What's ur fav piece of trivia for every* character?
(*or at least as much as you can recall off the top of ur head)
my favorite trivia for characters is usually just whatever i think is funniest so just keep that in mind. that's not always the case but you might see it become a pattern. oh the other thing is whatever is most soul-crushing so yeah.
Ichika - either the fact her name comes from how her parents met (because i think it's really sweet) or that she accidentally discovered miku when she was watching videos on her dad's tablet and opened a recording of a miku concert
Saki - she used to listen to the song Time Machine when she was in hospital (at Ichika's recommendation) to remind her of family and friends. It's the in-universe reason why she is featured on the cover. This is actually one of my favorite facts in the game overall.
Honami - she is surprisingly good at flirting
Shiho - not one I've posted before, but in Run! Sports Festival! she couldn't bring herself to throw any of the balls in the ball toss because they had cute animal designs on them
Minori - she once passed out because Haruka wished her happy birthday.
Haruka - she likes penguins because she thinks the way they waddle is cute and she likes how round a lot of penguin merch is
Airi - she followed all of Shizuku's campaigns and bought all the magazines she was featured in when she was still a member of Cheerful*Days. She insists it was just research.
Shizuku - either that she usually has a thermos of miso soup on her to eat after practice or archery club or that she isn't good at texting. i haven't posted either of these before
Kohane - again one I haven't posted yet, but her favorite photo she's taken of Count Pearl is one of Pearl eating mice. the rest of VBS are surprised that she isn't squeamish about that sort of thing (i dunno what they're talking about that sounds like a very cool photo).
An - the possible symbolism of the black stripe on her new school cardigan. hello to the person who submitted that i am still not over it.
Akito - in Cinema he's the only person to sing solo during the first two choruses, the others don't get solo parts in the chorus until the end of the song. i think about this one a lot actually
Toya - he can't swim
Tsukasa - he's the comedic relief and there's a lot of really random shit i know about him because of that, so my favorite fact about him is whatever will have the most impact in the moment if i were to mention it out of nowhere. for a less vague answer, this one although i consider it to be one of my worst posts
Emu - she's very good at replicating cartoon faces. i like this one because it raises a few questions about whether the L2Ds are still exaggerated or if she just looks like that and no one questions that she actually has a cartoon face. what if project sekai ends with them all becoming self-aware.
Nene - either the fact that she thinks the forest has good graphics or that she called rui's mom "auntie" when she was younger because i think it's cute.
Rui - i like a good reference and i appreciate that he sometimes references famous people and media.
Kanade - she's left handed. i also like that her family name was made up specifically to contrast with the rest of N25.
Mafuyu - either that it's shown one time that she can see ghosts and then it's never brought up or referenced again, or that the "mom's cooking" listed as her favorite food might refer to the bunny-shaped apple slices her mother would make for her when she was a kid. i also like the detail that her eyes being two-tone is because she inherited the eye colors of both her parents.
Ena - twitter user. also despite loving cheesecake, she doesn't like cheese. girl what the hell.
Mizuki - they started out editing by making AMVs for a magical girl anime they liked. Amia comes from the name of a character from that anime. also did you know they put ice cubes in noodles because of their sensitive tongue. ice cubes.
Bonus - some side character stuff I like
Kotaro's favorite food is strawberries but he doesn't like strawberry flavored things for whatever reason
Asahi and Sakurako's family names are Chinese mythology references
Tatsuya's hobbies are motorbiking and fishing. these are not things you expect to go together
Nagi hated tomatoes but she would eat them in front of An
Iori hates spicy food, whilst Mio's favorite food is super spicy ramen. Meanwhile Mio doesn't like cream, but Iori likes crepes (which usually have cream on them).
Souma started listening to foreign music after Arata left for America
gbr i forgot about the vocaloids for a second but before i call it a day i think it's incredibly funny that Len cannot reach the stools in crase cafe.

I've ran out of current vods from my favourite streamer, do you have any recommendations for fun rtvs vods to watch? I've really been meaning to check some out
oh yes absolutely!!
i don't watch every rtvs member stream, so if anybody wants to chime in with vods from other folks, please feel free! i pretty much just watch wayne, holly, and scorpy's streams, so:
from wayneradiotv:
looking through wayne's catalogue i'm running into the problem that most of my favorites (like the among us, jackbox, & 420 streams) are best enjoyed when you're already pretty familiar with the crew, so maybe save those for later if you end up enjoying rtvs' stuff. all of the proximity chat among us videos are fantastic (and i like watching the same one from multiple peoples perspectives, holly's in particular are great). RTVS congress, a stream by baaulp, is also great and worth watching once familiar with the crew
i think my best wayne (well, on wayne's channel, all of these feature multiple members of the crew) recommendation though is gonna be I.M. MEEN, which is a completely normal playthrough of a regular copy of 90's kids' edutainment game i.m. meen, which has nothing wrong with it. for some of the other "rtvs brand of weirdness" sort of streams, check out waynekenstein's lab (fun with ai generated faces) and chex quest hd (just.. watch this one)
wayne does a lot of "grand tour" streams (technically the im meen one is one of these but), where he goes through older/weirder/obscurer games. fin fin on teo the magic planet is a FANTASTIC one (fin fin needs no introduction, but in case he does, odd 90's virtual pet with a great theme song), plus the echs bachs catalogue (a bizarre collection of pretty awful games made by one dude called Echs Bachs), and club penguin rewritten (it's club penguin, bro).
if you like seeing a game played over many hours and multiple streams, i'd check out chulip, lisa: the painful, minecraft 24 hour charity stream, and moon rpg: remix. lisa and moon remain unfortunately unfinished, but the streams are still absolutely worth checking out.
from hollowtones:
most of my favorite holly vods are biiiig long streams of a playthrough of a whole game. her stuff tends to be pretty chill and i find them nice and relaxing. sometimes there's friends joining her, sometimes it's just her. of these, i really like bugsnax (adore these ones. idk how to succinctly explain bugsnaz. is bugs, is snax, are you a jokester?), hypnospace outlaw (PLEASE watch these ones especially if you havent played/watched hypnospace before), and moonglow bay (really sweet fishing game).
holly also does a number of wikipedia streams, where she (and friends) read and discuss wikipedia articles about food for upwards of 6 hours a piece. it's really good. it's really good. i like the soup one.
another favorite holly stream is GO-FISH DELUXE FOR SUPER PLAYERS, where holly and a friend play a custom game of go fish for 7 and a half hours. i love this one.
and i would be remiss to leave out, of course, the pigmas in july peppa pig stream. which is where holly, joined by her sister if i remember correctly it's been a minute since i watched, plays the peppa pig video game for nintendo switch. this one is very worth watching to the very end.
from socpens:
my #1 recommendation from scorpy's catalogue is going to be every single one of the VHS VIEWINGZ streams. scorpy obtains and plays a bunch of vhs tapes on stream with friends, it's always always always a good time. my favorite of all of them is probably this one, which among other things, includes a tape about learning to be a clown. make sure to watch to the end for a t-bone tickler! this one, featuring Escalator Safety and VOLTON THE ELECTRITY DEMON is also great. i'm having a hard time choosing just a few, they're all really good, so i'm just gonna link the eye palming one and be done with it.
for gameplay with scorpy, i really like a way out with wayne (unintentionally hilarious 2 player narrative game about escaping from jail), any of the david cage game vods but here's detroit become human, and not for broadcast (a FMV game about running a tv station- censoring stuff, monitoring broadcasts, that sort of thing. has a very interesting narrative)
and a couple other things
ok so these aren't like, the typical stream vods, while they are technically livestreamed stuff they're not quite in the same category. but they're all really fucking good.
of course, half life VR but the ai is self aware. there's full stream vods available for these, but if you haven't watched before i highly recommend watching the edited versions on wayne's main channel linked above. in case you haven't heard of hlvrai before, basic concept is that it's an in-character playthrough (wayne roleplaying as gordon freeman) of half life 1 in VR with a cast of self-aware ai NPCs (played by other members of the rtvs crew) accompanying him through the game. no prior knowledge of half life necessary. just fantastic.
next up, GAMECLAM. a yearly e3-style gaming conference about the best video games console that doesn't exist. here's the first one, there's currently 3 in total. there's also a commentary video on scorpy's vod channel. PLEASE experience the gameclam. PLEASE experience the gameclam
lastly, half life: alyx but the gnome is TOO AWARE. wayne does a gnome run challenge of HL:A with a mod that gives the gnome a biiiit more personality. (due to some references, best watched after hlvrai, but they're not part of the same series/continuity). not all the way finished at the moment- the finale's been streamed (and you can find a 3rd party upload of the finale stream on youtube (thank you youtube user sawsily for everything you do)) but the edited version of the finale should be coming out pretty soon.

what was the first video game that you really loved (and would still play rn if you had the opportunity)? did you ever play flash games? do you have a Least favorite game genre? opinions on minecraft and undertale? i am a gamer i could ask you an endless amount of questions but i will stop here. for now.
i think the video game that turned me into a full-fledged gamer was probably skyrim. my brother introduced me to it and once the introduction dragon fight thing was over, he was like “ok now go do whatever tf you want” and i was like???? ANYTHING?????? and yea. been in love with video games ever since lmao. i don’t play skyrim much anymore, tho i do still have access to it so if i ever get the time i might start it again :)
i grew UP on flash games are you kidding? club penguin and poptropica was MY SHIT
least favorite genre might be 2d platforming games b/c i’m just. so ass at it 😭😭 also not into rpg games but wizard 101 was a huge exception. that game fucking ruled.
tbh don’t have an opinion on minecraft. it’s cool i guess lol. i won’t say it’s overhyped or anything, but it just personally was never all that to me. and i played undertale once a reallllly long time ago and i enjoyed it as far as i can remember. but i never really went into the fanbase or anything b/c they all scared me 😭 lowkey i forgot everything that happens in it but the music is fucking iconic

hope you don't mind me asking, what's up with ncp?
bad writing quality, wasted my buddy @/selfawarecobalt's time by having him draw something for a party that (as of now) never got used and also didn't credit him for drawing the hydro hopper stampbook page, inaccurate mascots (but hey this was one of scrabble's direct influences so when you think about it it's actually Good /j), the flash client is extremely laggy and can be borderline unusable with how many ads it has, probably some other gripes im forgetting atm
buuut since i'm already complaining about ncp i might as well talk about cpl too in case anyone wants to know my deal with that, it's owner did not (at least by the time of this post i do not Know if it has happened since then) repay memorydatas/garianna, a former member of staff the 8 dollars and pizza he owed her, posturing themselves in a way that makes them look more official, ben worked on this game too and did Not get credited on the official site anywhere at any point while he worked on the game. also they have a habit of acting like they created features from the original game so...lol?
Tumblr media
like this is from their latest post about their wayback (basically renamed anniversary party) and...bro. you didn't craft NOTHIN', every single wayback party room is not only official art but with waaaay worse quality for zero reason. like i cannot stress enough that the swfs are ON club penguin wiki for most parties, a lot of them didn't look so grainy and at the very least nothing from 2008-2009 looked this bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there's also the problem of pointless changes nobody asked for that don't suit the game and make things more difficult, and nothing is a better example than their new psa test. and like, hey. i fucking love the psa/epf, i always have loved the psa and epf even when i was playing the original game as a kid, almost every oc i post about (torrent, richter, rolly, gin, scrabble, blanche, sonata, etc) is either associated with the agencies as well, an agent or is their adversary because it's my favorite part of the game. i'm not against changing the quiz to keep it fresh. and if we got a entry exam like the epf's (before they replaced it with the new as3 HQ :( i really wish they made an actual new test for the epf after blackout, but whatever) that would've been really cool! or if they had more fun questions like say, "what would you do if a villain was in front of you RIGHT NOW!!!"
but like. let's look at the original quiz, taken from club penguin mountain's tutorial for it. as a refresher, your account needs to be 30 days old in order to become an agent on the original game and typically the average cpps that has the psa around sticks to that age restriction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pretty straightforward because y'know, middle schoolers were the intended audience. maybe a little boring for new and old fans, but still understandable and pretty obvious what the answers are, regardless of if you remember them from playing as a kid or not. the only change is how you activate the quiz, because in the original game the ui was different (image below is from a walkthrough video from 2008)
Tumblr media
meanwhile, with cpl... (as taken from cplcheats)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the original psa quiz was, like i said: straightforward. answer the questions correctly and boom: you're an agent! and if you get it wrong, that's okay- you can try again as many times as you want until you get it right.
the club penguin legacy psa quiz is going to alienate new and old players. it's not straight forward: you are presented with the code screen with no context as to why and no text prompt when it happens. you aren't going to puzzle this out without explicitly being told what to do: even if you found the boiler note by yourself, nobody is going to know to click the coffee stand note because it was never clickable in the original game. but activating the quiz at all all depends on you thinking to walk over to the changing booth...which players wouldnt typically do if theyre trying to become an agent. it's just a baffling choice. the code idea isn't bad, but it needs more context (ex: revamped quiz you do that gives you hints on where to find the paper slips before you enter the code).

What was ur favorite thing to Look At On The Computer as a kid?
I was on the computer all the time as a kid omg. I visited a lot of kid sites, club penguin, Poptropica, Webkinz, toon town... Publix used to have a kids website with games on it, and there was some site with the jolly green giant, girls go games. I looked at lots of shock sites, unfortunately.
Weirdly enough, my favorite website was actually StumbleUpon when it was good, because I loved to just go to random websites. I also played a lot of minesweeper, but I never understood how to play and I still don't quite understand...
Also. Sims and Sims 2 was one of my absolute favorite computer activities!!

Okay one of my mutuals (hi @sle3pykaynn :D) responded to my post about wanting to talk about my all time favorite characters saying i should, so i decided to!!
I won't explain all of them because it would be a lot lol. But, my overall list of longterm favorite characters is Triffany from Bugsnax, Snorpy from Bugsnax, Grovyle from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers Of Sky, Alfred from Doll Eye, Bobby Fulbright from Ace Attorney, Simon Blackquill from Ace Attorney, Shadow from Sonic, Dib Membrane from Invader Zim, Blackstar from Warriors, Gary from Club Penguin, Rookie from Club Penguin, and Ford Pines from Gravity Falls! I have lots of other favorite characters, but this list is the one that stick with me more than any others, and most of them have been my favorites for many years!
There's different reasons why they stick with me which is what i wanted to infodump about, so I'll split it up by fandom to keep it less jumbled since a few repeat
Bugsnax: Triffany is my favorite from the whole game, which kinda surprised me at first because I'm usually more a fan of the aloof-like characters, but i quickly realized why. I'm super into abandoned places and the dark story behind them, like so into it that it's weird to others, and when i saw how Triffany is so into the ruins of Snaktooth and the dark history on the island, i just... Clicked with her. I relate to her a lot and I love her so much. As for Snorpy, i tend to really love sciencey characters, and he's an inventor. I relate to his anxiousness a lot, and i just love his relationship with Chandlo. He was an instant "that's it, that's my boy" kinda character for me XD
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: I first played PMD: EOS when i was 10 years old, i got to rent it for free from family video because of A's on my report card, it was a thing the store did every year. Good times, i miss family video. Anyways, the game really makes you get attached to Grovyle, i could explain how but that'd take forever, and he becomes like a best friend in a way. Until he sacrifices himself and you and your partner never see him again. I cried SO FUCKING HARD as a little kid, and it still makes me cry when i replay the game XD. But i finally got around to the special episode with him when i was 16, and it made me love his character even more. Nintendo wrote his character out beautifully and it'll forever be my favorite game ever
Doll Eye: Doll Eye is a game by my favorite artist Twisted_Doctor, and I've been a huge fan of his since 2016. Back then, his universe went by a different name, Re-Nightmare. I love all his characters now and back then, but I've always really loved Alfred. 2017 was my worst, darkest times and some of Alfred's issues were similar to mine so i grew attached to him, and his design both now and before is awesome.
Ace attorney: I've explained this one on my page before so I'll keep it short and avoid any spoilers for Dual Destinies! I adore the silly relationship these two have and i like to ignore the very end of the game. Their banter is funny, and I have lots of headcanons for them. They're the main thing that makes me return to ace attorney tbh
Sonic: i was a huge Sonic kid. Like, my sister, cousin and I would pretend to be sonic underground characters in my grandma's backyard when we were little, i was always Manic, my cousin was Sonic and my sister was Sonia lmao. All these years, Shadow has remained my favorite due to how he acts and his story. Can you tell I was an emo kid? XD
Invader Zim: Dib is probably my #1 favorite character of all time. I literally grew up on invader zim and still love it to this day (i have IZ pins on my bag i take everywhere, Gir fingerless gloves, Gir socks and a dib figure on my desk lol). It shaped a lot of my interests and personality growing up, like a lot. Dib has always been my favorite, i love his personality and role in the show, as well as his rivalry with Zim. The movie expanded upon how he feels toward his dad and showed him feeling sympathy for Zim too, which was awesome. I also had a crush on him when i was like... 9 😳
Warriors: I think it's pretty damn obvious i was a warrior cats kid just by looking at my page. Warriors introduced me to so much of what I'm into now, and i was obsessed with the series big time for years. Blackstar was always my favorite because i liked his personality and how he redeemed himself after what he did during Tigerstar's leadership. Fun fact, the first fic i ever posted online was a cringey poorly written blackstar x reader fanfic i wrote when i was 10, and it is still out there online today which is... Yuck XD
Club penguin: I've already explained why i love club penguin so much here, but it was a massive part of my childhood. Rookie was my favorite as a kid because i loved his goofy character and really wanted to be his friend if he were real. Over the years I've come to really love Gary as well because science characters again, but also because of how nice he is to your character during the EPF mission things and his lore during operation blackout. I want to slap his bald head <3 /ref
And lastly, Gravity Falls: i was a huge GF fan when it was still releasing new episodes, and i fell DEEP into the rabbit hole of theories based on the new ciphers and whatnot. I was one of the people who hardcore believed in Stanley having a twin, but overtime began to deny it since it took so long, so when Ford was revealed i absolutely lost my shit, it was a huge deal for child me. Not only that but he's a badass old man, i love him
Just felt like rambling about my favorite characters of all time lol! I tried to keep it short but it's still pretty long. I'm not crazy fixated on any of them rn, when I'm hyperfixated i can go on and on for an unholy amount of time, but i think these are some good small summaries about them :)

Hey this is embarrassing to ask off-anon but I’m so curious — are you actually a bug mom? 👀 if so, what kinda bugs do you have? I’ve recently (partially) gotten over my fear of the lil guys and now I think they’re so interesting!!
HI OMG I love your stories
Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to have any pet bugs (a real shame, I always did like spiders)
But the nickname kinda has a couple origins
1. My mom’s nickname for me growing up was Miabug, I still use it when I play video games and it needs a name entered.
2. I went through a bug phase around 5-6 years old, I loved all things creepy crawly, and used to pick them off the ground to show kids at recess (which in hindsight is probably why I did t have a lot of people to hang out with LMAO)
3. Some of my earliest OCs are bug like aliens, kinda based off of the Invader Zim universe. Someone pointed out they looked like cool insects and I ran with it.
4. Third grade me wanted to be a firefly for Halloween, and to date that’s still one of my mom’s favorite costumes I’ve done. My gram made a translucent pillow thing attatched to a belt and we put an LED light in it. I wore aviator goggles, sparkly purple wings and a headband with pipe cleaner antennae.
On the way to the Halloween party, I heard Owl City’s “Fireflies” on the radio for the very first time. In costume, and my mom was just as excited. Whenever it came on the radio after that we’d turn it up. 2009 was a simpler time.
5. My club penguin username was some variation of my name with firefly in it
6. I feel like a lot of my writing process is just firing off ideas, and brainstorming until I find something to latch onto. Like a lightbulb moment of a firefly, or a bee constantly farting around from one point to the next (I can’t stick with one project at a time even if my life depended on it)
7. My grandmother used to be called “Bee”, and she was always as busy as one. She always seemed to have her shit together, and still have the energy to keep a positive attitude. Even now, my family still associates bees, and the color yellow with her.
WOW this got long I’m sorry. If you made it this far, I hope my convoluted ramblings make at least a little sense. Thank you for sending in an ask! 🐝

Sorry, my shock of finding another nicki led me to forget to ask my normal questions: what is your favorite history / historical period / individual / event?💜
idk if it counts as a historical period, but the weird era of like 1995 to 2010ish online where forums and personal websites were far more common than social media.
the tight knit communities that form around small niche topics was far better than the constant feed of ads and content begging for your attention that you have on tiktok and twitter and instagram.
you still have some communities like that. sites like speedrun.com, certain fan wikis (ones that aren't associated with wikia/Fandom), and neocities. and to a lesser extent, tumblr.
I have very fond memories as a kid playing club penguin and making friends with people on forums and message boards talking about the game and finding cool secrets.
idk if that really counts as "history". but it's in the past, so I consider it history. lol

Ok im sorry but I hate the idea of “scenecore”. Its an aesthetic that waters down and destroys the whole purpose of scene. Its also weirdly sexualized. But thats just my 2 cents

Soemthing very interesting I noticed about the BFDI and II fandoms is something I like to call “The Shipping Square”, and I don’t mean a love triangle, as there isn’t really any romance in either of these two shows, but more so 4 specific characters that fandoms are drawn towards when it comes to shipping. It’s something that I can only explain visually, so I will.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While not exactly the same (I’ve seen way more people make Test Tube and Paintbrush content than Leafy and Coiny content) the idea’s still there. It’s still way more prevalent in the ii fandom since those 4 are actually on a team together, it still applies to BFDI too.
Of course, many somewhat ships with these characters exist out of these shipping squares (in ii there’s Silver Spoon x Paintbrush and Cabby x Test Tube, for instance, and in BFDI there’s Flower x Leafy), the ones in these squares are most popular, not just for the character but in the fandoms themselves, which is very interesting to me.
I don’t really have a point to make with this it’s just food for thought

My #1 post of 2022
ALRIGHT HERE WE GO. DNI if you: never had a Sonic phase, prefer normal taxidermy over rogue taxidermy, people who hate dashed URLs, people with numbers in their URLs, you hate dogs OR cats, you think vampires are hotter than werewolves, you never played an online pet site game (Neopets, Marapets, Meowr, etc), you never played an online kids MMO (Animal Jam, Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters, Webkinz, etc), you actively use Twitter, you think Sticker Star is better than any of the first 3 Paper Mario games, you skip seasons of TV shows to get to the “good part”, your favorite season is winter, you dont listen to any music artists with less than 200 subs on YouTube, you never ruined any of your toys trying to do a “custom”, you dont download random gifs from the Internet, you never pirated something before, or if you never did Khan Academy before

virtual game memories
under the cut because it's a little long :)
when i was a kid my favorite virtual games were club penguin and fantage. club penguin was extremely popular after all! and fantage had an adorable art style and so many opportunities for roleplaying! (i used to lie to people and say i was recording a youtube video, but really i just wanted to roleplay high school with them lol)
i would constantly beg my parents to buy me premium membership on those games, but they always said no. they never budged on this, but at one point club penguin was selling real-life plushes of penguins with codes that you could redeem in-game for exclusive clothes. i convinced my mom to buy me this specific plush:
Tumblr media
with the code i was able to get that hair and dress. these were basically the only premium clothes i had, so my two main roles in club penguin were either 1. pizza chef (because the chef hat and apron were free) or 2. a pookie (basically a baby penguin that sat in the pet shop and begged to be adopted).
as for fantage, it never sold any real-life toys or anything else like that... but i was able to convince an online friend to share her premium account with me. i remember the username was sonia1132, and if i look it up now i can actually see videos with that account on youtube! (none of those videos were actually of me, though.)
Tumblr media
this account was shared between a lot of people, actually, so i would log in on some days to see the entire outfit and face of the avatar had been changed. sometimes i would be kicked out of the game because someone else logged on. it was annoying, but i got used to it, and it was worth it because my other account had basically nothing cool on it.
i had a lot of fun playing on this account! one day it got banned, though, because some clown decided to swear. saddest day of my life. i remember just staring at the screen with empty sadness. but i resigned myself to playing on my non-premium account. woe was me... :(
sometimes i wish fantage had lasted long enough for me to finally be able to make my own premium account, but in retrospect, maybe it's for the best that never came to me. i watched wars between the premiums and non-premiums. i learned humility, and how to appreciate what little i had. jk i'm still salty

No, but the Club Penguin Ds games are so fun?!?
Like, it's not hard cause it's a kids game but it has a funny little story and minigames. Nostalgia is also a good complement.
The only thing that makes me a bit sad is missing a portuguese translation. The names in Portuguese were so funny I miss them now that Club Penguin is gone. And because I'm an adult I finish the game too quickly every time. I wish it lasted a bit longer. LOL
God yeah, so little ds games had portuguese translations I used to play all of mine in Spanish and didn't understand half of it maybe that's why I was bad at them lmao
And they are genuinely good, like more fun than a lot of "serious" games I have played (would prefer to play club penguin instead of like far cry 4 any fucking day)
I have such a special place in my heart to those games that are simpler or considered kids games, like some of my favorites were the my sims wii games, still have a blast playing them

Will you tell us about toontown and what you like about it, for those of us who don't really know what it is? Or just the characters you like if that would be more fun for you?
YES ok toontown online was an mmo where you play as a cartoon animal (a toon) fighting against the cogs, evil robots that represent corporate interests that are attempting to take over toontown. it got shut down around 10 years ago by disney (along with a few other games, like pixie hollow, which i played since beta) because it wasn't profitable enough, in favor of focusing on club penguin, which would also end up being shut down. (continued under the cut)
enter toontown rewritten, whose team IMMEDIATELY began work on a revival, because it was (and is!) still an extremely beloved game and many people were heartbroken by disney's decision. toontown rewritten came with a whole new storyline and ARG (though that was only in the beginning; right now there's not much to speak of in that department. i would love if they brought it back though!). since its full release, there have been consistent updates, both QOL updates like tweaking the fishing minigame and big feature updates, like sellbot field offices!
there's another toontown revival called corporate clash which i know almost nothing about. what i gather from tumblr though is that people really like the cogs in that one.
anyway, my main focus is less on the characters already present in toontown (though one does make a brief guest appearance in my timeline of events) and more on my ocs for the setting! these consist of characters that i've made and play as (king batty, doctor dizzy, fat maxie fluffenpaws) and characters that i cannot accurately create within game (pumpkin and edna). my biggest focus has been on edna, with pumpkin being a supporting character in her story, but i'm also VERY into doctor dizzy as a character, who i use to explore my headcanons about toon biology. king batty is a simpler sort, who mostly likes fighting cogs and helping others. fat maxie fluffenpaws has the least amount of characterization so far and is essentially relegated to the character i play as when my sibling won't play with me and i'm really itchin to play, lol.
overall it's one of my favorite games! i played it a little as a kid but we couldn't afford the membership fees so i never made it past the first area. with toontown rewritten, it's completely free (they don't even accept donations for server costs) so i've made it much farther than i ever did as a kid (though due to my fluctuating interest i never maxed out a toon or anything like that, or even fought any bosses. unless the factory foreman counts (it doesn't))
i can go into more detail about anything if you want!

Do you have any OCs? feel free to talk about them if you do
What was the first piece of media you engaged with on the internet? Are you still interested in it?
What's something you made or did that you're proud of?
What's something that made you smile this month?
1. oh yeah i definitely do!
my favorite brand of OC is making kid me happy. i like to take my old OCs from childhood and keep revamping them! so I've had some of these for a while!
my 2 more prominent ones are Hydro and Xenon. my 2 element based OCs. lots of thought and such went into their stories and their personalities, too much to put here. but i love them v much
2. this next one's tough. like, do newgrounds flash games count? club penguin? umm if not, probably homestuck. i have no idea what's going on in hs now lol i never even finished reading it.. but i still live to rb some art every now and then.
homestuck is the entire reason i have a tumblr which was my first social media outside of like skype or something.
3. uhh idk. don't do much
4. sonic adventure 2.
thanks for the asks!

haikyuu!! + things they were doing on the internet when they were like... 12
a/n: is this also a call-out post for myself and a way to make fun of things i did? yes
Hinata: playing those free to play weird-ass games on y8.com when he’s not fighting over the computer with his sister
Kageyama: watching ‘top ten best sets in volleyball games with slow-motion’ again and again until his sister taught him how to use youtube
Tsukishima: writing long essays that he posts on facebook about how much twilight sucks and how much he hates it. definitely had a twilight phase
Yamaguchi: secretly writing twilight fanfiction and posting them on wattpad. he got pretty famous for them but he’ll never talk about it
Ennoshita: played Feeding Frenzy a lot. like, a Lot. this man was a literal god
Tanaka: MAKING PUNK/EMO EDITS OF HIS FAVORITE CELEBRITIES. his masterpiece was punk harry styles feat. 6 earrings and a neck tattoo
Nishinoya: watching american ninja warrior compilations but the ones with ‘eye of the tiger’ edited over them to make them extra awesome
Daichi: coming up with his own inspirational quotes that are kind of terrible like ‘even though i’ve been beaten down, i’ll always get back up’ and posting them on facebook thinking that he’ll inspire people somehow
Sugawara: watching ‘Hetalia Ep. 25 VIETSUB|SPN|ENG subtitles pt. 2/28′ on youtube. either that or ouran high school host club idk this guy had a phase
Asahi: taking a whole bunch of those ‘what your fashion says about you’ quizzes until he eventually made one himself as well as a polyvore account
Oikawa: reading and writing doctor who fanfiction before eventually getting into sherlock and supernatural. yes, he shipped destiel. yes, the destiel canon thing on november ruined him
Iwaizumi: he was really into looking up random animal videos like ‘tarantula vs. scorpion fight’ and stuff like monster bug wars from animal planet and when oikawa made fun of his search history he figured out how to delete it
Hanamaki: vibing to the Phineas and Ferb songs playlist that he made on youtube (of course the aglet song is his favorite one)
Matsukawa: a true tumblr child and was there when this hellsite was first birthed. he remembers the tumblr wars between the fandom and the hipster blogs all too well
Ushijima: didn’t know what the internet was until tendou realized he didn’t have a skype so he made an account for him. until now, ushijima’s status still says ‘hi, wakatoshi here’
Tendou: watching a whole bunch of minecraft song parodies on youtube before eventually making them himself
Semi: either learning guitar through youtube videos or looking up ‘how to play lucky by jason mraz EASY VERSION | NO BAR CHORDS’
Shirabu: he used only Google+ as his social media and wondered why he wasn’t getting any friends
Goshiki: this kid was blessed to be twelve years old when the lego movie came out so he most definitely just used the internet to listen to ‘everything is awesome’ again and again
Kuroo: definitely a fandom kid, one of those from the six major book fandoms (hp, pjo, hg). used to run a fricking roleplay group on tumblr and his oc’s always have a Dark Backstory
Kenma: youguysaregonnacomeformebut--- SONIC THE HEDGEHOG FANFICTION OKAY BYE
Yaku: playing Pet Society on facebook. is it such a coincidence to see him so decked out and rich now when his pet had the same lifestyle? nO
Lev: playing those papa louie games (papa’s pizzeria, papa’s burgeria, etc) and trying to force the game to crash by serving customers 500 chicken wings
Bokuto: as soon as he got a skype account, he’d pretty much voice call anyone and everyone he saw had an ‘active’ status on but his friends didn’t have the heart to switch their status to ‘inactive’
Akaashi: was the king of making ‘which ___ character would be into you (for girls and gays only!!!)’ quizzes that are very detailed. he’d even make a whole character profile with a ‘how you met them’ at the end
Atsumu: used to secretly watch episodes of ‘boys over flowers’ and ‘meteor garden’ on the computer when he was alone at home. eventually got into girl’s generation and super junior
Osamu: a master at playing poptropica and even had a whole gig making poptropica walkthroughs for other people. sometimes he’d play club penguin and get himself kicked out for swearing just for fun
Suna: looking up ‘demons by imagine dragons with lyrics’ on youtube and just playing it on loop. his desktop wallpaper says ‘don’t get too close, it’s dark inside’
Kita: didn’t know what the internet was until suna and aran took pity on him and helped him create a facebook account. until now, his profile pic is still a picture of his jersey number and he has 99+ unchecked notifications
Sakusa: his cousin introduced him to sims. except, sakusa doesn’t play ‘for fun’ but to vicariously live the average salaryman life through his virtual character (he named him steve)
