Every otaku producer on any at least decently-sized project is chained to very BIG MONEY merch contracts. Merch sales are one of the biggest cogs making the anime industry run and because of that, merch manufacturers expect producers not to allow anything that would make their products fail to reflect the contents of the show.
A recent example that sparked controversy about this is the new Tokyo Mew Mew reboot anime. Mew Mew is a series where pretty much everyone important has food names, but the early scanlators failed to notice how far this motif extended and rendered Quiche's name as Kisshu. This is spread in the fandom enough to make merch makers assume that was the proper way to spell his name in English and produce pins with the name Kisshu written in Roman letters. Thanks to that, over a decade later, the Mew Mew translator on Crunchyroll subs is forced to use Kisshu on her script despite knowing it's wrong.
But this is a Type-Moon post, so let's talk about Type-Moon instead. On October 29th, 2010, Nasu released Fate/complete material III, containing profiles for all Servants featured in Fate/stay Night. In his lack of English knowledge, he most likely relied on Google to learn how to romanize all those names. This generated two curious results: Arthuria was rendered as Altria, as the first search result for アルトリア would be the cigarette corporation, and Rider favored the French spelling Medousa over the English Medusa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flash forward to May 25th, 2016. At this year, Fate/Grand Order had already been released and proved itself a commercial success against all odds. In celebration of that, FuRyu Corporation sculpted the source of all evil.
Tumblr media
FuRyu's figure utilized the erroneous "Altria" from Complete Material III. Here is where I want you to notice that FuRyu did not release a Medusa figure alongside it. "Altria Pendragon" is the only character in this collection.
Our next chronological stop is August 14, 2016. Merely 3 months after the FuRyu Altria figure began to spread its corruption through all we know and love. That's the day Fate/Grand Order Material I came out, containing profiles for Saber Arthuria and Medusa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see in the right corner, Medousa is no more. Due to having 6 more years to learn things and no merch contract forever chaining him to his spelling mistake, Nasu had the opportunity to correct Medusa's name, which also settled it as the name FGO NA legally had to go with.
So when I say FGO NA translators went with Tam Lin because it's literally illegal not to do so, I am talking about

"But no new content 😭!!" that means jack shit. We have several literal decades worth of content we can watch or rewatch. The writers and now the actors too are not only fighting for their livelihoods but for the futures and the soul of their industries.
Fuck new content, fuck the executives and producers and powers that be who make millions upon millions while the people, who create the content that make them rich, can barely make ends meet.
Here's some suggestions to anyone who doesn't know what to watch;
Nostalgia rewatch; watch old favourites, shows and movies you haven't seen in years but that stayed with you, the ones that mattered to you.
Watch the shows your parents didn't let you watch growing up because they thought the show was "too mature" for you.
Watch the shows and movies people have recommended to you that you never found time for before.
Watch indie films!!!
Look at different genres than what you've watched before and give them a go.
Try films and shows from other countries and/or in other languages. There's dubs and subtitles available and these shows and movies can be just as good if not better than their American and/or English speaking counterpart.
And remember when watching shows, that you do not have to binge them all at once, you can have your own personal tv schedule and watch say an episode a week like you would've done when/if they aired before streaming
Look at some older films and shows, why does it matter if it's in black and white or the camera quality is lower than 4k and hd, so long as it's good? And so many of those shows and films, while not perfect, have aged better than shows that have come out in the last decade, like the golden girls for instance has aged so much better than say glee (ok many many many shows aged better than glee but let's be real for a second, music was better when artists were terrified of the Glee cast doing a better version of their song on the show. I do still wish it was a show my mom didn't let me watch tho, lmao glee was fine but no, her twelve year old being obsessed with Les mis and rewatching it religiously was cause for concern 😂😭 I was just as obsessed with glee for seasons 1-4 especially).
It's ok to indulge your inner child and rewatch the classics tm. The shows and movies you grew up with. Rewatch the shows that got you through sick days from school, the tv movies you remember watching premiere, the cartoons that MADE your Saturday mornings, etc.
On the topic of animation, that's literally an unlimited genre you can tap into, which rarely gets the recognition and respect it deserves.
Don't be afraid to watch the one season wonders, the shows that networks and streamers cancelled after one season in spite of strong reviews and good ratings. Or the shows that ended abruptly around the season 3 or 5 mark because networks and streamers cancelled them because they didn't want to negotiate contracts and have to pay the actors and writers more. Get angry, remember what the actors and writers are fighting for.
The privilege of older shows that either concluded naturally or that writers were given a heads up on might be on it's last season is that you get closure, unlike with the above. That might not mean an ending is good but a bad ending is better than a cliffhanger. There's always fix its fics for a bad ending. And if the ending is good, it's typically GOOD in my experience. The fear of a cliffhanger and zero closure has already turned many against watching new content until the show is renewed for another season or is fully wrapped (and fans don't hate the ending).
Watch the shows that were in their day or are popular or critically acclaimed, they usually hold up to the hype.
Watch the old shows and movies your favs were on/in before they were your favs.
Try a soap or a telenovela, they can be entertaining af (holby city my love, Tuesdays have never been the same since the BBC robbed me of you).
If you liked a reboot or a revival of a show, try the original (in certain cases, the og is even better, see boy meets world v girl meets world).
If you like period dramas, try shows and films from other countries based on their history. A lot of times when people are telling their own history it goes far better than when Hollywood tries it (see the many times Hollywood has actors brought in because producers think they're good for box office and they then go on to butcher the accent their character should have, see Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and so many others who have absolutely butchered the Irish accent over the years for instance. There's also many many instances even recently of just blatant whitewashing see Matt Damon as the last samurai...).
Listen to recommendations, watch the shows and movies you know your family and friends loved but you never got around to watching.

STOP SHARING THIS TWEET.
This is 99.99% likely to be fake. As someone who works in the anime industry, let me tell you why.
Tumblr media
This has been sent to me dozens of times over the past few days, and it's pretty obvious to me that it's fake.
I work in the anime industry. Here's why I don't put any stock in this "official" announcement at all.
1. THE 'SOURCE' IS A TOTAL RANDO
The source is a random Twitter/X account. It isn't a studio or licensor. It's not even one of the "reputable" leakers. It's just some random person making a claim with zero backing and slapping the words "official" and "confirmed" on it.
Accurate leaks have happened, but they're usually accompanied by some kind of source claim (a leaked press release, a leak within the company, etc.) and a claim that an announcement is coming soon. This has nothing. This is just a random person saying shit for clicks.
Every one of their posts has "FOLLOW FORE MORE" in a subtweet. They're just farming for followers. The rest of the account is just random anime edits and posts + promotions for a discord they run.
I could literally write anything in a tweet and slap "OFFICIAL, CONFIRMED" on it, but if you see those words, you need to be asking, "Who confirmed it? What makes this official?" And in this case, it's NOTHING and NOBODY in the world of anime.
Media literacy, folks. It applies to Twitter/X. It ESPECIALLY applies to Twitter/X.
2. THIS 'SOURCE' DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE ANIME INDUSTRY
"Studio has not been announced" is a WILD thing to suggest here, because YYH's rights are LITERALLY OWNED BY AN ANIME STUDIO. Studio Pierrot is still a license-holder for this IP, and it would be weird as hell for them to not handle a remake.
(Also, "studio not announced"... NOTHING has been announced. The wording here is very sneaky, as it implies an announcement was made but the studio was just left out of it. If an announcement had been made, it would be Pierrot/the studio/Shueisha doing it.)
Not only has Pierrot made animated content for the series as recently as the 2018 OVAs, their copyright info is on literally every piece of YYH merch being produced this year (alongside Shueisha and Togashi). They still have some rights. They (in part) hold the IP. They still make art for it. They will be the studio for any remake unless they willingly let go of that license. Considering they're still making money off of it through merch sales and the liveaction adaptation (tho that's another can of licensing worms we could discuss), that's highly, HIGHLY unlikely.
The likelihood of Pierrot letting some other studio handle the remake is very, VERY slim. It's one of their hallmark, legendary series. Why would they ever let that go to a competitor?
The "studio hasn't been confirmed" bit tells me this person doesn't know who actually owns the rights to YYH, and when they don't even know that basic piece of information, it puts everything else they say into question.
3. THE TIMING IS SUSPICIOUS
Anime series are in production long before they air. How long in advance depends on the project. You can't keep a lid on a high profile project for an extended period. For big projects, studios want to start the hype train sooner rather than later. (Obviously there are exceptions to this (see the Fruits Basket remake) but we'll get to that later.)
This tweet claims the project is coming out in 2024. We are at the VERY TAIL END of 2023. It is basically 2024 already. That tweet isn't an official announcement (despite the word "official" on it), which means the studio/license holder would have to announce it even LATER than this tweet did. The latest anime seasonals begin airing in Q4/October/the Fall Simulcast season. That gives Pierrot less than a year of lead-up time to market the anime before its latest possible air date in 2024, and for this particular property, that does not seem realistic OR wise.
Let's examine Pierrot's recent treatment of the latest Bleach installment as evidence. They announced the project in March 2020 via a livestream event. They began airing the project in October 2022, MORE THAN TWO YEARS LATER. That gave them two years to market the series.
YYH, like Bleach, is one of Pierrot's hallmarks. The idea that they'd give it less than a year of marketing is just not realistic. They'd likely give it the same kind of treatment as the new Bleach arc, given it's one of their past tentpole titles getting revived.
(Also note that Pierrot animated the new Bleach installments after years of no new Bleach. They didn't let go of those rights. They held on and made more content later. Now apply that logic to YYH, and arrive again at: To suggest another studio would handle a new series is farfetched.)
If the tweet had said the series was dropping in 2025 or later, it would be much more believable. But the details they gave, again, discredit their claims from the jump.
If a new YYH was coming out in 2024, btw, the series would already be well underway and likely have been in production behind the scenes for quite some time. They probably would've announced it last year if they intended a 2024 release.
4. THE LIVEACTION OF IT ALL
A liveaction adaptation for YYH is about to drop (December 14 on Netflix).
I can already hear the argument of, "Oh, well maybe they'll announce a new anime for 2024 when the liveaction comes out," and while that might be a possibility, I think there's another, far more likely alternative.
If the liveaction does well and the license holders make a fuckton of money on it, or if they at least see a large resurgence in interest in the IP, THEN I think the license holders/anime production committee would start thinking about a new anime adaptation to cash in on that interest. But I do not see them making that decision before the streaming numbers for the liveaction come in, and I do NOT see them working on the anime before the liveaction has even aired.
The anime world moves slowly. The execs and committees behind the scenes like numbers and sales figures. If they see good numbers, balls might start rolling. But it's unlikely they're already in production NOW, let alone far enough into production to support a 2024 release for a remake.
If the Netflix show gets the ball rolling on a new YYH anime, that anime won't come out in 2024. There just isn't time.
And I can now hear some muttering the argument of, "Oh, well they probably just held the news to time it with the liveaction," but see again their habit of announcing projects with lots of lead-up marketing time.
CONCLUSION: THIS SEEMS FAKE.
BUT...
Given the details above and the COMPLETE LACK OF EVIDENCE supplied by the tweet, I do not expect we'll get an ACTUAL "official, confirmed" announcement for a remake anytime soon.
In the event that I'm wrong, what I'd predict is the announcement of a remake (one made by ACTUAL official sources, AKA Pierrot and Shuiesha) sometime in Q1 or Q2 2024. Pierrot would be the studio, and the project would be slated for late 2025, or even more likely, sometime in 2026. (And yes, projects slated for 2026 and later are in the works right now.)
I think the above is a longshot, but it's possible. The timing suggested in the tweet everyone is sharing isn't realistic at all, however.
Long story short:
DO NOT TRUST RANDOM TWITTER ACCOUNTS.
ANYONE CAN SAY "OFFICIAL" or "CONFIRMED"
THE ONLY OFFICIAL SOURCES FOR ANIME NEWS ARE STUDIOS AND LICENSORS
QUESTION EVERYTHING

What fans say:
Beauty and the Beast:
This is the only animated film ever to be nominated for regular best-picture*. It literally is responsible for the creation of the best-animated-feature category. It was Howard Ashman’s last work and his biggest passion project, and I would argue that there’s a strong reading of the film as a metaphor about the stigma and shame of aides and Visual Queerness that Ashman was experiencing at the time. It’s also one of the best works of hand animation that’s ever been committed to film before or since. In the ballroom scene you can watch the dynamic camera angles they move through and the way that all those ruffles on Bell’s dress swirl so perfectly and naturally. That shit is so complicated, most animators wouldn’t even bother, but it was all hand-drawn(!!), cell-by-cell by James Baxter, yet another absolute titan of the industry that had his hands on this film.**
Soundtrack fucks and the animation pussy is poppin
*Mod note: it was the first but two others have been nominated since (Up and Toy Story 3)
**Mod note 2: I'm leaving the videos for next round, but because submitter wrote so much about the scene, I'll leave the link here
The Prince of Egypt:
First of all, don't let the fact that it's a religious film put you off, because there is SO much to love about it. Gorgeous animation? Check. Amazing soundtrack (composed by Hans Zimmer)? Check. Wonderful scene composition? Check. A compelling take on the classic religious story that does much to humanize and expound on the characters in a way that brings them to life? Check. Powerful scenes that will take your breath away and can be appreciated regardless of whether you're religious or not? Check. Dreamworks' passion project at the time with a lot of obvious effort and love poured into it through all stages of the production process? Check. The Prince of Egypt has done so much to rewire the brains of 2-3 generations of children who grew up in religious families, myself included, and damn it all if it doesn't go hard with it. Vote for the Prince of Egypt.
The animation is GORGEOUS! The music is FANTASTIC! It makes you want to CRY!
The first time I watched it, the opening theme was playing ("Deliver Us") and I realized it was the first time I'd ever heard my culture's music in a major film. Also, the animation is simply beautiful.
It's a thoughtful adaptation of one of mankind's oldest stories. The music slaps.
The music? The script? The animation? Everything? How they blended the 2D and the CGI, how they animated the water and fire, the songs, the 3D sequence where Moses becomes a hieroglyphic carving on the wall, the imagery matching the gods invoked in "Playing with the big boys" sequence, the last plague being animated as mist that gets bigger the more lives it takes, how they managed to make the featureless desert SO pretty, the parting of the red sea animation that took 2 years to make (and looks amazing!), how it's a very respectful adaptation of (the first part of) the book of Exodus, how they managed to have ALL the people consulted for its religious importance agreed on at least one thing (Moses saving a random person rather than Miriam), Tzipporah (all of her), how Miriam has her timbrel on her last scene (and it's even Miriam's song playing!), how they researched how blood was slathered on the doorposts (hyssop) and how the script on the tablets for the 10 commandments would look, how it doesn't shy away from the blood and death. That part on the bridge of When you believe where the children start singing in Hebrew (Mi chamocha)? 11/10, no notes, fantastic, amazing, showstopper!
It's the only religious movie I've ever enjoyed. The creators consulted with multiple leaders of different religions to make sure it was as accurate and representative as possible
It's a well knwon classic that tells the story of the Exodus without being fucking boring and has legendary songs. Literally it's the Prince of Egypt. My favorite scene is the one where he parts the sea obv
The perfect storytelling structure, the voice acting, how you can tell what a character is thinking by their facial expressions alone (not everything must be said aloud), how very much HUMAN each character is, the use of color and lighting, the music and incredible lyrics, the style of animation...favorite scene impossible to choose! Yocheved's lullaby when she sets him adrift in a basket? When Moses meets Miriam again as adults, and she sings the lullaby, the same lullaby he always hums, triggering his memories and causing him to remember? The song Through Heaven's Eyes as he fits in with Tzipporah's people and falls in love with her? The PLAGUES?! Btw. This is based on the Exodus story with artistic liberation used to stay true to the message, but you can be of any faith (or lack of faith; I myself am agnostic) to enjoy the movie. In the end, it is simply a compelling ans human story.
That opening, god the song “deliver us” goes so hard it immediately hooked me. The scene of crossing the red sea is universally loved and iconic because of how beautiful it is but the rest of the movie goes so hard too, especially with the wall paintings depicting children being killed like.
I love the scene with the plagues song
Oh my god it's such a gorgeous film and a wonderful retelling oh my god and the music is also amazing
Banger music. Banger animation. Jewish. What can't she do? I feel so strongly about this.
Combined 2D animation with early 3D animation beautifully, and has an amazing soundtrack. Also the Plagues song slaps.

What do you think The Sims 4 should have been? How should they have looked? I see people say they have the best graphics in the series and damn, that's a slander. I think The Sims 4 should have been an evolution of The Sims 3 and instead it looks cartoony and the shadows don't even catch the sims. I even think The Sims 2 looks better than The Sims 4, I think the sims can look great with a lot of custom content but that's the only thing because the world looks so papery and so green. I'm asking you this because I think you're one of the most objective simmers right now and I think you really appreciate The Sims 3.
youtube
Objectively, this is what The Sims 4 should have been. A significant evolution of the 3, keeping everything the 3 brought, without the performance issues of that period. That at least was what I expected when the first image came out. It sold us mystery, it sold us the idea of interconnected narratives like in ts2, it sold us the idea of a game that would bring everything that was left out in ts3, but that was in 2!
It's very kind of you, thank you for seeing me that way. My take on Ts4 is that the game is in the condition it is in and part of that is the fault of the extremely "positivist" community. Who celebrates Patch who brings class to the kit, and is happy with considerably superficial and insignificant deliveries.
I've been playing The Sims for 19 years. I criticized The Sims 3 a lot in its time, for (compared to ts2) presenting sims so robotic and with "hard" animations. This has improved over time and HAPPY is fixable. My idealization is that I wouldn't complain about this in ts4, however, 4 went the complete opposite way, giving us goofy sims that look more like they were made for kids than adults. They are literally silly. There is no significant consequence, there is no risk.
What made Ts1, 2 and 3 special was not in 4. However, I cannot deny that The Sims 4 was perhaps one of the games that best managed to represent the original idea of The Sims: House Building Simulator. Houses and Sims. But that alone doesn't sustain what The Sims franchise has become. That goes far beyond these two concepts. By the way, it's not because the ts4's CAS is push and pull that it's the best. It's easier to work on sims in ts2 and 3 with sliders than in 4, especially if you decide to change "ethnic" traits. Since, if you choose the wrong eye, and spend two hours editing it, you'll have to start all over again on the next swatch (model) you choose.
The Sims 4 needs to end. But if it's approaching 10 years, the community is responsible for that. Every time someone annulled themselves, every time someone stopped criticizing, every time someone accepted it and thought it was normal, it corroborated for that. It is worth remembering that it took almost a "third war" on twitter, to give us more variation of skins. And I ask: Do we REALLY deserve to go through this? Should we really lower the bar to charge for essentials?
The Sims 4 is so popular for embracing diversity, but TS3 did it without show, and the mainstream media never applauded it for it. Why? Because he was performing a natural evolution, it was his destiny. In 4, however, it seems that they program evolutions, to be applauded, handing us first a piece of dry bread, then a nice sandwich and…: "Aren't you going to applaud us? We're doing everything you asked!" In exchange for what?
The Sims 4 didn't even have a family tree in the base game. This is a bad joke. To those offended, I can only apologize, I'm not talking about you, I'm giving my opinion about this generation of almost 10 years. As a longtime Simmer, I've never seen maxis deliver so little, charge so much and still be idolized for it. This was not the maxis that revolutionized the industry 20 years ago.
And Yes!! Nothing beats the sims 2 even today.
Tumblr media
In addition to having extremely malleable graphics that can look amazingly good 20 years later, it has the best lighting system in the entire franchise and the CRAZIEST sims (WHICH I LOVE)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the way, do the poles light up the roofs on the ts4 too? (I really have no idea)

1. Name an internet reference that always makes you laugh
oh I have S O MANY, but I think at the moment it’s that guy on TikTok and instagram reels who responds to that one really notorious conservative with FNAF lore. Like the og video will be something ridiculous like ‘if women get paid less, then why aren’t we only hiring women?’ And then the guy will stitch that video with ‘well you know who we SHOULDNT hire???? Freddy Fazbear’ and now whenever anyone’s says ‘Freddy Fivebears’ around me I just start sobbing
Either that or literally any notorious tumblr post like the three weed smoking girlfriends or the ball pit
2. Share some personal lore you’ve never shared before
I’ve seen a Boeing 747 crash on a runway, I got frostbite and almost had to amputate my foot on Mount Everest base camp and had to get emergency helicoptered out, I know how to fly a helicopter, my dad is friends with George Lucas, Sir Edmund Hillary (before he died) and Temuera Morrison, one of my primary school teachers was a very famous anime voice actor, I work in the animation industry (kinda I’m doing an apprenticeship) and I can speak three languages (English, Te Reo, and a little bit of Niuean).
3. Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
Almost EVERYTHING inspires what I create. I always believe in wearing your inspirations on your sleeve, so stuff like watching the Neverending Story and The Last Unicorn growing up to reading Don Quixote last year has left a permanent impact on what I create. And of course Resident Evil has been a driving motivation for everything I’ve been doing lately but that’s like. Duh WNAHDNDJDNDJMX

BIRDIE FUCKING WING
12 Days of Aniblogging 2022, Day 3
One thing you should know about me is that I fundamentally oppose golf. It’s an $85 billion industry built around land use as wasteful as lawns. It’s emblematic of the American country club elite who I so utterly detest. And if that weren’t bad enough, a golf tour bankrolled by the Saudi Arabian government with the intent of washing over their human rights abuses is gradually taking over the sport as we speak.
Despite everything, I wholeheartedly recommend Birdie Wing: Girl’s Golf Story.
Tumblr media
It’s simple: this show has as little respect for golf as I do. Our protagonist, a golf hustler named Eve with a mysterious past, treats the sport with rote mechanical precision, which in practice means she just hits the ball in a straight line with perfect precision every single time. She's broken the concept of golf and nobody can do anything about it. In her own words, “I don’t play golf. All I do is hit a ball with a stick to make money”. She's so stupid. This show is so stupid, in ways that you just don’t see these days. I’m told that the closest analogue is the girls-with-guns shows that Bee Train kept putting out in the 2000s.
Tumblr media
Eve's fashion in this show is impeccable, by the way
Your show can’t just be about a golf hustler destroying the will of professional players, though. That would get stale! So Birdie Wing makes the genius decision to introduce the fucking golf mafia. After the introductory episodes, Eve faces a roulette of increasingly depraved older women as she gets deeper in this seedy golf underworld that is treated with the perfect amount of seriousness for how conceptually hilarious it all is. Someone is assassinated with a rocket launcher. A person’s arm explodes from golfing too hard. It’s the most fun I’ve had with an anime seasonal in years.
Tumblr media
How the hell did this even get made? Original sports anime are quite rare, so I did a lot of digging as the first season was airing. It’s being produced by Bandai Namco’s in-house studio, which explains all the gunpla product placement and one of the coaches literally being named Amuro. But it’s also inexplicably being financed by HTC’s virtual reality division. According to the press releases, Birdie Wing has a “metaverse museum” and is intended to act as a gateway series to virtual reality. What the fuck?
I mean, there’s an episode where the two girls meet up in virtual reality to practice and make gay promises to each other while they’re on opposite sides of the world. But for the most part, the most obvious product placement in this show is all Bandai-Namco properties, not the metaverse or whatever. Knowing the circumstances of its financing, Birdie Wing should have just been a soulless cash-grab, which makes it all funnier that it’s made with such love. If this is what it takes to get screwball sports yuri produced these days, then so be it.
Tumblr media
It's clear that the VR bucks only go so far, as Birdie Wing definitely cuts some corners on the production side of things. But the animation hits when it needs to, and the character designs are consistently great. We even get some Dezaki-style watercolor freezeframes, as an homage to his classic kinda-gay sports anime Aim for the Ace. Eve’s rival Aoi is frequently drawn and animated notably better than the other characters. It’s probably reflecting her elegance and formal golf instruction in contrast to Eve’s rough background, but I like to believe that someone on the animation team just had a waifu.
Tumblr media
BUT IS IT YURI??? Well, they're clearly gay but as of right now it seems like Eve's kind of leading Aoi on, so you could argue either way. But for once, I don’t really care about the specifics. I know it when I see it. Even if Eve and Aoi never have a formal confession scene, their action speak louder than words. And since this is Birdie Wing, the actions are all as ridiculous as “hitting a golf ball so hard that the other person can see it from their plane taking off” and “promising to pierce her through with your golf swing”. The writing is brazenly pornographic at times, which is not a surprise considering some of scriptwriter Yosuke Kuroda’s past works. It’s a good fit for the lesbian sleaze this show is going for, because it’s played for camp more than anything.
Tumblr media
When Eve and Aoi eventually reunite and end up in a Japanese boarding school to train for a tournament arc, you’d think the more grounded setting would weaken the show. And while it’s true that the mafia stuff is ultimately more fun, they turn up the emotional intensity here, with Eve becoming even more of a lesbian chad than she was up until now. The melodrama here feels very Class-S, which is always a welcome pastiche.
The first season of Birdie Wing finishes right in the middle of setting up a new arc, and I was terrified it wouldn’t see any continuation. But evidentially word-of-mouth helped this show out a lot, or maybe HTC just has a deep well of funding to pull from, because a second season was confirmed right before the last episode aired. It’s since been delayed a few months, so we’re going to have to sit tight until April, but I for one can’t wait to return to the world of batshit golf lesbians.
Tumblr media
Also, it’ll be airing in the same season as Mobile Suit Gundam: the Witch from Mercury, another Bandai-Namco series that’s gotten a lot of attention for its central lesbian relationship. Now that’s what we call brand synergy.

Saw a video and it got me in a mood so i'm making this post.
I don't think people who have never been fat knows how fucking hard it is to find clothing for bigger bodies.
The first issue is finding stuff in your actual size. Because time after time after time and time again I've gone to a store and they only had small and medium sizes. Not even large. And this was not for a few clothes, no. It was for MOST clothes that I found interesting. And then the ones that were marked as large were simply not big enough.
And I know that the reason for that is that brands simply won't make clothes for fat people. It's that because it surely isn't because the large size is selling out fast. They just don't do it. And some people have the nerve to say 'well brands are not obligated to make sizes for everyone' yeah sure, but also, I can't walk naked on the street can I?
Like I don't get it. 'oh but we want our clothes to fit a especific body' so fucking make clothes that are supposed to fit bigger bodies. Doesn't have a to be a whole ass collection.
And then we get on the second problem which is making clothes for plus size people that are ugly as hell. It's always the same stuff: ugly florals, animal print that belongs in another decade, cold shoulders, that weird extra fabric at the end of a shirt to hide the belly, or just black/muted colors.
Like fun fact. If you have big boobs, the hardest thing in the world is trying to find a bra that comes in a color that isn't white, black or beige. Because trust me, I've spent 3 hours walking in the shopping mall and I couldn't find anything that fit my breasts that was like pink (and in that situation I needed a pink bra for a play).
It feels like most clothes made for plus sized people are designed with like 50+ year old white women in mind, and not even that demographic of people are wearing those clothes (my mom is a plus sized 50+ year old white woman and often talks about how ugly some clothes made for people her size are).
It's hard trying to develop your own sense of style when none of the clothes around you are in your size, and when they do, they are just not good looking to you.
But you wanna know what's the down right worst part? Do you know what fucking brand has clothes that look good and are amde for bigger bodies?
The goddamn cancer on this earth that is Shein.
I fucking hate shein. Fast fashion is killin the fashion industry, they literally have people working as slaves and many influecers buy shein clothes by the bulk only to then throw it in the trash. Shein is awful.
But. Unfortunetly, shein is the only place that I found that had clothes that fit me and looked good. I don't like that. I avoided buying from shein for the longest time ever, but jesus christ, when you can't find clothes anywhere else you get desperate.
I tried looking for other places. I tried looking at my local clothing stores and everything was too small for me. I tried looking at online small bussinesses but they either didn't make my size, or it was sold out, or the prices were very high. Tried looking at thrift stores, also didn't find my size.
I try not to buy too much from shein or to spend long periods of time in between buying, because again, I feel bad about buying there. I don't want to buy from there.
Clothing brands/stores gotta do better. And I don't think that's asking for too much.

Hollow Knight Resurrected really helped me get out of a massive writing slump when it started releasing, and has since been a huge boost of inspiration for the past couple of years. This series has been nothing but a lot of fun to watch, and I've enjoyed it alongside your analyses as well (especially the Ori ones, those are a riot).
That being said, which episode would you say you're the most proud of script-wise? And how long did you initially plan HKR to be early on? Did anything deviate from your initial ideas?
Absolutely love hearing this! I'm real glad I could make something that could inspire someone else's writing! Like, it's shocking to me! And I'm sorry for the lack of updates. My entire life kinda imploded last year and I've been trying to put it back together. But I do intend to finish this thing (I've also been learning how to animate in blender which is a huuuuuge door opener that kind of allows me to do literally anything, including a few scenes that I just had no idea how I was gonna do.) So as far as script-wise, Absolutely gotta be the Grimm special. A lot of the episodes have Charlie just walking around and most of those bits are just jokes that came to my brain while either playing to get the footage, or while I'm looking at it on a timeline. Whereas most of the dialogue bits are the ones I write. The Grimm Special, is mostly dialogue. So that *entire thing* was script, which I hadn't done before, and on top of that it was enough script to fill almost 90 minutes! There's also just a lot going on, particularly w/regaurd to generational differences and how each of the Troupe deals with Grimms Plan and how it absolutely isn't going to pan out. And it changed pretty quickly from early on just because I didn't have a hellova lot of initial ideas. Like the first time charlie mentions getting to "The Bottom" is in like the 3rd episode. I didn't think to give the boy a goal until halfway through editing that one lmao. Most everything else has gone according to plan. Biggest surprise was actually the Grimm episode because until a month before I made it I had no fuckin' clue what to do with Grimm and His Boys until I remembered a throwaway line I gave to cloth about the "Iridescent Neo-streetfighting movement" (A play on the Italian Neo-realist movement. Because all of the fighting history is just simplified film history I put new words on top of And was like "You know, I could just take that and make that Grimms Circus act... But if that's the case... well so after that the big thing the Italian Film Industry got into was Spagetti Westerns, and then a little later Giallo so... Oh fuck Rodeos and Giallo is just The Weird Bloody Fighting Grimm Does for An Audience" And went from there. But aside from that there hasn't honestly been a tone of deviation from the original ideas I'd set in place since episode 3. Mostly I've just added bits and pieces here and there. Exept for maybe a lot of Hornet's stuff. This was meant to be a quick, few episode series as a prelude to the Silksong Videos i was Bound to have been finished with by now lmaaaaaaao Some stuff in particular was this idea that Hornets deal is that she can essentially See the internal song of someone, and that was going to be, like, a huge combat thing. Similar to how Charlie keeps changing his name, Hornet would keep trying to find a different song. Bringing back the My Body Is A Cage meme, and eventually having it switch to Swimmers by Zero 7 as she realizes she found her home and is ready to move on from Hallownest. I was going to make the Silksong videos the First Series Like This I did. But it's taking it's time and so am I so I s'pose I can't complain. Swear I'm the only human being on the planet who wipes a little sweat off my brow every time we *don't* get a release date. It's like "OH THERE'S STILL TIME FOR ME TO FINISH MY THING!"

1) fetuses are not conscious of their experience or their 'selves', they are essentially in a state of unconsciousness until healthy birth, with semi-conscious experience, as if feeling or hearing while asleep, appearing in the last months. They are 'alive' in the way that all cells are alive, and their consciousness never develops beyond that of a sleeping person until birth.
[cont.] 2) is it okay to sell an infant for sex, compared to killing a fetus for money? Well, the reasoning for performing an abortion isn't for money as much as any other medically necessary procedure can be 'for money'. And I wouldn't consider it 'killing' in the sense of murder, it's 'killing' in the sense of killing part of a living being, or killing an unconscious organism, because it isn't conscious or independent of the mother. To sell a living, conscious person for sex would be evil, but again, fetuses are not conscious or people. 3) a fetus is actively in the process of becoming a person. Is a fetus the same person as she will be as an adult? You could say the same about sperm and eggs. Both have the function of potentially becoming a person, but aren't. You could take the exact sperm and egg, unfertilised, that would become you, which, left to its own devices, would fertilise, but that would not be a person. What's so special specifically about fertilisation that makes it 'you'? What you share is DNA, the same as any other cell in your body, billions of which die all the time. Also, you could say that the fetus itsself is not 'actively' becoming a person, because the growth and development are reliant on the mother. 4) it is extremely unlikely that any scientific evidence would come forward to make a fetus fit the definition for 'human being', in a way that killing a fetus would be murder. 5) The violence we use on fetuses is used on living beings all the time, to amputate or remove parts of the body. It's also used on living unconscious organisms such as plants, fungi, and animals when it is done for good reason, eg. removing a parasite. 6) the arguments and 'belief' that a fetus is not a person is solid enough to be considered fact, just as anything else non-person is not a person. A person is defined as a 'human being regarded as individual', and a fetus is not 'individual', being directly connected to and reliant on the mother, and also not a 'human being', the definition being a man, woman or child.
For context, this is a response to my comic post "Six Illustrated Responses to “A Fetus Isn’t a Person”", which has also been published as an article on Secular Pro-Life's blog.
@poofem I see you took a good-faith whack at a fetal non-personhood argument and you deserve a fair response.
1) Well, if consciousness is a red herring, then it doesn't matter if fetuses experience a "self" or not (although I would say they do, you can read my take on the theory of enselfment.) Human organisms are definitely alive in a very different way than ALL human cells are alive; not every cell is an organism. Human cells do not follow an integrated body plan as human organisms do; they do NOT develop, which is one of the 7 characteristics of life according to NASA.
A clump of human cells forming a tissue is alive but is not a life form. Human zygotes, embryos, and fetuses (ZEFs) ARE life forms. They have organic unity and are whole organisms, while cells are only parts of organisms. ZEFs are not missing any parts; they have all the parts and abilities appropriate for their development. Defining them as non-people because of their age and ability is ageist and ableist.
2) "the reasoning for performing an abortion isn't for money" babe the abortion industry literally makes over a billion dollars a year and most people cite economic concerns as a reason they procured an abortion lmao it's absolutely about money. So would you fuck a living fetus or not? Would you use THIS fetus for sex?
3) Actually you can't say the same about sperm and eggs, so it's clear you've completely misunderstood the argument. I've written about this common misconception in detail. While a gamete is merely a part of a rational being, a ZEF is a whole rational individual because they are a member of humankind, and they are unified by the same life processes over time and space with the capable person they will become. Their biological kind inherently defines their rational nature. This means they are in active relation with our collective humanity.
It's not just their shared DNA or common body that is coherent; it is their dialectical process of ongoing actualization that dynamically integrates them. Ergo the fetus and the human in their prime are the selfsame being, but contingently incapable. In other words, a ZEF is continuous physically by development and metaphysically by active relation with the person they will later manifest, so they already are that person latently. It's wrong to define a human as less than a person just because of their current circumstance.
Also, fetal development is self-propelled, not reliant on the mother. The fetus relies on the mother for sustenance and protection, not to grow and follow a body plan. You really need to read some of biologist Maureen Condic's work because the claims you are making are scientifically false. Here's an embryo moving at 9 weeks.
4) Personhood is a philosophical concept, not a scientific one. We must DISCERN personhood from the nature of the being in question; when we DEFINE personhood for ourselves, we veer into eugenics. You've decided for yourself that the definition of a person is a conscious human being (you've also decided for some erroneous reason that you have the authority to define what morally significant consciousness is), which means humans in permanently vegetative states aren't people either and are disposable.
That includes my godbrother, who had Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome and never developed consciousness "beyond that of a sleeping person". You're telling me that it would have been alright to kill him because he was powerless to define and defend himself. Wtf.
5) I'm not sure what you're getting at here, are you saying a fetus is a part of the mother's body that can be amputated or like a plant that can be harvested? While those are both complete misrepresentations of what a fetus is (I think you might be thinking of a blastocyst), I'm pretty sure we don't crush the skulls of puppies while they're alive. Here's real footage of an abortion.
6) Wait... so you're saying a fetus isn't a person because fetuses are non-persons and fetuses are non-persons because they are a fetus, therefore a fetus is not a person. You do realize that's circular reasoning, right?
*I* regard a fetus as an individual and a child, so by your definition, fetuses must be people. It's not a problem with fetuses that you don't relate to them; that is a problem with YOU and your unwillingness to open your mind to the plight of the preborn and solidarity with the most vulnerable members of the human family.
You are afraid to acknowledge their humanity because you are unwilling to soften your heart. When we act from a place of fear rather than love, we lose our own humanity. I'm willing to sacrifice my reputation and freedom out of love for the preborn and loyalty to their parents. I defend them to keep my heart soft and humane.
Personhood is ultimately a sociolegal construct used to sanction discriminatory violence, much like gender. Abortion is not compatible with equality. It is abuse of the powerless by the powerful.
You're falling for the trap of neoliberalism and insisting that two beings must function as individuals rather than a collective. A mother and her child, from fertilization to late infancy, function as an individual collective, and that's not something you can reconcile within the framework of an atomized society under capitalism.
If we want to build a society based in radical collective care, then that care must begin with defense in the womb. Preventing abortion IS community defense. I'm calling you to radicalize, comrade. Can you imagine a world beyond abortion? Have you tried?

Ask game bellow the cut ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
1. Are you named after anyone?
Nope. But my nickname, Ashi, is taken from a nursery song if it counts
2. When was the last time you cried?
Actually half an hour ago. I was rereading some part of Franny and Zooey for thousandths time and it always gets me
3. Do you have kids?
No and i never will
4. What sports do you play/have played?
5. Do you use sarcasm?
I have always been pathetic when it comes to sport. However i am both a good runner and swimmer but i only do those recreationally. I can't handle stress of racing. I've tried basketball and volleyball and i have been incredibly tragic like a wet miserable cat.
I try not to because it really creates communication issues especially with added language barriers. With some friends tho, we have shared sarcasm i believe so it works
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Hmmmmm... Their gaze. And whether they notice me or not.
7. What's your eye color?
Dark brown
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Neither exactly? I don't vibe hard with jumpscare horror but i do love bad devastating endings, not in tragic movies but ones that are meant to invoke discomfort.
9. Any talents?
I think i'm a good speaker in person. I have been the constant project presenter since 10th grade till end of my masters. I also think, or hope, tha i have quite an imaginative mind. Also whenever i'm making one of those huge 1000 puzzles i usually can grab one single piece and figure out where it belongs. I used to get mocked for this bc but hey if i take pride in that 😤
10. Where were you born?
Somewhere in middle east.
11. What are your hobbies?
Drawing, writing, hoarding academic papers (especially regarding religion and mythology recently), digging through all sorts of true crimes, unsolved cases, internet mysteries, fucked up cults. Puzzles and riddles, i also used to be so invested in Notpron (an insane & amazing internet puzzle) & i went to level 50 something & am planning to get back too. Also just grabbing internet courses related ro physics, geometry, astronomy for fun, i used to be a theatre kid but it's been some years since ive been a part of.
12. Do you have any pets?
No unfortunately :(
13. How tall are you?
148 cm/4'10 :D
14. Favorite subject in school?
In school it was geometry, biology, art, literature, and english. In my undergrad i took an anthropology course unrelated to my own degree which was the best experience and in my masters my favorite subject waw something i can roughly translate to architecture analysis.
15. Dream job?
I am somewhat having my dream job right now in a game design project with coolest people, but on the other hand i know big industries are literal hellscape when it comes to game and animation so i dont know really. I do wish to later in life go for phd, at one point i was fearing i'd be permanently a student djeujsisi but i think being a researcher/scholar of some sort is kinda awesome.
No pressure here @lilacpaperbird, @nameslikeguns, @stray-with-a-muffler , @hurricanejane, @fathercain1999, @laurasashtray, @sexwithag, and anyone who wants to do this im quite shy with tags

OK IVE HAD SO MANY IDEAS OF PE READER AND QUESTIONS TOO BECAHSE I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT HER SO HERE IT IS:
She proabably has so many conspiracy theories about her being apart of the illuminati that some people start to believe it
She had her fredom stolen from her because of fame and she tries her best to protect her family from that
She is so envied that big household names HATE HER
She faced so much critisism and shes tired of it
She has many song written about her: desprate song, them wishing just 1 night with her, sad song about her not giving them a chance, mesmarising song about how beautiful she is and how she seems like a siren in their eyes, rap song about how they're like yn ln and the other person is... idk... ana?😭
Big celebrities like the weeknd, harry styles etc... have a big crush on her and their fans hate on her😭 but then they realise that they would never have a chance against yn ln and start to post themselfs and her with the song 'heather' 😓
Now my questions🤗
How was she as a teenager? Was she popular or not?
Has she ever lashed out at someone on television or on social media?
Have big celebrities said that they're fans of hers? Like big BIG names: rihanna, beyonce, naomi cambell, angelina joile and idk why but i see cristiano ronaldo or neymar having a crush on her
Has she ever been on a animated show as herself? Like family guy or scooby doo?
Has she ever rejected someone publicly and people could tell whats going on?
Ok thats it😊😊😊
you’re so adorable! i love all these theories!
But in a way, i don’t imagine the weeknd’s, harry’s (or more) fans hating her because she’s such an icon so abel and harry having a crush on her isn’t weird because they’re two of many, many people. it’s sort of a natural thing for people and celebrities to have her as a celebrity crush.
to answer your questions:
1. yes, she was popular as a teenager. sure she was a spy kid, was Sam in A Cinderella Story, voiced Violet in The Incredibles when she was 13 to 16, but her breakthrough came from her role in V for Vendetta when she was only 17 and established her place as an actress with potential and range.
Following that were her roles as a lead in The Devil Wears Prada and Atonement, both iconic, must-watch movies. so she was pretty established then.
she was media trained for sure but she’s never been a wild teenager and i imagine it was her mom and theatre friends who always kept her grounded and in check. i think she’s mostly always been an introvert as well.
2. no, i don’t imagine so. there were times when she showed that questions shocked her (that were either sexist or sexual) and at first, when she was younger, she’d get very nervous but as she grew, she put people in their places so elegantly even though it’d humiliate them and surely give them a bad rep.
3. literally all of these. she’s friends with rihanna and i imagine her modelling for fenty beauty one time (maybe for fenty’s red lipstick) where it was a shoot of her and rihanna. she has such a good, unproblematic reputation among these people so they can’t really help but love her. whenever she sees beyoncé, they’re always so excited and always talk and people have a field day over “the two queens of both industry casually talking”.
omg imagine she attended a world cup match years ago and neymar was a nervous wreck and then later said in an interview that he was about to die when she greeted him.
4. i think we once said we imagine her being in The Simpsons and was in a Scooby Doo episode!
5. so many people, most recent being Drake who was presenting an award on stage and was like “Y/N Y/L/N, you’re looking so beautiful tonight” and she just smiled and wasn’t at all fazed or reactive and people all were like “there’s no way drake just tried to shoot his shot at y/n y/l/n who’s not only out of his league but is also married”

Re:Vale thoughts after I7 S3 pt2 SPOILERS AHEAD!
Just finished Idolish7 S3, part 2...and I'm not over it. There are definitely Spoilers all the way up to the end of season 3, part 2. You’ve been warned.
Re:Vale has been my favorite since they were introduced (in the anime, haven't yet played or read up on the game). I couldn't put my finger on why. Sure, their character designs were nice-looking...but I didn't like them in a crushy fangirl way...I liked them for genuinely being kind senpai...and what Season 3 revealed about Momo breaks my heart.
I loved the way they pranked Idolish7 upon meeting them. I loved the fact that they ended up being the kind and friendly type of senpai. They had fame—they were at the top of the idol industry (and they managed it in a measly 5 years)--but they weren't conceited about it. They could have been the aloof, “I'm better than everyone” type of idol...Like Camus of Quartet Night (Uta no Prince-sama) or like Zool is trying to be. Unlike Zool, which I see as a Heel-type...Re:Vale had the clout to back up that attitude if they chose it. They chose to be genuinely friendly and to guide and protect their kohai so that everybody could have fun and be happy together. I see most of this as Momo's influence.
Yuki before Momo saw everyone as expendable. The core of his Re:Vale was himself and his music. He was a music-making savant. Yuki's talent in writing/composing their own songs is literally good enough to be recognized by Kujo multiple times. Kujo attempted to scout Yuki of Re:Vale but Yuki wanted to stand by Banri because Banri was his friend. But Re:Vale started as two friends trying to form a band together—a band, complete with a guitarist or two, bass, and a synthesizer or something. That was the original intention but Yuki's prickly personality and his view of how him and his music were the only non-expendable parts of the project made it so that a band never got off the ground...so...Banri made the decision to shift gears and to debut as an idol duo rather than as a band. I feel like Banri suggested this because the Yuki he knew at the time wasn't able to get along with anybody and what Banri wanted was to share Yuki's gift of music-making with the world. It took losing Banri and then Momo's influence for Yuki to realize that people are not expendable...that making songs alone didn't feel right. What good is a song if it isn't shared with other people? Yuki had the talent to create songs...but he couldn't share them with the world as a single act.
Re:Vale's story is heartbreaking for me because I see the current Re:Vale as something Momo created. Yuki was ready to give it all up until Momo struck a bargain with him: 5 years. Keep it going for 5 years and then do whatever you want. He never once considered that he'd get more than 5 years and it seems like he just assumed that after 5 years Re:Vale would end or drop him and that Yuki would go solo or something. There is no Re:Vale as it is now without Momo. Banri got them to the small stages but between Banri and Yuki, neither of them had connections or knew how to behave in order to invite sponsors and patrons or whatever. That was Momo's doing. In 5 years, Momo turned a high-school duo performing in small live-houses into the monarchs of the idol industry. They became kings because of Momo's influence—because of his socialization skills. Yuki could only see the music, Banri just wanted to share his talented friend's music with the world. Momo got them there. And despite all that, time and again we've been shown how Momo doesn't value himself at all.
Momo was so anxious over the 5 year bargain being up that he couldn't perform. The original Re:Vale saved his life and inspired him to break out of his funk over getting injured and being unable to play soccer professionally or whatever. I think what Momo wanted with the 5 year bargain was the fact that he couldn't accept that something so meaningful to him could end just like that. Re:Vale gave him a new will to live and he refused to see it end. What Momo didn't realize until their kohai performed a medley of Re:Vale's songs was that the Re:Vale he and Yuki created then went on to inspire many, many more idols. They weren't Zero...but they were well-loved. And...well...we're constantly told of Zero's legendary performances and how he's the pinnacle of Idol...but I don't feel like we've seen any of that. Zero is to this series what Gol D. Roger was to One Piece or what All Might was in the world of Boku no Hero Academia. He's the legend everybody talks about and the motivation for the main characters...but us as the readers aren't shown much of that. We're constantly told that Zero was a Legendary idol...but I have yet to see Zero perform a full song. We're told that Dis One was a Zero song...but we've only heard Re:Vale's version, Tenn's accapella version, and the opening riffs of the Fake-Zero's version. To me, Dis One is a Re:Vale song. Theirs was the first complete version I heard and even if a Zero version is released someday, I'm still going to compare it to Re:Vale. I loved Tenn's version too...but to me, Dis One is a Re:Vale song.
After all that, Momo's the one doing the most to try and protect the kohai from the darker side of the entertainment industry. Every time he meets with Tsukumo Ryo, I imagine someone throwing themselves over a pit of snakes to prevent anyone else from getting bitten. Despite Ryo being totally unhinged, Momo still tries to defend him to some extent. He's cautious and he knows what Tsukumo (the company) and what Tsukumo Ryo are capable of...but he still thinks appeasing Ryo is better than cutting him off and that comes back to bite him in a terrible way.
Momo even extends an olive branch to Zool despite knowing that they are Tsukumo's toys. At least three of the Zool members seem to be willing accomplicies doing what Tsukumo Ryo wants them to. Despite them acting in such a way, Momo doesn't hold it against them and even gives them his personal cell number if any of them ever needs to talk with them (to escape Tsukumo, I guess).
When the members of Re:Vale go out for a drink. Banri picks up on something: Momo never compliments himself and it seems like Momo still harbours some feelings of, “I'm not needed. Re:Vale should just be you two...I should go away”. Banri starts talking about how he's confident in his skills as a talent manager and admin at Takanashi Productions. He's proud of the fact that he knows how to manage Idolish7 and that he knows how his boss takes his coffee and that he's confident in his computer skills. He's proud of what he's accomplished as a behind-the-scenes member of Takanashi Productions. He then asks Momo to do the same, to brag about himself a little. Another heartbreaking moment because Momo freezes. Nothing comes to mind for him. Yuki frowns and fields this, bragging about all that Momo's accomplished in 5 years. This moment still brings tears to my eyes because it shows a few things: 1) Yuki has changed for the better—he's able to see the talents of other people now rather than writing people off as expendable. 2) Momo still doesn't see that there's no Re:Vale without him. Re:Vale as it is wouldn't exist without him and he still can't see that.
It comes back to bite him. After Friends Day, they are literally planning on killing Momo—right in front of him. He doesn't put up a fight because he doesn't want them switching targets. And when the thugs have him literally leaned over his balcony and are fumbling to uncuff him before throwing him from that height, Momo's thoughts aren't crying out to be saved. His last thought was literally “Ban-san, did I do a good job protecting Riku and Idolish7?” He's literally staring his death in the face and all he's thinking is whether or not he was a good boy that protected his kohai. This moment was totally heartbreaking.
When Yuki gets involved, Momo fights back...but only to try and give Yuki time to run away. He hits one thug, but turns his back on the other one in favor of begging Yuki to run away. He doesn't try to run away together with Yuki. He doesn't fight back more than necessary...one thug buys Yuki time...both thugs would show that Yuki has a will to live and that he's fighting to incapacitate the thugs with some intention of surviving the fight. This moment makes me terrified that maybe Momo's story is that he genuinely thinks so little of himself that not only does he not care about himself, but he's actively trying to sacrifice himself. There's no Re:Vale without Momo. Yuki isn't going to recover from it this time if Momo goes away. Momo isn't replaceable and his influence is why Re:Vale immediately became my favorite of the idol groups.
Momo's apartment only has two exits. You either leave through the door, or you take a flying leap off of the balcony toward almost certain death. Had Momo shoved both thugs far enough to give them time to run, they both could have gotten to the door before the thugs could have gotten up. It's an inward-swinging door—which means that it'd be slightly more difficult, but it'd be do-able for them to get to the other side of the door and then either jam the deadbolt or otherwise pull on the handle to keep the thugs trapped in the apartment while one or the other called the authorities (or they could have run for the stairs or something. When Yuki is threatening Zool, he mentions that with two enemies, it's tougher because odds are that the enemy is blocking all paths out of the situation. In Momo's apartment, the enemy was behind them. The both had a clear shot to the door but Momo chose not to take it.
I love Re:Vale...or rather, I love the Re:Vale that was created by Yuki and Momo...and I can see mostly Momo's influence on that main reason that I love Re:Vale: they're friendly, honest, and sincere senpai (and their music sounds pretty awesome). They're kind. They're willing to see the good in everyone. And their goal isn't to be the condescending senpai or some grand “let's inspire a new generation of idols” or whatever...they're out there doing their jobs to make people happy. They make people laugh. They entertain people. And while doing all of this, they're actively trying to clean up the shadier bits of the entertainment industry by shielding their kohai—rival groups. They aren't out to sabotage the other groups—the genuinely want everyone to be friends and inspire each other to do a good job and create awesome things.
So...yeah...I finished Season 3 part 2 of Idolish7 and realize yet again that I'm hooked on this series. The entire series is amazing because it doesn't follow the generic “Okay, line up, every bishi gets their own feature episode and then we'll do a group song somewhere in the last 3 episodes”...there's drama, there's “scandal”, and throughout it all there's everyone (except those involved with Tsukumo...bar Toma) trying to be genuine people/characters. Yeah...Watch Idolish7. It's another bishi-packed idol anime. WTF?! Who gave you the right to play with my feelings like this?! Who gave you the right to put tearjerker in what I thought was a generic otome-esque series!? Like...at first I was annoyed by Nagi...but then there was that thing with Mitsuki in tears and Nagi being there for him...and then part 2 just had to have that shot of Nagi with tear-tracks on his face...WTF!? Who gave you the right to play with my feels like this i7?!

343 Guilty Spark Mega Fan Girl DUMP
Tumblr media
Hi welcome to my trash takes that started sometime before 2007 and has continued well into the future
Fyi: I will talk spoilers without warning for both forerunner saga and rion forge trilogy
Part 1- Bungie Era
Yes I loved 343 Guilty Spark before he got any of his big character development. I'm a huge fan of scifi robots I was also obsessing over portal and hal 9000 around this time. I defend hal 9000 too lmao read the books to find out why
He's round hes cute hes really just following protocol ok leave him alone.
I VIVIDLY remember my highschool friend being like BUT WHY DO YOU LIKE HIM??? and me responding :
Tumblr media
I've always been in love with the "mystery of the forerunners" especially in Halo 1 where we are just walking around this ancient beautiful place with 0 knowledge of it. Guilty Spark has always been the one connection we have to forerunners and that makes him awesome.
even before 343 industries made those (absolutely perfect amazing) terminals we knew that Guilty Spark had been alone for 101,217 years on a ring, he witnessed everyone who was susceptible to the flood die as planned.
Halo 3 Era we learn all he knows is his halo ring because his makers limited his knowledge to only about his ring thru
compartmentalization
(which is clever mention at the end of primordium. I know bungie didn't intend it, I don't care still think it's neat) (halo 3 the ark cutscene)
He's always been interesting to me, he never meant to be evil, he's just programmed to be the way he is. He literally doesn't know any better
"Protocol dictated my response"
"Now I have only one function to help you reclaimer as I always should have done"
"The installation was my responsibility"
"I take no pleasure in doing what must be done"
P.S. I've watched the halo 1-3 cutscenes so many times that I can recite some of them word for word. Lmao
I legit made a cardboard foam version of Guilty Spark during this era (and tim dadabo saw pictures of it online!!!) Also wore a Guilty Spark dog tag to school for many days. It was confused a few times with Wheatley and sometimes I just let people think it was Wheatley lmao.
Tumblr media
Also NO JOKE First time I played the library (I was in middle school mind you) had a dream about walking around in the library (empty of flood) and finding a broken little guilty spark. Weird takeaway but Im convinced the universe was foreshadowing my blorbo obsession lmao
Around this time I made a Master Chief costume out of cardboard and got my helmet signed by Steve Downes. I was around 15yrs old, this was literally the greatest thing to happen to little me
Tumblr media
Part 2- Forerunner Saga
I really didn't expect my beloved blorbo bleebus the one skrunkly mofo that everyone else seemed to hate to get content past Halo 3's Saddest Anime Ending. Yet here we are!
Prelude: the halo 3 terminals. I definitely printed the transcript out and read them in class instead of actually paying attention in school lol I remember being obsessed with Mendicant Bias. Funny that he'd later be involved in killing Chakas...
Jan 4, 2011, 2 days before my bday, 1 day after my best friend's bday, Halo Cryptum was released. During the time before this day I was major hyped about this book. I was caught up with all previous halo books, I wanted the mysterious forerunner lore, and best of all here is the chance to get some lore of my favorite Guilty Spark.
I remember preordering this book without paying the extra amount to get it signed. I remember being very confused as to why I'd pay to have a book signed before I had read it. I'll regret this for the rest of my life.....
I absolutely adored Cryptum. I love adventure books and the beginning half is just so amazing and special!!! I remember being slightly disappointed that Guilty Spark never showed up (lol to my knowledge at the time) but the book was SO GREAT that I didn't even care. Also Chakas name was so funny at the time I had recently seen "shaka when the walls fell" - Star Trek TNG
I started stalking when the next book in the forerunner trilogy would release because I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO CHAKAS RISER AND BORNSTELLAR MY POOR BABIES also hopefully Guilty Spark will show up?? Haha!! I remember someone asked 343i in some panel if Guilty Spark had any lore in the forerunner trilogy and they responded something along the lines "we have something big planned for him but we can't elaborate"
Needless to say my hype was astronomical
Later that year GUILTY SPARK CRASHED COMICON!!! HALO CEA (my favorite halo game) REMAKE WITH TERMINALS!!!! SCREAMING AGCTJCDYUC!!!
I watched this video about 101,217 times:
youtube
Also hey!! Primordium is releasing Jan 3, 2012 on my best friend's bday!!!
A Great Time For Guilty Spark fan like me
I watched the first few terminals in early Dec then went on vacation and had to finish the rest later which unbeknownst to me worked nicely because this meant Id be reading Primordium and watching the halo cea terminals side by side which made me suspicious of the chakas/guilty spark connection because
Guilty Spark in the library and the maw terminal speaks VERY FONDLY of the Librarian, and Chakas also just speaks very FONDLY of her thru most of the book. Plus Chakas is revealed to be a monitor at the beginning of the book so I definitely was thinking THATS SUS!!!!
Going back to Dec I remember reading the preview first chapter of primordium on vacation at the top floor of my grandma's house by stealing neighbors internet and I don't know why I remember this so vividly I must have really enjoyed this moment
When Primordium released I spent the entire book going "Is Guilty Spark Chakas? No it can't be thats stupid" because reasons explained above and also every time a monitor would show up id think "uhh Guilty Spark???" Thought the same of Genemender lol.
Also forgot to mention: I was at first very upset that they had killed my boy Chakas like what the heck they mean saying he's a monitor How Dare They??? LOWKEY STILL UPSET
FUN FACT: I WAS 18 YEARS OLD WHEN PRIMORDIUM RELEASED
I remember being like WOW CHAKAS IS around the same age as me!!!! Which just makes his death ever more tragic.
I've said it before I'll say it again, even before the Guilty Spark reveal, I genuinely enjoyed Primordium. I like adventure books and I like character development. Walking around aimlessly on a halo ring by characters Im already in love with from the previous book is great. Also Gamelpar.... he's so absolutely great.
Remember when people started using Salty as a term? Well I found that silly and slightly annoying so I started telling anyone who would use that word "WELL THE GODS PISS SALT THATS WHY SOME ANIMALS LIVE BETTER IN SALTWATER" Nobody around me understood and my explanations only caused more confusion and I still think thats hilarious.
Anyway book ending. I immediately recognized
COMPARTMENTALIZATION
Because this is legit my favorite Halo 3 Guilty Spark cutscene. He looks so absolutely adorable here. Look at him!! He does a twirl!! Cuteee!!!! AAAA!!
I definitely was very happy that my earlier suspicions were correct, but very sad that my boy's human life had ended. Such conflict, much sad.
Also HOLY SHIT HIM TAKING CONTROL OF THE RUBICON I LEGIT ENJOYED THAT ENDING WAY MORE THAN I SHOULD HAVE
Anyway I made this 343 Guilty Spark plush this year (2012) lol
Tumblr media
So lets talk about primordium releasing in 2012 and renegades releasing in 2019. Do you know how long 7 years is to a nerd like me? Yes Silentium Continued part of the story, but holy shit getting spark back in the current halo timeline then waiting 7 years to continue
Tumblr media
I begin to understand how guilty spark felt after the halo rings were fired just waiting alone for 100,000 years just like me waiting alone for 7 years gosh this is so corny lmao
Silentium was great my favorite part was when Monitor Chakas rescued Bornstellar and said the whole "chakas could have murdered you back on erde tyrene and he didn't" because you know BEST FRIENDS SO PRECIOUS
I have lots of fond memories of listening to the forerunner trilogy audio books during long car trips. One time we were on our way to take a ferry to an island and I jokingly went "I hope they are playing the right songs" to which my brother rolled his eyes (I was referencing the merse lol). I associate a lot of my adventures with halo audiobooks and its awesome.
I remember Halo 4 came out and I thought for sure we'd see Spark when we saw the Librarian
Lol Nope. Not mad, Halo 4 is a masterpiece and I will forever miss that era of halo especially now that we have the train wrecks that are 5 and 6.
When Halo 5 came out, I didn't buy the game. I watched the cutscenes on youtube, was horrified and didn't interact with halo for about a year or so. I fell behind on the halo books. I'm still behind.
I still occasionally stalked Guilty Spark's Halopedia for that possible Primordium sequel but this was much less often than before. I was very upset at what they did to our Cinnamon roll Cortana.
Part 3- Rion Forge Trilogy
So May 11 2019... I check Guilty Spark's halopedia page because hey I haven't done this in years what the heck
and I see the Armiger...
Tumblr media
So after waiting 7 years. I finally got my book.... But Im almost 3 months late...
Needless to say I went that same day to Barnes and noble and bought the book. Started reading it and didn't get very far. I still had not read Smoke and Shadows so lol didn't make much sense. I couldn't find a local bookstore that had it so I got the digital copy. I hate digital copies.
I genuinely LOVED Smoke and Shadows I was very upset when they killed Cayde and its cool that Rion is Halo Wars Forge's daughter. Also FINALLY SOME EVIL SPACE CIA LORE. I hadn't enjoyed that since back when hunt the truth came out
Tumblr media
On to Renegades: I was so genuinely excited for this book after 7 years, we got the sequel, And what a great sequel it was.
I love how organic and down to earth these books are. It's own style not something epic and out there like Greg Bear. It's the perfect place in time for Spark to regain touch with his own humanity.
I love the relationships of all the characters! I love watching them all forced interact with Spark whether they wanted to or not (Niko sure wanted to lol)
Gonna list some highlights from the book in no particular order:
When they went to Myer's Moon and Spark sat on top of a rock waiting for the right moment to shoot a fish out of the water. You don't understand. I grew up near the ocean, sitting on top of rocks waiting for an opportunity to catch a fish (which I later released)... this is absolutely great and so oddly close to me...
When Spark compared himself to Niko, where he said something along the lines of "the life and friendships stolen from me (chakas) since he was Niko's age when he became Spark. Also him wondering if his mom and sisters ever looked for him, if they thought he died in a knife fight. My brother is now near Chakas age. So that hits differently now...
When they got their stuff back from ONI and Spark snatched up Rion from falling and him later snatching up the siblings and lecturing them to be more careful!!
Spark going back to Erde Tyrene.... holy shit. I remember him asking to go back in Silentium...
Spark telling the librarian that "the greater good is merely an excuse for the strong to make decisions for the weak"
Them doing the ritual at the end and Spark letting go of his friends....pain...
This book was definitely very special to me. I'm really glad they put so much thought and love into this redemption arc. (Even though he didn't need redemption in my eyes lol)
Tumblr media
I remember how EXCITED I WAS for Point of Light
I remember just doing the weirdest most EXCITED scream when I saw it announced. And I mentioned it before will repeat I legit was freaking out internally when buying this. I was legit stupid levels of excited. I remember vividly how I felt when buying this...
I loved the connections we got in point of light to forerunner trilogy. I said this before but for the sake of this post: To prepare for this book I had reread a month or so before the forerunner trilogy and the two Rion Forge books and that was so absolutely rewarding especially since..... poor Spark got sent back to Zeta halo by the librarian. What a great mom!! /s
Gonna list some highlights from the book in no particular order:
Spark's redesign for this book is not only lore accurate but he looks GREAT much better than renegades
Spark and Little Bit interacting. I wish we got more....
The as was before place or w/e where Spark liked to pretend he was still Chakas on earth
Going back to installation 07 was great (horrible for Spark) but great to read, the silent cartographer.... omg... why wasn't it in infinite...
There were a few moments where Spark was doing "cool ai stuff" like when he destroyed all of ONIs bugs and trackers
Spark's (brief) interactions with Veridity (lowkey mad we didn't see her in infinite
When Spark was explaining how Chakas (innocently) thought he could trick the primordial/mendicant bias and escape
The ending.... where Spark says goodbye to Rion as Chakas and does a smirk..
Fun Fact! At the beginning of this book Spark talks about how his mom says to not dip you toes in still water since there's crocodiles and I read this a few days before I had plans to go kayaking in a swamp with gators and I was already pretty spooked about it and this didn't help lol.
Anyway I could continue but I think this enough random incoherent babbling from me. If I forgot to add anything Ill reblog or something
Thanks for coming to my SparkTalk
Ill leave you with my custom figure of Spark ❤
Tumblr media
Never forget that he's baby lol

ya boy has another announcement to make
So I'm sure some of you have noticed the lack of my usual art posts, and I kinda-sorta wanted to give you all heads up that yeah, my posts will be slow down a bit since I've been focusing more on animation and improving my work.
Especially now that my parents are actively telling me to open animation and art commissions so I can use my skills to start earning money, though I'm sure commissions won't open until a long while from now. Even then, I'm pretty sure that most of the commissions I will be taking during that time will be for the music industry since both my parents work in that specific field, plus I feel like working for the music industry will ensure chances of me even getting commissions in the first place, since I doubt that opening commissions online will ensure a steady stream of income.
Enough about the money talk though, I will be checking in from time to time to post random stuff like answering asks or sharing a random thing I thought about a second ago. So I won't really be gone entirely (and honestly, at this point, I don't think I physically can-)
I know this "change" is barely even deserving of an announcement, but I just wanted to clear things up in case I don't go around posting art for a while.
[other life stuff I wanted to talk about but aren't important enough for their own post under the cut because uhh yeah]
I have a feeling a handful of my followers think that I’ve been busy working on the animated music video that I mentioned not too long ago, but I honestly haven’t even been working on it.
I've officially been recruited a week ago (+3 days but that's not important) and work hasn't started yet. there's been a real lack of announcements as to what's going on and the direction the team is headed. I actually had a talk with my boyfriend about this (who is both on the moderation team and a part of one of the cover groups) about it and there have been some complications concerning management behind the scenes.
I'm a bit skeptical and worried about the project since I can tell the lack of experience that the higher-ups have with such an undertaking. But I can't blame them for having issues with stuff like this, I just hope that things get sorted out for the better. Not just for my sake as someone on board with the project, but also for the organizers who bit off more than they could chew.
Honestly as excited as I was, if production ends up being absolute hell all because of the organizers and their well-meaning ignorance. I don't think I'd really hesitate to resign. It's better to anchor the ship than to tread dangerous and unforeseen waters hoping it will go smoothly because of the crew's sheer willpower.
But, I give them a benefit of the doubt. I'm looking at the bright side and I hope to see the end of this with the fruits of our labor. But for now, the project is on hold.
(kinda hoped they announced it was on hold instead of me having to figure it out though-)
Outside of the career stuff, my school announced a self-care break for about two weeks. something about mental health stuff, I don't know I didn't really listen to most of the seminars they were really surface-level "don't kill yourself! stop being depressed!" stuff. But I do get a few days off so that's pretty rad.
HOWEVER.
I've been informed about technology not being allowed during the break?? and it's honestly, and pardon my language, BULLSHIT. literally, they've done this a year before and it was awful. as someone with a chronically understimulated brain with no friends and nothing fun to do around the house, having your only source of communication, entertainment, and the main tool to even work on art and animations being prohibited for 2 whole weeks is more of a practice in psychological torture. It isn't even self-care anymore and I'm so sick of these boomers thinking no technology = depression is no more
Idk, call me chronically online all you want I just think that it's stupid and I'm not even gonna try. besides, what are they gonna do?? give me an F- on my mental health grade or something?? No one should be allowed to tell anyone how and how not to spend their vacation days, especially when it's a vacation week you let them have, a vacation week FOR THEM.
bleghh it just made me a little bit angry is all, I won't let it get to me though. anyways yeah that's it, lowkey turned into a bit of vent/rant at the end but eh it's not like anyone will really read it all in full.
I'm done here buh-bye
