun. Fair?”
“Now we’re talking! Yo! drink vai!”
Von waved wildly at some poor waitress (he wasn’t a rude guy, he just liked women a BIT too much), who walked up to them, notebook in hand.
“Listen, we want three Noble pursuits, and make them strong for us, yeah? Our guy here needs to come out of his shell! Right Sooga?”
Sooga turned to him, ready to verbally humiliate him in front of some little vai, when he saw her. She was a vision. A small thing, with hair that reminded him of tabantha wheat, a small, yet sleek body littered in scars, and her eyes. Her eyes were emotionless and blue, like the coldest chunks of ice. Her black, lacy attire covered her face, but with help from the lighting, Sooga could see the shadow of a small, stunning mouth. The vai nodded, making note of the order, before Cil raised his hand up a bit.
“Oh and uh, I want something to eat too. Something to help me get a little less drunk than these idiots.”
The vai nodded, before walking off past the crowd of people. Sooga watched her leave, and found himself fascinated. He never particularly found himself attracted to women (hell, most frightened him), but something about this one...caught his interest. Von seemed to notice this, laughing as he shook his shoulder.
“Wait a minute! You were checking her out! You were checking a LADY out! Holy SHIT!”
“I...was not. I’m gay, what reasoning would I-”
“Maybe you’re bi, Sooga, don’t rule it out!”
Cil threw a napkin at his face, scowling.
“You’re going to suggest he cheat on Master Kohga? Have you no shame?”
“Isn’t Kohga CONSTANTLY fucking someone? Like no slut shaming, but didn’t he JUST fuck Daruk like two weeks ago? If anything, you’re selfish for NOT trying this out.”
Sooga and Cil turned to look at him, but struggling to follow his logic. Von reached over to steal someone’s drink, helping himself before he explained.
“You’re telling me Kohga WOULDN’T want you to explore and find out what you like? If we told him you were acting like a prude again, he’d have ALL of our asses for not doing as he told.”
Von wasn’t very smart, but even Cil and Sooga had to admit; he had a point. Cil sighed.
“I hate to agree with him, since he’s about as smart as a rock under a lake, but the worst you can do is give it a shot. If you don’t like it, oh well, Kohga would surely love a story.”
Sooga never thought about something like this. He had dated a woman back in his teen years, but now? Not really on his mind. But, Kohga always DID implore him to explore, so he nodded.
“Alright, I’ll give it my best shot. Just one question. How the hell do you talk to women?”
Von smacked his forehead with the palm of his hand. Right, these two were gay, and he was pan, course they didn’t know shit about girls.
“Look, I’ll do all the talking for you. I got you covered.”
Just then, the vai walked in. Drinks on a tray, as well as an oily plate of fried eggs on rice. Cil helped himself to his drink and to his bowl, while Von wrapped his hand around her hip.
“Listen, vai, my friend here, thinks you’re super cute. How strong of a chance does he got?”
Sooga threw his hands up in the air.
“Really. THAT’S you ‘getting me covered’?”
“Hey, women like it when you’re honest. So, how about it?”
The woman scanned him up and down, and Sooga was ready for rejection. Only, it didn’t happen. She grabbed a hold of his face, and pressed her lips against his. Even through the fabric of the veil, he could tell she had soft, eager lips. She pulled away after a minute, before using her head to motion him into following her. Von held a big smirk on his face, as if he had accomplished something.
“See! Full proof! now GO!”
Sooga was on his feet before he could understand what was happening. He caught up to her, holding her hand as she guided him to a back room. Sooga peeked into every room, curious. Each room was covered in a thin curtain, not only giving a slight view, but doing nothing to handle the sound. It let him hear all types of moans and cries from men alike. She let go of his hand, motioning for him to stay put, before slipping off into a room. Sooga, bored and curious, peeked into one of the rooms, where the curtain was fully parted. He got to see a Zora absolutely PLOWING into the aft of a Gerudo woman. He had a rather nice...pace. Not that Sooga was noticing.
“That’s it, you can handle one more for me, can’t you?”
The poor woman couldn’t say anything past her pillow. The Zora looked up from her, to him. He was about to apologize, when he watched the fishman cum, right into him, all while making eye contact with Sooga. He chuckled after, giving Sooga a big flash of teeth.
“You like watching, eh big guy? Come in, I’ll give you a better view.”
Sooga was pulled away before he could even think of accepting the offer. He was suddenly thrown onto a nice, soft bed. She closed the curtain behind them, letting just a bit of light poke into the room, but not enough to see important details of her figure. She crawled into the bed, crawling over him. He was about to speak, when she dove into his neck, dragging her lips against his neck. Sooga sat there with his hands in the air, uncertain of what to do. That is, until she grabbed his hands, and put them right on her ass. He took the hint, and did the same thing for her as he did for Kohga. He gripped tightly onto her cute little ass, and she moaned against his skin.
That sounded so,,,familiar to him, in a way. He was about to ask for her name, when he felt her start to pull off his clothes. He sat up, helping her take off his shirt. Her hands wandered his body hungrily, and he couldn’t help but feel rather flattered by such a hungry touch. He was about to reach for her clothes, before she started to scoot down, pulling down his pants, just enough to reveal his semi hard cock. The hunger in her eyes was immense, and it only added to his arousal. He watched as the veil lightly parted, and she stuffed his head in his mouth. He tensed up a bit, uncertain of what to make out of a foreign mouth on his cock.
“You’ve...done this before, I take it?”
Her eyes looked slightly amused as she continued, slowly bobbing her head up and down on his girth. She was talented at this, what with how her tongue roamed, and her how her hands massaged and rubbed at his balls. He didn’t expect it to feel good. But it really, really did. A stranger sitting there, sucking him off, all while he heard others get off in rooms right next to him. He combed his fingers through his hair, slowly pushing his cock in her pretty little mouth. He got greedy, digging his fingers into her hair, and forcing her to take more. She didn’t mind in the slightest, slobbering all over his cock as it moved back and forth into her warm mouth.
“You like this, don’t you? Satisfied by a stranger’s cock? Didn’t know vai were filthy little creatures.”
At first he thought it was rude, but he saw her eyes. Hazy, lost in the realm of lust. She liked this. He was sitting here, pleasing her mouth with his own eager cock. Then suddenly, she pulled away. He sat there, wet with drool and hard, thinking he was suddenly unwelcomed, when he saw her pull off her pants. She even went so far as to peel off her panties, throwing it in his face. It kept him distracted, at least long enough for her to push her ass against his cock. He was going to tell her to stop, a bit worried about how a woman’s insides would feel, but he acted too slowly. She sank herself onto him, moaning loudly as his cock pushed inside of her. He hissed at the feeling, mainly because such a tiny body felt so tight around his cock.
“S-shit. Don’t...move so fast. Easy does-”
But this vai didn’t like listening. She held onto his thighs, and started to ride him far too quickly. He was ashamed to admit he liked it. Ashamed to admit he liked it enough to hold onto her little hips, helping her ride his cock. Her jewelry jangled as she rode him, and her little lips kept giving him such horny, needy moans. Though the sound...was odd to him. He swore he heard those breathy sighs before, but from where? He didn’t feel like asking though. Not when such a cute little ass was taking him for all he was worth. Granted he preferred absolute dumpers like Kohga’s, but this one was definitely on the cuter end. So cute, he couldn’t help but smack it. She seemed to love it, and like a horse, seemed to go only faster on him. It felt so good, fucking such a cute thing like this. He was going to cum. He was about to pull himself out, but it was too late. He came, pulling her right to his chest, and stuffing her. She mewled and whimpered, even as he pressed his lips against hers to try to silence her. He tore away from her, and saw her eyes, lost in arousal, with mouth open and drooling behind the cloth around her mouth.
“You really do enjoy the touch of another man, don’t you?”
She nodded meekly as his hand wrapped around her pretty throat. He had no idea why, but something in him didn’t want to be gentle to her. He wanted to be rough with her, wanted her to be bruised and stuffed with his semen.
“You could handle a bit more, couldn’t you little vai?”
She nodded, helpless as his grip on her throat only made better.
“I thought so. Lay down for me, right on your stomach. I’m going to show you what a man can do.”
And for the rest of the night, that was EXACTLY what he did.
----------------------------------
“Wait. You..and a WOMAN?!”
“P-please don’t be mad...”
Sooga didn’t want to tell Kohga, but he could NOT keep a secret from his master. They were all currently waiting for Zelda and Link (She requested they escort them to some ruins in the desert), and he found now was as good of a time as any. He waited for the backlash, only to hear Kohga laugh.
“Well how about THAT! You like WOMEN now?”
“I’m...not sure. I know I enjoyed it, and I know I was attracted to her, but other women...make me uneasy.”
“Hey, maybe you just have a certain type. Either way, I’m not mad.”
“You’re...not?”
“Course not! You’re getting to know yourself! I can’t say I like women like that at all, but hey, if you do, I support ya in finding out.”
Sooga couldn’t help but smile. Kohga had been helping him discover a lot about himself, and he continued to surprise him.
“I...thank you, Master Kohga. That means very, very much to me.”
“Eh don’t sweat it big guy. Now look alive, we got company!”
Sooga was about to greet their guests, when he saw Link come into view. Hair of wheat, black cloth, and blue, cold eyes. He froze like stone, and Kohga noticed.
“What’s up with you?”
“I...I just now realized-I’m pretty damn sure I’m still gay.”
“The hell you-”
Kohga knew that look. The look of regret, some shame, with even a pinch of arousal. Kohga threw his hands in the air, completely ignoring his guest’s puzzled gazes.
“SOOGA YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!”
Sooga only had one thing to say. He looked down and Link, and without much regard for manners, spoke.
“Fuck you, Link.”

Life-Sized Blogging
toushindai / 30s / cis female (she/her/hers)
A known bisexual. Administrative coordinator by day. Writer also by day. Asleep by night, unless something’s gone terribly wrong. Autistic, at all hours.
My special interests take the form of serial fandom obsessions. It’s currently and very narrowly whatever the fuck Rauru and Ganondorf have going on in Tears of the Kingdom right now. If you followed me for (counts backwards on fingers) Hades, Transistor, Baccano!, Soul Eater, or any other fandom I don’t post about anymore, sorry about that. I do not have any control over the direction of the special interest.
I write a lot of fanfiction, specializing--I may as well cop to this, I think it's been the case since I was in college--in what we'll call eroticized power dynamics. You can find me on AO3. You'll also find me occasionally peddling my wares on my nsfw twitter. My main twitter, wallofillusion, should be considered defunct at this point.
Below the cut, I'd like to highlight a few of the fics or fic series that I'm proudest of for each fandom.
Tears of the Kingdom
Questions of Kingship: Two PWP one-shots followed by a multichapter plotted work. Elements of dubcon and noncon throughout. Recommended if you like made-up politics, think TOTK maybe should have thought a little harder about the implications of its made-up politics, or just want to see two horrible men who hate each other fuck about it.
Following Ganondorf's oath of fealty to Hyrule, Rauru "invites" the Gerudo chief to stay at Hyrule Castle while Gerudo's subsumption into Hyrule is negotiated. It's a strategic action; Rauru does need to keep an eye on him. But his frustration with Ganondorf's false humility hides a desire that even he is not comfortable with, and Ganondorf has his own plans for the self-styled king of Hyrule.
Hades
Hello it is I a megzag main. reach out and grasp will be your best starting point. It focuses on Megaera's friendship with Thanatos and how it is affected by her (and Thanatos's) relationship with Zagreus. This series is available as a pay-what-you-want e-book at itch.io. From there, feel free to branch out; there is a lot of porn here and some things that are not porn. A further guide to my Hades fic can be found here.
Transistor
Not so much of the power dynamics in this fandom but I love Red/Boxer so much. I am not immune to a sword with a gentle voice. Here's the two of the on the verge of becoming a couple; here's what was as far as I can tell the first Red/Boxer smut on the entire internet even though I showed up three years late. Here is a post-game fic in which they finally must discuss the final act of the game.
Baccano!
Maskmaker trio my beloved. I've written over 100k across two separate "Monica is alive" AUs and my sole comfort is that I could never be as obsessed with this thought as Huey is.
Mad Religion is a one of my masterworks: set in the 2001 of an AU where Monica never died, Huey and Monica stumble upon a branch of SAMPLE only to discover that Elmer has already stumbled upon the cult on his own and is trying to make their sacrifice smile. Because that's what he's for--isn't it? If you like writing dealing with unnamed religious trauma, this one is for you.
Other than that--wow I cannot even begin to summarize my work in this fandom. Here's Ronny and Maiza getting to know each other in 1711. Here's Huey being the worst father imaginable to Liza. Here's a lil tone poem of Huey thinking on Monica and Elmer in the 1930s. Conversely here is Fermet leaning real hard on Huey's boundaries. There's more out there, my friends, but it's so scattered. I'm not even mentioning Ronny/Lucrezia here.
Soul Eater
Hello it is I a Medusa/Stein main. And also a "Stein's relationship with Lord Death/authority" main (I was working through some things at the time).
What it Means to Lose Control: When Stein has to give up control in order to fight, some are more than willing to step in and claim it from him. A Medusa/Stein divergent AU. I turned this into an e-book, with some side stories included; you can get that here (mobi | epub)
A God without an Ego: An examination of the relationship between Stein and Lord Death—where it works and where it falls apart. Looks like I never put this one on AO3... well, I'm not linking each piece individually on ff.n. The best way to read these ones is on e-book (mobi | epub)
Prior fandoms
If you want to go further back than "the tail end of my college years" godspeed and for god's sake please don't tell me about it. WallofIllusion on ff.n, you'll find some The World Ends With You, some Ace Attorney (original trio), some Death Note, and some Yu-Gi-Oh!. Also more Soul Eater than I transferred over to AO3.

LGBTQ Headcanons
Hi, I’m jumping on the bandwagon, I have solid headcanons for a few of the group, but finally mapping them all out will be great.
Sky: Cassgender, Demiromantic/Gynesexual, He/Him This is mostly because I don’t see him putting much thought into gender, and he just goes with the flow, he’s used to He/Him, but won’t complain if other pronouns are used. He’s only attracted to women, but it does take him a long time to actually fall in love, it’s why Sun is really the only one who’s ever captured his heart.
Four: Aro/Ace, They/Them Because Four is a literal mess of genders and romantic orientations they default to AroAce, because anything else is just weird when they’re all shoved into the same body and they’re all ace anyway. They/them pronouns mostly work for everyone, so they’re a somewhat stable person when fused. Here are the headcanons for each color:
Green: Male, Hetero/Apothi, He/Him Green is your standard straight cis male, but he’s also apothisexual, which is just an extreme version of asexuality that means he is actually repulsed by sex, not just lacking sexual attraction. He’s usually the white bread of my headcanons, but he’s got a crush on Dot so I usually run with that. He doesn’t like they/them pronouns, but he’s gotten used to them so he can make his siblings more comfortable when they’re stuck as Four.
Red: Demiboy, Bellus/Ace, He/Him, They/Them Red is, as usual, a cinnamon roll. He’s just standard asexual, feeling no sexual attraction, and he does enjoy traditionally romantic things like cuddling and kissing, but not in the context of a romantic relationship (hence Bellusromantic). He uses he/him and they/them, but some days he will have a preference and he won’t be shy about correcting you.
Blue: MtF, Aro/Ace, She/Her And you wonder why Blue is always angry. She can live with They/Them pronouns, but absolutely prefers she/her. I tend to flip flop between making her a demigirl or full on female in the context of my stories, but in headcanon form, she’s always a trans-woman. Poor Blue is always suffering since she can’t yell at people to use she/her when she’s stuck inside Four’s body.
Vio: Demigirl, Demi/Apothi, They/Them, She/Her Vio prefers they/them pronouns, but won’t object to she/her. They don’t necessarily take a long time to fall for someone, but you need to have a really deep friendship with them, no matter how long it takes. Unfortunately for Vio, they fell for Shadow and still haven’t really gotten over the heartbreak even though they knew it wouldn’t end well the moment they realized what was happening.
All in all, Four is just a mess. Especially Blue, because oops i made her suffer.
Time: Male, Demi, He/Him Hey, a cis guy. I make him full on Demi because why not, and also him and Malon don’t have children yet which could be considered odd depending on the time period. Normally you’re supposed to have kids like immediately, and both Time and Malon look to be in their mid twenties, which isn’t old by modern means, but definitely was in ye olden days.
Legend: Genderfluid, Bi, He/Him, She/Her, They/Them Pronouns change from moment to moment. They’re solidly bi, and despite leaning more towards women, Ravio managed to capture his heart and they have already gotten married-for tax purposes, of course ;)
Hyrule: Agender, Aro/Ace, He/Him Poor Hyrule didn’t even know what gender was until it was explained to him. He’s too used to He/Him pronouns for anything else to feel normal, so he just goes with it. He also didn’t understand the whole romance thing until he saw Time and Malon. To be honest, he still doesn’t understand the whole romance thing. The woes of being aroace.
Twilight: Male, Demi/Hetero, He/Him Look, another cis! He was good friends with Midna, and it wasn’t until near the end of the journey that he actually fell in love with her. He’s dealing with it rather well, but he’s still salty that his heart would betray him like that.
Wind: FtM, Pan/Ace, He/Him He hasn’t told any of the group that he’s trans, mostly because he doesn’t want them to think of him any differently, even if logically he knows Four is kind of going through the same thing. Tetra’s Crew all know and vehemently defend him when others try to misgender him. Aryll loves her big brother and will also jump to his defense, and Wind is just happy he has such a supportive grandmother, because puberty hit him like a truck and he hated it because it was all wrong. The moment he had a breakdown because of his period was the moment his grandmother knew that she needed to do something because she wasn’t going to allow her grandson to suffer because of her inaction.
Warriors: Male, Bi, He/Him He keeps it on the downlow, mostly because he has horrible taste in men: namely, they’re usually the bad guys, like Girahim, or super fucking weird, like Girahim. He was very conflicted over it and has never brought it up, even if he’s sure Fi has told Sky because it was Girahim. Not to mention he found Volga hot and he’s had a crisis to this day, because which villain will he fall for next, Zant!?
Wild: Bigender, Aro/Apothi, He/Him, She/Her Wild didn’t think anything of it when he actually enjoyed parading around Gerudo Town as a woman. He didn’t think anything of it when he felt only mild disgust when he was told that Mipha loved him. And he felt bad but also a little grossed out when he had to reject Zelda. He genuinely didn’t think anything of it until Teba explained that it wasn’t exactly normal to not ever want a mate. And he was a little embarrassed when Riju explained that no, men usually didn’t take active joy in parading around as a woman. Still, he has a free pass into Gerudo Town now, so he’s good!
And there we have it: Sky’s apathetic about gender and also really in love with Sun, Four’s a mess, Time loves Malon, Legend is pure bi energy, Hyrule is a confused bean, Twilight is salty, Wind is happy now, Warriors has terrible taste in men, and Wild is also another mildly confused bean.
And yes, I shoved as much ace representation in there because Asexuals Need Good Representation and Asexuals Are Part Of The LGBTQ Community.
oh right!
Linkle: MtF, Lesbian, She/Her We need a lesbian on the team, and trans representation while we’re at it? Awesome! And also, her grandmother telling her that she’s the legendary hero when all the heroes are known to be men makes a lot more sense if her grandmother mistook her for a boy when she was younger.
