Paislie didn't remember how they'd gotten to the bathroom or how long they'd been leaning over it, wave after overwhelming wave of nausea washing over them even though nothing came of it.

There was blood on their hands. Blood that wouldn't come off. The blood of thousands of nameless babies, the blood of their sisters, their brother, the twins.

And the last show back in Showfall added so many more names to that list. People who had taught them trust and given Paislie their trust in return, only to have it end the only way it ever could have.

They looked down at their hands, stained red with Ranboo's blood from the bandages being changed, and Paislie couldn't help but wish what she saw were anyone's hands but hers.

The blood wouldn't come off, it never would, there was no point in trying, those babies are dead because of you, your siblings might still be in that death hole knowing you never looked for them if they're not already dead too because of you-

Paislie broke down in sobs, all but falling to the floor in front of the sink.

Their thoughts were like screams as they leaned against the rickety cabinets. They couldn't think, they couldn't move, the blood wouldn't come off their hands no matter how hard they scrubbed-

Hands gripped their wrists, pulling their hands apart, and Paislie realized they'd been scratching at blood that was no longer Ranboo's, but Paislie's own.

Paislie let their hands go limp. They turned their face down as another sob escaped their aching body.

"Hey, hey," Charlie said, gently leaning down to try to see their face. "It's okay-"

"No- no, it's not, I- stop it, don't you remember what I-"

"If this is about those kids, then no. It wasn't your fault, okay? None of them could have survived. You've already made stuff- way beyond the technology there is outside- here," he interrupted them.

Paislie couldn't bring themselves to look at him. They'd hurt him, he was avoiding it, what if he was only doing this until Randy and Sneeg got back from the food drive, what if Randy was already back and didn't want to talk to them-

"Paislie, Paislie, stop," Charlie said, sounding scared himself.

"Let me."

Paislie grasped at Charlie's hands as he slowly untangled them, a throat-scraping sob making their entire body shudder.

Smaller, though still firm hands replaced Charlie's touch.

"Hal."

They looked up at the nickname, only to make eye contact with Niki.

"I've got you, shh," Niki told Paislie softly. "Just breathe, okay?"

Paislie leaned into Niki. Their chest hurt but what was new about that, they thought automatically. You should be dead.

"Niki," Paislie sobbed out, grasping at the older's sweatshirt in an attempt to ground themselves.

Niki's hand slipped behind their head, cradling them gently. "I know. I know."

They were quiet for a moment. It took everything they had in them not to curl up as close to Niki as they could and give up fighting to breathe.

Little by little, they tried to block out the words that were already on repeat in the back of their mind. Little by little, it became instead reminders of Sneeg's existence. And Charlie's. And Randy's. Henrik's. Niki's. Ranboo's. And maybe somehow Hadlee's, though Paislie hardly dared to hope for that now.

Even with Niki's guidance, it felt like hours later when he finally stopped shaking long enough to walk back out and to the corner of the floor he shared with Ranboo. Charlie was already there on top of his own sleeping bag, playing what looked like some kind of old handheld game that must have been in the RV for a while.

"Hey," Paislie managed out. "Sorry. About- all that."

Charlie only looked up for a few seconds. "It's okay." He paused to consider his next words. "Probably not the first time that's happened to someone anyway, given the fact we're all.. us."

"Fair point," they offered halfheartedly in response. "Still."

The room was silent for another moment while Paislie glanced over at Ranboo, who had slept through the ordeal- which Paislie couldn't have been more grateful for. They needed the rest anyway.

Paislie looked up after seeing Charlie's handheld in their peripherals.

"Wanna try?" he offered, holding the small device out to them.

"You sure?"

"Yeah."

Paislie could've sworn he saw the faintest hint of a smile on Charlie's face.

They nodded with a tentative smile of their own as they accepted the offered device and scooted closer to Charlie to let him explain the controls.

By the time Sneeg and Randy got a glimpse of the two next, they were dead to the world around them, having quietly but energetically invested themselves in the game.

Randy could have sworn that despite the exhaustion lingering in their eyes, it was the happiest Paislie had looked since before they'd escaped.

my dude you can't be making my computer crash when I only have like 20 tabs open. that's rookie shit!

anyway my computer crashed right before the interview ended and too much memory was going ... somewhere ... for me to get R running right and they didn't tell me it was going to be a case study project thing that I'd be doing today instead of just a normal interview and AAAAAA.

maybe tomorrow I can just be fucking normal because oh my god. this is too stressful.

also my desk chair is starting to just. randomly. drop down very slowly. which means that at some point sooner than I want to I'll have to get another one. which SUCKS. but FINE. GOD.

#i still feel okay about this. #mostly after talking to my job coach buddy who was like 'wow this is—no joke—an inappropriate process they're putting you through' #so you know what yeah. he's right. i've had three interviews in three days #and this one was a surprise!! code in front of someone!!! #which if you're not familiar is just the most horrifying experience #NO ONE should have to code in public #it's an activity best done in the privacy of your own home with no one else looking at you #and i think he's right—i should definitely make sure that this isn't the norm for this company #to be EXTRA SUPER INTENSE and chaotic with its employees #but i'm also kind of inclined anyway to just take the job and get a year of experience (or whatever) on my resume #and if it sucks hit da bricks #and if it's like this now because they're a bunch of overexcited nerds with no talent acquisition department and otherwise it's fine #great! so much the better! #i hate that academia is so trash that i'm like 'wait this isn't normal' when someone else is like 'yeah it's not supposed to work like that #because this? well it's not as bad as a campus visit that's for sure!! #i only have ONE interview a day instead of back-to-back half-hour meetings with an entire department!! #and now i get to do things like go to the gym! #instead of say 'okay well there's about two hours left until dinner and i have to chat with the grad students' #or whatever #and say 'omg wow $70K as a junior analyst?!' because that's like a decent base salary for an assistant professor #meanwhile everyone in industry is like wtf why are they making you interview so rapidly like this that is not enough money etc etc #anyway. i'm tired. i think i'll go lift heavy things so at least it feels like there's a reason to be sweating my ass off.

Dream I had so I’m gonna post it here:

Luz has a journal and wrote about Eda and learning magic as a human. In her most recent journal entry, she wrote about Hunter. She also draws little doodles in her journal

However, in this dream, Luz's dad is still alive and it was her mother that passed away.

Her dad enters her room and Luz explains to him how Eda taught her magic even though she knew humans can't really do magic. She showed him a light glyph, explaining that she found a way to use spells. She handed her dad her journal and he saw the recent pages were filled with just light glyphs. He tapped on one and watched as it floated up. In amazement, he continued to tap all the light glyphs in her journal. Soon Luz’s room was filled with floating light orbs.

He saw that in using all the light glyphs, he revealed that entry about Hunter. Unable to help himself, he reads it. He looks up at Luz and says, "Oh so my little girl has a crush on this older boy named Hunter?” He gave a grin while pointing to a small doodle of him in the journal to Luz.

Luz, blushing, tried to steer away from the conversation, "Papá, that's not the point! The point is Eda still taught me even though she knew humans can't really do magic. Before she knew I could use spells this way!”

I'm pretty sure Luz does have a crush on Amity at this point but I said 'Oh! But she didn't deny it! Sneaky Dana. A win for us!'

Weirdly enough, I don't remember why but Luz ran out of her home and entered a car thinking Eda was driving, sort of escape ride situation.

"Eda, step on it!" Luz yelled.

"Uh, okay," a voice that was definitely not Eda's said. To her surprise, she saw Hunter in the driver's seat.

Luz jumped back because he was one of the last people she was expecting and she's like 'oh it’s the guy that my dad thought I have a crush on'. 

Then I woke up

Idk how but it took place in the human realm so idk how the spells were able to work. I mean I think Luz actually manage to figure it out. But ngl I like this a possible fanfic prompt where Luz’s dad is alive instead of her mother

#next time i wanna try the mushroom & tofu one they have ... it's not crazy expensive but $8 for 4pack of ramen is pretty expensive to me #i also hit up the nice pet store thats right next to the groceries store before going in for groceries and got special pet messes cleaner #and its honestly REALLY nice this shit is great. im so happy ive been looking for a really good pet messes cleaner #outside of my apartment is like ?? oil stains on the concrete from previous tenants #(my neighbor told me people used to throw their trash outside and let it sit there for awhile so it seeped out and got into the 'crete) #and online i heard of this trick of taking dish soap and soaking it on there and then using clay cat litter to pull it up and out #so i bought a really cheap bag of cat litter on this trip and im gonna try it #in junction with some old dish soap that guy who gave me a buncha stuff from his storage gave me for some reason #i didnt wanna use that dish soap for like actual dishes or my hands etc cause it feels gross and its old & opened and half used #and liquid soap cant self-sanitize so ... #and the other cleaning stuff he gave me i had to trash cause some of it was REALLY gross but the dish soap LOOKS normal #so im gonna use it all up on this just to try. better than tossing it out. not sanitary enough for my plates but fine for the concrete #if it doesnt work i might go out and get professional concrete degreaser from home depot if it isnt too expensive #or i'll TRY and get maintenance to take care of it lol. im not sure they'll bite for cleaning that up tho #i just hope i dont get a ''WHAT ARE YOU MOTHERFUCKERS DOING!?'' kinda thing from maintenance for putting that on there

Loving Threats

Inspired by a song and its remake. But I am trash at syncing lyrics to storybeats.

Danny and Jason met in the ghost zone when Jason was dead, but he forgot it all coming back to life. When the two of them were together, they went through the entire song and dance (literally) of asking each other out.

I'm serious. There were like 10 different musical scenes with varying themes. It was Fenton Romance at its finest. And Jason's old school romance heart was certainly played a large part too.

It was their love language. Dramatic acts, vague threats and all.

Post revival and reconnection with the Batfam, Jason spots a familiar face. A flood of memories wash through him, and with it a bout of giddiness. Though he's currently dressed as Red Hood, Danny'll be able to tell who he is and keep quiet. Just have to greet him in a way that he'll recognize.

Danny is out taking the kids for a walk. Dan was grumpy since he wasn't allowed any ecto chips, for both his health and as punishment for severely beating a guy who tried to mug Danny without permission yesterday. Ellie is quite cheerful, since she's going to visit the Crocodile and Zombie sewer-dudes when Danny's not looking.

All of a sudden, Red Hood, casually wielding a gun, approaches Danny. He makes an overly familiar gesture, wrapping an arm sideways around Danny's waist. He whistles under the hood, a faint green glow from the white eyespaces.

"Well who do we have here? You look half dead, honey."

Danny looked at him. Horrible pick up line? Check? Thin veneer of confidence? Check. Zero self control around Danny? Check.

Jason. The rancid ecto signature is new, though. Honestly, not surprised he's a crime lord now.

"Well, you know how it is. The kids have been running me ragged. And you sure haven't been any help."

Danny puts on an innocent smile. Jason sidles closer. A few bystanders watch them with varied expressions.

"Well you don't need to worry about that now. How about you and I go somewhere more private?"
