GOD chapter 59 was SO GOOD n i have a lot to say so sending an ask instead of leaving it on the post.

i /love/ when you make things hyper detailed, because your shading techniques are so much fun to sit n stare at and soak in for a while. that being said, the coloring of the wine spilling is what does it for me this time. it still would have been really cool in bw, but not as cool as seeing all the shades of red over the dark blue bg. you did the glass really well too!! I don't think there's a noticeable difference between the wine color inside and outside the glass which is fine bc it's clear, so it RLY makes me appreciate the lighting you have around the glass rim to show the edge in contrast. that tiny little detail makes the image for me. stellar work. i love it

also i do wanna throw in appreciation for the handwritten serif. super well done at first glance it did look like you'd jus typed it out. idk what texture you have on the brush you use for words but it's rly nice to look at up close.

i think the color kinda tipped me off but i waffled bc i couldn't remember if either of his parents spoke in serif font and was a bit daunted to dig thru 50+ chapters to confirm who it was if it didn't turn out to be them. i'm glad i looked at your tags tho haha saved me the trouble. what a way to end the act too!! i read this one on my phone and was scrolling thru the images at full size and after four or so i kept expecting it to cut off. it was a very pleasant surprise to have it keep going, worth the wait to have a longer chapter :)

I remember that Pirate AU! I really wanted to see more of it! I wonder if Siren reader resides in the seas of Liyue, Inazuma, or Fontaine? Maybe even Mondstat? Or does she travel from season to season? And I wonder how other genshin women become pirates... People like Jean could be a very busy pirate that's somehow also working with a lot of paperwork within the captains lounge. And do you think the genshin women from different nations do well in a boat together? (Separately by nation of course! Like Jean with Lisa, Eula, and Amber? Apologies if I forgot someone...)

I imagine that each region’s women has their own pirate ship that rules their part of the seas. Mondstadt has their own ship with the Mondstadt women onboard as pirates, Liyue has their own ship with the Liyue women as pirates, and then so on for the other regions! (This way we have an excuse to make all the genshin women as hot pirates…)

Since the Pirate AU first started out in Fontaine, I imagine that Siren! Reader originally lived in Fontaine’s waters, but can easily travel to different regions through the ocean. However, the Fontaine women were definitely the first ones to capture you first, and it’s not long before the other regions’ pirate ships catch news that Fontaine managed to capture a legendary creature.

In this AU, I imagine that sirens are an extremely rare and elusive creature (many thought that they were hunted to extinction) so there would definitely be some pirate wars over snatching you for themselves. Everyone wants to have a siren in their possession, whether it’s for good intentions or bad 😨

This one is more like a head canon

Since the love square is reversed the episodes jus goes like Mari just living her daily life with her friends and having beff with Cloe while Adrian is the one who tries so hard to get closer to mari and her friends but thanks to Cloe he just ends with misunderstandings like the Bubble Gum one that make him look bad even having a bully reputation then akuma time for Adrian is less time round mari but freedom while mari is exited because she gets to be with chat but her flirting skill aren't the best

Ladybug and Queen Bee’s relationship is similar to canon!!

Chloe still looks up to Ladybug a lot, but her ego does get in the way of Ladybug’s plan, which makes her difficult to work with. Ladybug sees her more as a fan girl if anything. But Chat Noir has a soft spot for Queen Bee (she reminds him an awful lot of Chloe) so he tries to be patient with her.

Alya and Nino will get to know Ladybug’s secret identity.

Alya figures it out around the same time as Luka does because they both worked together to try and see if their theory about Marinette being Ladybug was true. Nino only finds out when she exposes her identity to the entirety of Paris because of Lila. (This is part of the finale for Season 3 of my au, so this is on the path to her sacrificing herself!!)

Chocoau Lore information/explanation below!

In the AU, if a miraculous holder exposes their identity to someone, then that person will forget their secret identity altogether. It’s a curse set in place to protect the miraculous and the holder. So, if Marinette told Alya she was Ladybug OR Alya caught her transforming/de-transforming, Alya would forget Marinette ever existed in a few hours.

There are small loopholes around this rule, like if the person figures it out themselves but never confront the holder or have their suspicions confirmed in any way, then they’ll retain their memories. (Like in Alya’s case.) It’s a dangerous slippery slope tho, since you’re risking the fact that a loved one will never remember you again, so it’s best to just. Not be caught ehehfwehf.

(Ladybug doesn’t forget the miraculous holders identities (such as Alya and Chloe and others she hands them out to) once she becomes the guardian because once you are the guardian of the miraculous you are immune to the curse! (Or something similar to that). But When Master Fu made Marinette/Ladybug the holder, however, he forgot who Ladybug and Chat Noir’s secret identity was.)

Also that head canon is EXTREMELY on point-

Carmy's re-introduction to Claire in Pasta

I was talking to @thoughtfulchaos773 recently about the scene where Carmy re-meets Claire at the grocery store in S2E2. From what I've seen, I think the pervasive interpretation of him not recognizing her at first is that he's lying about it or pretending not to recognize her initially (to avoid her, probably). But I was thinking...what if he doesn't actually recognize her?

In the season 3 trailer, there's a scene (around 1:27) of Claire and Carmy looking at each other. Carmy appears to be wearing the same shirt that he wore during Fishes (also Theodore Fak I think in the background). I wonder if we are going to find out that Claire was there that night, after Donna crashed her car into the house.

There's a condition called Dissociative Amnesia, which is a rare condition where your mind protects you from traumatic experiences, including episodes of violence and abuse, by blocking the memories from being retrieved and actively remembered.

Fishes contains a whole lot of stress and negative experiences for everyone at the dinner, but especially for Carmy. And it culminates in Donna crashing her car into the house. If Claire was there that night and was a witness to the trauma or its aftermath, it makes sense to me that the whole thing could have been upsetting enough to Carmy that his mind would block those memories out, including of Claire's presence, of her in general.

And if Claire was present for this very traumatic thing that happened to Carmy, he disassociated and forgot her, and she pushed herself back into his life by getting his phone number from Fak...that's a lot. (Granted, the trauma was not her fault.) And it seems like a very tall or even impossible order to build a relationship with someone who was there for one of your most traumatic memories, so much so that your brain blocked the memories of that person in a spell of retrograde dissociative amnesia. The trauma would always be there, under the surface of the relationship, especially if it was never addressed with therapy.

★She quickly learned that you couldn't sleep at night so long as she was around, so day time naps were the way to go.

★You would usually be going about some chores when you would feel her arms wrap around you and pick you up. Before you got the chance to say anything, you were being teleported back into your bed and Lottie was curling up against you.

★"H-Hey! I need to finish that- Lottie hold on a sec!"

★At first you would fight against her grip, attempting to wriggle free, but Endermen were strong and you slowly got used to it and just let it happen. Because of these typical shenanigans you eventually became somewhat nocturnal, tending to your chores at night and taking long naps during the day.

★Sometimes you forgot Lottie was a mob until she gave you a good reason to remember.

★One of these instances you were tending to the garden late at night [because your clingy ass girlfriend ruined your sleep schedule] when you realized you hadn't seen Lottie for a little while. This didn't really strike you as odd since Endermen had a tendency to just vanish. So you were minding your own business, and tending to your crops, perking up when your favorite mob appear behind you.

★As you spun on your heels to greet her, you felt your heart sink into your feet. Lottie was covered in blood, and acting abnormally nonchalant about it.

★"Holy shit! What happened to you?"

★At first you thought Lottie had gotten hurt and was now bleeding out as if that was totally normal. But then you remembered Endermen blood was purple, not the sickly crimson splattered across Lottie's clothes.

★You recalled seeing a death message from the server, but you hadn't paid too much attention to it. As you watched the blood slowly drip down her claws, you seriously wondered if you should have.

★"Lottie... what did you do?"

★She brushed past you and ignored the question completely, which made you all the more concerned.

★You grabbed her wrist [instantly grossed out when you felt the blood on your own hand] and forced her to stop moving away from you.

★"This is serious! What happened out there?"

★She huffed before pointing at her eyes and then your own.

★"What does that even... oh wait, eye-contact? They made eye-contact?" She nodded quick, and you couldn't help but to sigh with relief, "Ok, at least it was an accident and not out of some random murderous desire."

★As you said it, she kind of made a face and shrugged.

★"WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN-"

★The reminder alone that Lottie was capable of being dangerous was a weird taste of reality. You knew she was a monster but... did you? It never fully processed in your mind. You knew she wouldn't hurt you though, so long as you were careful.

★Except you weren't careful, and you had accidentally made eye-contact with her. You were certain you would never experience something scarier.

★For what it's worth you had fought Endermen before, but something about seeing Lottie, a mob you were used to being completely peaceful, become totally hostile was absolutely terrifying.

★It happened because she jokingly took a tool you were using, and held it above your head so you couldn't reach it. You spun around too fast, looking up quickly without thinking about it.

★For a moment, all you could think about was how pretty her eyes were, until you watched her eyes go wide with shock. Her tail bristled up, and her jaw fell slack revealing sharp fangs you had never noticed until that point. Never noticed, likely for a good reason.

★Your hand instinctively rested on the hilt of your sword, but the moment you noticed her hands were shaking you knew you were screwed. You didn't even have your shield on you. Fuck.

★You did have something else in your inventory you could use. An enderpearl. You had acquired it a long time before you met Lottie, and you felt bad trying to get more since meeting her, so you had decided to save it for emergency. This seemed like as good of time as any to use it.

★Before you got a moment to calculate your throw and plan out your escape route, she lunged at you and caused you to fumble, tossing the pearl up and behind. Her claw grazed over your nose as you landed upside down in a tree branch.

★Endermen couldn't teleport up, and you were grateful for that. You decided you'd stay in the tree as long as you needed until she hopefully calmed the fuck down. That, unfortunately, didn't stop her from sitting at the base of the tree and staring at you from below, her tail flicking in anticipation.

★"Lottie I'm sorry!"

★"Ok-"

★You were in the tree for a while. You could see the sun peaking over the horizon when you heard her finally teleport away. You decided that was a good sign that you were safe as you slid out the tree.

In Defense Of Ceroba

Even though I'm still probably the biggest Starlo apologist you've seen, I wanna talk about Ceroba today. Particularly, my initial and current thoughts on her (but also why she works as a deeply flawed and tragic character).

Anyway, here we go.

Ceroba wasn't a character I liked at first. It wasn't dislike or hatred I felt for her, but rather... not much, if anything. She simply didn't catch my attention like Starlo did, with his larger-than-life personality. Ceroba wasn't like that. She wasn't in the spotlight, she seemed calm and level-headed, sarcastic and easily annoyed with the Five's nonsense, but also kinda just.... there, in contrast to the more 'cartoonish' Starlo.

Heck, I was so focused on NOT wanting to get to know and understand Ceroba that I payed little to no attention to her, even in the Steamworks, which was her section as well as Axis'. I completely forgot about the talk option too, so I missed on a lot during my first playthrough. I didn't even laugh at her sarcastic comebacks (that I find funny now, as you can see in my post titled 'Ceroba's sarcasm is growing on me').

And when I found out Ceroba injected Kanako... let's just say she became my least favorite character. I didn't understand why she had done it. It seemed like a poor writing choice not to have Kanako get her paws on the serum and inject herself. Ceroba actively going against her husband's last wish and being the cause of her kid falling down left a bad taste in my mouth.

Only later did I finally put the pieces together.

Ceroba was depressed. Like, really REALLY depressed. So depressed, in fact, that she became blunt with her choice of words when it came to the Starlo situation and unaware of his troubles/the fact he was trying to help her out of the rut. Ceroba was clearly way harsher towards him than she used to be before all the tragedy struck (but said she was sorry)

Starlo describes her as compassionate and hard-working (and they've been friends for a long time, so he must know). Or at least, that was who she was before all the sadness turned her into a shell of her former self.

Now, Chujin... oh, Chujin.

Chujin meant a lot to Ceroba and that is very clear. From her blindly following his legacy even after his death, to accepting to kill Clover (someone she had grown to respect) with tears in her eyes.

If you ask me, it wasn't Ceroba's cold, sarcastic, gloomy heart that destroyed her. Quite the opposite. It was love. More specifically, her love for Chujin.

I would, without an ounce of doubt, call this fox romantic and emotional. Someone who loves hard and deep. Someone who trusted him, her love, so blindly that she never suspected Chujin was up to anything suspicious. And when he was stripped away from her, it hurt so much. She even blamed herself for not noticing. It's sad.

So... why inject Kanako, something Chujin didn't want her to do? Simple. Because of her major character flaw: stubbornness.

See, Ceroba had refused at first. But the line that got her to change her mind was this:

Ceroba, still in emotional distress and not thinking clearly (much like Starlo), trusted her heart and not her head. And her heart was telling her that Chujin, wherever his soul was, would be proud of her for fulfilling his dream. Making his legacy come true. Saving monsterkind was a bonus, but I believe the main, true motivation here was honoring Chujin and what he wanted to accomplish for monsterkind. And so, instead of focusing on remaining a good parent to her only child, Ceroba chose her husband. She chose something greater that he believed in.

Ceroba loves Kanako, don't get me wrong. She remembers how Kanako and Starlo would watch westerns together, how Kanako would play with brick toys when she was younger, she says how her love for her could be enough to shatter the barrier. She'd tuck her in every night. She promised she'd be safe during the extraction. The two hugged tight and said 'I love you.' All signs point towards Kanako receiving a lot of love from her mother. She even made a drawing of the three of them, and this picture on the right says it all:

Chujin, too, loved his daughter, and I believe this love for her was more prominent before the attack (he even gave her the chance to play video games in her room, how cool is that?). He, too, like Ceroba, prioritzed the wrong things. Instead of making sure Kanako was alright, he made Axis chase after the human and didn't stay to comfort her. He was so focused on the prejudice towards humans (he believed Integrity would have 'continued the crusade' and it hadn't just been fear or self-defense that made them attack) that he forgot that the safety of his child and helping Dalv was far more important.

But Chujin... Ceroba can't even look at her own daughter without being reminded of him:

Even though Ceroba messed up badly by injecting Kanako, not paying more attention to what Chujin had been doing, manipulating Clover and the Feisty Five, wanting to kill Clover so she'd save Kanako and monsterkind (notice how she is so blinded that, even as she talks about Kanako, it seems like she sees her as a tool for finishing what Chujin wanted, ACCORDING TO CEROBA. In reality, the man just wanted Kanako to be happy and for her to stay out of all this),

and almost killing Starlo and Martlet, she acknowledged her situation and later admitted that she was wrong. The reason Clover hugged her and forgave her easily was because Clover is like that. Completely altruistic. Starlo and Martlet are sweethearts, too. All three have good hearts and lots of empathy and understanding. And, me, personally? Instead of it putting me off...

...I find it admirable.

Sometimes I think about my anxiety and how much of it is fueled by memory problems- which is why the shit with the photo studio really pissed me off: I was making every best effort to make sure I remembered things properly and writing things down so that I wouldn't forget- only to be told that I had been doing it wrong the entire time, go back to my notes and find out that my notes were incorrect, bring up that my notes indicate something different, to be told 'I never said that.' So you can see why this would throw me into a rage. And also 'I forgot' is a phrase that often throws bosses into their own blind rage, so I have a tendency to fret about forgetting.

BUT I DIGRESS!!!!

Having garbage memory and sometimes misunderstanding what people mean often gets me into trouble, so I make Very. Pointed. Efforts. to make sure I'm understanding things correctly and that they are written down and scheduled and bullet listed.

Which is why all the pride planning is driving me crazy. Because a lot of the stuff has already been done. Which means I don't need to do anything.

But I HAVE THE FEELING THAT I'M FORGETTING SOMETHING!

Because I spent the first 30 years of my life trying to navigate a world that is unkind to people with shit memory. So its in my head that this should be harder because everything always is. There's always something to forget.

...but if I'm forgetting something, the other people on the committee will probably double check it because they were here last year and they've already done this.

But yeah I just find Caleb showing up to haunt Belos’s ass at random points and judging every life decision he’s making, so then every time Belos has to miserably fail to try to justify everything he’s done ever to (quite literally) dead silent Caleb is kinda funny in a morbid way

This time he is showing off and brings up his two grimwalkers that have lasted the longest beating his record of two years as an example of a good life decision as well as proving that he totally doesn’t need therapy

Ngl I feel bad for Pip as the poor guy just wanted to nap and got picked up just for Belos to prove a point but he stayed asleep through all of it tho

Btw Caleb is trying so hard not to loose his shit just because there’s youngins there and he doesn’t want to wake up Pip by making Belos pissed off so he’s going to stand there in silence even more menacingly and judgemental

I like the idea that despite the weird as fuck origins of Pip and Hunter, Caleb still sees them as his nephews and likes to check up on them every once in a while when he’s not haunting Belos, Caleb checks on Hunter the most because he’s constantly in dangerous situations even inside the castle so it helps Hunter a lot to have Caleb staring daggers at Belos whenever he gets violent towards Hunter because it usually stops him

On the other hand Caleb does like checking on Pip because it’s nice seeing a version of what could have been if Philip had learnt to accept the boiling isles :( also I can imagine it’s nice seeing your great x(insert number) granddaughter continue your wife’s tradition of being a menace to a stuck up society and teaching those ways to your weird mini brother/ nephew.

also fun fact Hooty can see Caleb (don’t ask how) and greatly enjoys chatting to him as Caleb was the one who managed to convince Eve to let hooty stay in their house’s door as a “guard” but really Caleb just felt bad for the wee bug demon as hooty didn’t have a home at the time and thought so he would be a fun addition to the family hence why alongside Lilith, Caleb was one of Hooty’s favourite people

btw nobody really cares or finds it unusual for hooty to just be talking to himself so not one single person has asked about it lmao

Almost forgot to mention but this is actually still a weird memory that Hunter remembers and used to wonder why on the boiling isles did Belos have those random fits of “hallucinations” until he talked about it with Pip.

Pip was just causally like “wait you couldn’t see him?” And walked off… Hunter has never found out or gotten a clear answer if Pip was actually joking or if he could straight up see dead people, Pip refuses to reveal the real answer because he finds Hunter being confused as fuck hilarious

Also if your wondering why Belos doesn’t have the cool mechanical prosthetic staff arm, he usually hides it with a glove :p (this is because a) I’m too lazy to draw such a detailed prosthetic all the time and b) I doubt Belos would like people to know he’s missing an arm as I doubt he would like the idea of seeming “weak” because in his day this would essentially be a death sentence either due to infection or being classed as less than due to not being able to work properly)

Been seeing a lot of discussion on rgu and race(and racism) recently which I think it's great. I plan to do a coherent little analisys on it some (not near) time, but for now, there's this thing that has been on my brain since my first watch;

About Akio, that has all control overs Ohtori being a brown man, and Anthy being the sufferer of all oppression not only for being a girl, but also clearly different in the academy for being brown (suffering with what can really be interpreted as racism, because of the constant sexualization, objectification and villifying of her). It's a contrast between the two siblings that has to do i'd say with the inherent links of types of prejudice: misoginy, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism go ideologically and systemically hand in hand.

Anthy is a brown girl that endured the thousand swords of humanitys hatred, prejudice. She carries with herself the open wound of all the girls under patriarchy, but not just this, she is vulnerable. A trafficked brown queer teenage girl victim of systemical abuse. And although the anime 'focus' its themes on gender, still, we can clearly pick up on multiple adding interpretations of Anthy as the representation of girls of marginalized groups.

Akio is not vulnerable, as he is an adult, an authority figure, the patriarch (and almost its god, when he paints himself as Dios) of ohtoris system, the academys Headmaster. But he is a brown man that, as we know, is also a marginalized group. And Akio, although his positions as both teorically Dios and symbolically Lucifer, is also inserted in his own system. He is not the owner of Ohtori, and pardon me if I mix up the titles and positions names i'm vry tired, he's being a substitute to the actual guy, Kanaes father. So, even in this position so high of authority, we can see that even he has to play his own game and fall beneath someone with more power than him. Because that's how hierarchies and patriarchy works. And it makes me remember of when we see his and Anthys backstories:

So now, the part I've been thinking about since ever:

The place where Anthy and Akio stay is a wooden cabin with hay, which is similar to the ones that were built in america in the beggining of colonization. I apologize deeply, but I forgot about the name of the structure and the name of the article that discussed Anthy being brown, but I'll link it if I find it again. Anthy wears this very humble red cloth, that is indubtly more simple than Dios and the peoples clothing. It shows the beggining of ostracization. Dios clothing is white and similar to a tuxedo like the crowd is wearing, and anthys is red just like the rosebride dress.

For me, that seems to show us how the man and woman gender hierarchy is a colonizer idea.

Anthy dresses in a piece of cloth of the same colour of her bridal dress, because her as a brown girl is not a princess, not worth of value, a witch, and only valuable as an man serving object. And Akio, being now categorized as a man, even though he'a a child, dresses in a white tuxedo similar to the ones worn by grooms. He's higher in the hierarchy, but still used. And when Anthy helps her brother herself, despite being the lowest in the worlds hierarchy, the crowd attacks her and it consolidates the system that Akio knows dives fully into, as the master, but also not unharmed; at least from when he was a kid.

I think I've already said this once before but I really wish there was a feature in Wizard101 where important events, lore, and dialogue in the game were documented somewhere so we can view them whenever we want. like unless we video record the events while it happens, take pictures, or just go through the whole entire fucking plot with another wizard character there's no way to ever revisit those moments and that SUCKS??????? like wizard101 has some of the best lore ive ever seen and I don't wanna have to level up my wizard all the way to level 100 just to see that iconic grandfather spider scene or grind through azteca just to find that one epic fourth wall breaking moment 💀 i want to revisit all the incredible and funny and weird shit we've all gone through Immediately. Like damn remodel the library so that it actually keeps records and dated films of the things we've gone through so it can actually be useful instead of it being Just A Building (rants about this for so long that even Jesus smacks His lips)
