There is never a time I am not thinking about the kiss from the Crimp adaptation or Cyrano, specifically the 2019 filmed version, but it's the way James McAvoy's entire body *freezes* on the second attempt; he shakes his head, his mouth opens and his lip curls like he wants to recoil but he *tilts his jaw up* as Eben Figueiredo continues to move closer. And they both pause in that position where their teeth are slotted together but their lips aren't moving, they just tremble, and then when Christian goes for it and fully commits and grabs his face so he can't run away and can't hide, Cyrano's expression *melts* and it's *bliss* a moment, confliction the next; and for all Cyrano tried to deny the beginning, he's the one who clutches onto Christian's arm to keep him close. *He's* the one who follows after him when he rips away, and when they part it's violent with its reluctance and denial and hurt and *realization*...

And I just think that's neat, you know?

Looking Glasses Announcement: Unfortunately, I'm going to have to put the comic on hiatus for a while.

TL;DR: I hurt myself and won't be able to draw for a while, but I predict I should be able to start updating again in two weeks.

I've avoided mentioning this on here, but drawing this comic has given me a pretty severe repetitive stress injury. Turns out you can hurt yourself if you draw 4+ hours a day in addition to your 9-5, who knew? I've been seeing a physical therapist about it, and was in a good place for a while, but I was slacking a bit recently and let things get bad.

Basically I need to take a break and not use my hands for a while. I haven't worked on any art for the last three weeks, new pages are coming from the buffer that I've built up, which has run out. Well, I actually have one more unreleased page, but I think I'm going to hang onto it, because this is a good cliffhanger. ;)

I'm using my vacation time to take an entire week off work, and just rest. I'm already feeling a lot better than I was three weeks ago, so I'm optimistic that I should be able to ease back into drawing at the end of the week. My hope is that I should be able to have new pages in two weeks, but I'll keep you updated.

I have some plans for supplemental content I can release during the hiatus. I'll put out a poll in a bit to see what people are interested in.

Thanks for reading the comic, I love working on it, and am itching to get back to work as soon as I feel better.

soooo “thanks to them” is the episode title, right? i'm sure theories have already been floating around about who we’re thanking here, and it probably means a lot of thjngs, but I love the idea that the episode title is thanking Masha... I mean, they’re certainly a small role, but the way they advance the plot is enormous. Within 3 minutes of meeting them, we learn that they replaced the creepo that was chasing Vee, and they teach the kids about rebus puzzles (and say they found a BUNCH in Old Gravesfield?? ok? what??) so the gang can discover that they’ve found a map to titan’s blood. And then they RETURN at the Haunted Hayride (incredible use of Chekhov’s Gun here. er, Chekhov’s Hayride) to TELL THE STORY OF THE WITTEBANE BROTHERS which we’ve all been FREAKING OUT ABOUT for MONTHS. Incredible. Yeah. Thank you, Masha.
