aobuta kaede movie spoilers and thoughts from a menhera since i just watched it

this was a simple story arc that may feels lackluster to some yet more heart-wrenching once you could put yourself in Kaede's shoes. I cannot tell details but I was once in Kaede's place and once in Sakuta's place with my sibling, which makes me even more loving of their sibling portrayal here.

Sakuta and Kaede is, so far, the most healthy and respectable sibling relationship I ever saw on anime, and it gave me so much feelings exactly because I could relate to either of them as an older sister of one. They care a lot about each others without making it crossing the line at any case, and it's wonderful.

That aside, this movie is one of the Aobuta stories that I feel could still deliver without the supernatural elements. Heck, even if Kaede's Puberty Syndrome didn't act out, her having a mental breakdown until she couldn't take her exam is still a very valid thing for her upon seeing a student with the same uniform that in her thought could've been bullying her in the past.

I always felt like Aobuta is a series that deals with people who struggled mental disabilities and mental illness as teenagers respectfully even with its supernatural approach, and I clearly saw that in this movie.

While I cannot speak for people who actually had DID, Kaede's case is brought very respectfully in my opinion, as the other Kaede wasn't hand-waved as the effect of Puberty Syndrome, but rather as Kaede's trauma response after Puberty Syndrome.

That, and I am glad to see an anime for once portrays homeschooling students as just everyday people just choosing to get one (most of the time they're either a social recluse or portrayed as very innocent angels who know no better).

Uzuki's a pretty interesting character, definitely autistic coded (I cannot see the words 'someone who can't read atmosphere' in Japanese media and not interpret them as not autistic because it's pretty much a 'code' people use to refer to people in the spectrum in Asian media) and I'm glad we got to knew her more than just the panty gag from the anime. I hope she befriends Kaede more.
