yes, Cassian was forced to make parts for the weapon that ultimately killed him, but, much more importantly to me—and what feels much more thematically resonant—by doing everything to get those plans into the right hands, Cassian was a direct cause of the destruction of the weapon that he was forced to make parts for while wrongfully imprisoned

I think a lot of people are missing the point of Syril Karn.
Yeah he’s bad at public speaking. He’s awkward. He tailors his uniform and adds extra detailing. He is ignorant and emotional, out of touch.
But that’s not silly or cringe.
That’s terrifying.That’s the terrifying part.
He doesn’t understand life beyond his job. He doesn’t consider the lives his job impacts.
He lives in a power fantasy.
So many authority figures in real life are EXACTLY like Karn.
They are so drunk on power because they are so incompetent and out of touch that any glimmer of authority makes them loose it.
It’s terrifying to see in real life, and it was terrifying to see portrayed so well in Andor.

At the request of @supervisormeero , a costuming detail from the leaked Andor S2 teaser that maybe hasn't been discussed - this screenshot:
Tumblr media
Yes The Brown (!) Coat, yes The Curl
The collar on the shirt though:
Tumblr media
That's very much still a Bureau of Standards uniform but that shirt is a crisp white rather than the grey one he wears in S1. If we're to assume that the ISB's dark < pale hierarchy of uniform applies to the whole Empire (except for the military who apparently all wear black) does this mean that our mid-thirties baby boy got more than the one promotion? Are we looking at Executive Syril here?
It would go a long way to explaining why his hair is so loosely styled (The Curl!!!) I guess; everyone knows that once you get into upper management you're allowed to have more than one piece of flair
Also I can't be certain but that collar very much looks like it's a lot higher than the one on the grey shirt. Why is Syril so afraid of vampires.

Can I just say that I love the way the music indicated it was time for Helen to stop?
There's so many markers here that she's basically won. She got the Disruptors to turn on Miles (partially, at least). She's completely trashed his showroom, almost all of the glass displays shattered on the floor. Miles is too busy looking unimpressed to try to stop her.
The Disruptors themselves have slowed down their destruction, turning to congratulate each other.
And my favorite? The music hits its crescendo and ends on a triumphant note.
The language of the score itself is telling us we're done.
But Helen isn't done. Helen isn't satisfied with this little victory. Helen is willing to "break the thing that nobody wants her to break."

there are so many ways you can see that andor was developed and written not by colonisers but by the colonised-
just two days ago here in ireland was the 102nd anniversary of the first bloody sunday when british soldiers opened fire on a crowd attending a gaelic football match in dublin, killing 14 civilians -
so when that imperial* starts yelling at his men to fire on the crowd* -
let me tell you i could not breathe for a few moments there
*with a british accent
*at the funeral of a woman with an irish accent

People complaining about Star Wars shows being too slow, too much filler, like ok why don’t you just not watch? Log off Twitter?
If you can’t see any of the importance of the episodes that don’t have firefights and explosions every five fucking seconds, and complain there’s no story when the plot flies right over your head, that’s not everyone else’s problem. Yes the beginning of Andor takes a while to swing into things, and there’s many reasons for it. I frankly don’t even understand the complaints around the Bad Batch because each episode is far more obvious in its intents and still very exciting. How did any of you watch The Clone Wars?????
No one cares that you think the episodes not involving direct conflict with the Empire are boring. You’re boring. Gain some sort of common sense and think critically about the storytelling before you complain that there is none :)
#sorry luke skywalker isn’t there to hand feed you the plot and symbolism and lessons you’re meant to take away!#this is mostly happening on twt but I’m complaining here it’s my god given right#stop saying this last episode was filler! they got their ship back omega has a lesson of what home is to others and that injustice can#happen anywhere. power imbalances and greed and unjust actions. there’s also those who can step in and help fight it#like sitting at thanksgiving talking about Andor with my uncle and he’s like ‘it was just soooo slow starting out’ and I was like ????? huh?#i get that stuff like Andor or some episodes of tbb don’t appeal to everyone. complain away whatever. I’m talking about people who say that#it’s just filler or that there’s no story so it’s boring. like huh????#also filler is such an overused and misused term. episodes where there isn’t huge direct conflict with large plot points aren’t just filler#meet the characters explore their relationship there’s story there there’s often more than that even#it’s their first real battle without echo! there’s meaning behind this! sorry you don’t get dramatic empire villains and huge heroic shots#which even then you do! hunter in the big fuckin exhaust pipe! hunter barely saving omega! tech and wrecker shooting the droids!#anyways that’s my opinion ✌️😘#tbb#sw#the bad batch spoilers#z speaks#not gonna tag this as anything else because it’s not my silly little analysis it’s just me complaining

Lifelines (Cassian x Melshi, 4.4k words)
Rating: E
Tags: Canon-Typical Violence, Canon-Typical Torture, Missions Gone Wrong, Hurt/Comfort, Established Relationship, Open Relationships, Blow Jobs, Angst with a Soft Finish
Summary: Cassian and Melshi help each other through a bad mission.
Author’s Note: Action is set between Andor and Rogue One. My brain had to write this, and I have no excuses and no regrets. Thank you very much for reading, and please mind the tags! <3<3<3
--------
After all the years Melshi had spent locked up, he supposed he should be used to the feeling of waking up in captivity - the sour pinch of being pressed out of shape by something hostile and careless and not even looking in his direction - but as he blinked around at the windowless room where he’d just come to his senses, he still flexed his hands automatically against the straps at his wrists, testing their strength against his.
The recon mission on Akiva had gone smoothly when they first arrived. He and Cassian had established contact with Guerrera’s new bag man, Tivik. Cassian had charmingly bullied his way past Tivik’s objections and harried glances toward the door. And then Melshi had settled their new informant in, walking him through the procedures for intel dumps as if reviewing procedures by which Tivik had already agreed to abide.
In fact, the meeting had gone so well that Melshi had allowed himself a moment to relax his shoulders as they made their way out of the city, tipping his chin back and breathing in the scent of jaqhad flowers hanging thick in the air as they made their way to their speeder.
And when the small knot of armed men had stepped into the street in front of them to demand identification, Melshi couldn’t help but feel he was paying some kind of cosmic price for letting down his guard - for having indulged in the brief daydream of resting his hand against the small of Cassian’s back as they made their way through the crowd.

it’s very upsetting to see that people think cassian will not find or return to his friends/family. the entirety of andor has shown cassian going back to his home base and family in times of great distress in his life. he has ALWAYS gone back for the people he loves. look at cassian with jyn. who did he never leave behind? jyn. what did this show even start with? cassian looking for his family. how does rogue one ‘end’? cassian going to his family for help on probably the biggest mission of his entire life. please remember cassian is not a man who would abandon his family or isolate himself from them.
