I hate reading SOSO much. Okay, well, I like it when it comes to like messages or comic books, but actually reading novels and long texts without any sort of image ? God no. I mean, I WISH I could enjoy it, but I physically can't.
The reasons are simple. First of all, if there's a lack of images I will have a trouble following and truly imagining what the fuck is happening. I NEED visual support. I also have difficulty reading. I will skip lines and words and get lost into long paragraphs. Also, whenever I'm done reading a line, I sometimes spend too much time trying to find the correct follow up. I know that if I go back to read this, I might just struggle alot, though it is easier considering I'm the one who wrote the thing and I understand myself well enough.
I often have to re-read something multiple times because I just physically nor mentally cannot force myself to read slower. I might be able to for a short period for time or for shorter texts, like messages, but most times, I will just not be able to keep it slower. I tend to get confused between multiple spellings for certain words, and I will take super long before even understanding what I'm getting wrong. Exemples: Loose and Lose. Whine and wine. I definitely have some kind of problem I should get checked out LMAO
for ur essay work big to small.. do a big vague outline and gradually make it tighter and more specific until it's good. like ex: "this is the paragraph i am starting with, i want to mention x y and z" , "paragraph 2 I'm going to mention a b c and how it does this and that". n then just flesh it out over and over again in small bites until it's gone like eating vegetables
Ok this us really good advice ... but first I need to uhhh read the writings that were assigned throughout the semester LMAO
WAIT I have my e-reader!!! Ehehw I will listen to them >:D
I have not read the gravity falls flatland fanfic because I don’t understand hierarchies in writing or shows or whatever, I can’t read,I surprisingly don’t read fanfic that often, and for the last 1-2 years I’ve had my own bill cipher backstory idea that I refuse to give up even though it’s not very well thought out and now I feel left out and sad that I don’t really want to read it because of my poor reading skills.
i never posted my review of into the drowning deep here...
i thought it was fun! probably my favorite interpretation of mermaids i've seen so far.
i did think the book was way too long for what it was, it got really repetitive at times, particularly in the beginning before the voyage and specifically during Jacques & Michi's POVs (we get it they are god's perfect killing machines please just move on). i also felt that the ending was very abrupt, since the last 20% really sucked me in and it was all finally picking up momentum for me.
all that being said, i am a huge fan of the book's found footage vibe, and i thought the author did well balancing all of the POVs and i appreciated her effort to explore all the different perspectives and experiences of the cast, without it ever feeling forced or performative. in a giant research vessel like that, you’re going to have people from all walks of life, and it was nice to see that reflected among the characters.
the mermaids/sirens were SO interesting, i’m obsessed with mira grant’s mind. personally i would be first in line to start studying these creatures irl, even if they’d just bite my face off. i was disappointed that so many of the scientists took the attacks so personally, though. for all the commentary on climate change & conservation, i didn’t like that the scientists were constantly talking so carelessly about revenge and destroying all the sirens. it felt like a strange disconnect between the narrative and the characters. or maybe i can say that since i’m not the one being attacked by man-eating mermaids….. 🙈
anyways if you're looking for a fun creature feature i would recommend it. the ending felt like a clear set-up for a sequel, and i went looking around and apparently the author actually has an entire series planned, but no one will buy the books.... i'm not going to pretend like i understand publishing but i do know that it's hell <3 she does has the prequel/original short which i may check out since i know it's short and not nearly 500 pages like this one 😭
First time posting and I don't really know how tumbler works
I need advice on how to get through a book, specifically a book series, because I ordered a book series (Moomins) and I have a track record for not finishing books
