On the run after Gusu was burnt down, Lan Xichen is hiding and recovering from his wounds. What he now fears most, however, is that his unseemly behavior might just have accidentally offended his savior. A Lan should know better than this, he knows, and he is determined to make up for it - except that Meng Yao might turn out to be anything but offended.

Written in January for the Italian p0rn fest #17 @landedifandom, on the prompt "Lan Xichen/Meng Yao - I will take care of you".

This was my first fanfiction in quite a long time, and also my first attempt at translating a story from Italian into English in years. My skills are rusty and it probably shows.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great replies! It's fun talking about dgm stuff like this! Oh yeah Tyki's fascination with Allen is interesting. I agree with what you said. I never thought about it in those terms but choice, like w/Allen, is a vital part of Tyki's core. That's why the 3rd encounter seemed strange to me. Before Tyki gave Allen a chance. But this that time Tyki wasn't going to give Allen a choice. He just decided to kidnap him on the spot like it was a decision of his own. -

2 it seemed more possessive that time. Like choice didn't matter anymore. I don't remember the Earl ordering Tyki to capture Allen like that. The whole encounter w/Neah really set Tyki off somehow. He looked very cold towards Neah (maybe it was the Noah memory or being angry over Allen losing to Neah) and Joyd was set off. Tyki's going to dig into Allen and Mana's past as you said. I wonder if Joyd knew Past Allen at all? All we know is Joyd hates Neah but does he hate Allen too? Take care!

Tbh I’ve only started to think about it because the French version translated Tyki’s power of “Selection” as the “Power of Choice” and it kinda stuck with me. Even if the translation wasn’t meant to be correct I really feel like the theme is there and worth discussing about, so thanks French translation for steering me on that path?

aND SAME TBH. I don’t know if the Earl ordered anything per se on that later scene but from what we saw, there is a huge team of Noah hunting down Allen right now (that we saw, Tyki, Wisely, Fiidora and the Jasdebi twins - and the Earl as well). the last time when Tyki left Allen go on his own way, he was only with Road. The original order was to keep him safe back then so I think he didn’t feel like he wasn’t obeying the orders by letting him go.  And Road has as much of a softspot for Allen than he does.

Things are also getting more tense for Allen now: when they freed him he was hunted down by Apocryphos already yes but they probably didn’t calculate how dire of a threat he was already. Now, Allen’s innocence had been starting to act weird and Nea is slowly taking over as well, more than he was before, and the full Order is chasing him. I think it would be enough of the situation for the Earl to go from “let him come to us” to “Get him, no matter what”, and that would influence how Tyki behaves. His value of choice wouldn’t matter if the Earl is directly ordering it. 

Also i think that when he tried to kidnap Allen he was specifically with Wisely at that moment, so it’s not like he could do it Solo and ignore his duty.

And yes, definitly agreeing on the Tyki/Nea encounter. Honestly I like to think Tyki was ticked off by Allen being remplaced by Nea (Allen is, after all, a pokerbuddy for him. I think i do recall him saying that they would have been great friends had they not been on the opposite side of the war. And tbh the fact Allen did strip every of his friends dry and then just gave everything back may have softened Tyki on their first meeting, enough to at least value the boy.) but ye I do think it’s probably too tied with Joyd in general as well. 

Do the Noah know Nea killed them all last time? I think they do. And Tyki has a hard time handling Joyd since the innocence poisoning so his own thoughts might be even more of a mess now. Joyd is probably the most awakened Noah of the gang (behind the Earl, Wisely and Road) which offers interesting possibilities with him.

And that’s a very good question! At this point we can legit wonder who else among the Noah could have known Past!Allen and if Joyd knew him... that would make for some even more interesting stuff to explore. 

Tbh we know the Noah kinda rejected Nea as he was kindof the Odd ones, “the 14th”was a pejorative calling since he wasn’t meant to belong to the team. So god knows how the Noah felt toward Nea in general before the massacre. Then, being killed horribly might have made it Worse of course. (it’s still the question too of what did Nea do to Joyd that his reincarnation took over Nea’s face? I think i recall Joyd also coming out when Nea talks about his face, so there’s... something Joyd is trying to do there. He was more affected by Nea than the others and It’s.... interesting to know. (.... even more so considering Mana blew up his face to not look like Nea anymore, and on the other hand we have Joyd reincarnating to have Nea’s face. There has to be somthing there.))

Point is what if some of the Noah didn’t completely hate Nea either, not all of them at least? 

And ofc Past!Allen. since he was this close to Nea, it is possible the others Noah knew about him. Depends on how Nea kept his friendships known (I mean Tyki’s friends don’t seem to be known by the family but Sheril’s family is known by the family so...) 

If Past!Allen was a Bookman back when the Bookmen were on the Noah’s sides though, and considering the whole Campbell thing... There must be something there worth exploring. and with what’s happening right now in canon with Tyki also doing his investigations now, it could tie up loose ends.

It’s a lot of if though ;;w;;
