Sora cried on his knees for Riku because he missed him—NOT because he thought Riku was dead

Especially for those who aren't into Soriku they somehow think because he thinks he's dead he does that?

Like no, he JUST MISSES HIM all that much. If you don't even ship it that's fine, but like he still misses him.

In Kingdom Hearts 2, Land of Dragons Sora runs into someone who appears to be an organization member because of the coat (however it's Riku)

In the novel (I'll be using the novel for inside thoughts that the characters think) Sora states how it was really fun to fight him despite being from organization XIII.

Then in the novel he states

The fight reminds him of when he fought with Riku and makes him believe that is Riku. Because of that, he is excited and happy.

And every chance that something comes up that makes him realize Riku was there, he gets excited and is just elated.

And he realizes it's Riku because of the wording that Shang tells him. That's when he says At least I know he's okay and he's super happy about that.

Then when he sees Mulan and Shang he cries and thinks of himself and Riku. He cries because he misses him, this happens in the game. And in the novel he is basically crying because he is so happy Riku is alive.

He finds out he is alive here— not then. And after this ( and even before) he goes through just happy whenever he thinks of him.

Even later when he gets Mickey to eventually tell him about the promise he made with Riku, Sora is happy and states you made a promise with Riku that means he's okay.

So when he cried on his knees, it's because Sora just misses him so much— not because he thinks Riku is dead.

actually it’s kinda funny how KH1 ends with Riku telling Sora to take care of Kairi and then Sora completely does not do that and searches for Riku refusing to go home at all without him

#kingdom hearts #soriku #like from the hetnorm view of ‘ah the love triangle is resolved! sora gets the girl and who knows when we’ll see riku again !#there’s even a montage in sepia like he’s dead ! but that’s okay cause sora will be happy with kairi :)’#and then sora immediately not going home with kairi #and the epilogue or whatever showing he’s looking for riku #that’s p funny i can’t lie #i love how CoM has repliku literally call sora out on this too #and sora has nothing to say bc what can he say #he feels bad but he’s not sorry #his pride won’t let him say what he wants to say ‘i want you to come home. i miss you’#especially with ‘riku’ acting like a jerk again. sora doesnt want to risk coming across desperate or weak. pathetic #which is ironic since bc i think if sora was willing to say how much riku means to him that would’ve had an affect on repliku #bc that’s what kh1 era riku needs to hear right? he needs to know that sora really loves him #and isn’t just playing hero for his ego or bc kairi is waiting for riku to come back or something #…which makes the kh2 reunion hit harder. bc all of sora’s walls are down then and he is basically pouring his heart out to riku #he’s weak and he doesn’t care. he’s pathetic but it’s not a bad thing #he’s just being honest about how much riku means to him

I literally just got all of Kingdom Hearts this weekend blasted into my brain and I already have mourned over KH2 Riku 5 times

need an age regression/de-aging fic where a post-KH4 riku has to take care of a younger sora, and bb sora is just completely awestruck over how strong and kind and pretty (and tall!!) his best friend riku got… and is so transparently smitten that riku, who is actually dating present-day sora, is just like: wow we really were oblivious how did either of us miss sora’s glaring crush on me??
