30-day fictionkind challenge...all in 1 go!

My kintype is a (psychological? spiritual?) vaporeon pokémon whose sex I don't even know yet. Equal chances of being male or female. I'm trying to figure out if I'm in fact a feral one, likely abandoned someplace wild by an irresponsible human ex-owner as an eevee? Maybe?

My dysphoria is pretty light tbh. I used to absolutely despise being human when I was younger and full of debilitating self-hatred. I've gotten much better and healed since then, and I accept that I live in a human body; it's really not so bad. Hence why I call myself "alterhuman" instead of just "nonhuman" entirely. Still can't avoid nor ignore my otherness though, and I don't want to.

I am exclusively open with only some of my online circles about being alterhuman. Nobody I know IRL would understand at all. I'm okay with keeping certain things to myself.

I participate in the Pokémon fandom regularly! I play the games, occasionally watch the anime, and make my own AUs and fanfics and fanart. It's fun.

I often fictionflicker! Mostly for two particular (and very AU) protagonists (Randy Cunningham from RC9GN, and Jack Spicer from Xiaolin Showdown) of my biggest fanfiction/crossover project Retoldverse which I have a blog for here: @retoldverse-crossover-au. It's not a sideblog, I made my own separate new email/account for it to be its own mainblog. Not extremely active but ok I'm done self-plugging...as for other flickers, do other pokémon species count lol?

When I was a teen on Tumblr I gradually began hearing about "otherkin" and after while the mentions became so frequent on my dash, not always in a good light, that I decided to look into 'em and I at first was leery because it seemed very mockable but at the same time the notion seemed familiar to me in a strange way. I must've been...16 maybe? Maybe a little younger. I've been here ever since.

My introduction to fictionkin was basically what I said in #6 lol.

I am similar to vaporeon in that I like being in pools, rivers, and beaches. I can't fuckin' swim though...I sink like a rock whenever I try.

I don't look anything like a vaporeon whatsoever.

I know/have seen a bunch of fictionkin of all kinds.

Never had a canonmate. It would be nice to have at least one.

I doubt it's possible for there to be a double of my kintype because I am just a random vaporeon, not canon to any existing media at all.

Shifts are nice. I get them most often when I'm in or near a body of moving freshwater, less so but still noticeably when I'm in a manmade pool, or when I'm watching environment ambience videos about lakes/river sounds/visuals on YouTube. It can also happen randomly, just springing up on me suddenly.

I don't like KFF, especially not the ones who actually know and understand what they're doing and still do it anyway.

I like symbols/flags/etc. They're neat.

I used to think my kintype was spiritual but now I'm not so sure. More likely psychological and parallel-lifey?

It definitely has something to do with my neurodivergence yeah. I'm autistic.

Nobody's ever pointed out to me that I'm "like a vaporeon" in any sense.

I would like to buy more vaporeon merch one day, probably stuff from Etsy. I have an art charm of a normal vaporeon and a shiny one on the opposite side attached to my wallet currently, I bought it from the Etsy store LoafiDoodles. Totally recommend!

I appreciate the open-mindedness of the fictionkin community in general, and also in the entire otherkin umbrella.

I can get pretty obsessive over Pokémon in all honesty lol.

The worst anti-fictionkin take I've seen is one we're probably all familiar with: "You're delusional, you're schizophrenic, you're trying and wanting to be something you're not." I hate hearing it.

Haven't seen any "best" anti-fictionkin arguments, imo.

I like listening to environmental ambience of running freshwater like I said before. Not really music except for abstractly.

I have a favorites folder on DeviantArt just for vaporeon fanart that I really love.

I love fish tacos and I like to float in swimming pools and wade in rivers whenever I get the chance to and the weather is right.

It's pretty cool being a vaporeon, overall. I wouldn't change it.

Exactly! THAT is what I want KQ to understand. Yet they continue to miss both the point AND the mark. (And they're making it very hard/nearly impossible for new fans to get into them.) If they just make more merch available, it will get bought up so fast and so consistently. And that would give them a MUCH larger profit margin — and all without their artists' labour. Also, yesss to more international fanmeets and fanevents. Honestly, I'd like the company to monitor them more closely though, like make it so the same people don't win over and over and over. Please, let them meet new faces.

🌸 Jongho is injured again. 😩 I hope he gives himself time to get better, even if it takes months. I know he probably won't. Because he'll want to be back doing shows, with the other members, singing for atiny. But it would do him so much good to let it heal properly. It's so risky to his long term health. I know it's his choice at the end of the day, but I hope he sees a doctor who pushes for it.

I like chill songs but they also make me wanna cryyy lol - if they’re happy so am I but yes, please, drop something less melancholy. Can still be slow! Just not gloomy lol. See Wooyoung is so back and forth like Ughhh Bad killed me, but then I watched his other dance performance of 1-800-273-8255 and I may or may not have cried for 10 minutes solid lol

San is so disproportionately passionate about things and I love that so much. He’s such a sensitive person like, the slightest upset really seems to hit him and make him speak up which is a beautiful thing, he seems like someone who really wouldn’t stand to let someone get pushed around, but also a sad thing - because being so empathetic and sensitive can be tough sometimes. But they all seem to support each other well, so I am sure he’s got enough members around to keep him from getting too lost in the feelings.

Jongho is 100% the funniest member purely because of how his humor hits. It’s very sudden, out of the blue and very dry, which is right up my alley. He uses intelligence and sarcasm as humor without being overly mean about it, and it’s such a delightful contrast to some of the other members’ more juvenile jokes or physical humor. The group really does have it all in every way.

Oh my fucking god don’t get me started on the serial fanmeet callers omfg. My friends and I firmly think there should be a limit, like max 1-2 calls per comeback, let new fans get a chance. Because what happens is it’s all these big GOMs that take advantage of the situation and keep the calls to themselves rather than giving back to the people that HELPED them get them. I am friends with a couple smaller GOMs here in my state and what they do is if they win more than one or two calls over a comeback, they end up raffling off the extra call(s) to their buyers - so anyone that wants to have their name added who’s bought from the GO that the call is from gets a chance to get their name drawn. I think that’s so much more fair and I feel like other GOMs should do that, esp the ones that do have 200+ albums per order and pretty much a guaranteed fancall.

Oh the series is so delightful. I haven’t watched season 2 yet - I’m hesitant bc I’ve heard it ends sad and with the current Hollywood writer’s strikes it’s a question mark on when the next season will be out - but I will watch it soon, I have every reason to believe it’s just as good as the first though, Gaiman being so deeply involved in it helps a lot. He’s such a good writer, one of my favorites. I’m going through s1 with my kiddo slowly.

I saw that about Jongho, poor thing - It seems to be connected to his earlier injury. Those meniscus tears are awful to heal from without surgery - and even with it it can be tough bc of how much stress his legs are under for his job; hopefully he’ll be able to take some time off like you mentioned. After this concert tour hopefully they can all take a short hiatus/break and recover before the next one. (I know I’m wishing for a miracle but)

Ahh I saw that little clip on twt with the hearts! I love it. you can’t tell me they don’t know what that means, they have enough editors ffs. I’m so excited to get my summer photobook (which is what these seem to be from I think?) It’s in the process of shipping so I am eagerly awaiting V_V Patience is not my strong suit lol.

Alright time for an unpopular opinion

I enjoy it. The BT21, tiny tan and webtoon, merch by bts. I enjoy it all. Do i think BTS is milking us dry with these things??? HELL NO.

It's an insult to their talent, their fame, their hardwork and input to say they shouldn't monetize every bit of themselves in a capitalist world where if even if they don't someone will for them.

I will gladly give BTS all my hard earned money if I didn't hate being poor. But don't try me cos I will. If there was a way to directly put my money in BTS's pockets I would cos when I say I support them I truly mean it with my whole heart. I love them very much and I want to see them be rewarded for all their hardwork.

What I hate to see is the company or third party getting a huge chunk of monies that's supposed to go to them. I hate that with a passion. If BTS had a Ko-fi I'd be donating everything to them because they earned it and they deserve it.

It's a capitalist world. People work for a living and they donate almost as much as they earn. BTS have achieved a lot and have put in the work and deserve a comfortable life and lifestyle as their hardwork can afford.

I won't lie, I enjoy the BT21 characters the tiny tans and the webtoons. I really do. If i could consume all my favorite artists in this way I'd be very happy. It's one way to immortalize the boys and freeze them and shelter them from the effects of diminishing returns.

If you don't see the value in this, if you don't want to consume BTS in this way fine don't but don't speak for some of us who do.

I buy bags and necklaces and bracelets and lingerie and perfumes and artwork and shoes everyday. I like the Gucci belts and I pay a lot for it even though it's fake and that's all I can afford chilee I'd rather a fake leather bag made by Taehyung.

If you think I'm not finessing my way into acquiring all these merch made by BTS you have another thing coming. May be its consumerism but I'd donate all my belongings to make room for these items in my closet.

That said please donate to my Ko-fi so I can get that Bag by Tae and whatever Jikook want to make. Do it for the culture✊🏽

I should mention that even though this originally came up when discussing hypothetical animated reboots, most of the detailed ideas I have actually fit more in the format of modern day shorter seasons*. Partially because I first started thinking about it in relation to Netwinx, and partially because I thought it would be fun challenge for myself to see if I could make it work. Also because I think it's a good reminder of the limits people making adaptions are under that I don't think fandom is typically good about acknowledging

Anyway, and this is still pretty rough, I'd say the coma would last about half the season? I mentioned that I would kind of have this be a connected plotline between Musa and Flora, with Flora being the one actively looking for a way to heal him. I figure the episode they go to Lynphea could include a small subplot of Flora actually finding some rare plant or whatever that she could use for it. Haven't worked out the logic yet I'm going by vibes, but having her meet that goal right after her personal story on her home planet feels right to me

I would also shuffle the episode order around a bit so that the events of At the Last Moment would happen between Flora and Tecna's Enchantix sacrifices. It keeps the momentum of Stella's subplot going a bit more and limits the amount of detours near the end of the season**. As much as it would be a shame not to have all the Winx there to help Stella, I would have the B(more likely C)-plot of that episode be Musa and Flora staying behind to work on healing Riven. It would mostly be scenes of Musa talking to Riven while Flora is doing her thing, maybe throw in some medical mumbo-jumbo reason why they're running out of time, ending of course in a big sappy reunion when he wakes up. Probably one of those cliche things where it seems like it didn't work only for him to say something dumb out of nowhere. I live for that shit

It leaves enough time left in the season for Riven to actually be present in it outside of his coma, and it has everything on a super high note to make the tonal shift caused by Tecna's "death" hit that much harder. Especially since things would also be at a high point in all the other characters' arcs***

*I say shorter but I def mean 10-12 over the more common 6-8. 6-8 is damn near impossible to do without either breaking the seasons in half or changing stuff I really wouldn't want to change

**My theory is that the reason almost every filler in s3 was packed in after them getting Tecna back is because they wanted to have more time with all the girls having their Enchantix for merch reasons. Luckilly I don't have to worry about that, so I can space these things out

***Obviously Stella saving her kingdom, I'd have Bloom and Sky make peace with Diaspro then too since it would make sense for her to be at the wedding, that also affects Aisha since I'm being controversial about her love life+I might work in Nabu there somehow to deal with her arranged marriage stuff, and possibly this could be the episode Solarflare gets together? TBD. Tecna and Timmy wouldn't have any major development because too much is happening already but there would be some fluffy scenes for them as well
