Pearl of the Realm [ Part 2 excerpt, 1]
I basically made this AU in my mind after staring at Pinterest for hours in which Lucerys is accidentally politically savvy, endearing Westeros and securing allies for his mother by being a fashion icon and getting the nobility and the lower class talking about him every week, Regina George-style. “Where is he going? What’s he wearing? How lovely does he look today? Can the tailor here make something similar?” Luke travelled abroad to become more worldly/culturally educated in preparation for his role as Lord of Driftmark and was smitten with the diversity of clothing and fabrics. Upon his return, he basically caused tabloids + the printing press to become invented early. King shit. He also gives Aemond a heart attack whenever he catches sight of him, because he can’t decide whether to encourage this behavior or steal him away so no one else can see him. Instead, he just stares like an idiot.

I made a whole spread of this to post later in the week. Cheers for now <3

The Sea Dragon’s Kraken
kind of daemyra dynamic with dalcerys:)
a/n: lmao I really had to strain my brain for this
anywho, enjoy luke having an existential crisis over a rehappening of what started the dance of dragons in the first place: the second son being in danger, and either killed or taken hostage:)
(very hard decision over whether I should kill little vivi off storm’s end style, or keep him alive but at the cost of ruby’s life - one of luke’s dragons, and whom vivi feels connected to the most out of the three dragons. SO I COMPROMISED AND DECIDED TO MAKE TWO SEPARATE FICS OF BOTH INSTANCES - IDK WHICH ONE WILL BE CANON, SO PICK WHICHEVER CANON AU YOU WANT TO BELIEVE:D)
a/n 2: this is the lead up fic to Vivi’s fate of arriving back to Luke safe, the other fic that ends with Vivi’s death will be Dalton not going with Little Vis to the Stepstones, and while he gets them to join his brother turned mother for the upcoming war, he gets killed on route back to the Isles by either Maelor or Jaehaerys or a son sired by Aemond I haven’t decided yet - this basically kickstarts the second civil war the same way as the first dance of dragons
@rowletlittenpopplioteam this is for you, thanks for reminding me I had too many drafts in my notes for lucerys and his harem:)
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Love, Viserys will be alright. He will have Ruby with him, after all.” The words were whispered, though in the room devoid of anyone except for two, it echoed and bounced from the walls as Lucerys stared out into the sea, hands clasped tightly on the windowsill.
“I know he will have Ruby with him, I know Ruby is protective of our little Vis, but still… I can’t help this immense dread within my stomach,” clutching his abdomen swollen with babe, he turns to face his husband.
“Dalton, I fear a repeat of Storm’s End, I fear our little Viserys will be another instance of the wretched Greens taking everything from me. They already took mother, my fathers, my grandmother, Jace, Joffrey and Visenya - you know how much they wanted to rid my mother’s blood from this world, and if news of our heart being out there - all alone - spreads, he might-“ his words were choked back, as small sobs racked throughout his body.
His husband stood silent, arms crossed at his back, and eyes down to bring a sense of privacy to his grieving and distressed husband. As the Greyjoy hears the sobs die down, he slowly walks in front of his beloved, and brings his hands to clutch his sea dragon’s trembling palms. “I know it’s cold comfort, but our heart will be safe, whatever happened to you in the past will not be repeated today, and certainly never in the foreseeable future. He’s a stubborn boy who loves his brother turned mother, he’s determined to prove himself to you, he wants nothing more than for you to be proud of him.”
Luke lets out a shuddered breath, “that is precisely why I am afraid. He is exactly as I was with my mother, and I fear that sameness will be what breaks me apart again, and will be what kills him as it did my family.”
Dalton sighs defeatedly, he knew his husband was concerned, very much and understandably so. As such, he offers a bargain.
“If it makes your worry lessen, I will set sail with Viserys to the Stepstones, and I will accompany him in making a deal with the leaders of the Stepstones to your cause,” Dalton proclaims, in a near yelling tone of anger, though not directed to his dear Pearl of the Seas.
“You are no Targaryen nor Velaryon in the eyes of Westeros, the Greens made sure to publicize and spread that, and your humiliation and suffering will be what draws the Stepstones to you. They will see you as no Targaryen or Velaryon, but as Lucerys Greyjoy of House Dragonborne. And with some threats from my fleet, and from a dragon, I do believe it’ll make them more willing to fight for you - they want to stick whatever ironic victories they require with dragons in the arse of those Westerosi bitches and bastards.”
His soft consort was silent, staring at the wall behind the Greyjoy’s shoulder. After a few moments, Luke turns his dark eyes to his husband’s, and tilts his head. “…I trust you to bring our Viserys back safely - alive and well. The same with our dearest red princess, Ruby. The Stepstones will be under my command, but are free to raid and kill anything and anyone from and within Westeros.”
The Greyjoy smirks, leaning his forehead against Lucerys’, “and what else, my Lord of Dragonborne, eldest surviving son of the true Black Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, and rightful King of Westeros?”
“…Show no mercy. I grant you, your fleet, and our Viserys and Ruby my permission, to show no mercy.”
Loud laughs of excitement, pent up rage and bloodlust erupt from the older man, as he clamps his rough hands upon his lord’s cheeks, and brings him into a kiss.
Separating, Dalton whispers into Luke’s ears, “If I see that One-Eye in the skies, on the ground or at sea, I will shoot him and his dragon down, and bring to you their heads.”
“I will hold you to that promise, my husband.”

I can’t tell you how funny it is to me that the prequel trilogy goes out of its way to tell us how much the Jedi council did things by tradition.
They were fully admitting that Anakin was probably that nebulous “chosen one,” but they still didn’t want to train him because they considered him too old. They told Anakin off for having attachments. They decided everything in a council and refused to make moves without voting on them. They saw Anakin as reckless.
Then, the one who saves the Force in the end is Luke fucking Skywalker. Luke fucking Skywalker, who became a Jedi at nineteen! Luke Skywalker, who was immediately far too attached to a stranger he saw on a message. Luke Skywalker, who spends fifteen seconds, maybe, considering his move before doing it. Luke Skywalker, who was reckless enough to leave Dagobah in the middle of his training and face Darth fucking Vader.
Is there a character in the franchise who goes more against what the Jedi code was? Luke begins the trilogy emotional and irrational and reckless and STILL becomes one of the most powerful Jedi in canon! The Force Ghosts of the Jedi council are quaking!! They never show themselves to him because they probably can’t stand being reminded that THAT GUY saved the Force and the galaxy and is the only one left to continue on teaching the ways of the Jedi.
Luke Skywalker is not only the oldest padawan in the galaxy. He is not only the boy who got very attached to an astromech droid. He is not only reckless. He is also the result of the guy the Jedi council kept telling off for being all of those things and more not listening to the Jedi council! He is the offspring of the one man the Jedi probably hoped would have children the least!
Like, can you imagine??? They are probably so upset!!! Can you imagine how Yoda feels??? Yoda was like “I don’t think we should train Anakin Skywalker, he’s too old and I have a bad feeling about it,” only for the rest of the council to outvote him, and now he has to teach Anakin’s kid!!! Yoda is definitely an asshole on first meeting on purpose, and I honestly can’t even blame him! If the others had listened to him, none of this would have happened! Yoda becomes a Force Ghost and says “I told you so” everytime Mace Windu or Qui-Gon Jinn so much as think of opening their mouths.
And I know that Luke becomes a great Jedi because he tamps down on his emotional recklessness and trains and all of that, but honestly, this boy still is nearly as dramatic as his father, mother, and Obi-Wan all combined. He is wearing his most dramatic outfit. He tells C-3PO to lie to the Ewoks and puts the fear of an imaginary god into them. He crushes deadly, deadly drones like tin cans without any effort. Luke doesn’t even have the respect to be a Jedi who is undeniably on the Light Side, he is constantly giving off evil vibes! He killed countless people on the Death Star and he decided to try and convince Darth Vader to be good and I really think he occasionally just laughs maniacally while sitting in a tall chair and stroking a cat, and he’s probably doing it just to bug the ghosts of the Jedi council.
Like, honestly? The prequels are worth a watch just to see how Luke destroys everything Palpatine created, but also the image the Jedi stood for.
(Believe me. By the end of the trilogy, you will want both to be destroyed. I cannot explain in words how obnoxious the Jedi are in the prequels. Yes, they are cool. Yes, they are hot. Yes, I enjoy their fight scenes immensely. No, I do NOT think they are good teachers because a good teacher understands that the trust between a student and a teacher is a two-way street. If you lie and hide things, your student will not trust you. What did they think was going to happen? Did they think they could just teach children how to stifle their emotions and it would all work out? You need to allow your students to show emotion, you need to allow your students to feel safe doing so, Jedi. Otherwise, they will obviously view any mistakes as a failure and the won’t want to talk to you. And a teacher who cannot communicate with their student is a bad teacher.
Don’t get me wrong, some of them are probably wonderful teachers. Yoda encourages his students to make fun of Obi-Wan, which humanizes a probably intimidating figure and makes it easier for the students to go to Yoda or Obi-Wan with questions, and that’s wonderful, truly. But, if the way they handled Anakin is any indication, I’m surprised it took Palpatine to kill them all off. Anakin was told off for having attachment to his mother, but Anakin would have been a lot less possessive of his bond to his mother if he had been allowed to have it! If they had just let him visit her once or twice, Anakin would’ve had an easier time calming down, because he wouldn’t constantly be questioning if he’d ever see her again and holding onto his memory of her so strongly. If you just tell a child not to have attachment, they will only stop growing an attachment and trust with you. This is basis stuff, did the Jedi not think to consult a psychologist when they were brainwashing children?)
Anyway, long story short, watching Luke destroy the Empire is good, but knowing that he does so while being the picture of what the Jedi didn’t want any of their members to be is just the cherry on top :)
