[catches your slam dunk with open arms] ADRI i am always holding them in my hands so gently and tenderly!! god where do i even start. sunny comes to be so, so important to prim in so many ways but i'm always rotating how they can be completely honest with each other around in the head. it is a constant thought because sunny really is the person prim would be the most upfront with about things like navi and termina and his body dysmorphia and all the disconnect he feels about who-how-what he is.

no one else really compares, even amongst other heroes and links, though it'd be kind of unfair to compare anyway when they're the same person — but also not? hard to explain but prim attaches learning to love himself again to learning to love sunny, and the innate trust that comes with wanting to and eventually actually believing in the future sunny represents is one that...i don't think can be replicated anywhere else.

plus! the fact that sunny is upfront in turn! i think about how you said he wouldn't lie about how things don't get better, how the bad things don't go away, and it crushes prim. can't expect it not to. BUT the longer they're together, the more he gets to see that, well, sunny lives anyway. sunny lives — fuller and truer to himself than prim does — anyway. and it's hope, given how it used to be handed to him back in kokiri forest when he'd ask saria or the great deku tree in the quietest moments with the tiniest voice if a fairy would ever come to him. of course one will. of course he'll be capable of being someone who feels like himself again, despite everything.

number two: you know how kids can mirror or mimic your posture and/or body language in any given situation if they're vibing particularly well with you, whether consciously or subconsciously? it's so bad with prim @ sunny. it's sooo bad and it's half-because they're technically the same person, half-because that's His Adult-Person-Dad. they tilt their head at the exact same time at the exact same angle at someone they're talking to and the person has to pause mid-sentence because it's uncanny af. and also disgustingly adorable 🥺🥺
