Tumblr media
This fandom used to be an open and inviting space where people could share their creativity in a form that they, as the author, enjoyed. Unfortunately, as has become obvious, this is no longer the case, and many authors are beginning to feel trapped by the invisible constraints put upon them by a group of people who feel they can shout louder than others. Therefore, I am asking all Jegulus authors, whether we are friends, mutuals, don’t even like each other, or have never crossed paths, to join me in “No Post November.” Enough is enough.
Don’t write? Help us out by sharing this post and encouraging all Jegulus Authors to participate. Feel free to not post any other type of Jegulus media you create to stand with us against the hate.
Here are images you should feel free to use on your own blogs.

HEY IF YOU ARE HARASSING AUTHORS FOR NOT JOINING THE STRIKE YOU ARE THE FUCKING PROBLEM

A difference of opinion is not an excuse to levy hatred at people. That’s kind of the fucking point to this whole thing.
Listen, my personal opinion is that everyone who actively posts for the Jegulus fandom should be participating in the strike. I think the show of solidarity is important; I think standing up for the people in this fandom who have been harassed and criticized for what they choose to write and the choices they make therein is important, and I will continue to actively encourage everyone to join the effort up until the first rolls around and the strike itself begins.
But everyone has their own reasons for doing - or not doing - something, and as an adult who isn’t a Massive Asshole I respect enormously that there will be people who don’t want to/can’t participate. I’m not going to get mad at them for it. It’s not my decision to make for them, and I don’t know the intricate details of their life, or why they make the choices they will.
I absolutely agree that no one should resist joining because they have personal issues with any of the other people taking part, because protests aren’t supposed to be personal. You shouldn’t resist shows of solidarity simply because you don’t get on with someone.
But I will happily take it on faith that the people who don’t want to take part in No Post November are doing so for good reasons. If it is personal, I’m sure that for them, it’s a good reason, and it only actually needs to be as much for them.
But even if it’s not, no one should be sending anyone hate for not participating. If you are, you’re exactly the problem we’re trying to deal with. Hate is always bad, always. Sending people death threats and nasty messages is always bad.
You’re missing the entire point of this strike, and you need to fucking stop.
If you want to show support, show it by putting one of Ollie’s images in your pinned or just stating it on your blog; and if you want to ask an author you enjoy if they’d be willing to participate, feel free.
But do not send anyone hate. That’s precisely the opposite of what we’re after here. It is never, ever acceptable.

I have a shit ton of homework I should be doing right now, but at this moment I’m going to address why I, as an author, have decided not to join the jegulus strike.
I want to firstly say that Im super proud of those of you who have decided to join the strike, that’s good for you, and I’m glad you’re making that choice for yourself.
The reason I have decided against joining the strike (there are a few reasons) are as follows
I don’t agree with some of the authors as writers. That’s not to say that they’re bad people, or bad writers, they’ve just made choices I don’t stand behind. I don’t think this is a reason not to join, it’s just something that influenced me.
Im a minor in the fandom. This strike seems to have stricken a chord particularly among the adults in the fandom, again not say that minors can’t join the strike, just a reason I haven’t.
There are more reasons, I won’t address every single one, but I do want to talk about a lot of the adult authors that I’ve seen shitting on the young people in the fandom. I can’t speak for everyone, but I really like the authors of the fandom, not just as authors, but as people. I enjoy their tumblr posts, I understand that they are people, not robots, and I generally want the best for them. It’s really disheartening to see an author that I’ve looked up to for a really long time talking about how we “invaded their fandom” and that “we all need to be woke and morality police them”. It fucking sucks. Us smaller, younger authors have feelings too, and constantly ranting about how much you want us out of your fandom really sucks. I wanted to be just like you, and you don’t even want me here.
Now I’m not saying that these people deserve DEATH THREATS, I’m just saying that yeah, having people you look up to complaining about you hurts a little. I’m still taking a small break, but I don’t consider myself to be a part of no post November.
We really need to be nicer. Everyone needs to band together to stop being assholes. Once again, full respect to everyone participating, you have my blessing (not that you asked) and I think it’s awesome that you’re standing up for yourselves! I also want to say that if you’re hating on people who ARENT participating, you’re part of the problem. You’re not a bad person for choosing to post in November. The fics are for you, post them when you choose. It’s really sad that we’ve come to a strike just for people to treat us like people, but there are so many sides to this that make it hard for me to choose to participate.
In summary (why is this so fucking long 😭) post what you like, when you like. If you don’t like it, just roll your eyes and stop reading. Don’t send death threats, that’s never cool. If you want more updates, tell the author how much you love their work, don’t harass them. The adults in the fandom need to stop shitting on the minors. We just wanted a community, and I agree, some of us are obsessed with being “woke” and I don’t believe in censorship, but it’s really sickening when your favorite people are talking about how much you fucked up their fandom. Full respect to anyone who participates in no post November, and absolute love to anyone who chooses not to. Harassing people for not participating is just as bad as harassing authors, and if you’re doing that you’ve missed the point.

Starting from the 1st of November and for every single fucking day of November, I will be hosting/posting crash course lessons. Basically all about being a normal human being, and treating people, LIKE PEOPLE (that’s an unheard of concept omgggg!!!). Clearly mommy and daddy didn’t teach you how to NOT bite other people, so I’m taking up the role.
All I ask is that you rb/tweet/post each “lesson/post” for that day to spread the message, maybe people will finally learn. (if you’re comfortable of course)
Just as a reminder!! These lessons are not just for the jegulus fandom. Any fandom, big or small can benefit from these too, so come join!!
GET READY FOR “AUGGIE’S DAYCARE” STARTING NOVEMBER 1ST
follow me, or follow along through the hashtag, (if you want!) (#auggie’s daycare)

It’s really sad to see all the discourse in this fandom. I’m new to the marauders fandom and more specifically the jegulus fandom, but I’ve been in fandom spaces for years, and sadly this isn’t a new thing to see. However, I’m in full support of the strike. Writing fanfiction is a hobby, and for some it’s a support thing, a way to express and process things, and people leaving hate comments or pressuring them is appalling to see. Authors do not owe you a goddamn thing. They do not owe an update when you snap your fingers and demand it. They do not owe you a change in their fanfic just because you don’t like an aspect of a character or a plot point. It is their fanfic to write, to decide how it goes.
Something I remember seeing was some people hating the MCD in Art Heist, Baby! but it was tagged properly, you knew what you were getting into when reading it. The author decided that was how they wanted their story to go and so that’s how it was going to go, so why send hate about it? You don’t like something? Keep your mouth shut and exit the tab, don’t comment your opinion about it.
Now, I was going to start posting my first ever jegulus fic “We are Constellations” in November as it is my birth month so it is a little gift to myself but I’m supporting the strike and I’ll have to delay it to December.
I am so sorry to all the authors who have received hate or other kinds of comments from people. Keep writing your stories how you want to write them!!

i hope no post november is successful and that a lot of people participate. i don't think it will actually teach anyone any lessons, and i think the people that are the issue won't actually realise that it is them that is the cause. but what i hope will happen is that all these people with short attention spans that are only here to cause drama and spread hate, will just leave the fandom because they find it boring. if at the end of november, the fandom is back to prepandemic levels, i will be happy :)

i know i don’t post a lot of actual fics (what i do have isn’t enough for me to want to publish it yet), but i have posted snippets and stuff.
i will be participating in No Post November.
even for my non-jegulus works.
i will not post anything (which actually, i had wanted to work on something and post it soon but. kids are being bitches.)
also, i will not be reblogging anything related to jegulus until after the month of november.
i’ll still post, but nothing related to jegulus or any of my works. I will only speak of and share snippets in discord chats with people i know aren’t the problem.
i know i’m a very small creator and my stuff doesn’t reach many people, but 1) they seem to like what’s already out, and 2) the more people that do this, even smaller creators, the more likely it will be that it actually changes something.

AND IT MAKES US SO UNCOMFORTABLE TO EVEN KNOW THAT IT EXISTS OUT THERE SOMEWHERE BC ITS SO DISGUSTING. yes they aren’t real but that doesn’t make a fucking difference.
i hope u fucking rot in hell when it come ur time.

Alrighty boys, girls, and gentlethems, I guess it's time for me to make my stance abundantly clear. I fully endorse and will be participating in No Post November. Now I am aware I am a baby author and likely my lack of posting won't be noticed, but it is the principle of this all. This strike is about more than just depriving those who have hurt others of content. It is more than any one author or ship. This strike is about banding together as a community to say enough is e-fucking-nough. We are tired of seeing people hurt by others. We are done with the death threats. We will no longer tolerate authors being shit on for their content by ungrateful readers. We cannot and will not sit back and watch as people providing free fucking content are abused. This goes for the entirety of the Marauders fandom. Whether you write Jegulus or not, I implore you to take part and spread awareness for No Post November. We have to stand together and show those who would abuse us that this is not going to be tolerated anymore. Because this won't stop at the Jegulus fandom. It will spread like the hate filled disease it is until in infects us all. To those of you saying you need to write for you mental health GREAT! I and many other authors do the same. No one and I repeat NO ONE is saying you cannot write during this time. In fact I encourage you too strongly. We are saying don't post. Share things with your close friends if you need to, but do not release it to the general public. Let them see how deafening silence can be when there is no one left to create. If you NEED to post, I encourage you to examine that. Your mental health SHOULD NOT be linked to kudos, likes, or comments. If you are doing this for that there is something wrong and dangerous going on. Your writing is worth more. YOU are worth more. You matter. Please, please, please want more for yourself than a life dependent on others for validation. You are enough, and I sincerely want you to take that to heart. This strike effects us all, so please do the right thing. Don't post. If you are part of a fest let the fest be the only thing that promotes it, or ask for an option to move yours to December. Do what you can for yourself and this fandom we all love so much.

To set out what No Post November/the Jegulus Strike is going to look like for this blog:
-Though the original Blind!Regulus post has very nearly hit the threshold of 2k notes, I will not be posting anything for it in celebration of that until December.
-No more updates to Another Word (And I Could Choke) until December.
-No updates to Of Starless Skies until December.
-No more headcanon posts until December.
-No more snippets until December.
-Nothing more of Through the Veil, or the Titanic!AU, or any of my other tumblr-specific series will be posted until December.
-I will not be reblogging anything from anyone who does not participate.
-I’ve edited my pinned post to state that I’m closed for prompts/snippet requests, and that will stay until December.
I don’t know yet if I’ll post anything from Smoke Slow; while it is MoonSeeker rather than Jegulus, I think a full post blackout would be more effective than still posting other ships, and I may put it on hold until December as well.
I’ll still reblog web-weaving and inspiration posts, and be around to chat, and I might open up an ask box game or two for general questions, but content will almost certainly stop in its entirety.
To be clear; no one is doing this gleefully. I like posting fic on here; I like seeing people enjoy it, like to have a back and forth with people on my headcanon posts. But the rampant hate in this fandom has to stop, or the fandom itself will die, and so now and again there have to be clear consequences.
On the first of November I’ll put one of the images Ollie shared at the top of my pinned post so everyone is aware I’m participating.

I don’t know how many people this will reach, because I’m a proper fandom hermit and have never posted/reblogged something on tumblr in my life, so you know this really means something to me. Regardless, here goes…
I’ll just spit it out — I’m really frustrated by no post November. Look, I get it, the fandom right now is fucked. The hate Jegulus authors have been receiving is horrible and absolutely no one deserves that. Never in my 10+ years of Tumblr have I been so appalled by the actions of my peers, but I just don’t get this strike. I’ve always found fandom spaces a really liberating environment, but now I feel like my presence here is being attacked from every angle. As someone in their mid twenties, I’m faced with constant exclusionary sentiment. People older than me lump me in with the hateful minors (‘they’re not yet 25, so their brain isn’t developed; must be problematic’) and people younger than me associate me with the problematic adults (‘they’re 20+ and still participating in fandom; must be problematic’). The entire reason I started reading fanfic and consuming fan-made material was because I felt excluded in every other aspect of my life. To now have the fandom turn around and essentially tell me I have no place here is really upsetting.
Okay, but what does this have to do with no post November? This strike is initiated by someone who has spewed this exclusionary rhetoric for a long time. Which is hugely ironic considering one of their major issues with minors in the fandom has been that they don’t think adults should write minors having sex. This organiser is refraining from posting for the general public but is more than happy to initiate and participate in a 25+ Jegulus server (because “25 is when you’re mature or whatever”) during November. And they’ll have a “channel to post fic chapter updates instead of AO3.” So it’s not no post November then, is it? It’s just exclude everyone under 25 November.
More than this, I just honestly don’t understand how a Jegulus strike harms the people who are being hateful. Sure, people often read fanfic to then shit on it, but they’re clearly not fucking enjoying it. Their entire purpose is to get these writers to stop writing. And what is the proposed solution? To stop writing… All this achieves is demonstrating to the hateful readers that whining and complaining and being a general dick of a person actually achieves something. And the rest of us readers who consume fanfic sensibly? Well, we’re left with out content for a month. Or, sorry, it’s just the readers less than 25 who are left without content…
What of the readers who are not outright hateful but still disrespectful (harassing writers for new chapters) you say? The amount of call out posts I have seen on my dash is alarming, and yet this persists. If these people had a modicum of respect or care for writers, they would have stopped already. But they haven’t. And what turns uncaring readers into hateful people? Anger. And what will anger the people who demand faster updates more than anything? No post November.
But the exposure! We’re raising awareness! First of all, I think everyone is very fucking aware of the discourse in this fandom. But, in saying that, most of this discourse and hate comes from platforms like twitter (which is not even a part of this strike discourse). All that will get relayed to the hateful twitter users is that their most despised authors aren't writing anything. Nothing of the dialogue about respectful fandom consumption will make its way over to this hell site. Yay to them…
And what of the writers who choose (for whatever reason) not to participate in this strike? Well, the sentiment was “you do you or whatever.” But then this shit gets reblogged by the organiser;
“I’m not a fic author, but I am a reader. And I want everyone to pay attention to the people that don’t participate in No Post November. Those people, they are not part of your Marauders community. They are just here for the kudos, comments, and likes.”
So not only is this strike excluding young people, it’s excluding everyone who doesn’t want to participate or god forbid agree with them. As a pol-sci graduate this is not how you approach a strike if you want success. Literally all this strike is doing is perpetuating the exclusionary bullshit that they want to avoid.
And to the authors who are participating because they genuinely don’t know how else to handle the shit show that is the Jegulus fandom right now; this is not on you. I understand that this strike is a last resort for many people, but as a reader who joined fandom spaces to feel included, this strike goes against everything I stand for. To be honest, I don’t really care about the lack of content for a month. Sure, it’s not ideal but authors need breaks sometimes and I’ve got a plethora of other fandoms I can turn to. But this exclusionary shit? Un-fucking-acceptable.
So to all, do whatever you want to do. And if you do want to participate in the strike, all I ask is that you consider why. If you want a break from the fandom, may I suggest simply taking a break. And if you do genuinely believe this will work, that’s totally fair and all the more power to you for exercising your democratic right.
But for me? From the organiser to the rhetoric of this strike, it is abundantly clear to me that this is not about teaching hateful people a lesson. It’s about punishing everyone who doesn’t fit into the absurdly small box they have drawn.

I just want to say, to any and all authors that have received hate over their fics, I am so so sorry. Writing, especially fic writing, should not be censored in anyway. You should be entitled to creative freedom, to explore and write whatever the fuck you want. To you (generalized you) who have sent hate to someone over fictional characters please take a long hard look at yourself and put yourself in these author’s shoes, receiving hate and fucking death threats over something fictional! Like what the fuck??
You are the ones who ruin the experience of fanfiction, of being a community like this because you think it’s okay to do such a thing. It is appalling and quite frankly disgusting to see.
To the authors who have experienced it, if you want to, please keep writing your fics, please keep doing what you love because no one else can tell the idea like you can. And thank you for your fics, thank you for dedicating time and energy into creating them. 🧡
