Femslash February Plans

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve subjected you all to a good “Overly Ambitious Plan”

So. I think the fandom is starving for f/f content - mainly because there are very few main female characters, and one of them has died and another lots of us headcanon as aroace (as well as potentially not female)

Solution this: scrape it for minor characters lol. After a bit of help on the Discord, I’ve come up with the following 20 ships.

(At the moment, I’m intending to do 100-word drabbles for them, unless I get more inspired.)

Zara/Alamasi

Who are these characters? Santi’s second-in-command lieutenants. Zara also becomes acting Captain when Nic leaves, and Alamasi also ends up in the Iron Tower being mean to Morgan before appearing in a larger role in Sword and Pen.

Vague plot ideas? This wants to be the two of them about Nic. Probably sex. Hate-fuck? Fantasising having Nic with them? Comforting Zara? Idk. Could be pre-series, otherwise it’ll be during Ash and Quill, after Nic has ‘defected’ but before Alamasi goes to the Iron Tower in Smoke and Iron.

Khalila/Morgan

Who are these characters? You know these ones!

Vague plot ideas? I don’t actually have any specific ideas for these two. Might do Modern AU, or Morgan Lives AU where she and Khalila are in charge together. Or sad ghost dreams, idk, idk.

Khalila & Glain (queerplatonic partnership)

Who are these characters? You know these ones too. Though here is the place to put that I headcanon Glain firmly as aroace and probably non-binary.

Vague plot ideas? Fluff, if I can. just these two bonding and loving each other. PS please do tell me if QPP is outdated now, most of the ace and definitely all the aro blogs I used to follow have vanished from tumblr.

Annis/Morgan

Who are these characters? Morgan, we know. Annis is an Obscurist, who was best friends with Wolfe’s mother Keria Morning. She helps Morgan out in Smoke and Iron and dies in Sword and Pen and will definitely be appearing in future fics. #AnnisLives

Vague plot ideas? Prooooobably Sin-verse sex between the two of them in Smoke and Iron.

Morgan/Gargi

Who are these characters? Gargi appears in Sword and Pen, she’s a long-dead woman with Obscurist powers who still lives on in some form in the ring that Morgan puts on.

Her canon timeline is extremely glitched, thank you Caine. Dates include >5000 years ago, or after 200AD, and she’s called both Archivist and Obscurist Magnus at different points. I prefer to just use Wikipedia.

And maybe one day I’ll write something about how the Library tries to assimilate all the great minds of different cultures into itself.

Vague plot ideas? Them getting to know each other inside the ring, probably. Time travel, memory stuff, probably. Probably sex, but I’ll just see how it goes, I might have too much fun with storytelling.

Morgan/Sybilla

Who are these characters? Sybilla is an Obscurist who appears in Paper and Fire. She falls in love with Morgan during the six months Morgan spends there. confesses her feelings to Morgan, and Morgan “felt awful” about telling her “I couldn’t be with her.” Morgan promised to help her, but then ran away without telling her. Sybilla tried to commit suicide, but is survives.

This, btw, is the reason why for ages I head-canoned Morgan as straight. There are lots and lots of possible interpretations for why she ‘couldn’t’, including, y’know, just not wanting to lead a friend on, but my brain fixated on the Straight. Lol.

Vague plot ideas? It demands a decent length fic, actually, tbh, but I won’t. This will be angsty and probably retrospective, whatever I do with it. Also, someone should write Jess and Sybilla bonding over their grief.

Keria/Gargi (Archivist Khalila/Gargi?)

Who are these characters? Keria Morning is Wolfe’s mother, the Obscurist Magnus before her death at the end of Paper & Fire. Gargi I’ve addressed.

Vague plot ideas? There’s a reason Khalila is wedged in here too - my idea is probably best summarised as “Someone shouldn’t have put the ring on, Gargi decides to chat rather than either ignore them or fry their brains”

There is a possible alternate/additional, which is Keria ending up in the ring, too. Idk.

Khalila/Anit

Who are these characters? Might people not know Anit?? She’s a fellow book-smuggler, fellow heir to a smuggling throne. Kills her father to save Jess, helps them hunt the Archivist in Sword and Pen. Wants to set up a bookshop with Jess at the end of the series. I love her a lot.

Vague plot ideas? Genuinely no idea. I have an old PWP series for these two. Maybe they will just play chess and flirt. Idk. We’ll see.

Khalila/Parker

Who are these characters? Parker ... well, to copy from the notes of the Kinktober fill I did for these two:

Scholar Medica Parker only appears for two pages in chapter thirty of Smoke and Iron.

Why did I pick her? Because Khalila describes her in a very unusually intense and poetic way (quoted below), and I henceforth decided that Khalila is experiencing an IMMEDIATE crush on the older woman. And now I ship them.

"She was a commanding older woman with sweeping walnut hair, eyes the colour of the open sea, and an attitude that Khalila could best liken to that of an angry, wounded lion. She took Wolfe's letter, ripped it open with a sharply pointed fingernail lacquered crimson, and read the contents once rapidly, then twice slowly, before she spoke."

Vague plot ideas? This is almost certainly going to be a journal entry, for Khalila to rhapsodise some more. Unless I get inspired to write them more porn and make it a long thing. Idk.

Annis/Keria

Who are these characters? Already covered.

Vague plot ideas? Sex. Probably. Or angst. Or angsty sex. Wait, these are supposed to be drabbles. Can I write smut snippets in 100 words??? Who knows?

Annis/Naomi

Who are these characters? Naomi Ebele is a librarian who appears in Oxford in Ink and Bone and then later in ... can’t be bothered to check, in London? at the end of Paper and Fire. Both times in a Serapeum under attack, poor thing.

Vague plot ideas? I mainly just think she needs something to go right for a change. Uncomplicated sex with Annis, who delights in such things?

Vargas/Greta

Who are these characters? Carole Vargas is the new Litterae Magnus as of Sword and Pen (described as large, dour, South American), and Greta Jones is the new Artifex Magnus.

Vague plot ideas? Idk, but I ship these two. Maybe just a date. Maybe they’ll grumble about work. I’ll think of something.

Khanna/Dudik

Who are these characters? Now we’re getting into the realm of reeeeaaaaally minor characters. These two appear only in one chapter of Ink and Bone, and appear to have been tasked with keeping Jess away from Morgan’s carriage once she’s been captured by the Obscurist Magnus. Rijuta Khanna is described as a small Indian woman, with black hair tied elaborately at the crown of her head, and her companion is Yeva Dudik, “taller, broader and with an east-Asian cast to her features ... watchful pale eyes in a sharp-featured face.”

Vague plot ideas? None yet, we’ll see. They seem fun, though. On-page banter!

Anit/Katja

Who are these characters? Anit, I’ve covered. Katja appears in two scenes in Sword and Pen as a Scandinavian ‘lieutenant’ of Anit’s - but you might remember her better if I say she’s the one that, out of nowhere, Jess decides he’d really like to fuck. And I do mean fuck.

Vague plot ideas? No idea, yet.

Morgan/Izumi

Who are these characters? Izumi is one of the Ptolemy House postulants. She makes it through most of the course or whatever you want to call it, and then can’t do Translation, so fails. Very unfair.

Vague plot ideas? Idek, I just think these two would be cute. It’s Morgan, so it’ll have to be an AU of some sort unless I set it in Ptolemy House.

Izumi/Sybilla

Who are these characters? Already covered.

Vague plot ideas? I really like the idea of these two getting Very Far Away from the Library and bumping into each other.

Historical Murasaki

Who are these characters? Another incredibly minor character. I’ll let Khalila explain. This is from Smoke and iron, chapter 19:

“Do you know the poet Murasaki Hiroko?”

“She wrote poems to her lover, but her lover was another married woman, and at the time the Curia deemed them unfit for publication. When she protested, they told her to destroy the work. She refused, and wrote more poems calling for the end of censorship by the Great Library. I read them. They were rotting in the Black Archives. If you don’t know of her, it is because she was simply ... erased.”

Vague plot ideas? Journal entry? Curia censorship letter? Something like that.

Indira/Kate

Who are these characters? Indira is the soldier/guard, something, put in charge of the pack when they are taken to Philadelphia. Kate Hannigan is a Burner who takes the pack to Philadelphia.

Vague plot ideas? I liked Indira as a character. Might have her fighting with Kate over a point of ideology or something.

Helva/Ariane Daskalakis

Who are these characters? Helva is a recruit in Glain and Jess’ training squad in Paper and Fire. On a training exercise (in which the Archivist makes an attempt on Wolfe’s life and anyone else around) Helva is bitten by a cobra and taken off by the Medicas.

Ariane is in the Serapeum prison alongside Wolfe in Smoke and Iron, and is in some way unwell.

Vague plot ideas? Idk. Brain is just like: Hey, look, soldiers who got injured!! Let’s smoosh them together!!

Naomi/Celia

Who are these characters? Naomi I’ve covered. Celia is Jess Brightwell’s mother. (Also called Charity in Ink and Bone.)

Vague plot ideas? None. I blame @rosalind-of-arden entirely for this ship.

Naomi/Neska (A&Q)

Who are these characters? Naomi, already covered. Neska is the silver-band Scholar, the Archivist’s assistant, who Brendan falls in love with. She is murdered by the Artifex? Archivist? Can’t remember, at the end of Smoke and Iron.

Vague plot ideas? I do have a specific concept for this: during the period covered by Ash and Quill, Neska is angry about Brendan fucking off without a word, and Naomi is having somewhat of a moral crisis caused by the idea that Scholar Wolfe might have turned to the Burners (since when she last saw him, he was indeed in the company of Burners.) They kind of work off frustrations on each other. Could be sex, could be letters, could be just an intense chat in the dinner hall or Library gardens. Idk.

So there we go!

4) Favorite exchange(s)?

i like the conversation when sheila stays behind with susannah while the latter gets changed into the uniform skirt or whichever costume piece lol and susannah is clearly like trying to Fit In as she would with the girls as a whole group re: just sheila but that's not really what sheila herself is about so it's not going anywhere at first. it was very funny when judith just smacks susannah's lunch tray straight down onto the floor rip. and of course i love kitty Addressing susannah leading into masochist

8) Favorite costume(s)?

hmm not great at noticing these details (especially the first time around and in non-hq footage lol) but i Did notice (and appreciate) how all the characters were costumed quite differently in a very Personal Style sort of way, v helpful to characterize them each and help distinguish them earlier on. i did like susannah's costumes a lot with the yellow / purple and patterns and vests and carefully styled hair and her post-timeskip look was fantastic as well

12) Favorite background moment(s)?

again i was pretty focused on the foreground stuff really lol and i don't really remember anything where i was noticing something happening only in the background. but a more Literal background moment, i too really enjoyed the silhouettes of the girls striking poses being projected onto the bg behind susannah at the beginning of the show, very effective and Dramatic

16) Underrated moment(s) in the show?

i don't think i have a real answer re: what's Underrated mostly b/c i've already seen so much good analysis & appreciation from people about pretty much everything........so a vaguely tangential answer is about wishing it was just a Little more evident that Kitty And Dorothy Have Their Own Thing Going On, which like, yeah maybe it's easier to tell in person watching the show, but......and i Do like that kitty's connection to susannah is so clearly more general than their Relationships (or potential ones / wanting one) b/c of course susannah's dilemma around goes beyond Just the particular forbidden romance with this particular person

i also found judith's character like, nonzero engaging, which is just like i hadn't heard much about her prior i don't think. not as though she's at all Likeable in the sense of like if you were in the show you would not like this character who is both a bully and a narc but it's still like, good for her eventually realizing the error of her ways even if it'd've been good to realize it Before miss asp made it clear she was only ever intending to use judith, and like, maybe if your snitching on a girl had indirectly led to her death you'd stop narcing on everyone instead of just setting up the same situation again. but at least she comes around and threatens francis and even her awfulness can be funnier than the awfulness of other characters who are being awful

20) Headcanon(s) for what happens before the show?

oof that's tricky since so much stuff in the show is unveiling ppl's Backstory / what's happened prior.....idk i was gonna say i wonder how kitty got makeup kits into nation but maybe they're allowed / it's allowed for her b/c her parents are paying so much. not very exciting

24) The Other One or Oh Well?

did have to confirm which one The Other One is but i guess that one lmfao i just have a great time with sheila going off on those verses and it's fun how it's this playful song about them bonding over being rejected.....the "and i guess i don't know how to feel about it" delivery is v funny. much respect and appreciation for Oh Well though of course

28) Something you like/have noticed about the show that you haven’t seen anyone else mention yet?

i'm not sure there Was much that i noticed that i hadn't heard about prior......tbh i think there were just a few Plot Points i hadn't already heard discussed but they weren't exactly Fun ones so i was like hm yeah i can see why ppl wouldn't necessarily specifically address this for kicks

32) If only one could happen, would you prefer a cast recording or an Off-Broadway run?

i agree w/ p much everyone, gotta love the increased availability of a cast recording.....will be around for more than a few weeks, will cost less to obtain the experience, and around here Who Knows what cast recordings will spark. love how plausible it is that lihn Will get a cast recording, here's hoping

hmm well classic iconis content around here with the shows celebrating misfit weirdos and him always trying to write a show about people who usually wouldn't get a show written about them and creating this material for an all-girl show with only one token The Guy and the Lead specifically being a black girl and there being a specifically trans role as well.....love how much people have been enjoying it even as it took me ages to get around to Consuming it myself, and it's been v cool for it to be so like, here's Totally New Material. even prior to me having actually seen it, it was also definitely nice to have This in the wake of august to interrupt the [lying facedown], and again it was fun to even secondhand have ppl having a great time w/ the show and getting to appreciate the Content and Analysis happening hell yea

oop i might've only seen the non-show video for "oh well" so guess it wins! fine by me

it's pretty classic / all-encompassing when he very strongly implies that susannah has no choice but to marry him / no Hope for her Future otherwise

4. what are you looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to school starting again, even if it's just a weird hybrid of online/flipped classes, I miss my teachers and like, being productive. also if I'm in class I can't be worked borderline inhumane hours right…. right??

5. is there anyone who can always make you smile?

yeah, my roommate. she always either knows how to cheer me up, or blunders around trying to find the right method to the point that it's funny and I end up smiling anyway. she's really awesome like that.

7. what was your life like last year?

it had a lot of ups and downs. I had a great job, but the people I worked with eventually made it toxic and awful. I was doing really well in school, but stressed all the time, had an awesome relationship but kind of ruined it w my anxiety, and had serious roommate issues that made me afraid to leave my bedroom or even come home, sometimes. I remember a lot of very high highs and very low lows especially in the fall/winter of that year.

10. are you good at hiding your feelings?

well, yes and no… I don't tend to show a lot of emotion to begin with, but what I do show, I'm basically incapable of hiding, and apparently I'm a terrible liar bc my face gives me away.

13. how do you feel right now?

I'm pretty alright… kind of anxious, kind of tired, but that's just been the status quo lately tbh.

15. personality description

already answered, so I suppose I'll elaborate. I'm simultaneously like, the most confident and the most self-doubting person I know... like there are certain things I'm super certain of and times when I feel no shame, and there are others where I'll just shrivel into a ball of anxiety and mortification and never come out. in the same vein, I'm simultaneously very trusting and open and very wary and cautious with people… it really depends on the situation and the person I think, I'm a very "you get out what you put in" person.

16. have you ever wanted to tell someone something but you didn't?

yeah, I’m still holding onto things I’ve wanted to tell certain people tbh… I used to be a lot more forthcoming and not worry about the consequences of what I had to say, but now that I’ve seen what power words have to ruin relationships and impact people I tend to hold back quite a bit.

17. opinion on insecurities

I have… many, but I understand that I shouldn't and am working on the ones I do have. I think feeling insecure can lead to some of the most ugly, toxic emotions and responses in certain people, so I'm trying to be conscientious of that.

um let’s see… jump scares, the dark (sometimes), corners I can’t see around, drowning/suffocating, pain, failure, losing control...

wet socks, sunburn, acne, willful ignorance, bigotry, excessively negative people… uh… idk hate's a strong word that's all I've got

1. lately I've been carrying a fanny pack with the trans flag (there's an unfortunate but very tempting pun in there) and it's still got the security tag bc they forgot to take it off in the store so now every time I walk through the doorway to like, a drug store, I set off the alarm. I would get it taken off but it was sent to me from Chicago lol.

2. I've got a lot of outdoorsy skills bc of my gym class in high school, like rock climbing, kayaking, building fire, etc. I'm not super adventurous in my daily life but while I was in that class, I did all kinds of things.

3. for awhile I worked at a cat cafe, and helped take care of the 12-15 rescue cats we'd have there at any given time. I stand by that it was the best job I've ever had, but the people I worked with, not so much.

33. something you want to learn

I really want to learn to skateboard or surf. it's been a dream for a long time and I have (suspiciously acquired) both, but my balance is shit and I have no patience for new skills lately, so...

'cause I generally don't like to do either, tho I do like watching the folks who play volleyball on the beach. and considering one of my favorite shows is about volleyball and it was the sport I sucked at the least in school, maybe we’ll go with volleyball? but in general I’m not a sports person.

I have a vague memory… of helping my mom in the garden of my old house when I was a little kid, mostly just digging in the dirt in the spring and being outside with my family… it's not very clear or specific but I think those days were some of the happiest of my life.

I'm good at learning the lyrics to songs, I've got over 1000 downloaded in my spotify library and I'm pretty sure I know the words to at least most of them. in a similar vein I'm good at learning the scripts to movies, and just… memorizing things in general especially audio.

1. songs with a light, strummy acoustic feel and creative lyrics… I've got a whole playlist for that vibe there's just something about songs like that that make me really calm

2. I really like being hugged or cuddled by my friends, just being in close proximity and hanging all over each other, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside tbh

I joined in 2012 bc my friends told me to, had a brief recession where I didn't use it at all, and a pretty lengthy sidetrack through the RP community, and then I came back bc of the friends I'd made here, and the unique-ness of the platform that I kinda can't find anywhere else. I'm stuck here just like the rest of y'all.

now this is a tough one… bc I really love them both a lot, and tbh in terms of quality of writing, art/animation, thematic music, character development and general story, I think Haikyuu!! has KNB beat, buuuuuut…. in spite of its flaws, I have such a soft spot for KNB and I keep coming back to it over and over again even as it falls into relative obscurity. It's the only thing I write for anymore and I'm still, somehow, utterly obsessed with the characters I first fell in love with over five years ago. KNB has problems, for sure, but the things it gets right (like setting a mood, strong emotional beats and character relationships) it knocks out of the park. I don't know if I could ever choose one over the other in terms of like, "you can only read/watch one of these and have to give up the other forever", but in terms of which has had the biggest impact, and still hits me the hardest, I'd probably have to go with KNB… but it's not by any means an easy choice.

((hey guys! so this blog’s dead as fuck. you’ve probably noticed. I never really intended for it to be as active and loved as my Trixie or AJ, hence why they have their own blogs, BUT BUT BUT.... all this talk of the final season’s got me itching to do stuff with other characters. ones i’m very bad and rusty with, but i’m here for fun.

I feel like what I should do is make a wishlist! below the cut are ships I’d like to write / ideas in general that I’d like to write for each character. HEADS UP, it’s mainly ships and nothing too substantial ghjgfhjsjds i’m bad with coming up with thread ideas w/o knowing what muse it’ll be with. but there’s a few vague ideas in there.

hoo boy after that trailer this is a lot to think about, mainly because I haven’t written her that much and I haven’t gotten much of a feel for my portrayal in particular.

bUT i’m way open to talking about it! I’ve noticed she’s the muse that’s probably gotten the most attention here. to my surprise. I kind of just added her bc I felt like I could probably pull her off. now I’m unsure. I feel pressure. there’s so many amazing Twis.

I really really really wanna write some TwiPie, funnily enough that’s probably my most wanted thing with her rn. That’s just one of my favorite ships, and I think it’d be cute and interesting to see how it goes.

other favorite ships are Twixie and TwiLuna, not itching as much to write those for some reason, but I figured it’s worth mentioning. but Twilight ships in general are pretty damn good.

other than that, same goes for Starlight, I’m open to discussing anything.

i think I’ll need to see how season 9 goes before I have more specific ideas on where to take her, so as of rn I’d mainly prefer to just write before that until it happens and I know all the context.

Rainbow Dash

she’s another one I added bc I felt like I’d be able to handle her, but I really love her as a character, so of course yes she’s here.

would jump at the chance for some FlutterDash probably, bc I like it a lot, but I could write it with her or my Shy. doesn’t really matter.

other than that, any ship, really, she’s very shippable. my dash is of course a flaming lesbian tho i will say that. most of my muses are bi / pan but idk. dash just. girls.

I do want to just write more of her in general. She hasn’t gotten a lot of love here. Give the Wonderbolt some love. Not too much tho it might go to her head.

Fluttershy

okay so I love Fluttershy ships, they’re so cute, how could you not

mainly though I think I’d most like to write Rarishy. besides FlutterDash. and like. again. I can do either end of that. Rarishy’s a big want for some reason.

platonic Fluttercord is my shit! I love them! I don’t really ship it anymore for reasons mainly regarding the fandom, but anything can happen I guess. It really just depends if she clicks with a particular Discord enough. it’s just not something I’ll probably want to do right away if ever. I’m cool with Discords who have a crush on her tho, just know as of rn mine doesn’t see him in a romantic light. Just a best friend.

stuff with the animal sanctuary! they haven’t really mentioned that again I don’t think, but I really liked that idea.

Fluttershy is one of the characters that made me make this blog, bc I really wanted to write her but not enough to give her her own blog. so if you throw literally anything at Fluttershy I’ll probably never be mad. I like writing her.

alright. so I love Rarity. but I added her later bc I always felt like I wouldn’t write her well. but the lack of Rarity here makes me depressed, so I decided I’d like to try my best!!!

would really enjoy to write Capperity, Rarijack, or again, Rarishy.

How do you run your blog?

Speed: It really depends. Usually I’ll get to a thread within a week or two at the longest. Given that have several partners that I talk to and plot with daily/weekly, we generate a lot of new ideas frequently and when something takes awhile, it usually got buried by under a crust of new threads and occasional meme prompt ask. My drafts box is like an archeological site, I swear. Sometimes I do have trouble with inspiration for a reply, but usually it’s just a matter of getting wrapped up with my little circle of friends and co-writers.

A side note, during my working week, my productivity slows to a crawl. I’m usually better off in Skype or tumblr IM and may get to a thread or two either before or after work if I’m just not in lurk/shit post mode until I pass out.

Replies: Aesthetically I use extremely light formatting. The first word always bolded and italicized and default size with all other text smaller. I also bold the quotation marks in dialogue because it looks hella cool on my blog proper given that I have bolded/italicized text is a different colour than the rest of the text. It also looks classy af on the dash. Icons for either FC depending on verse or comic caps are used until it gets to nsfw stuff or with some drabble prompts. As for preferences, I’m really quite flexible. Honestly, tho, I’m a multi-para whore and with most threads, eventually they start to get longer and longer. However, unless I can’t parse my muse’s thoughts on a matter or situation, I won’t go in hard and fast on a one-liner or small single para. Unless you’re one of my people, but then again, you prolly already have experience being slapped with my throbbing multi-para hard-on.

I don’t expect people to match me, and sometimes I may struggle to match length, as well, but I do like to see an attempt. Like if I give you a four para starter, I would prefer not to get a two sentence reply back (some of you are shaking your head, but this actually happened to me in my halcyon days in the community).

Starters: I don’t do greeters, because idk, for me it feels like when a teacher called on you because you weren’t paying attention. Nearly every time I’ve gotten a greeter, I’m unprepared and feel quite suddenly pressed. The RPC is already a ball of anxiety 85% of the time and I don’t want to add to anyone’s discomfort, providing I’m not the only crazy person who reacts to getting a greeter like a distant gunshot. Depending on how clogged my drafts box is and how busy I am, I probably post a starter call every couple weeks and open starters very rarely because like, idk, no one ever hops on them, so I don’t really feel like they’re welcome. In the case of the latter, I only ask that people read the tags. Some open starters are meant for mutuals, particularly ones with some established interaction.

Unless they’re plotted starters (or replies to longer ask box meme responses that I wanted to turn into a thread), they usually start short and often vague. Please don’t keep it vague. It drives me nuts. I want you to present an idea, go out on a limb, whatever (I mean within reason of course, use your common sense, too).

Inbox: It’s a mess, tbqh. A lot of times I mindlessly reblog or queue memes, especially at work or when I’m out and about on mobile, and then don’t feel like doing them or get excited over certain prompts over others. I will say that I keep things in my inbox for a very long time and might get to replying to prompt weeks to months later. Frequently I will draft ones that I know will be long.

Selectivity: Hoooo boy. I’m pretty fucking selective tbh. I like my partners to be literate and of course be able to enjoy their portrayal/character. That’s not to say I’m not open to meeting new people and interacting with new muses. I don’t need to know your muse extensively to RP with you, but I’m also perfectly willing to educate myself (I’m not going to front, I was compelled to watch both Daredevil and Preacher for the sake of character/canon research, as well as starting to read Lucifer). Also, I mostly RP with mutuals, but again, that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to discover new mutuals, you feel me?

Sometimes when my stress levels are high or I’m drowning in drafts, I tend to be a bit more standoffish and stick to “my people”, however this doesn’t last for long and may be broken by a compelling enough new interaction.

Wishlist item: *pounds table aggressively* CONSTANTINE FAM! AND I SUPPOSE THIS IS REALLY SELFISH BUT I WANT A CHERYL OR GEMMA RP BLOG IN MY LIFE. AND IDEK MAYBE HAVING A CHERYL BLOG WOULD BE BORING AS SHIT, BUT A GEMMA??? SURELY TO FUCK SOMETHING FASCINATING COULD BE DONE WITH HER. Also: CHAS! ELLIE! HELL BLAZER CANON CHARACTERS PLS.

ahem.

Anyway, idk, I really don’t have a wishlist? I mean, there are certain themes I’m keen to explore. Like my mythological bent to John, and developing certain verses, but like...all things considered I’m just more interested in world and relationship building than ticking off a wishlist of AUs or situations I want to see played out.

Honest note: I’m fiercely independent, and I don’t put up with bullshit. Honestly, I don’t have much tolerance for drama and the easiest way to push me away is pull me into a vortex of social or interpersonal drama. Been there, done that, and honestly I can be a bit skittish if I start getting a weird vibe. I’m coming up on five years RPing on tumblr and there’s not a lot that shocks me anymore.

A few more admissions:

-- I love writing ships. When I wrote fanfic, it was 95% shippy stuff. That doesn’t mean it’s all about romance, fluff, and sex, sometimes it’s just how two muses relate to each other or a glimpse into their lives together, but I know my strengths and tend to default to them. This doesn’t mean I’m out to collect lovers for John or am not willing to step out my comfort zone, just that there’s going to be a lot of that stuff here.

-- If we talk ooc, there’s a 100% more possibility that you’re going to get more attention from me both ic and ooc. It’s just a matter of comfort level. Though I might seem together and confident, it’s only really in regard to my writing. I’m intimidated by people who are so much better at being witty and fun and silly on tumblr and chatty about their characters and fandom outside of the constraint of meme prompts or whatever. I guess I’m just afraid of boring people or having followers roll their eyes like “omg Iggy stfu. Don’t you have twenty-odd replies? Chop, chop you anal retentive bitch.” Mind, no one’s actually said this to me, I just have dodgy self-esteem, honestly, and some days are worse than others.

-- If I tell you I think you’re a good writer, I mean it. This is important.

-- If I tell you I’m worried about the quality of a reply I gave you, I’m not fishing for compliments, I’m legitimately uncertain that you’ll like it. Just fyi.

-- I’m bad at writing m/f ships in any expedient manner. I have no good excuse for this other than being queer trash that would rather write about men being in love and lust. And uh, that’s not a good excuse at all. I’m just the literal worst and I’m sorry I come off as not inclusive enough. Honestly, I’m trying to be better about this deep failing of mine.

mdzs adaptations masterlist

look this is my first post on this account and I figured what better to make it about than my current obsession: modaozushi (or “the grandmaster of demonic cultivation” for all you english plebs out there I say as if I was not, in fact, one of those english plebs)

so I got into this fandom around mid-november-ish (as my ao3 bookmarks will clearly show you) and I have got to say: I am LOVING it

there’s just something about it that kinda latched onto me, and i doubt it’ll ever let go. and you know what? I’m okay with that.

so let’s b-b-break it down

from what I’ve gathered, mdzs is the favoured child of the threquel of Chinese novels written by mòxiãng tóngxiù (each standalone but they all seem to be set in the same/similar universe(s)). the other novels include the scum villains self saving system and heavenly officials blessing (both of which I ALSO have feelings about but this ain’t about them). from my understanding, mdzs is the most popular amongst the other two, and it’s pretty obvious. this bitch has SO MANY different adaptations attached to its name it’s unreal. and here is where our story begins…

let’s start of with the classic: the original novel.

so the novel. I’ve heard some pretty mixed reviews about the novel tbh, and I have admittedly not finished all of it (look okay it’s p long and I could be using that time for fanfic) but I’d say generally ppl like it. the plot seems reasonably solid, the characters are *chef’s kiss* (especially my son Lan wangji) and it’s overall a nice mix of Soul Crushing Angst and a slightly below comfort ratio. oh and it’s gay.

not bad.

the main complaints I’ve heard about it are, uh, some questionable consent scenes between the main characters (nothing too bad, but enough to rightfully piss ppl off, and pls watch out for it if it might trigger you).

other than that, I honestly dont hear the novel talked about too too often, but idk. I mean I liked the parts I’ve read.

the only thing I know about it if that it’s… a thing, and the art looks very nice (v similar to the donghua; we’ll get there)

Imma give it a 7.75 stars out of ten.

up next: the donghua

(donghua: basically a Chinese version of anime)

the donghua is actually the only adaptation I’m like semi-comfortable talking about (because I’ve actually watched the majority of it) and let me just say:

stunning

I believe it’s following the book canon fairly closely (don’t quote me on that) and it’s currently ongoing with two completed seasons and the third in the works. it’s all easily found on YouTube with English subs if you’re interested! (couldn’t find any dub)

I,,,,, actually love the donghua with all my heart ngl. the animation is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, I adore the voice actors, the character designs are so visually pleasing and it’s just 👌👌. ofc since this is a Chinese tv show there is some censorship (so I guess the main couple (being very gay) probably won’t explicity get together) but honestly? I ain’t even that mad. there’s plenty of undertone anyhow.

I just *clenches fist* love it so much. high HIGH recommend.

I’m giving it 9.5 stars out of 10

to conclude: the untamed/cgl verse

so if you’ve been lurking around the mdzs tag on tumblr, this is probably the one you’ve heard about the most. live action, with 50 episodes, all like in the 40 to 50 mins range, what’s not to like?

well. it diverges a lot from canon (new plot points, changing some stuff around, new OCs, the whole shebang) and it definitely is more heavily censored than the book is. some ppl like the divergences, some don’t. I like a couple of them (I liked how they gave more screentime to more minor characters, and I def liked my girl Lan Yi) and there were some I didn’t (let! Wei! wuxian! stay! on! the! dark! side! also what the fuck jgy). overall it’s more up to preference.

I did note a lot of ppl actually liked how it was more censored. since the censorship takes away most of the sexual side to their relationship, it also for rid of all the questionable consent scenes as well, and it let the viewer focus more on the romantic side of the main couple. although again never explicitly stated they get together, you can clearly see how deep their relationship goes and how much they mean together, romantic partners or not. I… really liked that.

ofc, the one thing that sorta bothered me was the things like the CGI and the wigs. this is more not picky, but I definitely felt the fighting in the donghua was much more badass and cool, whereas the cgl verse kept bugging me with all the… twirling and questionably cgi’d flips. idk, I guess maybe the producer didn’t have the biggest budget? it just kinda bothered me, but it took nothing away from the overall story

Imma give it 8.5 stars out of 10

vague notes :

there is also a translated manhua (Chinese equivalent to manga) adaptation and an audio drama adaptation! I have zero (0) knowledge about either of them, but they are a thing so… check them out? lol

fanfiction:

mdzs has pretty good fanfic on ao3. not the biggest fandom I’ve seen, but it does seem to be growing quite fast (at a rate I have only seen in fandoms like *pained cough* voltron or the umbrella academy) and it’s generally very good! I am thoroughly enjoying it. there’s a lot of gen as well as romance, and ofc my fav genre: gen romance (jk my fav genre is gen) but there really is something for everyone, a statement I do not say often. fanfiction.net does not have nearly enough (and is a pain to find) so I recommend endeavoring on ao3 if you’re interested
