I somehow forgot to do this for chapter 2 (whoops) but here is the update for chapter three: the Utopia AU. This one is going to end on a massive cliffhanger but hey, we get to keep exploring the dynamic between Martha/Ten, Martha/Riley, and even a tiny little bit of Ten/Riley tension thrown in for spice!
(And yes, I used the title "you're coming back (and it's the end of the world)" for this chapter because of @tenmartha's tenmartha video to the same song "I Want You" by Mitski! Feel free to go check it out!)
i love you rose tyler for your never ending compassion for beings of all origins, and your beautiful unwavering humanity. i love you martha jones for your curiosity, wit and your insatiable need to help everyone you come across. i love you donna noble for your fierce loyalty and your ability to stand up for others and your unwavering moral compass. i love all RTD companions so much and i hope to carry the best bits of them with me.
here’s the cut opening scene from daleks in manhattan if anyone cares/has not seen it idk. anyways my favourite part is the eleven seconds of pure silence + tardis rattling
A lot of Martha criticism is very annoying because it all essentially boils down to a ton of information WE know about the Doctor that Martha herself is not privy to. Literally can be simplified as 'Martha did not watch Series 1 or 2'.
There is something to be said for the Chameleon Arch being used in Doctor Who fanfic and its absolutely infinite applications, but my favorite has to be the absolute irony of your two halves (or two-thirds, if you're working with a throuple) of a Doctor/companion relationship living through two COMPLETELY different genres. The human!Doctor is living their best rom-com life falling for the companion, while the companion is living the angstiest action-adventure story trying to keep the human!Doctor safe from the aliens chasing them whiel also having the Doctor fall for them but knowing that the human!Doctor can only be so affectionate because this is not the Doctor and the world needs the Doctor so they have to give up the human!Doctor who actually loves them. You feel me?
You think being dumped by text is hard? Imagine being one of the Tenth Doctor's exes (or not-quite-exes, we're counting brutal platonic break-ups here too).
