Personal Project- Shoot 1 Plan

For my first shoot I will be taking photos of a mural artist called Mark Worst (@markworst). Mark Worst is a big name in the street art community a lot of younger beginning street artist look up to him. He now creates big murals all around Scotland. I will me photographing Mark in the process of creating a new mural he has been commissioned to paint my the company Mika and Me Eyewear.

Here are a few examples of his work

Plan-

Date- 19/04/22

Weather- The weather is supposed to be warm and sunny with very little cloud between 10am and 4pm so this is when I intent to shoot.

Equipment-

Cannon EOS 2000D.

18-55MM lens to ensure I can get wide angled shots as it is a wide wall I wand to be able to capture as much of the wall as I can.

55-250mm lens to get closer up shots for faces and hands etc capturing every detail without getting to close as the paint does go everywhere.

Spare batteries encase one runs out while shooting

A backpack to keep all my equipment in

I will also bring a mini light reflector encase the lighting is not well lit, however due to the weather I do not think I will need it.

Risk Assessment- There is quite high risk with this shoot as the subject will be painting live and the chemicals from the spray are not good to inhale so I will be wearing a mask at all times. It will also take place on the street next to a road so I will need to be mindful of traffic traveling by when i am taking the images.

Location- This shoot will take place in the west end of Glasgow.

I have have drawn a few sketch ideas that I would like to try and capture.

Glasgow’s latest Mural

The mural is just off London Road on Abercromby Street.

Just by coincidence I was reading up on the subject matter yesterday.

The story goes that Princess Theneu, the daughter of the King of Lothian, became pregnant before her marriage. She brought shame over the whole kingdom.  Versions vary, one of them goes as far as to say Theneu was raped by a Welsh prince, Owain mab Urien.

Anyway her family, ashamed by the pregancy, threw her from a cliff but she survived the fall unharmed. Fate had a different plan. Princess Theneu knew she had no home and her family would chase her.

She found an unmanned little boat on the Firth of Forth but she was not a sailor. So the boat drifted across the Forth to Culross where she was rescued by some local monks.

Saint Serf was taking care of Princess Theneu and he became foster-father of her son. Her son grew up in Culross and became later known as Saint Kentigern or Mungo.

The Princess herself is a venerated saint and over the centuries the name has become corrupted to St Enoch, both mother and son are synonymous with Glasgow’s historic founding.

It's not the first time I have told the story here, nor is it the first mural to honour St Enoch, if you recall I posted this pic last year after I took a wee trip to Glasgow. This one is by the Australian Sam Bates AKA Smug and is on the corner of High Street and George Street
