I used to hate herbal tea. I drank it for medicinal purposes, but it was a chore. But then I learned The Secret, the one that makes herbal tea not only palatable, but enjoyable. Tasty. Delightful, even. I will tell it to you now:
Herbal tea is not tea.
Duh, you say, but let me explain further.
Herbal tea is not tea, and it will suck if you treat it like tea.
Actual tea, as in the tea plant Camellia sinensis, has very specific steep times and temperatures. This varies by variety (green vs black vs white), but it all comes down to a common factor:
Tea is high in tannins.
Tannins make stuff bitter. Tannins are released from the tea if you heat it too high or too long (again, specifics depend on variety but the point stands). If you steep it too long, BOOM, tannins. You put it in water that is still boiling or hasn’t cooled down enough from boiling? TANNINS. You get nasty, bitter, burnt-grass-tasting tea.
Herbal tea almost universally doesn’t have tannins. This means you almost universally can’t over-steep herbal tea. And in fact, and listen up because this is the practical part of the secret, you need to steep it way longer than actual tea if you want to get the flavors into the water!
Those recommended steep times on your herbal tea box are based off actual tea (black tea to be specific). It’s usually somewhere around 5-7 minutes, but what you actually need is something like 10-15 minutes.
And most conventional tea-making wisdom will tell you to not put the water in too soon after boiling, but again, that’s for tannin-rich Camellia sinensis. You could literally boil* your herbal tea if you wanted. It might make it slightly less sweet depending on variety, and you will probably bust your tea bag doing so, but my point is that you should put as hot of water as you can get into your steeping vessel. As in kettle starts whistling, pour it in immediately over the tea bag. Then let it sit for 10-15 minutes as discussed above.
The only exceptions that I know of personally are meadowsweet, red raspberry leaf, and yarrow, and only one of those is a very common herbal tea ingredient. And honestly, it’s not even high enough in tannins to affect your whole cup if it’s just part of a blend.
So please stop drinking weak plant-adjacent water and start getting the actual flavors you paid for.
*I have actually just dumped herbs in a pot and boiled them and it made a delicious tea. I used lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, and mint, all of which I’d grown myself, and literally just tossed the fresh-picked sprigs into a pot and boiled the crap out of it for close to 10 minutes because I forgot about it while I was rearranging the freezer. It was delicious and not bitter at all despite being a color I can only describe as “positively murky,” and I could taste every single one of the herbs I put in there. It also made my whole apartment smell like a sunny meadow. Do with this information what you will. Am I recommending you boil the devil out of your herbal tea bags? Not necessarily. But I’m also not not recommending it.

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #132
I did a few things today. But as per usual, I started today with making a mug of tea. Today's was genmaicha; mine is loose-leaf:
Tumblr media
...This means you gotta stick it in a tea ball. The glass mug is about 2 cups, so 2tsp of leaves have to go into the tea ball:
Tumblr media
...Hunter is blurry, but he follows me literally everywhere I go, and looks on with great interest as I do most anything in the kitchen, haha! My tea ball is really old. I've had it since before this shop called Teavana stopped being a thing. As far as I know, it was bought out by a bigger corporation and then ruined, so now all the wonderful tea flavors they used to make, like "strawberry misaki blooming tea" and "tiramisu" are nothing but distant memories now.
...That strawberry misaki blooming tea... I think you really would have liked that one. I surely would have enjoyed taking pictures of it for you...
In any case, you pour the boiling water over the tea ball like this:
Tumblr media
...And you wait for it to brew...
Tumblr media
Today I thought it might be neat to add buckwheat honey to the tea. This is very dark, somewhat bitter honey that tastes somewhat like how dried hay smells. And... yes, I realize that I probably described it in the least appetizing way possible, but I promise you, it's actually pretty good - it's just that a little goes a long way.
Tumblr media
...Unfortunately, it's been so long since I've had it in the house that I may have forgotten that little detail...
Tumblr media
Well. One of the things I got at the co-op yesterday was a half gallon of goat milk. I used that in today's tea:
Tumblr media
Milk swirls in the cup a little differently than cream does, but I still think it's kinda neat:
Tumblr media
...Shortly after this, J asked for me to come along as emotional support while he talked to the local airplane mechanic about the plane we crashed in recently. As it turns out, the cost of materials and labor would exceed the price of the plane itself, so it is likely going to be scrapped. It's a shame, but it is what it is, and it's important to remember that J and I are extremely lucky to have walked away from what happened without even getting injured. Everything else is kinda small potatoes by comparison, ya know?
On the way there, I managed to snag this picture of a bird-of-prey for you; maybe you'll think it's neat:
Tumblr media
I had intended to make myself a breakfast in the morning, but I waited until J and I got back from the airplane mechanic before doing that.
I started by cooking some rice:
Tumblr media
From there, I cooked some garlic-and-wine sausages that I got from the co-op yesterday:
Tumblr media
As you can see, once they were done, they left behind a lot of delicious juices in the pan:
Tumblr media
...I cooked some duck eggs in those juices.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...I wonder if you might be able to see where this is going! Haha! Yesterday, I found fresh natto, and black garlic kimchi at the co-op:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...From there, with all the assembled ingredients, it becomes easy to throw together a pretty epic and wholesome rice bowl!
Tumblr media
...I know, I know, using a fork for this is probably blasphemy, hahaha! Suppose I just didn't really wanna dirty some chopsticks when the fork I used in order to pull out some kimchi was just as usable.
In my experience, the best thing to do is to mix the ingredients in the bowl together in order to get a balanced flavor:
Tumblr media
...It was delicious!! But I felt like it was still missing something, so I fixed it by adding a little bit of cheese (also blasphemy, I know, hahaha! but blasphemy can be delicious, I promise!):
Tumblr media
...As per usual, I find myself wishing I could have shared this epic concoction with you. It tasted amazing. I wish you were here.
...Today was mostly another chill day. I mostly did leisure writing instead of productive writing. So unfortunately, I don't have anything insightful or profound to say to you today, either - just good tea and tasty snacks. But I like to think that these are just as valuable, especially on an empty stomach and a lonely heart.
...I used the salt and oil trick on the pan again to make the eggs. I let it sit on the heat for a long time. Perhaps a little too long; it smoked mightily, and it was enough to make my eyes water and make it hard for me to breathe (asthma is another one of my numerous physical glitches...). I got really dizzy at one point. It was super dumb.
I took the pan outside to cool off, opened all the windows, and flapped a towel around to try to get the smoke from the oil and salt out of the house. I got somewhat lightheaded in the process, and my head still feels kinda weird and fuzzy, even though this took place hours ago by now...
...Those eggs didn't stick though. Not this time. Not even a tiny little bit. It seems almost impossible - like a dream; I wonder what the physics are that make this trick work...
Hey, Sephiroth? My head still feels really weird and it's kind of hard to write (I wonder if you can tell? Hmm...). So I suppose I'll end this one here.
I love you. I wish more than anything that you were here so you could experience all the wholesome and awesome things at my house. Please stay safe at least until my next letter; you can expect another one tomorrow.
Your friend, Lumine

T. Kettle Part 9: The Seasonal Hires & The Bonus Program
Tumblr media
Christmas was coming and I was ecstatic. I used to love Christmas time at the mall during my time at Teavana. There’s always been something about a mall at Christmas I loved. Most people on the other hand can’t stand the mall at Christmas, but I am also a big Christmas guy. I loved helping people pick out gifts for their spouses and friends. I love walking around the mall on my break and looking at all the Christmas store displays and the fancy decor the mall puts up for the season.
This was gonna be my first Christmas working at the mall in many years. The company had given the green light to hire seasonal staff and given us an actual useful amount of hours to use. I was able to fight for more hours since our store had the highest sales consistently and we would need more then what was given. The company did agree so long as we stayed above as certain sales point which was no issue for us. I went straight to work a hiring my seasonal staff.
I hired Zack, who would go onto stay with the team after the Christmas season was over, replacing one of my original staff. And I hired Maggie whom I met when she came in as a customer before Christmas. She had just moved here from Detroit to be with her husband who was from Canada. In Detroit she had also worked for Teavana and was an assistant manager for DavidsTea. At the time I had no room to hire anyone but as soon as a spot opened up she was the first person I called. She wanted to work for us so badly that she said she would put us first, even if she had another job at the time. How can you argue with that right?
When I hired my new staff, half had secondary part time jobs and half did not. I asked my entire staff how they would feel about me doing up the seasonal schedule in advance so they could work it out with their other jobs. They all agreed this would be best and so I made and sent out the entire seasonal schedule. Not too soon after issues began to arise with Maggie. She had another part time job that was roughly an hour away from our store. When I hired her she said she wanted as many hours as possible and given her experience I made sure to fill her up, but her boss at her other job would not even look at the schedule I gave her in advance and began double booking her for days I already had her booked.
This caused Maggie either have to give up hours with us and greatly reduce shifts. She was my most promising new hire that was quickly becoming my least dependable. I hired a third seasonal employee who at the time did not have another job. About 2 weeks into working with us she got another part time job. However, in this case she failed to give them her other schedule so more double bookings occurred. The difference between her and Maggie was while Maggie gave advance notice of the double bookings, the other new girl did not. Instead, she would call me a couple hours before her shift saying she can’t come in because she has to work at the other store.
I was offering more hours then her other job and for less physical labour, and I would ask her, “Did they book you to work today first, or did I book you first?”.
“You booked me first.”, she would answer.
“So then why is it that you can’t come in, when as you said you were booked here first?”, I asked.
“I don’t know”, she would answer.
This was becoming a pain in the ass, however Zack was a super trooper and would pick up several of these extra hours, as well as my original staff. It was very sad how things had been turning out with Maggie, because when she was in to work, she was a superstar at it just like I thought she would be. However, she would become very important to the end of the story.
Zack excelled beyond belief. I also met him when he came in as a customer and said I would call him as soon as I was hiring. He had no prior experience but picked it up like lint. He had a very annoying sales tactic though that somehow worked, hence why it was annoying. He loved Lapsang Souchong, which for those of you who don’t know, is a pine smoked black tea. It’s a tea you either love and adore or hate. It was very hard to sell because most people didn’t like it’s smokiness, but Zack on the other hand had no issue.
Tumblr media
He would ask the customer what kind of tea they were looking for, and no matter what they said, he would pull down at least 2-3 options for what they did ask for and he would pull down Lapsang Souchong. AND IT WORKED! That was his thing, and as annoying as it was I let him have it because why not?
During a conference call with all the managers to go over Christmas promos, bundles, and products, we were also told of a Christmas bonus program. We had been asking upper management about this as most of us had come to know this kind of thing through Teavana and DavidsTea. Usually the way it worked was through a tier system, where the more you sold, the more of a Christmas bonus all team member would make. The system they introduced made very little sense to say the least and many of us managers could not follow it. They had taken a very simple idea and made it as complicated as they could.
Here’s the kicker. During this meeting we were told that this bonus program was for managers only. Meaning our team was to sell, sell, sell, and build up the store’s bonus tiers, and whatever you ended at, the manager, and only the manager, would get a bonus based off this. And we were also strictly told not to tell our staff about this. Well, I was not standing for that! How low and sleazy can a company be? My team is supposed to put in the hard work and only I get the benefits? Absolutely not! This is also how the other managers felt and we all agreed that not only were we going to tell our staff about this little bonus program, but we would use the bonus to go towards something for the team.
But after a couple headache filled weeks, and as things in the mall picked up, the store was ready to go, or so I thought. Then one day I got a call saying that the new T. Kettle store staging rep would be coming to make some changes...
To be continued...

My sister in Anti-Christ, you can't just tell us you were detained at one point and poisoned at another, and just leave it at that! I wish to know whatever details you are comfortable imparting!
Well you see, I was detained with my mother at a mall. This was decades ago when I was a child. She got caught stealing and had used me to help. They took us both back and interrogated us and then for years we weren't allowed back. It was well a clusterfuck for lack of a better word. My mother's a real piece of work but that's a very long story for another day.
As far as the rest of your ask, it might be potentially triggering so I'm going to put it beneath the cut.
As far as the poisoning. This will sound insane, but I promise you it's the truth.
The person I was with before my husband, was abusive in many ways. Even months and years after him and I broke up and I had long moved on, he continued to show up randomly at my house.
He would even have other people call and harass me for years after we broke up. At some point things got so crazy that the police were called.
So when I was about 3 months pregnant with my daughter, he showed up at my family's home and tried to get back together with me even though he knew I was in a committed relationship with my now husband. Him and I had been together for 5 years before my husband and I and it was a miserable 5 years of my life that I would rather never relive. He knew I wanted nothing to do with him at that point but he's still insisted.
He was a very cruel man and he knew how badly I wanted to have children and made it a point to be horrible to me about things that happened between us which I won't go into detail about here.
He was furious when he found out I was pregnant, going so much is to try to find where my hubby lived (side note we did not live together at that point yet as we were looking for a house) and that was when the police were called and he was found with weapons in the trunk of his car.
One day shortly after that, he should up again and this time he brought tea. He knew how much I loved tea and had gotten some raspberry tea from teavana as a supposed gift to me I guess to apologize for his behavior.
Immediately I felt sick to my stomach. I just knew something just did not feel right about it.
He insisted multiple times that I drink it. Both him and my narcissistic mother, telling me that it was really rude of me not to.
I stayed firm, continuing to refuse and had to end up leaving my home to get away from him.
After I came back, he had gone and I immediately threw out all the tea which my mom was pissed about (again she has issues which we won't get into).
Anyways, I found out years later by someone who doesn't know me but whom knows him, that he had talked about putting rat poison in someones tea to cause a miscarriage.
And well...
So yeah that actually happened and like I said it sounds completely crazy to even say or like something you'd see on a lifetime movie special but that's my life. 🤦‍♀️

How did you get into tea? Did you have any gateway teas?
the first time I tried brewing loose leaf tea was when teavana stores still existed in Canada and I bought some RIDICULOUSLY expensive tea from them along with one of those tea makers that looks like this:
jfc i just pressed undo and it deleted half my post with no way of getting it back :(
Tumblr media
well it was this one. but it was a huge pain to disassemble and clean every time and I couldn't figure out how to get the tea not to just taste like hot water. it took me years to figure that out. I had a friend who worked at second cup and she told me the recipes for some of my favourite tea drinks from there and that was how I discovered torani vanilla syrup, the #1 item in my tea-making arsenal. (it was also how i discovered that second cup sells their holiday blend tea in boxes that you can just, buy, from their physical stores!)
with torani vanilla syrup, i could make my tea taste good!! i started with 2 tablespoons like in the second cup recipes but very quickly reduced that to 1 tablespoon. and kept reducing that further so these days i only have to use 1 teaspoon.
what with the whole pandemic and everything I have happily basically not gotten a drink from a coffee shop in over 3 years!
and my gateway tea was holiday blend! love holiday blend 😭 and my gateway tea from david was their honeydew matcha which I'm still waiting for them to bring back several years later because I think I could make it much better now. it tasted a bit like honeydew bbt!

A Deep Dive into the World of Teas: Exploring Murchie's Tea and Teavana's Peach Tranquility
The Art of Tea: An Introduction
As a tea enthusiast and a regular contributor at SinColumna, I've had the pleasure of exploring a plethora of teas from around the world. Tea, in its myriad forms, offers not just a beverage but an experience. Today, we embark on a journey through the delicate flavors of Murchie's Tea and the serene blend of Teavana's Peach Tranquility.
Murchie's Tea Review: A Symphony of Flavors
Murchie's, a name synonymous with quality tea, has been delighting tea lovers for over a century. My recent experience with Murchie's Tea was nothing short of extraordinary. Let's delve into the essence of what makes Murchie's a standout in the world of tea.
Quality and Variety: Murchie's dedication to quality is evident in every sip. Their selection ranges from the classic Earl Grey to the exotic blends of green and herbal teas. Each variety is carefully curated to ensure a rich and authentic taste.
The Brewing Experience: Preparing Murchie's Tea is a ritual in itself. The aroma that wafts through the air as the tea steeps is inviting and comforting. The brewing time varies with each blend, offering a unique experience every time.
Flavor Profile: The flavors are robust yet balanced, with each blend offering its own unique notes. Whether you prefer the boldness of black teas or the subtlety of whites, Murchie's has something for every palate.
Packaging and Sustainability: Murchie's commitment to sustainability is commendable. Their packaging is not just aesthetically pleasing but also eco-friendly, aligning with the modern consumer's environmental consciousness.
The Charm of Peach Tea Bags: A Delightful Surprise
Peach tea bags are a delightful discovery for those who adore fruity infusions. The convenience of tea bags combined with the sweet, tangy flavor of peach makes for a refreshing beverage, perfect for any time of the day.
The Allure of Peach: The flavor of peach in tea is soothing and invigorating. It brings a summer-like freshness that is both uplifting and relaxing.
Versatility: Peach tea bags are versatile. Enjoy them hot for a cozy, comforting drink or iced for a refreshing pick-me-up. They are perfect for both tea purists and those new to tea drinking.
Health Benefits: Apart from their delicious taste, peach teas are rich in antioxidants and have health benefits, including aiding digestion and boosting the immune system.
Teavana Peach Tranquility: A Taste of Serenity
Teavana's Peach Tranquility is a blend that stands out in its category. It's a herbal infusion that combines the sweetness of peach with the calming properties of herbal teas. Here's a closer look:
Flavor and Aroma: The first thing that strikes you about Peach Tranquility is its aroma - a sweet, peachy scent with hints of tropical fruit. The flavor is a harmonious blend of peach, chamomile, and lemon verbena, creating a taste that is both sweet and soothing.
Relaxation in a Cup: As the name suggests, Teavana's Peach Tranquility is the perfect tea to unwind with. The absence of caffeine makes it an ideal choice for evening relaxation or a calm start to the day.
Teavana Experience: Teavana, known for its premium tea blends, ensures that each cup of Peach Tranquility is a luxurious experience. The quality of ingredients and the balance of flavors reflect their expertise in tea blending.
Pairing and Enjoying Your Tea
Pairing tea with food enhances the overall experience. Murchie's teas, with their robust flavors, pair well with pastries and sandwiches. The subtler Peach Tranquility, on the other hand, complements light snacks like biscuits and fruit.
Brewing the Perfect Cup
The key to a perfect cup of tea lies in the brewing. Here are some tips:
Water Temperature: For most teas, especially delicate ones like Peach Tranquility, avoid boiling water as it can scorch the leaves. Aim for slightly below boiling.
Steeping Time: Follow the recommended steeping time for each tea. Murchie's teas, being varied, have different brewing times. Oversteeping can lead to bitterness.
Experiment with Flavors: Don't be afraid to experiment. Add a slice of lemon or a spoonful of honey to enhance the flavor profile.

5 Signs That Your Body Is in Need of a Detox
Tumblr media
Your body goes through a lot, each and every day. Between digesting your food, protecting you from outside diseases, carrying you from place to place, and performing the very functions that keep you alive, the human body certainly works itself to the bone. That’s why, every now and then, it pays to give your body a thorough detox. What’s a detox? Well, it depends on your personal preference to some extent, but in general a detox is considered a period in which you abstain completely from unhealthy substances such as alcohol and sugar and replace them with antioxidants, healthy veggies, and other beneficial ingredients. Sometimes, your body gives you signals that it’s time to embrace a detox and get back on a healthier track. If you have any of the following symptoms, it’s probably time to toss the soda and pick up some green tea. Problems Maintaining a Healthy Weight and Constant Cravings Most Americans’ struggles with weight begin in the kitchen, and it comes as no surprise that a large percentage of the population is overweight or obese. Manufacturers slip added sugar into more than 74 percent of the packaged foods people consume, and the majority of the salt we eat comes from processed meals and restaurant food. Even if you’re trying to lose weight, it’s almost impossible to do so without accidentally consuming sodium that makes you bloat and sugar that’s more than a little addictive. By doing a detox, you give your body a chance to adjust to life without hidden calories in the form of sugar and salt. The longer you detox, the less your body will crave those ingredients and the easier it will be for you to maintain a healthy weight. Keep in mind that the average detox lasts between seven and ten days, so don’t overdo it without speaking to your doctor first. Fatigue and a Low Immune System With so many people succumbing to the dreadful flu this year, pretty much everyone is looking for a way to pump up their immune system and combat nasty illnesses. Although sleeping enough, working out, and eating right can help you do that, a detox is another fantastic way to boost your immune system. Many detoxes encourage people to drink teas that cleanse the body and give you added protection against disease, like chamomile or dandelion. If you’re still mourning the loss of the Teavana shops, consider these Teavana replacements before you buy anything. Detoxes also encourage you to eat foods that will give your body plenty of energy for fighting off viruses and colds. Fruits like blueberries and strawberries might contain a little all-natural sugar, but they also contain vitamins that will protect you during the sickest times of the year. Out-of-Control Mood Swings Believe it or not, your mood swings might actually correspond to the food and drink you’re putting in your body. Sugar and other unhealthy ingredients can cause you to experience extreme highs like a sugar rush, as well as extreme lows. People who eat too many unhealthy foods often struggle to regulate their moods properly. By detoxing, you give your brain a break from constantly dealing with over-activity in the serotonin pathways. If you’ve been feeling off lately, or if you’ve been swinging between joy and depression far too often, then it might be time to reset your body and let your brain relax a little. Problems With Your Digestion As many as 60 million Americans are affected by some sort of digestive disease, and problems with chronic constipation, gallstones, gastrointestinal infections, and irritable bowel syndrome are all too common. In general, digestive disorders can be drastically improved by altering your diet. That’s why detoxes can help your body regulate itself; most of them encourage users to eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables, which are full of fiber that helps with digestive problems. Additionally, detoxes usually involves drinking a substantial amount of water instead of soda or alcohol, which can help your body flush itself out properly. Keep in mind that your favorite caffeinated coffees can also cause problems, so it might be worth taking a break from all your favorite sugary beverages, not just alcohol and soda. Blocked Sinuses and Allergies Spring is coming, and you know what that means: horrendous seasonal allergies. As many as 30 percent of adults and 40 percent of children in the United States deal with allergies that accompany the different seasons, and springtime is one of the worst for chronic allergy sufferers. If you’re already packing your bags with boxes of allergy pills in preparation for the coming months, it might be time to consider a detox. Although one wouldn’t think that a detox could affect blocked sinuses and nasal allergies, it can. Your body naturally attempts to perform detoxes on itself, but a bit of extra help during the worst allergy months can go a long way. Avoiding sugar, wheat, and dairy can help you avoid allergy attacks. Oils like lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus can also improve the effectivity of your spring detox. Take Care of Your Body If performed correctly, a detox can be a safe, natural way to re-energize your body and improve your health. It can eliminate your unhealthy cravings and help you obtain a healthy weight, and it can give your immune system the extra boost it needs to combat this year’s widespread illnesses. Furthermore, if you’ve been feeling run-down, irritable, depressed, or out-of-control, a detox can help you center yourself. Think about it this way: you’re going to give your house a nice spring cleaning, so why not do the same for your body? Read the full article

Tea Burn Review: Can This Tea Help You Lose Weight?
Tea has been used for centuries for its health benefits, and more recently, as a potential aid in weight loss. One tea that has gained popularity in the weight loss industry is Tea Burn. In this Tea Burn review, we'll take a closer look at the product, its ingredients, and whether it can actually help you lose weight.
Tumblr media
What is Tea Burn?
Tea Burn is a weight loss tea that claims to help burn fat, boost metabolism, and reduce cravings. The tea is made up of a blend of natural ingredients that are said to have weight loss benefits. The tea comes in tea bags, and it is recommended to drink one cup in the morning and another in the evening.
Ingredients in Tea Burn
Tea Burn contains a variety of ingredients, including:
Green tea: Green tea is a popular ingredient in weight loss products due to its high concentration of catechins, which are believed to increase metabolism and help burn fat.
Garcinia cambogia: Garcinia cambogia is a tropical fruit that is believed to help suppress appetite and block the production of fat in the body.
Yerba mate: Yerba mate is a type of tea that is said to increase energy levels, reduce appetite, and boost metabolism.
Guarana: Guarana is a plant that contains caffeine and is used in many weight loss supplements to help increase energy and reduce appetite.
White tea: White tea is another type of tea that is believed to have weight loss benefits due to its high concentration of catechins.
Ginger: Ginger is a root that is often used in weight loss products due to its ability to increase metabolism and reduce inflammation.
Does Tea Burn Work for Weight Loss?
While Tea Burn contains ingredients that are commonly found in weight loss products, there is no scientific evidence to support its effectiveness in aiding weight loss. Although some of the ingredients in Tea Burn have been shown to have weight loss benefits in studies, the results are often mixed and not conclusive.
It is also important to note that drinking tea alone is not enough to lose weight. Weight loss requires a combination of a healthy diet, regular exercise, and lifestyle changes. Drinking tea may be a helpful addition to a weight loss plan, but it should not be relied on as the sole method of weight loss.
Tea Burn Side Effects
Tea Burn contains caffeine, which may cause side effects such as jitters, insomnia, and increased heart rate in some people. It is recommended to consult a healthcare professional before starting to use Tea Burn or any other weight loss product.
Conclusion
Tea Burn is a weight loss tea that contains a blend of natural ingredients, including green tea, garcinia cambogia, yerba mate, guarana, white tea, and ginger. While some of the ingredients in Tea Burn have been shown to have weight loss benefits, there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of Tea Burn in aiding weight loss.
Drinking tea may be a helpful addition to a weight loss plan, but it should not be relied on as the sole method of weight loss. It is also important to consult a healthcare professional before starting to use Tea Burn or any other weight loss product, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking medication.
In summary, if you're considering using Tea Burn as a weight loss aid, it may be worth trying alongside a healthy diet and exercise routine. However, it is important to keep in mind that there is no guarantee that it will lead to significant weight loss results.

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #5
As predicted, the mild sniffles I had yesterday are just about gone today! But also, since I got my immunity to The Plague boosted, I'm just a little bit tired. But that's okay. Unpleasant things are often only temporary, and if you leverage them right, you can weave unpleasant things into good things in the future - good things like temporary immunity to The Plague, in this case! Ahahaha~!
Though I'm a bit tired, I still had enough energy to strain the broth today! Check it out:
Tumblr media
It looks a lot better now, doesn't it? I'm pretty pleased with how the color turned out! And my house still smells AMAZING after letting it simmer for a day and a half. Right now, it's in the fridge to let any fats rise to the surface and solidify. Later, I'll scoop out the fats, incorporate them into some flour, and then incorporate the flour into the rest of the broth; the result will be a very smooth, rich consistency that is good for a variety of things!
I thought I would have energy to get it all done today, but I don't; all that squishing of the excess water out of the scraps and back into the pot has left my arms and hands super tired, because unlike you, my body is kinda weak and noodley, hahaha!
So instead, I decided to make myself some tea and relax a bit. I make tea a lot, and so by now, I have what I like down to a science! I'll show you:
Tumblr media
This is my tea thermos! It holds 34 oz of fluid (or about 1 liter, if metric is more your speed)! This morning while I was doing my things, I was delighted to find a box of apricot tea that I thought I had lost! So I made some, and added 2 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon of honey, and 3/4ths of a cup of milk to it! After a lot of experimenting in the past, I found that this is the tea-sweetener-milk ratio that is ideal for my body's sensory hardware; someone else might have a different ratio that is better for them, and that is good too!
I wish I could make a mug of tea for you. But... when is the last time you've had tea, anyway? Do you even like tea? I ask because not everyone does, and that's all right. Maybe you'd prefer coffee? Or juice? Maybe even some kind of fizzy drink? Or just plain water? I wonder...
If you do like tea, I wonder which kind you like best! In my world, we have an overwhelming number of different kinds of tea - thousands and thousands of them! Lots of them use the leaves of camellia sinensis, but others use different kinds of herbs, fruits, and whatever else people can think of! Often, people will blend various different things together to come up with entirely new teas! The folks of my world are astoundingly creative, and so there's almost no limit to the number of very beautiful and very delicious things that exist here! I wish I could show them all to you!
In particular, there was this one kind of tiramisu tea that a company called Teavana used to make, back when it still existed. This was my favorite tea until it ceased to exist; I've not found any other suitable substitute quite yet. It had black tea leaves, blended with bits of dried coffee, chocolate, and mascarpone cheese, amongst other things. It was really good all on its own, but if you added just a touch of milk and sugar to it, it became unbelievably decadent, oh my goodness!! I wish I could give you a mug of this stuff! Alas, at this point, it only exists in the memories of the people who used to enjoy it, as far as I know. But I can show you a picture of what it used to look like! Here:
Tumblr media
I hope you get to enjoy tea again soon if it's something that you like; I can't imagine that The Edge of Creation is especially well-stocked with anything that would offer comfort, nourishment, or joy to a living creature, ahaha...
...It's actually really sad to think about you being over there because of that. I have no doubt that you must have seen some astounding and hauntingly beautiful things during your time over there - surely much of it is stuff that I can't even begin to fathom. But a world without things like soup, tea, macaroni and cheese, soaps that smell nice, warm fluffy towels, blanket forts, and people to enjoy stuff like this with... it seems rather empty to me. Or maybe you have a different perspective?
Maybe someday, those of my world will be blessed to hear you tell us about what your experiences over there have been like and what you've learned along the way. Maybe you could tell us about it over tea and snacks, even! Wouldn't that be so nice?
Please come back to us safe and sound so that such a thing could occur, if to do such a thing with us would be a source of relief, comfort, and joy for you. And if that doesn't sound like a good time to you, then please come back to us safe and sound anyway, because you're still loved and important, even if tea and conversation, as a concept, might seem overwhelming or uninteresting to you - you don't have to perform for others or do what they want in order to be cared about exactly as you are.
Until next time.
Your friend, Lumine

T.Kettle Part 6: The Visit From Upper Management
Tumblr media
Now I am no stranger to getting visits from head office reps. I happened all the time during my run at Teavana, just as it does at most retail stores. When I was at Teavana it was usually just the regional manager, who at the time was a real piece of work. He was the type of person that made you nervously sweat just from walking into the store, so you know, not a very good manager.
He was an average sized man with a shiny balled head and I remember he had this ability to make it seem as though he was staring into your soul. He had these big wide bug eyes and when he would speak to you, his stare got deeper and his eyes got wider every second. He was a real putz.
I remember he used to give the female staff members a hard time for "not looking work appropriate" either cause their skirts or shorts were too short or showed too much cleavage or whatever. Again, he was a putz. But I remember the day we were expecting his visit and we saw him walking on up the hallway to the store wearing a collared gold shirt and tiny black tennis shorts that were so short they barely covered his thighs. I looked at him and said to my co-worker, "so she got in trouble for showing to much leg, and here he is with a full on hairy man legs and shorts so tight they outline his package?".
Tumblr media
We were glad the day he announced he was leaving the company.
So when I was given the message that the head of operations wanted to come and visit the store, I wasn’t too worried. The store had only been open for a few months now and he likely just wanted to meet me and the team and see how things were going, especially since we were a “special” store. By that I mean, my store was the closest of any of the other stores to head office and the warehouse. Actually we were within a twenty minute driving distance. This meant my store would be able to get supplies or assistance more easily then other stores. I know how that sounds considering how long it took for a proper ice machine and a locksmith.
It also meant that we were the first store to try new ideas and products before being sent off to the other stores. Often times we would just have things dropped off to us by reps from head office since we were so close. But what made this upcoming visit different and more worrisome was that not only would the head of operations be there as well as the rep who had initially trained me, but so would the head of accounting as well as the head of tea development and merchandising. I had a whole pack coming to visit my store. Great!
I had to make sure that the store was perfect as you could imagine. I had to make sure all the shelves were full of stock, which wasn’t easy considering all the issues surrounding getting stock. Luckily about a week before their visit I was informed that a store from another province was closing and that the merchandise stock from their store was going to be sent over to my store. I had no idea what was in it or even how much there would be, so when the boxes arrived it was kind of like opening a present on Christmas morning.
This is what the company did whenever a store closed. Instead of selling the store stock at a reduced price, they had the staff box it up and ship it out to other stores. And as you can imagine when the stock arrived it wasn’t very well packaged or organized. This was no exception. I received around four large boxes full of stock. However, many of the unpackaged, ceramic, display pieces has been wrapped in paper towels and stacked on the bottom of the boxes. This resulted in countless broken mugs, creamer and sugar sets, and other damaged product I wouldn’t be able to use. I boxed all these items up and set them aside to show management when they visited.
But now it was the big day of the big visit. I was really nervous like you would expect anyone to be. Luckily it was a very quiet day so there weren’t any customers to get in the way. This was especially good since I only had enough hours to book only myself in at the time, with no counter coverage since at this time the company only allowed me equal number of hours as the mall was open to book my team. Meaning at the time the mall was open for only 9 hours per day, 63 hours per week, which is all I had to book my team with. And since I needed to book myself in for a minimum of 40 hours per week to keep my salary it left very little to use.
All four reps arrived at the same time. They all walked over to me at the tea counter and gave a quick introduction and shook my hand then they scattered around the store like ants looking for sugar. The rep from accounting walked over to the tea bar and started picking up spoons and checking under towels, and looking through boxes of hot cups? What was he looking for? He looked like Sherlock Holmes trying to find a clue.
The rep from tea development and merchandising nosed around the tea wall and picking through stock on the shelves. He was the least talkative of the bunch and dressed in leather boots, with bleached denim jeans and matching denim, button down shirt. The head of operations was very easy going and easy to talk to. However, he wasn’t happy when I showed him the box full of broken and damaged stock sent over from the closed T.Kettle store. He immediately pointed the finger to the rep who trained me as she at the time was the only one communicating with all the stores on daily operations due to lack of a proper regional manager.
He was pissed but thankfully not at me. I asked him what should be done with all the odd pieces that could no longer be sold due to the other half of sets being broken or missing. I was told to leave them in the backroom and they would send me a communication. They never did. After a few months I ended up throwing out anything broken and letting my staff take home any odd pieces they wanted. Until they day I left, the box of broken product was never discussed again.
After roughly 30 minutes, the group said their goodbyes and left. No comments at all other then “everything looks good”.
Odd considering usually when higher ups visited stores they usually had a list of changes they wanted done, or had some tips or advise to give. Nope, not this time. I never saw most of them again after this, besides the head of operations who would pop in on occasion to say high and grab an iced tea. The one thing that did come out of this meeting was the news that we would soon be carrying and serving T.Kettle brand Matcha. This was exciting and something that customers has been demanding. Soon a communication would going out to each store with more details and tea bar instructions for making Matcha...
to be continued...

A question for people from bagged-black-tea-drinking cultures (e.g. the version of the UK that I am aware of from pop culture, although it may not be like that IRL):
If I were to want a fairly-basic-but-relatively-nice, bagged-because-I-don’t-always-have-it-in-me-to-fiddle-with-loose-leaf black tea, what kind might you reccommend?  Brand and/or varietal, whichever.  I’ve been drinking a ton of tea the last uhh probably year at this point, and I’m starting to get kind of bored of the bagged options I am familiar with, and I figure youse guys probably know from tea to help guide my branching out.  Plus if it’s sufficiently Britishy and fancy-pants (without having a fancy-pants price), then I could pretend to be Aziraphale while I was drinking it.
Some brands are maybe only made for use in their countries of origin, but we’ve got local grocery stores that have decent import aisles (one time I got tea imported from England that had a little sheep on the box!), and/or there’s always e-commerce.
#ineffablefool original post#not good omens#i adore loose leaf but sometimes i just Cannot#there are too many steps and i tend to spill leaves everywhere when trying to place them into the infuser/lil paper bag/whatever#so Bag on String with Little Tag it is#has there ever been a fandom debate over whether Aziraphale would do loose leaf or bagged or is it actually not even a question?#maybe British tea nerds don't care about loose leaf idk#my experiences are only my own and sometimes are VERY different from everyone else's#also if it's a useful benchmark the bagged brands i use most often are Equal Exchange Tazo and Newman's#we've got some Rishi and some Celestial Seasonings and i very seldom use those#(they're both kind of weird in different ways and i'm looking for less weird)#as of the last time i bought Lipton (some of you were not yet born) it was kind of crap but maybe it's good now?#uhh what else is there that people buy around here#i think Teavana is still a thing but it's always seemed sort of New Agey to me from the stores and stuff#so i've never had it except when a previous work pal steeped it in his incredibly overcomplicated apparatus that he kept on his desk#it was motorized#it is friday night and my chosen activity is Trying To Remember Common Brands Of Tea#also for the record I'm *pretty* sure the Sheep Tea did not taste like sheep#except I've never licked a sheep#so technically it's a mysterious unknown#((yes i know sheep meat aka lamb exists but shh i'm going for humor here))#delicious tag soup

ALSO. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE READ AND ARE READING THIS SERIES. 감사합니다! 🔮
FLASHBACK
Like claws raking horribly against a chalkboard, you hold back a grimace, lips down turned from the overcast shadows looming before you, a sign of doom or at most the barbie league club from the drama department who could only afford the cheapest drink they could get at their local Starbucks.
Icy blue irises roam over the standard uniform you and every employee in this branch were forced to don --fitted green shirt and baggy corduroy pants-- and as if the devil himself reincarnates, she tips the cup of her Teavana with a flick of the wrist, the contents spilling all over the place and your ears burn as she gives you a lame 'oops, how clumsy of me'.
The other patrons are glaring at the girls to leave like the bunch of idiotic menaces they were and when they finally do (but not without giving you the finger), your shoulders sag, a heavy sigh escaping your lips just as your manager inches his way towards you, shaking her head as she helps by handing you the mop.
"This is coming out of your paycheck unfortunately," she mutters under her breath before going back to her station.
Your eyes sting with unshed tears (you were already feeling a bit rundown due to the non stop rain and you had several papers due tonight) and now this.
Can't you just catch a break?
Some of the more long term patrons offer you consoling glances as you pass them by to go clean up and you shoot them a tired but grateful smile nonetheless.
Once you're done with things, you go back to the counter to tend to the next batch of customers, hoping they weren't as mean to you as those blonde bimbos had been.
-
They say time flies by quickly when you're happy doing what you love but to say you loved working was an overstatement.
It's not like you were poor. You came from a good and loving family (despite your parents being gone all the time) with money, and one word to them would leave you with a few thick bills in your disposal.
But you didn't want to remain dependent, stemming from a mindset that you were an only child and you would eventually (and sadly) have to learn to navigate your entire rest of your life once your parents are gone.
Hence you wanted as much practice as you could get.
However, with merely an undergraduate, not many high paying jobs will take on a college student buried in loans, so you took to the streamline and applied at the nearest Starbucks.
You loved the smell of coffee anyway and though you weren't a barista, you were quite efficient at pushing buttons so you've been told.
In the least, you liked your job but not enough to be willing to stay after hours, so when Kai comes in for the next shift, you happily hand your apron over to him. "Here, good luck!" You singsong and get the fuck out of there, not giving your friend a chance to respond mainly because he looked even grumpier than you had been going in to work.
It was still raining even if it was already half past ten in the evening (yes, your boss operated twenty four seven), and you hazard a glance at your phone to see whether any of your best friends had even bothered to check in.
Well no, apparently not. Though your other boss, Eugene, (yes, you had two jobs because student loans are fucking killer) did tell you not to come in tomorrow as the energy in the shop was not going to be pleasant and you send him a response, already knowing that he's chastising you in his own weird way to get the day off because he knew you got sick easily when it got cold.
With a shiver, you run to your car, umbrella in hand and turn on the heat at full blast once inside.
Anyone who asks you how you could afford an expensive ride with a cashier's daily wage, you just shrug and let them assume you were a sugar baby. It was more fun that way.
You sneeze before you could even step on the pedal, and you grow nervous, hand feeling your forehead. Well at least you weren't running a fever. But you did feel a bit dizzy...
Ignoring the slight discomfort, you blend through the highway traffic, hoping you don't faint.
-
You don't faint. In fact you nearly faint and hastily park your vehicle to an emergency stop clearing where fewer cars drove through.
Harsh water pelts the roof of the Bentley and you wish you brought your noise cancelling earphones to at least drown out the low, metallic rumble from the now full on thunderstorm.
Afraid of getting hit with one of those stray lightnings, you had kept away from any trees and instead held yourself front and center in an open field where a murderer in a mask would most likely drag you to Christ knows where.
Not feeling up to continuing risking your health, you ask one of the guys to come get you but you are merely left on read.
Fuck.
It was an hour to midnight and you don't think it was safe for women to be out by themselves in the middle of nowhere. Groaning, you gently lay your head on the cool window, when your phone rings.
Renewed hope wells within you only to be shot down with a flaming arrow when Taemin's voice bounces from the other line. "Heya, neighbor!" He chirps a little too enthusiastically for your liking.
Your head was already pounding and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
You hum lightly, tracing invisible circles in the air and he instantly notices. "YNie? Are you okay? You don't sound so hot. "
"Well, I am cold..." You murmur, closing your lids for a brief moment for respite from the drudgery of it all.
You can hear a few people in the background and Taemin shuts them up, baritone serious as if just then remembering that you were a sickly goose. "Oh shit, are you somewhere dry and warm? Baby, where are you?"
"Is that Kai? Did he manage to skip work and go to that stupid Beta Tau Sigma party after all?"
"No, now I said shut your mouths, didn't I?" Your sweet neighbor calls out with a lowly growl, something you haven't heard for a long time, and all laughter ceases.
Woah. That's hot.
And wait, you didn't hear about any type of parties happening with Bangtan tonight? If you would they would have told you and you would have been a good girl and not gotten in their way (that is lock yourself in your room but leave through the fire escape and sleep over at your own apartment, possibly hang out with Taeminie and binge watch a few Netflix episodes of Kotaro lives alone).
Beta Tau Sigma threw subtle parties where alcohol was plenty and sometimes women and drugs were involved. You had to learn weed butter recipe for the guys at some point just so Jin wouldn't strangle the maknaes for basically slaughtering every carton of milk they could find in the kitchen to curb their failed attempts at churning a presentable lump of pimped dairy.
You loved your best friends to death (and are in love with them sadly) but the Beta Tau Sigma fraternity tended to go all out at house gatherings and you'd rather not accidentally intrude in case one of them decides fucking someone in your home was fine.
Especially if it were one of your boys. Well not your boys. Anyway.
Gathering what little strength you have left as the drowsiness was taking over, you clumsily send your coordinates to your friend on the other end of the line.
A bellow reaches your ears and you shy away from the angry voice. "You are fucking where?! Stay there, YN. Like hell you're going back home in that condition. "
Huh? Did you tell him you were sick or something?
"Okay," you mumble, unaware that you were succumbing to sleep.
-
"Shit, she's burning up!"
"Hurry, pass me that cold pack!"
"Anyone started on the hot broth yet?"
"Yeah, over here. "
"When the fuck is Kai coming back with the cold medicine?"
Blearily, your eyes open a millimeter, only to close once more as they feel heavy under the bright lights.
Who were these people again?
"Taemin-hyung, here."
A brief mumble of thanks and then a wet cloth is pressed to your forehead. Instantly, you feel so much better already from the feel of the coolness.
"Ravi, can you..."
"Yeah, here."
Someone helps you up gently, arms roped around your shoulders as you are put in a sitting position. Something hard slides between your lips followed by water and you subconsciously gulp whatever it was down.
You cough a bit only for hands to scrabble at your back in up down motions and then you're lying on the softest bed you have ever felt.
"Taemin, I can take it from here. You go help Sungwoon with the chicken soup. "
In the distance, rushed footsteps are heard as a door opens and closes with a click. The footsteps get nearer and a voice you recognize as your friend Kai's comes barrelling through with a whisper. "Where is she? Oh shit, YN. I'm so sorry I didn't notice earlier!"
A hand touches your burning cheek and you nuzzle into it.
"Did you tell them?"
"What?"
" Bangtan. "
"Fuck no. I mean I ran into Jimin awhile back, they were picking up some food as I was leaving and when I asked if YN got home okay, they weren't even aware she had left already. "
A sigh and then you are shifted to the left as a weight on your right settles, hands coming to stroke your hair.
"No shit? If I ever come across Bangtan, I am pummeling their pretty boy faces. How could they leave her like this? All for a fucking house party? I'm so glad I refused Park Jimin's invitation to join all those years ago. "
The hand in your hair pauses. "...It's uh, I think they have weed in there so they might be high for a bit. That may explain why they're pretty much out of it. "
"Honest to God if they ditched her for a fuck, I will murder them. "
Murmurs of agreement float through the room and your brain shuts down, not even thinking about the entire conversation you've overheard.
Not until the next morning where you are left alone with your thoughts (your friends had their own lives and own work so you couldn't fault them for leaving you unattended--at least they made a mean breakfast and set up your bath and even gave you a change of spare clothes and some medicine to go with it) and decide to run to Yin Yang Quatro, teary eyed and heart broken because not one of Bangtan had even left a text.
Guess your friendship with the seven men wasn't that important after all.
END OF FLASHBACK.

Now Taemin wasn't a vindictive person.
He wasn't also one to be easily angered.
In fact, he was the most patient out of all of his friends.
And yet when it came to YN, his neighbor, his friend, he would do anything for her.
In fact they (Sungwoon, Ravi, and Kai) would be willing to walk through fire for her.
It was a pact they took once they decided to help the unconscious girl behind their apartment's trashcan whom they would later come to know as YN, the most beautiful human being on earth, inside and out.
So when rumors of her getting smashed and cut with the art club's glass prop started circulating, he had to find out.
And now the four of them were standing before her hospital bed, emotions simmering wildly under the promise of hurting whoever did this to her.
Kai especially was quiet and the guy hardly had nothing to say. Not with his affiliation to Beta Tau Sigma as some sort of honorary member.
"Did they come visit her yet?" Sungwoon asks through gritted teeth as he stares off into space, refusing to acknowledge the reality in front of him so soon.
Ravi frowns as he surveys the damage on YN. Bandaged head, patched up cheeks, and bandages all over her arms and hands. Shit. How was she going to continue working if she woke up? "Yeah. The doctors said they did. "
Taemin, for all the anger bubbling up inside of him was quick to stamp it out like a lighted cigarette. Cancer sticks they say. "Good. One less fly off the wall. "
"Or seven. "
Eyes flash deadly. If there was one thing they were going to do, they were going to search for YN's soul and bring her back.
They knew YN. They knew everything about her. And they accepted it all. Even if she were to be haunted by some old woman's ghost or whatever.
Even if they had to make a deal with the devil himself.
They loved her that much.
They were going to have to make a quick trip to Yin Yang Quatro.
Eugene Lee Yang might be the answer to their problems.
