been thinking a lot abt my s/i’s relationship with max. and how we need each other the same way steve and dustin need each other.

max watching her brother die and knowing she can’t do anything about it. feeling so much complex grief but also knowing she doesn’t have time to deal with those emotions bc things are changing so fast around her. she needs to be there for her mom and take on the challenge of high school. no time for feelings.

and i’m sitting there watching this knowing there’s nothing i can do, feeling just generally terrible til steve helps me make the realization that i was just like her at that age. eldest daughter syndrome made me grow up way faster than i should’ve, and maybe that’s why i don’t talk about my emotions. i had to take care of my mom and sister, had to be the strong one, and it isn’t until i see max doing the same, taking her emotions and shoving them down, that i see it’s not good. that people care for me and are willing to help.

max looking at me, at the way i care for her and the way that burying my emotions eventually leads to me getting cursed by vecna. her seeing the way i’m struggling and realizing she doesn’t want to go down that path too.

the two of us being sisters and deciding to be there for each other- and be there for ourselves just as much.
