A chronic manipulator dies. I didn't mean to turn this into a video, but Tumblr doesn't recognize the song as a transformative "Whiter Shade of Pale" and the audio uploader kept spitting it out.

Restaurant Owners Charged with COVID-Relief Fraud
Tumblr media
San Diego Restaurant Owners Leronce Suel and Ravae Smith Charged with COVID-Relief Fraud and Money Laundering (STL.News) A federal grand jury in San Diego returned an indictment on May 19 charging a California man and woman with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. According to the indictment, Leronce Suel and Ravae Smith owned Rockstar Dough LLC and Chicken Feed LLC, both of which operated a series of restaurants in the San Diego area.  From March 2020 to June 2022, Suel and Smith allegedly conspired to underreport over $1.7 million in gross receipts on Rockstar Dough LLC’s 2020 corporate tax return (From the 1120S) filed with the IRS in order to qualify for the COVID-related Paycheck Protection Program and Restaurant Revitalization Funding loans.  Suel and Smith also allegedly made materially false certifications on loan applications regarding the use of the money.  The indictment charges that Suel and Smith made substantial cash withdrawals from their business bank accounts to launder the fraudulently obtained funds.  As part of the conspiracy, Suel and Smith allegedly concealed more than $2.4 million in cash at their residence. Suel and Smith made their initial court appearance yesterday before U.S. Magistrate Judge William V. Gallo of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.  If convicted, they face a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison for wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and ten years in prison for money laundering.  A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Randy S. Grossman for the Southern District of California made the announcement. “During an unprecedented public health emergency, the United States provided these loan programs to deliver economic relief to Americans,” said U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman for the Southern District of California.  “This office will investigate and prosecute those who exploited the global pandemic to unjustly enrich themselves.  We encourage anyone with information regarding individuals who have engaged in COVID-relief fraud to come forward.” Grossman thanked the prosecution team and the investigative agency for their excellent work on this case. “The CARES Act was passed to aid those in need and provide much-needed relief during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Unfortunately, there are individuals and organizations who took advantage and targeted these programs to steal funds,” said Special Agent in Charge Tyler Hatcher of the Los Angeles Field Office.  “Submitting false returns in support of a fraudulent loan application is a crime.  IRS-CI is committed to aggressively investigating these crimes and bringing those to justice who stole funds and targeted relief programs during the pandemic.” The IRS-Criminal Investigation is investigating the case. Trial Attorney Julia Rugg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Beeler of the Southern District of California are prosecuting the case. I found about the Once-ler fandom recently, and while it was jarring to see, it was also interesting piece that I regret missing wholeheartedly. This fandom has opened something about the Once-ler that I didnt appreciate back then. The most interesting sight to see, however, is Camp Weehawken. While I'm sure most of the people here went through Deoncelerization, it is breathtaking to see all the characters made for this camp. And as tribute for this camp, I decided to make my own character based around everything. Meet Lavender Leronce. A musician with a dream of rising big. However, like his dreams, his anxiety is also big. He hopes a job on this camp will help with this problem and help inspire him to create a masterpiece. I will leave him here for people to see. Some see this as a thing in the past while others embrace it. I'm one of those people who wishes to embrace this phenomenon in my life and I hope you all enjoy my drawing.

Unrelated ideas and experiments slammed together into one project, you won't be able to tell. Cool bullet points:
It's a piece from a Dutch song from the early 2000s I translated to English.
It's sung by two robots, except not really. I performed it and gave that recording to the AI.
The voice models are flawed and I can't do anything about that at this moment.
To make the use of these voices less random, obligatory The Biggering connection.
If you don't know why Gabriel Mann plays The Once-ler here, instead of Ed Helms, very sad. I'm never going to explain it again.

Once-ler drinks wine and jerks off to his lover. For almost a year now, my audio posts have struggled to show the correct music player when viewing them on my homepage, so since title nor preview image will show, here's a picture to summarize:
Tumblr media
It's a mashup between Gabriel Mann's "Lighted Up" and a random Newgrounds song I clicked on, naturally. A reminder to how this Gabriel Mann and (Illumination's) Once-ler are connected: Mann is the guy who sang the cancelled predecessor to "How Bad Can I Be?".

Tried the same with The Once-ler, but never mind, Jesus.

The Lorax movie had a predecessor to How Bad Can I Be?, this being a rock musical ditty called Biggering. I'd say the song's genre matched the man singing it; this Once-ler wasn't going to be a fedora-wearing teenager. I would've liked a genuine villain, but most movie companies don't want unironic antagonists in their kids entertainment anymore. A solution to this could've been a Lorax movie for adults, and why not, it's a demographic with the brain capacity to fully understand the message, and the control to make a change. The problem with children is I HATE THEM BUT THEY ALWAYS LOVE ME LIKE THE DAMN CATS THEY ARE, but also, they're first to point at a thing and shout: "PARENTAL FIGURE! I DESIRE THIS USELESS OBJECT! I SHALL SCREAM AND HUMILIATE ALL WHO HEAR IT IF MY WISH IS NOT GRANTED YESTERDAY.". They don't care if you tell them their toy was made with slave labour, they're gonna want that Five Nights At Freddy's plushie. The one with the empathy and final decision will always be the adult caretaker. This is why I kinda think the original Lorax book is not effective, either. Some people say the replacement of Biggering for something more tongue in cheek is thanks to companies' reluctance to blow the whistle on themselves. After all, tone-deaf ads came with the movie, starring The Lorax, happily endorsing the products featured. I'd call it a believable take if this demo song wasn't published on official soundtrack CD's and Youtube. Illumination is not exactly hiding its existence. It's a shame How Bad Can I Be will forever surpass it in views and adoration, but I'm not going to act too dramatic over it, as the songs in this movie are the only things I enjoyed about it. I boogied, what can I say. I don't think it's ever been in Illumination's interest to create heavy messages. They target the youngest, who want bright colours and pop music. It's a formula that works, why deviate. It's about the money. It's about the biggering. It makes their choice to adapt The Lorax, of all things, pretty bad, but knowing them, they'd just sing How Bad Can I Be at me in response. Anyway, there's the unnecessary context for the song I uploaded. It's a remix of Biggering and a Gigi D'Agostino track, only the good things in life. I made sure not to copy-paste and retained demo Once-ler's vibe. Rest in peace, my evil murderous swine, you never stood a chance. Got a lyric video if that's something you think is cool. Well. Change da world. My final message. Goodbye.

I like your reimagined version of the once-ler. I also love the idea that the lorax is real or a figment of the once-ler guilt.
Either way, he's being stalked by an orange hamster.

How life would have gone for onceler if everything has gone down on his business after a shorter while much before the whole destruction of the truffula and the ultimate leave of the Lorax?
In the story, he had enough money to take that early retirement and hide away from the world, but in your scenario, wouldn't have covered his bases yet. He'd have to restart his journey to success. Since Truffula stayed mostly unharmed, he's redeemable in the eyes of the public. Let him return a short year later with another product and people will bite again. He'll be a smarter villain this time around as well.

Would once-ler reacted different to meeting Lorax had it happen when he was older, maybe already starting his business and being in his path for success? I can see it going the same since he was clearly already on a specific mindset even before, but maybe indeed could have been different
He'd likely not tell him about his past, so that erases a whole set of sad excuses to use against him, but other than that, no.

Yo, what's the story regarding the blind, deaf, and mute Tree Reincarnation of the Onceler?
The story is
THERE'S NOT GONNA BE A SEQUEL
but also that he became bored of being a tree for about 30 years and recreated his old body on sheer willpower, and perhaps thanks to the supernatural Lorax having meddled with his soul. A tree doesn't see, speak, or is able to hear, so neither can he. The Lorax finds him wandering Truffula and contacts professional help to come get him, but Once-ler throws a psychotic hissy fit when they try to claim him. He still can't handle being touched, and with touch being the only sense he has left, The Lorax has to accept that he's the least stress-inducing contender for the job as his caretaker. This story is more or less where Lorax' human design originates from. Once-ler keeps stepping on him in his normal form. He's allowed to touch and guide him, as long he signals it's him beforehand, though it takes Once-ler a long time to stop shivering and get the sickly sweats. The feel of bare/human skin is what makes things harder and it would've helped if Lorax made gloves out of his fur, but that's not a solution they consider. Once-ler has such a good sense of touch in general, he learns to lip read by planting his hands on Lorax' face. Lorax learns to read lip in general. It's the only way for them to communicate. All in all, it's a chore taking care of this guy. The Lorax is hopeful his senses will return, but wonders what will happen to Truffula when or if that happens. He's not against the idea of giving The Once-ler a chance at a normal life, but he's constantly worried his patient might not be reformed and merely pretends to be carefree in his presence. After all, he's the one who turned him into a tree, intended to be a reward for saving Truffula, but really, what makes something like that not purgatory? Once-ler's deathbed redemption is the only reason Lorax entertains the thought of playing his nurse at all, but it doesn't necessarily answer the question whether or not Once-ler will kick his skull in when no longer dependant on him. His senses can be restored, but it requires things that are unlikely to happen. For example, he'd have to cry genuine tears to restore his eye sight. That's something he doesn't do, he was never allowed to. Lorax doesn't know the how and if of it all, either, so his recovery isn't speeding up. That's the gist of the story.
