4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw

hmmm. we love mekhanism but we hate drawing mecha shit god bless. in terms of specific characters we love gears so much something abnout him is Difficult. to draw. if we were better at this we would draw so many of him your dashes would be fucking flooded with his bald head

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

hm. we can't guess ratios on this. most polished stuff gets posted. the majority of traditional sketchbook stuff does not, both because pen is a pain to get right and photographing sketchbooks is annoying. various shitty doodles linger in our ms paint and krita canvases never to see the light of day

10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw

nonspecifically, dresses in general. specifically, off-the-shoulder (one or both) tops with bras or camisoles/tanks/binders underneath, which are both generally cute and very fun physically to draw

14. Any favorite motifs?

we dont have a lot of character nonspecific motifs but we like coming up with (or building on) character specific ones! going through a few of the ones we enjoy theres a lot of nature-y themes (kondraki's butterflies, amethyst's fungi, meri and diana's tonally distinct floral motifs, emp's forget-me-nots), ah, and... other than the nature stuff we keep repeatedly emphasizing symbolically mirrored aspects of various characters as physically distinct entities. Can't imagine what that's about!

So I went and stress drew something, shitty picture and drawing in general but meet the thing that started project: Carsus, or what my ex used to lovingly call the Alien Furry Project. I was gonna write something proper for this but I don’t want to so have some random tidbits instead:

average height is around 7-9ft. 10-11 isn’t uncommon, though.

dense motherfuckers. Very heavy for their size. Combine this with the fact that they are extremely strong... well. It’s easy for one to take down a mecha Ironhide’s size. Like physically just slam into him and bowl him over. Which has happened.

most look like the full-body wip on the right: big-eared, almost comically long-limbed, slim, bony, all angles and sharpness, much like Earth oriental cats. Their fur is short and silky and extremely water-resistant. All four arms are incredibly strong and each ends in aposeable 'paws’ with four fully retractable claws. Good at gripping thinks.

patterned coats such as tabbies, mottled, ‘tuxedos’, and calicos are most common and better for hiding in the jungle undergrowth of their planet.

their eyes do not appear to have any pupils, and they come in every natural cat eye color.

their planet’s mostly jungle, but cities spread rather quickly, their biggest being the City of Carsus itself. The third-largest library in the universe is located there.

they don’t have a verbal language - not one that Cyertronians can understand, anyway. Their language is much more about body language, just like any other cat species. However many do wear voxcollars that translate for them, but their vocabulary is rather limited. Don’t mistake this for them not being knowledgable; most just don’t give a damn enough to learn beyond the basic settings to talk to other species besides their own. They can, but they just. Don’t want to talk to you any more than they have to.

an individual Carsai is always referred to as ‘it’. Doing otherwise without consent is considered extremely rude, and it is very rare to get consent to refer to it as anything else. Again, they just don’t like you.

They do not have names in the traditional sense. None that they can say, even through the voxcoder. Not that they’d give you their names anyway.

if you do manage to gain the trust and frendship of a Carsai? Congratulations. You didn’t die, and you’ve got a loyal friend for life. If you get this far you are expected to give it a (sensible) nickname that only you are allowed to call it by, unless it gives permission to anyone else.

ear notches represent ranks and jobs of an individual Carsai. I haven’t figured that all out, but I do know that criminals are marked with a complet tip, like after a feral cat is fixed.

The left image is just a doodle of Ironhide’s Carsai holoform, which is more similar to a Maine Coon than oriental cats like most of the Carsai population. He just thought it was fun. He’s probably a furry, considering it all.

One guy. Er, I mean two, no, no! Four, four completely different guys, no correlation between them, no sir! Started this around same time as this KID one. It should be same style proportion-wise. As I was messing around for fun/on purpose of finding something that more cartoony? simpler in flow? Anyways, the design/style notes/thoughts under the cut, I did put lots of my exhausted braincells into Kaito/KID difference

Overall style inspos: 1) "I need to think of Sonic but like more human-y" 2) Miho Shimogasa (PPGZ/Kaito Joker/BatuSpi Toppa Bashin) 3) PSWG and SPvsW lol kinda, just from my head how I remembered em though

>Cone and Shin: Originally wasn't planning on putting shadows in his eyes, but without em he's straight up "People with blue eyes" meme. Creepy too much. Neat and sharp a bit. Cone is a pain to size correctly. I think I kinda got it right? But maybe he should had been just tad taller? You never know if he's like 95cm or 1m and something Side note, but Cone's shoes really make me think of Sonic's- >Shin and Kaito: Neat and bit sharp vs more laid back and messy. Also more puffy/round on corners? I basically want him to have puffy sleeves/sleeves that got some volume to em because it fits the magician in my eyes. Adds to hands/arm movement Also Shin's eyes of more your blue/dark blue shades, while Kaito's of blue-ish purple That's to say, I imagine/think Shinichi is the one who hunches more, while Kaito is the one who tends to lean back a bit/keep posture mostly straight (if he ain't sleeping in class lol) >Kaito and KID: Kinda pathetic and messy vs your perfect phantom thief. More shadowy/half-closed eyes vs "oh he's bright awake and ready to go stupid go crazy". Some guy vs the charisma itself. That's to say, shadows cover Kid's visible eye most of the time. And he also has that grin...or his mouth hidden at all. His hair appears bit more fluffier and neater, too. I also tried to keep that juxtaposition with Shinichi of "more sharps vs more round" with him as well. Overall, I like the thought of what if Kaito was more loser in canon, as in less people in school liking him, pitying for his family situation, etc, no entirely of course, because it's simply him, but feel it be more fun in contrast with Kid (and Shinichi) Also, for Kid's cape...just didn't felt like drawing it here, you can excuse me, right?
